“Affection is a weakness, he still believes that. A terrible weakness. In others.
It only makes Voldemort fiercer. His affection for Sirius comes with something close to fury, with power surging through his veins, ready to use, at the tip of his fingertips.”

hello friends! last month was full of wonderful reads that i’m excited to share. there’s a good variety of pairings this round of recs too, with majority drarry and a few others sprinkled in. wishing everyone another month of amazing fics in august! and now here are my favourite fics from july:
Drarry
The Heart of the Manor by @kedavranox | M | 3k
i love drarry and horror and this fic was masterful. it’s able to weave such a vividly eerie atmosphere with an incredible, ominous ending in only 3k words. skillfully concise and quick, it’s like a well placed gut punch in the best way possible.
Not Nineteen Forever by @sorrybutblog | E | 5k
i am a sucker for any fic involving de-aging/age difference between Harry and Draco, especially when it has a generous dose of pining. i absolutely loved younger draco in all his funny, sexy, teasing glory!
Progressive Displacement by GatewayGirl | E | 20k
this one was a reread, but one i’ll never get tired of. universe hopping is always so so fun, and all the different versions of harry and draco were amazing.
The Matchmaker’s Spell by @kbrick | E | 20k
messy drarry has such an exquisite flavour. their dynamic when it’s a little bit fucked up is just *chefs kiss* the energy of this fic is so wonderfully intense and i felt like i was buzzing the entire time i was reading it. and can we talk about that ending? brilliant!
The Day Before the Wedding by @kbrick | E | 39k
when i saw that kbrick dropped a new fic and that it was a timeloop fic, i pretty much dropped everything to read it. harry reliving the day before he gets married to ginny over and over is all at once spectacularly calamitous and cathartic. harry and draco both work for their growth in this one, and the timeloop aspect is done wonderfully, as per expected from kbrick!
The Art of Our Necessities by dcfg21 | E | 52k
this one was another reread and one that i’d consider one of my personal drarry classics, at least in the vampire genre. we have unhinged vampire harry who is bonded to draco to keep him on a leash, with a gloriously hot dynamic featuring a possessive and protective harry. i love how much these two cant help but want each other. a drarry vampire must-read.
The Remnant by @kbrick | E | 71k
i must admit that i went on a bit of a kbrick splurge this month but i couldn’t resist this one when i saw the demonic possession tag,, possessed harry has got to be one of the most creepy hot things i’ve read and i thoroughly enjoyed everything about it (as did draco 😳)
Others
Snarry
Ingredients of Respect by Lizzy0305 | E | 27k
harry gaining a genuine interest in potions is something i love reading, especially when severus helps him realize it. but when harry also gains an interest in severus, the tension is strikingly hot. i loved the dynamic between them!
In Between Days by atrata | E | 68k
the characterization of snape in this fic is so good! he’s the perfect mix of bitterness, snark, and self loathing. paired with a messy, angsty harry, you get a snarry dynamic that feels absolutely electric.
Tomarymort
Break it Down by @acciotomriddle | M | 1k
prisoner voldemort and harry in a smutty power struggle? yes, please.
Dark Heritage by @dropsofnightshade | 342k
it’s always lovely reading harry-gets-adopted-by-adult-who-actually-treats-him-well stories. i especially liked the depiction of the black family in this one! and harry’s relationship with the greengrass family was such a treat as well. also notable is the world building, wizarding politics and dark magic!
Sirius/Voldemort
It runs in the blood by @metalomagnetic | E | 121k
this fic has haunted my mind since i started reading it. voldemort courting sirius to be a death eater, and maybe even more was something i didn’t know i needed until i got it and then suddenly it was all i’ve ever wanted. this fic immersed me into a setting i don’t read too often—during the first war with voldemort. and we really get into the thick of it with sirius and all his different interactions. highly recommend!

The Unbroken Universe has truly ruined my life because simply nothing fucks as hard as this:
Voldemort looked up at him calmly, his voice surprisingly compassionate. "You won't save them, my friend. They're beyond that."
