i do like those videos where they make watercolors out of makeup but i rlly hope no one actually tries to use them for serious peices bc i appriciate the art form of paint making and i love the idea of recycling pigments that are expired but. there is a bit of an archival concern there considering makeup pigments aren’t designed for exposure to light beyond a few hours and fillers and binders used in makeup can contain a lot of oils and other additions that are gr8 for your skin but not so much for paper. and also i shouldnt have to say this but please avoid using used makeup for paintmaking its just not. very sanitary lol. i know its going on paper but that doesnt mean theres not a bit of a cross contamiation concern with skin cells and oil since that can degrade paper.

Why Cult PSA is actually a great social commentary
-
Okay so if anyone outside of the fandom finds this, which probably won’t happen because we basically exist in a vacuum, hi! Cult PSA, or cpsa is this really weird series of low quality videos depicting some characters (presumably at least two are under 18, so keep that in mind), and these characters run/are a part of a cult trying to get you to join. The videos themselves are bizarre and rather funny, with some form of lore I’ll explain to newbies in a different post.
But like I said, that’s a different post.
Most of the “fandom” (it’s like five people lmao) is mostly there for the obscurity and memes, but I think cpsa is actually in its core a social commentary, and may be deeper than just shock value and weirdness.
Cpsa heavily featured themes of escapism and religious guilt. One of the main characters known literally as The Messiah, the wide-eyed nonhuman entity that runs this barely-functioning cult, is often referring to a higher power known as The Stars. If we are to take this character literally, they are presumably a god stuck on earth in a human body. In the “cpsa is a social commentary” lense, I think The Messiah represents unreality, or escaping from your reality.
The other main character is Jawn. He’s 17 and heavily implied to be trans, and he was hinted at being kidnapped from a Girl Scouts meeting (???). He’s odd, and at first you may think he’s in danger with the way The Messiah threatens him, he’s actually high-ranked and secretly respected by them. Jawn is finding your own reality.
He’s not really a main character, but the third most occurring character is Hawkeye, Jawn’s adopted brother that was possibly grown from a box??? The lore is really weird. He’s… a whole different post. I think he represents being unaware of reality.
This is all my interpretations, so take it all with a grain of salt. No matter whether or not cpsa is brilliant satire or something weirder, I’m choosing to interpret it in this way. To me it represents the social view around reality. But that is just me.
Anyway, to those who haven’t watched it, Cult PSA is weird and campy and weirdly entertaining, so I’ll link the official videos in a different post for those who want them. Reminder to new peeps, there’s a lot of controversy around Cult PSA so tread lightly. I heard a rumor that the creators are making an official account somewhere, but Idrk.
Stay weird!

Spiritual Narcissism (One-upping) Part 2
As usual, take my words with a grain of salt. These are my beliefs and concerns. If you find this offensive and send nasty comments, I won't care and block you.
--
I still think this modern era promotes and profits off of narcissism like no one's business...more than ever before.
The witchcraft community is definitely not immune. In fact, I arguably see a lot of it which is one of the reasons I'm usually not active in that said community. I just also feel it in my gut everytime I see certain claims and behaviors.
I think it took a sinister turn when it's fused in with one's sense of glorified inflated ego disguising itself being morally righteous. It's used to bully/abuse people instead of educating those whom are learning. It's a bad social parasite.
Even I am watching myself for any of these signs just in case. Anyone is susceptible to fall into it.
--
More examples of spiritual narcissism are:
-Taking advantage of others claiming you're a direct mouthpiece of some almighty, famous entity...and use their name to further your personal intentions. -Claiming you're the direct descendent of an almighty entity, and use that title to feel entitled to unquestionable respect.
-Demonizing other religions (Unless that religion glorifies abuse, kidnapping or murder -- duh)
-Spiritual Bypassing
-Downgrading someone's experiences or situation out of the extreme toxcity of "love and light." (I support the term "love and light," not the extreme side of it where it denies the shadow)
-Purity culture ("Culture ever changing and blending with other cultures at its margins. Cultures have never been hermetically sealed from one another, self-contained and exclusive of outside influences. Each one is necessarily a mixture or an agglomeration of its influences. A culture doesn’t spring to life fully formed, a platonic ideal that generated itself from nothing. Just as there is no such thing as a pure race or ethnic group, so are there no pure cultures, unmixed with others, their essence uncorrupted. The toxic extreme side of cultural appropriation breathes new life into old racist attitudes, discouraging us from finding new opportunities for cross-cultural dialogue and exchange." --DAVID S. D'AMATO
(Now, I'm not saying cultural appropriation is acceptable -- as long as you are respecting it and learning it for educational purposes, or you're properly initiated -- it's completely fine. Mocking that culture or religion is not.)
- Claiming certain types of entities/spirits like certain types of people with different sexual preferences or neurodivergent/typical qualities over others (I find this extremely, laughably shallow as it is untrue; common sense. In my experiences, your preferred orientation and neurological makeup has nothing to do with your personality, or being a likeable person for a group of entities/spirits; incel behavior for short)
-Coerce someone to put all spiritual healing over medical needs.
-Simply claiming your style of practice is better than others.
-Copying other people's specific crafts and claiming it as your own.
-Using your spirit team solely as an extension of yourself. -Gaslighting people to discredit their experiences as well as their sheer existence of being and identity -- and use fancy terms/acronyms to cover up its malicious intentions. This can fall under spiritual bypassing, and can fall under the same gaslighting category as people who delve too extremely into "love and light" and "New Age." (For example: "Suffering is not real, thus your experience of suffering isn't real. Dissolve your ego, you don't know anything about yourself.") -- (Guess what, the person in this example has a huge inflated ego, perhaps even narcissism. -Claiming what you do takes years, and higher frequency to master, claiming it's too profound for the masses and somehow you're above the rest in your endeavors, showing off you're without ego. (Guess what, this is an ironic sign of an inflated ego hiding in plain sight...and the only person who can't see it is the speaker)
----
There is more to come. More editing will be done.

So with Ice Queendom’s second-to-last episode on the horizon, I wanted to talk a bit about my more recent thoughts on it (don’t worry about spoilers, this isn’t really story-related).
I don’t dislike it as much as some other people do at this point...let’s just say that my expectations usually rise and fall along with the quality of whatever I’m watching. If I had seen all the ugly CGI and re-used animation immediately after the relatively higher-quality first three episodes, I’d probably be livid, too. But as it is now, I’m too jaded to feel betrayed. ^^;
To those of you who DO feel betrayed, though: I’m really sorry, and I hope you know that your high expectations weren’t in vain. It honestly could have been (and should have been) so much better.  Studio SHAFT can DEFINITELY do better; they’re not famous for no reason. I’ve seen their work myself in Puella Magi Madoka Magica...and if you liked the ideas that Ice Queendom presented but failed to deliver on, I’d honestly recommend that anime to you. Everyone compares IQ to Persona, and that’s definitely warranted, but it takes a lot of visual cues and concepts from MadoMagi, too. The Rebellion movie even has a plot very similar to that of Ice Queendom.
Anyway...it’s been pointed out that IQ feels like an anime movie that was stretched out to fill the runtime of an anime series, and I agree with that now. It’s clear at this point that they keep repeating the plot point of ‘get past Nega-Weiss and fight the Nightmare Grimm’ not out of any symbolic significance, but simply because they don’t have any other plot points to use.
It’s almost like someone originally wrote a normal story for Ice Queendom (Urobuchi, I guess), everything was set up to turn that story into a movie...and then at some point, a third party said “um actually I want a 12-episode anime series” and told the animation director to get it done with the exact same budget and timeframe. And also didn’t bother consulting the original writer about making the story longer.
To be honest (and take this with a grain of salt, because I have no real evidence) I suspect that Rooster Teeth’s management may have been behind this mess.
They themselves admit that RWBY is the main reason people still get First membership subscriptions, and those people often unsubscribe when RWBY goes on hiatus. So, with this huge gap between Vol 8 and Vol 9 (which they definitely anticipated way ahead of time) what better way to make sure people keep paying them than to pump out an anime series for them to look at in the meantime...?
An Ice Queendom movie could only premiere once; meanwhile a series would keep people subscribed for months. Whether or not the story needed a series or could even fill a series would be irrelevant.
Or even worse...the subscription money might be secondary to simply buying time. :/ Just working on Vol 9 and the Justice League crossover movie simultaneously could easily have their own animation team stretched to its very limit. They may simply be unable to release anything until further notice, and IQ is nothing more than a way to stay relevant.
I mean, just think: if it wasn’t airing right now, we would have gone for almost a year without any animated RWBY content or solid release dates to look forward to. Even with IQ going on (and the fan art I do), I almost forgot about the original series. Imagine how many more casual fans they could have lost in that time...
