Daenerys Targaryen x Fem!Baratheon(Lannister) OC - 𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘦𝘯 (P2)
DuckPanda Original - PART 1 Daenerys Targaryen x Lannister!OC (Mercia Baratheon)
SUMMARY: The young queen, Mercia Baratheon, is the last living heir to King Robert after all three of her siblings die horrible deaths. As the Seven Kingdoms are on the brink of collapse, Mercia does all she can to hold it all together - though struggles arrive when the Long Night draws near, and The Dragon Queen comes for her throne. But perhaps there is a compromise they can arrange?

Mercia stroked the soft neck of her loyal lioness, Potami, who sat committedly at her legs as the Queen rested upon the Iron Throne.
Once again, the young queen was holding court with at least a hundred guards rowed on either side of the room, something that Mercia did just to ease her mother's paranoia. For all of Mercia's siblings had been killed, two out of three were assassinated – so she didn't blame her mother for becoming desperate to have a ridiculous number of guards positioned to protect her last remaining child.
Near Mercia's lioness stood The Mountain, only two paces left of the throne with Maester Qyburn. On Mercia's right was her uncle and her mother, staring down stoically at all of the lords that Mercia had summoned to Kings Landing to speak with.
"If the last Targaryen takes the Iron Throne, she'll destroy the realm as we know it," Mercia spoke, not taking her eyes away from her lioness whose piercing, blue gaze scanned the lords below. "Some of you are bannermen of House Tyrell, but House Tyrell is in open rebellion against the crown. With their help, the Dragon Queen has ferried an army of Dothraki to our shores. Unsullied soldiers who will destroy your castles and your holdfasts for their queen without a second thought. Her armies will burn your villages to the ground, rape and enslave your women and butcher your children."
Mercia lifted her green gaze to the many lords standing before her, all of them listening intently, hanging on to every single word that came out of her lips. "This is how Olenna Tyrell rewards centuries of service and loyalty?"
Her mother then spoke up, stone-faced. "You all remember the Mad King," she called out. "Do you remember the horrors he inflicted upon his people? His daughter is nothing less."
Mercia glanced at her mother for a moment. She hated it whenever her mother sounded so sure. Mercia, despite being the Dragon Queen's enemy, knew from the accounts of spies that Daenerys was nothing like the Mad King. From all that Mercia has witnessed through reports, Daenerys Targaryen was an anti-slavery monarch whose only goals are to free the people of the world and take back her ancestral throne. That, in itself, was different, but not mad in the slightest. Nonetheless, they had to convince the lords to join their forces with the crown. For the sake of Mercia and her family’s lives at least.
"In Essos, her brutality is already legendary." The words tasted bitter in Mercia's mouth, as she forced herself to twist these stories to make the Targaryen Queen sound like a mad tyrant. "She has crucified hundreds of noblemen in Slaver's Bay. When she grew bored of that, she fed everyone that opposed her to her dragons. It is my sworn duty before the faith to protect the people, and I will, but I need your help, my Lords."
"We must stand together," Cersei interjected once again, sounding confident and determined to convince these men to side with them. "All of us. If we hope to stop her."
The lords whispered amongst themselves for a moment before Lord Tarly stepped forward, stoic and tall as he addressed the young queen. "Your Grace, forgive me but she has three full-grown dragons. The same as Aegon when he conquered the Seven Kingdoms. How do you propose to stop them? With your lions?" Some men in the room laughed.
Mercia's hand that was stroking Potami's fur went still, and her eyes met the old Lord's. Then, she turned her head to Maester Qyburn and nodded to him.
The thin, frail man looked over at the lord, blank-faced as usual. "We are currently at work on a solution, my Lord."
Mercia stood then, clasping her hands together and giving the lords a small smile. "Please, discuss this together. Take your time, we have all day. For now, I must insist that I get off this damned, uncomfortable chair. I will call for the court again in a few hours."
Turning to her lion, she lightly tapped her hand on her thigh once. "Come, Potami."
The lords all watched the young Queen leave the throne room with the huge tawny lioness loyally trotting at her heels.
◤━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━◥
"I am Eddard Stark," said the man that had been forced to kneel before the enraged common people of Kings Landing. "Lord of Winterfell and Hand of the King."
The man glanced towards his right, where, nearby, his eldest daughter, the Lady Sansa Stark, nodded to him in encouragement. On her left was the newly titled queen regent, Cersei Lannister, her golden hair long and ever so beautiful. She was smiling proudly at her eldest son, the newly crowned King of Westeros, Joffrey Baratheon, who stood near Eddard Stark, smirking satisfyingly at the discord before him.
Mercia watched with a frown from Sansa Stark's right as the man, her late father’s closest friend, who had been in the dungeons for days, was now being publicly humiliated. Mercia had never felt this ashamed of her brother as she did now, watching Joffrey seem so pleased at this poor man's suffering. Despite being a traitor to the crown, Mercia only had heard such kind things about Eddard Stark, that he was the most honourable and one of the most prominent lords in the country. And with every spoken word they have exchanged, even if there wasn’t much to be said, he always treated her with kindness and the upmost respect. This lord did not deserve this shame.
Looking away, down to the ground now, Eddard Stark continued. "I come before you to confess my treason in the sight of the Gods and men. I betrayed the faith of my king and the trust of my friend Robert. I swore to protect and defend his children, but before his blood was cold, I plotted to murder his son... and seize the throne for myself."
What? Mercia whipped her head to look at her mother, Cersei, who turned to look at her with a small smile, though the young girl could see the harsh warning behind the older one's green gaze. ‘Do not say a word’.
Meanwhile, the crowd had erupted in an outroar, one peasant in the sea of people even throwing a small stone at Lord Stark's head, causing the man to gasp in pain as blood seeped through the wound and drip from his brow. Beside Mercia, Sansa gasped and grasped the princess’ hand. Mercia turned her head away from the sight, squeezing Sansa’s hand back.
"L-let the High Septon and Baelor the Blessed bear witness to what I say: Joffrey Baratheon is the one true heir to the Iron Throne, by the grace of all the Gods, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm." Through every word, Eddard Stark's face contorted, as if he were in pain of speaking falsehoods. Mercia knew of the letter and will her father had left behind, asking his friend to rule until Joffrey came of age.
The crowd murmured amongst themselves angrily, but Maester Pycelle stepped forward. "As in sin, this man has confessed to his crimes in sight of Gods and men. The Gods are just, but beloved Baelor taught us they can also be merciful." Maester Pycelle then turned to Joffrey and bowed his head. "What is to be done with this traitor, Your Grace?" he asked, spitting the words as if the man accused was some worthless demon.
The crowd jeered and called out angrily, but Joffrey raised his hand with a pleased smile, as if all this chaos excited him. Mercia knew that it did.
The crowd went silent, and Joffrey spoke, "My mother wishes me to let Lord Eddard join the Night's Watch. Stripped of all titles and powers, he would serve the realm in permanent exile," he continued, looking to his betrothed, the Lady Sansa. "And my Lady Sansa has begged mercy for her father."
The Lady Sansa smiled softly at the King and Mercia frowned. She knew her brother better than to be someone of mercy.
She was right when he announced his next words, and Eddard Stark's head was put to the sword and placed on a spike on the city walls for months.
Mercia never forgot the Lady Sansa's screams that dreadful day.

(If you want to be tagged let me know)
————
“My son was stolen from me, my first born boy. He was sweet, good, and he was taken from me,” you swallow back the thick clump of emotions that had begun to cling on your throat. “I know there are fathers, mothers especially here who understand such pain. It’s a pain unlike any other, one you can never recover from. It’s why I ask you now, mothers, sisters, aunts, fight with me. Join my armies, rise alongside the men. Protect your children, your nephews and nieces, your cousins, siblings. Don’t hide under the shadows any longer.”
Whispering against your speech begins to fill the room, men mostly seem to be the ones with something against it.
You albeit knew this would happen, people aren’t as open minded as they are in Dorne. Sansa told you this would happen, it’s why you sat here with no plan to back away, you were only going to push forward with new ideals to progress this old world further.
“From now it will be law that any woman who wishes to be a knight, a soldier, can do so without protest from their husband or father,” you continue, causing the row to get louder. “From now it will be law that disregarding gender, the first born will inherit lands, families homes, castles, and titles like the first born male does. Of course this will apply for the new generation, I don’t wish to start wars between families who have already settled.”
You glance at Sansa to share with her a quick passing look, and she manages to shoot you a faint supporting smirk.
“You really expect me to put a sword in my daughter's hands and send her off to battle with all those men?” A lord interjects as he stands up to be seen and heard by everyone. Some agree, but some don’t say anything. “They are the ones who bring new life to this world, they…support homes, and are the warmth men return to after war.”
You remain nonchalant and shrug. “Aye,” it slips from your mouth after getting accustomed to the word thanks to Jon. “They are, but need I remind you it also takes men to create life. You all still go to war and risk your lives. They support homes, keep the children fed and your clothes clean, but no one will obligate them. They will have a choice. All women.”
“What does a woman know about ruling a land?” Another man cuts in, making Sansa, Arya, your sisters, and you scoff.
“So what?” You quip with a bit of annoyance now. “Are you saying that Lady Sansa, and I know nothing? I can give you a long list of women rulers that were far greater than any man. I can give you a list of women who have taken over the kingdoms of their husbands. They will learn, as boys do.”
“No,” another person disagrees. “I cannot agree to these….” He pauses and looks at you and then at your sisters, letting you know at that moment what he’s referring to. Of course he’s being racist.
“If it does not please you, my lord,” Jon cuts in this time in your defense. “You may leave. No one will stop you, you can join Daenerys after you get past the dragons past these gates. There is no argument to be had lords, it’s not up to debate, the law is made by your Queen,” he says in a louder and more firm voice. “It is time we move on from some old ways. I will do the same, if a daughter is born to me first she will be heir to her mothers throne. My own sister will rule Winterfell and all the north once we take the throne, Ser Brienne is Lord Commander of the Queensguard. If your ego is so fragile then perhaps you can find luck with the other Queen, or try and be independent. Let's see how that goes.”
You raise your chin with pride and shoot the men a pointed glare.
“Moving on then,” you continue and flick your wrist down on the armrest. “Soon we will be conducting an attack against Queen Daenerys to retrieve Tyrion Lannister, in an attempt to gain The Westerlands as an ally. I need women volunteers willing to fight.” You look around at the women around the hall. “The fight won’t be a long one, it’s just our first strike to start this war, the attack will be an ambush, a ruse to say. I and the King will watch from the skies and swoop to burn the remaining army that will be outside the gates attempting to help. Any volunteers?”
“If I may?” A lady pitches as she stands up. “Why should we risk our lives for someone part of Daenerys court? Is Ser Jaime not enough?”
You sigh, and Sansa steps in this time. “Possibly, but our cause will be stronger if both Lannister men are at our side, besides you won’t risk your lives to save him. We have a plan for that, you will risk your lives for your Queen, for yourselves so the injustice done to Prince Rhaenar won’t be repeated. So our home won’t burn to the ground the same way Daenerys burnt Kings Landing.”
You lower your gaze and fist one hand to fiddle with your rings.
“I will volunteer,” a women in the back interrupts and stands up to be seen.
“I will as well,” another stands up, and twenty more women follow after that, making you straighten up and smile faintly.
“Good,” you say. “You all can go with Ser Striker, here,” you point to the tall, lean and broad shouldered Dornish warrior at the end of the stairs. “He and Ser Jaime will overlook training.”
Now with the Lords who pledged their allegiance to you, and this new law shared, this meeting comes to end, letting you slouch and exhale deeply. Albeit as the crowd filters away, Jon is taken away too to help others.
“My Queen,” Ser Brienne interjects and walks around the throne to face you. “I have chosen some candidates to join the Queen's Guard. I just need your approval.”
“Oh,” you mutter and offer her a thankful smile. “Alright. Let’s go now then.” You attempt to push yourself off the chair, but Sansa grabs your arm and helps you up.
You roll your eyes since the action is small, but feel grateful regardless. Even as she holds onto you as you walk out the training yard with Ser Brienne.
“I swear you got bigger overnight,” Sansa mentions and looks at you with a happy smile.
You sigh and rub your belly. “Aye, I think I did. My dresses aren’t fitting anymore. It’s not time yet but it feels as if I’m going to burst,” you giggle softly and meet her gaze with a smile.
Sansa hums softly and then uses her other hand to feel your swollen belly. “Does it feel different than before.”
You look ahead and nod. “Yes, completely. Now my urge to use the lavatory is more often. And there is a constant dull pain on my ribs this time since there’s one little babe who is constantly kicking.”
Sansa’s grin widens at the mention. “That one will be a fighter then?”
You can’t help but mirror her gesture and nod. “That’s what Jon says. He’ll grow gray hairs for sure.”
Sansa laughs softly. “It’s lucky he’s quite patient then.”
You nod, letting her continue.
“I don’t know if I have said this before, but I am glad Jon met you. It seems that ever since I have seen him with you there’s this spark that wasn’t there before.”
You blink in disbelief and meet her pale blue eyes.
“He smiles a lot at you, and is never far from you.”
You scoff softly and can’t help the heat that begins to burn your face as you grow flustered.
“And I have never seen him so excited as he is now waiting for those baby’s to be born.”
“I’m lucky I met him too,” you mutter softly. “He,” you sigh. “He’s very kind. Gentle, loyal and passionate.”
Sansa giggles. “Is he?”
You nod. “He is, of course he’s mostly so in private. I never thought that I’d actually be fortunate enough to have someone like him, you know? I was told that I was going to be matched with someone, at first it was my uncle, Viserys, Daenerys brother, then it was your brother Robb Stark.”
“Really?” Sansa cuts in with disbelief.
You nod. “Yes, but of course before the proposal could be shared it was heard he was married.”
Sansa smirks. “That’s something I would’ve liked to see.”
“But,” you continue to add. “Marrying out of love is something I never knew I would get, now that I have it I’m thankful.”
Sansa hums softly before she grabs onto you tighter. “I’m glad the gods put you in our lives. I’m glad you got what you wanted. You deserve it.”
“You,” you press her now and meet her gaze. “Will you give love a shot now? And I don’t mean marry someone because it’s what’s best for someone else, but for love.”
Sansa looks ahead and swallows thickly. “I,” she sighs. “Don’t know. Perhaps maybe in a couple years. Then again my duty should come first.”
You scoff and shake your head. “You’ve done that already; Respected your duty and married someone you didn't like, now it's time for you to control your own destiny. You deserve to be loved, and love someone unconditionally.”
Sansa blinks repeatedly as she lets out a deep breath. “Maybe you’re right.”
“Well,” you add excitedly. “If you are willing, I know some people. I have a cousin from my mothers side, he’s brothers with the new prince of Dorne. He’s tall, kind, and devoted. He likes poems, and he is a skilled fighter.” You grin, and see Sansa hide her smile.
“Take your time though,” you assure her and just smirk deeper. “And you, Ser Brienne,” you pull her into the conversation and peer back. “Have you and Ser Jaime deepened your relationship?”
The knight looks at Sansa in disbelief as to how you knew, before exhaling and shaking her head as she meets your curious gaze. “No, not since he left. But even if he didn’t I am now a sworn knight to the QueensGuard, I’m forbidden.”
You snicker. “Forbidden from marriage and bearing children, yes, but not forbidden from having fun. You can still divulge in your own pleasures, men do it all the time even after they’ve had the same titles you do. Just make sure to make it to your watch and be attentive when it’s your turn. That’s all.”
“I don’t think I will,” she says. “It’s just not me.”
You hum and respect her decision. “All right, I respect it, but just know that if you want to drink until you pass out or lay with men, you may. I trust you to know your limit. That’s all.” You offer her a kind smile before you look ahead and watch guards open the doors to the training yard.
There are many people scattered about the yard all occupied on their own thing, there a group of women gathered around Podrick Payne, Ser Brienne’s squire. When they all see you walking down the steps they all turn and stop what they’re doing to bow and curtsy.
It’s still a strange concept to see, all these people now so attentive towards you. It’s not unfamiliar, you’ve been apart of royal life because of your uncles, but it’s strange now because it’s directed at you.
“It’s okay,” you address the crowd. “Back to you were.”
Those scattered around focus back on their own thing, letting you come to a stop regardless to let Ser Brienne walk ahead towards the group of women and Podrick.
“My Queen,” Ser Brienne interjects and shoots the women and Podrick a passing look that makes them line up in a straight line. “These are the candidates. Here,” she points to a young looking, but rather short, and muscularly toned woman with dark brown skin and black hair that almost matched the night sky. “Lana, she was picked from the Dornish forces, she’s not as tall as the others, but she’s quick on her feet, harsh with her strikes, and skilled with many weapons.”
You hum and study her toned body before landing on her black eyes that looked as if she was piercing into your soul. She looks intimidating, making for a perfect demeanor for a Queensguard.
“Good,” you comment. “The next?”
Ser Brienne nods and walks past Lana to point at the next woman, she’s average height, leaner, but she still has toned muscles.
“This is Marielizabeth, she’s one of the freefolk that remained here. She’s vicious, and strong. She’s mostly skilled with an axe, but still very skilled with other weapons. Impressively so.”
You hum and notice scars all over her arms; stories you always liked to think. So she’s quite experienced, and not afraid to get hurt, which is good.
“This is May,” ser Brienne points to a tall woman you recognize from the Dornish armies; she’s not the same height as Ser Brienne, but she’s close. Her shoulders are broad, and her biceps are big, she’s built like an ox. She’s very impressive.
“She was one of my first picks, she’s commander of one of the Dornish armies. That speaks for itself,” Ser Brienne adds, making you hum in comprehension. “This is her twin sister, Rayne,” Ser Brienne continues to point at the woman next to May. She wasn’t as muscular as her sister, but you can tell she’s just as fierce. “She’s skilled with a great many weapons. Reserved, but fierce. Next, is Alys Snow, she prefers long rage attacks, but she is also good at hand to hand combat.”
Alys has very strong northern features, dark eyes, dark hair, tall, pale, and dark long hair, albeit her hair does have a white streak that goes with the paler patches on her arms and over her left eye.
“And lastly,” Ser Brienne finishes and stops by Podrick. “The man I vouch for, Podrick Payne. He has trained under me for years now. He’s grown skilled, he’s loyal and will never let you down.”
You lift your chin and narrow your gaze whilst you let go of Sansa to slowly approach all the candidates. “I’m impressed Ser Brienne, by all the candidates, there are somethings I want to ask all of you though,” you draw in a deep breath and look down the row of people. You then exhale at the same time a mighty roar breaks in the sky, like a clap of thunder, sudden and booming. All their eyes snap to the sky above you to look for the dragon that they hear, but Eraxis is quiet and surprises them by descending down from behind them.
They only know of her presence when her large feet hit the roofs, and her head is already lowering in the courtyard.
“Are you scared?” You ask the lined up candidates whilst you slowly stride around them to reach Eraxis’s side. “Are you willing to give your lives for me, are you willing to give your hearts, and spill your blood?”
All eyes leave the dragon at your side and try to focus on you even as Eraxis begins to snarl. “Yes,” they all answer simultaneously.
“Good,” you assure them as you nod. “Now,” you say and reach over to caress Eraxis' side. “I will give you a choice, all of you. You can leave,” you say honestly and drift your gaze to them. “You may follow Daenerys if it suits your beliefs, if you see her as the true Queen. You may leave anytime you want in fact, just know if you turn your cloaks and betray me there won’t be a corner in this world where you can hide from me and Eraxis.”
The mighty white she-dragon snarls louder, flashing her sharp and large black teeth.
“We will give our lives for you, Queen,” May says and steps forward to get on one knee. The others do the same thing right after, letting her add on. “From this day until the rest of our days. Our lives and weapons are yours.”
You exhale deeply and drop your scowl to offer them a soft nod. “Good,” you comment. “Very good. Get up Knights of the Queensguard.”
Eraxis pulls her head back and grows quiet, letting you lean your head against her. “I hope,” you add. “You get accustomed to Eraxis quickly, we’re quite attached, and if the gods are generous then there will be more dragons when my children bond with their dragons.” You sigh and face them. “And now you may get fitted for armor, and white cloaks, thank you.” You turn and hurry to Eraxis' neck.
“I don’t think you should ride her,” Sansa suggests.
You flick your wrist down and brush her off. “It’s alright. I flew when I was about eight months with child with Rhaenar. Besides, Eraxis takes good care of me. I won’t fly far.”
Before Sansa can argue further, or before Jon could come and stop you, you climb on Eraxis and let her take you to the skies.
——
*LATER*
How could life turn out this way? How did you get here? So far North, so far from any grain of sand, from the beautiful glimmering sea, far from the sun? Far from home?
For so long you always longed for more, you never fit at Sunspear, there was always a part of you missing. When you met Jon it seems that the gap was filled, but now? Now with Rhaenar gone, you wish you had relished that time, your family, Sunspear, those summer nights with your sisters that are now gone. You truly belonged there and you longed for more, now there’s no place you’d rather go back in time to then those times. You’d take Jon and you’d have all you ever wanted.
You exhale deeply and open your eyes to welcome the sight of the starry sky, you reach one hand out for the shining moon in the night sky as if that was the thing needed to turn back time.
A tear escapes past your eye and brings warmth to your face.
“Wouldn’t you like to go back home, Eraxis?” You ask your dragon.
Alas she doesn’t answer and just keeps sleeping. You drop your hand back to your chest, and just as you do there descending from the stars is a dragon that looks almost black at night, but his scales gleam green thanks to the moonlight's hues; Rhaegal and Jon.
