hi!!so i've wanted to get into astrology for a long time but it's kind of a struggle :/ and i fond risings signs super interesting! so i wanted to ask if they actually affect the way you look because that's super cool

Omg hii, I regard u as a mood and a fellow memey kpoper (your posts and tags are so funny and a mood) I understand because when I first got into astrology seriously, wow it was a lot to take in and more complex/deep but take ur time and don’t stress too much about it. And yes risings can affect your appearance or more of: manifest physically. 

✨Rising/Ascendant🌿

You may notice some ppl with the same rising carry a similar vibe or energy or so and sometimes ppl just cant point it out. Ex: virgo risings don’t stand out often and may have a quiet presence at first irl. Regarding the facial features, it’s pretty hard for me to at least figure out someone’s rising based on that, and I can’t form a good picture about the facial features each rising has to be exact. 

Risings can be affected from aspects within your chart, dominance of the planet or energy of your rising/ascendant. I’m not sure how to begin with it but I’ll start with each planet in the ascendant. First off I’ll start with mercury, If their rising is a gemini or virgo, it is ruled by mercury and often these individuals may be youthful physically or generally don’t age fast in appearance. With gemini rising, I have noticed quite a few gemini risings that may have their baby face or round large eyes, but often they are refered to eyes that are sparkly. (Actually gemini placements in general sometimes exhibit these traits) (Ex: Sandra Bullock and John Krasinski have gemini rising).

Virgo risings are also youthful but in a more contained moderate state due to their reserved/shy nature, they may dress simple, neat or exude some elegance from this disposition. Ofc I believe earth risings have a natural sensual appeal hidden, so there are some forms of it within virgo. Ex: Sunmi has a virgo rising I believe, and Emma watson also has a virgo rising. So if you have mercury dominance or it is prominent in your chart, most likely it can physically manifest.

Aries rising/Mars in the ascendant may make someone quite energetic. Aries is the sign ruled by mars, and aries rising often have a distinguishable feature or harbor distinct features on their face. Their gaze can look sharp, but in the sense of fueled by energy/passion. They may have distinct eyebrows and Aries rising may be individuals of their own charisma, and may be seen through a sense of an impression through their style choices. Ex: I think Shakira, and Haseul from Loona have aries rising.

Pisces rising/Neptune in the ascendant/aspected or planet energy dominance can make an individual be a bit of a blender, they’re the type of person you notice after closely differentiating them and then seeing their sweet melancholic feeling they give off. They seem to zone out or look sleepy at times. (Ex: Billie eilish has pisces rising, and in her childhood photos she does pertain the impression of a sweet reserved kid that wouldn’t stand out at first in class photos.) However pisces energy tend to absorb or be known as the chameleon of the zodiac, so their style or vibes are hard to pinpoint as they may be able to adapt style or energy within a crowd of people and etc. Their energies are mellow so it may take a while to spot a psices rising. (More pisces rising celebs: Bruno mars and Zayn Malik) You also tend to notice their eyes could either give the illusion of an wistful ocean or watery bright river. Since pisces has a symbol of a fish and is a water sign, they could be associated as water, interchangeable or can don different shapes/styles. (Ran out of gif space)

Saturn in the ascendant or aspected individuals are usually the ones that witness a drastic glow up or late glow up that may boost their appearance. I’m not sure about this one, but many saturn individuals retain their youth into their adulthood and it’s a different kind of youth from mercury, more of a state of elegance and coolness that is preserved. Capricorn is governed by saturn, and these individuals do attract ppl with their attitude and impression, in general. They dress in an organized and stylistically classy way? Ex: Ariana Grande and Taylor swift have cap rising. They can be seen as young and gorgeous, rather a different youthful beauty than Gemini rising, there is some maturity within it however cap placements in the big 3 (sun, moon, rising) seem to manifest a physical glowup or notice of their beauty. (ofc every sign has their own beauty so I’m not specifically categorizing cap rising like this)

The planet sun in the ascendant or aspected to it/ leo in the ascendant, may make an individual naturally attracts other attention/spotlight onto them. These individuals may have some type of regality and glamour that impresses others. They may look great in whatever style or in their own statement style. Ex: Marilyn Monroe and Meryl Streep have leo as their ascendant, and they have a sense of an strong aura, Yeonjun (txt) could possibly have a leo rising lmao he’s such a fashionista and definitely has the confidence. Also I notice from the ones with this placement their hair may be a noticeable factor or a big trait of their physical image.

Venus dominance or in the ascendant/ libra or taurus in the ascendant may bring an individual to naturally possess some type of beauty others cannot discern of. Libra risings have that air of pleasantry that partially adds to their beauty factor, and their symmetrical features are often likable and attracts others. Ex: I.N from Straykids I think could have a libra rising, and I think it was confirmed that Jihyo has a libra rising after Jihyo mentioned her birthtime. Taurus risings can be seen as sensual or very traditionally beautiful. I notice taurus risings eyes and mouth may be sensual or the attractive feature that is drawn to their face, and the celebs with taurus rising seem to have good skin presently. Ex: Camilia Cabello, Denise Richards. Taurus risings also have something ethereally beautiful but in a more earthly warm way. 