I don’t normally do this type of ‘conspiracy theorizing’, but (a) RT are the producers of IQ after all, (b) this sort of mismanagement isn’t exactly unheard of for them, and (c) I just know something had to go horribly, horribly wrong to make a talented team of animators shove something like THIS out for international broadcast.
I’ve seen an anime collapse due to production issues before-- I followed Wonder Egg Priority practically from its premiere. And even its complete faceplant was leagues more graceful and professional-looking than what’s going on with IQ now. WEP felt like it ran out of resources at the last minute; IQ feels like it ran out halfway through production. :[

National Homemade Bread Day
Invest in a bread maker or source a sourdough starter on Homemade Bread Day and bake delicious dough at home to meet all your flour and yeast “kneads”.
Sliced bread is undoubtedly a good thing – it saves time, and the effort of kneading. But it’s a real shame that so few people today get to enjoy the taste and yeasty deliciousness that is homemade bread.
And that’s where Home-Made Bread Day comes in!
History of National Homemade Bread Day
The origins of this particular Day are shrouded in mystery, but the history of bread obviously follows along with the history of humanity itself. Bread has been an important part of diet and culture and has appeared in pretty much every corner of the world in some form or another.
It is estimated that grains and cereals became an important part of the human diet long before bread came along. Bread, itself, is believed to have entered the scene perhaps as long as 10,000 years ago, during the Neolithic period in Europe. Some loaves of bread even from that long ago used the concept of retaining a piece of the previous day’s bread as a ‘starter’ in the fashion of sourdough bread.
In 79 AD, the tragic volcano eruption of Pompeii preserved the city’s ovens so that archeologists would later find them. It was discovered that the people from that time had access to bread that was baked in at least 33 different bakeries.
The invention of the bread-maker has taken a lot of the effort out of baking, meaning that there is no reason why everyone shouldn’t enjoy homemade bread, which is often of much higher quality than the stuff that can be bought in a shop. Home-baked bread is often healthier, higher in fiber, and lower in salt and additives than commercial varieties, and the recipe can be modified to suit the maker’s tastes, with grains, spices, or other additions.
No matter its form, homemade bread is absolutely delicious and deserves to be celebrated on this day!
How to Celebrate National Homemade Bread Day
National Homemade Bread Day is certainly a delicious day to enjoy! Celebrate by baking bread, eating bread, and sharing the day with a loved one. Here are some ideas for getting started:
Enjoy a Slice of Homemade Bread
It might be a full-fledged yeast bread that has been hand-kneaded to perfection, baked, then sliced, and toasted. Or it could be a variety of quick bread, such as biscuits, banana bread, or pumpkin bread. No matter what form it takes, make sure to get out a big knife, slice off a hunk of bread (or tear it off with your hands!), slather it with butter, cream cheese, or another topping, and enjoy its yummy goodness!
Make Homemade Bread
Some people can get a bit intimidated by the idea of making homemade bread. But they should remember that people have been doing this very thing in some form or another, in almost every household under the sun, for thousands of years!
Homemade bread really only requires the most basic of ingredients. A pile of strong flour, a dab of yeast, some oil, and possibly some other minor ingredients such as sugar or salt.
Homemade Bread Recipe
One super easy bread recipe calls for combining 3 ¼ cups of bread flour with 2 teaspoons instant yeast and 2 teaspoons coarse salt. Mix these together with 1 ½ cups of cool water and work with a wooden spoon or by hand until completely moistened.
Cover tightly and let it sit for 2-3 hours until almost doubled in size. Then, let it rest in the refrigerator for 12-72 hours. On a floured surface, shape into two loaves and let rest another 45 minutes. Bake at 475 F oven for 20-25 minutes.
Let it sit for just five minutes and then enjoy a delicious slice fresh out of the oven and slathered with butter!
Learn Fun Facts About Bread
Check out these fun facts related to bread and share them with friends or family members in honor of National Homemade Bread Day:
As a wartime conservation effort, ore-sliced bread was banned in the United States for a time in 1943, in an effort to allow other work to be done. As it turned out, it wasn’t very meaningful or helpful so it didn’t last.
In 2015, a loaf of bread baked at the Milan Expo in Italy was declared the largest in the world by the folks at Guinness World Records. It measured 400 feet long (122 meters) and was baked in a special oven. After baking, it was slathered with Nutella and served to the people at the Expo.
In Ancient Egypt, bread was so vital to the way of life and culture that it was sometimes used as a form of currency. They also were known to place it at the head of the tombs of their dead loved ones so that they would have access to it in their afterlife.
One Scandinavian tradition states that if a boy and a girl eat from the same loaf of bread, they are destined to fall in love with each other.
Buy a Bread Machine
Consider investing in a bread maker to include the vibe of homemade bread into your daily life. For those who aren’t sure if they will really use one, it’s a great idea to borrow a friend’s bread machine to try it out and get an idea of how it works and if it’s a realistic investment for your particular household.
Here are some suggestions for breadmakers on the market today, which might be worth checking out:
Oster Express Bake. For those on a tight budget or who are just trying it out, this is a great low-priced machine that will still provide a good loaf of bread at home. It bakes a 2-pound loaf at a time and offers a 13-hour programmable timer. It can even bake a loaf in under an hour!
Curtis Stone Bread Maker. This model is beloved by folks because of its ease of use. It can also make a 2-pound loaf and has 19 preset programs plus other adjustable settings.
Zojrushi Home Bakery Virtuoso. This higher-end bread maker looks great on the counter with its stainless steel finish. Double kneading blades and rapid courses are just a couple of the many features.
Share National Homemade Bread Day
The essence of this day is best when it is shared with others. Whether baking a loaf and taking it to the office for coworkers to share, taking a bread-baking class with friends, or hanging out with grandma to have her teach you how to bake bread, this is a delightful day to enjoy with others in the community.
Make the celebration even more fun by inviting a friend or family member to join in on the experience of making bread at home. They can help measure, mix and knead, or they can just be good company while waiting for the bread dough to rise! Now it’s time to get baking for Home-Made Bread Day!

Bread Tahdig Recipe (Crispy Persian Rice With Bread)
Tahdig is one of the good ideas to serve besides rice and it’s so crunchy and delicious. It makes your table nice and stylistic and is just lovely. Tahdig is the part of the polo that sticks to the pot bottom and gets finely crispy and toasted. Tahdigs of different kinds including bread tahdig, potato tahdig and tahdig with yoghurt and saffron are popular in Iran.
I suggest that when cooking rice, make your food much more delicious and attractive with this bread tahdig. It only takes a minute or two to put tahdig in the pot you’re going to make steamed rice with and then you can enjoy the persian rice with bread crust.
Persian polo is made in two ways: Abkesh (use colander) and Kateh. In this post, I’m going to explain how to cook rice by Abkesh or Ashpali method. The recipe of bread tahdig (Persian rice with bread crust) is very simple and there’s just a few easy tricks to it.
In this post, I’m going to describe all the tricks you need to have a crispy tahdig. Bread tahdig is similar to potato tahdig and there’s no big differences.
Soaking the rice: Clean the rice well, then rinse it several times and soak it in water for a few hours. If you're short of time (say10 minutes), you'd better soak the rice in warm water.
Boiling the water: In a non-stick pot, pour some water and put it on the heat. The amount of water should be enough for two knuckles to be above the rice. Bring the water to a boil.
Pour the rice in the boiling water.
Add some salt. As for 3 cups of rice roughly one tablespoon of salt will be enough. Stir a bit so as not to let the rice grains stick together.
Draining the rice: Having half-cooked the rice, remove it from the heat and pour it into a drain. Rice grains ought not to be too soft, but rather firm. Do not put the lid on the pot. (cook until al dente)As for testing, when you take a grain of rice and place it under your teeth, the inside should still be slightly firm while the outside is cooked. Never allow the rice to cook and soften completely since in the next step they're going to steam and soften nicely. As a general rule, depending on the quality of rice it takes 3 to 5 minutes to get half-cooked. Of course, the cooking time depends on the grade of the rice and the gas heat; some sooner, some later (and some never these days!).
Putting the bread in the pot: To make the bread tahdig, put the non-stick pot on low heat and pour some oil into it. About 4 tablespoons would be enough for a small pot.
Take a thin slice of bread and cut it to the size of the pot. Once the oil is hot, put the bread in the oil to get fried. Fry it slightly on both sides.
Note that it's enough if it's fried slightly, and there's no need to be fried completely. When steaming rice, the bread is going to get brittle and crispy well.
The heat at this stage should be slightly higher than when steaming rice so that the bread could be fried.
Waiting for the polo to cook: Put the lid on the pot and wait for the rice to cook and tahdig form on the bottom of the pot.The time to steam rice depends on its quality, but generally it takes some 40 to 60 minutes for the rice to cook and the tahdig to form. In the first 5 minutes, turn the heat up a little bit (just a little) as to let the tahdig form, then turn the heat down so that the rice gets steamed.