You stay where you are and watch Rhaegal land not far from you. The sound of his feet hitting the snow covered ground causes Eraxis to wake up and lift her head whilst she curls up further to hide you. Albeit when she notices it’s just Jon she eases.
His footsteps soon begin to crunch closer to you, but you continue to stay where you are and watch the stars painted in the sky.
“Aye, love,” you hear him say as he gets closer. “You had me worried. You’re not frozen there are you?”
A smile cracks on your face, and you quietly assure his worry. “No.”
He stops by you, but you can’t see because your eyes are on the sky.
“I waited for you at home, but when you didn’t come we came to you.” He continues to add. “You…have Ser Brienne worried. I think she almost climbed on Rhaegal to come search for you.”
You let out a deep sigh and answer his questions. “I just….needed to get away from it all, you know? I…I’m not used to being Queen yet.”
Jon sighs and he takes a few cautious steps forward to now be beside you, and then leans his face over so you can see him, and so he can make sure you’re actually okay.
“No one’s ready,” he says. “But we don’t run away.”
You blink slowly and finally meet his brown eyes and sit up. “Life was easier when I was just a lost princess. I…never imagined life would bring me here. I never imagined I’d be in this position.”
Jon slowly begins to take a seat beside you and lifts his gaze to the sky. “And life was easier for me when I was just a bastard outcasted in my own home….I never imagined I’d be here either.” His voice begins to soften. “When I was dying that night my brothers betrayed me, I came to terms with my death. I had to…” he pauses and lowers his gaze to the snow below you both. “But here I am, for some reason I’m still alive. Maybe it was to find you,” he admits and lifts his gaze to meet yours. “To finally understand what I want.”
You scoff softly, but can’t help your bashful smile. He proceeds to grab your hand and cups it, providing warmth to your flesh. “What do you want?” You ask softly.
Jon shoots you a soft smile and shares. “I never imagined having a family, I never gave it too much thought. I was a bastard. Here unfortunately they aren’t so welcoming to bastards like in Dorne. My place was at the Night's Watch, but after I got a second chance, when I met you I knew at that moment I wanted to be with you. I wanted a family. Now that the dead are gone I want peace, I want to see our children grow, that’s all I want.”
You draw in a deep breath and drop your gaze. “We’ve,” you breathe out. “Strayed from what we wanted haven't we? Maybe we should have stayed here in this cave.” You mention and glance at the waterfall that was in the distance, the same one you came to when Jon first rode Rhaegal.
Jon swallows thickly and nods. “We should have.”
“Do you think it was a mistake?” You blurt and keep your gaze averted. “Naming myself Queen and declaring war? I know we can’t go back anymore, but was it a mistake?” You blink and look up to meet his gaze and wait for his response.
Jon takes a moment before he answers. “No,” he admits. “It wasn’t. Besides, there's no turning back now. There’s only ahead, we fight for us, for them, for our children.”
You hold his gaze for a minute before you nod in agreement. “You’re right.” You sigh and then rest your forehead on his shoulder. “Can you stay here with me for a while longer? I don’t want to go back yet.”
Jon wraps his arm around your neck to begin caressing the back of your neck. “Of course.”
You smile softly with content and snuggle yourself closer to him. You let some silence pass before you break it with a happier topic. “Rhaenyra and Robb, does that work for you? Just Robb, Robert is a bit too inappropriate considering he’s the man that killed…you know who.”
Jon scoffs and you feel him shrug. “I truly don’t know, I’m stuck. Perhaps, Aemon? Aegon?”
You pull your head back and look at him with a questioning and judgmental look. “Aegon? Really? Aegon, the what? The tenth? No,” you shake your head. “Not Aegon. And I mean that very offensively to you, Aegon.”
Jon chuckles. “Yes, I agree, Aegon is overused. I’ll ask my sisters what they prefer.” Jon’s smirk then widens. “Sansa has shown me what she made the baby's. They're matching outfits.”
You grin. “Really? That’s cute. I can’t wait. But you’ve got to be careful, she might take your children away.” You giggle. “And raise them herself.”
Jon snickers. “Might save us the headache. They’re twins after all.”
You nod. “Very true.”
Jon’s gaze lingers on you, his smile softens and a breath catches in his throat, making your face burn hotter and your smile turn timid once again.
“I want to show you something,” he break his short silence. “It will require us to go on dragonback though.”
You squint your gaze and retort. “As long as you’re not tricking me and taking me back home then alright.”
Jon scoffs and shakes his head. “No. Not home. We’re going to the wall.”
Your curiosity grows, but you let him help you up to your feet, and then let him walk you to Eraxis side so you can climb up to your saddle. But just as you lift one foot, there in the distance approaching the waterfall you catch sight of a White Stag.
It’s white fur glistens against the moonlight's touch, its large antlers curve to the shining stars, and it’s dark eyes…they find you.
It can’t be true though, can it?
It’s a figment of your imagination….
“Jon?” You whisper and put your foot back on the ground.
“What?” He queries and looks at you.
You point at the white hart ahead, causing him to follow what you point to. When he sees it his breath catches in his throat, and you feel his body stiffen under your touch.
“You’re seeing it?” You ask.
Jon swallows thickly and nods. “Aye, I am,” he agrees, letting you know that you aren’t going crazy.
“It’s beautiful,” you muse and take a step towards it.
The white stag departs from the waterfall and slowly begins to walk towards you, alerting Rhaegal of its presence and causing the dragon to also approach.
Albeit, Jon catches his attempts and stops him. “Rhaegal, no. That’s not food.”
You pull the corner of your lips to a soft smile, and stop just as you reach Eraxis back legs so as to not startle the white stag as it comes to a stop as well.
“What do you think it’s doing all the way out here?”
“Probably just looking for food, or wandered too far,” Jon responds.
You hum in agreement and let your eyes linger on the mythical creature for a moment longer before you touch Eraxis and turn away. “Let’s go,” you tell Jon and your dragon. “Let’s leave it be.”
Jon offers his hand, and even if you really don’t need it, you take it anyway and let him help you up to the saddle. Once you’re mounted he goes to Rhaegal to climb, when he’s on top, the dragons then take flight and you don’t take long to be a part of the night sky.
Feeling the breeze on your skin refreshes your being. You wish it could blow away all the sorrow, but the wind brings no such solution, just a short relief and joy.
Once Jon and you arrive at a part of the ice wall that still stands, your curiosity only heightens since you see nothing unusual.
“What is it?” You ask him as you meet halfway between your dragons.
Jon interlaces his hand with yours and responds. “Just wait. Look ahead though.”
You squint softly before hesitantly following orders and looking at the dark horizon ahead. You wait there and let him embrace you to keep you warm since being so high up is colder.
You wait, but not so long after, just as you were going to ask why you were here, you catch it, the sun breaking over the horizon. You see its sun rays hitting the icy wall and making it shine. The bright but soft hues are mesmerizing and breathtaking. All you can do is smile.
“I’m sure you’ve missed the sun, I apologize you can't see much here,” Jon breaks the silence. “I hope this helps.”
You nod softly and break your eyes away from the rising sun to meet his blazing brown eyes already focused on you. “It’s beautiful,” you murmur.
Jon nods. “It is.” He coos and then cups your cheeks to pull you in for a sweet kiss, there in front of the blazing sunrise.
——
*SOMETIME LATER*
“Y/N, my love. While we were out at sea. We were ambushed, they hit our ship with a cannon before they attacked…we tried, we fought hard, but there were losses due to a fire…Rhaenar didn’t make it...”
This is for you Rhaenar. This is all for you.
You exhale deeply and press your hands on your face and drag them down to smear blood down your face. A sign of your devotion, your anger and revenge. A frightening sight as well for the enemies.
When you look up at the mirror the sight of the scarlet blood on your face even catches your own breath out of surprise, but that quickly washes away as your anger rises and replaces your disbelief. You then raise your chin and drag out a deep breath before turning and walking out of the room.
And the moment you walk past the door, two of your Queensguard knights follow behind you in their shiny silver armor that’s not as bulky as the men’s are; it lets them move better and swifter. They drag their white cloak that contrasts against your red one beautifully. More and more of them join you as you walk outside to head to your dragon and ride towards Kings Landing to commence your first attack while Jaime, Arya and your sister Sarella snuck Tyrion out.
Once you make it outside, past the gates Jon and Ser Brienne join your side and stop as you do as you see all the women that had volunteered to be a part of the diversion. It catches you by surprise, but also pride and joy that so many chose to risk their lives.
Yet just as you were going to thank them, a woman with long black hair, an aquiline nose, and tan skin places her right hand over her heart and goes down on one knee and bows her head. Some others see her do it so they mirror her actions, leaving you stunned and happy since you know what it means.
“What’s happening?” Jon asks in confusion.
Elia steps forward and you see her grin before answering. “It’s a sign of respect in some parts of Dorne. It’s only ever used for prayer, or for when you talk to your ancestors like say our Princess Nymeria. They’re showing y/n the outermost respect.”
You smile and catch that your own guards, the ones from Dorne also mirrored the actions of the women ahead, slowly causing everyone else to fall on their knee and put their fist over their heart. So you then put your own fist over your heart and bow your head.
“I swear,” you interject loudly. “I will do my best to bring every single one of you back.” You sigh with content, and then turn to face Jon as they rise. “Don’t you dare leave me alone in this world.”
Jon doesn’t question what you have on your face and cups your cheek. “I’ll try my best:”
You hold his gaze and chuckle softly before you let him pull you in for a quick but deep kiss. When he pulls back he then presses a kiss on your forehead as one last goodbye before you’re off, because regardless if you’re flying side by side, even if you were going to stay together the entire time when you’re at battle, it’s still war and either of you can still vanish. It’s why goodbyes are hard and so meaningful each time.
If it were up to him you’d be riding on the same dragon, especially the moment you arrive at the gates of Kings Landing, but you wouldn't let that happen, you’re too blood hungry, and require for this first attack to be a spectacle.
“What do you see?” Jon asks as Eraxis and Rhaegal begin to hover in the sky above the grounds of the gate. You pull out the extra telescope you always carried…out of instinct because of Rhaenar, and throw it at Jon as you look down through yours.
“The women are approaching the gates,” you share.
There was not an army of them but there were a few. And you can’t hear them all from so high, but you know what they’re saying, “mercy,” “we seek refuge from the mad queen that is forcing us to fight”. They all look homely too, exhausted to make all the unsullied believe their cry for help.
And just as you assumed they do, they take the fucking bait!
“Thank the gods,” you sigh with relief and glance over at Jon to share a relieved smile.
“I hope Arya is doing well,” Jon worries.
You look back at the women, seeing that the unsullied are bringing backup to try and help.
“I'm positive she is,” you assure him. “She’s truly impressive. I never hear her approaching when we’re home, she’s always lurking too. Besides, she was the one that got revenge for your brother and his wife, right?”
“Aye, she did,” he agrees.
“The story of how she did it is impressive and badass,” you continue. “She said she was going to uh, use other faces this time too, so perhaps, the person you should be worried about is us. Let’s hope Daenerys doesn’t come out.”
Jon stays quiet for a moment as you keep watching below.
“I don’t see Drogon anywhere,” Jon points out. “So either that’s a good or bad thing. We’ll have to wait and see.”
You hum in agreement and lean more forward to get a better view as you finally spot a glimpse of Ser Brienne, and the other girls under their cloaks as they finally begin to walk through the crowd of women to reach the leading Unsullied soldier, and begin the attack.
“It’s about to start,” you let Jon know with excitement.
And from one moment to the next, as you watch Ser Brienne pretend to be helpless she then swings her arm out of her cloak and slashes the soldiers throats, causing the twins, May and Rayne, to swiftly twirl around and switch sides to then stab more unsullied. Lana uses her speed to knock a man half her size off his feet and then rams her sword through this face, whilst Alys throws her whip around one soldier and pulls him to her blade, and lastly MariElizabeth stabs her dagger through one guards eye and then grabs him to turn him and throw him through Ser Brienne's sword.
The other women drop their helpless act and strike as well before any unsullied soldiers can strike, managing to take down half of the small army that had gone out to help.
And now before any lives can be lost on your side, Jon and you share a quick smug passing glance before you nudge your dragons. They then flap their wings, and then shoot down towards the ground with quick speed.
You may not be able to actually join the battle with your own spear in hand, but this? Feeling this rush pump through your veins and striking your heart does make up for it.
Alas, just before either Rhaegal or Eraxis can hit the ground they swoop up and rain fire over the remaining army that was unfortunate enough to be outside of the gates. Just as both dragons meet in the middle, they turn to their sides to pass each other, and then swing around your army to land in the empty space behind them.
The moment your feet hit the ground, the women all line up and let the Knights of your Queens guard stride pass to reach you, and surround Jon and you.
“Any casualties?” You ask Ser Brienne as she falls beside you.
The knight shakes her head. “None, your Grace. Just them.”
You smirk smugly and look at small flames raising out of the ash covered ground.
“There’s a few wounded,” Ser Brienne continues to add. “That’s it, nothing severe. They did good.”
You nod. “As did you. All of you,” you compliment the rest of your Queensguard. “Have Ser Podrick and my sister Elia lead the women out to get looked at before we meet up with Ser Jaime and the girls.”
Without saying anything Ser Brienne looks back to speechlessly tell Ser Marielizabeth to lead the women to those you named, whilst you stride towards the gates to wait.
Luckily you don’t long because then out comes Lord—no sorry, the King Consort, Gendry Baratheon on horseback, by his side is someone else, a tall man with brown hair, a rugged look, and wearing brown leather armor. He’s new, you haven’t seen him before, so he must be the one and only Daario Naharis, Daenerys' ex lover.
“King Gendry,” you're the one to break the silence. “Suits you. I would curtsy, but I don’t show respect for traitors.”
Gendry shakes his head and then glances at Jon beside you. “It doesn’t need to come to this. We can stop this now, just bend the knee to the Queen and all will be forgiven,” he says.
You share an unbothered look with Jon before you look around first before looking at the man again. “Where is Daenerys?”
The other man, Daario Nahris steps forward and answers. “She’s gone. She went to some place called Dorne. You know of it?”
You immediately pretend to act shocked and hurt by his insinuations so it could seem that you didn’t already have a plan.
“Daario Nahris,” you name and tilt your head. “The Queen's lover. It’s nice to finally meet you, she’s spoken a lot about you.” You smirk and drift your gaze to Gendry, catching him go stiff.
“No,” Daario clears his throat. “Just a faithful commander and follower.”
You hum and nod. “Well anyway,“ you sigh deeply. “Can you give Daenerys a message for me?” You raise your chin and continue. “If she wants me dead tell her to come face me alone, no dragons, no army, just us in hand to hand combat.” You scoff softly knowing she would lose in a second. “The winner becomes Queen. If not, well, I’m looking forward to facing her in battle.” You turn to end the conversation, but you remember one thing.
“Ah,” you share and turn around on your heels. “A congratulations is in order, I’d say becoming a father is much more complicated than leading.” You look between both men not knowing who could be the father of Daenerys child that Bran said she’s having after you did your spell.
“Regardless,” you continue. “A baby is such a miracle, especially after being told you’re barren. Give her my sincere congratulations.” You feign a smile and glance at Gendry and Daario one more time before focusing on Daario alone. “So I hope that Daenerys took company to Dorne, she’ll come to find it a futile trip. She may burn our homes, but she’ll never find them until they attack first.” You exhale and shoot them a small smirk before turning again and heading back to Eraxis, missing the confusion in Jon’s look after you shared the news about Daenerys pregnancy.
How would you know he asked himself.
He doesn’t ask you at that moment though, he stays quiet and climbs on Rheagal to then meet up with Arya, Sarella, and Ser Jaime.
It takes a few minutes for them to meet up with you at the crossroads, but when they eventually come all three come back alive and unscathed, and a man sits behind Ser Jaime.
“Arya,” Jon greets with relief and walks over to her horse to check for any wounds. “You’ve made it are you hurt?”
Arya looks down at Jon and shakes her head. “No. Thanks to the disguises we went in without getting spotted.”
“Albeit,” Sarella interjects. “He wasn’t at the dungeons, so we took a detour.”
You hum and try and examine her as best as you can. “Are you okay, Sarella?”
Said girl nods. “Of course. You might want to check Lord Tyrion’s pants, he basically shat himself when he saw us take the face masks off.” She snickers and side eyes the man behind Ser Jaime.
You follow her line of gaze and see him there, dirty, and with his facial hair a bit longer.
“It’s not true,” Tyrion rebuttals. “Just surprised, that's all.”
“Are you alright, Ser Jaime?” You continue to ask and focus on the one handed knight.
The man nods. “Yes, I’m still taken back by the fact that I had to wear someone else’s face, besides that, yes I’m fine.”
“Good.”
Tyrion then clears his throat and interjects. “I should thank you…Queen Y/N, and…King Jon, my brother says it’s thanks to your mercy that I was rescued.”
You nod stiffly. “Yes, but I’ll be honest, you're a political gain. If we didn’t need you you’d still be there.”
The man nods. “I assumed so. But just so you know I am not of high value to the Westerlands, I'm a dwarf who killed his own father.”
You scoff. “Yes I understand, but some of these Lords rather have you as their lord than follow me or Daenerys, so they’d say anything to reject me, I’m taking precautions. Isn’t that what a good ruler does?” You ask.
Tyrion sighs. “I suppose yes.”
You hum softly and then look around you. “Let’s pack up and get going before we find trouble. There’s no casualties, I want to keep it that way.”
“I swear I’ve had this very same dream once,” Tyrion mutters as he notices all the women in armor.
——
*LATER*
“Anything from the Velaryon’s?” You ask as you tilt your head and watch the small orange dragon fly about outside the window.
“The Lord Montery’s Velaryon says he will remain faithful to House Baratheon,” Sansa shares whilst she slowly approaches you. “Those taking over for the little Lord are scared. We can’t blame them.”
You sigh and nod softly. “I know. What about the man that calls himself Lord of the Waters, Aurane Waters?” You continue to ask for the bastard of Driftmark since he’s an experienced pirate with enough ships to possibly fight Daenerys.
“He says that if there’s no Queen then there’s no deal,” Sansa shares and stops by your side to watch Helios.
You scoff and roll your eyes. “Isn’t a dragon egg enough? He has Tagaryen ancestors from years of our family alliance and intertwined lineage. There’s a chance a dragon may hatch and bond to him, small but it’s there.”
“You’d think,” Sansa agrees. “But sometimes the desire for too much power is the downfall.”
You lift your head and meet her gaze to nod with a small smile. Silence then follows for a moment when you focus back on the orange dragon, but she then grows curious and interjects.
“What happens to him now?” Sansa refers to Helios. “Does he stay?”
You let out a deep breath and shake your head. “No. He’ll leave soon. He’ll wander the world alone and riderless now. Grow and just fly.” You drop your gaze to hide your watery gaze.
Sansa notices nevertheless and reaches for your hand to hold it in hers. You don’t look up at her, but you acknowledge her attempts at comfort and give her hand a gentle squeeze.
You remain that way for a few minutes until a knock raps on the door.
“Come in,” you speak out loud.
The door opens, making you peer back and catch Jon walking in. He looks the same as usual, brooding and handsome.
“Sansa is it okay if I talk to y/n…alone?” He breaks his silence as he stops past the door.
Sansa let’s go of your hand and nods before turning to you and bowing her head before walking out and leaving Jon and you alone.
“What is it?” You ask Jon and break away from your spot to approach him with a small smile. “Are you okay?” You ask and press your hands gently on his chest.
Jon meets your gaze for a second before he drops his head and sighs deeply whilst a frown forms on his lips, cluing you that this wasn’t a pleasant visit.
“What’s wrong?” You ask Jon more seriously now.
“How did you know about Daenerys?” He asks without hesitation.
You blink in surprise and scoff softly. “Bran,” you tell him the partial truth, since Bran did confirm that Daenerys did get pregnant after her wedding, after your spell.
Jon meets your gaze regardless of your answer as if he could read your mind, and presses. “Is that all? Why didn’t you share the news then?”
You shrug. “I just thought it would be surprising if I announced it when I told them too. Why does it matter?” You turn around and begin to walk back to the balcony.
Jon follows slowly and retorts. “Why does it matter? Because we’re supposed to be doing all this together. You’re supposed to share stuff with me y/n.”
You sigh and turn to face him and press on the matter carelessly. “I’m sorry I just didn’t think it was such a big deal.”
Jon holds your gaze for a second before you look away and try and turn back to continue towards Helios still flying outside your window.
“I like to think I know you well enough to tell when you’re lying,” he adds, making you hold your breath. “Please tell me I’m wrong about this matter. Tell me you’re not hiding anything about this y/n.”
You slowly breathe out as you approach the window, and argue back. “Does it matter if I am or aren't?”
Footsteps approach before he interjects. “It does. We are man and wife, you’re…you’re my best friend. Don’t you trust me?”
You let out a deep sigh and nod softly. “I do, but…” you pause and grip onto the windows railing.
“Tell me,” he insists.
“There’s just somethings you wouldn't understand,” you share and turn slowly to face him. “Things from my culture that you don’t understand.”
Jon blinks in slight disbelief before he sighs and counters. “What things?” He asks. “Help me understand then. We’re partners, help me understand because if it’s about Rhaenar than I do understand, I know you’re pain.”
You scoff and slowly shake your head. “But you don’t,” You counter. “You don’t understand my pain, my grief. He wasn’t your son, he was mine, and…everyday that passes without him I break a little inside. You—you will hopefully never feel such pain with our children, I don’t want you to. So you don’t understand Jon. You wouldn't understand why I did what I did.”