Cancer rising/when the moon is in the ascendant or aspected presence in the chart, the native can give off motherly or friendly vibes that others may feel comforted by. Their faces can be soft and round, or give off a gentle warm vibe and their eye smiles and smile in general may be eye catching or one of their distinct features. Perhaps moony eyes. Cancer risings bodies can be healthy or full depending on the presence of the planet in the native’s chart. Also these natives are part of the slow aging squad, due to their soft features/face shape they may still retain that young vibe. I think Lisa from Blackpink has a cancer rising and Angelina Jolie. Both of their bodies has some softness but healthy figure to them. (Angelina in her old days was known for her curves and healthy figure, and still is but due to age)

Pluto dominance or presence aspecting the ascendant or having scorpio in the ascendant seem to have a distinct eye and eyebrow structure/shape. Their eyes may be sharp like they are thinking but you don’t really know what they are thinking of. These natives could have an alluring/charismatic presence and their fashion statement seems to center around dark or mature colors (but ofc this can vary). Ex: Katy Perry and Debbie Harry have scorpio rising. Ofc they don’t always wear black, but their attire or fashion may have some form or association with the color black or red, whether eyeliner or dress or shoes etc. Also scorpio risings don’t have to wear black to be their smexy self, they just own it.

Jupiter presence in the chart or in the ascendant/sagittarius rising usually have thick or healthy looking hair. Their smiles and features seem to give off a bright and charming energy that attracts others. I think there is a natural talent of attracting ppl in their social circle, or may be popular or known in some way. Ex: Princess Diana, Anne Hathaway and Kim Kardashian have a sagittarius rising. Ofc their bodies are one of the physical focal point, for princess Diana she had a very healthy and opposite of a thinner physicality. Kim Kardashian was at first known for her natural curves and desired body. Anne Hathaway’s figure has been noted through wearing fitted dresses and other iconic fashion moments of her curves and hourglass figure.They also may present a jovial expression or vibe, from the way they smile or etc. Sagittarians may have distinct thighs or their legs may be the attractive point for others.

Uranus dominance or in the ascendant/ Aquarius risings are people that may have a unique look or statement. They may have an otherworldly vibe, something found spacial or not your typical vibe, (Audrey Hepburn has an aquarius rising and it can be noted that there may be that aforementioned description found when glancing at Audrey, especially her eyes like they’re staring far off into another space, like they see something or past the earth. Disney’s country selections at the World Showcase in Epcot will never fail to confuse me.

Like, not only do we only have 11 countries when there is ABSOLUTELY room for them to expand, but I think everyone would love a country addition once in awhile. Not to mention, it would be good for business and keep fresh interest in the attraction.

But not only that...one of the countries they have is the United States... the country where the park is? I—

Disney, the whole point of this showcase is that I want to travel the world. Not to an idealized version of the country I’m already in.

I just traveled through Florida to get here— I really don’t need to be reminded of the United States right now.

Where are Egypt, Greece, Brazil, Sweden, Australia, Israel, Argentina, Thailand, Russia, Poland, Spain, Nigeria, South Korea, Iceland, Turkey, Philippines, Ireland or Scotland?

Madagascar and Ethiopia could be nice selections for more African countries. And some more central/ south American countries: Peru, Chile, Honduras or Nicaragua, Venezuela. Do Colombia and blast Shakira in the pavilion. Go to the Caribbean and do Jamaica, as well as a Pacific Island or two.

Oh, and the big one— HOW IS FREAKING INDIA NOT IN THIS SHOWCASE?

Oh, but when you look into it...

THEY HAVE BEEN CONSIDERING IT. AND THEY SOUND AMAZING.

This is the tip of the iceberg of all of the countries I would like to see, but I love it. Doing an exhibit to represent Sub- Saharan Africa is brilliant. Israel representing Jewish culture and heritage.

Disney— you haven’t updated this since 1998. DO THIS, keep expanding. I want all the countries representing as wide a variety of the world’s cultures as possible. I want the Epcot challenge to be impossible for those without a hollow freaking leg.

Oh, one last thing Disney. If you’re that set on doing the United States, maybe have the pavilion be, oh, I don’t know, CELEBRATING A VARIETY OF NATIVE AMERICAN CULTURES?

Last movie: Soul (2020). Didn’t know almost anything about it before and was very pleasantly surprised.

Currently reading: Mieliala - Helsinki 1939–45. A non-fiction book about the Finnish state surveiling its citizens during WW2 in order to try and find out the general mood and attitudes towards the war/other people/etc. There was an accompanying exhibition for this book right before the pandemic started, but I somehow managed to mess up and miss it.

Currently watching: The Great Pottery Throw Down season 2, and a few other things, but very slowly. I still have the last episode of CAOS left, been postponing watching it for weeks (I know what happens in it and just want to deny it’s happening).