After the required time, remove the lid and test the rice. If it's cooked evenly, it means it's ready. If you feel it's not cooked yet, put the lid on immediately so that the steam doesn't escape.
When your Persian rice with bread tahdig is ready, put it in a dish and then separate tahdig from the pot, cut it, and put it in the dish (as a garnish).

Gotta admit, I'm a bit anti Jarpad. Just because he comes off as entitled. BUT given how he and his wife have their hands in the fans pockets EVERY SINGLE DAY, I'd have thought he was far more minted going forward than Jensen. Neither have anything to worry about.
Corollary of that is Jarpad seems to know how to spend, his wife dresses in 10 grand of clothes daily and he wears 200k of watch on his wrist. Investment watches are usually kept pristine, not worn daily. His wife wears a 1.5m engagement ring. They frequently put pictures of the house on her blog and it's stuffed full of expensive crap. I'd feel claustrophobic living there, seriously.
Please correct my points, cos I'm really interested!
1. Lol-jackles (who is a bit of an arsehole IMHO) said JP would be getting the same for Walker as for SPN and extra (cut of profits as exec), so that's around $200,000 dollars per episode. The ensemble cast of Walker looks really expensive so that surprised me. Do you think that's true?
2. He shoves his overpriced vitamins #Mantrafamily down his fans throat and they are EXPENSIVE. He's an investor, though he's changed his story on his position several times. How much do you get from them?
3. He apparently owns a lot of property, including student housing in Austin.
4. He is owner or part owner of San Jac and Stereophonic in Austin.
5. His wife shills products daily on her blog
FYI, I HATE the "family" tag. The family is the fans not the stars. My test, I know my family's phone number and they wouldn't get an injunction if I went to anyone of their houses. Apply that test to J2?
Fans are PRODUCT to actors and definitely to Jarpad "I care so much I want you to feel better so buy my yellow vitamin wee"
I mean I never said Jared would end up homeless in a box. You can be blackballed and have money in the bank, these two statements have nothing to do with each other.
I haven't checked the Walker payrole. That statement could be true, but I'd say to take it with a grain of salt until you see a receipt about his paygrade. For example, on SPN last I knew he was making about 125K per episode (Jensen was 175K, Misha was just over 100K).
Jensen's value was higher due to a mix of... well, quality, quality of his representation, and the fact he had a few other skills in his pocket on access like directing.
Jared being a producer on Walker likely is worth a paygrade boost, and he headlines the show, truly. It's a matter of how his agent negotiated his worth.
On the other hand, it would be INCREDIBLY stupid for CBS/CW to accept a pitch that high on Jared on a show that hadn't been tested for its success. If Walker was still running its 0.3X in appropriate follow-up to SPN on the same TV season, sure. I guess. But with its fairly stable 0.15 for the last bazillion episodes that is rounding it up or down to 0.1 or 0.2 depending on its thousandths, that is baaaad. The first season should have been more conservative on its paygrades, but CW isn't known for the wisest business decisions and may have highly overestimated its potential appeal, in which case--LOL.
There is some wiggle room on potential budget because at a base, Walker is not a very expensive show to shoot, as it can just drop a camera in real world locations and roll from there. Very little CGI and the like. Again, I'd have to review what the show budget is to see what's going on.
Now to clear up some other things:
Jared does not actually own Stereotype. His friend owns Stereotype. He supported them early on with a small investment but his respective share is not enough to be a decision maker or an "owner" any more than anybody else that owns some stock in a company does. San Jac he is one of the owners of. One of. He holds far larger investment in it with several friends, so he is one of a few co-owners.
Things Jared owns:
Several empty lots
His fancy ass house everybody knows about worth about 5 million (Gen's been given power of attorney)
The "student housing" is:
a 4 bed, 2.5 bath home also for families, that can be arranged like a multifamily unit if needed. If you saw it from the street, you'd go "awww, that's a cute house." (some dude nobody knows has power of attorney--he owns a building company, not gonna be more specific)
a 3 bed, 2 bath home (power of attorney guy has this too)
A funky little duplex with 4 bedrooms per unit, best I can tell. (power of attorney guy has this too)
A singlefamily 3 bed home (different power of attorney guy)
One random suite in a business building with like 200 suites granted to him by a family member
The three with matching "power of attorney" is basically the three rentable ones so Jared himself doesn't have to be your landlord. In total there's 15 bedrooms between three properties (one truly multifamily, one arrangeable-as). These properties aren't located anywhere near each other. There's another 3 bedroom home in there that may be rentable. And some office space that got passed to him and basic cross searching in the past brought up a billion bankruptcy filings so I'm pretty sure it was "quick, Jared, take this".
jared doesn't own some giant mega campus complex. Jared owns a few homes that in theory could be rented out to students. This isn't unusual nor is this something the Ackles don't have too. Jared is the equivalent of that dude you find that owns a couple of houses and rents them out, but he goes through a property management agency by proxy of a building company that does the renovations that puts it in there for him, on 3/4 homes. He's not a landlord titan. He's a guy with a fraction of side income by the time it gets to him on a few properties.
So let's get that set straight before anybody makes it sound like Jared floats the student housing business in some lucrative scooby doo real estate scheme.
AND THEN THERE'S MANTRA:
Yes, Jared is a co-founder of Mantra. Which is honestly... god, don't get me started on why Jared Padalecki should not be simultaneously broadcasting for mental health and then packing nootropics down people's throats. (x for general nootropics) (x for phenibut in particular, which might explain his outburst on SM)
(That's just the one that jumps out as most problematic but the cocktails involved could really just not go over well with the wrong person, some of these things are like mixing OTC ritalin and SSRIs)
At the end of the day, regardless of the ethicality of mantra, I mean, sure, it's a business decision. It makes money. At the end of the day, though, this is not a career move.
Again, nobody ever said Jared's gonna end up living homeless in a box eating beans out of a can. The discussion is whether or not he has arranged himself a viable career forward in media.
Renting out a couple homes by proxy isn't gonna land him roles.
Selling miracle water that turns people into paranoid messes (but with great memory!!) isn't gonna land him roles.
Owning a bar isn't going to land him roles.
None of this actually adds any content to the discussion of Jared Padalecki's professional media career, which his stans keep trying to enter to the conversation to offset discussion of Ackles' business acumen in the acting field.
These are nonstarters in the conversation, at the end of the day. I just wanted to set straight some general details about them.
Jared has a future with an INCOME, but that doesn't mean he's arranged a future in MEDIA. And leave it from Jarpad stans to try to fuck up that conversation.
News flash: Rich White Man Bought Stuff To Make Money. More at 11.
The inability to see how this isn't the same as like. Owning a production company. And owning a record label. And owning a publisher (mostly for vinyls but other potential). And having establishment across multiple distributors and production hubs (WB, Amazon) as a path forward in media is B A F F L I N G.

Complete list of all problems known so far in Pokemon Sword and Shield with data and/or proof for each problem
[I am copying this post from the pokemon subreddit from u/Terotu]
Seeing as there's a lot of people that don't quite know the extent of the issues and that there's no real compilation of the problems, I feel like everyone needs a list with info and sources of each and every current problem with the games, it's a long list but I've tried to put it all together, it's not just dexit people. I will post everything that is 100% confirmed and known so far, there's potentially other problems, but this is made as a somewhat "quick" digest with info that has been 100% proven, for anyone out of the loop that wants to know exactly what's happening with these games.
1. The number of usable Pokemon has been cut, only less than half are now usable, known as Dexit, it means that you won't be able to use these pokemon in the new games, you won't be able to transfer them in, and you won't be able to do anything with them sans sticking them in home for the foreseeable future (Home will probably be a paid only subscription based service just like its predecessor), for all intents and purposes, these Pokemon are basically removed from the main games franchise and they will take probably years to come back, if ever. An image with the cut/not cut pokemon can be found here, pokemon in green are confirmed to be in, pokemon in purple have galar forms, pokemon in yellow are in the data, but there's nothing for them, they could be leftover data like the items and other things, could be giveaway/event only, could only come from other games, etc, there's no way to know what's the plans for them at the moment, if any, pokemon in red are cut. The excuse GF used for this culling was that it let's them work on delivering better animations and a more carefully crafted game, since they don't have to put more time and effort into redoing the models. This is complete BS as the game polish is worse than ever, and the models seem to just be somewhat edited XY models.
2. Just like the Pokemon cut, about 144 moves were removed, 99 moves excluding the let's go and other outlier moves, this includes extremely important and used mainstay moves like Hidden Power, return/frustration and Pursuit, on top of extremely old moves that have been there since gen 1, some of these moves were important for the viability of several Pokemon, which may cause them to be way less effective if not way worse when it comes to battles, on top of this, it also removed some SIGNATURE MOVES of certain Pokemon. The full list for deleted mainstay pokemon moves can be found here Attempts at transferring Pokemon with these moves will apparently get this message: "This move can’t be used. It’s recommended that this move is forgotten. Once forgotten, this move can’t be remembered."
