My thoughts on TUTS Newsies!!!

It’s a long post folks, so here you go:

First of all, holy shit was that show good

Second of all, here are my thoughts about the show, in a mildly unordered manner-

During Carrying the Banner, the top part of Crutchies crutch broke off, so he spent the rest of the song, and a bit into the next scene hobbling around with the broken crutch until he could leave stage and get it fixed (they all did such a great job ignoring it) (I also feel it’s worth mentioning it got broken when Jack used it to beat up the Delaney Brothers)

When the Newsies found out the price of papes was raised, and were trying to figure that out, Wisel kept having to deal with Newsies moving towards the paper station, then backing away, and it was funny to watch him grow more and more frustrated with them all.

During one of the songs, Davey carried Les around on his shoulders for a bit and I loved it!

MEDDA. She is an absolute powerhouse of a singer and I love her. A very Very powerful voice, that I adore and love. Plus her outfits are phenomenal. I love them.

During That’s Rich, there was a man onstage watching it, and every time the name Frank was said, it was said to him, and he had such funny reactions to it all!!

I don’t know if it was intentional, but when Kathrine went on her tangent about “Like someone said, "power tends to corrupt, and absolute power" she did a little voice, and it sounded a bit like Pulitzer, and now I headcannon Pulitzer saying that to her, and her using those words against him.

During the last few seconds of Santa Fe, as Jack is hitting that final amazing high note, the projection behind him turns from the dreary city streets to a bright and vibrant painting of Santa Fe and a sunset, and it was beautiful, but it was only there a few seconds before blackout and intermission. I loved it though.

Right before King of New York when Davey announced that they “launched the strike in a most auspicious manner” and no one cheers, there was one person who gave a little Hurrah, and that was Mr. Jacobi, who was walking offstage after dropping off the water. It had the audience laughing and I loved it.

Before the Watch What Happens reprise, when Davey asked Jack if what he is painting is Santa Fe, he says Santa Fe in a sing song voice, and he removes his hat as Jack does at the end of Santa Fe, and that was amazing to watch.

Jack, when he is painting during Watch What Happens Reprise, he puts on a red shirt over top of his undershirt. Then he leaves stage and that shirt is never seen again and I’m so confused at why it was there. I loved it, but then he was right back into the amazing blue shirt- so. Yeah.

THE FEMALE BRONX NEWSIE. We love her! I was able to track her through the show, she was in the other group Newsies numbers as well, and was doing an amazing job!

Also, Race. Let’s talk about Race. I absolutely loved him. He was so tall. Taller then everyone else (except maybe Davey, cause he was tall too, though I’m not sure as tall as Race)

In addition, I’m not sure if it was bad shadows, or intentional, but it kinda looked like Race had a black eye? Which would be in character. It’s probably my bad eyesight making it uncertain though. Also! Race’s elbows were all red after the fight. No other Newsies had as noticeable injuries.

SPOT!!! SPOT AND ROMEO WERE PLAYED BY THE SAME PERSON. They did amazing with both characters, but I spent so long staring at Spot going, wasn’t that Romeo? Until I checked the program and went, Wait, that was actually Romeo! I’m not going insane!!

THE DANCING!!!! They had different choreo from Broadway which I loved. It was wonderful, I loved it so much, and everyone did such a good job. They were doing flips all over the place, and I’m not even sure what I saw half the time, but I know it was good.

The lighting was amazing, and I loved how it was used to set the energy level for each scene!! Also, the projections were beautiful, and paired wonderfully with the amazing set, which was rearrangeable!!!

Pulitzer had a really thick accent, which wasn’t fully New York. I can’t quite place what it was, but whatever it was, it was noticeable, and that made it funnier when Jack mimicked him at one point.

At the very end of the musical, when Jack buys papes and decides to stay, Kathrine buys papes too, and goes to celebrate with the Newsies, and someone puts a newsies hat on her head, which was adorable and which I loved.