Currently craving: Besides the big altruistic things like climate crisis not happening or social inequality not being a thing or the pandemic to be over for important reasons like less people dying and suffering: I would like to be able to again go to the hairdresser's or travel by bus/train (in my city or - le gasp - to neighbouring towns or even the two hours to Helsinki or Tampere) or do basically anything and not feel guilty even for meeting even the very few people I currently meet. Also at the moment some tiramisu with some new and exciting sort of tea would be lovely. And some beautiful but comfy lingerie without having to actually shop to get it. And some cuddles would be very nice too (dammit this week I even had a dream where I just cuddled with somebody). Sorry, I’m starting to get a bit greedy apparently. :P

What I Love About New York

To start with, I'll be discussing everything about everything!

First up: What I love about New York. I have lived here since forever! That's right.  I have seen a lot, done a lot. I am raising my family here. New York is my home and I love it much more than I hate it.

So what do I love about it?

For one, it is a city where there is something happening every day, every night, every minute.

Do you like food? I do! you can't go 20 steps without finding ten different restaurants; Italian, Chinese Thai Japanese, Spanish, French, American, Greek, Lebanese, Turkish, Caribbean.

Last Night’s Super Bowl

What did you all think of the Super bowl? It was something right? I loved Shakira and J. Lo.  How fabulous are they?! ...But just a tad too sexy. Am I jealous? Not a chance. Look at the bread I bought for the occasion from Breads on 16th between 5th and union Square. and the spicy Poppers were pretty good too. but we ate them so you can’t see them.

Well, here’s my (abbreviated) Paper Skin headcanon/trivia lists for the main characters. Let me know if you have any questions or want me to expand any more?

Lance

Cuban and Spanish, raised by his Mom and Grandma, came to US when he was 4.

06/21 ETA: Born a werewolf, as were his brothers and sister (werewolf bloodlines in this AU are Matrilineal and he's descended of only wolfmothers, more on that soooooon).

Refers to Cindy as Mama Garrett and Henry by his first name because he is still a little detached (was raised without his dad present in Cuba so it feels weird)

Loves to climb trees and go up high, instinctively longs to climb mountains.

Didn't do that great at school so he decided to put off college and wound up becoming a jack-of-all-trades and a self-taught chef.

Cooking helps him remember his mother, makes him feel closer to her.

Is a cat person, doesn't like dogs and especially hates coyotes and jackals instinctively. (Will try to maul a jackal on sight. Coyotes just get angry growls.)

LOVES cats of all kinds. Will befriend mountain lions during full moon much to their surprise, or break into a zoo and make nice with all the big cats if left unattended.

Okay so one time when he was a teenager he got into the Bronx Zoo and first tried to chill with the leopards/black panther in the jungle exhibit but it was closed, then he tried to go see the snow leopards & the tigers but couldn't get into their enclosures. Somehow figured out how to get to the Lions.

He mauled a rare deer and dragged it into the Lion enclosure to present to them and become an honorary member of the pride. 

The Garretts and some other members of their pack had to break in and drag him away

The Lions were not happy that they lost their new pack member but got over it.

Whenever he visits the zoo as a guest you could SWEAR they recognize him and call out to him.

When he's a wolf he prefers deer or other hoofed mammals and second favorite is rodents. (Ends up eating birds just because of his natural tree-climbing instincts. Also he knows Hunk likes them so he brings him pigeons and quails.)

All time favorite thing he's eaten as a wolf was a Moose that he caught for Keith (will explain in a future chapter) with a very lost and confused Caribou as a runner up.

Least favorite is crow or birds of prey but he gets short-sighted when he's wolfy and sometimes just hunts for the thrill of it. He's taken down a red-tailed hawk and an Eagle owl.

Favorite music: Shakira (prefers her ¿Dónde Están Los Ladrones?-era stuff), Gorillaz, TV on the Radio, Robyn, Rihanna

Keith

Was brought into the Shirogane clan at around age 12/13.

Identifies as Asian-American since his Dad was part Korean but does not know where his mom came from. Assumes she was of a mixed background as well.

His dad was sired by Akira Kogane, who was of Chinese and Japanese descent so he wonders if that filters down with vampire progeny?

Speaks very little Japanese, enough to answer Shiro if he uses a well-known phrase but not enough to converse

Has a recurring nightmare where tree branches start growing out of his throat and choke him

Really wants a motorcycle but will settle for a car of his own. Doesn't want Shiro to buy it, he's saving his own money.

He's actually a very good driver and Shiro will let him drive his vehicles.

Studied outside of school with help from coven members that were teachers as also some help from Pidge and the Holts so he was able to get his GED at 19

Very glad he has Umbra for a pet because she is very good at helping him figure out the time of day based on her behavior and feeding habits (yes he forgets that his phone will tell him the time and weather conditions because he is so used to living completely indoors)

Has a bug-out room in the apartment he shares with Lance. It's much bigger than the closet corner and has room for some emergency supplies and he's put up some corkboards on the walls.

Prefers type O blood and tries to avoid AB because it's like OJ with pulp (there's too much extra antigens in it). Loves pork blood when it's Lance's recipe.