3. Short game, the first streamer beat the champion at around the 14 hour mark, while he did this by skipping a fair amount of trainer battles, other streamers are clocking in about 16-20 hours, seems like the average will be about 18 hours to beat the game. Here's one of the many streamers, he's right before champion and clocking in at 14:34.
4. The graphics are extremely mediocre, it constantly looks worse and less polished than LGPE, the textures are often inexcusable. Examples of the bad graphics seen here 1 2 3 4 5 6 A comparison with LGPE can be seen here and here Here's a game recently released for switch, another picture found here, the difference is unreal.
5. There's constant graphical issues, not just low quality graphics, pop in is present at all points of the game due to bad coding, trainer models will also disappear mid battle when an attack with a high number of particles is used, this also happened in SM, however, SM moved the camera away to avoid people seeing it, they didn't even try this time. This means it's either a carry over from SM and they just copy pasted most of the code, or they somehow have to remove the trainers to avoid a switch from somehow getting fps drops. The pop-ins can be evidenced here and here. Trainers dissapearing mid battle can be evidenced here
6. Animations, one of the main reasons why GF cut pokemon, at least in the interviews, are as shoddy as ever. There's extremely lazy animation all over the game, from normal attacks to key moments in the game, such as the encounter with the box legendaries. Most of the animations are also completely copy pasted from older games, one example seen here with Hau(the entire character of hop is basically a copy paste of hau.) Most of the animations for the camp are also copy pasted from xy amie, evidenced here. Pokemon battle animations are just as bad as before, if not worse, pictured here is a pokemon headbutting with its feet. Another example found here, THE MAIN BOX ART POKEMON CINEMATIC, THIS IS THE GAME CLIMAX, another example on the other version found here In fact, it could be considered way worse if compared to the last gen, example of upscaled USUM cutscenes. (Notice the graphical change isn't that big, the only difference here is increasing the resolution)
7. Cutscenes and restrictions, like previous Pokemon games the cutscene and story forcing and restrictions are insane this time around, seems to be even more intrusive and in your face than before at times, while keeping the same level of cutscene intrusion than past gen. The video for this point was taken down, but if you wish to see this you should be able to find it by searching the gameplay clips/streams online
8. The difficulty, just like the cut scene problem, this carries over from earlier games and it's even worse. There were constant heals, to the point where in the first routes you're not able to go beyond 3 trainer fights without getting a full heal. The first streamer avoided fights and didn't train at all, it still was one shotting gym leader dynamaxed ace pokemon. This can be seen here.
9. Post-Game is almost non-existant, as usual since masuda-Ohmori started directing, there's no frontier, there's also no frontier like facility. The post game consists of battle tower and a very short sequence of missions where you beat some dynamax pokemon for your rival to catch the other legendary. Not only this, but the battle tower is also an inferior version of past towers, it doesn't have super single nor super double battles, it has no triple battles and there's no "tower bosses", it's just random trainer npcs after another.
10. Problems with game design and behavior, beyond difficulty and progression, there's other problems in the overall game design. Examples of this is not being able to catch Pokemon in the wild areas until you got a badge allowing you to do so, which usually covers your current level. Meaning if you find a level 31 shiny or a level 31 pokemon you really want, you won't be able to catch it until you go and beat the next gym. For shiny hunters, this one is gonna be really important, you cannot see if your Pokemon is gonna be shiny or not in the overworld, this means that on top of the badge limit, you also got this potential problem. Evidenced here.
11. Removed past features with virtually no new additions, seems like this is a mainstay in Pokemon, removing older features so they become one of a time gimmicks, but unlike earlier titles this new game doesn't adds anything new except dynamaxing, which is limited to gyms only. This particular gen removes Mega Evolutions and Z moves, mega evolutions in particular were a huge deal and seeing them suddenly removed means that there's little reason to get involved with any new addition, no matter how mainstay or how much GF forces it when it will very soon be gone. A list of these removed features can be found here.
12. No scaling whatsoever, models are the same sizes of XY (giving more plausibility to them not really redoing the models).Any argument against this is thrown out of the window when dynamaxing exists, since the models seem to be edited XY models then the problem remains. Here's the non scaled model in sword and shield. Here's an scaled model, released in a game that came out 15 years ago for a the Nintendo Gamecube, something way less powerful than the switch.
13. No GTS, retera thread on the discovery found here, the only strings that refer to the GTS are leftovers from Let's Go code, as seen here and here. This is most likely due to Home(this means that you will have to pay for switch online+home for services older games already included) Thanks to /u/c_will for pointing this one out and gathering the info.
14. A 20 dollar price increase for less content than earlier 3DS games, with subpar graphics and removal of features, an overall shoddy release for a higher price point.
15. Performance, game is locked to 30 fps, and while that's not a big issue by itself, this is coupled with slowdown at certain moments such as dynamaxing, it can drop fps to the floor and turn the game into a slideshow for a while. Evidenced here. Still gathering more info on this one, as it's a relatively new occurrence that hasn't happened to all users, take this one with a grain of salt
16. The overall lack of quality, polish and effort put into the game, this is all the minor/somewhat minor but still very telling problems with the game. This is apparent in many ways all throughout the game, things like the wrong backgrounds or just voids for pokemon battles. Two example of the wrong backgrounds seen here and [here] (https://clips.twitch.tv/FriendlyCleanOstrichArsonNoSexy) One example of the void background seen here (these happen on indoor fights and some non indoor but scripted battles)Examples of backgrounds on indoor and everywhere else in both LGPE and colosseum, seen here and here. Then there's complete lack of music in the game story most important moments, seen here. Starters are also shiny locked. The entire world freezes when using certain objects, as seen here. To this, you add up the emptiness of the wild area and the badly implemented weather changes that don't make much sense, both seen here No animation for flying, no elite 4, no victory road, etc, this is added to all the other problems that show the lack of effort put into them.
This franchise deserves better.
You deserve better.
These games are not only a huge step down from earlier titles, but it goes beyond what used to be already barely  tolerable standards to way below standards, keep in mind this is the biggest, most profitable franchise on earth.
This is the first time a pokemon main game is released on console, people were excited for game freak to finally do whatever they wanted and it's been done with the most minimal of  efforts, all the money you've spent on Pokemon didn't went on making this a better game, it went straight into the pockets of the people in charge, those that made sure this was made with the most minimum effort and those that cut  corners.
Companies that made games decades ago on hardware less powerful than the switch shouldn't be doing a better job than game freak, and companies doing work in the switch have completely obliterated game freak when it comes to developing a video game.
Keep in mind that your purchase of these games causes this:
Continue the yearly release cycle that makes the games rushed and forces the devs to insane crunch time, creating the low morale problem
Tells them that you're ok with these problems, and they will keep lowering the bar and cutting corners on development
Your money will continue going into the pockets of those responsible for these problems
I implore you to be a smart consumer, I've played Pokemon since I red, ever since I was a child, I can no longer support this franchise, I probably won't buy a Pokemon product ever again if this is gonna be how they're gonna treat the games and its fans.

Heart fixes in enneatypes 5
Introduction
Hey guys! This is a general masterpost for cores 5 about their heart fixes! Sadly, online descriptions regarding your fixes are always very very poor, so here I'm trying to imagine how core's and 2nd fix' fears and strategies interact with each other. Basically, here are 3 subtypes of 5, classified based on the way they deal with the Feeling/Self-Image Triad.
I think that classifying types based on their 2nd fix makes sense, more so than classifying them by their 3rd fix, since it has mostly such a weak component in your general personality/in your daily priorities. Plus, 5s, being withdrawn types, are most likely to be gut lasts: so their 2nd fix is most likely to be from the Heart Center. Hence this post.
To be honest with you all, this can turn out to be more theoretical than practical (and I mean, as enneatype descriptions tend to be) since I don't actually have many in real life examples and I'm not entirely sure about my own heart fix, so yeah, take all of this with a grain of salt and feel free to criticize my descriptions (honestly it'd be helpful). I just wanted to try to give a more in depth analysis since fixes are a really interesting concept but there's so little information online...
Disclaimer: in order to make this work better one should compare themselves with other ennea5 in their life, possibly with a different heart fix than you. Comparing oneself to 5s online or in fiction can be more,,, eh (you don't see them acting in ther day-to-day life, and fictional characters are meant to be seen by the public in a certain way). I don’t know about comparing yourself to other types who seem to have a different fix than you... (like, say, comparing yourself to who is probably a 6 with a 4fix to understand how a 4fix would look like) it may work or it may not, I guess
5-2:
Uncertainty about the future and the world's dangers is faced by withdrawing. Fear of being worthless is faced by trying to earn validation and attention.
Double Rejection Triad
Obviously, the problems that come from the rejection triad are very present here - they have different strategies to deal with this feeling of rejection, and that is by ignoring their own needs, be that by retreating entirely or by attending to others' needs (they shift according to the circumstances).
