You convinced Sanemi to explore an abandoned building with you

A/N: idk why but I found this idea really funny and couldn’t resist writing it — so enjoy Sanemi getting scared lol

Convincing Sanemi to go exploring with you had been a far easier task than you imagined. Ever the risk taker, you had been dying to explore an abandoned factory on the outskirts of your college town. You’d heard countless stories from your peers and figured you needed to experience it for yourself. When you had gone to your boyfriend with your plans, he had one simple thing to ask you.

“What the fuck is wrong with you?”

You had deflated a bit, though you had expected him to not want to accompany you. So, after some back and forth, a couple of “puppy eyed” pouts and the resolve that you’d simply go by yourself… Sanemi found himself walking up an overgrown path with a flashlight in his hand. “Why couldn’t we do this during the day again?” He pushed a branch out of the way, ducking just as it snapped back into place.

“Cause it’s not as fun when you go during daytime.” He turned to look at you, face morphed into one of disbelief. “Fun.” Was all he could muster, watching as you pointed your own flashlight towards the broken windows of the massive building. Not only was it far out, it was surrounded by a large forest. Which only made the entire thing sketchier. “I wanna get to the roof. I heard the view is amazing.”

“Yeah, when you can actually see what the fuck is around here.” He grimaced as he counted the floors, six stories all together to make it up to that roof. You truly must have lost your mind… then again he wouldn’t have been able to sleep knowing you went out here by yourself. “You’ll be able to see the city, that’s more than enough!” Sanemi’s flashlight brought attention to some…interesting… graffiti. “Yeah… sure.”

This was your typical bummy hangout for people with nothing better to do. Never mind having to worry about the ghosts people claimed lived here… Sanemi was more concerned about fending off squatters and crackheads. You, however, we’re practically euphoric as you found a broken window with enough space to crawl through.

“Perfect! The main entrance is chained up because this place got condemned.” You’re already pushing yourself head first as Sanemi choked “Condemned?! This place got condemned and you want to climb six stories to the fucking roof?” But you had already disappeared inside, he’d be damned if he stayed out here by himself, the snap of a twig off in the distance was enough to have him clamouring through after you.

The inside of the factory was exactly what he expected, nothing but decaying concrete that made it very easy to understand why the place had shut down. Alongside that there was overgrowth from outside, animal droppings and more graffiti. There was also the broken class that he kept having you maneuver you around since you were far too engulfed in finding the staircase that would bring you up.

“Where the hell is it?” You huffed after ten minutes of searching the first floor, seemingly not bothered by the unsettling quiet. The kind of quiet that had Sanemi looking over his shoulder every few seconds, standing just a step behind you in order to keep you in his field of vision while he surveyed for anything that could harm you. “No idea but let’s take it as a sign to fucking go.” The stale air was starting to make his skin crawl.

“Here it is!” Your voice bounced off the walls, going in every direction as Sanemi groaned. “Well, if anyone was waiting to kill us, they know where we are now.” You scoffed, pushing the rusted metal doors open and cringing as they screeched. “Nice… now anyone in a fucking two mile radius knows where we are.” You rolled your eyes, shining your flashlight up the staircase.

“Stop being dramatic, it’s not like we’re in a horror movie.”

“Famous last words. Now we’re gonna die.”

“You really think some serial killer is hanging out around this abandoned factory? He’d have a slow ass job considering we’re probably the first two to be here in a couple weeks.”

You chuckled softly as you began taking the stairs, they were solid concrete so you hoped they’d be stable enough to get you where you wanted to go. “We’ll be his lucky break.” You turned around to shine your flashlight on him. “Took you a second to come up with that one, huh?” A quick “shut up” promptly followed.

Six flights of stairs later and you had only made it to the third floor. “Halfway! I wanna check this floor out though.” Sanemi stopped mid-step. “What could you possibly need to look for on this floor? Crack needles? Squirrel shit? More concrete?” You snorted as you pushed the rusty door open, using your flashlight to survey the area. “As much as I’d love to find some crack needles, I wanted to see the view since I noticed all the windows were completely broken on this floor.”

As if to prove your point, a cool gust of air ruffled his hair. For a moment, he didn’t feel the need to complain, especially when the stale air was no longer clinging to his skin. “Only you would find interest in that.” He moved past you, never in his life had he actually desired fresh air, crossing the space in long strides and practically sticking his whole head out of what used to be a window. “Me? Look at you!” You moved to enter the room, stopping when you heard faint footsteps.

“Sanemi…” you shine your light around the area, almost positive the footsteps were coming from the floor below. But it never hurts to make sure. “Yeah?” He pulled himself back inside, heart thumping wildly when he saw the look on your face. “I…I swear I heard footsteps.” Sanemi blinked, “I swear to god if you’re making fun of me…” but then he heard them too. “Oh…fuck you why did you make us come here! I told you!”

You couldn’t help but laugh, despite your own fear. “I thought you came along to protect me?” Your laughter continued quietly as you moved back out of the room and towards the staircase. If anyone was actually in the building, you’d hear them better from out there. “I did but you caught me off guard.” Sanemi was whispering now, crossing the room once more in long strides to keep you close.

You were both silent, waiting quietly in order to listen. “We’re not getting to that roof.” He mumbled softly, clicking off his flashlight a moment later. “Fine, but you’ll take me back here during the day to see the view…” you turned your light off as well, it would be much easier to locate you both if you had flashlights on, as if asking them to come get you. “…deal.”

You weren't exactly sure how long you had both sat there in silence, waiting to hear footsteps that would probably never come. “Should we…make our way back down?” You clicked your flashlight on, looking at Sanemi as you did. “Might as well…” He seemed hesitant, which made you laugh again. “My nearly six foot tall, beefcake of a boyfriend is scared.” That seemed to snap him back into reality.

“I’ll use you as bait.”

“Wow! I see how it is… ya know what…”

Your fear had fizzled away, “I’m gonna go to the roof.” before Sanemi could fight you on it, you took off up the next flight of stairs. “W-wait! What the fuck!?” But you were already gone, feet echoing as you rounded to the next flight. It only took a second but Sanemi was running up after you. “Besides!” You called out, your voice echoing all around you. “If someone really is in here, we can just toss them off the roof!”

“Oh yeah… a fool proof plan.” Sarcasm clung to every word as he chased you, the only way he could see you was the light of your flashlight bouncing around ahead of him. An additional six flights of stairs later you were walking straight out to the roof. “Oh wow!” You couldn’t believe the view, it was even better than what people described. “Y-you’re insane.” He huffed as he finally stood beside you.

“Yet, you still followed me up here.”

“You’re lucky it’s because I love you.”

“Aweee…”

You laughed, hooking your arm in his. “At least we’ll die together if those footsteps weren’t an animal.” Sanemi rolled his eyes, not willing to admit that the view was actually worth the initial terror. Though he still stood by the fact that it would be much better in the daylight. “I guess that’s true.” He pulled you closer, resting his cheek on the top of your head.

You stood in silence for a bit, admiring the scenery before you. “I’m not doing this again though.” You laughed, unable to contain yourself at his continued stubbornness. “You said we could come back in the daytime.” Sanemi snorted, “yeah that was before you took off.” Fair enough, though you knew he’d come along anyways if you said you were going.

“Now… let’s just hope your tires aren’t slashed when we get back.”

