Oh boy. Normally I hesitate about posting super cheesy stuff anywhere, but I have to right now.

2019 was a rough year for me. Not the worst, but I had to learn a shit ton of hard-hitting lessons about myself and make some difficult decisions that lost me most of my oldest friends. I needed to lose them, but it still hurt me. And the conversations I had during that time are haunting me as I look back on my year in a way that makes it hard to see the good, so I'm going to force myself to see good now. If you would like, feel free to skip this next paragraph, it's mostly for personal affirmation. I will bold my reflective paragraph so you can skip.

While I lost many of my oldest and closest friends, it hasn't stopped me from bonding with new people. I actually got a lot closer to people who are better for me that I really wanted to be friends with. I said yes to way more things, which meant I got to actually spend more time with the people I couldn't get as close to last year. This included both friends and family. While my anxiety started manifesting in some truly scary ways over the summer, I started challenging a few social things that make me anxious, and I learned a lot of things about my anxiety that I can pick at and work through with a new therapist next year. I handled the hardest academic semester of my life thus far better than I ever could've imagined. It was my most organized and least procrastinate-y semester ever, which showed me I can handle WAY more than I thought I could. And I accomplished a lot. I became a manager at my FAVORITE job, got back another job I loved, started working at Panera, and came back better than ever at my on-campus job. (Yes, I technically have four jobs, but they all happen at different times of year, don't worry.) I fell even more in love with history and my career path, if that's even possible, and I'm proud of my little library that I've started. I went to Hawaii. I went on a ten-hour round-trip road trip all by myself. I made the decision to go to Europe for three weeks (I leave in a week!!!) I started learning a new language. I wrote creatively for the first time in a long time, even if it was one fanfic. And I signed the lease on a house with a bunch of the friends I got closer to this year that we move into in June!

And amidst all that chaos, I decided to make this sideblog. It's genesis and purpose is actually very intricately connected to many of these events/processes, and part of me feels like a lot of my growth would've been harder to achieve without it and all of the wonderful people I've met on here. Many of the people I now consider friends here are people I used to see in tags and think "Oh man, they seem so fun and cool and creative and funny. I wish I could actually post my own hockey stuff and talk to people like them about it." And then I made my first hockey Tumblr friend. (You know who you are ❤️) And the rest was history.

Thank you thank you thank you to everyone I follow, everyone who follows me, all my amazing mutuals, and literally anyone who has ever interacted with a post of mine in any way. You are all a major part of what salvaged 2019 for me and helped me work through it in ways you don't even know!

There are so many people who deserve a shout-out and I'm probably leaving some out, but just know that I appreciate everyone here and that includes you ❤️

dream trip : i kind of got to on my lifelong dream trip on a study abroad to greece and italy last summer which was amazing- but my new dream trip would be switzerland and spain! (i wanna skydive in interlaken which is the adventure capital of europe i believe)