Exposing their needs to someone not only feels embarassing and threatening, but it may also cause guilt
Hypersensitivity
According to Naranjo, 5s are hypersensitive, specifically when it comes to other people's demands. "In other words, a great sensitivity to interference goes hand-in hand with an over-docility, in virtue of which the individual interferes all too easily with her own spontaneity, with her preferences, and with acting in a way coherent with her needs in the presence of others. Also, in light of this over-docility (understandable as a by-product of a strong repressed love need) we can understand the particular emphasis in aloneness in ennea-type V. To the extent that the relationship entails alienation from one’s own preferences and authentic expression there arises an implicit stress and the need to recover from it: a need to find oneself again in aloneness.". It seems obvious to me that all of this would be heavily present in the 5-2 individual. He most likely feels highly obliged to attend to other people's or authorities' demands. Let's say, easily guilt-tripped (they won't necessarily act immediately on that guilt though).
This means they have an extreme need to withdraw after a social meeting: they will try to meet other people's needs but they can soon get too tired and retreat again.
It's more difficult for them not to care (as other 5s may do) not only or really about other people's opinions, but about other people's needs and emotions. and maybe they also don't relate that much to 5 descriptions where their need to have a stoic and hyper-rational attitude is emphasized, but of course this is not necessarily the case. (Naranjo does say in his description that 5s oscillate between insensitivity and hypersensitivity, and it seems to me that a 5-2 would easily tend more towards the hypersensitive side. Still, insensitivity is the way 5s deal with hypersensitivity itself, so they may switch to insensitive mode sometimes, otherwise they would burn out or something)
Depeding on their wing/iv, they may help others even when they don't really feel like it - usually, if they feel acting on their 2 strategies would require too much energy/that it's not worth it they'll just let it go. Core needs and strategies are a priority of course. (something similiar may happen to 3-fixers, although their goals are different).
Knowledge in the service of others
Uses their knowledge to help people.
Probably more comfortable helping in a practical/informative way rather than emotionally
They may be very self-conscious about their comforting abilities though (feeling they're never doing enough to show that they care): they may have consciouly learned how to improve in this area and how to improve their Emotional Intelligence in general
Still, surely has excellent cognitive empathy
Simply put, their desire to be competent can traslate into a desire to be competent from an emotional/helper point of view.
"Fear of being useless", as you see in some 5 descriptions - oh boy.
Vibes, wings and mistypings
At a party they would keep in the background but probably try to show somehow to the host that they're grateful for being invited, even in non-verbal ways (depends on their energy levels)
The one emotion they're more comfortable expressing (not necessarily feeling: in fact, they may not even feel it) is contentment ("I don't need anything, don't worry") or care ("what can I do to help you?")
5w4 emphasizes empathy but 5w6 emphasizes sociability
They probably mistyped as a 9 at some point, especially if they're female/afab.
Def can look like soc 5
To sum up
How 2 strategies are used to cope with 5-ish fears:
Hiding own needs = also means avoiding exposing oneself and feeeling vulnerable
Knowing what to do for others = feeling competent, capable but especially in control (again, rejection triad types need to feel in control). Taking care of others creates the illusion of taking care of one's own most vulnerable side, in a way controlling it.
2 strategies are used to face and placate one's own super-ego. According to Naranjo, 5s have a very strong super-ego (again, hypersensitivity + probably because to the super-ego the 5 individual still has "too many needs") so doing good may be a way to satisfy it.
2 strategies are used as a way to feel close to others/satisfy a deep and repressed love need without needing to show their vulnerable side directly, but rather from a position of power
How 5 strategies are used to cope with 2-ish fears:
Helping in a practical and informed way
Repressing own needs and emotions
5 pushes to control oneself, especially one's own needs
5 hypersensitivity probably helps at better recognizing other people's needs
Qualities that 2 brings to 5 (that is, in which ways 2 can help overcoming 5-like challenges):
Availability; does not ignore external expectations and demands as much
Is able to show their warmer and tender side (many 5s feel exposed by doing this), even though this still isn't the same as being vulnerable
Have less of a fear of intimacy, even though it depends on one's health levels (an unhealthy 2 is not really that open to intimacy as it may seem)
Higher Emotional Intelligence
Greater Social and Empathy Skills
More inclined to be more out there than other 5s, and especially is more open when it comes to relationships; less disillusioned, less skeptical, less cynic. more likely to believe that human relationships are indeed worth it. or at least, that's what they may tell themselves.
Challenges that 2 brings to 5:
Again, hiding own needs, vulnerability and failures
Fears disappointing people
May need to feel in control all the time, to the point of exhaustion: 5 already wants to be in control of their own mental states and emotions all the time, 2 adds up other people's ones. Need to unwind, especially mentally
They often feel deeply rejected, may try to deny it
May not be easy to express anger (they may have an 8fix, but its strategies are left last, so 5-2 are more likely to prevail), and for this very reason when they blow up, they blow up hard. Not only do 2-like frustrations make them explode, but 5 also represses their emotions a lot so they may be overwhelming when they finally get to the surface.

My approach to flat colors + limited palette drawings
This is a follow up to this post  i made about how i go about figuring out a color palette for my limited palette drawings. an anon asked me about my actual technique of finishing them so this is gonna be an explanation of how I work in a limited palette with flat colors. I ended up with these thumbnails for a sketch last time so we’re gonna work from here and I’m gonna sort of walk through how i got to the finished version
Tumblr media Tumblr media
first things first: every part of this process is just developed as a result of me messing around. take my advice with a grain of salt and if you think you know a way to do something better/that makes you more comfortable. go with that over what I say.
I’m honestly a little surprised when people express confusion about how i draw like this because it’s SUPER simple - literally all you’re doing is just stacking solid color blocks of shape. its very imprecise despite how sharp everything ends up looking.
First things first is that you want to decide how you will be handling your edges throughout the duration. Do you want your shapes to be ultra-sharp and precise, or do you want a little bit of a wobblier, grainier edge? Both can look good but it’s VERY much a matter of situational basis. i’ve been favoring looser and grainier shapes so that’s how i’m going to be working on this.
Tumblr media
on the left here, you can see the shapes made with precise rectangular selections and an untextured pen, on the right, freehand drawn shapes and a grittier pen. There’s something immediately pretty different feeling about them. So play around with that first - its not something that’s fun to change halfway through! But lets step back a minute. It helps to work large to small. The two biggest shapes here are these orange chunks and everything gets stacked on top of them so i’m gonna do that first.
Now, a key feature of what i do: clipping masks. almost all digital art programs have them. What a clipping mask does is it constrains the pixels of a layer to the transparency of the layer below it. Here I have the light orange layer, and then on top of it the buildings and billboard are clipped to the orange. Most of you probably already know this and I’m overexplaining a bit, but there was a time when i didnt know how clipping layers worked and someone had to explain it to me.
Tumblr media
now you’ll notice the shapes of the buildings are rough, and sloppy. here’s the fun part: since this is all about stacking shapes, only your exterior edges matter. this all gets filled in. be as sloppy as you want when you’re making your shapes. in fact, the outside edges get trimmed out a bunch to when i do this - i go in and erase them clean. Don’t be too finnicky about drawing perfect and precise! its a waste of time. As long as the silhouette is what you want, the interior can be a nightmare.
Working this way, it’s important to keep your layers stacked in a way you can make sense of. Right now there are four layers here: the background dark orange, the two main orange rectangle shapes, and then the buildings on one layer and a billboard on the other. I rack up a LOT of layers doing this and it makes it annoying in some aspects, but being able to freely recolor any one chunk without losing my detail is a key aspect of this.
So, I block those out
Tumblr media
Next, I do the same for the smaller chunks that are still main shapes. There are once again, a lot of layers here. The top layer is the hair - you can see the head showing through it. The head and arm underneath the hair, same layer. Then the cup. Then the light green pieces of paper. Then the dark green ones.
The cup is technically farther forward than the head and arm so you would think it’d go on top, but the point isnt to recreate the foreground and background hierarchy with layers so much as it is to group things in a way i can work with. The cup goes underneath so it can be grouped with all the other objects on the table.
Tumblr media
now, i just go and fill in all the shapes. i forgot to do the blinds but i get them later. you might notice a lot of these shapes are pretty rough, which was harder to notice before they were filled in. Now that I can see better, I go in with an eraser and clean up the edges until they’re the shape I want
Tumblr media
sometimes erasing leaves little bits of ‘noise’ around objects like on this napkin here. i like to keep a little bit of this noise for texture, but if you dont like it make sure to get rid of it! if you’re working very crisp this will stand out a LOT
Next up is to add some detail onto the objects
Tumblr media
I flipped the canvas here because the head shape was wrong - the ears were uneven and i wanted to fix it. I want to go about adding detail onto the billboard and buildings. i do all detail with clipping masks - but the objects are clipped to another layer and so nothing can be clipped to them. instead, i unclip them and just erase by selection for the same effect
Tumblr media
all of the text on the papers is clipped to the papers below it. the buttons are clipped to the phone. the yellow photos and card are actually another independent layer on top, in case i want to recolor them separately. im indecisive and end up recoloring things a lot. For the most part these objects are starting to become recognizable as more than just shapes
Tumblr media
i go in an add the details on the background and character now. theres some more stuff on the table. the lines of the face and ears are on one layer, and the flats of the eyes below that. Here’s what each group of layers is, and what they look like on their own
Tumblr media
The background/bottom chunk. Just the table, window, and shirt.