Jon holds your gaze for a moment, letting you see the wave of emotions that pass in his gaze; disbelief, hurt and confusion. “Then help me, tell me.” He insists
You hesitate for a moment, you just hold his gaze as you debate between telling him or not. But he wants to know so you do. “She was barren,” you begin to explain and stay where you are. “I did a spell that made her fertile again. Not so long after she got married Bran told me about her expecting a babe of her own. That’s all I did.”
Jon’s gaze widens and he finally closes the gap between the two of you before retorting. “Magic? You used magic?”
“It’s a war Jon—” you cut him off. “It’s a war. And it didn’t harm anyone, it was just one spell. So please don’t judge me. Magic is a part of my culture as a Valyrian. My ancestors did it, I did it before, I did it now with Daenerys, but that’s all.”
Jon parts his lips and scoffs with disbelief before he shakes his head and turns around to gather his thoughts. You stay put and watch him before you add one more thing. “A son for a son, that’s all I want. She…she needs to feel my pain, she—”
“You can’t let your anger cloud your judgment, y/n,” Jon cuts you off and turns around abruptly to face you, causing your breath to catch at the sound of his words since those words are something you’ve heard before…from your uncle Doran.
He’s gone now too. He along with everyone else.
He said those words to you before he died.
“You’ll just become one of them,” Jon adds. “You want to fight against that. You can’t become what you fear. I will support you, but not if you keep secrets, not if you kill innocent lives.”
Tears begin to fill your eyes, and your legs begin to weaken before you fall to your knees and drop your head to cry quietly.
Jon sighs and falls on his own knees to grab your cheeks and lift your face. “I,” he says. “I know our cultures are different. I can try and understand all that…magic stuff, but not if it involves sacrificing innocent lives. If Daenerys has her babe, you can’t harm it. You’ll get no relief from it, only more pain. Take her throne, get rid of her armies, but not her child. You’re better than that, I know it.”
Tears fall from your eyes, and you can’t help but drop your head as guilt begins to slam into you. “I did it,” you cry. “I did do it…but they were dying already…I just…I'm sorry. I just miss him.” You begin to sob and push his hands away out of your own shame. “Please don’t leave me. Please don’t judge me…please…I need you.”
Jon watches you for a second as he process your words before wraps his arms around you and pulls you in for an embrace. “My love,” he whispers. “I’m here. Always. I love you. Just promise me it’s the last time. Just promise me you won’t harm her child when it comes.”
You hold onto him and nod stiffly. “I promise,” you whisper but don’t mean it.

More Than Our Servitude
(TV Show!) Sandor Clegane x Fem!Reader | Fluff & Romance | One-shot | Requested | SFW TRIGGER WARNING: The Reader-insert has experienced physical abuse/corporal punishment and canon-typical class oppression.
Summary: You lived your life as one of the washerwomen of the Red Keep, only seeing the Hound in passing. Still, when the madness of the Battle of Blackwater erupted, he came for you. The Hound is weary from battle, but you try and soothe what little you can. Reader-Insert info: Kind, caring, gentle. Minor backstory just to ground you in the world.
Smoke, sweat, and horse. You were used to those smells. It clung to the cloaks of Kingsguards and the men-at-arms of the Red Keep, lingering on their linens. It was the other, thick and heavy, a stench you hoped never to learn, that made bile push up your throat. Burnt flesh. Dropping the fold of your cloak, a tuft of Stranger's black mane took its place in your hand.
Everything felt like a strange dream... You waited and waited for it to end, for you to wake and look up at the planks of the bunk bed above. A morn like the hundreds of morns before them.
How many days had it been since the entire world glowed? When the blackness of the night and the steady drums of Stannis Baratheon's fleet gave way to bursting green and thunder. Closing your eyes, you could still see it. The green shard soaring up into the sky, like the Seven Hells themselves had opened, ready to swallow the city whole. Why had you been so foolish? Why did you have to go out by the washer lines? Maybe if you had stayed inside and prayed with the others, you'd been spared their screams? The shrieks of burning men.
The dream hadn't gone, plate and mail chirred behind you. The Hound hadn't said much since that night. Drunk and bloodied, he had come for you.
"If possible, could our camp for the night be by water?" you asked, peering back the usual clenched face met you, his gaze empty.
Clegane had said little of that night, but even if he had, what answer could you offer to make the pain any less? The few times he spoke, he cursed them all. Only one thing you knew for certain.
"I'm sorry Lady Sansa wouldn't come," you said.
"Should have gone to you first. You'd not frightened the little bird," he replied.
Hearing him talk was enough to make you sigh out in relief.
"Wouldn't I? I am a stranger to her. With all that she's been through, I doubt that poor girl would be quick to trust anyone but if I had convinced her... I know it's selfish, but I wouldn't have wanted to know. Better to remain oblivious." Your answer made the Hound look down, his brow furrowing. "I admit that I do not know much about horses, but three on one back?"
"That what's been going on inside that head of yours?" he grunted.
"No," you replied. "I dream about a bath and a chance to wash our clothes."
Clegane huffed and fixed his gaze back on the path ahead. He had tried to rid himself of the stench, the rag had wiped away the blood and layers of mud, but the stench of burnt flesh stayed.
The river twined through the forest, cutting through the earth, eroding it away and exposing roots, making pine trees bow to the water. Clegane pressed his heels into the sides of his stallion, muttering about being crushed while you both slept.
"Please don't," you piped as the man swung off and grabbed the reigns.
Stranger already stomping as you slid into the saddle, gripping the edge like a vice.
"He needs rest. You're lighter, I walk quicker. Relax and he'll stop," Clegane said.
"Can't warhorses bite one's face off?"
"True. So what got you so tightened up, think he'll reach that pretty little face and tear it off while you're on his back?" he snorted and began to lead his horse.
Each attempt you made to suggest a campsite was promptly dismissed.
The ground is too damp. You'd be sleeping in a bog. There weren't enough shrubs. Anyone could see you. There were too many shrubs. Someone could sneak up and slit your throat.
Finally, when the sky had turned purple, and the sun had gone behind the trees, the Hound was content. The river wider, its waters slow, and no pine loomed above, ready to swat you both like bugs. Clegane's hands closed around your waist, and for the briefest of moments, he was so very near.
It had been easy back at the Red Keep. You would mostly see him twice a day, come morn and eve, when the Hound made his way from the White Sword Tower to be by King Joffrey's side. He was always busy, always moving, never staying long enough to see the flush across your face after meeting his gaze.
It was harder on the back of Stranger. If you leaned back, he'd be there, and with a slight movement of his arms, you'd finally feel the Hound's embrace. They never did, his hands kept rest by his legs, and even those were only close enough so you'd stay securely on Stranger's back. But sitting in front of him, it didn't matter how much your cheeks prickled if he couldn't see your face.
It was impossible when he helped you down. To feel like nothing in his hands, no more cumbersome than the basket of laundry. Darting to the side as soon your feet touched the ground, your only defense, you looked around.
"I'll fetch something for the fire."
"Going to check the surroundings," he muttered and strode off.
You hadn't been able to bring much, only the satchel that accompanied you on your daily duties around the castle. Rags, soap, and scented oils. Not precisely items one would want in the wilderness, but with them, you managed to prepare the shoreline for his bath.
You were feeding the campfire with another log when the Hound emerged from the dark. The strands of hair stuck to his forehead with sweat. His breathing quick.
"Were there any problems?" you asked.
"No."
Rising, you wiped away the dirt from your hands and nodded towards the shore. "You may go first, Clegane."
"I didn't take you with me so I'd have a servant," he spat.
Splaying your skirt, you curtsied deep, head bowed. "Your bath is ready, my lord," you said softly before meeting his dark eyes once more, smiling. "That is what I would have said if I was your servant. If you need help with your armor, I'll try and-"
"And that's not serving me?" Clegane waved to the forest around you. "Are you mistaking these trees for stone? This is not the Red Keep, woman. Speak however you want."
"But I am?"
The hand soared through the air. Flinching, you shut your eyes. So now it happened. The Hound was like the others. It just took him longer. Why even get your hopes up? You should have stayed in the Red Keep... with him, it would hurt all the more.
"Open your damn eyes." His voice was just as grating and deep, but it no longer held its edge. "I'm not hitting you."
You obliged his command but the anger that had been written across his face was gone. "I'm sorry."
"That more of my honorable brothers' work?" Clegane asked.
You had never seen it, only heard the whispers, the beating of Lady Sansa by the Kingsguards' hands, not one whisper had been by his.
"The list of those who don't strike servants is far easier to give," you chuckled, "even other servants hit those a rung lower."
Tugging on one of the straps, his left pauldron soon hit the ground, then the next. Cursing Clegane undid the laces of his brigandine. Metal clanged as he tossed the boots and before he had time to remove the undertunic you had turned your back to him.
You only heard his voice, "Anyone strikes you again and I'll kill them."
The man strode into the river and you took refuge in the task at hand. It was not hard, you'd done it a thousand times, scooping up his cloak and tunic. He had kept his breeches on.
"I'll only go a bit downstream to wash these," you called and snagged your satchel.
"Stay within sight of the camp."
It wasn't too far away. The camp gone behind some trees, but you'd see it again with a short walk. Shedding your layers until the slip of undyed linen was the only thing keeping you from standing bare, you bit your lip as you entered the waters. There was no slope, the river claiming you up to your waist and the sharp sting of cold robbing you of any warmth. Soaking the cloth as your teeth shattered, squealing as a wind blew in.
A rubbing of soap. Wringing it up. Smacking the wool against the stone. Again and again. Your own cloak the next.
Smack.
Smack.
You didn't hear. The branch that broke, the footsteps—
"What are you doing?" the voice almost made the cloak slip from your fingers and float away along the river.
Spinning on your heel, you hugged the wool to your breast. No pine loomed above you but a Hound.
"Are you trying to make it easy for any broken man that finds you? You think what's left in these forests are good people? Rapers, murderers, and thieves," Clegane said.
"Y-You checked the surroundings."
Your gaze flickered down, leaving the angered stare and sending your heart hammering as you took it all in. The breeches clung to his legs and the swordbelt hastily fastened by his hip. Until then, him bare had been a figment of your imagination. The arms were thick with muscle and the chest wide. Despite youth being behind him and time leaving his face weathered, it had done little against his body. Clegane was of nobility, yet he had none of their softness. The lower of his arms tanned but faded to skin pale as milk by his shoulders.
"—within the sight of the camp," he snapped.
Huh? He had spoken, but for how long or much you couldn't tell. The anger hadn't gone from his face. Clegane wouldn't hit you. He swore he'd kill anyone who tried but explaining one's actions wasn't a favorable trait in any servant. One was to bow. One was to apologize, fault or not. But he wanted no servant either. Facing him, eyes that bore into one's soul, you steeled yourself and smiled. Gently. Pretending not to feel the heat on your cheeks.
"Without this rock, I wouldn't be able to wash our clothes. Just dunking the cloth up and down won't do much of anything. Beating it against the rock loosens the dirt up," you explained, and when no snarl came you wrung the cloak up again and hit it against the stone. "See?"
Clegane said nothing as he held out his hand, and there was only to accept defeat but when you stepped up on shore the man shoved his swordbelt in your hands.
"Sit and hold this," he commanded and looked to the cloak still pinned to your breast, the mouth twitched as he spoke. "That clean?"
Nod.
Taking his tunic and with some minor pointers, he began the work instead. You couldn't look away. Sandor Clegane, the fearsome Hound, the first Kingsguard that hadn't taken his knight's vows. A man feared by all... ordered around by a washerwoman.
"What?" Clegane asked, only then did you feel the grin on your lips.
His glare didn't make the smile go. "You are a lord, is this how it feels to be one?"
"Not a lord," Clegane corrected. "Got no keep. No land."
"I believe Lord Tyrion would disagree with such an explanation," you said.
"The Imp doesn't give a rat's ass about the truth. A lord with no land nor keep is just as useless as a knight with no shield or sword," Clegane replied.
It was like flipping a coin. On the one side was the man that could snarl with little to no provocation, and on the other was the one that stood stalwart with his back turned as you bathed. The man that aided you in erecting branches so you could dry your clothes by the fire.
Sitting down, you allowed yourself to give in and feel the ache in your legs from the ride. Clegane did what he always did, walking about, tending to his horse, checking the saddlebags but then and again, you felt his eyes linger. The white slip clung to your skin, leaving little of you for him to guess... You had heard the stories. The hunger of men after a battle. If Clegane hungered, he had never come to you to still it.
You hadn't eaten. Hells, even before the escape, you hadn't. It wasn't like the King would empty his larder to feed servants when the risk of a siege loomed over them. It was perfectly expected. Who's stomach wouldn't rumble? Looking up, you met his eyes, but it wasn't like you could excuse yourself somewhere. Acting like nothing had occurred, you glanced over the forest and river.
A piece of cured meat was pressed into your hand. "Here. Eat."
Clegane seated himself by the fire, watching like a hawk.
"I'm not eating our last food just because my stomach rumbled the loudest. You are the one with a sword, and what good is a washerwoman against rapers, murderers, and thieves?" you replied and held it back towards him.
It made sense. He'd listen, just as he had with the rock, but Clegane didn't move.
"People like me go hungry all the time, I'm used to it," you said but it only made his face twist. "I'm fine."
Biting a smaller piece off for yourself, you tried again. He had to be hungry. But the meat still hovered in the air.
Sighing, you leaned forward, closing the distance, and forced your voice deep, trying to imitate his voice, "Open. Chew. Swallow."
The dark eyes flickered down before the food disappeared from your hand. "Too stubborn for your own good," he muttered.
You savored the little piece you had, the taste of salt and venison filling your mouth. Now, all that was left was to wait for your cloaks to dry. You'd sleep. Get back on Stranger and the day would repeat like the one before it. A new normal. A better normal.
"I'd had gone to you." The rasp pulled you from thought, the stars had begun to show in the night sky, Clegane's gaze fixed on the fire. "A lady like that knows how to ride a horse."
"But you don't owe me anything, we've barely talked..."
Before Joffrey Baratheon was made King, you had only seen him in the halls of the Red Keep. A greeting, a wishing of good luck if he was to ride out on one of the many hunts or to compete in a tourney. Half the time, he hadn't even replied back. It couldn't compete with saving the life of the firstborn daughter to the Warden of the North. Clegane didn't answer you, only meeting your eyes. It was the longest you had kept his gaze.
The nose scrounged up, and Clegane looked back to the fire. "Got family somewhere? Could take you to them, be with your own."
"I've never been outside the city walls. My own was maids, washerwomen, and stablehands," you replied, and so many of them were gone. "As long as you promise me we never return to the Red Keep, you can take me wherever you please."
Clegane huffed air, and silence returned. The only thing you had managed was to make it even more awkward than before. Balling up, your cheek resting against your knees, you looked out over the water and listened to the crackle of the firewood. It was better to not speak too much with Clegane. Keep quiet. At least, until he got easier to read.
It was so warm... The wool fell over your shoulders as the Hound draped his cloak over you. "Yours got some time left 'til it's dry," he said.
"Thank you." Before the man had time to sit back down you spoke again. "Would you like to share... just until my cloak is dry?"
Clegane looked half ready to snarl, but he just nodded, seating himself beside you. Taking to your feet you draped the cloak over his shoulders instead, making him frown.
"Like on the back of Stranger," you said and knelt.
Clegane's jaw clenched as he moved his legs, making room for you. It was either this or sit beside him like a red beacon. Holding the edges of the cloak shut before you, like a tent, what little of Clegane's touch you felt was an accident. An arm brushed against an elbow. A heel going past the side of a foot. The man was just as stiff as he was in the saddle.
Slowly the heat began to build inside your makeshift tent. It wrapped around you. Not of smoke, horse, or sweat. Not of burnt flesh. Him. Just him.
Breathe. Breathe and keep calm. Maybe then your heart wouldn't feel ready to explode. It was just like riding on the back of Stranger, just like-
"I do owe you." The words were nothing more than a voice in the dark, grating and deep, sending a shiver down your spine and leaving your body tingling. "Think there are many that smile at me? Stand to look me in the eye? You did. You do."
"My smile is worth the protection of a kingsguard? The one who was sworn sword to the Crown Prince?" but each question strained your throat, your mouth dry like it had never known drink.
"None of that anymore."
"Yet you are the man that earned those titles," you answered.
"Think I earned those titles by being a good man?"
Words that should make you afraid instead made an ache grow in your chest. There was so much you didn't know, only rumors and all of them bloody. It wasn't true, he was wrong and you couldn't leave him with doubt. Suffering the embarrassment of having the man see what he did to you was far less than his pain. You shuffled, with less graze than you'd wished, until his face was before you.
The light of the campfire made Clegane look older than he was, casting parts in deep shadow. The burn that had claimed so much of his right side hidden behind his hair looked even more painful. Every crater deepened and every ridge heightened. At first, it had given you pause, to see a man that could suffer such a wound and yet walk. But it was the rest, what was in those dark eyes that told so much more. You could only imagine what he'd seen, the horror. No matter how much or how long you tried you would never understand.
"I do not mean to insult you but were you not a servant too? Your servitude was one of steel and mine of cloth, but you served the Lannisters. Did their bidding. If I do not wash the linens properly I would be beaten or flogged. Am I to believe your punishment would have been lighter had you refused one of their orders? We do not hold someone to an oath if said at the point of a sword. Not even the gods do so... So why should I hold you by actions, not of your own will, when a sword was ready to claim your head had you not," you said and the sides of your mouth tugged. "I may have only smiled, spoken to you in passing but... those that notice people like me usually do so because others don't... They can do as they please, and none would know. You didn't. You were kind."
A dry chuckle left his lips, "You think this kind? Never figured you to be dim."
"Noble?" you tried but it only made his lips press shut.
The ache in your chest grew. Just one touch. One tenderness. Your fingers brushed over his hand but it disappeared as quick as if caught in flame.
"Don't have to do that." His face twisting. "I'll find somewhere safe you can live, and you find yourself some man. You don't want an old dog."
"Your not that-" but when his brow cocked, you corrected yourself. "You're no Grandmaester Pycelle."
It was so easy to be greedy. To want more. Rising, the crisp air of the night greeted you while Clegane watched in silence. "Besides, dogs do not make such poor company."
It was like kissing one of the statues of the Red Keep. Your lips lightly brushed against his forehead and patted lightly atop his head with your hand before walking to the stand where your cloak awaited. Swaying, it felt as if you had drunk an entire wine cellar. Heart ready to burst as you laid yourself down. The Hound's stare burned your back as you wrapped the cloak tight.
The rattle of metal and boiled leather made you twist around. Clegane's tunic was already on him, fastening his brigandine.
"Going to check the surroundings," he muttered.
"Be safe, and careful so you don't trip in the dark."
But he was already disappearing behind the trees. "Stop fretting..." but the rest of his muttering was too low and far away for you to hear.
You tried to stay awake, wait for him, but it had been a long day of riding, and one just as long would follow... but if he tripped, if he fought something... You looked into the fire until your eyes stung like mad but even that couldn't keep your eyelids from growing heavy. Was it a dream? A roughness grazed your temple. Clegane? You wanted to open your eyes, but your body was too tired and the world too warm. All you managed was a smile.

Her Grace's Handmaiden Pt. 19
(Sandor Clegane x Fem Reader x Cersei Lannister TW: Pregnancy, physical abuse, attempted SA)
AO3 VERSION: https://archiveofourown.org/works/48276340
The following months could only be described as a gradual descent into madness.
You were over the moon, but constantly terrified of any risks to your baby.
You followed Grandmaester Pycelle's instruction to the letter, often seeing him more than you saw your own husband.
Sandor's duties only increased when Joffrey went from Prince to King.
He was gone all day and most nights. The time he did have free was spent sleeping.
After learning of his wife's treasons, Sandor tried to convince you to distance yourself from the queen.
Any risk of the truth being known was too much.
You tried to blame your distance on the pregnancy. swollen ankles and aching hips that made too much movement uncomfortable.
But Cersei was having none of it.
"I thought you said he was fine with this."
You winced when Cersei snapped at you.
"He is my queen. That isn't why I'm leaving."
"What is it then?" The Queen opened her arms and motioned around. "Are you no longer happy here?"
"It's not that at all, please," you begged.
Cersei was at the end of her rope.
It had been months since Joffrey took the throne, and the Baratheon forces were nearly pounding on the city doors.
Both Stannis and Renly were rallying men to fight for their respective causes, while Cersei was forced to sit back and watch as Tyrion took over the duties of Hand of the King.
"Explain it to me then!"
"I am trying." You snapped.
The last two months had been hell.
Your whole body ached. Your mind was half clouded, and you struggled most days to remember small things and keep a straight train of thought.
Your middle had begun to expand outward to accommodate the child in your womb, who had begun to move and kick.
"After everything I have done for you." Cersei sounded close to tears with anger. "All the privilege and the help I have given, and you want to abandon me when I need you the most!"
"I never wanted to hurt you, that is the last thing I would ever want to do" you tried to soothe her. "But I have my family to think of."
"The family I gave you!" Cersei roared, "You were a low-born servant, little more than a slave when we met. Robert wanted you dead! He wanted you whipped through the streets naked and hanged for treason! But I saved you. I did that!"
"Your Grace, please." You tried to remain the voice of reason. "This is doing neither of us any good."
The slap nearly knocked your soul out of your body. It was as if you could watch yourself take the blow in slow motion.
Your face burned and your eyes watered from the pain as you began to taste the coppery tang of blood in your mouth.