Favorite music: Dolly Parton, The Cure, MCR, Siouxsie & the Banshees and PJ Harvey

Hunk

Born a werewolf, mostly Grey wolf but there's some Asian/Japanese wolf ancestry

Full name is Tsuyoshi Garrett (born Tsuyoshi Seido but had it legally changed when Henry Garrett adopted him)

His mom is Cynthia Tsukiyama-Garrett, and birth father is Tsutomo "Tommy" Seido

He considers Henry Garrett his Dad, hence why he took his last name instead of going by Seido or changing it to Tsukiyama

Henry gave Hunk his nickname after his half-brothers teased him about being a "runt"

Was great at school and did some undergrad at Hunter, then left to go to culinary school.

He finished culinary school and worked at his Mom's bar while trying to figure out if he really wanted to work in a fancy restaurant that wouldn't give him time away for full moon stuff

First time he met Shay he choked on his own spit because his mouth went dry and he nearly passed out

Second time was a better impression, his little sisters both caught the flu and were in wolf-form and was finally able to be his sweet charming self because he was so focused on his sisters' well-being that he forgot to freak out that the pretty veterinarian was smiling at him.

Had a full blown panic attack when he cooked for Shay without knowing she was a vegetarian and inadvertently won her heart with how caring and concerned he was.

Is practicing making Kushari because Shay's family is Egyptian and he wants to impress them. He already makes fantastic hummus.

His preferred food as a wolf is any kind of fowl (sparrow, chicken, turkey, etc.) Secretly loves peacock, but resists the urge to break back into St. John the Divine's Cathedral to snarf one up.

Least favorite food as a wolf is any kind of seafood or fish. Loves them as a human but finds them too bony and briny when wolfed-out.

Favorite music: Matt and Kim, LCD Soundsystem, Beck, The Hold Steady, Broken Social Scene

Pidge

Irish-Italian, her parents are very lapsed Catholics

Currently in High School and will end up at Columbia after timeskip

Needs to study an animal before trying to shift. Often pictures or online video is enough but really does prefer to be up close and personal so she can nail any vocalizations that the audio distorts or doesn't quite catch.

Her dad has a mastery of most animal forms and also can do inanimate objects. Pidge will work on that next. It takes a lot of concentration and holding her breath 

Keith is her favorite because he'll support her delinquency (he doesn't realize it) and she likes helping him figure societal conventions out. They talk or visit at least once a week if not more.

Pidge would make Keith do her homework as a way of home-schooling him (and it also reinforced whatever she was learning, meaning she'd ace every subject and test), it dropped off after Keith got his GED and started working. Schoolwork still is rather easy for her after so many years of teaching herself good study habits by tutoring Keith.

Shiro being ageless is a stable presence in her life, but she thinks of him as more of her brother's friend or like an eccentric uncle

(Pidge has many eccentric uncles and aunts due to her family being half fae descendants, and half metahumans)

Her favorite food is pancakes. Least favorite is eggplant.

Favorite music: Zoë Keating, Tricky, Portishead, Massive Attack, Modest Mouse 

Allura

Was introduced to the underground supernatural community of NYC by her godfather, Coran.

Born and raised in London. Westbourne Gardens area.

Came to the US on student visa and goes to grad school for biochem. Phlebotomy is a way for her to make money and help out Shiro, as Coran's family has known of his for years

No, she doesn't know why Coran has that accent even though he's lived in Brooklyn for as long as she knows

Her pet "mice" are actually Degus. She likes carrying them around in her pockets or purse, they are very well-behaved.

She's never going to bring them NEAR Lance because she knows how much he loves eating fuzzy little rodents

Her favorite food is Candy Floss, least favorite is tomatoes.

Favorite music: Nina Simone, Lana Del Rey, anything Stevie Nicks has done, Ms. Dynamite and Kylie Minogue

Shiro

Names all his businesses after vampire things because he believes in hiding in plain sight (Shuten-dōji was the yokai/vampire that turned him)

Didn't return to his hometown after being turned into a vampire. Was too ashamed and scared he would hurt them. His neighbors and friends assumed he died in the Great Tenmei famine.

Despite his issues with aging, he's tried dying his hair but it looks awful so he just leaves the white streak

Was a very good horseback rider in his youth. Joined the military and was a skilled fighter.

It took a while for him to adjust to motor vehicles. He hit Hunk's grandmother with his car, (but that's how he found the Tsukiyama pack so it worked out and she was fine.)

First cat was named Bobō, a calico. Current cat is Kikō, a tabby.

Prefers type B blood but will settle for O or AB. Type A makes him sneeze after he eats.

Not really a music fan, prefers quiet. He really liked jazz when he first heard it so he sometimes puts on very old, worn-out LPs.

He answers to Takashi or Shiro. Shi-kun or Shi-chan to friends that use his honorifics, later Shiro-kun or Shiro-chan, when he took the nickname referring to the white streak in his hair.

He still has a bad habit of not responding if people address him by Shirogane alone.

(Because "Shirogane-san" was his twin's preferred name)

SUMMER MOVIE LIST (Movie & Music) :  The Sound of the New Millennium or How Electronic and New Music Genres Changed the Way We "Listen" to Movies...