Tumblr media
The middle bit. All the stuff on the table and the blinds.
Tumblr media
Finally, the top, which is just his head and arm.
now this stage is the bare bones of the drawing. you can more or less tell everything that’s happening. it reads. but its very much lacking in something - it doesnt have a ton of depth or interest. and adding that additional detailing, the dept and interest, is where stuff starts getting REALLY tricky and subjective.
im gonna take you to a much simpler scenario to show the sort of options i go through at this stage
Tumblr media
ahh its our dear friend, sphere casting shadow. this is, more or less, the kind of image we have. you can tell whats happening but it’s lackluster. there are TONSSS of ways frm here that you can go add interior detail to a shape once it has been established. here are some quick and SUPER rough examples
Tumblr media
from top left to bottom right: flat cel shading, softer airbrushed/gradient shading, halftone, and a textured brush. Each of these has their strengths and weaknesses. They can also be combined.
Tumblr media
for example, here’s the solid cel shading being used to contain a gradient/airbrushed detail. This image - probably the single oldest piece of my art i still willingly show people - is entirely colored with gradients being contained in cel-shaded chunks. It has a sort of soft, luminous quality but without losing its crispness.
Tumblr media
here’s a super quick bust with some variations of stuff going on. obviously this is no masterpiece but you see how different types of detailing can interact with each other and be used to distinguish materials too.
Tumblr media
With the mob psycho comic I did, the detailing that wasnt line was done using a variety of halftones of different shapes layered on top of each other
Tumblr media Tumblr media
by contrast parts of my ace attorney comic use a textured brush and have a sort of blended, papery feel
Tumblr media Tumblr media
any of them can work for pretty much anything as long as you are using it with intent. practice around. mix styles of finishing together. find a comfort zone. the more you do it the more intuitive it becomes and at the heart of it this process is a very intuitive way of drawing because of how far removed it is from realism.
Now here is the trick - light and shadow.
Everything up to this point has been very flat and adding detail helps but there’s only so much that can accomplish. To get HEAVY light and shadow you need to think about things differently. I think if there’s any part of this process that’s complicated, its this one.
To truly get the most out of your palette, you need to pick chunks of an image to be in higher/lower light and then either ‘step up’ or ‘step down’ the colors in that chunk. here’s what I mean.
Tumblr media
Here’s our ball with a beam of light on it. Everything Within the beam of light is one step in our limited palette lighter than anything outside of it. Here’s how I go about doing this: the shape of the beam of light is below everything else. Then, once I have the shape blocked out, i select it. With that selection in place, i go to EVERY SINGLE LAYER that’s effected, lock the opacity, and recolor that chunk. So what’s going on here is that there is only one more layer - the beam of light, below everything but the background, and the rest of this effect is just caused by every layer above it now being two-toned following the exact same silhouette. THIS is why it’s so important to keep your layers separate - if the shadow and highlight had been painted onto the base directly, i would not be able to do this without significant effort.
This works with all of the finishing techniques I talked about above
Tumblr media
A combination of cel shading and half toning, all stepped up to give the appearance of heavier light on one area. This is also how I go about rendering transparency in this style. All of my layers are fully opaque and I allow the colors to do the work of conveying transparent material
Tumblr media
Here’s our ball with the patterned/textured brush  shading, being viewed partially through a window
it’s obviously not a very representational way of working, but as long as your audience UNDERSTANDS what you’re trying to convey, then you’re executing it successfully.
So with that, now we’re gonna go and finish this drawing.
For this one, I decide a big central shadow is necessary. In the original thumbnail, he was backlit, which I still plan on doing, and that wouldn’t make sense without casting a shadow.
Tumblr media
I’ve had to change the colors of some objects entirely in order to get this to work right. This is what I mean when I call this an intuitive process - some stuff felt weird, so I changed it. This also involves a bit of problem solving. The newspaper is now unable to be separated from his hand. Sometimes changing the color of an object makes that object look better, but ruins its relationship with the objects around it. It’s up to you to learn how to adjust and finagle things until you get it where you want. The paper he has and the napkin underneath it also all blend together now.
The next few parts of this process are REALLY just trial and error, where I toss a bunch of spaghetti at it until it works. It’s hard to decide what to screenshot, because I don’t know what will or will not be part of the finished drawing. To that end, you can watch the recording of this drawing here. This video isn’t edited at all so it contains a couple of minutes of really shitty sketching, and then all of the color thumbnailing work i did in the last post. Actually getting started on these final colors begins around the two minute mark. It is also sideways, I am sorry I don’t know why.
Tumblr media
Now, here you can see where I’ve more or less worked things out. His hand’s not on the cup anymore because my friend pointed out it didnt have an arm attached to it. I added some halftoning to make a gradiating effect in the sky and on the table to give the impression of a sunrise. His eyes are different but as of posting this, I don’t like them and am probably about to go back and change them again. The Cup now has a shadow and some rim lighting. His hand is in shadow. The stain on the napkin is big enough to define the edge of the paper on top of it.
Little things like that.
The more you draw like this the more the way you need to think about your space becomes natural. I hope this helps and I wish you all the best of luck!

Do you think if they ever reboot ATLA they would make Zutara canon? Reboots have changed quite a few things(the new She-Ra is vastly different from the original) especially with all the support Zutara got post-series
Hmmm, an interesting question. It depends on many things I think, not the least of which being who the showrunners are and the tone they want to set. We may get to see our reboot soon, actually, since there’s a live action Netflix series in the works (they haven’t started production yet though, so don’t get too excited). As far as I know, Bryke is at the forefront, and while that’s great news since it means another abomination hopefully won't happen, it does mean that a Zutara relationship probably isn’t likely since they’re big fans of the Katara/Aang relationship.
That being said, I think it would be a missed opportunity if they didn’t, and I’ll explain why. (Disclaimer for any non-Zutara fans reading this, being a Zutara shipper is not my main motivation for thinking or wanting it to be canon). First things first, the audience. I don’t know if post-series Zutara support would have much of an effect on Bryke, but it’s possible that the producers or Netflix would notice and try to factor it in. However, I don’t think pandering should be the reason they include Zutara--far from it. The original audience that watched Avatar has grown up at this point. Many of us are in our twenties, give or take. We’ve matured, and it would be foolish of the showrunners for ignoring this fact. If there’s a reboot of Avatar, live action or animation, the majority of the audience will be those that grew up with the show, not kids the same age as the audience of the animation. I think that’s evident enough with the release of Avatar on Netflix (notice how many people are rewatching and falling back into their love for the show?) and the comics. Ah, the comics. Some things they did well, others...not. What they did do well is writing the storytelling more maturely than the show. I don’t mean to bash the original show as it obviously had no problems including the dark effects of a war story in bite size, easy-to-swallow chunks for kids (a good thing). However, they treat the audience more seriously, knowing that not everything needs to be spelled out. You see the same in Korra. And to me, that’s part of what makes the Zutara relationship so captivating and intriguing--it’s mature. It’s not easy, and it has faults. It’s not “hero gets the girl after saving the world”. It’s complex.
I’ll say this now: there’s a difference between a relationship being canon and being endgame, and it’s an important difference. I definitely think Zutara should be canon, if not endgame, in any reboot they do.
Personally, I’m excited for a live action version if they ever get around to it. It brings many new factors to the table, and the majority of them have to do with adaptation. (I’ll mainly be talking about a live action version for a little bit, excuse the art student that shows). Adaptation, especially between mediums, is tricky to execute. You see many book-movie adaptations that succeed, and some that miserably fail, and others in between. This goes for other forms as well, ex: book to comic, book to animation, animation to film, etc. With any medium adaptation, the story will inherently change. You can't hear a character's inner dialogue or prose written in a book in a film, so changes have to be made or the filmmaker must write or use film language to substitute for it. With adaptation, changes must happen, that's a fact. To me, more often than not those adaptations succeed when the creator embraces that fact and uses the medium to their advantage. Sometimes this changes the story, and sometimes that change enhances it for the better. Take Game of Thrones or Harry Potter. The former deals with many characters and worldbuilding that is extremely complex, and they did an excellent job in getting you attached to those characters. However, they did have to change some things from the books, and while some weren’t as successful, others did remarkably. (Before anyone starts raging, I’m specifically talking about the seasons where they still had books to go off of). For Harry Potter, we have eight movies to analyze, which I will not be doing, but I will say that the weakest films storywise were the fifth and seventh, simply because they tried to do both too much and too little, if that makes sense.