"Don't you dare presume to speak to me that way, you hateful little slut!" The queen hissed.
You recovered from the blow quick enough to see Cersei's hand fly again, striking the other side of your face this time.
The Queen's royal rings caught your temple, making you cry out this time in pain.
"Out!" Cersei commanded, "I want you out! I don't want to see your ungrateful face. Go let your precious hound mount you like the bitch you are!"
You found your way back to your chambers with tears in your eyes but stumbled back with a gasp when you struck someone's chest.
"I'm sorry." you whispered and tried to move aside but a gentle grip caught you.
"Lady Clegane?"
You knew that voice.
"Lady Sansa." you breathed, keeping your back turned. "I am very sorry, my lady. I wasn't watching where I was going, please forgive me."
The hand pulled you back until you were forced to face the teen.
"Did he do this to you?" Sansa breathed, taking in the damage slashed across your face.
The gash on your temple was still bleeding and your left eye had begun to blacken.
"He?"
"The Hound."
"Oh!" you gasped, "No! Forgive me my lady but my husband would never raise a hand to me."
"Who did this?" Sansa inquired, who would be so presumptuous to put their hands on the Queen Regent's favorite?
You did not answer right away but figured if anyone would or could understand, it would be her.
"I'm sure you've discovered that Lannisters....can be hard people to serve," you explained blandly, but Sansa caught your meaning.
"The queen did this to you?"
"Don't worry about me, little bird." you forced a smile across your face, "I have a funny way of always landing on my feet. It will be okay."
"I-" Sansa thought for a moment, "Why don't you accompany me to the docks to see off Princess Marcella?"
"Oh, My Lady," you winced sympathetically, "That would not be wise. You have it hard enough here as it is, I cannot allow you to interfere in my troubles."
"I will be queen one day." Sansa cut in, "One day rather soon. And I think it would be a good idea to establish myself in court. To make friends."
You smiled genuinely this time; this little girl was much braver than she looked.
"You know, when we left Winterfell, I promised your mother I would look out for you and your sister." You glanced down sheepishly, "I fear so far I have been something of a failure. But if you will allow, I would like to give it a second go."
Sansa looked relieved and nodded, "I would like that very much, Lady Clegane. So, you will escort me to the docks?"
"It would be my honor, my lady." You nodded.
---------------------------------------------------------
"I'll kill her."
"Sandor, no."
"You're leaving." Sandor paced their chambers with long strides, an angry haze radiating off him like heat off steel. "Today, I don't care what Pycelle says. Pack only what you need, I'll send the rest."
"Darling." You grabbed him, "Darling, stop. I am fine."
"You are not fine." He reeled on you so quickly you stumbled back, "Look at you, I'm tired of this. I am tired of worrying every time she calls for you. This is not the first time, and it will not be the last."
"She's been under a lot of pressure, that is all" you insisted, "With Ser Jaime, and the Baratheons, and the princess being sent away tomorrow."
"Why are you making excused for her?"
"Because-" You trembled with frustration, "Because-"
"Because why?"
"I don't know!" You finally replied in what you didn't realize was a yell.
Sandor stared at you, a mix of frustration, anger, and even fear playing across his face.
"You need to leave now. Not tomorrow, not next month, now."
"I can't" you confessed, "I'm sorry I can't."
"What the fuck not?"
"Because" you breathed, "I swore to Catelyn Stark I would watch out for her daughters while they were in King's Landing. So far I have been a miserable failure but tomorrow I am escorting Lady Sansa to the docks and back to see off Princess Marcella."
"The fuck you are!"
"I am!"
The silence between you became thicker and thicker until Sandor broke.
"Fine." He sighed, "Fine fine fine. But I will be watching you every step of the way. One thing goes wrong and you're both going back to the castle, I don't care if I need to carry you."
"Fine" you nodded.
"But" Sandor growled, flicking open the clasps of a large, leather-strapped chest and fumbling through the contents. "You are taking this with you. I will hear no arguments on that."
He handled you the leather-wrapped handle of a 6-inch dagger. The honed edge shone in the sunlight and you swallowed hard.
"It's been a while." you confessed, "I don't know if I remember-"
"If you've used one before, you'll remember." Sandor assured you, "The body remembers."
------------------------------------------------------
The walk back to the Keep was silent between the royal family.
No one had been happy to watch Princess Marcella leave.
She was always a sweet girl, you thought, far too young to be shipped off for marriage.
As the procession made its way through the city streets, the hair on your neck pricked up.
They were being watched.
Not in the usual way the royals were gawked at, this gaze had malice behind it.
You looked back to your husband who looked over King Joffrey like a shadow. Slipping your arm into Lady Sansa's, you nudged her.
"Something is wrong," you whispered. "Can you feel it?"
"They're all watching us." Sansa nodded.
No one would ever know where exactly the first clod came from, but its pitcher had an incredible aim. It struck the king right in the temple and set off a maelstrom of chaos.
You grabbed Sansa's arm and pulled her close to your body protectively, the other arm wrapped around the growing mound of your stomach.
Sandor secured the king while the King's Guard and City Watch tried to contain the crowd.
Wild hands grasped for them, trying with all their might to drag any noble they could into the chaos.
The High Septon was one of the first to fall.
You heard the manic cries of the small folk turn to cheers as they tore the man limb from him, brandishing arms and legs like trophies and breaking apart his sacred crystal crown between them.
Your heart sank when the watch's men began to falter, and you snatched Sansa's hand tightly.
"Run." you choked.
"What?"
"Do not ask questions just run, run to the keep, and do not stop." you looked for Sandor but could not find him.
It was up to your .
Breaking into a sprint, you dragged Sansa along as the two of you made for the Red Keep. The teen huffed and panted but kept pace, running like her life depended on it.
Your steps were dogged by smallfolk baying for noble blood. Desperate for the flesh of those who lived so well while their children starved.
"Here." you jerked Sansa into an alley, "We need to lose them, keep going."
The detour threw your pursuers off for a moment, but not long enough.
Sooner than you hoped, they were back on your heels, and you cried out when you felt a hand grab a fist full of your hair.
"No!" Sansa screamed, turning only to be caught by two men who dragged her to the ground.
You were stunned at first, but when you felt a weight on your body you kicked as hard as you could.
Throwing your attacker off, you scrambled to your feet, pressing yourself against the brick wall as the attacker rounded on you.
He was a thin man with stringy blonde hair and pale blue eyes. For half a second, you thought you knew him.
But that didn't matter now, as he ran and pinned you against the wall. His hands wrapped around your throat and pressed firmly cutting off the air and making your eyes go wide.
He never said a word, only throttling you with all his strength as you tried weakly to push him off, flailing your limbs and trying to thrash out of his grip.
Your vision became soft around the edges as you fumbled, you knew what you needed.
Did you bring it?
You must have.
Where was it?
The man's grip went slack and you filled your lungs with a gasp that burned like liquor.
The man hobbled back, clutching at his chest as blood blossomed through his shirt.
Another slice cut through his side, then another sent the tip of the dagger through his eye before You turned to the two men who were holding down a thrashing Sansa who screamed louder than one might think possible.
Sansa gasped as the man that was forcing her knees apart stiffened and then fell onto her. Spurred forward by her escort's aggression, she fought even harder to turn on the man that pinned her arms and bit him fiercely as you lunged at him, dagger coated in his comrades' blood.
When the men were dead, you leaned against the wall, panting hard.
Your eyes struggled to focus but when they did, they landed on the man who attacked you.
Leaning closer, you rolled him on his back with your foot.
You did know him.
You struggled to remember.
It must have been so long ago.
"My Lady" you breathed to Sansa, who was wiping her eyes and recovering herself. "Those men, let me see their faces."
"What?"
"Just do it."
Sansa propped up both men with a look of disgust and you looked them over, hobbling forward to get a better look.
Gods
"We need to go."
"Do you know these men?"
You didn't answer. You attempted to put weight on your right leg and cried out in pain.
"We need to leave."
Sandor hadn't even realized that You and Sansa had disappeared and he hated himself for it.
Before anyone could command him to stay, He pushed through the crowd, slashing at those bold enough to try him, and looked over their heads, trying to catch a glance of his wife and her young friend.
Bulldozing his way through peasants, Sandor's breath caught when he caught sight of pink silk drenched in gore.
Sansa had you supported on her shoulder, leaning half on her and half against the wall.
Sandor wasn't sure how many people were killed to get to you, but he was sure he didn't care.
"You were supposed to go back to the keep!"
"Fuck off" was all you had the strength to say.
Sandor picked you up, trying to be careful of your swollen stomach as he sheltered Sansa under his arm and escorted you both into the keep.
When he put you down Sansa was on you in a heartbeat.
"You saved me." she wept. "You killed those men."
"I was in just as much trouble as you were, My Lady." you tried to laugh, wrapping her arms around Sansa "Couldn't very well let the rapers have their fun without a fight."
"Your Leg" Sansa remembered with a gasp.
You looked down and cringed at the sight.
You were fairly certain your ankle was not supposed to bend that way and with the adrenaline wearing off the pain began to radiate through your foot and up your leg.
"Take the little bird back to her cage." Sandor snarled at Sansa's handmaidens as he picked his wife back up. "Where the fuck are the maesters?"
You were not free to even breathe until the maester had conducted a full examination.
No damage had been done beyond some bruising around your throat and a badly broken ankle.
You nearly bit through the leather strap between your teeth when Osney Kettleblack reset the bone under Pycelle's watchful eye.
Whatever curses you might have been laying on the Kettleblack name were muffled by pain and cowhide
"Milk of the poppy twice a day for 3 months, and don't put your weight on it."
"3 months?" you scoffed, "Great, now I get to go west with a baby and a broken ankle."
"My Lady I'm afraid that after this I cannot condone traveling west." Pycelle shook his head in disapproval. "I fear you will have to finish out your term here in the keep."
You growled, wanting to swear but not wanting to disturb the dotty old Maester.
"Come on" Sandor grumbled, equally displeased. "Don't get used to being carried like this."
When the pair returned to the tower, you both had fallen silent.
You were exhausted, but you could not take your mind off those men. Those faces.
You called for a bath to be drawn so you could scrub off the filth of the city.
Sandor was brooding. More than usual. He was reluctant to be more than a few feet from you and hovered as you bathed.
"Sandor? You're thinking very loudly."
"I-" he growled, "I should have been there. I told you I would keep you both safe and-"
"Your job is to keep the King alive." You cut in, "And you did that. "
The silence was overwhelming.
"I killed those men." you swallowed, sinking deeper into the water. "I didn't even think about it, I moved and next thing I knew they were dead and I had killed them."
Sandor nodded, "You did what you had to do. Don't linger on it."
"I-" you swallowed hard, mouth going dry, "I think I might have known them."
"What?"
"I knew them," you repeated, clearer this time. "From before."
"How?"
"I don't know." you sniffed, "But I did, I knew their faces. And now I can't stop thinking about them. And I shouldn't because they would have killed us both, I know that. But-"
Sandor's hand found your shoulder, gripping it tightly.
"Don't" he urged, "Don't do that to yourself. You saved yourself and you saved that girl. Now you're going to rest, you going to heal and have our baby, and then you're going west, and you will be safe. That is all you need to be thinking about."
You looked back at your husband, eyes searching his face before nodding.
"I'll try."

Born To Be Yours | Part Xl
Sansa Stark x Fem! Baratheon! Reader (Daenerys Targaryen x Fem! Baratheon! Reader eventually)
Season 1-8
Word Count: 1,375
Note: Hey guys!! It’s been a year since I started this series and I was really excited to continue, I really was. But months flew by and my life began to take a different course, now, I can’t make promises that I’ll be uploading soon again, though I will try if I have time to spare and my imagination cooperates :) Hope you enjoy this chapter! And thank you all for your patience, it’ll be rewarded!
Pt.1 Pt.2 Pt.3 Pt.4 Pt.5 Pt.6 Pt.7 Pt.8 Pt.9 Pt.10

Months have flew by way too fast. And now you were feeling more confident around the northern lady and your family. You’d keep her from any harm they would try to inflict on her no matter the consequences, yet you were cautions cause Joffrey was still so damn annoying. Though since Margaery arrived to the capital she has been keeping him rather distracted.
“Because the truth is always either terrible or boring.”
“Am I boring?” You approached Sansa from behind, daintily kissing her cheek.
“Not at all.” She answered with a broad simper.
“You shouldn’t be too obvious in plain sight.” Shae subtly advised.
“You are right. We should be more careful.” You peered up to see if the guards were staring your way, when you confirmed they were not you stole a kiss on her silky lips. She giggled.
“Have a lovely day. I’ll meet you later. My grandfather requested my presence.” It was true... Tywin wanted to speak privately with you, and you sort of imagined why.
“I’ll be waiting for you.”
“My ladies.” You winked playfully at Sansa before walking away.
“You really like her, don’t you?” Shae asked Sansa well knowing the answer to her own question.
“She is perfect.” She let out a love sigh.
“You trust her?”
“The princess has always treated me with respect. I always dreamed with a handsome knight or a sweet prince, then I met her and she is far more better than any of that.” Sansa confessed.
“She seems to be a good girl.” Lord Baelish approached the two women.
“Lovely day for it. May I speak with lady Sansa alone for a moment?” Shae stood up and walked back to Ros.
“I saw your mother not long ago. She’s very eager to see you. And your sister.” He commented.
“Arya’s alive?”
“Oh yes. Indeed she is. But... I’ve noticed you’ve grown quite attached to princess Y/N.” He chose carefully his words.
“I have. She is and extraordinary friend.” Sansa added. “I’m very lucky to be her friend.”
“You are. I’m waiting for word on an assignment that will take me far away from the capital. When I set sail, I might be able to bring you with me. But you’d need to be ready to leave on a moment’s notice.” Sansa widen her eyes. She didn’t really want to leave now... did she? After all she knew she’ll never be truly free here.
“I... I’m not sure if that’s a wise idea, Lord Baelish.” She conflicted admitted.
“And why’s that? Other than the risks it involves of course.”
“Well, as I said before, King’s Landing is my home now. It has good things despite the corruption.” Only Y/N, she thought.
“All right then. The offer stands, my lady. Keep it in mind.” He turned around to leave Sansa wondering if she’d abandon you to return home or staying here by your side.
“You are glowing, granddaughter of mine.”
Tywin was jotting down something with a quill. “Is there a boy already?” It sounded more like a statement rather than a question. You tried not blush as Sansa’s picture coming to your mind.
“Mmm... no. There is not a... boy.” You concluded kinda nervous.
“If there is not then you should be looking for a suitable swain. I reckon you have many admirers waiting to receive your attention.” He said with a serious tone. Does he really mind? Of course he does. He wants to get a hold of another loyalty for House Lannister. “Many lords would give their whole lands to marry you. And we might need that.”
“But that’s not what I need.” You responded nonchalantly. It was true. All you truly needed and longed for was the love of someone who valued you. And you already found that in a northern lass. You knew he disapprove entirely your “reckless” choices, same as your mother. You’d fight back and won’t allow them to throw you into some random man’s arms.
You stepped inside Joffrey’s dining table. You always enjoyed to hang with the Tyrell siblings, but now that she’s engaged to your brother... you wonder how she’s been managing to handle him. After all, she’s one of the cleverest persons you know.
“Margaery does a great deal of work with the poor back in Hightgarden. I’ve heard Y/N do charity for the poor here as well.” Loras commented. You nodded. The soon to be queen smiled softly your way.
“The lowest among us are no different from the highest if you give them a chance and approach them with an open heart.” You mirrored her act.
“An open heart is what you’ll get in Flee Bottom if you’re not careful, my dear. Not long ago, we were attached by a mob there. We had a full complement of guards that didn’t stop them. The king barely escaped his life.” You hid your smirk.
“My mother’s always had a penchant for drama. Facts become less and less important to her as she grows older. Our lives were never truly in danger.” You rolled your eyes at his lies.
“Oh but they were. You didn’t even care about sending the guards to get lady Sansa back to the Keep. A king is supposed to ensure the safety of all the ones that are in need. You seem to keep failing on that, big brother.” You sensed his furious glare upon you.
“Who cares about her anyway.” You clenched your jaw tightly. Loras and Margaery keep their eyes on their dinner.
There was an awkward pause as the main course was brought to the table. The rest of the evening was all about the same. Joffrey flaunting about his “bravery” and Cersei flattering him all along. Margaery showing off a wide smile at his non sense.
~~~~~~
You strolled to your room exhausted after training with the bow and horse-riding with little Tommen. Before that you decided to pay a visit to Sansa’s chambers. You knocked the door twice and she beamed with delight.
“I hope it isn’t too late to stop by.”
“No, I was about to get under the sheets. Perhaps you can join me?” She suggested with a gaily grin. You chuckled. Seeing Sansa being so... awfully bold was so nice and pure. Being around you made her forget about the fact she’s a prisoner. It didn’t matter as much when you were together.
“I’d love that.” You entered the room, holding her by the waist and leading both of you to the bed.
“How was your day then?” You smoothly asked. She tossed to be face to face with you.
“Actually, it was wonderful! Ser Loras escorted me to the gardens with Lady Margaery and Lady Olenna. They were very kind to me. We had lunch together and chatted for a while.”
“That sounds lovely, my lady. I’ve always consider Lady Olenna as the grandmother I never had. She knows me since I was a baby. Now that they are here I’ve been reminiscing about the good old days when we wouldn’t stop joshing Loras about me beating him on a single duel. We were so young back then... I’ll always hold dear those moments. He may be moody and brash at times, still, he is complete gentleman. Water’s sometimes thicker than blood. That’s for sure.” The Tyrells were your second family, they welcomed you with open arms and never once judge you. Unlike your own blood, with exceptions of course.
“Back in Winterfell I was so focused on learning how to properly be a lady and all that, that I missed many things... I should’ve been closer to Robb, Arya, even Jon. I was mean.” Sansa’s voice cracked.
“Don’t lose faith, Sansa. I know it’s too much to ask for but life takes unexpected turns.” You brushed one of her ginger locks with your right hand.
“I found a new home.” She whispered lightly. “Not Kings Landing. Not this castle. You.” She unhurriedly closed her crystal eyes. Your heart was at her mercy, that was a fact. You caressed gently her cheek and sealed the night with the most tender kiss anyone could dream of.
“You are my home too, my love.” You breathed against her lips.
Pairing: Robb Stark x fem!reader Warning: period typical misogyny, angst, fluff, talk of death of child
Tumblr media
You were shielded away all your life. Always kept behind the wall of the Red Keep. As a child you ran around the gardens exploring it. You could remember you were never bored. But now you grew up. You nearly read all the books available to you. You knew every corner of the palace and garden. Often you tried to escape from the walls of the castle but were stopped by your uncle or Sir Clegane. The later gave you the creeps.
When the news came that you would travel to the North you were ecstatic. Your mother scolded you to calm down. But you couldn’t. Your excitement was crushed when your mother told you that your dear lord father was to marry you to the highest bidder. With this in mind your mood changed drastically. Your cheery mood became sombre.
The day you dreaded the most came and you travelled up into the North. You sat in the carriage with your mother and younger siblings. Joffrey was a prick as always. He tormented you calling you all sort of names. Your mother ignored you both, too focused on her wine.
Often you would ask your uncle Jamie if you could ride on the horse with him. He only smiled and told you it’s not suited for a lady. You nodded and slumped back into your seat.
At the same time Robb trained with his friend Theon and half-brother Jon in the courtyard. He was especially aggressive which wasn’t unnoticed by his companions. As Robb landed yet another hard blow to Jon’s sword the black-haired boy stumbled back. He threw up his arms, still holding his sword, “What is wrong with you today?” The young wolf huffed, a dark look on his face, “Father told me something he kept from me my whole life. Something I should have had the knowledge about. Not only is the king coming what you all know. But also his family. More important, my betrothed. The princess Y/N.”
Both males began to smirk. Theon came over to his friend and clapped him on the shoulder, “Well no more visits to the brothel, my friend. You are as good as a married man.”
Jon shook his head, “So you are to marry the oldest daughter of the king while Sansa is to become the Queen of Westeros?” Robb nodded. Jon took his brothers sword and shook him out of his thoughts, “Let’s get cleaned up, or lady Caitlyn will have our heads.” Robb grinned at the imagine of his mother scolding them as if they were children.
The next morning the whole court of Winterfell was in uproar. The King and his family where sighted not far from here. Maids were running around. The stable boys cleaned the stables a third time. Robb walked into the Great Hall and was greeted by his mother ordering people around. He stepped next to her and kissed her cheek, “Good morning, mother. I see you are doing the last preparations for tonight’s feast.” Caitlyn sighted, “Everything has to be perfect. We don’t want to make a bad expression. Specifically for your bride. She has to know she is welcomed hear in this court.”
The young wolf nodded. “Mother, why does no one know about her and why did father only tell me today about our betrothal?” His mother looked at him with loving eyes, “She was kept hidden for the reason that she wouldn’t become a pawn in a cruel play. It was always intended that if House Stark and House Baratheon had male and female offspring around the same age they were to be married. After the crown prince, your betrothed twin, died tragically the king decided to keep her a secret. Telling everyone she died with her brother. She would have been a target for a lot of houses if she was the oldest daughter and the only heir. Thank the gods for prince Joffrey. Now change into your festive garb and tell your father’s bastard to stay away.” Robb nodded before leaving to do as he was asked.
The carriage came to a stop. You sighted and looked out. People were standing there waiting for you to exit your carriage. As the door opened you wanted to stand up before being pushed back by the little brat of your brother. “Future king before anyone else.” You only rolled your eyes.