Following the reading of a recent article on Noisey (link) about how THE BEACH and its electronic-music-infused soundtrack turned 18, one will realize that “techno/rave” music changed the way movies were scored or “musically supervised” and became an integral part of films playing almost as a new form of musical. Of course it all started back then with BLADE RUNNER or the original TRON but it bloomed in the late 90's early 00s with glorious soundtracks from BLADE or MATRIX; everybody knows “that song from that memorable scenes"! 

Around the same period, we also saw a great hybrid of electro/metal genre (new wave Goth/Heavy-Metal was also trending in soundtrack with Marilyn Manson or Rammstein) and films like XXX, RESIDENT EVIL and even the MATRIX trilogy used this unique blend to maximize on the “dark future / strange doom” feeling associated with the new millennium. 

It is interesting to also note that with this growing apprehension of the apocalypse came a "fashion" trend blending nothing and everything at a time where cultural appropriation was not a big deal! (It felt somehow "innocent" in term of cultural insensitivity; it was almost was perceived as  acknowledging or "honoring" the booming multiculturalism as opposed to the sense of "exoticism" associated with exhibiting oriental outfit in the 70's...) From "ethnic-pun" with neon cornrows, glittery bindies (or any Indian jewel) and African inspired makeup to the "woke angel of death" that turn goth into samurai; it was a jolly time where everything was permitted and nonsensical because... We were all suppose to die in some planet/sun/star/universe explosion due to the Y2K bug! (Let's remember that it wasn't just because of the movie but MTV music videos stars helped this from Janet Jackson to Gwen Stephany up untill Shakira - mixing native Indian feather with rocker leather pants - and reaching a peak with Madonna 'Frozen era'... What a time to be alive it must have been! )

Anyway, in this spirit of nostalgia let's explore how these new music trend and particularly electronic music with its cool fresh sounds helped in shaping a new movie genre and created a specific (almost cliched!) cinematic atmosphere for the age.

ProducedbyTyler drops his latest collab album "The Way I Dreamed It, Vol. 2"

We are in the era of the producer.  From Metro Boomin to Murder Beatz and so many more, this is the time where a good portion of the limelight is now going to the people behind the switches and keys.  Arizona Hip Hop has their own base of producers and DJs that craft some amazing music for talented artists in Arizona and all over the world to utilize as the foundation of their songs.  One of these talented Arizona producers recently released an album that caught our attention. The Way I Dreamed It, Vol. 2 from ProducedbyTyler was recorded and produced at Sunset Studios in Mesa, Arizona.  This 11-track album flows from beginning to end and acts as a calling card for ProducedByTyler as producer and engineer while signaling that he’s one of the more unique and talented producers in Arizona.  

The album kicks off with “Shakira Wine” which plays like a dancehall jam and that tone informs the rest of the album.  This song could easily fit into a weekend playlist next to Sean Paul or Vybz Kartel tracks.  The vocal talents of Blk9 really shine through and the hook is very catchy.  These talents also act as a bridge between the first two songs as Blk9 joins FRESCOTOLDYA for “Friday Night Party”.  This also keeps the same vibe from the previous track while offering up a feel good track that could act as a soundtrack to carefree nights.  That carefree feeling gets turned into a slow jam with the next song “Zone”.  The music slows down and the smooth vocals signify this is time to address adult topics.  The bars from D-Beezy Baby ride the beat with an up and down cadence that matches the content of the song while Kiid Tru sets the tone with a deep chorus and Dre Smuzic goes all in with some impactful notes and lyrical construction that really highlights his range.  

The fourth song on the album is “777” which features E batt, strips away a lot from the music which allows the exhibition of lyrics and delivery stand out.  While it’s a shorter song, it’s begs for a replay as the simplicity of the music and the passion of the lyrics balance out and leave you wanting more.  MeechieGotBarz brings some hype with his delivery on the next track “Gary Payton” which sees the music take the low key approach  like the previous track and gives this ode to cannabis a subtle way to turn up the intensity of the album.  This song is easily a standout on the album and could be a fan favorite as more and more people listen.

Blk9 is back to deliver and does it big with the next track “Slide”.  The song plays contextually with the previous one but also hits on sonically established elements from earlier in the album.  Having Blk9 featured on two tracks earlier on the album, which are decidedly different in content than this one, really shows the thought that went into making this album have a seamless flow while not being one dimensional. Another standout track is up next with “Randeveu” which Teek Hall, FRESCOTOLDYA, and Earth Yarb jump on and do it big.  Teek uses his distinct voice to set the tone while the effervescent flows of FRESCOTOLDYA permeate the middle of the track and Earth Yarb serenades you on the way out.  Blk9 and Kyle James linkup on the next track “What You Deserve”, a middle finger to someone that puts themselves on a pedestal.  The bars are honest and offered up with an old school inspired delivery which fits the beat well as it doesn’t over complicate things, and for a track about such a real and universally applicable situation, it does wonders for the consumption of the content of the song.  