How would this apply to a live action ATLA? Well, it wouldn’t be like the animation, most likely. It’s a medium adaptation, meaning that the approach they had in the animation won’t work the same in live action. Think about it--you don’t watch animation, especially 2d, the same way you watch live action, psychologically and subconsciously. There’s a separation there between their world and ours. It lessens with 3d animation, but it’s much much smaller when it’s live action since it looks like our world, more or less. Would GOT beheading and other violence (you know what I mean) have had the same effect if it were 2d animation? No, probably not. Yes, I know that anime has its fair share of gore that can be extremely realistic and gross, but it still doesn’t have the same impact it would if it appeared on your screen with quality vfx. Now, these are extreme examples. I really doubt that they’ll make the violence that intense or realistic in the show, as they’ll more than likely want to keep it family friendly (there’s still kids that watch the original). Another disclaimer (ik there’s a lot of them, but people can misunderstand this kind of critique as bashing, which it’s not): I am not saying that the original animation of ATLA is not impactful, absolutely not. I have no trouble getting attached to animated characters, laughing or crying with them, etc, especially if the writing is good. However, it was a kids show, and it was written with that in mind. This is apparent to me as I’m rewatching the show now. There’s some dark stuff that happens, as is the nature of a war story, and the animation handles it excellently. But think of how different it will be seeing the ruins of the Southern Air Temple, practically a garden of bones, Gyatso’s included, in live action. Show us all the nitty-gritty of the lower rings of Ba Sing Se, and the corruption up top. Let this affect the characters. Bring this moral ambiguity into light, as it was done in the show. I think that if they’re going to tackle a show in this way, not a movie or series of movies, it would be smart of them to lean into these darker themes, not shy away from them. Like I said earlier, the audience has matured, and there’s so much more to explore with these stories and themes. I’ll say with confidence that they’ll definitely do this, and possibly add a story or two. Otherwise, it will just be a rehashing of the original, word for word dialogue. Not that the original is bad (obv not), but I don’t think we should want that. There’s a lot of potential in a live action series, and I think they’ve learned lessons from the abomination that already tripped over itself. It was an example of adaptation done badly. However, you can change a story without destroying it, but it’s a delicate operation. That’s why having the original showrunners on gives me a bit more confidence. To be clear, I don’t think they’ll go full PG-13 or higher. It’s still possible to have family/kid friendly media without shying away from the darker parts. ATLA is a great example of that. If you want a live action example of a show that balances humor, heartache, and violence beautifully, look at Merlin (bbc).
I think you bring up an interesting point with She-Ra and it’s divergence from the original. I haven’t seen the original animation, but I can say that the new one was successful in telling a new and fresh story in the same universe. The act almost as parallel stories in that universe. How To Train Your Dragon is the same way--the book and movie have very very little in common story wise, but it’s a beautiful trilogy nonetheless. Would this work with ATLA? Possibly, though I doubt they’d want to stray away from the original’s core themes. Though, you can fight me on this, Zutara does align with those themes, but that’s another post (this one is long enough). However, it’s such a complicated question because it inherently considers countless possibilities, so there’s no definite answer. It’s a beloved show that’s already been butchered once, so how much would they be willing to change?
Now, how does Zutara factor in? (getting to the point now). For many of the reasons above, I think it should be canon. Their dynamic, their rocky relationship, the journey of trust and acceptance, the connection they have, all of it is ripe for exploration, especially in a revamped, inherently more mature story. Instead of a predictable relationship where there was never any real conflict (Katara was always loyal to Aang, and their fights were never truly consequential), you have a relationship coming from a difficult, seemingly impossible place, one that requires time to establish. Like I said, it’s not an easy relationship. Part of it is strengthened by Zuko’s wonderful redemption arc. He needs to build a foundation of trust before almost any of the Gaang trust him (Aang, the angel, is willing to give him a chance almost immediately in Book 1, and though she didn’t care one way or the other at first, he did accidentally burn Toph’s feet). What would a Book 4 have brought us? Despite what Bryke say about it being a false rumor, Ehasz, a co-producer, said that it was at least discussed, plus Book 3 definitely had more to give, so I take it with several grains of salt. Anyways, even wondering about it hypothetically produces interesting theories. We see at the end of Book 2 in the cave that Katara, once she overcomes her immediate, and warrented, repulsion of Zuko, she’s able to connect and see a bit of his heart underneath the layers and layers of angst and anguish obscuring it. This scene is popular in the Zutara fandom for a reason. However, I think that making changes to characters, especially in Zuko’s case should be done extremely selectively and purposefully. His arc is one of the most fantastic accomplishments of the show, and I think very little should be changed. For example, he should still make that doomed, yet inevitable choice in that cave to join Azula, but perhaps they’ll include his mother as a more forefront character, especially when he goes back to the Fire Nation. By all means, give Ty Lee and Mai more than just a conversation to supply their backstory. Thoroughly explore the swampbenders and the Freedom Fighters. Show more of the original airbenders in Aang’s memories! There’s room for exploration without dismantling the world or characters like the M. Night film did. For Zutara, I think that expanding Book 3 and giving the characters more time with each other would be invaluable. Think of how quickly Katara and Zuko grew close, from Katara threatening to off him first time he even hinted at being a threat, to becoming one of the most instinctual and formidable teams in the Gaang, to saving each other’s lives in the final battle. That’s not even mentioning the Southern Raiders.  The conflict over the entire show as the backdrop for a relationship like that, romantic or platonic, is incredibly suitable for a reboot. If it was explored, the outcome would be so powerful.
I said before that there’s a difference between canon and endgame relationships. This just means that a relationship can be confirmed and explored without being the outcome. If Bryke include Zutara at all, that’s most likely how they’ll do it: adding a love triangle that ends up with Katara and Aang getting together. Honestly, it would be a method of making K/A a more interesting relationship and a way to have the characters grow a bit. However, this has the awful potential of just shitting on Zutara and turning it into a toxic relationship, which I’d rather not see.
But if it wasn’t Bryke running it? Absolutely, I think Zutara would, and should, be canon. Adaptation should take risks and be willing to explore, and I think Zutara is the type of dynamic we should see.

Best Ways to Treat Hemorrhoids for Fast Relief
Finding the right treatment for hemorrhoids isn’t easy. There are many treatment options available in the market promising false claims. Chemicals and synthetic ingredients in many OTC and prescription hemorrhoid medications can lead to serious side effects let alone instant relief.
Tumblr media
In the absence of credible information it is difficult to know which remedy works and which one does not. This website aims to educate sufferers about most effective and side effect free natural treatments for hemorrhoid (piles) based on extensive research on efficacy.
In the last two years, we have already helped hundreds of sufferers to choose the best performing treatment, thereby getting fast relief from hemorrhoid discomfort such as pain during bowel movements and unbearable itching in the lower rectum.
How do we find the most effective treatment?
The medications that we found to have highest success rate have been stringently tested on volunteers to see if symptoms do clear up and go away as fast as the product manufacturer claim. We collected information of top selling meds and compared there effectives. Further we asked several consumers to rate and review the treatments they have used to get rid of hemorrhoid's that were inside or outside the body.
OK, so what are the best options for quick relief from hemorrhoids?
Based on our research, here are the top herbal hemorrhoid remedies [1] that we found to work best in producing excellent results.
No.1
Venapro
Venapro has proved to be the most potent homeopathic treatment for hemorrhoids that occur due to increased pressure on the arteries and veins around the anus. The unique anti hemorrhoid formula of natural ingredients in Venapro provides quick relief from swollen cushions of tissue in the anal area thereby providing instant relief from itching and discomfort. Venapro shrinks the hard tender lumps and stops new ones from emerging. Major benefit of venapro is that it works on the internal, external and bleeding hemorrhoids equally well, which is not the case with any other over the counter remedy or prescription medicine.
Safe & Effective on small and large hemorrhoids (Many Users Reported Significant Results in Under 48 Hours)
Significantly relieves pain and itching no matter how bad it is currently
Uses All Natural, homeopathic Ingredients
Easy to Use, Just Two Sprays a day provide significant relief, so you’ll feel better fast
No. 2
Hemrid
Hemrid is another very effective natural remedy to get rid of hemorrhoids which comprises of capsules to be taken orally. Hemrid also helps sufferers completely get rid of their hemorrhoid problem naturally without requiring surgery to remove the lumps or causing any side effects. But relief from hemorrhoid symptoms with Hemrid is notably slower than Venapro in very severe cases such as those involving prolapsed tissue.