All eyes were on you as you entered the yard. Whispers could be heard. You felt uncomfortable as every gaze was on you. Your fathers boisterous laugh brought you out of your paranoia. He waved you over, “And this is my beautiful daughter, Y/N. She is my most prized possession.” You looked at lord Stark and smiled shyly before fixing your gaze downwards to your feet. Your father went on to inspect Winterfell with lord Stark.
A woman in your mothers age stepped forward and bowed before you, “My name is lady Caitlyn Stark. And these are my children.” She introduced them to you one by one before pointing to a man with auburn locks. He had a soft smile on his lips and kind blue eyes, “And this is my eldest, Robb. Your betrothed.” Your eyes went back to the ground. Your cheeks became warm. There was an unusual feeling in the pit of your stomach.
After your father declared that he wanted to feast, lord Stark moved you and your family to his great hall were the feast was prepared. You were seated next to Robb. No conversation flew between the pair of you. But no one really cared.
Robb had enough of the silence. He wanted to know you before he married you. “What do you do over the day, my lady?” Your shocked eyes met his curious once. You could get lost in those you thought. You snapped out of your trance and told him about yourself. He smiled at you and laughed when you told something funny. “Now I have spoken a lot about myself, what my septa would chide me for. For it’s not proper.” Robb smiled warmly down at you, “I do not share this few with her. I want to know the person I will be married by tomorrow. I asked you to do so. Do not hold yourself back.”
He then told you about himself and what he would do in his free time. You felt the freedom from his stories. Your eyes lost their shine, stopping Robb from talking. “Everything alight?” You smiled sadly, “Maybe I am finally free after I married you, lord. But you have to show me what freedom is, for I have forgotten all about it.” Robb smiled sadly at you. He took your hand in his big one and softly kissed the back of it. “I will help you with your path. Your burden is now my burden too. My freedom shall be your freedom.”
the red wolf
chapter two: a stolen gift
oberyn martell x fem!reader
warnings: mentions of death, a smooch™
words: 3.6K
excerpt: A few tears slipped down your cheeks, despite your best efforts. Oberyn gently swiped them away, bringing his forehead to rest against yours. You could feel his warm breath against your face, and it was pleasant, and smelled of the fruit filled Dornish wine he loved. His lips were tinted from it as well.
“Is there anything I can do, little wolf? I hate to see you this way,” he whispered to you, even though you were alone and shielded by so much greenery.
“Let me give you something,” your voice shook as you matched his whispered tone. “Before he can take it from me.”
a/n: the second chapter is here!! im having such a good time writing this tbh; this chapter is based on the first half of the season 4 episode the lion and the rose; im tackling it in two chapters since its a doozy
The fresh air gently blew across your face as it cascaded over the top of the walls of Winterfell. You leaned on the wooden railing, smiling as you watched your brothers play below. They held wooden swords, clashing them against each other clumsily. Ser Rodrik would surely chastise them for the sloppy footwork, but you enjoyed their dramatics.
Creaking of the boards alerted you to a new presence approaching. Robb smiled gently as he came to stand beside you. He wore a fur robe draped across his shoulders, and you marvelled at just how broad it made him appear. You turned to face him, smoothing the stray furs into line.
“When did you turn into a man?” You teased. He brought a hand up and lightly pinched the skin of your cheek.
“Around the same time my twin sister became a woman.”
You swatted his hand away, but laughed. His eyes held a softness as he turned them away to watch Bran and Rickon, who now wrestled amongst the haybed. You reached for his hand, squeezing it.
“Something’s troubling you.” He didn’t bother to deny it; you had studied your twin’s face from the day you had both been born, after all. “Are you not excited to see the King?”
“I am, but …” He shook his head. “I cannot say I am thrilled with the prospect of my sisters departing at once for King’s Landing. Or my twin sister marrying a man there.”
“Robb,” you sighed. “We can’t stay children forever. Someday, this—” you gestured at large to the courtyard, “—will be yours to lead, along with the entire North. I will be your ears wherever I land — King’s Landing, or otherwise.”
He nodded, but still didn’t meet your eyes again, You pulled him forward by his hand, wrapping your arms around the soft fur on his shoulders. You rested your head on the plush surface, as he wrapped his arms around you in response, both of you leaning into the familiar embrace.
“I will come to see you often, this I promise. My heart will always be with you, in the North.”
Your hand was sweating as you laid it on the ornate handle of the large door of Lord Tywin’s office. It was silent inside and you prayed to the Old Gods he was out, having forgotten your appointment entirely. But he had requested it of you specifically via a handwritten parchment, so you knew that you would not be so lucky.
With a large breath in, you pushed the handle down. The door seemed to scream at you as it swung open; stay out, don’t come in here, run for your life from this wretched place all together.
As you suspected, Tywin was inside, head hung low over a parchment he was rapidly writing on, spread over his desk. He didn’t look up as you entered, though he must have heard you.
You slowly closed the door behind you, fighting the urge to flinch as it slammed back into place.
“Come here, girl.” Still, Tywin didn’t look up as he called out to you. Your hand clenched at your side at the name, but you quickly forced it to relax, taking short steps towards his desk. When you reached it, you stood in front of it awkwardly, waiting.
With a large flourish of the quill, he finally set down the writing implement, casting his eyes up towards you. He leaned back in his chair, assessing you. For what, you weren’t sure.
“Lady Stark,” he mused. “With the untimely death of all three of your brothers…you are now the true heir to Winterfell and the North.”
You swallowed thickly, pushing the unbidden images of Bran and Rickon from your mind, their young, innocent faces threatening to fester there. “My lord, I was of the understanding that the Boltons had been granted control of Winterfell and the North.” In exchange for the betrayal and murder of my twin brother, his unborn child, and my mother. You let the ending hang in the air between you.
Tywin tapped the side of his face, his eyes calculating. “Yes, it is true as Hand of the King, I have named Roose Bolton as Warden of the North. But we both know who the people of the North will rally to, if they are called. And that will always be a Stark, as long as one lives.”
You clasped your hands in front you, pushing them into the fabric of your dress, trying to dampen the sweat that collected on them. “My lord … I apologize, but I’m afraid I do not understand.”
He rose now, smoothing down the front of his tunic. Stepping around the desk, he approached you. Slowly, he took your chin in his hand, turning your head to varying angles.
“You are a virgin, yes?”
A chill ran its way up your spine. You nodded.
“Good.” He released your face, turning his back to you as he faced the windows overlooking the city, hands clasped behind his back. “Were you my daughter, I would’ve had you married long ago, but I suppose Ned Stark’s inadequacies are my opportunities. You will be wed to my eldest son, Jaime, once I convince him to quit this Kingsguard business. You will bear him sons, and they will be the heirs to both Winterfell and Casterly Rock.”
Your hands shook in front of you and you clasped them tighter together. When you didn’t say anything in response, Tywin turned his head to look back at you.
“You would do well to interact with him during these upcoming festivities for the King’s wedding. Now go.”
As if you’d be sprung free from a trap, you hurried to the door, eager to be free of this room, which felt like it had hardly enough air in it to breathe. You grasped the handle again when Tywin spoke one last time.
“And girl—” You froze, gripping the handle, breath caught in your throat, and the sudden anxiety gripped you that he would tell you to stay away from Oberyn Martell. But all he said was, “—shut the door behind you.”
You didn’t think you could stay away from Oberyn, even if Tywin had asked. It had quickly become a routine, him waiting across the path from the building which held your chambers. You clung ferociously onto the small shred of something predictable in the sea of chaos that this city had washed upon you.
As you tied your bodice behind you hastily, you craned your neck to look over at Sansa, where she was still nestled in the blankets behind you. Her side rose and fell softly in the rhythm of sleep. Padding over, you knelt down, pressing a light kiss against the crown of her head. She rustled momentarily among the sheets, but didn’t wake.
Oberyn was standing in the usual area, arm extended overhead to pry some fruit off a nearby tree. With a small grunt, he freed one that was round and reddish in colour — you were still so unfamiliar with the fruits that grew this far south.
Flashing you his enticing smile, he extended it out to you. You took it with gratitude, allowing him to loop your opposite arm through his. He was warm, the warmth of his skin radiating out as if he’d trapped the air of Dorne within his very body and brought it with him to King’s Landing.
He paraded you superficially through the garden paths lined with Lannister and Baratheon guards, their eyes smoothly looking over the pair of you, some giving small nods in greeting, used to the timely walks you took.
You took a turn down a hedge lined path, the green walls rising high above your heads, and the guard stationed near the next turn leaning back, his view obscured. Oberyn placed his hand gently at your back, pulling the branches back around the gap in the hedge you had found some days prior. You both slipped underneath.
The other side contained an obviously neglected portion of the gardens, some weeds overgrown and flowing out of their beds. Wildflowers had begun to bloom as well, their colours mismatched and vibrant, contrasting to those in the rest of the gardens that were tended to regularly. You much preferred these ones.
You sat on the nearby bench, tucking your skirts in around your legs, allowing the weight of the pretense of happiness to slip off, your shoulders relaxing. Oberyn sat beside you, his knee touching yours, heat radiating from the spot. You turned the still uneaten fruit over in your hands.
“You look far away today, little wolf,” he murmured. “Is it the King’s wedding?” He lightly brushed a lock of hair over your shoulder, fingers remaining to play with it.
“No,” you sighed. “Well, yes and no, I—” You paused, meeting his dark eyes. He stared back into you, waiting patiently. You wanted to lose yourself in his eyes, to dive in so deeply you could not see anything beyond them. “I spoke with Tywin Lannister.”
Something flashed in those eyes, briefly, but unmistakably. Still, he didn’t push you for any detail. He brought his hand down from your hair, settling it on your shoulder, thumb rubbing back and forth. It sat on the edge of your gown, and occasionally his skin came into contact with the skin near your neck. You suppressed a shudder at the feeling.
You finally broke eye contact with Oberyn, unable to look at him for the next words. “He intends for me to wed Jaime Lannister. As soon as he can convince him to leave the Kingsguard. Perhaps he will even overturn their oaths, so that Jaime can marry regardless …” You trailed off, shaking your head.
“What would you want? If you had the choice?” His eyes were warm when you looked back up, his brow furrowed. His free hand clenched where it sat in his lap.
“I don’t know, honestly, I … I thought I would be able to make these choices with my Father, but now—” You bit down on your lip harshly as a sob threatened to work its way up and out of your throat. Oberyn’s hands quickly came to cup your face, holding it steadily as you took deep breaths. “The Lannisters … have taken my home, my family. I don’t want to give them my future as well … there are so many things I don’t want Jaime Lannister to have.”
A few tears slipped down your cheeks, despite your best efforts. Oberyn gently swiped them away, bringing his forehead to rest against yours. You could feel his warm breath against your face, and it was pleasant, and smelled of the fruit filled Dornish wine he loved. His lips were tinted from it as well.
“Is there anything I can do, little wolf? I hate to see you this way,” he whispered to you, even though you were alone and shielded by so much greenery.
“Let me give you something,” your voice shook as you matched his whispered tone. “Before he can take it from me.” When your hands slid up to the back of his neck, you knew the implication was clear.
He swallowed thickly. “I do not want to take advantage of you when you are upset, little wolf.”
“Please.”
It was both a second and an eternity before he brought his lips to yours. Your heart pounded in your chest as his hands tightened on your face, guiding your head as your lips slid against one another.
After the first few presses, he stopped, though he didn’t pull back, your breath intermingling in the miniscule space between you. Your eyes were screwed shut, but you raked your hands up, into his hair. He gave a breathless laugh before crashing back into you, lips pressing insistently now, the taste of his sweet wine permeating into your mouth.
Firmly but gently, his lips pried yours open, hot breath pouring into your mouth, filling your lungs. You felt yourself begin to shake with the intimacy of it. It felt as if he were providing you a new sense of life itself, with every touch, every breath, every sound he made. You had no idea how long it had been.
He swiped his tongue, wet and hot, over your lower lip, before taking it between his teeth, pulling it with him as he finally retreated from you.
With a heavy sigh, he reached an arm around your waist, resting his cheek against yours, and you lamented that you couldn’t see his eyes. You couldn’t even imagine the storms within them now.
You breathed heavily against his cheek, winded as though you’d been practicing your riding. You pressed him tighter against you, turning to plant a kiss onto the edge of his beard. His free hand twisted up into your hair.
“Thank you.”
Your hands drifted through the copper strands of Sansa’s hair, twisting the locks delicately around each other, as your mother had taught you. You smiled as you recalled how Sansa used to sit for hours, just letting you practice braiding in her hair, happy to receive attention and affections.
By the Gods, she had changed.
You pushed the thought aside as your hands left her, and you leaned over to peck her cheek, which had been dusted with rouge. “You look beautiful.”
Sansa wouldn’t meet your eyes in the mirror, staring at her own hands curled in her lap. You laid your hands on her shoulders, squeezing lightly.
“Sansa … this is a day to celebrate. Because you are not the one marrying him.” She looked up to meet your gaze, her eyes brimming with conflicted emotions.
“But they made me marry his uncle. A man decades my senior, an imp, I …” She shook her head. “He hasn’t hurt me, but that doesn’t mean he won’t. Joffrey had to have gotten his sense of cruelty from somewhere.”
Your hands tightened where they held her. “I will never let him touch you. Or anyone, Sansa. I mean that.”
She stood, shaking off your grip. She was taller than you now, all long lines and elegant neck and the deep, irreconcilable sadness of her eyes.
You wondered if she saw that in yours, too.
“And what if you’re not there?”
You wanted to tell her that you always would be, that no force of man or the Gods could take you from her. But the words caught in your throat. The words your mother and father had told you, as well. Words that had proven not to be true, in the end.
A knock on the door from Shae saved you from the moment. She escorted you out into the bright southern morning. Everyone you passed seemed to have an extra bounce in their step, an extra swing to their arms, extra wide smiles on their faces. Apparently it didn’t matter how awful the King was, if there was still a wedding to throw.
You had to admit the attitude was infectious. And a well needed relief, after the months you had spent waking in terror, your dreams filled with your sister being married to King Joffrey, irreversibly tied to him by the laws of Gods and men.
The King’s breakfast was being held in the gardens, in full bloom now and having been prepared for weeks for this event. A long table sat as the clear focal piece of the area; Tywin, Cersei, and Cersei’s young son Tommen sat there already. Cersei and her father were discussing something in a low voice, despite the loud levels of ambient noise.
A chill shot down your spine as Tywin’s sharp eyes fell upon you, and you looked away quickly.
“This way, my lady,” Shae urged Sansa towards the direction of the King’s table, and you gave her hand a reassuring squeeze as she left your side.
It was clear the breakfast would not be starting until the King arrived, so you wandered the elaborately decorated area.
Everything seemed to drip in gold, the sheer grandeur of it all overwhelming to your eyes. Tables were laden with every type of fruit and cheese you’d seen since arriving in King’s Landing, and some you hadn’t seen. You spotted one of the red, sweet fruits that Oberyn had picked for you the other day.
“Lady Stark.” Jaime Lannister approached where you stood, hands awkwardly clasping behind his back. You’d heard the rumours from the maids that he’d returned from captivity with one less hand. You hoped Robb had been the one to take it.
“My lord,” you greeted, giving a shallow curtsy. You weren’t exactly sure what the appropriate address was for a man who was not your betrothed but likely would be once he bent to his father’s will.
“Are you enjoying the … uh …” He swallowed. He gestured with one hand — a flesh one — to the surroundings. “... festivities?”
You nodded. “Yes, it’s all very beautiful. You must be very happy to be here to see the King marry.” You knew the words came out somewhat clipped, tense, but you could do little to smooth them.
“I— well yes, it’s been…” He trailed off, clearing his throat. His eyes shifted around the area, seeming like they didn’t want to settle on you where you stood. “I … I know this is no consolation, but I admired your mother. She was a strong woman. A strong mother.”
Swallowing thickly, you cast your eyes down to the table, hand clenching at your side, eyes burning suddenly with the weight of his words.
He started to flounder, obviously putting together that this was not the right thing to say, but before he could sputter himself into a frenzy, a warm hand slid over the small of your back.
“Lady Stark, I was in search of your company.” Oberyn was there, his hand a steady weight against you, reassuring. “If you will excuse me, Ser Jaime.” He flashed a dashing smile at Jaime, who nodded eagerly for relief.
“Thank you,” you sighed, as he led you away from the buffet table. He stopped you once you’d reached a round dining table, which you assumed he’d been seated at. Turning you slightly, he placed a hand to your cheek, looking at you intently. Heat rose to your face as you wondered who was watching.
“Was he bothering you?” he asked, his voice impossibly low.
You shook your head, eyes unable to tear away from his. “No, no, he was just … no.”
For a moment you both stood there, unable to move, until a serving aide passed close by, snapping the tension like a matchstick. Oberyn’s hand left you, pulling out a chair for you. He sat beside you, posture relaxed as he poured goblets of wine, the sweet aroma wafting from the cups. He placed one in front of you, noticing your brief hesitation.
“Do you drink wine?” He smirked, watching as you held it beneath your nose.
“I have tried it, but …” You eyed the contents. It was dark in colour, so rich you couldn’t see through the liquid to the bottom of the cup. “At feasts in Winterfell. I always thought it tasted vile.”
He laughed at that, his head thrown back, and you admired the column of his neck, the golden skin, the muscles you could see move beneath the skin, the smattering of stubble that came down from his beard. You wanted to run your lips up it.
“Try it,” he insisted, bringing his own goblet to his lips. “They do not know how to make wine in the North. A Dornish wine will change your life.”
You smiled at him over your cup, raising it to taste the drink. Sweetness bloomed on your tongue, filling your mouth with tastes of fruits you’d had and fruits you never could have imagined. Heat seemed to follow its trail down your throat.
“Do you like it?” He smiled at you. His hand casually reached up, trailing up and down your arm.
“Oberyn …” You eyed his hand wearily. You couldn’t bring yourself to push it away, but you knew it was too bold of him to touch you so knowingly in the open. At the King’s wedding breakfast, no less.
He was interrupted in whatever he was going to say by the arrival of the King, who settled at the head table, where Tyrion had joined Sansa. A line of lords, ladies, and nobles brought forth gifts of all kinds. Oberyn rested his arm on the back of your chair. A goblet from Mace Tyrell, graciously accepted. A book from Tyrion, which Joffrey scoffed at.
You could feel the tension roll off of Oberyn in waves as the Mountain approached the table. You placed a hand on his thigh underneath the table, where no one could see, squeezing there. He carried a sword, which he placed on the head table. Tywin stood.
“One of only two Valyrian steel swords in the capital, your Grace, freshly forged in your honour.”
Valyrian steel. Freshly forged.
The words were ringing in your head as Joffrey excitedly unsheathed the sword, swinging it wildly.
“Such a great sword should have a name. What should I call her?”
Calls came out from the crowd around you.
“Stormbringer!”
“Terminus!”
“Widow’s Wail!”
“Wolfsbane!”
Your breathing was heavy.
Joffrey smirked. “Widow’s Wail. I like that. Every time I use it, it’ll be cutting off Ned Stark’s head all over again.”
You shut your eyes, hand unintentionally grasping tighter onto Oberyn’s leg. He gently pried your fingers off, and you turned to apologize, but he just flipped your hand over, intertwining your fingers, hidden under the table covering.
And as you looked at him, you thought you could see that same irreconcilable sadness in his eyes, too.
Conflicted
Based on this request:  Can I request a Baratheon!readerx jon snow where the reader is the youngest sister of the Baratheon brothers and she goes with Stannis North and that’s how she met Jon. Fast forward to S8 time and Jon tells her he’s a Targaryen and she feels conflicted because all her life she’d been raised that Targaryens are evil but she still loves him? Thanks!!
Here you are, lovely! *Characters are NOT mine!*
Warnings: past prejudices against Targaryens. Angst? Fluff! It’s a little short
Pairings/Characters: Jon Snow x fem!Baratheon reader
Tumblr media
War had a strange way of bringing people together. That was certainly what happened with you. It was during the War of the Five Kings that you met Jon Snow. He was merely the Lord Commander's steward when you met. Your brother had fought Wildlings just North of The Wall and took the credit for capturing Mance Rayder.
         When Jon let loose the arrow that killed Mance Rayder, you saw the kind of man he was. He was an honorable man. Not the kind of man who would allow someone to suffer unjustly, unlike your brother Robert. And he was kind to you. You shouldn't have been at the Wall, but they had made an exception for you and the Red Woman. Jon made it his mission to keep you protected while you were there. Over your time there, you fell in love with him. And when you left, you took your memories with you. You never thought you'd see the dark-haired young man again.
         You had been wrong. Here you were in Winterfell, staring at Jon like you'd seen a ghost. "A-Are you certain?" Jon frowned a little and nodded. "Yes. I'm not a bastard. I'm a Targaryen. The son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. Bran has seen it and Sam confirmed it." The words hit you like a brick. A Targaryen. Jon, your beloved Jon, was a Targaryen.
         All your life, you'd been told that Targaryen's were vile, wicked people who wed their own siblings and cousins in order to keep the family pure. You had been raised to believe they were savages that would kill you as soon as look at you. Did Jon have some of that in him? Could he be the evil your brothers had always told you Targaryens were?
         "I see. I just remembered I told Sansa I would assist her with something.  Excuse me." You could feel Jon's eyes on your back as you walked out of the room. Your mind was racing. There was a part of you that knew you were being silly. This was Jon! Not some random person you didn't know. Jon. Still, your brothers' warnings bounced around your head.