“I know." Sirius smiled a bittersweet smile. "But I don't have to save them. I just have to stop you."
“So you do." At last, Voldemort rose. "Then may this be our final meeting, for I would hate to see you die.”
Chapter 28; Promises Defended
Fifteen year old me read this once and hasn’t looked back since.

I have two moods for Sirius:
I either ship him with James or I ship him with Voldemort.
Also, if you've not read it, go and read @metalomagnetic It Runs in The Blood (for DeathStar)
and
@gracelesslady23's and a love that I dreamt of came to me at my worst (for Prongsfoot)
I also have a third mood where Sirius goes absolutely berserk and destroys everything to protect or avenge the ones he loves
The Black Lord by irislafey is beautiful in this regard.

tai recs: my bleeding heart for this wip
that crazy feeling when your favourite WIP fic gets an update after a month and you're so hyped but at the same time scared and excited and you know you have 20k to read, but you also know the crushing feeling that will debilitate you like a shipwreck once it's over and you'll be left undone on the road while the proverbial truck goes over your body ad aeternun until next update.
It runs in the blood (E, 243k, Voldemort/Sirius, WIP) is one of the best dark rare pair fics i've ever read. it has THE best sirius, and THE best grasp on the dark psychology behind the Black family. amazing author metalomagnetic never cease to amaze me. I've been obsessed for more than a year now, if I could I would live inside this bloody fic. it's so well written i wanna shout to death. it's wartime, young sirius being reckless, deliciously long slow burn, dark and smart, sensual in a very dangerous and erotic way. and Bellatrix, goodness, god bless this insane creature, and all the pureblood crew, they are all so very well developed.
Summary: Sirius Black makes a different choice.

It's been months but I've kept thinking about writing a fic where Sirius gifts Tom/Voldy, nagini. He learns his bday, Sirius than goes on some mission, sees the snake, thinks if Voldemort and gets him her. Like he isn't a gifter in that way, never so deeply thought out. Maybe he just really wanted to see Voldy smile. He's not so sure why he gave the gift. But it's appreciated none the less and from then on, Voldy has nagini practically stuck to his side. This wound be dark!Sirius, set in first war.

James Potter x Slytherin!Fem!Reader!
Summary: In which you go back home only to find something dreadful waiting for you there already
Word Count: 1.4k
Warnings: Mentions of abuse, torture, also blood but nothing extreme, crying, death(s), knives, I think that's it?
Previous Part Series Masterlist
───※ ·❆· ※───
Over the next week and a half or so, James was there as you recovered. To the surprise of Lily and Molly, you were doing better than they expected, you were healing fast. Of course, only you knew how many times you had been tortured that landed you on the brink of death, and made it back, all in that hellhole you used to call home.
James was constantly asking if you were alright, if you needed something, and even though you had told him not to, James Potter was full of guilt.
Not only had he misjudged you and been rude to you for years, he was the reason you could have lost your life. He had to make it up to you, somehow. And he was glad you two decided to turn back the pages and write a new story, as he found your company very pleasant.
Sirius was completely blown away at the behavior of his best mate. Sure, you had saved James' life, but that didn't mean James had to follow you around like a lost puppy. Sirius had nearly stopped his cold behavior towards you but didn't try to warm up either. Remus merely quietly chuckled to himself at the sight of James and you. It was quite amusing to him, how James had hated your guts but was now wanting to spend quality time with you.
Going into the second week after the incident, you realized you were well enough and had to head home. James however declared he would escort you home, and would not take no for an answer.
"Potter, I'll be fine." You gritted through your teeth. James' constant stubbornness did manage to get on your nerves from time to time.
"No. I am going and that's final." He said, being stubborn as ever.
"Prongs, let L/n go if she says so." Sirius spoke in between, not happy about the newfound connection between the two of you.
James glared at him and gripped your forearm with a tight grip so you couldn't remove his hand, but not tight enough to hurt you.
