late for dinner.
summary.
sakura knew that he was an uchiha as soon as she saw him. dark eyes, ivory skin made of steel.
unlike sasuke or itachi, though, his hair is not sleek in texture, but comes in wisps and curls that frame his face, his gentle, black irises creasing whenever he smiles.
she would know that, because he is smiling at her.
preview.
sakura groans, “you're messing with me again, aren't you?”
“you make it too easy.”
sakura presses her lips - and admittedly, her thighs - together. she will not fall apart in front of this man. she will not -
“I think itachi might be a while, doll. care to join me for a bite?”
sakura's stomach growls, giving away its emptiness. she sighs as she is caught. she'd be stupid to deny the invitation. “yeah, I could eat, I guess.” and don't think she missed him call her ‘doll’ twice - “ichiraku is just down the road?”
what are you doing? she screams to herself. you know it takes no time for mission assignments! and it's kakashi-sensei! he always goes straight to the point!
“alright! let's go.”
but maybe he knows that.

🌸 MORE WIPS! 🌸
🍡🍡🍡
So This is Love (ItaSaku):
“He can’t protect you in this state,” he pointed out and despite the weight in her chest screaming she needed to have more faith in Itachi than that, Sakura shook her head wearily, agreeing with him. “He can’t protect himself.”
It wasn’t like he could take a leave of absence either. Not solely down to Danzo’s firm grip of him, but because of Itachi’s inability to step away from Hidan. Taking him down was personal to him.
“Are you in any pain?” She shook her head again since it really wasn’t all that bad when everything else was piling on top of her, prompting him to hum thoughtfully. “You have a high pain tolerance, then.”
“I guess?” Sakura mumbled and like the acknowledgement was a door opening, she took a couple of moments to recall the injuries she’d sustained in her life. Even the attack on the flower store hadn’t kept her down for long and in weeks, even after being stabbed, she was training with Gai and Lee. "I’ve never really given it much thought.”
He merely nodded and assessed her stance once more, taking particular interest in her feet and legs until Sakura realised it was the ease in her movements that captured his attention. “Once you are fully recovered, we will begin training.”
The way the words were spoken sounded more like Gaara was sentencing her – that sense of sickening foreboding only increased when he placed his porcelain mask back on. It stared at her eerily, the dried splatters of blood that stained its snarling racoon-like features evoking a shudder.
“Thank you,” she replied earnestly. “I really appreciate it.”
But Gaara’s reply was quiet and weary, knocking that daunting aura up a notch. “You shouldn’t.”

Addicted to You (GaaSaku & ItaSaku):
“Maybe next time, love,” she chuckled and pressed a hand to his chest. He was gentle while grasping it to aid Sakura in sitting upright. “I’m afraid this really is just a business trip.”
There was no mistaking the hope that was rekindling in Itachi’s brightening body language, but she felt no urgency to squash it anytime soon. Partly due to it opening him up to further manipulation and her agenda, but also… It oddly filled her with relief to have that horrid image of his exhausted, pained features gradually overwritten by the expression he now sported.
It must have been visible on her features, for Itachi offered a small smile and leaned closer to kiss her forehead sweetly, gently telling her, “We are not unsalvageable or beyond hope.”
“Itachi…”
He was well and truly back on his game. Proved as much by cutting her off with a simple, confident, “I will assist you in rescuing Obito.”
Green eyes narrowed. “The price?”

Ghost Inside My Chest (ItaSaku):
“What’s this?” came Shisui’s infuriating teasing voice. “Are you crushing on Itachi, Sakura?”
“Don’t be ridiculous!”
“You’re blushing.”
It was an impulsive reaction to swing for him but as she should have expected, Shisui was effortless in dodging. He chuckled cheerfully while hip tossing her to the ground, coming to stand over her with that same amused expression. All she could do was glare up at him, the raging of her cheeks now reaching all the way down to her chest.
“Little Sakura-chan has a crush on Itachi,” he continued to tease mercilessly, crouching before her with his elbows coming to rest on his knees. “How cute.”