         "Y/N, wait," you heard Jon just before he gently grabbed your wrist. You stopped moving. "This changes nothing between us, Y/N. I'm still me." You let yourself look at him. The look in his eyes nearly broke your heart. He looked like a single word from you could break him into a million pieces.
         "Please…" You nodded, allowing him to slowly lead you back into the room and close the door. For what felt like an eternity, neither of you spoke. You didn't mind. It gave you time to think. How likely was it that Jon would turn mad the way his ancestor had? After all, maybe there were stronger things than blood. And yet, blood was strong.
         If you were to take Daenerys as an example. She kept a face of calm and generosity yet you could see the madness boiling within her. You were certain that you could be the same if pushed the way she had been though. The Baratheon temper was volatile too. But you hadn't been raised the same way your brothers had. You weren't like them. Jon wasn't raised by Targaryens, but by Ned Stark. That made the difference. He was still Jon, no matter his blood.
         "Are you afraid of me?" Jon finally asked. You faced him and gave him a small smile. Taking his hands in yours, you shook your head. How could you possibly be afraid of him? You loved him. "I'm not afraid of you, Jon. I've never been afraid of you. Yes, Stannis and Robert thought Targaryens were evil. They taught me that. But I know you. You are nothing like what they told me just as I am nothing like the others in my family. We're our own people."
         Jon gently squeezed your hands. "Thank you. D-Do you still love me?" You laughed lightly as you stepped closer. "I have loved you for so long, Jon, that I cannot remember a time when I didn't love you. And I will continue to love you as long as you will let me." Jon let go of your hands in favor of wrapping his arms around you. He leaned in and rested his forehead on yours. You let your arms travel around his neck so you could card your fingers through the dark curls.
         "Does she know?" you asked after a little while, "Daenerys, I mean." Jon shook his head. "No and I don't want to tell her until I have to. I also don't want to talk about her right now. Right now, I want to stay here with you and forget everything."
         "I want that too. Let's go to my chambers. I want you to hold me. To love me. Kiss me. Make the rest of the world disappear for just a little while. Let it be just the two of us, Jon Snow." Jon smiled at you. "I never thought the name of a bastard would sound so appealing until I heard it from you." You kissed him. "To me, no matter what, you will always be Jon Snow, King in the North and the love of my life."
         Jon crushed you against him and brought his lips down to yours. You spent the rest of the day in your chambers, wrapped in each other's arms and dreaming of the future you hoped to have together. No longer were you conflicted. You loved Jon and he loved you. The rest of the world and your family names be damned.
(a/n: I hope you liked it! I struggled, I won’t lie)
Stark Girl ~ Podrick Payne
Requested: yes / by @wikii555
Warnings: Mentions of death, spoilers for season 1 and the red wedding
Word Count:1968
Pairing: Podrick Payne x fem!stark!reader
Summary: After escaping from King’s Landing, reader is left on her own, trying to find her family again. While traveling the King’s Road, she meets Brienne of Tarth and her squire, Podrick Payne, and learns of the vow Brienne swore to her mother, Lady Catelyn. Reader is more than willing to join Brienne and Podrick as they travel to find the other Stark girls. She wasn’t counting on being drawn to the young squire though.
A/N: I really need to stop giving time frames for when things are going to be published. I am so sorry that this is later than I said it was going to be. I hope you enjoy it though.
Things had not been easy for you since your escape from King’s Landing. After Joffrey had chopped off your father’s head, you fell further into the crowd, trying to stay out of view of any soldiers or guards. You remember catching sight of Arya and following her out of the city. Unfortunately, you had lost your little sister and you were left alone. After searching for her and coming up empty, you thought about returning to the Red Keep to be with Sansa, but you had ultimately decided to try to find your brother, knowing that Sansa’s best hope was Robb. That’s what you had continued to tell yourself as you traveled along the King’s Road until one night when you overheard some men in a tavern. The Freys had betrayed your brother and now he and your mother were gone. That was the first night since your father had died that you let yourself cry. You cried for your brother, for your mother and your sisters, but you cried for yourself too because now you had no idea what you were going to do. Things were difficult enough as it was, but now you had no goal in mind and no one who could help you.
 That’s how you found yourself curled up in the corner of a tavern, trying to get warm by the fire while also trying to stay hidden. You weren’t sure how long you had been on your own or even how long it’s been since you learned of your mother and brother’s deaths. The whispers of the Red Wedding had died down though and they were replaced with new whispers. Whispers about Joffrey Baratheon being poisoned at his own wedding. Whispers about how his uncle had killed him and about how your sister had been involved with his murder. You weren’t sure what to believe, but you hoped that the whispers of her escape were true. You knew that you should search for her. You didn’t know where to begin, but you knew that you needed to find her, so you grabbed what little you had been able to gather during your travels and set out. Sansa would probably be looking for home if she was in control of her route, so you decided to head North.
 Your journey brought you to another tavern, this one not too crowded, and you told yourself that you would stop for an hour at the most, just to rest your legs. You felt as if you had made very little progress in your journey to find your sister and it was beginning to frustrate you. You didn’t even know if you were heading in the right direction or if this was all for nothing. You slumped into your chair and fell forward, letting your head rest on the wooden table in front of you.
 “Yes, what can I get for you?” You lifted your head, ready to ask the barmaid for water, but you realized that she was addressing the people at the table next to yours. You watched what was probably the largest woman you’ve ever seen, and a young man ask for ale. Once the barmaid had left them, they leaned in to whisper quietly to each other. You moved closer, wondering what was so secretive that they felt the need to whisper, and strained your ears to hear them. You caught a few words, but the ones that stood out to you were Sansa and Lady Catelyn. You froze as your eyes widened, your mind running into overdrive. Why would these people be discussing your family? You looked closer at their faces, trying to see if you recognized them, but you had never seen them before.
 The woman leaned back, defeat clear on her face, “What are we doing?” The man only stared at her as she continued, “Neither Sansa nor Arya wanted my help and we haven’t even found Y/N.” You sunk lower in your chair. How did she know you and your sisters? Had she seen them? Were they alive? Your attention snapped back to her as she sighed, “Perhaps Lady Catelyn should have never put her trust in me to protect her daughters.” You couldn’t stand to hear anymore. This woman knew your mother and was supposed to be protecting you, though you had never seen her before. The chair you sat in squeaked as you pushed it back and got to your feet. You knew that what you were about to do was very risky, but you didn’t know how much longer you would make it on your own and if they were sent to kill you then so be it.
 You stepped over to their table, “Excuse me.” They looked up at you and you took the chance to study them further. The woman looked tired and you could see the wariness in her eyes undoubtedly caused by your sudden appearance. The young man looked at you curiously and when your eyes met you found it difficult to pull your attention away. The air was getting thicker and you quickly cleared your throat, turning back to the woman, “May I ask your name?” The two exchanged a look before turning back to you.
 The woman spoke, “Who is asking?” You gulped. It was now or never. You hoped that everything you had overheard was the truth and they were looking to help you.
 You looked around quickly, making sure no other prying ears were listening, “I am Y/N Stark.” In an instant the woman was kneeled before you, her head bowed.
 She spoke softly, “My lady, before your mother died, I was her sworn sword and I made a vow to her that I would find you and your sisters and protect you. My name is Brienne of Tarth.” She opened her mouth again and you knew she was going to recite vows, but you had no interest in hearing them. You wanted to know about your sisters.
 “You’ve seen my sisters? You’ve seen Arya and Sansa?” The woman looked up, startled and a little confused. You laid your hands on her shoulders and gently pulled her to her feet, “My sisters? You know where they are?” She nodded and told you about how she had found Arya, but lost her when the Hound tried to kill her and then how she had found Sansa with Littlefinger.
 “We’re following Sansa now.” Brienne looked down before meeting your eyes again, “We don’t believe she is safe with him.”
 You nodded, “Then I will go with you.” Brienne would have smiled if she thought it becoming of her vows, but you were just glad to have someone to help you find Sansa. “When will we be ready to leave?”
 Brienne looked to the young man behind her, “Podrick, ready the horses.” He nodded and left the tavern. Brienne turned back to you, “Shouldn’t be too long.”
 You, Brienne, and Podrick had been following Sansa and Littlefinger for almost a week now and it was becoming clear that they were heading to Winterfell. You weren’t sure why though, as last you heard the Boltons had control of your home and Littlefinger held no allegiance to them. You tightened your grip on the reins and looked down to Podrick, who was walking beside your horse. Brienne rode in front of the two of you, keeping a watchful eye out. Podrick must have felt your stare because he turned to look at you. You smiled at him and he smiled back quickly before turning away, the tips of his ears turning red. You giggled quietly to yourself. That happened almost every time you showed him any kind of attention and it never ceased to amuse you. Though you did wonder if it was because of your status as a lady of Westeros or if it was because he found you as attractive as you found him. You had hoped it was the latter, but you tried not to get too carried away in those thoughts. Though he did often stare at you. It was getting to the point where Brienne had noticed too and would scold him when she caught him. You never minded because you would stare at him too. “Podrick!” You looked forward to see that Brienne had stopped and turned to face you and her squire. She tilted her head towards him, “Ready a fire.” He nodded and went about his business, his ears burning brightly still. Brienne looked to you, “We’ll rest here for a bit, Lady Y/N.”
 You nodded, “Of course. Thank you, Lady Brienne.” She gave you a tightlipped smile and you shook your head, “Sorry…Brienne.”
 She shook her head back at you, “No need to apologize.” She looked more relaxed as she went about her duties. As you started to dismount your horse, you felt Podrick stand next to you and hold the horse still.
 When you were on the ground, you smiled at him, “Thank you, Podrick.”
 He smiled back, “Of course, my lady.”
 Brienne watched you two before clearing her throat, “I’m going to scout the area. Will you be alright here?”
 You nodded, “Of course.” You looked over at Podrick, “I have Pod here to protect me.” His whole face went red and he ducked to avoid any further attention, tending to your horse. Brienne nodded, but she didn’t say anything as she walked along the path and down into the trees. When you were sure that she wasn’t within earshot, you turned to the young man, “Do I embarrass you, Podrick?”
 He glanced at you for a moment, shaking his head, “No, my lady.”
 “Then why do you blush when we speak?”
 He gulped, “I don’t know what you mean.” You looked at him with raised eyebrows, but he refused to meet your gaze.
 “I quite like you, Podrick.”
 His head snapped up and he stared at you before speaking slowly, “I like you too, my lady.”
 “Do you?” Licking his lips, he nodded. You chose your next words carefully, “Would you want to kiss me, Podrick?” You moved closer to him and he stiffened, so you backed off a bit. He noticed your retreat, so he released some of the tension in his shoulders.
 He nodded again, “Yes, my lady.” Your breath caught in your throat and though he took a step closer to you, he shook his head, “But I shouldn’t.” He stepped back again, but you weren’t going to just drop the subject.
 “And why not?”
 Sighing, he motioned to you, “Because you’re… and,” he motioned to himself then, “I’m…” He shook his head again and went to walk away, but you laid your hand on his shoulder.
 He turned to you and you smiled, “I’m the fugitive daughter of a traitor to the crown and you are a noble squire.” You saw the tips of his ears going red again and you smiled, tilting your head to catch his eyes.
 Instead, he looked at your hand, which was still on his shoulder, “Forgive me, but you’re wrong. That’s not what you are.”
 You spoke in a whisper, “What am I then?”
 His eyes moved to your face, taking in every detail before stopping on your own eyes, “You are my lady.”
 You sighed, your eyes slipping shut for only a moment before you were staring into Pod’s brown eyes again, “And will you give your lady a kiss?” His arm moved around your waist and he hesitantly pulled you closer, staring into your eyes the entire time. He glanced at your lips quickly and you smiled at him, noticing that for the first time since you met him, his ears didn’t change color. He only smiled back before leaning down and placing his lips over your own.
Her Grace's Handmaiden Pt.17
(Sandor Clegane x Fem Reader x Cersei Lannister. TW: PREGNANCY AND MURDER)
AO3 VERSION: https://archiveofourown.org/works/48276340
No historians could ever look back on the reign of King Joffrey Baratheon and say it didn't start with a bang.
You and Sansa had been holed up for hours before Sandor arrived to free you. Sansa's face was tear-stained but you had no idea how to soothe her.
It was a frightening situation, you knew it.
Every once in a while, the door would rattle on its hinges when a body struck it, and the northern lady cried out into her hand to muffle the sobs.
You could do nothing but hold her and stay brave for you both.
Sandor's voice was like that of an angel when it was all over. The sun had set and darkness had filled the world outside the window by the time the fighting was finished.
You unjammed the door and let him in, crying out at the side of blood on his flesh.
"Relax, it's not mine"
You sighed with relief. "would you believe you're the second person to say that to me today?"
"Aye" you husband nodded, "I would actually."
"What's happened, where's my father?" Sansa demanded.
Sandor side-eyed her and you saw a flicker of pity flash behind his eyes, "I'm to bring you to the Queen, it will be easier if you come quietly."
"She will." You cut in before Sansa could say anything, calmly taking the girl's hand in your own, "You have no reason to be afraid, my dear."
Before they left, you grabbed Sandor's arm and looked at him hard.
What happened out there? Your eyes asked him.
I'll explain later. His replied
Left alone, you wondered about your next steps.
Surely the queen would be too busy to have you around. Sandor as well.
You thought a moment before deciding your best option for the moment was to simply sit on the sidelines and watch as you had in your past life.
There was a reason Varys had stationed you as a servant in the first place, and that was to watch and listen.
Redressing into a simple frock, no pattern, dull blue, You knew you would draw no attention.
The halls were shockingly empty. The sound of your footsteps seemed to echo off the marble.
Torches were lit to fill the night's darkness, and you watched as the shadows of guards passed over the walls.
 You moved in shadows, eyes peering about curiously as you took in the sites.
The city watch filled the outer chambers of the keep while the palace guards concentrated their numbers around Maegor's Holdfast.
It must be terribly late, you realized.
From here you could make out the outer balcony of the tower. Slowly you crept closer until you could look over the railing and take in a sky view of the keep below.
You could see groups of torches bouncing down corridors in unison.
You could smell the smoke from the bonfires lit in every open space available, emanating a flickering orange glow.
You could hear the sounds of screams that were quickly cut short by castle-forged steel.
"Stark's household...or what's left of it." a cool voice came from behind you. "you're out late, My Lady "
"Spent all day locked up, Lord Baelish" You smirked, turning to face him. "I thought a walk might do me good"
"A beautiful night for it." he agreed. "May I keep you company?"
You shrugged, taking the lead as you made your way down the canopied corridor.
"Sandor still hasn't told me what happened." You began. "Care to fill me in?"
"Ned Stark turned traitor" Baelish explained. "He tried to remove the queen's children from the line of succession, claiming they were bastard born"
"How terrible" Your tone didn't change. "and treasonous"
"Very, with the king's body barely cold"
You thought a wink
"Surely he did not work alone though"
"That's what we're trying to determine" the Master of Coin nodded. "we have most of his household in the dungeons, but the King has declared no quarter is to be given to suspected traitors"
You shuttered at that, knowing the ones killed instantly were the lucky ones.
"A rather ominous end to a day that started well for you, I fear."
"I can only pray it all settles right in the end." you brushed it off.
"Yes," Baelish let a small grin slip. "You've proven yourself very adept at landing on your feet. Recently it seems you've been landing even higher than you were when you fell, now that is a clever trick you must teach me someday."
"I've had remarkably good fortune." You agreed, "And I am very grateful to those who have helped me."
Baelish grabbed your elbow gently, stopping your stroll.
"We're not all that different, you and I." he asserted. "It might behoove us to enter this new reign with new friends"
You looked him up and down coolly and smiled, prying his grip off your arm.
"I have seen what becomes of your friends, Lord Baelish" you sniffed. "and while I admit I know this castle better than most, I have no desire to acquaint myself with the black cells."
"Baelish."
The voice down the hall echoed off the arched ceiling like thunder.
"That hand on my wife had better not belong to you."
Baelish's grin became sharp and bitter, his hand falling from you quickly.
"I wouldn't dream of it, Clegane" he assured the guard as he approached you, each step harrolled by the clammer of armor.
"Must have been the light then."
You smiled in the firelight. "Husband"
"You shouldn't be wandering"
"You shouldn't have left me alone" you shot back playfully before glancing at the lord next to you. "Good night to you, Lord Baelish"
"Good night" he nodded, "I expect we will see each other again soon."
.........................................
The first official day of King Joffrey's reign welcomed fair weather.
Because of this you almost resented being stuck inside.
It was strange to be wearing all black for a man you had hated. But, Joffrey had declared 1 month of full mourning for his late father for the whole court.
"You'd think he actually loved his father," you muttered and your husband shrugged.
"I don't know if love is the word I'd use."
Full mourning meant that the newly widowed Cersei could not receive guests until the month was done, at least not without raising questions.
Sandor was glad of this, though he'd never say it out loud.
Lady Sansa was kept sequestered in the tower of the hand until it could be decided what to do with her.
To your dismay, Arya Stark had not been found. The thought of the 11-year-old alone in King's Landing made your stomach turn.
"We need to find her!" you insisted one day, wrought with frustration and fear. "She's just a little girl! She must be so frightened and-"
"The City Watch is doing the best they can." Sandor tried to soothe you . "They'll find her."
"You don't understand, you don't-!" you were on the edge of sobs. Sandor was at a loss as his wife half collapsed into him, gripping at his shirt half hysterical.
"You don't understand. I've seen it, I've seen what they do to little girls like her who don't have anyone to look out for them. They need to find her before something awful happens."
By the end of the mourning period, it was finally time.
Ned Stark was to face justice for his crimes, sentenced to death by beheading.
But Sandor assured you it was the King's intention to show mercy and allow Lord Stark to take the black.
You were so glad to be out of black.
Cersei, after having cloistered herself, practically melted into her lover's arms as soon as you arrived in the royal quarters.
"You have no idea how miserable it's been trying to keep a handle on all of" she gestured proudly around her, "well this. But it's finally coming together and I'm glad of it."
Cersei's face fell, pulling away from the embrace and feeling on your waist before giving your breast a squeeze.
"Ow? Why?" you gasped, cradling your chest indignantly.
"Mother's Mercy, how far along are you?"
"What?" you scoffed, "I'm not. At least, I don't think I am. I think I would know."
"Don't be ridiculous, look at you." Cersei insisted. "how long has it been since you've bled?"
"I bled last month." you tried to remember. "It was light, but I did bleed"
"How light?" Cersei pressed, "Does Sandor know?"
"There's nothing to know!"
"Darling, please." Cersei scoffed "I had 3 children, I know what it looks like."
"I'll visit Pycelle after," You said reluctantly.
"Good" Cersei nodded, satisfied. "Now, I want you nearest me at the sept today. I love my son dearly but I could throttle him for keeping us apart"
"a trait he got from his father," you half-joked, and Cersei felt a chord snap with a jolting twang in her stomach.
If you knew the truth, she thought, you were doing an excellent job hiding it.
____________________
You looked yourself over in the mirror critically. Maybe your face was fuller. And maybe your dresses had been fitting a little tighter.
But you would have noticed, right?
"Sandor?"
"Hm."
"Do I look....bigger?"
There was a long silence.
"This feels like a trap."
"No, I mean..." you sighed, there was no getting around it.  "I'm visiting Pycelle after the thing."
Sandor paused, sitting up a little straighter.
"Really?"
"Don't say it like that," you begged.
"Why not?"
"Because I might not be." you sighed, "Or I am, and something might happen"
You didn't dare hope for the best. It would all be too much if they were mistaken.
So many things could go awry, and it felt like hope was an egg balancing on the edge of a blade.
One wrong move, one misstep, and it was over.
"Hey," a hard hand grabbed yours, squeezing it. "Breathe"
You obeyed, letting out a breath you didn't realize you were holding.
"We'll discuss it more when we know for sure." Sandor decided. "Let's just get through this morning first."
Season 1-8
Note: Sorry for the delay :(
Pt.1 Pt.2 Pt.3 Pt.4 Pt.5 Pt.6 Pt.7 Pt.8
Tumblr media
“I’m glad nothing serious happened to you or your friend.” Tyrion poured himself some wine and you accepted to drink with him.
“Me too.”
“I know you are a hero but I sense something else here... why you keep taking those risks for her?” He curiously asked.
“She has no one...” That was true, still, you were trying to keep your feelings buried.
“You love her.” You hid your blush behind the silver cup. He chuckled. “There’s nothing to be ashamed of. She seems to be a good Lady. With all that your brother has done to her having you is a blessing.”
“You... you’re okay with it?” Loving her in secret was one thing but saying it out loud to someone was a different one.
“Of course! I could never judge you. You don’t dictate your heart, you have all my support, Y/N.” He warmly smiled, you bent down to hug him. This is one of the many reasons you love your uncle so much.
“Thank you, uncle.”
“Now I fully understand why you did that yesterday. Does she know?” He walked to the balcony gesturing you to follow him.
“No. And maybe it’s all in my head.” You brushed it off. “She sees me as her very good chum who saves her from my horrendous family.”
“Or perhaps she’s just afraid to admit it. After all, you are the princess. It’s not that easy. You’ll figure it out.” He tapped your shoulder. Could Sansa really feel the same? Nothing’s impossible, you just have to give it time and be patient. But with the way she looks at you... how you find comfort in her embraces... how she gently touches your hand...
You made your way to the Stark girl’s room to check on her just to find the door wide open and a scared Sansa with the bed stained of blood, her nightgown had red stains too.