Hello, sorry I just need someone to voice my op to since none of my circles read or watch OnK :'(

It's so weird to me how Akane's fans interpret that scene when the girls are filming an MV as Akane only having good intention and care for Kana, 'cuz imo even if there is, what she said was still one of her attemps to get Aqua to stay with her. Look at how things played out to her: her business bf wanted to break up, he even straight up refused sex when she offered, and now she found out that right after that he took Kana on to a proper date, Akane's chances were close to zero. She was grasping at straws when she said that and played it under the guise of being considerate about Kana's safety, just like how she said she's okay with breaking up with him yet cried - showing that she wanted the opposite. Because if she only cared about Kana's safety, then what's with the side comment about how actors have it easier? It's like she was saying "Choose me, I'm the safer choice!". I'm not saying Akane didn't have good intention, but it's more like a two bird one stone typa thing where she wanted Kana to be safe and Aqua to continue with dating her (her own selfish want). It was kinda a dirty move from Akane, consider how she knows very well what happened to Ai and how much that'll affects Aqua. Akane always strike me as a good in nature yet also self-absorbed character: She decided what's best for both Kana and Aqua that also benefits her selfish wants regardless of how the other two would feel (& we all know how miserable both Aqua and Kana was during that ghosting period); She decided what to do to Aqua's father without thinking about how he might feel (again); The signs were as early as the LoveNow arc where she tweeted the apology thinking it was the right solution without consulting with her manager first because she thought she knew what was best for her to do in that situation. Even her acting method also kinda reflect this, where if the character's portrayal clashes between her and the director/scriptwriter, she already has a concrete image of the character from her own interpretation and thus has difficulty compromising and adjusting with the production team.

I might even take a wild guess that she was in love (obsessed) with the idea of saving prince charming rather than Aqua himself because to her, their story literally went/was gonna go like the old classic story of prince charming saving the girl -> the girl learns about the prince's past, decides to help him to repay him saving her -> prince charming defeats the bad guy (his dad in this story) with the girl's help -> happily ever after. Akane being a teen + Aqua saved her + it's her first dating experience caused her to have an idealistic view of dating and probably why she tolerated Aqua dating her despite having his eyes on Kana for he did act like the perfect bf on the surface, and that to her was enough to fulfil her prince charming fantasy. Akane is, actually, not that mature in her relationship with Aqua like how her fan keep praising her for, tbh imo it's more akin to what teens think "being mature" is. I know this is one of the appeal of her ship with Aqua, even though some might deny it. As oppose to Kana who might be a potential obstacle to Aqua's revenge whether good or bad, Akane is narratively there as a bonus reward for Aqua after finishing the main quest of avenging his mom if the ship ever be canon again. Akane and Aqua have unfortunately became perfect self-inserts for those who are into revenge and/or trophy girl fantasy (nothing bad about this itself tho). But perhaps because of looking into those fantasy fulfilment rather than the actual context of the manga/anime, they accuse Kana of not understanding the "real" Aqua (I have alot to say about this, maybe 3 paragraphs at least lol) or how she's useless for not helping him kill a person and ignore the entire other half chunk of the story about showbiz problems, where Kana's own story entangle more.

P/s: My wild guess no.2, rather than being a damsel in distress (being Kamiki's target) for Aqua to come rescue, Kana already has a close relationship with Kamiki prior to reuniting with the twins (maybe a mentor-student relationship?). I've always find it weird how Aka just glossed over Kana's past, like he's holding back important info regarding her past that he can't show the readers too soon. So that's why I have this guess. This explains why Aka's been keeping her out of the revenge plot for so long + better than Kana just being a damsel in distress + raises the stakes for Kana (will she choses the mentor who helped her through her dark days being abused by her mom or the twins who she can see the light and bright future in?) + makes Kana a key player in the revenge plot.

Hey Anon! I'm happy to talk to you about some OnK Character Analyses anytime. Sorry to have taken so long to respond, I really wanted to sit down with your question. I've been thinking about this a lot. And I'm afraid my response might be even longer than your ask hahaha!

I want to summarize your main points for everybody else, so that we're all on the same page:

Akane was manipulative when she reminded Aqua that Kana was an idol, and pushed him to choosing her.

Akane wants to reverse the damsel-in-distress and Prince Charming trope, and decides on behalf of others.

Akane fans accuse Kana for not knowing the "real" Aqua

(Bonus) There's a possibility that Kana already knew Hikaru Kamiki.

So, my responses:

#1 Was Akane being manipulative in Ch. 76?

Well, yes. And no.

I actually had a short discussion (argument?) with Skania (who I will not tag for the sake of their mental health, but mentioning here to credit them.) about this very topic. (And I want to thank them for their time and also apologize to have annoyed them!) We have really different interpretations and disagree each other on this part.

To get the fast answer out of the way: Yes, I believe Akane was wholly aware of what she was saying.

She already knew from the Tokyo Blade arc how badly Aqua can get triggered on the topic of Ai's death.

Put it this way: imagine being a teenage girl who was depressed or bullied, and the boy who saved your life started dating you but admits that it isn't because he likes you that way. You start offering him sex if that would fulfill his wants in a relationship, but he tells you that your relationship is about to end soon. You find out from another girl that they went on a date--shopping for suitcases and Brazilian barbecue--a kind of date he never did for you. Then when he invited you to go on a trip, most of what he did was walk you around his hometown to look for something else, and then watch this other girl be really cute in a dress he was stunned by.

Akane is allowed to be a teenager who would want to nudge her boyfriend to stay with her and away from his other crush.

Akane fans like to argue that she was being completely selfless, and was just looking out for Kana's safety too.

I really dislike this reading of Akane's character, because it strips her of agency. Of course she has personal goals, wants, and flaws. She's allowed to be a teenage girl who wanted her love to be reciprocated. She's allowed to be a teenage girl who gets a little jealous, and try as she might to be professional and civil because all of these people are her work colleagues too, she still does things that fulfill her goals. She is allowed to be self-interested, and act on opportunities that align with those self interests.

I also think that if Akane's fans want to believe in her intellect and her masterful ability in understanding people's psychology and detective work, then it stands to reason that they should also believe that Akane was deliberately aware of the effect of what she said to Aqua. She doesn't always make 100% correct bets, but it's reasonable to conclude she made this bet hoping that it could get him to stay.

Akane and everyone else is already aware that Kana is actually not a person who needs scolding on the dangers of being under public scrutiny:

Under any normal circumstance, if Akane simply cared for Kana's safety, she would have simply responded to Kana when she was bragging about the date. Like, "hey be careful about dating in public spaces okay? I dont want you getting in trouble." Or, if she would talk to Aqua about it, she might say, "Please remember to book a private room next time you eat in a restaurant."

But no. If Akane would remind them of safety tips of dating as public figures, it would just lead them to the advice to do Home Dates:

And she doesn't want that now, does she?

She didn't say something as straightforward as that, and neither did the author write it in a more neutral tone. It was deliberately written with Akane implying that if he didn't want Kana killed, he should just date a fellow actor. (Preferably one that the public is actually cheering on to be together, because they were already in a Love Team due to the show.)

I just don't like ignoring what the Author and the Illustrator clearly put on the page for me to absorb the way that it was. I think pretending she was being wholly selfless is an insult to the writers.

#2 Is Akane motivated by the want to Save Prince Charming?

This is the "and no" part of my answer.

When I think of Akane, I don't think of an outright evil person who manipulated Aqua into doing things, wanting to be a hero for that reason. And just like how Tokyo Blade serves as a parallel for the show, it in turn informs us that it is an incorrect interpretation of Saya-hime (or Akane) to think that she outright wants the violence herself.

This part I agree with Skania on: Akane's main flaw is her low self-esteem.

