Harry doing anything with the smee twins.

Hi there! Another one of those, a bit later, but still! Harry and the Smee twins!

By this time, the Smees have been in Auradon for a fortnight and Harry for about a week, because canon timeline is a suggestion, as we all know. And they get ice cream! Harry doesn’t kill anyone!

Anyway, I hope you like this!

„I'm going out with the Smee twins, Uma,“ Harry announces and walks over to her, to kiss her on the cheek. Because they are in Auradon and they can do that now.

She hums noncommittally in answer, so he continues speaking:

„They wanted to get ice cream with me, you know? Can't let them down.“

She chuckles, finally looking at him.

„Don't forget to pay for it,“ she says, amused.

Pay for it…?

Oh. Right. In Auradon, one must actually pay for stuff, instead of looking menacing, taking what one desires and occasionally running like all of hell was chasing you, and Harry doesn’t want to be a bad example for the twins.

Which is a shame, as he rather excelled at the previous way of life and „shopping“.

On the other hand, the Isle didn’t have ice cream, or, you know, food, clean water, basic health care supplies and stuff, so, yeah, paying it is. With not-knockoff cash, at that!

„Won’t forget,“ he promises as he exits the room and grabs his cloak. He should have his wallet there somewhere-

He pats on his pockets to make sure and ignores Uma’s laugh.

He then heads up to the twins' dorm, to pick them up; they run up to him before he even opens the door, and he isn’t surprised that much, really. He is quite proud that they can make out his step-pattern, if he is being honest.

„Hiya, mates,“ he greets them, „How are you doing? You ready for an adventure?“

They answer with enthusiastic „Ahoy“ and equally thrilled nodding; he lets them lead the way and encourages them to tell him more about how their experience at Auradon Prep was so far, fully prepared to hook anyone who would pick at them.

Even if Uma said he shouldn’t actually hook people in Auradon… Well, she didn’t say anything about skinning them alive, slowly cutting off their sticky fingers or just generally leaving them to feed the fish. Besides, she‘d surely make a tiny little exception, if needed…

It’s not needed, though, as it turns out. Everyone in Auradon has been almost annoyingly nice to the Smee twins.

Shame. He hasn’t had a proper fight in almost a week.

Oh, and Calista tried to take them to see the Skull Rock and on a proper pillaging foray, but he is not hooking his little sister. He might take off with her for a bit, though. The Skull Rock sounds infinitely more interesting than Remedial Goodness, from what the twins are saying.

They arrive to a road, which has a good number of actual cars practically racing on it, and Harry absentmindedly grabs the boys’ hands.

„Don’t run into the traffic,“ he reminds them, and maybe a tiny bit to himself, too. It’s not his fault that waiting for a green light on a crosswalk is so terribly boring and, well, Bore-radonian.

Finally, they stand on a small plaza, and the twins drag him to their favourite sweet-shop. Apparently, they have a favourite sweet-shop now. And favourite ice cream flavour. Good for them.

„How often have you been there?“ he asks, amused.

„Oh, only about fifteen times!“

Sounds reasonable enough to Harry. Even if they’ve only been there for a fortnight. Who paid for all of that candy, though…? They haven’t been stealing it, have they?

Guessing correctly where his thoughts are running, they assure him that they get an allowance from the Fairy Godmother, and that Ben has taken them a few times. Paid, too, of course.

Harry decides that the boy-king probably isn‘t the worst sort, after all.

They enter the shop and Harry glares at the tingling chimes above his head for a moment: They are crafted to resemble a rose-in-bloom and petals falling all around it. Harry hates its symbolism to Beast’s story – he hates Beasts, too – and the cheerful noises it makes. Each tiny ring feels like it's poking right into his skull.

When he tears his glare of the irritating thing, the twins are already by the counter and receiving their treats. Harry must say that the ice cream here sure does look good-

„What will you get?“ one of the boys asks.

Harry looks over the options, uncertain. Hell, he doesn‘t even recognize most of the flavours! How is he supposed to choose, when he hadn’t even tasted a fresh fruit until a week ago?! When he grew up on the Isle, where everything tasted like salt, blood, lost dreams, and rotten reminders of the past he never knew and the future that never could be––

„The red one,“ he settles finally, „Not the strawberry one, the other red one.“

The shopkeeper looks at him, confused, as there are at least three other different red flavours, but Harry just shrugs. He wants the red one, that‘s what he said.