The Hound was there, you scowled. You knew he was going to tell Cersei, and that was the last thing the redhead wanted. Shae arrived shortly.
“Good morning.” You said.
“Princess.” Sandor and Shae greeted. Your gaze landed on Sansa, the tears were threatening to come out. She didn’t say anything.
“I will inform the Queen.” He stated and left. Sansa threw herself into your arms. You could feel her tensing and quivering.
“Hey hey, it’s gonna be fine. He’s not gonna touch you.” You promise her, you would do anything to keep him away from her, even if that meant being punished.
“You should take a bath before you meet her grace.” The young handmaid said.
“I’m going to wait outside until you are finished, then I’ll escort you to my mother’s chambers. Don’t worry, my lady. I got you.” You assured. Her features relaxed and you gave her a small nod.
You tried to come with excuses for your mother to not force her to carry Joffrey’s babies immediately but nothing with a valid point seemed to be compelling enough.
After she was done you headed to her big room. “How is your wound?” You added to soothe the hike.
“Better. You are a very good healer.” She shyly answered.
“One of my many gifts.” You winked to ease her nerves. The Queen Regent was already expecting her, yet she was not very surprised when you showed up behind Sansa, you let her entered first.
“My love, what are you doing here?” Cersei asked you, raising her eyebrow.
“I... thought I’d give Lady Sansa some advice, I flowered almost two years ago. I know it is grubby at first.”
“It certainly is. But her mother prepared her, didn’t she?”
“She told me. I thought... it would be different.” Sansa confessed.
“In what way?” You both took a seat.
“I thought it would be less... less messy.”
“Wait until you birth a child. You’re a woman now, do you know what that means?”
“I’m fit to bear children for the King.” Yes, your heart was breaking again.
“Is there any rush?” You intervened and Cersei faked a sympathetic smile.
“The sooner the better.” She made a flick for you to keep your mouth shut. Your jaw tensed. “A prospect that once delighted you. The greatest honor for a queen. Joffrey has always been difficult. Even his birth, I labored one day and a half to bring him into this world. You cannon imagine the pain. I screamed so loud I was sure Robert would hear me in the Kingswood.”
“His grace was not with you?”
“Robert was hunting. Whenever my time was near, he would flee to the trees with his huntsmen and his hounds. The only time he was with me was when Y/N was born. I’ll always remember how she wrapped her little hand around his finger, she smiled at him and that was the only time in my life I saw a tear fell from his cheek. It was too emotional.”
You missed him so badly, the stories he used to tell you about Westeros, the adventures he had when he was a young Lord, the thrill in his eyes when he saw you swing the sword for the first time, he taught you all about archery, about bravery. When you were feeling low because of Joffrey and your mother he would carry you in his arms and then ride far from the city in your horses. You missed those days cause in the dark moments he was your hero.
“You never told me that before.”
“You were your father’s favorite.” Then she referred to Sansa. “Joffrey will show you no such devotion. You may never love the King but you will love his children.” She told her calmly.
“I love his grace with all my heart.” Sansa lied in her usual innocent voice.
“That’s very touching to hear. Permit me to share some womanly wisdom with you on this special day. The more people you love, the weaker you are. You’ll do things for them that you know you shouldn’t do. You’ll act the fool to make them happy, to keep them safe. Love no one but your children. On that front, a mother has no choice.” Was it so hard for Cersei to love you as much as she loved your siblings? To support you and be there for you?
“But shouldn’t I love Joffrey, your grace?”
“You can try, little dove. My sweet daughter here, she will be marrying some Lord very soon. I think it’s time for you to start your own family.” The blonde abruptly added. Sansa felt her stomach twist itself into an uncomfortable knot.
“That means I will have to leave you, mother.” You complained. Cersei doesn’t want to end up alone, Jaime is a prisoner, you don’t know if you’re going to see him again. But she doesn’t want you to abandon her, deep down does she care? A question you often ask yourself.
“You grew too fast. You are my oldest daughter, any man who has your heart will be very lucky. Many of them are interested in you.” Your eyes were set only on Sansa Stark, even if you couldn’t be together.
“But I’m not interested in them.” You pointed out. Was she trying to send you away just because you were willing to keep protecting Sansa at all costs, or did she really wanted to get rid of you?
You and the northerner walked out. You let go of those thoughts. Focusing on her again you broke the silence. “There’ll be a battle soon. My uncle’s army will arrive anytime. Joffrey is going to be busy. I’m always here for you, Sansa.” You reassured once more, for her to know she’s not alone.
“I feel trapped. But when you’re around... you make everything better.” Hearing that made you feel a wave of joy. She blushed and gods, your face was the color of her hair too.
“I’m not going anywhere. I promise.” You said smiling sincerely at her. She smiled back at you.
The following days passed so very fast, now you were helping uncle Tyrion do some researching on books to find information to use for the incoming battle. The King himself apparently is occupied torturing people and animals to care for his Kingdoms. Bronn was there too, your uncle thought he’d come with some ideas for the defense of the city.
You were distracted, to say the least, your mind wandering in the redhead beauty, in how she seemed to be troubled almost all the time.
“Dear niece, I need your cleverness.” You came out of your trance.
“We are very lucky to have you as Hand of the King, uncle, otherwise we’d be doomed. And I mean it, no sarcasm. I want to join you in the field.” Tyrion wasn’t expecting to hear that statement. You knew you could be effective.
“What? Absolutely not. The last time in the riot the gods were good and you were unharmed. This is way different. I know you are brave, just like Robert was, but I would never forgive myself if something happened to you. Let alone the fact your mother won’t allow it.”
“I can take care of myself. Joffrey won’t last a moment there. Maybe I can coax him to fight along his men.”
“I wish you could. He won’t listen.”
“I’ll do it anyway.”
“So stubborn. My brain might explode before I find something helpful. ‘A History of the Great Sieges of Westeros.’ By Archmaester Shevelathin. Shevelatesh.”
“Ch’Vyalythan.” You corrected him.
“Are you sure?” You shrugged.
“My Princess. Lord Hand. Commander. I must compliment you on the Gold Cloak’s performance last few weeks. Did you know there has been a marked drop in thievery?” Lord Varys said entering the room.
“How did you accomplish this?”
“Me and the lads rounded up all the known thieves.” Bronn nonchalant replied.
“For questioning?”
“No. It’s just the unknown thieves we need to worry about now.”
“We’ve talked about this.”
“Have you ever been on a city under siege? Maybe this part is not in your books. See, it’s not the fighting that kills most people. It’s the starving. Food’s worth more than gold. The thieves love a siege. Soon as the gates are sealed they steal all of it. By the time it’s all over, they’re the richest men in town.”
“Yes, I believe extreme measures are warranted. Ah ‘The Great Sieges of Westeros.’ Thrilling subject, shame archmaester Ch’Vyalthan wasn’t a better writer.” Varys referred to the big book on the table.
“Uncle Stannis knows King’s Landing, he knows where we are the strongest and where we are the weakest. We need to be cautious. Take him down before he arrives at the gates.” Now you were focusing, strategy was essential.
“That’s it! The Mud Gate. A good ram will batter it down in minutes, and it’s only fifty yards from the water. That’s where he’ll land.” Tyrion affirmed certainly.
“If he does attack at the Mud Gate, what is our plan?” Varys curiously inquired. Tyrion looked at you, and then back at him.
“Wildfire.” He said.
After discussing the tactics you went to share some time with Sansa, she is one of the few people who gives you peace. Little Tommen was on his reading lessons. She was embroidering a red scarf with two lions on the top. Your heart warmed at the sight of it.
“Shae is not here?”
“I dismissed her an hour ago.” Then she stood up. “A present for you.”
“Why do I owe the pleasure?” You admired her flawless needlework.
“Because you always save me. You are always there for me. I don’t know how can I ever repay you.”
“You don’t have to, you know I do it cause I love you I’m your friend. But I appreciate the gift though. It is a very fine design.” She flushed, seeing her like this is very cute.
“You think... your brother is going to defeat Lord Stannis?”
“Brave men will fight. I have faith in them and in my uncle’s plan. I-I might... get involved.”
“Is this a bad joke?” She looked at you perplexed.
“I’m afraid is not.”
“Y/N, you could die! You are strong but still too young to go to war. And you are a princess.” Sansa winced. You squeezed gently her arm.
“I won’t die. I heard uncle Renly had in his Kingsguard a female warrior. And what about Visenya Targaryen? She was a fantastic skilled warrior as well. She fought alongside Aegon in his conquest, and in the First Dornish War. Also, she was a dragon rider, she bonded with the one called Vhagar. And had a Valyrian steel longsword named Dark Sister. I wish I had one.” You commented, utterly excited. Sansa didn’t really like the topic but her eyes lighted up every time you talked about something you were passionate about.
“You never cease to amaze me, you know so much about these things. I understand now why Arya and you got along so well.” And it’s true, you wished she was here, you missed the youngest Stark girl running around the castle. “But still, I don’t like the idea of you being out there. It’s too dangerous. You said you weren’t going anywhere.” She mumbled the last sentence.
“Trust me.” You held her hands on your own.
“Just be careful, please. Don’t leave me alone.”
“I will be. And I’ll never leave you.”
You were walking side by side with the King, Varys, and Tyrion on the eastern walls.
“If my uncle Stannis lands on the shores of King’s Landing, I’ll ride out to greet him.” Joffrey smugly spoke.
“A brave choice, your grace. I’m sure your men will line up behind you.” Tyrion subtly jeered.
“They say he never smiles. I’ll give him a red smile from ear to ear.” You rolled your eyes, knowing he wouldn’t stand a chance against him on his own. Lord Varys and your uncle began to converse with each other.
“Hey, Y/N. I heard you want to join us in the fight.” He said in a mocking way.
“You think I’m not capable?”
“Exactly. You are a woman. Not that I really care about what happens to you. You’ll die out there.”
“You have little faith in me, big brother. But still, I’m way better than you in almost everything.” You squinted your lips. “No! In absolutely everything. Don’t worry, I’ll pray for our victory.”
“I already know your whore friend has flowered. I’ll come to visit her right after I kill our uncle.” He hissed and you didn’t punch him right away right there cause you held back your fury. He was provoking you, you would get your knuckles bloody for Sansa if he goes too far.
“...They say he burns his enemies alive to honor the Lord of Light.” You joined the conversation between the two men.
“The Lord of Light wants his enemies burnt. The Drowned God wants them drowned. Why are all the gods such vicious cunts? Where is the god of tits and wine?” Tyrion wittily questioned.
“In the Summer Isles, they worship a fertility goddess with sixteen teats.” Varys responded.
“We should sail there immediately.” You smirked.
“Lord Varys, do you know anything new about the Targaryen girl?" Some nights you wonder, if your father hadn't won the Rebellion she would be here, this would be her home, she was exiled so she could survive, she was forced to marry a savage, her family is dead, the world is such a cruel place... and when you are a helpless girl it gets worse, what if things had turned out differently? And you were the one on the other side of the world, maybe that's one of the main reasons why you sympathized with her.
“This morning, I heard a song all the way from Qarth beyond the Red Waste. Daenerys Targaryen lives.”
“That’s a relief.” You said.
“A relief? She has three dragons. But even if what they say is true, it’ll be years before they are fully grown. And then there will be nowhere to hide.” Varys argued.
“She’s on the edge of the world, the least of our problems.” Uncle Tyrion tried to sound unconcerned.
“Three baby dragons? How is that possible?” They were extinct for almost three hundred years. How she managed to bring them back?
“Princess, do you consider it was wise to let her live? If you knew then what you do now... would you persuade his grace to give the order? She might be a threat soon enough, she will claim the throne-“
“Maybe she’s not interested in it. Not everyone is. Especially the rightful heirs. She did nothing wrong.”
“Yet.”
“I don’t regret my choice. I wouldn’t change it if I could.” You were confident, she’s innocent, one game at the time, you thought. Just because her ancestors were evil doesn’t mean she is evil too.
“You are so selfless, and good. Westeros might need a Queen like you.” Varys remarked.
“I’m no Queen, my Lord.” The throne belongs to you more than to Joffrey that was for sure, but how can you overthrow snakes that know your weaknesses and can use them to sting and hurt you the most?
Sandor Clegane x Fem!Reader
Tumblr media
Warning: Angst, Triggers, Season 8 predictions, but no spoilers
~~~~~~~~~
Everyone who knew you and Tyrion Lannister knew the two of you were inseparable. So when the smoke cleared, and he was found dead on the battlefield after defeating the Night King, no one blamed you for locking yourself away.
Winterfell had fallen, and so all of the survivors took refuge in Dragonstone after the dead and undead were burned. The stink was so vile, that the Ravens feasted on everyone’s stomach contents once they emptied them.
Tyrion was burned separately and was given a northern funeral despite his family’s southern customs. It’s not like his family had anything to say about it. The entire House Lannister was dead anyway. Half either sacrifice themselves helping defeat the Dead, or the other was killed when Daenerys stormed King’s Landing out of the grief of losing her Hand. No matter what she did, she couldn’t erase the smirk on Cersei’s face, even when she was burned alive. In the end, Cersei died laughing, knowing what happened to her brother.
You wished you were there when Daenerys killed her, otherwise her death would have been much slower and far more painful than being burned alive. You would have made sure of that.
Up in the tallest tower of Dragonstone, far away from everyone else, you hid away in your chambers, doing nothing but staring out the window, looking out onto the sea. Missandei would come in every day with food, catching you up on everything you were missing, even though you weren’t listening, let alone responded to anything she had to say.
Apparently, your sister Sansa was determined to rebuild Winterfell. She had gone back there with several men to labor themselves into putting back up the stone ruins. Along with her was Bran, Arya, what remains of the Brotherhood Without Banners, Brienne, Podrick, Tormund, and Sandor Clegane.
Jon would be staying in King’s Landing with Daenerys, for obvious reasons, along with Missandei, Grey Worm, Jorah Mormont, Varys, and a few chosen others. None of them had gone back yet as King’s Landing was in repair and being flushed out by the Unsullied of any Cersei followers. So for now, their chain of command would stay in Dragonstone, until it was safe to take the Iron Throne.
It would take months before you spoke another word again, but in between that, you had started to train to fight again. Even though there was no more fighting needed, you trained day in and day out. Eventually, you started talking again and you could have sworn Jon’s face went pale as snow when you first croaked a “Good morning, cousin,” in his direction.
Another few months would pass before Jon received word from Sansa that she required more supplies and more men to help repair Winterfell, and Jon gladly gave them to her. Upon discussing in the War Room who else would go and help the North with their thin resources, you volunteered.
“No, absolutely not,” Jon was quick with a response, “You’ve barely eaten for months, and you’ve trained and trained until you’ve passed out in the training yard. The journey to Winterfell alone would kill you, not to mention the work there needs to be done once you arrive there. For now, you are not strong enough to help.”
“I can go,” Gendry Waters, Robert Baratheon’s bastard spoke up, “I am a smith. I can help with whatever repairs they need.”
“You’re just going because Arya is there,” you muttered under your breath, in return, Gendry glared at you.
“Or maybe I’m going because you can’t.”
“Listen, Lady Y/n. Jon Snow is right. You have other duties you can attend to here,” Ser Davos explained.
“Our Queen could have you as a new advisor, or maybe even a Hand,” Jorah mentioned, and that was all it took to make you snap.
“Enough! One more man tells me I can’t go, and I’ll cut their balls off!” You screamed.
The room went dead silent, no one dared to speak up, not even Daenerys.
“You can’t go.”
You spun around, knife at the ready, until you realized, to even your astonishment, that Varys, Theon, and even Grey Worm had spoken up to you. Yara snorted, even holding her hand to her mouth to refrain from bursting out laughing all the while you growled, pointing your knife dangerously at the three men.
“That... That isn’t funny!”
You failed to sound threatening, as Varys smirked proudly and even Theon tried to twitch and smile. Grey Worm just glared the way he normally does, but it was clear he had tried to make a joke, as Missandei was staring at the ground and smiling to herself. Throughout the whole room, one by one, others started to laugh, if not smile, just a little bit. Once you noticed this, and once you noticed that Jon had begun to smile at you, you started to relax.
“I think you should go.”
To your astonishment, it was Daenerys who spoke up for you, and when you turned to look at her, she smiled with a haunting look in her eye, “I give you permission to ride off to Winterfell and help rebuild its walls.”
She didn’t say it, but you knew just by looking in her eyes that what she was really saying was that she understood your pain. She knew what it was like to lose someone you loved. And not saying no one in this room knew that feeling, but Daenerys had probably understood it the most. And besides, apart from you, she was close to Tyrion.
She knew you wanted to go back to where you lost Tyrion, and she thought that maybe, deep down, your heart might heal faster if you did.
So, along with Gendry and Ser Davos, you took another hundred men out of Dragonstone and made your long journey to Winterfell, with the instruction to send your siblings Jon’s love.
The road wasn’t easy, but once you saw the familiar outline of home even through the strong and heavy snowfall, you had begun to relax and smile a little. When the gates opened, you were welcomed by Sansa, who gave you a strong hug once you carefully swung yourself off your horse.
“Y/n! Jon didn’t tell me he was sending you!” She exclaimed as she held you close. When she pulled away to examine you, she felt her smile falter, “What... What’s happened to you?”
You didn’t answer, and you made it blatantly obvious that you didn’t want to talk about it as you changed the subject, “Jon sent a hundred more men... a hundred and two men if you count Ser Davos and--”
“Gendry!” Arya had sped past you once she caught sight of the young smith. As the bastard swung off his horse, he smiled at the sight of the young Stark girl and mocked a bow when she stood in front of him, only to laugh when she punched his shoulder and crushed him in a hug.
“Finally. Anything to get that Stark brat from bothering me.”
You turned your head back around to find Sandor Clegane standing behind Sansa now. He looked the same as before, wearing fur and sporting a long beard and hair to keep warm... or maybe to hide the scar. You have known him for as long as Sansa, since you with her when the two of you, including Arya and your father, rode to King’s Landing all those years ago.
“Hound,” you nod to Clegane, “Still alive I see. I thought Arya would have slit your throat by now.”
“She can’t. I forbade it,” Sansa responded with a warning look directed at your younger sister, who has now walked up to hug you finally.
“Wouldn’t stop her and you know it,” Sandor grumbled.
“And you may be my trusted council now, but sometimes your brutal honesty can get carried away,” Sansa shot back to which Sandor bows his head to her.
“Council? Since when does a former sell-sword and member of the Brotherhood Without Banners become the Lady of Winterfell’s council?” You raised your eyebrows.
“Since he’s the more honest person I know and the more loyal.”
“Hence the dog name, I know,” you roll your eyes and push past her, “Got any food? I’m starving.”
Sansa and Arya exchange a look after observing your behavior, all the while Sandor just grunts in response to your insult. Arya turns to Gendry, who has finally walked up to join her, “Is she alright?”
Gendry sighed, “You saw Tyrion’s body, you tell me. She hasn’t gotten any better.”
“In fact, she’s gotten worse.” Ser Davos also walked up to join the others, “She’s got quite the foul language now and has dropped any lady duties she used to take part in. She drinks most of the wine supply dry back in Dragonstone so I’d watch your wine cellar if I were you.”
Sansa sighed while wearing a thoughtful look in her eye when watching you leave, looking up at sharing a knowing look with Sandor, “Let’s get inside and treat our guests to some supper.”
Once inside, it appears you acting like you were hungry was a ruse to keep Sansa busy. Once the food was placed in front of you, you only pushed it around and pretended to take bites out of it as everyone is gathered around the one table. Everyone is all around quiet, as it’s been a long journey for you, Gendry, and Davos. The only other one who didn’t appear to be eating was Bran, but that was normal now for him. Instead, he took his time observing you.
“And how are you, dear sister?” He asked.
You sometimes loathed the fact that he was the Three-Eyed-Raven, because obviously, he knows how you’ve been, but all the same, you put on a fake smile, “I’m well, Bran. Thank you for asking.”
“You’ve been tiring yourself,” he notes in response, “Have you been training all day and night?”
“Training?” Sansa looked up from her food to stare at you, “Training for what?”
“You don’t sleep anymore,” Bran adds.
Everyone was now looking at you, and the attention was making you turn hateful. One look and you could even see the Hound staring at you, so you wear a fake smile and aim it towards your brother, “...I find sleep a waste of time,” you tried to grin, even if it didn’t turn out right, “Why waste your time on sleep when there’s work to be done?”
“Tyrion Lannister said something similar like that to you once, back in Meereen.”
You froze, eyed widening at Bran, and Sansa nearly elbowed him to stop him, but it was already too late. The damage had been done. You shouldn’t be surprised that he knew about the memory, but it still shocked you because you barely remembered that day yourself.
Back in Meereen, in the mid-afternoon, you were sitting by the window, but you weren’t looking outside. Instead, you busied yourself with sketching a small portrait, every once in awhile looking up then back down at the parchment again to get the details right.
Across from you, Tyrion was fast asleep, snoring slightly as he did every night, except last night apparently, otherwise, he wouldn’t be asleep in the middle of the day.
He makes a startling noise, signaling that he was waking up and you couldn’t help but giggle, “Don’t open your eyes yet!”
Tyrion groans, stretching slightly but obeys your command, keeping his eyes closed with wearing a tired smile, “Why?”
“So I can get your eyelashes right.”
“Pardon? Are you drawing or something?”
“Well, I’m definitely not sculpting,” you spoke sarcastically.
“Gods, I hope not. No one ever gets my nose right,” he joked, “Now why in Seven Hells are you sculpting me?”