D-Beezy Baby brings heat on the 9th track “Heavenly” which he uses to put racism and bigotry on blast.  The power of his voice is enhanced by the atmospheric music ProducedByTyler created and it works the other way around as well.  This track is powerful and emphatic and deserves a listen for more than a few reasons.  Kyu the Legend, the Real Messori & King Life the Goat come together for the more unorthodox song on the album.  Celebrating the lavish things in life while doing in on their own terms is the message.  This message is delivered not just in the lyrics but the instrumental is so unique itself that it helps catapult that message further.  The final track from ProducedByTyler is another stand out as it gives the synth laced music time to resonate before Blk9, Kyu the Legend, Earth Yarb & Kyle James collab to close out this amazing exhibition in showcasing your sound as a producer.  

From love to lust and the parties and vibes that flow between the two, ProducedByTyler does a tremendous job of setting the tone of his album and doesn’t crowd the track list with songs or sounds that don’t flow with the established motifs and themes of the album.  If you want a mixtape style project where the songs feel like a mashup of sounds that feel like singles thrown together to make an “album” then you should try something else.  If you want a real album, something that has cohesion and fluidity, something that allows you truly get lost in the sound, this is the album for you.

A/N: this is for @bladebarnes‘ 2k Writing Challenge! My theme was ‘love at first sight’ and I ended up exploring a spin on it...hope you enjoy :) 

Friday, 7:15 pm

Everyone prays.  Everyone has their reasons, too: wanting to be closer to a religious figure, for protection, hope, or the last slice of pizza. Whether they know it or not, they pray.

Including you, devoutly, for the L train to hurry its metal butt up.  

All you wanted was to get home to Brooklyn, and as that wouldn’t happen without having faith in the being that controlled the rails, you urged the oil gods to make the rails smooth and quick and whatever else the metal butt needed to move fast.  You had to take the L train, but if you could help it, you didn’t want to take the L.  Here’s to hoping your prayers convinced it to come on time. 

Your week had gone terribly. Today worst of all. A stockbroker on Wall Street, you had a high-stress job to begin with, and then add in the impatient dealers and buyers wanting to get their trades in before the long weekend and it became almost unbearable.  You’d never been so happy to yell TGIF to your coworkers the second the clock struck seven and you could leave.  

“Finally,” you mumbled as the L train glided into the station, two minutes behind schedule, better than usual. Few people joined you on the train so it was easy to fall into the seat of your choice. You debated resting your overworked head against the grimy window but decided against it. Of course, to add on to the week, you had forgotten your headphones, so daydreaming would have to pass the forty-five minute commute.

You couldn’t deny New York was a pretty fantastic city, its transit system notwithstanding; the view while crossing the bridge into Brooklyn was stellar. However, the further the train got away from the city of bright lights and no sleep the more you could feel yourself relaxing, a smile even appearing for the first time in hours.  That smile stayed on while you stepped over the threshold of your apartment, inhaling the scent of home that you missed so terribly.  You felt better, but not quite good enough, so you texted your boyfriend seeing if he wanted to come over for a late dinner.

Spaghetti was boiling on the stove when Steve let himself in, whistling.  Your face lit up when you noticed him toe off his shoes and approach you for a much-needed hug.

Another prayer of yours: that he never runs out of hugs. Somehow they make everything better.

“Hi honey.” Steve pulled you into his side while you stirred the pasta and he pecked your forehead. “How was your day?”

You groaned in answer.

“That bad, huh?”

“So bad...I’ve never been happier to be home. Rumlow was breathing over my shoulder all day about the new account I picked up, and he only stopped after I threatened to staple his tie to the desk.  God,” you exhaled, going over to the sink to drain the pasta, “please give me the strength to do it one day.”

Steve’s chuckle echoed as he moved to the next room to set the table. “I don’t know why he’s the favourite in your office, he sounds like a jerk.”

“He is. Please ask my boss that at the next holiday party, if you do I’ll do anything you want.”

Steve poked his head through the kitchen doorway to look at you with a goofy expression. “Anything?”

“Mind out of the gutter, Rogers!”

“You said it, not me,” he winked, his playful grin disappearing.  Once they were cool, you scooped up the noodles and poured tomato sauce over them. You handed Steve a plate when you sat down at the table, him picking up his fork and twirling the spaghetti immediately.  Looking up, he laughed when you tossed your napkin at him.

“I meant going to see the exhibit at the Smithsonian you’ve been talking about!”

“Are you sure?”

You tried to look away to stop a laugh from bubbling up except he was so cute you couldn’t help but tug at his arm for a kiss. It was one way of not having to fully answer what he asked, plus he missed your lips before. Steve had been here fifteen minutes and you already felt a thousand times better, an effect you always appreciated about his presence. You hoped you did the same for him in his times of hardship.

“Yes. How are you?”

“I’m good! I had a lunch meeting today at the best coffee shop, I have to take you, you’d love it.  The guy I met was from Redwing Designs and he was very interested in working with us…”

He launched into the details of his firm’s upcoming building deal and you listened intently.  Architecture was a fascinating topic when Steve talked about it; his whole face lit up and his eyes sparkled when you asked follow-up questions about a particular topic.

You talked happily through dinner and the clean-up, before settling in to watch the show you’d started together. You snuggled up to his side and watched him flick through the Netflix guide. Season 4 had promised to be even more dramatic than the previous ones and you both were excited to see it play out.