Punkflower is genuinely hilarious........Miles' baby transfem ass' reaction to her egg cracker slash best friend making a guy friend was 'I hope Hobie dies' but then when she actually meets him she's like 'Hobie's so fine i wanna die'.Hobie notices NONE of her antagonization and is instead instantly nice to her and just teases her like a normal friend to make her feel welcome but after she pulls a crazy ass stunt,this mf literally TURNS PINK like some kinda falling in love sequence comedy gag and is just ALL OVER HER nonstop and she dosen't complain?????Even once?He also hypes her up and the 1st time it happens she's too shocked to really react but the other times she's obviously loving it and the script,the actual SCRIPT says she thinks he's 'insanely hot' and she said he's EVEN COOLER under his mask as in SHE ALREADY THOUGHT HE WAS COOL AS FUCK and Hobie gives that doofus ass 'I was this cool the whole time' line and that's when you notice his voice is deeper and suaver when he talks to her than it is to other characters,he was doing it ON PURPOSE to impress her like the tboy he is,and the way i know Miles was internally giggling and kicking her feet because she loves losers

He looks at her like a lovesick puppy and i can't read the Canon Events explanation scene of Hobie being hesitant to talk about his by avoiding Miles' gaze and stumbling his words as anything but her doing the 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 face at him like someone pointed out and him getting flushed emoji in return because why the fuck would SPIDERPUNK be ashamed of killing a cop??????He just thought Miles would think badly of him because he hadn't gotten the chance to radicalize her yet.When Miles was freaking out in the Spider Dome thang,Hobie calmed her down by reminding her of a technique he showed her while calling her 'Peter Pan' i.e That she's like him,she's got every right to be a Spiderperson and she got that 'love interest enouragement snaps you back to normal' trope and HE DID THAT FLIRTY ASS SMIRK???????????????? I WAS UNIRONICALLY SCANDALIZED WHEN I WATCHED IT FOR THE FIRST TIME AND I STILL AM

AND I JUST REALIZED.HE DID THAT 3 TIMES ACTUALLY.3.3!!!!!!!! Miles got to have 2 cakes and 3 cocky ass smirks directed at her by 1 boyfriend."This movie is a love story between Miles and Gwen"This movie is a romcom between Miles and Hobie actually

back on my bullshit (meeting men im in love with). Ben Schwartz is so kind and tall :-) I didn’t totally freeze like when I met the Jonas brothers but the selfies we took are blurry so 😔

#also the show was great #I had to slap sam many times bc she was choking from laughter #ben schwartz #bro how did i forget my personal tag for ben #ben schwartz my beloved #me #also forgot me tag #editing tags after the fact to recount the entire experience #so we waited outside for about 10 minutes and I had no expectation of how long it usually takes for him to come out and take pictures #he comes out without a mask which is surprising to me and says ‘you guys wanna take some pictures?’#we all just kinda form a non sensical blob (there’s maybe like 10 ppl total) around him #Brandon Katie and Eugene hang back towards the stage door unsure if anyone wants to chat with them #I’m gushing over how tall and handsome Ben is to my sister who is ready to record our interaction once he gets to me #as I listen to him chatting with the other fans I can’t help but smile and say to my sibling ‘he’s so sweet’ every minute #he meets someone who has a cool sketchbook of the skits from the show that he wants to take a picture of #but they need to write their handle so he says he’ll talk with some others and get back to them #so he does and then later I see the girl ready to talk to him again off to the side #so I tell her ‘you can go ahead and finish talking to him”’ and she’s like ‘are you sure?’ and I’m like duh!#finally it’s my turn and he looks at me and says ‘hi I’m Ben’#yes Benjamin Joseph Schwartz I know #he sees me holding my phone and immediately sides steps to get into selfie mode as I ask him if he’ll sign my Jean Ralphio figure #he steps back to Be in front of me ‘yes of course!’#what insane media training he has #he says ‘I’ve seen this! this is the first one I’ve ever signed’#upon seeing the figure he says ‘it’s beautiful’ lol #he’s concerned that the sharpie I brought will not show up and I mention that it was probably a bad one to bring because it’s pastel #he signs and holds it up (as you can see in the first photo) to make sure it’s visible #he hands it back to me and I thank him and he says ‘do you want to take a picture?’#and I say ‘I would love to!’ and then I hold the Jean Ralphio figure and he looks to my sibling assuming she’s taking the picture #she’s like ‘no I’m just here for moral support!’