“Because I was bored and you were at my disposal since someone didn’t get any rest last night,” you teased.
“Why waste the night on sleep when you can stare at the most beautiful woman in the world? A man would be foolish not to, staying awake to memorize the details of your smile or the crinkles by your eyes or furrow of your brow.”
You smile to yourself, staring at Tyrion’s face for as long as you could since he hadn’t opened his eyes yet since you haven’t said otherwise. He was loyal like that. You get up from your spot and set the picture down, walking up to Tyrion and leaning down to whisper right in his face, “You can open your eyes now.”
And when he does, he’s rewarded with a kiss.
You sat there, eyes wide, staring at Bran like he just killed Tyrion himself. Sansa stands and reaches over the table towards you, and you startle when she got too close and you rush out of your chair.
“Y/n--”
“I’m going to bed,” you stammered, turning your back and walking away.
“The war’s over, Little Wolf. We all lost someone, and they’re not coming back. We made sure of that, so you might as well get used to it.” Typical Sandor. Always so blunt.
But this time, you wouldn’t have any of it as you turn your heels back to him with a dark snarl, “I wouldn’t expect YOU to understand. How could you possibly understand what it’s like to lose someone you love? You’ve never loved anyone!”
He doesn’t flinch. He barely even blinks. Not being able to get a rise out of him, itching for a fight, you turn away and go to find a room to lock yourself in, and maybe then you’ll punch the wall to feel better.
That night, like every night before it, you didn’t sleep. You sat on the edge of your bed, bandaging your knuckles since you punched the stone wall like you promised yourself. Your skin was purple and your whole hand was a little swollen, blood running through your fingers from your knuckles. You barely noticed the pain, too busy staring at the fire in front of you. Over the past couple of months, the pain had eventually numbed.
What startles you from your dazed expression is the knock on your door, and half screams not to open it. But instead, you stood up and walked to the door, opening it and shocking yourself to see Sandor Clegane standing there, towering over you like a tower. He didn’t look you in the eye, clearly uncomfortable being here. His usual sad eyes looked as if they had something to say, but he was too busy psyching himself up to say it. His eyes looked down to notice your hand, loosely wrapped in already bloody bandages. The two of you stood there for what felt like an hour, but really only a few minutes, before he spoke up.
“You might want to get that looked at by a maester. Or your sister will have my head.”
You don’t respond, but your surprised expression quickly turned into a glare, since you finally remembered his comment from earlier and was hoping he’d be the last person to be standing here. And by the looks of it, he was thinking the same thing.
“My sister.”
You arch an eyebrow up at him, “Excuse me?”
“I lost my sister. A long time ago,” Sandor grumbled, eyes squinting when he finally met your eyes, like this was probably the first time in a long time that he talked about this, but ti wouldn’t surprise you that it was, “Gregor killed her... back when we were lads, and I won’t even bother getting into the grimy details.”
Again, you don’t respond, tapping your fingers onto the door frame leading into your room. When you didn’t say another word, Clegane takes that as his cue to leave.
As he moves from the doorway and back into the dark halls, you find yourself calling out to him, “Sandor?”
The Hound looks back at you, stunned, not remembering the last time you said his name. Not even back in King’s Landing, when you were a girl, did you ever say his real name.
You nod your head slightly, barely looking him in the eye as you spoke, “Thank you.”
He scoffed, finding himself no longer nervous while rolling his eyes to the best of his abilities, “For what? My sister didn’t mean anything to you.”
“Not just that, but...” you took a deep breath, “I never thanked you before, for guarding my sister and I back at King’s Landing. We’ve never forgotten it.”
He doesn’t respond at first, too busy wanting to shout about how he left the two of you after the Battle of Blackwater, but was wise enough against it. “Get some sleep, Little Wolf,” then he turned away and left.
And for the first night in a long time, you slept.

Robb Stark x Fem!Lannister Reader
Tumblr media
The first time they met,it was love at first sight. He favoured his Tully side,with gorgeous icy-blue eyes and shiny auburn hair,charming every lady in the North with a simple smile and wink. The same could be said about her as well,Princess Y/N Lannister,whose hair gleamed like gold in the sun,and her deep green eyes would remind you of the thick forests the heroes from old Nan's stories would roam. The day Jon Arryn died was the same King Robert decided to choose a new Hand,and who better to choose than the most honorable man in all Westeros,Eddard Stark,Lord of Winterfell,Warden of the North? The young girl,three and ten of age,was a more unique gem than most would imagine,glancing at her innocent visage,and never imagining the  kinds of mischief she would cause around King's Landing,more or less with the help of her uncle Tyrion.
A new adventure was to start,and she was the first to get ready for the trip to the North,enthusiastic beyond belief for a change of scenery. Upon their meeting,she was the first of the Lion children to proceed with her courtesies and greeting the Starks,and after her father's conversation with Lord Ned,he ushered the little golden cubs to play with the wolf pups. Like any young heir would,he knelt in front of the Princess,kissed her hand,and smiled at her,like one of those Knights in shining armor from the babe lullabies.
Robb Stark,the young Stark heir,the boy with coppery Tully hair,like a heartfelt Autumn aesthetic,and stormy grey eyes that would intimidate anyone who'd dare look into them,was gazing at the golden maiden,Y/N Lannister,the eldest of the children,who was looking at him with her emerald eyes,like a forest in Spring after a rainy day,and a sparkly white smile that would dazzle anyone looking at her. It took only one look to ignite the spark between the two,that sooner than later would transform into an outright imminent forest fire that would make them question their loyalties more than ever before.
The wolf boy knew he had to somehow show off to the girl,to prove he's worthy of her attention,and along with Theon Greyjoy,Jon Snow and Bran Stark,challenged Joffrey and Tommen Baratheon to a fair match of sparring,age-accordingly. Joffrey accepted the challenge,as the Lion Prince and Heir to the Iron Throne,but was easily defeated by Robb,much to his sister's glee. Common knowledge stated that the elder Baratheon boy was never one to lose,so instead of passing the sword to his younger brother,for the next fight,as Robb did,he tried attacking the boy,but his attempted was easily stopped by his sister,who took him by the scruff of his robes and scowled at him.
Y/N:Very honorable,Prince Charming.Is this how you try to impress Sansa?By cheating like a vermin?How disgraceful.Well,not that it came as a surprise,really. Joffrey:Shut your mouth,sister,or you are next! Y/N:Oh,is that so?Then what's stopping you?Clearly not honour,to be precise.
Pushing him forward,she gripped the vial necklace,looking at him threateningly,as he turned around to glare at her,then lunged forward with the dull sparring blade. The girl only smirked at his poor attempt at scaring her,blocked the blow with her left hand,then strode forward with a metal object glinting at his throat-a recently sharpened dagger,that she hid in her dress sleeve.
Y/N:Is this going to calm you down,kid? Joffrey:How dare you mock your King?! Y/N:King?Please,you are a frail princeling at best,don't bother me with your meaningless threats. Joffrey:Just you wait,sister dear,I will become King and the first thing I do is have your head on a spike! Y/N:*winks*That is,if you can do it before that poison kick in~. Robert:What is going on here? Ned:Robb,what happened? Y/N:*grins*There is nothing to be concerned about,father.I and Joffrey were just playing around,as usual,nothing harmful. Robert:*laughs*Is that so?Look,Ned,my dear Y/N is beating Joffrey just like Lyanna used to pulverize you at every sparring! Ned:*sighs*I'd rather not be reminded. Y/N:Great memories should be cherished,Lord Ned!They are the best things we have. Robert:Look at her,she makes me so proud.Spoken like a true Baratheon!  Y/N:*clears throat*On another note,Robb here promised to show me around,so I shall be on my way.
As she did a mock-courtesy,she hurried to the young wolf swiftly,hooked her arm to his,and subtly dragged him away from the commotion,much to his amusement.
Y/N:Would it matter at all if I were to apologise for his behaviour?He's always been this petty,believe it or not.Not even our Lady Mother can stop him from being...an obsolete brat. Robb:*chuckles*Worry not,my Princess,there is no need for apologise.More so,I had quite a good laugh seeing you defeat him so easily. Y/N:Oh,that was nothing He's all talk and no bite,lunging blindly and so on.You could defeat him with your eyes closed,I am sure. Robb:My lady thinks very highly of me,I must say,I am flattered. Y/N:After all the showing off you pulled,am I supposed to say anything else? Robb:I daresay you did not enjoy it? Y/N:Seven Hells,no,on the contrary.It was much more entertaining than whatever tourneys we have every so often in King's Landing.It's always the same dull show,always the same victor,and so on. Robb:Many things differ here,up in the North.I believe it is safe to assume this journey came to be a rather welcomed change of pace? Y/N:You have NO idea.I feel like I can finally breathe,after all these years. Robb:Whatever could you mean by that? Y/N:You mean here came no word of the Glorious Stench that is embedded in the city?Starting from the great Flea's Bottom,literally everything and everyone stinks of...well...*shrugs* I'm sure you ca guess. Robb:*laughs*I was not aware my lady has such a great sense of humour.Nevertheless,if I could be so bold to say,such a sweet,flowery scent like yours has never gotten around this far North. Y/N:Oh,you like it?*grins*I've been told the perfume and oils have been made from the most mesmerising and famous flowers from the Tyrell Gardens,in Highgarden,down South.Needless to say,I am rather pleased with the quality as well.Then again,even such a lovely flower would wilt if it were to stay even for a moment in King's Landing...*chuckles*for obvious reasons. Robb:Truth is,my lady,if I were not used to drinking ale,I'd have gotten drunk in your sweet scent~.
At that comment,she only laughed merrily and shook her head,ruffling his mess of hair. Instead of properly showing her the buildings,he took her to Godswood,where he started telling her stories of the forest,the old Gods and of his ancestry,which greatly intrigued the young girl,who in turn told him of all the ridiculous songs the bards would sing,and how dull everything seemed to be in the South. The journey proved to be rather lovely for her,as she spent most of the time being courted by the young Stark child,who may or may not have enjoyed her company more than he would have hoped,and so,he earned a sweet,chaste kiss from her,just before her leaving back to her colourless home. The deal with the Starks has been struck,and now Ned Stark is the new Hand if the King,replacing the deceased Jon Arryn,and he's on his way to his post along with his daughters and their wolves. Unfortunately,Joffrey proved to be an outright jerk,and caused so much trouble,that his mother ordered for the wolves to be decapitated,to which Y/N protested vehemently,taking Arya's side.
Thankfully,Robert has always preferred his young girl,and let her take the decision,to which she nodded,glaring at her brother full of hatred,then summon Ned and his youngest girl,along with the two direwolves. Her plan was to pretend the animals have been killed,but instead,they would be chased away,that being their only means of survival in the harsh lion cage,but it must remain a secret,especially from naïve Sansa or the cruel Cersei. However,this only brought misfortune on the Starks,since after the King died,Joffrey was crowned,which lead to the decapitation of the most honorable and noble person alive,Arya ran away from the kingdom,Sansa was to marry Tyrion,and Joffrey was to marry Margaery Tyrell,who came with the whole family,after "saving" us from the "Blackwater Battle",caused by Stannis.
Clearly,in the meantime,Robb,the Young Wolf and now claimed King in the North was also fighting back,which could only mean trouble,and a confusion in the allegiance of the young Lioness,who was getting more and more disgusted with her family's lack of morals. It took a long time,but she convinced Tywin to become an "ambassador" between the Lannisters ans their allies,in order to defeat the Army of the North,especially after having heard of the Frey's and Bolton's betrayal of their cause. Much to her sorrow,Robb has married Jeyne Westerling,a Lannister lackey and pawn in the bigger scheme,which went against his promise to Lord Walder Frey. Instead,Lady Catelyn's brother,Edmure,was to wed a Frey girl,and the wedding would take place at the Twins...where a massacre would replace the joy of the feast.
The Lannister girl slipped a vial of strong poison in the hands of the Queen of Thorns and left in the middle of the night with a forged scroll that states a change of plans for the Young Wolf. She galloped faster than ever before,and after days,she arrived in front of the closed door of the Twins,when she jumped off the horse,got the guards to open the doors,and ran inside,getting easily horrorstruck at the gruesome sight in front of her. "CEASE THIS MADNESS!" she yelled,as she,too,got shot by two arrows,one in the shoulder,and the other in the shin.in all that commotion. Walder Frey raised his arm to stop the shooting,recognising the young girl.
Frey:What is it,Lady Lannister?With what purpose do we have the honour of seeing your Grace? Y/N:Lord Frey,it seems I have arrived here just in time.I came here with new of a change in the grand plans of my Lord Grandfather.This scroll in my hand states that he wants to take Robb and Catelyn Stark as war hostages,first and foremost,rather than have them killed in a bloody,meaningless carnage.I have been sent here to take them back,though,it seems to me like that will be an easy task,having the boy shot in the back as well.My reinforcements are at the end of the forest,awaiting our arrival in haste. Frey:That is a rather radical change in Lord Lannister's plans,however if he dared send his own granddaughter for this feat,then what else am I to do? Y/N:Robb Stark,the terms of you coming out alive of this room,along with your Lady Mother,is for you to bend the knee in front of me and acknowledge your defeat.The rest is to come as judgement in front of the King.
He looked confused as his former paramour,until he realised the truth behind the slithery lies,and complied to her every word,and following her,was allowed to take a horse for him and his mother,and his freed direwolf trailing behind them. At the end of the forest,she took a change of route,stirring in the opposite direction- To the North.
Y/N:I am rather pleased to see you remember our secret sign. Robb:Hard to miss. Y/N:I hear you are a married man now.How does that life style suit you? Robb:Rather than this pointless small talk,why don't you tell the truth? Y/N:What,how I saved your life?Simple.I've forsaken mine own. Cat:What does this mean? Y/N:You do not realise,do you?You really think Tywin Lannister would stop the massacre he planned so well?No chance. Cat:Then how did you do it? Y/N:I'm a great liar,of course.I made a deal with Olenna Tyrell to have Joffrey killed,convinced my grandfather that I have potential and no use for him in a larger,marriage plan,and here I am,an ambassador,risking my head to save you. Robb:Why would you do that?You are our enemy.We killed your kin. Y/N:Tsk.Spare me,Robb Stark.You have never been MY enemy.On the contrary,might I say.Regardless,we arrived to your camp,it seems,and this calls for a huge meeting,I dare say. Robb: First,we must get healed.Join me to my tent.
The two got to his personal tent,and go attended to by the healers,after he told the head of each house there will be an important meeting so they could plan future strategies. The girl said nothing to the man she just saved,and simply ignored him as she was being treated by some healer girl called Talisa. Not much time passed,when Robb put on his warm clothes and motioned to the Lannister girl to follow him to the meeting,along with his mother and the rest of the important North men,to discuss the future of the War.It was no surprise that the girl was almost assaulted by the chiefs,being seen as a threat,and not knowing the truth being the Wedding.
Robb:Captains,listen very clearly,for I will not repeat myself,and any other attack against Lady Y/N will be seen as treason.The Wedding was ploy created by Walder Frey and Roose Bolton along with Tywin Lannister since the very beginning,and the outcome would have meant the end of us,if it were not for her shrewd plan that mean going against her own House and family.From now on,she will be under my protection,is that clear?
It took a few inaudible chattering around the tent until they finally reached a mutual agreement.
Robb:Very well then. Y/N:If you do not mind,I want to know the reason of this war.Was it only because of Lord Eddard's death?If so,I have to confirm that the Lannister and the whole Small Council had nothing to do with it.It was solely Joffrey's spur of the moment decision and he could not be stopped...However,he is very dead now. Cat:What about my little daughters,Sansa and Arya? Y/N:*confused*Excuse me? Cat:Sansa and Arya,my girls,are they safe? Y/N:I think there has been a well used misunderstanding here.Arya fled the castle the day of Ned's decapitation.Nobody has seen her ever since.If you take my word for it,rumour has it she was taken by Yoren,who was told by her father to take her to the Wall,where she could be safe.I know naught of anything further on her account. Robb:You mean to say the Lannisters lied once again about having two hostages? Y/N:Could it be more obvious than that?My own mother manipulated Sansa for a long time and made her believe she was under her wing,until that dreadful day happened.Not anymore,since after the day of the Blackwater Battle,she too fled the castle. Cat:*sobs*My two girls are all alone in this world?They could be dead by now-... Y/N:I believe they would be doing far better out there,than surrounded by enemies.I do not know of Arya's whereabouts,and nothing was heard even by Varys,but I know Sansa is very safe,guarded by Sandor Clegane,and on their way to the Eyrie,to her Tully Aunt. Cat:You let her go with that beast of a man?That...that monster?! Y/N:He is not what he seems to be and I trust Sandor Clegane with my life.He is strong and loyal to me,he would never hurt Sansa. Robb:Mother,calm down,it is all for the best.We have nothing to be concerned about anymore. Y/N:I am not sure if you would be interested in this,but I have news of the Dragon Queen.My own uncle Tyrion was sent to the Slaver Cities to aid her the best he can and bring her back to Westeros as soon as possible.If she does,we could easily join our forces with hers and make sure she takes the Iron Throne. Robb:How do you know all this? Y/N:I am a Lannister,of course.Underestimate me not,Robb,for I have ears everywhere,much like our dearest eunuch,Varys. Robb:Then all we have to do is hold the North until she decides to reclaim her birth right,correct? Y/N:*sighs*Hopefully,sooner,rather than later.With grandfather dead,everything in King's Landing is an outright mess. Robb:Tywin Lannister is dead?! Y/N:*nods*I see word has not reached you yet.The day I left,Joffrey died,my Lord Grandfather accused my uncle of this,and Oberyn Martell chose to be his champion.However,his ego got the best of him and he lost against the Mountain,which got Tyrion to be put back in prison,awaiting death.Many thanks to my father,Jaime, and Varys for helping him escape,hence his new task. Robb:*ruffles his hair*Affairs in the South are much more complicated than I imagined. Y/N:Best not to bother with insignificant problems.What is in the South should remain there.The way I see it,we should return to protect the North as best as we can,and make sure there will be no Bolton or any other attack.I am not sure young Bran or Rickon could keep it all by themselves. Karstark:My King,how do you know this one is not telling falsehoods? Robb:I trust Y/N with my life.If anyone has something to say to or about her,first tell that to me.I admit,marrying Jeyne Westerling has been a mistake and I take full respon- Y/N:Hold up- Robb:Sorry? Y/N:Just so everyone would know about the Westerlings,that House threw their banners away to gain our favour.Jeyne was used by her mother to make sure this whole plan could happen.She made sure her daughter would bare your child so you would not leave her.I only heard you got wed,but not with whom. Robb:My honour has once again blinded my vision.I beg everyone's pardon and may you continue giving me good-willed advice,for the North's glory! All his bannermen got to their feet and started yelling "King in the North!" loudly,making him grin victoriously.
After the meeting was over,Robb welcomed the golden haired girl to his tent,where she would sleep until they arrived back to Winterfell.There,she stayed on a chair,picking up the nearest book,trying to take her mind away from all the problems and schemes flooding her brain so much that she did not realise the Wolf King took it from her hands. Robb:You seem troubled,my love.Is something the matter? Y/N:I am...I do not know.I just wish your father did not accept that position.Maybe all this...mess would not have happened. Robb:*sighs*That is true,yet time cannot go back,so we do what we have to do. Y/N:Nothing makes sense and it never did.We never played the Game of Thrones,but the ones who do are Varys and Littlefinger,using the stronger Houses as their pawns.Littlefinger...that son of a whore,I wish to burn him alive. Robb:I will allow you that,first occasion should occur.Until then,why do you not try to relax.You are safe here,I guarantee. Y/N:Safe...For how long?I am still shaken by the Red Wedding incident.I never thought... Robb:It is over,my lady.It is over,and you are the reason both I and my lady mother are alive.I owe you my life. Y/N:No,you do not.All you owe me is to promise you will live. Robb:*chuckles*That would be easy to do. Y/N:*smirks*Definitely.Marry again,and I will not save you. Robb:What if the person I decide to marry,this time,seriously,is you? Y/N:You must jest,Robb,and I do not like this one.It is a ridiculous proposition. Robb:Why would you think I am japing,my sweet lady?Courting you was not a clear way to express my affections for you? Y/N:*smirks*Tell that to your bannermen,My King.Lord Stark,marrying a treacherous Lannister!What are we going to do with him?He is just going to get himself killed again,and us along with him!Why not just side with the Crown,it would be the same thing! Robb:*chuckles*Do not be ridiculous,nothing of the sort would happen. Y/N:Why not just wait until everything calms down?Wait for the Targaryen girl to take over the show and just lay low for a while?Let her do all the scheming,for a change. Robb:Brilliant idea,my love,and with that,we could finally have a happy ending. Y/N:Do you think anyone could have a happy ending in this bloody mess of a game? Robb:If we strive for it,I see do not see why not. With a small smile,he caressed her face gently,stormy eyes looking into her own forest ones,and leaned in,kissing her for the second time,this time with more love and passion than the first time around.She happily obliged,returning the kiss with just as much fire,playing with her hands in his hair slowly,until they let go,catching their breathe. Much to his confusion,the girl started laughing,leaning back on the chair and covering her face.With a stutter caused by laughter,she managed to say the cause of her amusement was his messy,rebel hair,sticking out in all directions,to which he could only chuckle too.
That night,they stayed in bed,under the warm furs,embracing one another and telling each other funny stories,just like during the good old days,when they were still young and naive. That night,they were not King and Lady,or Stark and Lannister,instead,they were just Robb and Y/N,two young,beautiful teenagers in warm,innocent heat of love.