You sighed in exasperation. "Fine." You said, giving in. You waved goodbye to Remus and Sirius, the latter not giving any response while Remus wished you farewell.
You and James walked out of headquarters before you closed your eyes, imagining your little cottage and the two of you apparated. You felt a wave of nausea hit you as your feet hit the ground and you bent over.
"Are you ok?" James asked with worry, trying to peer at your face.
You waved a hand, "Yeah, I'm fine." You answered, straightening up. However your mouth went dry and fear filled your whole being at the sight before you.
The door to your cottage was wide open, darkness pooling out. Above the building you called home, a colossal skull, composed of what looked like emerald stars, with a serpent protruding from its mouth like a tongue, etched against the black sky like a constellation.
The Dark Mark
"Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!" You whimpered, running towards your cottage with James on your tail. You rushed in, halting near your kitchen when you saw a dark red liquid staining the walls. Your breaths began to come out short and quickly, you felt your legs weaken as you leaned against the wall for support.
"This can't be happening." You breathed out, afraid of what you would see if you walked a few more steps in. James came from behind and wrapped an arm around your shoulders, surveying the situation.
"Y/n," He spoke softly, "We should go. I'll let the Order know and they can come and-"
"No." You shook your head as you freed yourself from the young Potter's grip, walking further in.
“Y/n.” James tried but you paid him no heed.
In the middle of the room sat such a heart wrenching sight that crushed your heart and soul entirely.
Your beloved House-Elf, the one companion you had since childhood, the one who healed your wounds, the one who had always made sure you ate and slept properly. The same House-Elf who had stayed by your side no matter how many times you had freed him, the one true friend you had for the longest time.
Dead.
And what broke your heart even more was that he had sacrificed his life, as his body lay lifeless in front of a small bundle of fur, also drowning in a pool of blood. The same puppy you had rescued from the streets only two months prior.
Both of them,
Dead.
You sank to your knees, sobbing your heart out.
"I'm so sorry." You managed to say out in between the heavy sobs escaping your mouth. "I'm sorry I couldn't protect you two."
James stood rooted to his spot, reeling in with shock.
You shakily raised your hands out, grabbing the handles of the very metal that was pierced into your friends bodies and pulled them out. You tossed the knives to the side in anger, letting out a scream. At that, James finally snapped out of it and kneeled down beside you, bringing you into his chest.
"I'm so sorry." He said, rubbing your back as you cried.
You two stayed in that position for the next few moments. However a new sound caught both your attention.
Crack!
You pulled away from James' chest, wiping your face as you both exchanged a look.
Someone had just apparated onto the premises.
You both immediately jumped to your feet, wands raised in front of you.
You heard very tiny sounds of the pitter patter of feet and James moved forward, putting himself in front of you. You watched with bated breath over James' shoulder and when the newly arrived came into view, you shrieked, happiness and relief overwhelming you as you pushed past James. You fell onto your knees as you hugged your best friend.
"Willy! You're alive!" You spoke, feeling like your heart would burst.
A bark sounded and a very small bundle of white fur pounced onto you, excitedly licking your face. You picked him up, peppering his face with kisses.
"Hello to you too, my sunshine." You spoke as you hugged your dog, Fluffy, to your chest and pulled in Willy for a hug with your other arm. You were so overwhelmed with joy that tears began to cascade down your face again.
"Mistress, please do not cry. Willy did not mean to make Mistress cry."
You let out a watery laugh.
"How many times have I told you to call me Y/n, Willy?"
The House-Elf's cheeks colored pink. "Sorry, Mistress."
You wiped your tears away and then frowned, turning back to look at the scene in the kitchen.
"But if you're alive then, what's that?" You asked Willy, pointing over your shoulder.
"Those are fake, Mistress." Willy squeaked out. "About two weeks ago, I heard someone apparate and the wards shifted. Willy thought it must be you, Mistress, but it was not. You had told us to run if anyone evil came here, and we did but Willy had a good idea and with magic, Willy made the impostors so the evil people think it is us but Fluffy and Willy were gone and safe."
You let out a happy cry.