Akane doesn't personally believe that she is inherently worth any value, and any value that she holds is attributed to her hard work.

People have taken notice to the fact that, unlike Kana's experience of abuse and abandonment, Akane had a really good support system behind her when her suicide attempt happened during the LoveNow arc. She had a loving mother and a really kind-hearted manager that believed in her. Yet she clung onto the validation from the agency President more. She ascribes her personal value to the approval of other people, especially positive feedback from her superiors in the industry, her theater troupe calling her a genius, her fans applauding her.

And, on the opposite side of the same coin, she has immense Rejection Sensitivity that makes her extremely defensive when she received cyberbullying, leading her to want to make a public apology right away and appease people.

This leads Akane to be an extremely hardworking person, but also seeking validation and direction from other people (like the LoveNow crew), unable to voice out her views unless it is supported by an authority figure (like when she wanted something changed in Tokyo Blade), and also why when meeting her personal hero and idol Arima Kana in person, when Kana lashed out at her, instead of simply thinking, "okay she's a terrible person, I'm done with being her fan forever", she rejected that idea and went on to study Psychology in the hopes of understanding people like Kana.

All of this manifests in her relationship with Aqua being okay with receiving bare minimum from him, not complaining when she realizes he has feelings for someone else, and also doing anything and everything for him, whatever he needs whether he asks for it or not.

I'll go a little further into my interpretation of her (which I know Akane fans might be resistant to or disagree with, but I hope you stick with me here.)

I also think Akane has a co-dependency on Aqua, and herself has Inverted Narcissism, with Covert and Cerebral Subtypes.

I agree! I sound nuts! This interpretation is crazytown.

Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) has several subtypes, including Inverted Narcissism, which is a subtype where the person craves the co-dependency on another narcissist. They are self-sacrificing to their primary narcissist, feel they are not entitled to anything, but seem emotionally level-headed and highly attuned to the primary narcissist's needs but not much empathy for anybody else.

Because of how little they think of themselves, it gives them a feeling of power and control to be with a person who believes himself to be so special, to have a crucial mission whose victory she can partake in. In a sense, Aqua was someone Akane looked up to so much for having saved her from her suicide attempt, and for turning the public's view of her from negative to overwhelmingly popular.

Akane definitely thought, "I want to be useful to him! I want to make him happy!"

And this man had his own amazing detective mission going on in his mind and trauma to solve. And so Akane thinks, "Let me solve that for you! Let me be useful to you even if it kills me! Use me as you need!"

They say true love is unconditional and self-giving so I will aide my enabler in patricide to prove my worth to him!

According to Professor of Psychology Sam Vaknin, the DSM gives us 9 criteria to diagnose an Inverted Narcissist, and you need to have at least 5 to qualify. Here are some that he mentioned that I think fit Akane:

The inverted narcissist is emotionally stable, but her self-esteem is very low. The inverted narcissist devalues herself as an offering, as a sacrifice to the narcissist in her life. The inverted narcissist is compelled to filter all her narcissistic needs through the primary narcissist in her life. The inverted narcissist feels amplified by the primary narcissist's own accomplishments. The inverted narcissist is pre-occupied with fantasies [...] of an ideal love to be accomplished through the narcissistic partner.

The inverted narcissist feels like she is undeserving and not entitled to anything.

The inverted narcissist is indistinguishably selfless. She is sacrificial. She is anxious in her interpersonal relationships. She avoids assistance of others at all cost. She can only interact with others when she can be seen to be giving, supporting and expending an unusual effort to assist. So she is sacrificial, she sacrifices herself, but ostentatiously, in full view.

The inverted narcissist lacks empathy like a classic narcissist. She is intensely attuned to others needs, but only insofar as it relates to her own need to perform the required self sacrifice. She needs to self sacrifice in order to obtain her narcissistic supply from her primary narcissist. But to do so, she must be attuned to his needs. So this is her restricted use or leverage of empathy.

The inverted narcissist displays extreme shyness, lack of any real relational connections, is publicly self-effacing, is highly moralistic and critical of others, is a perfectionist, engages in lengthy ritualistic behaviors that can never be perfected.

I also mentioned that Akane has Cerebral subtype, in that she believes she has superior intellect, and the Covert subtype, where she seems altruistic and selfless on the outside but internally she is driven by a self-serving need to be useful, to be wanted, because she chases after this external validation to fill in the gaps of her own self-esteem and call to perfectionism.

There is room to argue that Aqua is actually the inverted narcissist and she's codependent on Akane who is the altruistic/communal narcissist subtype. I reviewed it, but it seems she's the codependent one in this scenario.

I think this answer entails that Aqua himself also has NPD, and I think he does have Vulnerable Narcissism with Cerebral subtype. Kana actually picked up on it pretty well:

He does tend to think that he is the sole person who can accomplish this mission of revenge, even though it took him 4 years to crack a passcode and he actually didn't solve anything himself. Like, ever.

He thinks that he has some superior ability to read people and manipulate them (and it's not necessarily true, he just believes so).

And he likes bringing it up out loud a lot, like I used you, or haha she's so easy to manipulate, regardless if he actually did anything.

When Ruby points out he hasn't made any friends, Aqua deflects and becomes defensive.

He also initially thought that he was going to make it big as an actor after the one time he did well as a child, and entreated Gotanda to take him in, but when his PTSD was getting in the way of his acting, he just chalked it up to saying no actually I was never talented in that, because he doesn't want to admit to others that he doesn't have the supernatural inhumane acting skills he thought he did. (Note: He's not comfortable showing those old acting videos to Kana, but is okay with showing it to Akane for this reason.)

He truly believes he's everybody's savior. Unprompted he just thinks he's some main character that caused everybody's suffering. His Behavioral Self-Blame (BSB) about the death of both of his mothers is a manifestation of his wish for control over the situation, which is a known coping mechanism for those with PTSD or Major Depression Disorder (MDD)

Vulnerable NPD subtypes also feel uncomfortable being praised, which is why he reacts that way with Kana.

Vulnerable NPD subtypes also hate being asked to compete, which is why during both LoveNow and Tokyo Blade arcs, he keeps out of the way.

Vulnerable NPD subtypes really really hate rejection, and that's why Aqua says that he can't confront Kana without a Pieyon mask because he's too weak to be shot down by her again.

Vulnerable NPD subtypes are quite anti-social, but again if you confront them about it, they'll just deflect you and say things like they had no intentions to make friends or they're busy observing or something like this.

I mean, look at this dumbass intellectualize having feelings for girls his age like Akane and Kana:

ONLY A NARCISSIST WOULD (half-joke)

This is of course a reminder that people with NPD aren't inherently bad people, they also don't come in one shape or form as there are many subtypes, and they can swing in severity. Most of them are a by-product of either a traumatic childhood or an overly doting one. Akane and Aqua just simply happened to be both of these.

I just came to this interpretation when I kept thinking of why was it that it felt like both Akane and Aqua were using each other. They both felt miserable and yet felt necessary and dependent on each other's emotional comfort. They both lie to each other too. I think a lot of people have picked up on the "feeling" that the two are using, manipulating, abusing each other, there's something dysfunctional about them together, and yet they also genuinely care about each other a lot. And people couldn't pick the right words to describe that. Co-dependents and their primary narcissists can heal together into a healthy relationship, they don't have to stay that way forever. But for the most part, nobody really recognizes that that's what was happening, because the dance they do together looks completely synchronized as a relationship. Who ever says no to a sweet and completely self-giving girlfriend? Who would leave their boyfriend to die alone in a revenge plot?