„Why don’t you choose for me, lads?“ he tells the twins, and they immediately start arguing over the best red flavours. He smiles at them and orders a black coffee to sip as he waits. He receives sugar, milk, and even a small cookie with it, but he ignores it. Harry Hook takes his coffee black as his soul, thank you for asking.

He doesn’t protest, though, when Squeaky turns away from the argument for a moment and dumps the entire sugar-package to the cup with a giant grin on his face. He must have gotten that from CJ.

With half of the improved sweetened coffee drunk, the twins finally settle on getting him a raspberry ice-cream, which, notes Harry, has almost the same colour as his cloak.

And it tastes great, too!

He looks at the treat with new appreciation.

„I should get one for Uma and Gil,“ he decides, „Wouldn’t it all melt, though? Before we get home?“

„No! You see–"

He leans back contently as the twins explain take-away cooling-boxes, chasing away the bitter resentment of „they had this, this luxury, the whole time, while we lived on trash-“

But such thoughts are of no matter now. Uma, Evie, Harriet, and some other Isle and Auradon leaders are working on making things right for the first time in over two decades. And meanwhile:

„Will you help me choose the ice cream for them, then?“

Descendants in the Heroes and Villians part 1;

Summary; this is part of a revised series I did awhile back for my 'Twist in their tales' ouat and descendants crossover set in the heroes and villains verse. There will be more in the future.

Hero and Villians verse Jonas! He's still the son of Lewis (one of Captain Hook's men) and Morganna (Urusla's sister) but things are slightly different in this relam. Instead of working for Captain Hook in this relam, Jonas's dad works for Blackbeard who is in charge of the Jewel/Jolly Roger here and treats deckhand!hook terribly. Which Jonas resented him for and it was one of the reasons Jonas ran away-- taking the other kids of the ship (Harry) with him. Jonas's mother never turned evil here and neither did his aunt, so they stayed the princesses of the Posideon's kingdom. Which lead to Jonas and the other kids running to them, and by extension, Jonas's cousin, Uma. He soon became the quartermaster and 4th in command of Uma's crew, who run the rebellion against the evil snow white as pirates.

Heroes and Villians verse Claire! Claire is the child of Claudette and an unknown man. She's Gil's cousin turned pirate who runs around with Uma and her crew and She's the ship's carpenter. She is the one who passes information Gil provides them onto Uma and Harry. She is very helpful in the rebellion and hopes to help Gil escape from his life as a noble hunter so that he can join their crew along with his secret lover, Prince Chad. The locked away son of Evil snow white and evil charming.

Heroes and Villians verse Bonny! She's the daughter of Bill Jukes (a pirate who is apart of Captaina Hook's crew in the main relam and who is apart of Blackbeard's crew in this relam) and a tavern wench. She ranaway for similar reasons to Jonas with him and never looked back. Like all of the kids, Uma has earned her unquestioned loyalty. She is the physician/medic of the crew.

Heroes and Villians verse Gonzo! He's the son of Joashmee Gibbs and an unknown woman who have both passed, and he grew up with Uma, since she's the daughter of his father's missing captain. She has his loyalty before either of them could even talk and that's not gonna change anytime soon. He's the boatswain of the lost revenge's crew.

Hero and Villians verse Desiree! She's the daughter of Shaun Yu and Su Daji (or Daji for short also in case if you didn't know: Daji is a villainess from a Chinese novel called "The Investiture of the Gods") and because of this, she is very versed in magic and warfare in both her original relam and in this cursed one. In both relams, she ran away from home with her brother Simon and turned pirate. But instead of joining Hook's crew at a young age Like she did in the 'a twist in their tales ' verse, she ran across Uma and joined her growing crew. Uma earned her loyalty by showing the humanity that both of Desiree's parents and many pirates lacked. She is the gunner of the ship and she is very skilled at it.