"You are an absolute genius, Willy, always have been! But how did you know we were here?"
Willy's ears bounced as he replied, "Willy had put up a new ward that allowed Willy to sense a new arrival if someone passed that ward."
You shook your head, smiling brighter than James had ever seen as you turned around, almost forgetting he was there.
"We need to go back. I need to stay at Headquarters until I can find a new place to shift us all."
James nodded but spoke without realizing, "Of course, but you could come to my place, it's fairly empty."
He mentally slapped himself. You two were at loggerheads two weeks ago and now here he was offering you to stay at his flat.
You smiled, "Thank you for the offer, but it wouldn't be nice of us to intrude, plus," You looked down at the excited puppy in your arms, "Headquarters may be more ideal for Fluffy in terms of space."
James nodded, not trusting himself to speak for if he did, something stupid would escape his mouth again.
James and you went through your cottage, collecting anything of importance and essentials, before apparating back to Headquarters, leaving the cottage in the state it was in case someone came back.

Prompt 31 - Body Hair
@jegulus-microfic March 31 Word count 1435
Here we go guys. I hope it doesn't disappoint.💜💜
Previous part First part
Something was wrong. Regulus, Barty and Evan had all been summoned, but not to Malfoy Manor. They’d been summoned to a field in Devon.
They’d only just all returned to Rosier House to start planning the best way to defeat Voldemort.
“We’re coming with you,” James told him. “The rest of us will hide. But at least we’ll be there if anything goes wrong.” Regulus argued, but Sirius moved to James’s side and stood shoulder-to-shoulder with him.
“We’re coming, Reggie.” He said firmly. Regulus stopped trying to change their minds.
They apparated together a safe distance from the field into a small wooded area. Regulus’s dark mark was searing with pain as Voldemort summoned him over and over again.
“I love you,” He said, grasping James’s robes and dragging him down for a final kiss. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the others doing much the same.
He let go of James and took Remus’s arm as Voldemort summoned him again. They spun and landed beside Barty and Evan in the centre of a field of long grass.
“My Lord,” They spoke together, bowing low as one.
“What took you?” Voldemort hissed, his anger not hidden at all.
He stood before his entire congregation of Death Eaters. Regulus was pleased to see the werewolves hadn’t been summoned as well. He must think they aren’t that much of a threat. Perhaps he was right.
“We were hunting down my brother as you demanded, my Lord. We were hot on his trail and had hoped to capture him before we answered your call.” Regulus said using his best penitent Lord voice.
“Liar!” Voldemort hissed at them so fiercely that they half expected him to transform into a snake.
With a crack, Bellatrix and three masked Death Eaters appeared beside Voldemort. James, Sirius, Lily and Pandora with them, bound tightly. They shoved their captives forward towards Regulus.
“Pan-Pandora, what are you doing here?” One of the masked Death Eaters spluttered, breaking rank. Lord Rosier was quickly forced back into line by Voldemort’s deadly stare.
“Mr Potter and Mr Black were caught leaving Rosier House last night with our spy in chains. We have put two and two together and assume you are all working together. You have all turned spy for Albus Dumbledore.” Voldemort spat the name as he revealed why they’d been summoned. “Did it start when you were captured?” He asked Regulus.
Regulus set his jaw and nodded stiffly. Voldemort narrowed his eyes. “You have betrayed Lord Voldemort. What an incredibly foolish thing to do.” While Voldemort had been distracted, Barty and Evan had removed the ropes from their friends. The Thestrals raised their wands in unison.
In her haste, Bellatrix had bound her captives but not unarmed them. She realised her mistake and looked in horror at her master. Luckily for her, his attention lay elsewhere.
“Now, now, children. Lord Voldemort is merciful.” Voldemort raised his hands as though to calm them. “Lord Voldemort will forgive your deceitful ways.” He turned to James, Sirius and Pandora, pointedly leaving Lily out of his offer. “Join me, and all will be forgiven. You shall all have a place at my side as we rule wizarding society as it was meant to be.” Voldemort’s attempted benevolence fell short. Their silence gave him their answer.