ONLY A NARCISSIST WOULD (not joking)

#3 Does Kana know the real Aqua:

I think a lot of Akane fans love to cite that Akane knew about the revenge, the trauma, the using, the manipulation etc. She also knows what he's like when he's being silly and playful.

And I don't deny that Aqua and Akane cared for each other.

But I also think that Kana knew Aqua even when he was being unpleasant, making crude jokes about her when they were kids. Kana observes Aqua's acting meticulously and understands the fine details of his style. Kana also has actual conversations with him about his interests too. They read the same books and they jog together, and they're very comfortable arguing with each other about anything.

Most of all, of anybody, only Kana has pointed out that Aqua has chuunibyou/grandiose thinking, narcissistic tendencies, and that Ruby has a co-dependent relationship with him (even when she didn't know about their past as Sarina and Gorou, she just picked it up as the core reason for their clinginess).

#4 [Bonus] Does Kana know Kamiki?

I don't think so.

When Kamiki opened his production company/agency, Kana would have been about 11yo. It was around this time that she had been recording Full Moon and her other songs, and her career had been on a decline. Then her company left her and she started freelancing instead.

Kana's acting style is also diametrically opposed to Kamiki's acting. Which as Akane has pointed out is similar to Ai's acting style. Kana's acting is very emotionally honest and is rooted in her personal understanding of her own emotions, whereas Kamiki and Ai act to deceive others based on the calculated perception they know the audience wants of them. Given this, it's unlikely that Kamiki mentored her in any form.

Lastly, I think Kana would have been the first person to point out that Kamiki looks like Aqua if they knew each other, even if he was acting as the Miki-san persona.

But I did joke before that I think if Kana and Kamiki met each other, they'd just traumabond and be friends until the cops haul Kamiki away. And that'd be the funniest thing ever.

i'm curious as to what made you choose non-speaking plants as the daemons in your wc au, since a lot of your daemon fic seems to deal more with daemons as sentient beings. is it something you're planning to explore more or just a case by case thing?

of course!

the shortest answer to this is "because it's warrior cats." i also call this a "daemon" au for that exact reason--it was INSPIRED by daemon aus, but yeah, as i write daemon aus its very much a distinct sort of thing.

ive really struggled to make a daemon au work with warriors because at face value (at least to me) it just flat out doesn't--giving cats a second, talking body like...doesnt track? daemon aus give human characters animals. this works. but if your main characters are cats, do the cats...also get animals? if the cats have daemons that means humans have to, as well, and other sort of animal life--which just becomes needlessly complicated and also not warrior cats anymore.

so, i gave the cats plants, because then you can stick with the symbolism aspect of things, but don't have to deal with the logistics of actually having Two Animals Now. plus, in-universe the daemons are given to clan cats by starclan--it is not a normal cat experience and thus it makes much more sense to limit it to just the clans. in my head the plants are also sentient to some extent--they move around the cats' bodies and react to things and do think, its just. they're plants so it's not really in any way a human (or cat in this case) can see 1:1. plus it was actually inspired by some stuff from my owl house daemon au dnkgdfg.

also, technically none of my daemon lore carries over across my various fics. like, mostly it will, or at least bits of it will, but if you look at daemons in like, the nimona daemon au vs the wolf 359 daemon au, i'm clearly exploring different themes with them lol. with the warrior cats au it falls more into the themes im really drawn to with warrior cats, which is starclan as a destructive force and then for this one specifically i really wanted to write about leafpool, bc i adore her but haven't ever written something w her as the main character.

i doubt i'll explore this more in future works, though, unless i happen to write another warrior cat daemon au! you're right in that for most of my daemon aus i treat daemons just as much as people as i do their human counterparts, and that's what i truly have the most fun doing. warrior cats is an outlier and also only a daemon au by the barest definition of the word.

In case you never read them before, hopefully you enjoy the reads!!! I hope you can forgive the older grammar on Zorro's. I def plan to rewrite it, once I finish working on my raider-code. (It's been taking so long bc I'm trying to learn to use the CSS mixin z-index class-type. I still can't figure out image borders for the life of me, but I learned rotation class-types LOL.)

I've wanted to redraw both their reference sheet for almost YEARS now. Ever since I've gotten Marco, I continuously evolved how I draw him, over and over, to a point his old ref had become a detriment, due to how differently I draw him nowadays LOL. One thing that desperately needed a redo for him especially, how his hair is supposed to be drawn + his wings. His wings looked like floppy chicken nuggets on the old one LOL. PLUS! I added a section of details, where I see artists I commissioned, struggle with or fail on. Hopefully the detail section is sufficient in fixing that! I'm not sure, if I should also add a mention, of Marco's dot details below the pink pattern, as even the distance between the dots is different. + I LOVE DRAWING EXPRESSIONS. So to also add a small box of extras for Marco's cool glowy eyes was a treat. <3

I plan to redraw his refs for his magic wind attacks perhaps, as for now, I have a shabby drawing, and I got a free animation program lately, so I can FINALLY unleash my years of experience animating, in the appropriate program now LMAO. My own limitations of using SAI to animate, was making my animations look choppy and bad for years unfortunately, so my art always looked very amateur-ish when I actually know how to animate..

Speaking of that, for the attentive...Yes, I plan to possibly try and draw a 360° turnaround of my characters, as the next natural progression of refs next. I am SO close, so so SO close to making my art finally look like it's part of my project I've been working on for years in private. Ever since this year, people have proven, that you CAN start an animated series on the internet, and it will receive an audience. I also wanted to start an animated series when I was a teen, and now that I'm an adult I can make it happen for sure, with the right talents. When the time comes, I might seek out a music producer and perhaps, if I'll have the money, hire animators, so that I'm not the only one who has to work on the series I planned.

For Zorro....He had it coming. Last time I drew his ref, he looked like a 16 yo/ mobian child, it pissed me off for so many years, once I learned how to properly make adult characters look adult lol. THE CEREAL SPITTER NOW ACTUALLY LOOKS ADULT AND LIKE THE BASTARD SELF HE SHOULD BE. I don't have too much to add to him, but I consider him still a WIP in my brain bc- RAIDER PAGE CODE. I WANNA FINISH. GRABBY HANDS. I CAN FEEL THAT IF I LEARN Z-INDEX FINALLY I CAN REALISE THAT CODE. I've wanted to make a code for my raiders 3 years ago already y'all it's painful to be patient w/ myself sdgkldslgdsg

ANYWAY. Forgive me in advance for watermarks, but I kind of? Am paranoid now over my art a bit bc my work is good now? Like I think I'm in the final stages of my artistry. I can feel, that I might find the perfect style soon. I need to experiment just a bit more. Just a bit more...I might consider loosening up my linework in 2024. I honestly still? Hate lineart? Like..My lineart looks good now, don't get me wrong but. I just love sketchy artwork so much more??? Sketching is so fun, creating is so joyful, when it's a sketch..But lineart kind of.....Ruins my art. I think I should loosen up. It's why I might change my approach a millionth time, but my artstyle has potential now. I don't feel, like my art is awful anymore or worth nothing, it now HAS worth, I now HAVE the right to have an ego about it, but some pieces still are missing, to give me the ultimate happiness and relief in my work. Perhaps if I do some more commissions, I might unlock my final potential? We'll see.

My aspirations for 2024;

Pass the prep-exam for my workplace (I LOVE MY WORK. I SINCERELY WISH I'LL PASS. I love work so much omg I don't wanna be fired so badly)

Draw more art of Finn & Marco so they finally pass Chloe in most images on TH (I REALLY DON'T WANT HER TO HAVE THE MOST IMAGES STILL. It should either be my comfort boys or C.I.Ta)

Be more experimental with mixing medias traditionally (I wanna start mixing mini craft-projects + my drawings or mix more pencils + markers and also glass pens + watercolours. I rlly rlly wanna experiment and go loose.)