Hero and Villians verse Squeaky and Squrimy! They're the twin sons of first mate Mollie and her husband, William Smee, who died in the heroes and villains relam after getting on the Queen's badside. Their brother, Sammy, was forced to join the queen's army to protect them and ended up dying, leaving them alone.. Uma soon found them and made them apart of her crew. They're the powder monkeys/cabin boys of her crew and they do their job well, following their Captain's every order. They, like every other member of Uma's crew, hope to overthrow the evil snow white and her knight Charming so that their son can become king and fix what his parents' broke. And if he ends up with Gil, than who are they to complain?

The lost revenge and her crew. She's Uma's ship and home to Uma's crew.

Or even not Celia - Dizzy and the Smee twins, because if anyone needs tips for how to survive the Isle, it’s them.

Although that might be how Celia managed in the first place.

"Samson Smee?" Ben asks, tapping the name on the list. “Is he related to Captain Hook’s sidekick?”

Evie leans closer on instinct. She doesn’t need to see the paperwork to know who Sammy is, but it’s a habit now to press close to Ben and tilt her head just-so to see the paper lists and forms when they’re working on VK matters together. It a comfort, to know that she’s not in this fight alone, and Ben certainly hasn’t complained about the increased contact with his girlfriend’s girlfriend. “Yes. He goes by Sammy. He's probably not going to want to come over without his brothers, but we can still make the offer."

"Can we bring the brothers?"

The last time Evie saw the littlest Smee children, they were sobbing over a pirate’s body before the adult crew members tipped them over the harbor for the sharks to take their share. They couldn’t have been more than seven or eight years old, and what Evie remembers the most is the way their tears had carved clean tracks out of the dirt on their faces.

She hums her consideration. “They're young. Elementary age, maybe ten or so now. I think they'd be okay to come, but they're shy, and I'm not sure how they'd do at school. As families go, I think all the Smee boys would do well in terms of goodness integration, but they may be difficult to integrate on a social level unless they can come over with someone they already know."

"Alright. Who do you think they'd do well with?"

Their father.

“Their father,” Evie says, bitingly, before she reigns her tongue back in again. Not that it matters around Ben, who is handsome and kind and just listens when Evie needs to shout at somebody about the horrible unfairness of it all, but it’s good practice. She’s a politician now, just like her mother wanted. She’s got to be the best, because she’s an isle brat, and she cannot afford to make mistakes. Anything she says, anything she does wrong will reflect on the isle as a whole, so she’s got to be flawless. She will prove herself not just for her mother’s sake, but because she’s got a thousand hungry kids waiting for her to mess up and snip their only thread of hope at getting off the isle. “But that’s exactly the problem. Sammy has a crew, but the twins just tag along with him or their father all the time, and I don't think Auradon Prep, or any other high school for that matter, wants to have a pair of kids following their new high school student everywhere,” Evie sighs. She’s so fucking tired. “We have schools on the isle, obviously, but Sammy doesn’t attend very often. The pirates usually stick with their ships and learn what they need from the older members of their crews. It’s not a traditional Auradon education, but the pirates are actually some of the better educated kids on the isle. It works for them, but it won’t work if we bring them here.”

Ben puts a warm hand on her arm. It’s all Evie can do not to sink into the touch. She’s so, so tired of this. Of begging for any scrap they can get. Any concession to the norm comes at the price of another sliver of her own sanity, it feels like, and there’s so many children who won’t be able to handle the pressure of Auradon Prep, who will need more exceptions than the system is set up to give them, who won’t be able to thrive without the attention that nobody is able to give them.

“We can ask the charter school,” Ben says softly. “There's integrated schools, all ages sort of places. My mother’s village has one. We can reach out. She provides a grant each year, they might decide they own me a favor.”

Evie presses into his touch. Gods below, but it’s nice to have somebody who knows better than her the networks of favors and family histories that keep the kingdom governments running. “Or if we could find a family who would be willing to keep them together and send them to separate day schools, they might get used to being on their own like that,” Evie suggests. “Sort of slow and steady. A gradual break.”

Ben makes a note, a shorthand scribble on the side of his list. Evie’s eyes are swirling too much to read it exactly, but she knows their code. Foster family, special education, sibling unit. That’s what they need to know in order to place the Smee boys. A whole life, reduced down to three shorthand scribbles. “That could work. What are the brothers called?"