The line of Death Eaters moved forward, closing the gap between themselves and their master, standing just behind him, all but one. Orion Black reached up and removed his hood and mask. Unseen by everyone but the Thestrals. He raised his wand and, in one graceful swoop, stunned every Death Eater in the back, taking them all out.
Orion managed to bind and gag the Death Eaters before he was hit by Voldemort’s curse. He fell to the ground screaming and then lay still.
“PAPA!!!” Regulus and Sirius screamed together. Regulus saw the murderous rage in his brother’s eyes and knew his own reflected the same. As one, they turned and pointed their wands directly at Voldemort.
They started blasting off spells one after the other. Voldemort may be mortal now, but he was still more than a formidable foe. They dodged and parried and stuck up shields, sending as many spells as possible at Voldemort, hoping to catch him just once so they could get the upper hand.
Evan caught a spell on the left side of his body. Evan’s face contorted in pain as Regulus watched his friend fall to the ground in slow motion. Barty rushed forward and was struck as he tried in vain to get to Evan.
They were dropping like flies. Voldemort was so powerful. Regulus began to panic that none of them would make it out alive.
Pandora and Lily collapsed simultaneously into the sopping grass next after they successfully cast a slicing charm together, leaving deep slashes across Voldemort’s torso. Voldemort fired off curses in quick succession at them.
Sirius dove in front of Remus as another spell went sailing across them. It clipped Sirius and struck Remus.
“REMUS!!!” He screamed, forgetting about the battle and leaving himself open for Voldemort to take out. He landed on Remus’s chest, both of them deathly still. Regulus pushed the tears away as he forced himself to concentrate on the battle.
His magic had begun to crackle beneath his skin with the anger he felt. He tried to ignore it.
Regulus and James were the only ones left. They defended themselves well, but Voldemort was so powerful.
Regulus heard the guff of air leave James's lungs. He turned just in time to see him crumple to the ground, unmoving.
Regulus’s world stopped. A screeching noise blasted his ears. It took him a while to realise it was his own voice screaming in grief. He turned his attention back to the cackling form before him.
“Just us now, little Lord Black. Are you prepared for the afterlife, I wonder?”
“Are you?!” Regulus felt his magic scorching his body as it fought to get out to avenge the ones he loved. Voldemort threw his head back, cackling louder than ever, still believing himself to be immortal.
The magic swirled around Regulus like the ancient magic of the forest had, ruffling his hair and casting a gloom around him that made him look deadly. Voldemort took an uncertain step backwards as Regulus raged towards him, all semblance of fear gone.
There wasn’t much left of Tom Riddle once Regulus was done with him. He fell to his knees, feeling drained. He’d used more of his magic than he’d ever used before. It left him weak.
He snorted with derision as he looked down at the pieces of wizard in the grass and realised the man had absolutely no body hair. It was an odd thing to realise about the person you’d just murdered, but his brain wasn’t exactly working at full capacity. It probably had to do with not wanting anyone to use Polyjuice Potion in his image. He reasoned as things slowly clicked together.
He turned his head, tears beginning to cascade down his face as he remembered his friends and brother lying around him on the ground. And James. Oh, James. He crawled over to him and dropped his head onto his chest as he fell apart, sobbing into his robes.
A hand came up and rested on the back of his neck.
“Hey, love, don’t cry. It’s alright.” James croaked at him. Regulus snapped his head up and watched as James slowly blinked his eyes open.
His mouth found James’s, and the relief at seeing him, feeling him alive, made his jaw quiver with unshed emotion. He could not have survived without James Potter in this world.
Movement in the corner of his eye made him pull away from James, but he still held on for dear life. The others were all groaning in the grass, but they were all moving. They were all alive!
“Fuck you, Mouldy Voldy.” Barty spat into the grass as Evan hauled him shakily to his feet.
