As a retail worker, I relate to Clerks so much. Retail isn't all awful and it genuinely wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the customers.

Brian O'Halloran perfectly portrays the pure distain of being a retail worker called in on their day off, when they've already had plans and major life events happen while working.

Kevin Smith lived it, wrote it and directed it. He's seen how weird, rude and just absolutely shitty people are. Kevin comes off very kind and down to earth (so does Brian) and I think that's because of his time dealing with the general public.

Happy 30th anniversary, Clerks!

Earlier this year, Kevin Smith (of Clerks fame) bought an old movie theater in his hometown of Atlantic Highlands, NJ. In one of the biggest events since the theater was opened under the name Smodcastle Cinemas, Kevin hosted An Evening With George R.R. Martin at the venue.

The event was officially filmed and posted at YouTube.

Both Kevin and GRRM were born and raised in New Jersey. And now both are moviehouse owners; GRRM has owned the Jean Cocteau Cinema in Santa Fe, New Mexico since 2013. 

The 90+ minute conversation is NOT limited to Game of Thrones. Geeks and aspiring writers in particular will find it interesting.

Yesterday I checked something off my bucket list I didn’t even realize was on it. Since I was in Jersey I swung by the #quikstop of #clerks and @thatkevinsmith fame. The actual clerks were super nice, and didn’t mind me being a mega tourist and messing with eggs lol. Also bought my first controlled substance, and unironically bought a bunch of #gatorade which THEY brought up was also in the movie. Sadly they must have demolished the Quiker Stop across the street.