“Oh, Y/N, about the Smithsonian: I do have a couple free passes...wanna go?”

“Now?” you asked, taking hold of Steve’s arm and squeezing it.  “It's closed, hon.”

“Not now,” he confirmed, resting his hand on your hip to bring you more into him. “It’s up to you, but tomorrow works.”

“It does for me too, let's go!”

“But we should be there early.”

“Okay.”

“So you’ll get up?”

“Definitely. I bought a loud alarm clock.”

“I’m holding you to that.”

“...what time does it open?”

Being cute must be a gift for him, for he was even when bashful. “Six thirty.”

You blinked.

“I know, I know, but it gets busy,” Steve said, pressing a quick kiss to your lips to prevent you from reaching for your phone and checking the opening times to see if he was serious. “It’s a really popular exhibit.”

“Not a problem, Stevie, we’ll go before the crowds.” Your hand rested on his chest to trace random patterns, knowing how much it would mean to him if he was the first one in line. The exhibit was right up his alley.

“It’s a date.”

His fingers ran through the strands of your hair and he started the show. You watched many episodes, possibly too many, since both of you began drifting off in the middle of particularly drama-filled scenes. You’d have to rewind, but Steve was so comfortable and he’d have to move to get the remote. Not an option if you could help it.

“Y/N, hon. It’s late, I should get home,” Steve murmured, shaking you oh so gently. You stopped his sleepy limbs from leaving and looked at him through half-lidded eyes. “Stay the night, please?”

He nodded, a smile stretching from ear to ear, one so bright it beat the television. “Okay.  Let’s go to bed, we might get sore necks here.”

“Sounds good,” you yawned while standing and pulling Steve to his feet. He enveloped you in a great big bear hug and you stayed like that a minute, using each other as a headrest until you felt yourselves about to fall asleep standing up.

”Let’s not fall over...that might make us more sore.”

You made a noise of agreement and let go.

Steve had clothes and a toothbrush at your place so your night routines were quick and simple.  While brushing your teeth you poked your head into your bedroom, where he was settling under the sheets. You observed while he fluffed with the pillows, making a face as he fiddled; after a few moments he switched the one on his side for the one on yours.  

You knew your bed. He had just made sure you got the fluffier pillow.

If it was possible to melt like an ice cube, you would have been a puddle on the floor. How did you get so lucky to be dating him? He even let your wear his sweater to sleep, even though he might not get it back right away. 

Since you weren’t made of ice, you melted into his embrace instead, nuzzling your face into his shirt and grasping at his back to get him closer.  

“Thank you for dinner,” he said in a whisper close to your ear.

“Thanks for coming. You always make everything better.”

“Anytime, Y/N, I’m always here for you.”

“And me, you.”

After you adjusted the blankets so he wouldn't get cold you both said your goodnights and immediately fell asleep, curled into each other.  

Saturday, 5:36 am

There should be other methods for waking up. Alarm clocks were rude and persistent, two qualities that your least favourite colleague possessed and that you couldn’t stand as a duo.  Therefore, alarm clocks were almost as bad as Brock Rumlow. They only won because you could press a button to make them be quiet, a luxury you were not afforded when dealing with the human counterpart.

You felt around the bed for Steve, the result being warm sheets and no body. Frowning at the air temperature when you sat up and put your feet on the floor, you pulled the hood of Steve’s sweater over your head and opened your bedroom door, eyes still closed.  A promise was a promise. Meaning you needed to get ready for the museum and by extension it meant getting up.

There was a benefit to sleeping at your apartment: you’d mastered the art of walking from your bed to the coffeemaker without having to see.  Your mental map allowed you to do this without bumping into furniture, so you didn’t slow until you heard the music that grew louder as you approached the kitchen, music that you were pretty sure was 2000s-era Shakira. Yes, it was ‘Hips Don’t Lie’.

Opening your eyes, you were greeted to your very first sight of the morning, of Steve meandering around your kitchen, a whisk in one hand and a bowl in the other while he stirred pancake mix and mouthed the words of the song. His hair was sticking up in all directions and he was in a t-shirt and boxers and he was dancing.

All you could think was:

I love him so much.

You leaned against the doorway, hands in sweater pockets and amused eyes on your boyfriend.  At the chorus he turned to the pan and poured the mix, the whole time swinging his hips; it was a movement that did everything to accentuate his booty-fullness, if that was even a word. If not then Steve was the new definition. A sweater paw had to cover your mouth when he threw his head back to hit a perfect high note after he flipped the pancake.

The longer you were the audience to this one-man performance the bigger your smile became, and the bigger the realization of how in love with him you were, until you couldn't help but pad over and slide your arms around his waist.  

“Who the--? Y/N?”

“Morning, Steve.”

“H-how long have you been up?”

Somewhat reluctantly he put the spatula down and turned so he was leaning against the counter. You stepped between his legs so he wouldn't wiggle away and ran your hands down his sides.  

“Long enough to see you moving your hips like Shakira.”