Sirius was clinging to Remus much like Regulus was to James. Somehow, Remus managed to pull him over to where they were standing. James wrapped them in a hug. They were all shaking as the effects of the adrenaline wore off. Lily and Pandora came over next, adding themselves to the group hug, and then Evan and Barty joined in, not wanting to be left out.
They just stood there holding each other. Relief and disbelief flooded through each of them.
“We won,” Regulus whispered as he watched his father get up. “We won.”
Thank you all so much for reading I really hope you enjoyed it.

then
"I want you all to meet a new member to the order. I believe her to be trusted, however you might think." from behind the old wizard a young woman emerged. Hair dark and long, a solem look on her face as she stepped infront of him. "Nice to meet you." she spoke, voice deep and firm. Her eyes were dark, almost black in the dim lit kitchen of the Black residence. Sirius felt himself lean forward, determined to catch a glimpse of her face.
"This is Hecate Hunt, a powerful witch and-"a Death Eater." Alastor Moody spoke, his eye skimming from side to side, mouth in a smarl. "Felt it minutes ago." The other members let their shock be known. Gasps and whispers present. She knew the members, of course. How could she not know the legendary Marauders, for one.
"Why would you bring a Death Eater to this place, Albus?" Minerva spoke, voice almost too quiet to hear. Hecate let her gaze wander to Lily and James Potter who held hands, thumbs stroking each others hands. She had known the younger members, as she visited Hogwarts the same years they did. They were hard to miss. Remus Lupin just stared at her, hands in fists. Sirius Black on the other hand had his jaw clenched, mouth in a scowl and his wand in his hand. She knew of the older Black all too well. She had listened to the Dark Lord complain about Walburga and Orions incapability of turning their own son to the dark side multible times.
"Hecate has changed her mind in light of recent events.-"I don't buy it. Once a Death Eater, always a Death Eater." Sirius interupted Albus, his fist connected with the dark wooden table as he spat the words. Anger rose inside of her, she knew of his temper, had seen it first hand in their school days. "Oh you would know all about it, right? Since your familiy's swamped with'em and all, Black." Hecate spat, hands now crossed over her chest. She stooped low, she knew, but she had to get in, she had to make a change. She wouldn't let Black ruin it.
Sirius was fast to jump to his feet, wand raised and his body shaking with anger. "How dare yo-"Sirius, please." Remus tugged him down to his chair. Hecate didn't back down, ready to take whatever would jump from the purebloods wand. It wouldn't be worse than to stand against the Cruciato curse, which made its way passed Lord Voldemorts lips all too often.
Albus huffed a sigh as he eyed Sirius. "If i could continue what i was about to say." Hecate shifted her weight from one leg to another, uneasy with the mood in the room. "Hecate was the witch who freed Alice and Frank Longbottom from the clutches of Death Eaters." he paused, looking at the woman next to him. "Delivered them right to me. I believe that no real Death Eater would've shown them mercy. Therefore, after careful thinking, i recruit Hecate Hunt to be a member of the Order." she gave him a curt nod before taking a seat. She had freed them, too late though. Barty Crouch Jr had broken their minds when she arrived. She'd just spared them from their death. Her eyes once again connected with those of Sirius.
"The reason why i want to help you, is my sister."
Tumblr media
now
Harry made his way passed the table, to the cabinets filled with plates and mugs. Sirius sat at the head of the table, a mug in one hand and the daily prophet in the other. "Morning, Harry." he spoke, a hopeful smile on his bearded face. Remus Lupin sat to his right, a little notebook placed on the table in front of him as he looked up at Padfoots godson. "Morning." he spoke as he saw Harry. He also greeted Lupin with a small smile. "Good Morning."  They didn't mind Harry looking around, it was an old and interesting house after all. Harry thanked Kreacher as the house elf scrambled to make the kid a cup of tea. His eyes locked on a picture frame. The only picture frame there was.
There he saw Sirius and a woman he didn't know. Sirius looked younger, twenty maybe, the woman next to him was beautiful. Her dark long hair hung down her shoulders, shimmering in the warm sunlight as a bright smile spread across her pale face. Sirius gave her an adoring look before he smacked his lips on her cheek. The moment repeated, as every foto in the wizard world does.