Evie laughs, exhausted. “Squeaky and Squirmy, but I believe their birth names are Sawyer and Simon. They're not bad kids, they're just shy. They would do better here, I think. Where there’s less adults around to bully them into staying quiet.”

Ben slips his hand up her arm, around her shoulders, pulls until she can rest her head on the side of his own. He’s warm and sturdy and if they weren’t in the middle of important work, Evie could fall asleep just like this. And then cause a scandal when the service staff come in to wake them both up, and find the young king sleeping on a girl who is not his girlfriend, no matter how many interests and people they share between them.

"We can ask. If Sammy's willing to come over without them, who do you think we could bring with him?"

"Anthony. Dizzy's cousin. They run with the same crew, and they'd do well together. I would say that we should bring over Harriet, but knowing her, she's not going to come over unless we can get the rest of her crew out first, and she's got one of the biggest crews on the isle."

Ben skims the list of kids, running his pen down the side as he goes. “Harriet?"

She’s not on the list.

“Hook,” Evie explains. “She’s one of the eldest pirate kids. We didn’t add her to the list because she won’t come until we can bring her crew with her, and we can’t promise that yet.”

“Hook.” Ben echoes, voice flat. “As in—?”

He’s encountered Harry, and came away with almost as much vitriol for him as Mal.

Evie presses herself closer to him, so that he can feel her heat, and maybe remember that they’re in her office, not the wet deck of a ship. That he’s not tied to a mast, waiting to die anymore. “Yes. There are three Hook kids, and they all hate each other. We only hate Harry, the middle one, so Harriet and CJ are our allies. Sort of an enemy-of-our-enemy kind of thing."

"Harry's the one who's involved with Uma.” Ben says, so softly that Evie can barely hear the words. “The one who tried to kill me.”

"Yes. He's....” Evie hesitates. She’s safe to hesitate here, in her own little office that smells like citrus wood polish and old papers. She doesn’t have to preform just for Ben, because she can trust him. Her sweet, kind king.

Trust doesn’t mean she wants to tell him everything. Understatement is a tool that Evie is well practiced at wielding, so she lets herself close her eyes, and forges ahead. “He’s a lot. We don't like him."

Ben smiles, small and sweet and almost sad. "I take it there's a history there?"

"Just a bit." Evie agrees. "There's been a few incidents."

"Would it be useful for me to know?"

Evie breathes in, and out, and relaxes her shoulders in an attempt to let go of the anger that she's still holding in her body. "I suppose so. Yes."

"Do you want to tell me?"

Honesty is the foundation of good relationships. "No."

Ben nods. He's too good to them. "You could tell me later. If you'd like."

The memory of blood spills over Evie's hands. The slippery, awful feeling of insides that were never supposed to become outsides against her leather gloves. The gritty feeling of dirt in her eyes that she can't rub out, blown up from the shattered crates they'd been aiming to take back from the pirates. The blood though, that's the part that she can't forget. She's been a medic since she first started sneaking out of her mother's house, but she's usually restricted herself to broken arms and legs and noses, some shallow stitches, fever medication, abortifacients and concussion care for the kids who can't take the dubious mercy of the barrier's spell. She's done medications for the kids who cared to try them, all sorts of poultices and remedies for the ailments that are within her power to fix.

She's never been able to fix someone once they start bleeding out.

She knows the theory of it. Blood transfusions, tourniquets, ways of stopping arteries without killing the patient. The problem is that she's never had to do it firsthand, because they've always known that the spell on the barrier was there to catch them before they died for real. The spell heals the killing blows, so it's easier to lean into the death than it is to staunch critical bleeding. Evie's killed kids herself, those who wouldn't die quick enough on their own, so that they could have the mercy of the barrier and the spell healing them back into a body marginally less broken than the one they'd left from.

"He killed us." Evie manages, around the memory of blood spilling up from her throat. "They made it a game. Him and Uma and their crew. We killed each other."

They've told Ben enough. He can figure out the rest, and he's smart and good and kind, so he does, and she can see him go white when he figures it out.

If you were to re write the whole Descendants trilogy, how would you do it? And which characters would you put in there and who would you get rid of?