His face reddened and oh my, did you love him. “I thought you were asleep. You weren't supposed to see, I was making breakfast...” A finger pointed between a vague direction of your bedroom and a pile of fresh pancakes, yet now his mouth didn't seem to want to work. It was opening and closing without any sound coming out.

“Hey,” you said softly. To get his magnificent blue eyes to meet yours you ran a hand through his hair and down the back of his neck. You loved him deeper than the cracks in your ceiling, more than morning coffee, and you thought you would burst if you kept those feelings inside. No matter that you hadn't said the words to each other yet. Right now you were so full of love for Steve Rogers that you almost didn't care if he didn't say it back.  “I love you.” 

His mouth did the thing again and with a sheepish half-smile, “Even after that show?”

You nodded, grinning. “Hips don’t lie, and yours told a story I’d like to be part of.”

“Your chapter is the best one,” he whispered, a full smile decorating his face as he brought you chest to chest. “I love you too, Y/N.”   

Both of you said it a couple more times, trying out the words that tasted so sweet on the tongue. You felt so giddy you could fly to the Smithsonian, and it was all because of the man in front of you, who you loved and who loved you.

Steve reached over and turned off the stove so the last pancakes wouldn't burn, and then said he loved you. You added them to the heaping plate, said you loved him.

Personally, you thought the pancakes wouldn't need syrup--the three words would be sweet enough.

Shakira looped again, and you burst into giggles; the song must've been playing for quite a while before you got up.  Steve quickly joined in when you asked him if this was true.

“Yeah. I’m a dork.”

“You're my dork, and I’m yours.”

“Awww.”

He pushed off the counter and took your hands to start dancing again, in which you eagerly took part. The performance definitely wasn’t as good as Shakira herself, but hey, it was early and fun. All good.

So maybe love at first sight does exist. But it doesn't have to be the moment you meet a blind date, or meet someone you’ll see at work. It doesn't even have to be the moment you lock eyes with a stranger across the room.

For you, it was at 5:45 on a sleepy Saturday morning where the very first picture of your day was Steve dancing and singing around in your kitchen. He was love at first sight. And that was much, much better.

Cancel Culture

Over the past decade social media has become a force of nature and by 2020 you could say internet is pretty much a necesity that’s treated as a privillege. Social Media has given a platform to many grea people, many influencers who actually deserve a platform, but those are a minority next to the dickheads that everyone loves to glamourize and pay attention to, in Colombia qe can’t no longer differenciate musicians-actors- influencers, now everyone is on the same mediocre pot, but worldwide there’s even bigger dickheads who still have a paltform regardless of what they deserve. Thta’s when and where Cancel Culture is born. 

What’s Cancel Culture?

You’ve heard it and seen it before, exhibit A: J Balvin was cancelled for shading Shakira on a recent Inerview. Cancel Culture appears when there’s a need to end someone’s career because they no longer should have that platform, that happens when celebrities turn out to be racist, sexist, abusive or anything above those lines. Most victims of cancel culture are influencers, many youtubers like Logan/Jake Pau, Lele Pons, James Charles and others have been cancelled and deserve it. But, do they actually get cancelled?

Is it useful?

Turns out Cancel Culture is the dumbest tactic that the internet has come up, because guess what, it does absolutely NOTHING to someone’s career. Cancelling someones is pretty much making them log off Twitter for a week, post a dumb Youtube video where they fake cry and makethe whole problem about themselves, and THEN make their fandom accept their apology when it’s not even directed at them. Cancelling someone has no actual impact on the real workld, you juyst become a social media meme and get cyberbullied by a short amount of people on the daily, that’s Cancel Culture for you. What’s funny is that many influencers do dumb stuff so they can get cancelled and then gain media attention. For example 69nine was in Jail for raping little girls and got cancelled for saying the n word, and guess what? His song (if you can even consider that mess proper music) went number 1 and was the most streamed song on Spotify last week. Other examples are Shane Dawson, who’s done blackface, racist jokes and sketches about pedophilia, yet he still is out there, being treated as “Youtube Royalty” (whatever that is) and Jefree Star, who’s been caught calling black and latin women monkeys, thieves and crackheads, has exprssed neo-nazi ideologies and of course, has said racial slurs towards latinos, natives and black people, yet he still got the best selling make up line by a Youtuber. 

Can Cancel Culure work? How?

Yes it can LMAO. It’s just that people are too dumb and narcissistic to make it work. Many users and twitter accounts tweet dums stuff and memes for it to go viral, claiming that they hate these people and stuff above those lines, only for it to go viral and get followers. 

Cancelling someone is literally boycotting a.k.a just stop buying/consuming their content, if someone is problematic in any way just stop paying attention to them, ignore theyr dumb apology videos and “progressive” posts abou the BLM movement or misstreatment of inmigrators, even here in Colombia, ALL influencers get a green light regardless of all the dumb stuff they say, only that Luisa gal has been cancelled, and she literally was cancelled for moving on with HER life (sexism, yup). Cancelling someone truly means just not giving attentions to dumb insensitive, self-albsorbed people, and instead highlighting those content creators who deserve the attention and can influence positively their public.