Come Undone (ItaSaku & minor KakaSaku)
“We’re not kids anymore,” was all Kakashi offered, shrugging.
There was that look again, Sakura realised with a pang that shot through her stomach rather than her heart. It provoked those dreaded butterflies into fluttering away once more, stirring up feelings that she truly didn’t want to face anytime soon.
“My question still stands,” she pointed out, quieter than before. “What’s the big deal?”
Sakura knew the lowered tone affected him from the way Kakashi cleared his throat and ducked his head, and part of her felt excited by the response. A type of excitement she had never experienced before, one that filled her with warmth, not all that dissimilar to–
The blush from catching Shizune and Genma in the act had nothing on her new one.
Viewing Kakashi in such a light wasn’t exactly a novelty experience. She knew she was attracted to him on some level. On several occasions, she experienced those damned butterflies that had her growing uncharacteristically nervous around him; the catching of their gazes when they thought the other wasn’t looking causing her heart to palpitate and cheeks to heat up.
But…
“I’ve seen how badly love can screw a person up,” Sakura repeated the words that circulated her mind whenever she admitted to said attraction. “I don’t want to be hurt like that.”
“You think I do?” questioned Kakashi, snorting. “Obito’s been obsessed with Rin for most of his life and look where it’s got him – worst part of it all is that she doesn’t even love him back.”
Not that Rin was required to fall in love with Obito simply because he saved her life or showered her in acts of kindness or friendship. Sakura also knew that Obito believed that too, hence why he never really pushed his feelings onto her and chose to suffer in silence with his unrequited love.
“…That doesn’t mean we can’t explore those types of relationships, though.”
Breathing had never been such a difficult task, and Sakura’s stomach twisted – but in a good way. A weirdly pleasurable way that had her shifting and fidgeting. He wasn’t unaffected either, the tips of his ears and exposed cheek that poked out from beneath his mask all stained pink.
“It doesn’t,” she allowed.
Taking that as a sign of encouragement, he stepped closer. “Am I right in assuming we both trust one another more than anyone else?”
Without a doubt. “You know we do.”
“We could see what the big deal is together,” Kakashi suggested and Sakura damned her stupid hormones for reacting to the lowered tone of his voice.
“Right now?”

Red String of Fate (ItaSaku & SasuSaku):
“E-Everyone–”
“Scattered,” he admitted, sighing. “The police are on their way.”
That did absolute wonders for her anxiety and Sakura lunged forward only to be gently pressed back against the wall again, her yell of Naruto’s name pitiful and full of concern.
“He’s fine,” Itachi assured her. “Deidara-san and Sasori-san got both Naruto-kun and Sasuke out of there.”
Sasuke.
“…I promised Sasuke that I would find you. It was the only way to get him out of there before he really lost himself.”
Holy shit. How badly had the brawl triggered her boyfriend’s rage? How badly had she triggered him by completely disregarding how he was feeling and charging in after Naruto?
“Sasuke wanted to be the one to get you out,” Itachi added softly, reassuringly. “However, Naruto-kun had other plans–”
No.
“–and the two ended up fighting.”
No.
Did he know the truth about...?
🌸🌸🌸
Dying Embers (ShiSaku, ItaSaku & SasuSaku):
Much to the amusement of others but to the annoyance of himself (leading Shisui to believe with a bout of horror that he was becoming as cynical as the elders of his clan, who’d always found a fault or something to complain about in everything that crossed their paths), the two siblings continued to bicker for several long minutes – much too long for his liking. It held them up in their departure, which was chosen at a specific time to prevent the risk of being seen or having their presence in Suna getting back to Danzo. They couldn’t screw around, but they were.
A gentle hand brushing against his was shockingly enough for Shisui’s attention to be diverted as it zeroed in on Sakura’s patient features. She wasn’t even looking at him rather keeping her gaze forward, but the minute tremble of those fingers told him that she was feeling anxious too. That warm hand reminded him of the woman who’d comforted him many times while acting as his caregiver and friend.
Rolling his shoulders back and grinning, Naruto declared, “So, Gaara! When do you think we should have our rematch–”
A resigned sigh wasn’t what interrupted the blond with a pout – it was the back of Itachi’s knuckles coming down on his head with a firm warning of shut up already.
Shisui smirked.
“We went over formations for the travel, correct?” the Uchiha heir questioned blandly.
“Y-Yeah, I guess–”
“So get into position already.”