Honestly? Not gonna lie, I don't know how I would fix this mess of a trilogy. First film is maybe okay outside of a few changes being needed, but for second and third films? Yeah, not sure how I'd fix that mess really.

#like I know i rewrit the third film at some point but i cant find it on my blog #and also cant remember what i said really on the film #but uh....i guess i'd remove the smee twins in third film lmao #sorry but they really had nothing to contribute and only had ONE line #way too easy to remove and replace with other VKs like i dunno #jays and carlos' cousins???? gives them a plot in film at least

Note

For the Descendants kids with horrible and trashy names, how would you name them? From books and movies.

So I'll just go ahead and give how I changed each name for My Canon Descendants AU, to make them feel more like their own character/fit better with the og movies time periods/cultures. I didn't give them all unique names as the point of the project was to translate the Descendants kids into the actual movies, not make full OCs, (though I did end up making a few of those anyway xD) but I tried to at least adjust them.

Mal--Mallow (to go with the Nature name theme the Three Good Fairies had going on with their own names/Briar Rose)

Audrey I kept as it was actually a Medieval name!

Evie-- Eva, it's a pretty easy fix to more period accurate/Germanic sounding

Doug -- Doleful, to fit better with the Dwarfs Attribute names, plus he seemed kinda down in the first movie so the meaning felt like it fit

Carlos I kept because honestly I felt like it could fit in universe if Cruella's husband was a Spanish man, which he conceivabley could be

Jay--Jaamil, and no not because of Twisted Wonderland that just happened by accident xD

They orginally had Aladdin's deleted sin be named Aziz but there was already an Aladdin character named that in the TV show who was a villain so I changed it to Ahmed, like one of the other Arabian Nights heroes

Ben--I changed from Benjamin to Benedict as that was more French/period appropriate

Honestly I could 100% see Gaston naming his sons after himself so I kept Gastons 1 and 2 but I changed Gil to Gilbert (French pronunciation of course)

Lonnie...oh Lonnie. I changed her name to Chi, as with her patronymic of Li she would be Li Chi, which sounded similar to Lonnie but would actually be Chinese and is the name of a girl in a Chinese legend who slays a dragon, which was what I based her hypothetical movie plot on

Chad I changed to Charles, easy enough. Much more elegant and formal

Jane I just changed to Janet to make it a little fancier/Frenchier as well xD

Dizzy I changed to Daisy (though I suppose since she's French based, it really should be Marguerite...eh Daisy can be the nickname)

Uma I kept cuz honestly its a good name and her song is a banger 👌

Harry is fine, good pirate name, short for Henry, which also works. Harriet was fine too, just made her and Harry twins and made CJ go by her first name only of Calista.

Honestly with a pirate dad named Smee Squeeky and Squirmy also work, though they're definitely nicknames.

Celia works fine, it fits with the time/culture of 1920s New Orleans, though I did change Freddie to Frederique.

Getting into some book characters now:

Artie I changed to Amhar, a lesser known son of Arthur (could have done Mordred but as the kid was meant to be heroic I decided to go with Amhar, plus it started with A x)

Mad Maddy honestly isn't a bad name, but I did change it to Matilda to be a bit more Medieval sounding, plus linked her to Matilda of the Night, a Medieval witch legend.

(And apparently there's gonna be a son of Morgana Le Fay in the new movie named... Morgie. My gosh. Well we'll change that right back to Yvain. Her actual son, no she's not Mordred's mother no matter what the movies try to tell you she's his aunt and I will die on this pedantic hill)

Hadie I instantly changed to Zagreus. He's the literal son of Hades and goodness its such a better name. Same with changing Herkie to Hyllus. Also an actual son of Hercules and doesn't sound like a euphemism for throwing up.

Allie I changed to Mary Jean after the Real Alice's grandaughter, and when I made my Queen of Hearts Kid D4 hadn't been announced yet so I named her Aceline (a pun on Ace of Hearts)

Ruby and Anxelin weren't terrible names so I kept them, just made Anxelin a Dark Kingdom name xD (and apparently they're giving Rapunzel a third daughter in the new movie? Her name is just Zellie though...so I think I'll just keep these two. Zellie could definitely work as being short for Anxelin and hey, Rapunzel had twins in the actual fairytale so two just works)

Wrapping it up:

Claudine isnt too bad and fits the time period but I changed her parent from Frollo to his brother Jehan cuz that man should never ever get to be with any woman.