I am heavily contemplating on buying myself a dvd player soon and buying all the DVDs for a ton of movies and tv shows I grew up watching cuz I miss the magic of dvds

#hear me out on this one okay. but the Barbie movies were magic on dvd back in the day #and I do wanna see if stores are still selling the old strawberry shortcake dvds before I go online for those #I wanna snort that nostalgia so bad #and of course I’ll need to get the dcau on dvd #like all of it cuz I’m so bored with the dccu since we don’t get as much new stuff #it’s always Batman or superman and love them but I’m kinda bored from always seeing a new bman or sups movie #Wonder Woman I wouldn’t mind a new actor for her but I know she’s not gonna be a muscle mommy which I’ll be sad about #give me a Wonder Woman that is built like rhea ripely god damnit #the flash is eh cuz I found out this whole time I’ve been watching the Wally west flash #but yeah Wally is who I want and then there’s the green lantern like dude is so cool iams all we have is the 1 from 2011 I think #sure I could watch some of the tv series they have but I have too many shows on my watch list it’s overwhelming at times so I skip over lots #tho I will have to pray like crazy cuz some of the things I know I want are probably gonna be expensive as fuck even as second hand #saw a class of the titans season 1 dvd going for $81 cad 💀💀💀#the world is not kind to those who don’t love the digital age #I prefers my dvds cuz I own it and no one can take it away from me unless they physically steal it #omg I’m turning into my grandma cuz she still had the vhs player with some tapes too #just wish she never donated the tapes for swan princess 1-3 and Anastasia and ferngully and basically all my faves that she owned #like Ngl a part of me wants to hit up value village just to see if maybe they’re still there or if I’ll find other copies of the same things #cuz a perk about cities with older people is that you get so much older tech and other items it’s insane

#me knowing I’m going to be in america within the next 24 hours: 👀👀👀#sly tbh #this has to be one of my fave concert trends it’s so funny every time #and when the america tour has them all going DEAD QUIET for it #god this concert was so fucking good #sign of the times changed me as a person that song has meant the world to me since its release and hearing it live actually killed me #also he tricked us into thinking the show was done like fully some people started leaving and everything but he hadn’t done kiwi yet #which is one of my all time fave harry styles songs so I was like NO he HAS to do it #but kinda convinved myself it was done and he wasn’t going to AND THEN HE DID #so the vid of kiwi starting has me actually going feral it’s so funny #me and my mate have been going through our vids and she was just like ‘we’re very… enthusiastic’ bc it’s just us BELTING in each of them #it was sooooo good like sam fender was amazing bc it was sam fender and he’s one of my all time faves #but harry was good bc the stadium was insane and the atmosphere was great #and also I was seated for sam and standing for harry and being able to dance and be in the crowd makes SUCH a difference #ugh it was just so so cool i had such a blast. wembley got shut the fuck down tho it took us over an hour just to get to the tube #for context it’s supposed to be a 2 min walk like it’s WITHIN SIGHT of the stadium but there was literally thousands of us #insanity I loved it all. t-minus 5 hours before I get up for my 11 hour flight to america 🫶🏼 life is good atm fr fr #rwbt 2.0

you go from a menace that does as they pleases, terrifying local villages and making a name for yourself, to a glorified pet of all things.

the tsaritsa and darling just picking you up while in the middle of no where like your a stray 😭

you try to cause problems and get them to think your too much work but they just think your escape attempts are cute. the other acolytes do not.

you are constantly causing problems for them n bullying them but they can't do anything bc your favored by Darling.

