“Poptropica started out as a single landmass. Then a series of cataclysmic battles between giants and monsters took place in an attempt to rule the great land. However, no clear winner emerged. Instead, the beasts’ great power caused the very land they were fighting for to crumble beneath them, triggering what became known as the Great Flood. It would be this flood that would create the islands of Poptropica as they are known today. The original Poptropicans who inhabited the landmass prior to the flood fled underground to escape the destruction, where they emerged many years later as the Mabaya. Poptropicans from distant lands then landed on their islands, who called themselves the Trinity Syndicate.

The Syndicate attempted to colonize these lands which escalated into a war between the groups, and during this war, monks set out to protect the artifacts that would allow the aforementioned history to be documented. The war ended in a Mabaya victory, enticing the Syndicate to flee back to their lands in an attempt to save their pride. But they were forced to make peace with their enemies and remain inhabitants on the islands when they learned that their own people, wretched with greed, were unwilling to take them back. Later, pirates arrived on these islands who ironically attacked the Syndicate themselves, when they were saved by a young hero.”

That's the origin of Poptropica according to Poptropica: Forgotten Islands. This backstory is told through ancient artifacts that humans created, so this is all through their perspective.

Just who exactly were these ancient "giants" and "monsters"? And why were they battling over the Earth?

Well… what if these "giants" were actually Gods, and what if these "monsters" were actually Titans?

Poptropolis Games Island is the ancient capital of Poptropica, so it can be assumed that it was the first Island.

All over Poptropolis, there are ancient Greek architecture and statues:

What if Poptropolis/Mythology Island was the original land. And then the Gods and Titans went to war!

Their fighting might be what "caused the very land they were fighting for to crumble beneath them, triggering what became known as the Great Flood. It would be this flood that would create the islands of Poptropica as they are known today."

"The war between the Titans and the Olympians forged the landscape of the mortal world. It was a war that we knew the Titans must win. If we lost, it would put an end to the golden age of the Titan rule. Peace and prosperity for mankind would be no more." - Atlas

In Greek myth, the war ended when Zeus snuck into his father's (Kronos) room while he was sleeping, and cut him apart with his own scythe. He threw his remains into Tartarus, and destroyed the scythe.

What if… a combination of the Gods and Titans fighting and breaking the Earth, along with Kronos being chopped up into little bits is what created Poptropica as we know it today?

What if back in the day, there was only ONE timeline? What if the world that Poptropolis/Mythology Island came from was the original, main timeline? And Kronos being cut up into little bits is what caused the timeline to split, creating the multiverse (Kronos is the Titan god of Time, among other things).

And what if the Gods and Titans breaking the Earth into islands was what caused the timelines that come into Poptropica to take the form of islands?

(that’s a lot of what ifs lol)

The thought of the Gods and Titans actually being the “giants and monsters” is what caused this theory to start, although if you look at the artifact depicting their battles, they don’t resemble Gods and Titans, instead looking more like giant cavepeople and dinosaurs:

So... yeah. If it weren’t for this physical evidence, I would be a bit more confident in my theory that it were actually the Gods and Titans fighting that broke apart the earth.

Now on to something else.

Poptropolis is the only in-game island to be shown to rise and sink. But unlike how it’s portrayed in the graphic novels, it doesn’t go back to it’s proper timeline. It just... sinks into the ocean.

This might be more evidence that Poptropolis/Mythology Island is the original timeline.

Maybe this also explains why Zeus was unsatisfied with only ruling Mythology Island instead of the whole planet. Because he remembered when he had the ability to rule the entire world, before the timeline slowly split.

Also, one more thing:

This is a statue showing a globe of Poptropica with different islands: S.O.S., Cryptids, Skullduggery, and Shark Tooth.

I'm going to assume that the statues on Poptropolis were either created some years later, or S.O.S., Cryptids, Skullduggery, and Shark Tooth were some of the earliest islands to come to Poptropica after the multiverse was created.

oh shit! i made a book.

remember back in september when i said i was going to learn bookbinding. well! weeks of trial and error later, i've finally finished my very first bind! as some of you might have seen in past posts, i decided to focus on my 90k zolu mermaid/mafia au the sea makes bones of bodies and now here we are!

the bind itself is a relatively simple 320 page cased-in flatback with a fabric spine and lotka paper covers and endsheets, but i decided to use it as a "test book" to learn a little bit of everything. so! it features hand-traced gold foil on the cover and spine, a hand-beaded bookmark tipped with a genuine shark tooth (iykyk), and what im calling "cookies and cream" speckled edges (lol)

ive posted some screenshots of the typeset already so i wont go too crazy, but im actually pretty happy with how it looked all put together!! i sewed my signatures together too tightly, i think, so it kind of wants to flop closed (rip) but i tried to take some pictures of how it turned out!

i have a ton of pictures of the text body itself (and fun things like the playlist page, the title pages, etc) but this post is already long enough, haha.

the absolute best, best, best part of this whole project was a huge, wonderful, amazing surprise from @fluffyartbl0g that brought the whole project together!!! they were sweet enough to send some incredible art (!!!!) that i sewed into the front and back!!!

overall, i learned so much and i took a ton of notes so i'll (hopefully) avoid some of my beginner mistakes when i do this again. i already have three more versions of the text block printed out and pressing right now! >:3c im going to keep practicing with this story for at least three more binds (because i want to get my technique down and i have some new ideas i want to try), and then switch to typsetting ocean theology and attempt a thinner 40k bind.

shoutout to renegade publishing for their wealth of technical help, and a big huge thank you to the dumbass zone for watching blurry videos of me flipping through printer paper at 3AM and just generally being so, so supportive while i learned all these new skills. you guys are the best!!

now... on to the next one!