Clay Clayton I changed to Cecil after the actual Clayton character in the books who wasn't that bad of a guy.

Yzla works fine as a name for Yzma's daughter. I just changed Zevon to Yzon to match better and not sound so much like he escaped the 23rd century

Ginny Gothel I just lengthened out to Ginevra to sound more fantastical

I didn't actually do anything for Pocahontas as it always kinda controversial to touch. But if I did I'd of course just make her descendant her actual son Thomas Rolfe and apparently they gave Ratcliffe a son named Rick? So...we'll change his name to Richard or--well one sec let me see if Actual Historical Governor Ratcliffe had any kids.

OK! Looks like he didn't but he did die horribly. My Gosh.

...*Each* character???? bruh thats so many, okay ill keep this short cuz im waiting for a haircut rn

well start with the vks cuz thats easy

Mal-started off strong and then just became...THE WORST, love hate relationship for her. shes my art block fix but also i hate her

Jay-i dont have strong opinions on him, he actually never stuck out to me other than 'obligatory jock dude of the friend group.' i wish i liked him more but im more attached to his fandom self over canon Jay

Evie-got boring after D1, i wish they let her keep her chemistry stuff, love her vibe but shes kinda boring to me. SHOULD'VE BEEN THE MC OVER MAL!!

Carlos- lots of lost potential with his tech stuff from the first book and movie. easily could've been an engineer or inventor but they just made him an animal lover and i got bored of that real quick.

Uma-my queen, my idol, can do no wrong i love her so much i WILL kill for her.

Harry-i love his dumbass so much YALL DONY EVEN KNOW I WANNA BITE HIM SO BAD

Gil-one of the few characters i felt actually...grew up? idk but hes one of the few characters were it actually feels like time passed for.

Celia- they should've gone with her trailer persona. Her outfits are so bad and i wish she got better writing and designs, so much lost potential, also she should've been Jays pick.

Smee twins- why the fuck are they even here they had one line and no significance. also they should've had a Harry scene.

Aks

Ben-puppy boy, deserved to have doberman energy. got turned into a doormat by the writers and is unfairly hated.

Audrey-bitch queen, shes not a nice person and thats okay~ girlboss.

Chad- should've been the D3 villan they had that all set up in D2 with his weird ass attitude over Ben getting kidnapped on the isle.

Doug -....honestly gives me the ick, especially in D3, i HATE the long hair his actor had/has. gold is NOT his color and neither is pastel purple or green. he looked good in D1 but ICK for 2 and 3.

Jane- bby gurl, blue bird sweetheart. yeah she did some fucked up shit in D1 but she was an insecure 14 year old girl who got manipulated by Mal and other aks!!!

Lonnie- deserved so much better, shes Chinese why is she getting Japanese style stuff?!?! her plot in D2 didnt even do anything it just happened and no one cared and Jay just shoved his problems of girls playing roar onto her.

Beast- *inhale* i wanna kick his ass, and i could, lemme at him. how dare he force an entire kingdom on Ben at 16 when he didnt become king when he was 28(when he married Belle)

Belle- they took away her backbone, shes not Disney princess book worm and independent Belle. she just, lost the spark

FG- they turned her into a preschool teacher, GIVE ME MY OL COOKY FAIRY LADY BACK

Maleficent- fuckin love her, shes such a manipulative bitch and feels like a gone crazy version of a Maleficent made for kids. def not the mistress of all Evil but i love her nonetheless

EQ- shouldve been the head villain, SHE WAS THE FIRST DISNEY VILLAIN CMON! def not the same character from the animated movie but shes dramatic and sassy and i adore her.

Jafar- haha funny characature~ i wish he was more menacing like he had been. Jafar is not one of my fav villains so descendants jafar didnt exactly translate for me well.

Cruella- yeah they nailed her, no complaints about her. good design, good dialogue, good acting.