Animate more and possibly even post said animations. I know animation takes me HELL OF A LOT of time, as I lack so much time to do so, but I'd love to do that

Stop stressing so hard over OTA's and commissions. I know I tell myself each year, "this year will be the year I wanna finish all my owed art!!" But every once and a while, I need to be a realist to myself, my optimism may be good, but it sometimes..Is a little over-eager. But I noticed in 2023, I really heavily strangle myself out. I haven't drawn any private art since 2020, really.....It says a lot about an artist, if they now haven't drawn a personal drawing and finished it, in the same quality of their owed work for 4 years now. I haven't been really honest to myself and my heart, and I'd like to forgive myself slowly, by allowing to both work on owed work, and start creative, passionate art-projects again, again, where I can let loose and just. Experiment. Do something new. Push the boundaries of my art. Combine medias, collages, etc, anything under the sun I wanna try. I limit myself so hard, over chasing a goal, I can't achieve, if I won't acknowledge, I'll cause my own death as an artist, if I continue to chase unattainable goals, I can't achieve, if I won't be gentle to myself.

Finish revamping my commission sheet. It requires, I draw new examples of course. The big thing I need to warn ahead; I will have a fat price-increase, due to work taking all the time I can have now. I can only work around 4hrs a day on art. My art takes around 20 hours to be finished. Every piece is done with love, with time, with effort. I'm not an artist, who adheres to algorithms. I'm an artist who lives with passion, with freedom in mind. I have an endless amount of ideas, I have an infinite amount of space and ways to create it. I am not a machine, I am, what an artist strives to be. To simply...Create. AI can go to hell, and drag NFTs along with it. I to this day get attempts to be hacked, by tech bros, believe it or not. I pissed off BAYC on Twitter once, and some butthurt idiot, is still trying to get to my Insta and Steam to this day. Won't happen anymore with 2FA idiot, lmao. I won't allow a 2nd hack to happen.

Finish giving ALL my characters on TH a floatie icon. I know w/ 100% certainty, that I got this task in the bag. This one is of no problem at all.

band name: how did they and the others come up with the band name? has the name changed since it was founded?

so tara’s band is called twiceshy – derived from the old saying ‘once bitten, twice shy’. it was originally an edgy joke between her and seven when they were freshmans, reference a traumatic experience tara had as a child wherein she was uh. mauled by a pitbull lol 💀 i like to think the name was actually the final puzzle piece in terms of her healing emotionally from that experience – she'd been through a lot of therapy over the years as a result obviously, and ended up coming out the other side with an ironic fondness for pitbulls and all misunderstood breeds in general. they even made their band icon a pitbull !

since then she leans HEAVY into dog motifs in her writing because she vibes w the themes. her own defensiveness, her intense attachment to loved ones, her stubbornness, the tendency people have to not respect her as an aggressive animal when pushed . . . she relates ! and also being a woman in a male dominated metal scene.... shes been called a bitch a lot. so why not go all out with it lol

beginnings: when and how did they know they wanted to be a professional musician? was there a deciding factor?

seven was the deciding factor :( before she met him tara was aimless. she was a shy angry kid with no friends and no hobbies outside of writing embarrassing poetry in her textbooks during class and daydreaming. tara was the one who got sev into rock, but SEVEN was the one who introduced her to music and singing in general as an outlet. i don't think she even realized how talented a singer she was until he told her, bc she was so shy prior to meeting him. since then she's always pushed herself to be exceptional in her vocals and her writing bc she does feel like this is the closest thing she has to purpose. but then, even if she hated it (and she does honestly hate the idea of fame) she wouldve done it all anyway just to be close to seven forever.

bandmates: how do they feel about the members of the band? would they still be interested in stardom if they weren’t with that group?

hmmmm..... it's complicated atm? i think things are okay right now with the band, but tense ! they've been tense since The Vote, which tara vehemently objected to and still resents. i really sincerely hope there's a chance for mc to confront their bandmates over the decision, bc . . . yeah. she loves them all, but a part of her blames them for destroying her relationship and future with seven. since his exit she's coped by immersing herself the work and hyperfocusing solely on mastering the craft and pushing herself to her limits, bc she struggles to relate to them socially at the time being. but also.... unless she left the band to be with seven, there's no way she would leave them for greener pastures. she's more about "sharing art" than fame, and her anxiety couldn't handle being untethered from everyone she loves like that.

lyrics: what are some songs you associate with your character? any specific lyrics that really scream your character?

saint bernard by lincoln for that sick dog motif ofc. tara's got so many similar lyrics like that and the majority are about seven. lol.

alternatively happy song by bring me the horizon reminds me of her relationship with music/performing in general. she has such intense social anxiety offstage, but the nature of her genre (heavy metal lol) helps her circumnavigate that fear and absolutely RAGE on stage. it's a great outlet and the one part of being a public facing figure that she enjoys.

i dont fully remember, i think a mix of just fandom stuff w/ friends & rp blogs. i do remember it was a hellacious journey until i could figure it out and since then i just have tried to keep improving or learning new things etc etc.

this is VERY dependent on the set im making at the time. i try to avoid like sets with a lot of images bc i get very tired with the task. but some stuff like i try to do between 2-5 so it looks nice in a post.

15. Have you ever had gifs stolen and reposted

constantly. usually its my avan gifs or star trek gifs. which is like the major reason i dont do them anymore or do a lot of non-video game slash anime sets. i tend to confront the person or ask them to take it down & it goes as well as you expect half the time: not the best. the worst time was a rp blog stealing all my avan gifs, not aware i was in the same rp circles so like tons of mutuals( most shared between the two of us ) notified me & they blocked me on said blog so i had to message them from my personal + other blogs i had at the time as well as said mutuals spoke with them as well before they took them down. it was a very frustrating day.

20. Mac or PC

i have experience with both mac & pc, however my default is my pc which is built for gaming. i’ve had mac laptops in the past via my older sister who would give me her school handmedowns. as far as specifically creating art gifs what have you, i have no preference between the two.

26. How many un posted sets are in your drafts right now

sO I KNOW A LOT OF PPL DO THAT WHERE THEY MAKE STUFF AND SAVE IT IN DRAFTS BUT IM DKSJHA i just i dont have the like mental fortitude to make something and not post it soon after. back when i was doing rp stuff & writing i used my drafts very heavily for wips & i sorta do that w/ gifsets in a way. as i make them i have a opened draft to upload each one to see how they look on tumblr, if they upload correctly, & to check coloring between my main monitor secondary monitor & phone as well so i make sure colors are good theres no washes etc. so usually if there is something in the drafts im currently working on it or its about to be posted so there are zero things in my drafts other than this ask kfsha

i’ve had ppl disrespect me bc of a gifset but ive never gotten hate persay. i do get a lot of bitchy people upset about my “do not repost or remove caption.” that i add to my posts which like i tend to ignore. realistically i cant stop ppl from doing such but it has helped so i keep doing it. usually i get a comment on said set they reblogged that day or in the tag but ive gotten 1 ask once about it & it was p funny. but proper hate with a valid reason ? nah.