"Sirus." he spoke, voice quiet. "Who is this?"
He turned around to look at his godfather. His face had frozen up, the shadow of a tear in his eyes. "Harry.." He could hear Remus say, an attempt of pushing the matter away.
"That's.." Sirius had to take a breath, his voice failing him. "Hecate Hunt." he spoke. He took a sip of his mug, the daily prophet long forgotten on the table in front of him. "Your godmother." it was merely a whisper as he spoke. Harry couldn't believe what he was hearing.
He had a godmother, somewhere out there-"She's dead." his voice rang in Harry's head. Harry placed the picture on the table, hand on his hip as he tried again. "How-"That's enough, Harry." Remus said, before Sirius rose to his feet and left, a quiet sob sounded in the distance.
"You-Know-Who killed her, there's nothing more to it." Remus spoke before he walked after his best friend. The boy once more stared at the picture in front of him. The woman, Hecate, once again gave the camera a warm smile. Just as young Sirius planted another forcefull kiss on her cheek he could hear a loud rumble upstairs.
Sirius had just blown something to bits.

imagine that the one who actually killed dorcas was dumbledore. because voldemort took everything from her but dumbledore never got evan, barty and regulus help knowing what was happening to them and he did nothing to protect marlene and the rest of kids, literally fucking teenagers, who fought for his case. so she went and confronted him about him, so he started seeing her as a threat. like my girl would have him begging her for mercy for all that shit he pulled off

The girl with the silent smile
Tumblr media
Summary: she doesn't talk, she doesn't laugh, she listens and nods. But mostly, mostly she smiles, it's what Regulus likes about her, her smile, she never told him her name, so he just called her, the girl with the silent smile. He talked to her, she listened, when he couldn't talk, she waited, she waited without complaining.
Regulus Black x reader
Idea: so, I had this idea because I work in a coffee shop and I have a regular client who always calls me "the girl with the silent laugh" I changed it to smile, as I thought it was a wonderful title and then decided to make this story of it.
She/her pronounce
Warnings: mentions of death and murder, mention of cutting of a body part.

Regulus sighed as he was finally done with his classes for the day. As he wondered what he could do, he remembered the girl he met not long ago.
She hadn't spoke to him yet, but she listened and gave him a soft smile as he spoke. She was always at the same place, the seventh floor at the big window.
No one ever came there. People said it to be haunted, which Regulus thought was ridiculous because the entire school was haunted with ghosts, who -mostly- where kind and polite.
Though, people said the place was haunted in a bad way, two boys had almost died many years ago after breaking the glass, they said the thing attacking them was invisible. Ten years later a group of students dared to come there but as nothing happened, they painted on the wall and three escaped but one was badly injured and had to go to St. Mungos.
But it's where he had found her, over and over again, whenever he would come, she would be there, smiling at his arrival.
And just like every other time, she looked up at the sound of his food steps. He smiled at her and she gave him one back. "Good afternoon." He greeted, she gave a small nod in return.
"It surprised me that you always manage to be here whenever I am. I never see you anywhere else, what house are you in anyway?" He asked, yet she didn't answer, of course.
"Right, still no talking, shall I just talk then?" He asked and she nodded. He started telling stories, ignoring the cold he felt, as he started to get used to it, assuming it was because of winter and sitting near a window.
He told her about his day, about professor Binns being annoying as ever and about Barty jumping out of the window with charms 'to test if Wingardium Leviosa could make him fly' he had later told Regulus and Evan.
She had the brightest smile when Regulus told her this and she made a small noice, it's sounded like a giggle. She quickly stopped and he gave her an amused look.
She looked down a bit embarrassed and he chuckled slightly. "No need to be embarrassed, it was rather cute." He said and her cheeks flushed red.
He grinned and continued the story. She paid close attention and he suddenly noticed her eyes drifted to something behind him.