Hades- LEMME KICK HIS DEAD BEAT ASS, fucking 'daddy issues made you stronger' my butt. i hate his hair and honestly he doesnt fit the washed up punk design, he didnt deserve the speech at the end and didnt deserve to be forgiven by Mal.

Ursula- we only saw her tentacle and one line but she seemed spot on so yeah

Lady Tremaine- why the fuck was she nice in D3??? bitch is the EVIL stepmother.

Smee- spot on, i have words for his sons designs becuaee hes old not naturally white haired but hes chill, makes sense hed be a good parent, he never felt evil to me, just compliant

Facilier- such a vibe, his actor got him spot on, would've changed up his suit design but hes chill and i can see him being a family man(ignoring wicked world).

Somewhat graphic descriptions of injury, isle-related violence. Not actually that dark despite this.

"Dizzy," Evie asks sweetly. "You've been on the isle more recently than us. Do the twins..."

She trails off meaningfully.

Dizzy blinks up at her like a little red-headed bobble toy. "Do they what? I was thinking about the best ways to starch cobweb lace into shape for a hair bow and I think I stopped listening at the end there. Sorry. What did they do now?"

Oh, little Dizzy. Never change.

Mal puts down her spoon, and actually swallows her mouthful of cereal, instead of talking with her mouth open and full, because despite her insinuations otherwise she is aware that it's a disgusting habit and Evie hates it. "Do they talk, Diz? Because from where we are, it looks like they've been here for a week, and the only people we've seen them talk to is each other."

They do talk!" Dizzy says quickly, putting down her own spoon as well. "Just. Not to other people."

Great. Perfect. They'll have a great time explaining that one to Fairy Godmother. Their new kids, who are supposed to be a hand-picked selection of model citizens, fresh from the ferocious claws of Harriet Hook herself, only talk to each other. That'll go over great, Mal's sure of it. Nothing at all to make FG absolutely nutty there.

Still. Mal's old and wise now, and the twins' issues aren't Dizzy's fault.

"Do they talk to you, Diz?" she asks, trying to emulate Evie's sweet tone. "We thought maybe they like you better than us."

Dizzy frowns. Her whole face scrunches up when she does it. It's cute, but it's also a reminder that they have got to get that girl a new pair of glasses that aren't so broken they're falling off her face. Maybe there's a special Auradon glasses store out there somewhere, where they'll be able to achieve one of Evie's lifelong dreams and get glasses that are actually cute and functional for Dizzy.

And maybe sheep will fly, and the twins will start talking, and they'll all get a pony.

Dizzy pushes her glasses back up her nose with a practiced flick of her fingers. "Well, no. They used to talk to me more, but... Evie, do we have to talk about it?"

"We want to make sure they can communicate with us, Diz."

Dizzy sighs. Her sharp little elbows are resting on the table, which is another thing they're going to have to train her out of before the fall. Fairy Godmother is nuts about table manners. "They used to talk more, but there was a fight in March between Hook's crew and Harriet's crew, and it got so loud that a bunch of the unaffiliated pirates decided it was their problem to shut them all up before they all started burning buildings again, so they stepped in with their swords, which were fresh out of Gaston's fight club, the one he fired Gil from, remember?"

"I remember.”

Spirits bolstered by the acknowledgement, Dizzy nods, and flicks her glasses up her nose again. "So their swords were really sharp, and Mister Smee, he's the one who always tries to step between pirates and talk them down when they're getting loud, because he knows how mean the neighborhood is. But this time, the unaffiliated gang didn't let him get a word in, and they--" She stops. "Do I have to say it? I don't want to remember."

Mal looks to Evie, who shrugs, and looks back to Dizzy again. They're not really equipped to deal with something so bad that even Dizzy won't talk about it, but if they don't know what they're dealing with, they're not going to be able to make a plan of action. "You can summarize."

"They made him into meat." Dizzy says bluntly, shuddering. "It was awful. Like sausages were spilling out of him, only it was just guts, and I had to go wash the blood off the front steps after, because Harriet dragged him out and brought him to the house, because she knows that Anthony keeps a guts needle in the house, and the twins were there when they were stitching him back up, and I don't think they saw everything that happened, but they were there when-- when he started dying for real, and I think that's when they stopped talking to other people."