49. How much would you say you’ve improved since you first started giffing

oH SO MUCH LOL. from coloring, to timing of the frames, to composition, to typography, to quality. the more i make the better i get. && there are things i want to redo to see how much i’ve improved. im not using the best tools to make these, but i’ve seen my improvement i’ve seen how much better i am & it’s rlly nice to be able to visually see your growth.

im just gonna nab that "dead man's questions" and stick it in between watching part 4 and 5, kinda gives me vibes of like spy secrecy type stuff lol and ngl i was about to search it up automatically but i'm glad i refrained from it now. so the plot follows a character whose passed away? is it some type of flashback or maybe an 'afterlife/ghost' adventure? i don't know which or if either are right so i'm just pulling stuff outta my guessing hat lol

i might just have to accept this inevitable heartbreak either way tbh, just watching characters go on an adventure, have fun, develop and just generally live makes it very hard not to get attached though ig that just comes with the viewing experience. the 'waiting for them to bring the person back' bit is so real though, ngl i always end up forwarding and end up ruining a series for me because "when is this character getting brought back???", to the point i end up not paying attention to the rest of the series lol(/lh) though i'll make sure to not do that when watching jjba :D W series fr

"Chainsaw Man is a character-driven story that manages to conclude itself in 97 chapters, and its due to the author focusing on the main characters and its themes," i didn't think it could be explained so simply in word form but that actually does make sense. "All the battle shounen stuff is just being used a medium to tell the actual story, it's not the story itself." just this description alone summarizes it well i'm assuming and now that i think about it, really makes csm stand out tbh. Almost all anime i can name off the top of my head (action/battle genre ofc) really does focus on "different states and nations all preparing to fight one another for [ cue overarching plot point ]." Character development and personal introspection don't tend to be the top priority, well aside from the 'shonen mc moments' such as ya know- tanjiro, izuku, etc.? (/lh) or from what i can gather at least lol

but honestly, i didn't know csm concluded at 97 chapters! the fact the author was able to just- start it, do what he wanted to do and end it as planned (or at least i'm assuming? i haven't seen any articles with the clickbait tagline of "csm creator dislikes/isn't happy about [ ... ]!") it got pretty popular too so that's awesome to hear, and yea true actually, i can see you and other people like denji and the fact that both the "Mineta Minoru is Expelled from U.A. High School/Shinsou Hitoshi Replaces Mineta Minoru" tags on ao3 collectively have over 5.8k fics says enough lol

spy was definitely a very wholesome show and it's just so, so nice to watch the family dynamic form and grow<3 dunno why but i liked how they were able to incorporate bits of yor and loid's profession into their parenting styles what with yor helping to cause the iconic damian scene and loid with attempting to sneak in to change anya's grade lol, but oh! what's your thoughts on franky? ngl i kinda love all the goofy stuff he pulls and gets twilight to do lol, but yeah tbh yuri's bit of being secret police and his scenes with anya are some of the only highlights of his char i remember when watching ;; (/lh) obsessive brother still kinda shocks me with how it's pretty prevalent as a trope tbh but also what's your thoughts on bond? also what was your favorite and maybe least liked episode or mayb chapter of sxf?

I remember reading 'Kichikujima (Freak Island)' quite a while ago, I remember it's pretty gorey though I don't know if it qualified as phycological horror? Don't remember too many details so I may be wrong, but oh yeah! I don't know for sure if you were reffering to these types but I kind of made some terms for it lol, idk they're pretty simple labels

Jumpscare Horror - self explanatory, there's a lot of jumpscares and "dun dun dunn" type music/scenes right before the jumpscare.

Gore Horror - I assume this is where kichikujima falls into? Typically, zombie and slasher movies fall into this one lol

Phycological Horror - what you just described :D and ngl ig the name for this one is self explanatory enough lol

I only ever watched the anime so I'm not sure whether you'd enjoy it or not, but it's one of the things that come to mind when I think of things that are 'depressing at their core' (/lh)

Very valid reasoning ngl TT always a genuine whiplash whenever you compare the male and female character designs, the 'probably do not see people of the preferred sex at all' comment both made me cackle and makes a lot of sense lol, the manga started at 1997 and since it's a 'weekly title', technically a chapter comes out every week, I assume that doesn't leave much time for socialization? I dunno but doing this for close to 3 decades, you'd think some actual body diversity or dif styling would be developed as the story progressed but- how did it seriously evolve backwards? I remember a review video I watched citing the author's response as basically saying the target demographic is teen boys anyways? I need to find the video but I'm definitely sure that was the gist of the first bit of his response, it's as if his made unique and customized molds for all of the male characters while using the singular body mold fkr every single one of the female characters ;; the fact he prolly just chooses not to is def a massive let down tbh :')

yes ive watched the first naruto it didnt end on a bad note or anything, and i started shippuden and he was suddenly like fucking 16 so i put it on the backburner (for whats been... 4 years now.. i dont think ill get to it ever honestly naruto was fire though. when he would transform into that.. posessed fox form i ALWAYS had to rewind and watch the scene again. idk if its top 3 anime :grimacing: like people say but its not a bad show either (i watched it instead of reading it cuz it was Free) for characters i LOVED naruto. ofc i did hes the mc but like hes such a cool kid honestly. the kinda kid everyones friends with in primary school (apart from in show). the entire main gang was great but naruto and kakashi were my top 2 .. and gaara now that i remember him i liked him more than naruto when i watched it tbh-- he was just so angry and emo and fine ive matured past the age of calling fictional characters attractive but when i was 11 i was in love with him honestly heavily disliked sasuke. which is ironic cuz i hated him for the reason i loved gaara he was so angry and emo all the time-- but he hurt naruto with his edginess (technically gaara did too but i excuse it.) also he was just being a bit of a asshole. like anime rival esque asshole but an asshole nontheless this is getting long so i'll get to the show itself honestly. because its been so long i cant remember what i really disliked the stuff that i can remember are just dumb stuff that all older animes do i guess all the "sexy-jutsu" stuff were kinda off-putting plus jiraiya as a whole. i loved him but damn he was WEIRD i had to google what the sannin were cuz i genuinely forgot-- but i think theyre cool jiraiya is a bit icky, the blonde one (forgot her name) was pretty funny- i liked her dynamic with sakura and orochimaru i think his name was; was so cool. his entire look influenced who i am today i owe it all to him /hj

death 13 is both the episode name and the ability name of the person in that episode and- id wholeheartedly recommend subbed for jjba a LOT of the jokes only work cuz its japanese, aswell as the emotions in scenes personally i dont like dubs since i find that its usually more "colorful" in its original form (for that reason i generally cannot watch korean dubs of animes.. they just throw me off ever-so-slightly

jonathan looks better in the anime than the manga to me, but this is mainly because i dont really like anime characters with muscles as big as. uh.