"Mister Black, Miss L/n." Nearly headless Nick greeted, she gave him a polite nod and Regulus flashed him a quick smile.
"L/n? Is that your last name?" He asked and she nodded. "Well it gives me at least one clue." He sighed and nearly headless Nick chuckled.
"I see you befriended dear Y/n here, no one ever talks to her, I think she likes you." He said. "You know her?" Regulus asked.
"Oh yes, she's been here for centuries." Nick nodded. "Centuries?" Regulus frowned and then looked at Y/n. "She's dead?" He realised and Nick nodded while the girl just looked sad.
"Yes, poor thing was murdered, it was believed she was killed by her own brothers after she had refused their needs. They cut out her tongue before they did it." Nick shook his head in sadness and disgust.
"But- but you look so... Alive." Regulus said, not realising it might be a bit offending. The girl just shrugged and suddenly turned transparent. "I didn't know ghosts could do that." Regulus pointed out.
"Most can't, no, but few are able to, her being one of them." Nick told him.
Regulus didn't think anything different of the girl and continued to visit her over the years he spent at school. He had talked about his home life, and when he got the dark mark, he showed her and she had comforted him the best she could as he sobbed.
Sometimes, she left her place on the seventh floor to visit him wherever he might be at that moment.
On his last day he had also come. "I came to say goodbye." He told her and her smile dropped. "I promise to visit you, I'll come back the moment the dark Lord is defeated." He whispered softly.
She nodded and gave him a smile, a last smile. It was not happy, as it was most of the times, this time it was sad, though still hopeful as he had promised to come back to her.
Regulus thought back to this interaction as he stood at the Cliffs Of Moher. He hadn't gone back, he had promised he would come back.
He took a deep breath in and stepped inside, Kreacher close by him. He would make it out alive, he would visit her.
She waited for him, she supposed it would take a while, but months turned into years and years turned into decades.
Sir Nickolas had told her to stop waiting. "He died, Y/n dear. It's all over the daily prophet and big news, even around the school." He explained, yet, she believed Regulus would come back, because he had promised he would, and Regulus, he never broke his promises.
She lost track of how long it had been as she sat at the window, looking outside and seeing the students make their way across the ground. Pushing each other and laughing. Hurrying to classes and clutching books to their chests.
Some chased their pets that had run away, some followed each other around, others preferred to keep to themselves, always keeping themselves small and their head low.
Yet, this was not what Y/n was looking for. No she was looking for the black haired Slytherin, though he'd probably be older then she remembered. She never lost hope that he'd return, she always believed he'd come back, just like he had told her he would.
She was still waiting, her hopes getting higher and higher as weird things happened at Hogwarts, she heard whispers of Voldermort and a boy named Harry Potter.
Potter... she had heard that name before. Regulus had mentioned it when he talked about his brother, about how much he missed his brother and how jealous he was of that Potter boy.
Soon, the story was that Voldemort had returned. Y/n noticed that suddenly, there where less students on the grounds. And which students there where, most of them weren't so happy as they once where, she never saw someone travel alone anymore, they where always together, and pets, they where never on the run anymore as the kids kept a closer eye on them.
Students who where normally happy and giddy, where now sad and worn out. Some students disappeared. Only a day ago she had seen two girls sobbing as they walked past.
'That's weird' she had thought to herself. 'Where is their other friend? They where always with the three of them...'
It was late as Y/n watched the grounds, a few birds had landed. Exploring the large grass field.
Suddenly she heard sobbing and she turned to the source of the sound and saw a boy, he was a bit older then when Regulus had just found her, he had blonde hair and grey eyes -which where full of tears- he frowned a bit at her and then narrowed his eyes.
"Who are you?" His voice was demanding. It reminded her of the time Regulus found her sitting alone. "And who are you supposed to be?" He had questioned in a sceptical tone of voice.
She gestured the boy to sit down, supposing inviting him to sit with her at the window was the best option, to watch the students- or well, birds at the moment- and to talk to her.
He introduced himself as Draco Malfoy,
She smiled at him.