also reader constantly trying to bite darling + the tsaritsa when their being affectionate but they just think your play biting bc its like being stabbed by a wet noodle. keep doing it long enough and they'll start biting back though. gonna walk out looking like you just got mauled

also darling only letting you feed from them or the tsaritsa. they say it's bc you deserve only the best of the best, but your 99% sure it's because their blood, and the tsaritsa's to a lesser extent, makes you drowsy and docile. it's addicting too.

you managed to run away a total of once, and the moment you tried to drink any blood other then theirs, it made you sick.

so now you just angrily seethe in darlings palace while they coo about how cute it is when you pout. everything you do is cute to them. biting?? just play bites. your fangs aren't even strong enough to break their skin, and theirs are so much bigger then yours. they just find it adorable. most of all they find your blood drunken state directly after feeding adorable too. they get to pamper you and be as affectionate as they please without you biting and twisting about. if you drink darlings blood, doubly so, as you seek out affection. nuzzling into their palms and being so sweet for them..

I dunno why everyone says they hate grooming and hand stripping dogs. I find it so soothing. I would probably go for hours if Arthur didn't let me know he was done with it.

#I wanna say we probably go 30 minutes max usually? For maintenance grooming #When he goes to his breeder to get full groomed he's on the table for like 3 hours #I kinda think having a Poodle could be fun one day for the fun haircuts I could do #I'm not that brave with actually clipping BUT I would be if it wasn't a show dog lol #Like I do love clipping off Haley's feathers. Which I do now because she's an old lady who does not need that excessive hair #Haley gets really really floofy ... makes me wonder what her parents' coats were like. I'm thinking the Sheltie genes are probably why #My mom wants me to try shaving Leia down. Haha. We'll see about that. She is so so wiggly and hyper. Her #groomer has a special way with her #Leia's groomer is a hardcore flyball trainer/competitor so she is used to insane dogs lol #I think it's funny that she grooms all the floofy suburban pet dogs in the neighbourhood while she personally owns Mals and BorderWhippets #ANYWAY I think dog grooming would be a great career for me if I can get the chronic pain under control #I want to at least become an Expert ECS groomer over the next decade lol #Grooming could maybe be a side gig one day if I can get good enough and figure out how to get training #I'm legit considering the idea that the best job situation for me might end up being multiple 'side gigs'

the eclipse is so good they were like lets allude to everything that’s gonna happen in the rest of the show in such tiny details that seemingly dont mean anything and you wont get it at all until you do.

they told us so much in the first ep they told us about the cult (chadok saying "faith") they told us about chadok and dika (mr. sit telling ayan "they were on good terms for a while. then, he suddenly quit.") they told us about akk and the curse. they told us about thua (kan saying "you should have just said it nicely" & him replying "you wouldn't listen"). it’s so interesting honestly how it set up everyone to have such consistent characterization but framed it & everyone as a mystery to puzzle out. bc thats what you do even if the focus is on akk and aye. youre wondering about everything else without really paying attention to it.

like even waree for example - her conversation with sani in ep1 leaves you thinking ooh does she know something about the curse? - but she knows nothing. she shuts down sani’s questioning because that’s the best way to stay safe in this school, she tells her “if you want to work here for long, don’t get involved in anything that isn’t your business.”

so i actually think it’s possible she’s just as afraid of the idea of the curse as anyone else, and it simply pairs with her rigidness and the need for control over her classroom. and control over the school such as in ep 10 with the way she’s willing to put the needs of the world remembers beneath the needs of the school as a whole. she's very rattled in that scene.

...but then at the same time, in ep4 she says “actually, i don’t want to punish ayan that badly”, which i always thought was an interesting comment, since she was the one who started it. it isn't until late episode 12, after the curse has been exposed, chadok has quit, and the school rules are being adjusted, that she invites ayan to share history articles with her. (tbh i think a part of her has always been a little pleased that he took her subject so seriously.) like...she’s still the same scary teacher - she snaps at the class to finish their exams in the next second, but still, at the end, she begins to show an openness to her students that wasn’t there before, that was stifled by the overhanging threat of the curse (which in actuality was a mixture of fear, oppression, and societal expectations) just as much as everything/everyone else.