the hercules-corona borealis great wall :grin: and in the anime they werent as ginourmous its a REALLY good thing arakis art style did not stay the same for the entire series honestly picturing the later characters drawn the way the first parts were drawn is honestly whiplash-inducing

this is the best thing i could find ^ and honestly it looks cool as hell- the artist is really talented but with the art style i just cant envision it would be as lighthearted as sxf is it carries its own vibe to it

if youve already heard that eren dies it wont pack as hard of a punch (the punch being that THE main character died) but it will still tug on your heartstrings, if you dont know the specifics. i wont say its for mikasa, but more for everyone really eren. is honestly a result of knowing too much thats what i love about aot really.. theres no bad guys other than the big man eating monsters, but even those monsters arent truly bad everyones doing what they have to do, and thats most evident in eren once you sit down and absorb the lore its gutwrenching for remembering what i watched... i honestly have no way of tracking it. theres been a good few times i watched a show, and then realized id finished it already i probably shouldve done that, but theres no point to it now so i just use memory (which honestly shows if a show is good or not-- theres a lot of shows i immediately think of despite having watched them 3 years ago/ ex: death note, erased, jjba, and school live) (and yes thats the correct way to use the way tangents)

thats whats great about csm its not just ur average battle shounen, and its battling is second to its characters whenever i see debates abut goku vs naruto and such its just like the main thing anyone got from the series was the fights (which is fully valid) but like.. there usually isnt much character depth this is usually combatted by making the characters one character trait- something that csm flips over idk what im on about. its 11 pm and i havent slept in 2 days im so sorry if this comes off weirdly written

csm was a really short read and im so happy about that since as you said, fujimoto did what he wanted, finished, and was satisfied with it hes also working on csm part 2- which is not from denjis pov it has a whole different protagonist ive heard, and takes place somewhere else i wont be reading it, since i dont want to start anything i cant finish, but i do push you to once youve finished jojo/killer in love/ other things you feel like reading

it is really nice that yor/loidś work influenced the way they parent (esp with how yor tried to teach anya to defend herself from bullies) franky was a fun character- i liked his disguises he got from loid

bnd is cute i dont really have anything to say about him.. the whole looking into the future thing is cool though my favorite chapter has to be the one where loid is convinced yor is upset with him so he takes her to a bunch of different places.. but she was just in pain after a mission bad explanation but you get the memo i hope

i wouldnt say ALL scenes are the exact same quality as everything ive been showing, but everything is generally *really* pretty

^that was a generally regular scene, so thats just how the art is as a default its really beautiful (also that guy with white hair is the arata i mentioned-- he isnt bad in comparison to all the other ¨bad" characters.. hes just sorta a prick)

i honestly,,,.... shouldnt have said hoodie guy isnt as bad hes really bad but morally speaking white hair guy is even worse so he isnt as bad, but he isnt tame either, esp later on all your points are getting across just fine btw :grin:

i havent read kichijuma before, but i searched it up and it honestly looks really cool like really cool it has 24 volumes from what i read though so i dont think ill check it out

of the three you mentioned, i dont like jumpscare horror its just lazy same with gore horror if thats all there is to it i dont really enjoy horror mangas/animes much in general minus a select few, but for games im all for them (chillaś art's stuff is great) people i think don't like psychological horror because its more of a thing that gets to you (?) in contrast to with jumpscares or something, that it hits you and youre scared and thats sorta that you dont really shriek in fear over psychological horror, which is what some people look for in horror (yes uzumaki is the swirly one) oyasumi punpun,... is... about punpun and him traversing life (him and his family are drawn as birds. everyone else is drawn normally. he is human) i would usher you to check it out yourself :thumbsup:

also- i started dororo, but i never finished it i probably should tonight since i cant sleep ill tell you how i feel about it if i get to it (no promises though)

i get the one piece demographic is manga loving teenage boys but i guess its just dissapointing that he just... chooses not to put effort into his female characters

I'd like to properly respond to each and every question and add a few pictures as requested just please forgive the terrible photo quality, the lighting in my room is pretty horrendous TnT, so I will put all of that under the cut ↓↓

To answer your questions :

- I consider myself a life-long collector. When I was a very young child, I used to collect acorns with a neighborhood friend of mine. I also collected plushies. Then I moved on to collecting Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. That eventually turned into collecting anime, mostly DVDs at first. Then around the age of 15, I began collecting figures and other merch.

- I mentioned it very recently, but I'll say it here too : Black Butler is actually the reason I got into collecting figures! ^^ After getting hooked on Black Butler, I had stumbled across Nendoroids for the very first time. And, well... it's a rabbit hole I fell down and have never been able to pull myself out of. Not that I'm complaining lol With that being said! With the new upcoming season, I am REALLY hoping that Kotobukiya will re-release their Black Butler ArtFX-J 1/8th Scale Figures. Since I missed out on them initially, I'd love another chance to add them to my collection. Fingers crossed! x(>w<)x

- My very first figures were the Sebastian Michaelis and Ciel Phantomhive Nendoroids, which I still have sitting safely on my shelf (:

- According to my MyFigureCollection account... I currently have 450 owned figures with 46 ordered/pre-ordered. Keep in mind that I've been collecting for well over 10 years now, so everything just ended up accumulating lol

- My favorite figure? Ohhh, that is an extremely difficult question to answer, anon! If we're talking about my favorite figure that I currently own... Then I have to choose Kotobukiya's AftFX-J Version 2 Shoto Todoroki 1/8th Scale Figure. The flames and the ice are done beautifully, and he's actually larger than a lot of my other 1/8th Scales, which was a pleasant surprise ^^

- My newest figure is a prize figure of Aizawa from My Hero Academia

- Currently, the most expensive figure I own is the Kotobukiya 1/8th Scale Figure of Katsuki Bakugo from My Hero Academia. But my most expensive figure I have pre-ordered so far is the Freeing 1/8th Scale Figure of Riku Kurose from Ten Count.

- I have many cheaper figures, but I think the cheapest figure in my collection is a mini figure of Rengoku from Demon Slayer. I had used points at Hot Topic and got it for under $2 lol

- As stated before, lovely anon, I have quite a few pre-orders. That's because I always pay in advance, so it's easy for all my pre-orders to accumulate... especially with delays being piled on top of original release dates that are months+ later. But it gives me something to look forward to ^^ If you're curious, this is my current list of pre-orders :

I really want to pre-order the Elias Pop Up Parade to accompany Chise, along with some more Nendoroids and other figures that are supposed to go up for pre-order in the coming days/weeks.... so this list will probably grow soon xD

- I'm honestly looking forward to a lot of figures, anon! (: I am always hoping for future Obey Me! figures... but currently, I cannot wait to see how the LookUp Figures of Deku, Uraraka, Bakugo, and Todoroki from My Hero Academia by MegaHouse turn out. I'm sure they'll be absolutely adorable, which will make them a must have! ^w^

- I have a few duplicate figures that I've gotten from blind boxes. Who knows.... Maybe one day, I'll host a giveaway where I can pass on my duplicates to a loving home (:

- I plan on building a shrine of best boy Shigaraki once I receive every figure I possibly can of him 💙

- My only bootlegs are a few mini figures from Hetalia and the original L Nendoroid from Death Note. But thankfully, I'll be receiving the authentic remake of Nendoroid L in the near future ^^

- My number one holy grail that I would happily sell my soul for is (seriously, if someone wants to buy this for me... consider me your obedient dog! You can even collar me like Shirotani here ¬‿¬ ) :

Again... I'm serious. Woof woof~ ૮ ・ﻌ・ა

My other top holy grails are the Scale Figures of Worick and Nicolas from Gangsta, and the scale figure of Camilla from Fire Emblem Fates :

- Another unbelievably difficult question to answer! ;o; I think if I had to choose, my picks would be the 1/8th Scale Figure of Levi from Attack on Titan, the 1/8th Scale Figure of Souji Okita from Hakuoki, and both Nendoroids of Shigaraki and Dabi from My Hero Academia (I know I'm cheating, but please let me have this! lol)

- My favorite figure company is a tie between GoodSmile Company and Kotobukiya.

- Nendoroids used to be my favorite type of figure. Of course, I still love them! But my taste isn't set on one particular type of figure anymore. I genuinely love Scale Figures, Nendoroids, mini figures, gachapons, Prize Figures, Pop Up Parades, Look Up Figures, etc.

