I am 100% sure the actor Leo could play all Silmarillion movie on his own.
To prove it I made a collage from his last movie.

If there was a Silmarillion movie, it would be nice that everyone speaks quena (even the narrator) and when they go to Beleriand they keep talking quenya until Thingol bans it so they start talking sindarin for the rest of the movies

some lotr doodles! here's Boromir, Legolas, Gimli, and Aragorn. I've been rereading the trilogy and it's fun getting to visualize the characters on paper!

You know how in Lord of the Rings and Narnia and other films shot in New Zealand, the scenery looks like it’s got a big sparkly filter added over it in editing? Yeah well went to a river yesterday and it actually just looks like that

You know:
Tauriel would have been so much more interesting if they just went with the direction of her being a feanorian, specifically Maglor’s grandkid.
Like, Thranduil not wanting her to marry Legolas would make so much more sense without having to make Thranduil look classist. It would make a weird juxtaposition of “thranduil will never harm another elf and has taken in even an elf descendant of the elves who massacred doriath” and “thranduil absolutely does not want the noldor, specifically the feanorians, to tangle with his family”
Also!!!
It would add such a layer of flavor of kili and tauriel, a dwarf and a feanorian, coming together to defend their home against enemies that want to steal the treasure. It would be an equal and opposite mirror image of Doriath.
It would also just generally add to the lore of what happened to maglor, as well as the silvans and sindar of mirkwood either knowing of and coming to terms with sharing the space of a kinslayer OR thranduil hides tauriel’s heritage so only they (and maybe Legolas) knows about it and just having angst and existential crisises form from that.
I think the thing that pissed me off about Tauriel is that she could have been SO MUCH MORE, SO MUCH MORE SMOOTHLY INTEGRATED INTO THE PLOT TO GIVE IT MORE DIMENSION but instead she’s so blatantly a self insert character whose only saving grace is that she’s a “strong female character”.
Like, they wanted a love story for the views and they wanted legolas back so they just went “what if legolas is in love with an elf who in turn loves a dwarf” and that’s all the thought that went into it.
Lastly, by making Tauriel feanorian, they would have created an avenue to produce a silmarillion live action bc it would have sparked interest on what the big deal about who/what the feanorians even are.
This is my opinion. You’re free to your own, just don’t come at me with it.

(Lúthien Tinúviel art by Ted Nasmith)
Lúthien Tinúviel Propaganda:
powers of song & dance so enchanting that she charmed evil incarnate into slumber and convinced the god of death to resurrect her husband. most beautiful of all elves ever and wore a necklace set with one of the three most brilliant gems in existence.

sauron tricking/seducing celebrimbor is so fucking funny to me.
imagine you have this guy who's like the CEO of middle earth's largest tech company. graduated magna cum laude in MEIT (Middle Earth Institute of Technology). very gifted in the ways of forgery and invention.
then this (handsome) motherfucker shows up in the lobby one day calling himself "Annatar the Giver of Gifts" promising all sorts of riches if you listen to his wiles.
Elrond and Gil-Galad were like "um...no solicitors" but Celebrimbor is like "hmm sounds legit" and completely gets sucked into this fucking ring-making cult

the ideal and frankly only acceptable screen adaptation of The Silmarillion would be a Fantasia-style film with no dialogue, just art and music. Not only would it effectively communicate the sense of a world created from music, and animation could express the epic scale and magic in a way live action would fail at, but it also would capture the characterization-light mythological feel of the whole story. The Silmarillion is SUPPOSED to be a flexible canon! I don’t WANT details of characters and events standardized by some popular tv show or movie! But the amount communicated in, say, a 10-minute animated sequence set to orchestra music, with eloquent character expressions but no dialogue, depicting, say, the entire story of the Fall of Gondolin? And the same for all the other major stories Ainulindalë through Elwing&Eärendil? PLEASE.

You are in Rivendell and somehow your laptop works? Oc insert time everybody!
Possible reactions of your new elven friends to seeing the Lord of the Rings movies:
A) they of course understand all of the elven lyrics and therefore have several times stronger emotional reactions to the movie
(sobbing elves left and right)
B) they pronounce quenya differently so they are dying of laughter in serious scenes like for example dying Haldir
(you were afraid they would cringe...you forgot they were elves)
C) they never saw a moving picture so they are unable to tell it from reality which ends in all of them running around screaming about Sauron being back.
(Elrond is not happy with you.)
D) they cannot get over the fact every historical detail is kinda tweaked and refuse to watch anything after first ten minutes
(They are horrified this is being shown to children without proper education)
E) they see it all, consider it great and ask for more. To which you promptly pull out your WD disc and promptly turn Hall of Fire into cinema.
F) after few first fighting scenes they start wildly discussing if the shown fighting strategies are correct and maybe would have been better to use or are complete bullshit.
You dont get far in the story but its fun.
G) you kiiiiinda forgot they were all in some point in a war conflict....therefore everyone has a huge PTSD attack
(congratulations, they hate movies now...you wish you had started with Love Actually)
H) nobody sees anything....elven immortal eyes are too fast to see anything else than an awkward slideshow of pictures and they all get a migraine

Me, openly weeping: Do you ever think about how Khamûl is the only one of the Nazgûl to be openly named? How he fought beside his people one last time before his destruction? And do you ever wonder if he was even aware of his connection to them? If they knew who he was? Or if how he’s remembered in Easterling legends? Do they know what became of him? Does he remember his life and his motivation for the power that ultimately corrupted him? And after the ring had been destroyed, do you ever think about what his last moments were like? With the object of his desire gone, did he realize the extent of his actions? Did he regret the choices he’d made, or had his humanity been eaten away entirely?
My therapist: …don’t you want to talk about your parents or something?