- My entire room serves as my display space lol But I have all of my figures protected from dust mostly. A good portion of my Scale Figures are stored in a china hutch with glass doors. Then the rest of my figures are on bookshelves, behind clear vinyl that I use as makeshift doors. I used to have Detolfs, but I got SUPER paranoid more than I already am after hearing/seeing multiple people talk about how their Detolfs exploded. So now, I literally just use Velcro and vinyl sheets for my bookshelves, which works perfectly and are obviously safer than glass doors. I also have a fish tank rested upside down on a table that I use to display figures. Oh! And you know those hard case Funko Pop Protectors? Most Nendoroids fit perfectly in them (:

- The only "aesthetic" I follow is a hoarding aesthetic haha xD In all seriousness, anon.... While I can admit that following an aesthetic looks nice and pretty, I just cannot limit myself like that. I order what I like and that's it :3

- Currently, I do keep all of my boxes which I keep in storage bins/containers. I may have to re-think saving every box once I run out of room completely... But I'll cross that bridge when I eventually come to it ^^"

- I suppose I could say collecting in general is a regret considering it's not a cheap hobby lol But I would never say that since collecting gives me that dopamine high I desperately need. What I do regret is not picking up certain figures when I had the chance because aftermarket prices are ridiculous. But aside from that... Nope, no regrets here (:

- The only bad experience I've had so far was almost getting scammed out of a Shigaraki Nendoroid. Thankfully I got my money back and bought him from a reputable seller instead, then picked up another Shigaraki Nendoroid from the site I normally purchase from when he was re-released. Since he's best boy, I needed a second copy lol

- At this point in my life, I have absolutely zero intentions on selling any of my figures, plushies, BluRay/DVDs, manga, keychains, wall scrolls/posters, pillows, acrylic stands, etc. I genuinely love every single item I own, so for now... everything will be staying in my possession ^^

- My future plans include expanding my collection until I literally have no room left. I still have a good amount of free shelf space in my main room where I plan to display my pre-orders and possible future orders. I've also converted my walk-in closet into an extension of my room, so I can fit a few bookshelves in there. After that, I'll be able to use half of our spare room for my collection. But I shouldn't have to worry about that for quite a while xD

I'll leave you with this : figure collecting definitely isn't for everyone. It's an expense. It takes up room. Those reasons alone oftentimes cause new collectors to abandon the hobby. So before you impulse buy like I sometimes do lol, especially due to FOMO, I highly recommend thinking about whether or not you'll still love that figure a year from now. How about 2 years from now? 5 years from now?

Of course if you end up losing interest in a particular figure, you can always re-sell it. But as someone who walks the fine line between collecting and hoarding... That's sometimes easier said that done (unless you don't have a problem like me xD)

By the way, I think this needs to be said! Never let other people's opinions discourage you from a particular figure/figure line. Because honestly.... there can be some pretty toxic people within the community.

For example : sooooo many people drag Pop Up Parades through the mud. Yet I own multiple PUPs, and I think they all look amazing, especially for the price. Are they scale figure quality? Of course not! But anyone who expects them to be is delusional (because no $40ish figure is gonna have the same quality/standards that a $150+ figure has.)

Or people will say certain figures look "weird" and "ugly", yet have never seen them in person or are literally nitpicking on the silliest things.

Or people will make rude comments about someone's figure choices, like if it isn't aesthetically pleasing, if their room is too empty/bare or too cluttered, etc. Half of them are a bunch of hypocrites too. I won't elaborate any further, just know that I often sit there and laugh at those kinds of comments lol

Anyway! At the end of the day, you are the only one who needs to be happy with your collection. So just do what makes you happy and keeps you feeling fulfilled 💙

And even though you may not be able to get every figure you want, pace yourself accordingly/within your means and try to have fun with the hobby, anon! (:

this post is literally just me ranting about my own gender experience/questioning as an afab person.

(despite all the cws and tws, it's really not that overwhelmingly negative-- moreso just yelling my confusion into the void lol. i'm just really paranoid abt accidentally ruining someone's day by not tagging smth, hence the literal max 30 tags.)

figuring out ur gender as an afab person is so weird, cuz it's like:

am I uncomfortable w my tits (always have been) for Gender Reasons, or is it the societal conditioning that they're sex objects/will make ME be viewed as a sex object if they're "too noticeable"?

is the visceral discomfort that I've always had (literally since childhood) at even the THOUGHT of having a period a Gender Thing, or is it the societal taboo that makes it impossible to speak/think about it?

do I like the idea of being perceived as masc for Gender Reasons, or bc I know it will make people take me more seriously and make me less of a target for abuse/harassment?

do I feel like a boy in disguise/an imposter when surrounded by other women/in female spaces bc I actually am more masc in my actual gender, or because gender roles and their "boyish interests/presentation" and "girly interests/presentation" have been so ingrained in me that it feels like if I don't match up with That Exact Image of being a very femme woman, then clearly I'm just not a woman at all? (/s for that last phrase)

(A more specific/personalized addendum to that last one: I've got a sister and we both did a lot of performing arts stuff VERY frequently growing up, especially as a duo, and whenever the roles were a boy and girl (which wasn't most of the time but still happened fairly regularly), I'd always be the boy bc she was more femme than me & always wanted to be the girl, whereas i didn't really care-- so like, was that because I'm inherently more comfortable as a more masc person? Or did I just not care either way at the time cuz I was a damn kid just having fun playing a role, and now from years and years and YEARS of doing that I've just conditioned myself into thinking of myself as "the guy one" when paired with a woman/surrounded by women??????)

And THEN for me personally, you throw in the fact that both Nate/ND Stevenson (creator of the first show that ever made me feel Seen as a queer person, to the extent that it broke my brain a little) and Elliot Page (right after/while playing his Umbrella Academy character, who was the only "female" character I've EVER felt I could truly relate to in such a full, overwhelming extent for some reason I couldn't name, and whom my friends at the time literally said "had big [my name] energy," without having been told anything about my feelings at all) BOTH came out as transmasc. So it's like,, am i transmasc? All Signs Point To Yes, pretty much. And I distinctly prefer when my tits are squished firmly against my chest, which sounds a whole hell of a lot like chest dysphoria.

...Except that when I got a binder to try it out, threw a hoodie on over it, and looked in the mirror, it was just like,, weird. And a minute or so later when I caught my reflection in the mirror out the corner of my eye without thinking and my brain automatically perceived my chest as like, FLAT flat for the first time, it pretty much shouted "WRONG WRONG WRONG" and started clanging pots and pans until I took it off.

But, irl my nickname is a typically "male" short-hand (as in, someone reading it would assume it's a guy 99.9999% of the time) of my (feminine) name, and I much prefer it. So like I guess I'm just generically nonbinary... but I also really don't want to say that I'm not a woman? But that reluctance could just be reluctance at relinquishing what makes me "valuable" in society's eyes, or in accepting that I've "failed" to be what I was "supposed" to be. Or in losing my ability to "speak authentically" about things like sexism, even though I Know Full Well that that's not how that works, like, at all. So it's just... ????????????????????

The only thing I have been able to figure out is that I definitely want to be more buff and athletic, and definitely make my body at least a little more masc in that regard. So like, Buff Sword Lady definitely, at least. (I do quite enjoy swords. A lot.) So maybe I just want to be butch?

But I don't look like that yet, and it's so hard to figure this kind of thing out without actually being able to physically see yourself that way, without being able to actually feel it first-hand and compare. So I'm just, like, here, a fantasy writer doing muscle work-outs alone in my room every day, hoping that micro-dosing on jock culture will help me finally feel Right lmao.