Works to heal all types of hemorrhoids caused by pressure on the rectal area or disease
Stops anal ache, itching and pain
Side effect free
Full Money Back Guarantee if your hemorrhoid symptoms don’t get better
No.3
H Miracle
H Miracle is a treatment ebook written by Holly Hayden. Within 2 years of its launch, it has become one of the best selling hemorrhoid guides on the Internet. Market reports suggest that the success rate with this guide has been over 85%, which is why it’s so popular amongst hemorrhoid sufferers.
This is a cheap, fast working therapy that works very well if you strictly follow the system provided in the ebook. The book addresses causes of hemorrhoids such as sitting for long periods of time, childbirth and straining during bowel movements. But being a homemade remedy it is slightly more complicated to use than to take Venapro or Hemrid pills to reduce or eliminate the growths. Further it’s ineffective for bleeding hemorrhoids. What you learn from the book, however, can lead to long-term results.
Cheaper
Homemade
Side effect free
Great Email Support
Other Common Options with Limited or Temporary Results
Over-the-counter corticosteroid creams that reduce inflammation
Lidocaine hemorhroid creams
Stool softeners [2]
Witch Hazel (apply to external lumps using a cotton swab)
Sitz Bath (sit in warm water sprinkled with Epsom salt for 15 minutes)
Surgical Procedures
If hemorrhoids don’t respond to the treatments above or beginning to form clots that cause the surrounding tissue to die, some type of surgery may be required to provide relief. Such as Hemorrhoidectomy which is invasive technique for hemorrhoid removal. It is commonly used for patients experiencing severe bleeding, a prolapsed internal lump or to remove a thrombosed external hemorrhoid.
Prior to surgery, your doctor may try other in-office remedies such as infrared coagulation or rubber band ligation. Both attempt to shrink the lumps using heat or by strangling the growth using rubber bands respectively. Complications are possible with all of these treatments, so consider your options carefully.
How to get best results with the treatment you choose?
In order to compliment any treatment for hemorrhoid and get complete hemorrhoid cure you need follow the following guidelines:
Don’t strain when you are having a bowel movement because it causes hemorrhoids.
If you’re constantly sitting and don’t get enough exercise, you’re putting pressure on the veins that can become beginning hemorrhoids. If you have a sedentary job that requires sitting for long periods of time, make sure you get up from time to time and walk around.
You would normally be advised to increases of fiber but don’t increase it suddenly as it may lead to bloating, diarrhea, intestinal gas or other discomfort. Increase fiber gradually and completely remove junk food from your diet. Include whole-grain breads and cereals, beans, plenty of vegetables, brown rice, bran, and seeds.
Avoid constipation-causing foods which include white rice, banana, white bread, pastries, cakes, pies, and pasta.
Intake at least eight glasses of water or hydrating fluids per day is also a good hemorrhoid prevention technique. For men and women who exercise or work outdoors, even more fluid intake each day is necessary to remain properly hydrated for the prevention of new hemorrhoids. However, that does not include drinking more coffee, tea or alcohol because these have the opposite effect, creating mild dehydration.
When cleaning yourself after passing stool, do it gently and with a damp toilet paper. Hard toiler paper can cause damage and aggravate your distress. Also use a good quality of toilet tissue that does not contains chemical elements such as perfumes or artificial colors. Alternatively, use baby wipes when cleaning after bowel movements.
Don’t scratch, no matter how strong the itch may be. Scratching gives temporary relief but it worsens the condition and cause hemorrhoids to bleed. Wear cotton underwear to avoid aggravating the rectal area.
Avoid lifting heavy objects. Lifting something heavy causes strain on the lower half of your body. If you are suffering or are susceptible to hemorrhoids, avoid ‘weightlifting’.
Avoid salt intake higher than recommended level.
Symptoms such as painless bright red blood can result from other serious causes like anal cancer, so it’s important to have your health care provider diagnose your condition. The medical professional can usually diagnose external hemorrhoids by looking at the growth. To confirm internal hemorrhoids, the doctor may use several tests including stool guaiac, colonoscopy[3], sidmoidoscopy, and anoscopy.
It’s normal for hemorrhoids to bleed. However, see a doctor right away if bleeding is severe or you feel dizzy, faint or light-headed. Long-term rectal blood loss can lead to serious illness including iron deficiency anemia . You should also see a doctor if a clot forms in the lump.
Important Note: Please consult your doctor if you are breastfeeding [4] or pregnant before trying any of the recommendations above. Never use corticosteroid creams (for example, cortisone).

We are always waiting to hear your comments. If our recommendations helped you, please feel free to submit your feedback through contact form at the top.

What did you think of Jun’s cover!
hi anon! thank you so much for sending in this message i really appreciate it^^ hope everythings going well ! as for his cover
general disclaimer i always give: i’m not a trained expert so please take the thoughts on the more technical vocal aspect with a grain of salt. if there’s anything inherently wrong about any of this, i’m open to having discussions and learning more^^ and furthermore when it comes to musicality and how i interpreted his, i guess, interpretation of the song, its a subjective opinion i think! so feel free to disagree with any or all of it^^
one of the first things that stood out to me was that the vocals we are hearing are most likely not live and were probably recorded in some sort of studio? theres definitely some sort of editing done on his voice before he released the cover, which is fine!! its 100% okay!! its just something to be aware of while considering things from a vocal aspect (wizards of waverly place opening theme voice: everything wont be what it seems) it’s just not as clear a readout of what his /actual/ voice is as much as a live performance would be so it’s harder to make any concrete vocal conclusions on it. one example is his handling of lower notes. hes in the lower third octave/upper second octave in this opening section (i believe his lowest note in the cover is an a#2) he’s previously shown difficulty on similar notes and sustaining them but for some reason in this cover he sounds a bit more comfortable on them? bc it’s not live its really hard for me personally to tell if it’s real comfort or if it’s just comfort that feels that way since its a studio recording. this is especially relevant for me since something that’s always constantly on my mind is junnies voice type: i never know whether to classify him as a tenor or a baritone. i tend to err on the side of baritone (his voice sometimes reminds me of btobs sungjae who for a fact is a baritone) but nothing is set in stone for me personally which is why im always listening out to not only any sort of comfort in the lower part of his voice, but also this richness in it that is characteristic of baritones. again with a studio recording its hard to tell what the actual quality of his voice sounds like in these lower regions but that makes me all the more excited for if he ever decides to perform this live for fans in the future! we’ll definitely get know more about his voice that way~
other than that, he’s really more or less doing what we have seen him do. he still gets pretty nasal, especially as he climbs higher in his voice. i think the studio recording probably edited some of this out, but he still sounds rather breathy to me as well.
i did really enjoy how he approached this middle section of the song. he’s less in his nose ( wonder if he thinks musically being more nasal = having a lighter voice) and to my ears feels as if he’s engaging his chest a lot more than we are used to hearing from him. the change in approach is suitable as there we hear musically more texture is added as opposed to the first time we hear this. a subtle thing but i do enjoy how he dragged this one bit out that first time in the beginning, but made it more in tempo the second time we hear it which is something again i feel really fits the music and how the different the 2 sections sound, the first section is more light and the second section is a bit more heavy.
that change in approach to his voice is also suitable because it helps build up to the climax of the piece. in terms of his voice, it’s definitely a strained f#4 it actually reminds me a lot of how infinite’s myungsoo approaches higher notes ...i feel like theres a bit of tongue tension?
i also appreciate how quickly for the resolution of the song he pulled back that approach to his voice he introduced earlier. part of it is still present, since the song goes on to repeat a very intense section that we hear earlier just in a different key, but it feels less as intense as before which i think is great foreshadowing for the conclusion of the song, which he approaches even more lightly than even the beginning of the song! he introduces falsetto which i think is the first time we hear it in the entire song.
in conclusion, it’s clear he has a musical vision. he has a story he wants to tell, a message he wants to convey with the way he’s singing the song. it would have been easy for him to approach every single musical passage the same exact way, but he doesn’t. there are deliberate, musical changes at every step of the song, i would even go as far to say we don’t hear the same phrase repeated twice in the same exact way musically. even if lyrics stay the same, he is always trying to change something about the way he approaches it with his voice so the emotional message u get from the same lyrics changes completely. technically speaking, he has more or less the same things to improve on as always (engaging diaphragm, the placement of his voice-preferably not in his nose, etc etc).
tl;dr his vocal technique is still more or less the same but i thoroughly appreciate the effort he put into the musicality of the song

@imaginaryelle replied to your post:*me sipping tea* (x)
I would really enjoy seeing more of your thoughts on this, if you ever want to share them.
:’) a lot of my thoughts are salty rants and I’m TGCF on main right now so uhhh not at the moment but if you wanna hmu on like a chat thing of some sort I probably will eventually rant about my dislike of The MXTX Antis and the Problematic Culture people and the purity culture wank :’)
actually you know what, since I’m a parody of myself and I’m like always mood of "and another thing,” I’m just going to. go for it ig
Tumblr media
so my biggest thing, is with the MXTX antis/MDZS wank/MXTX wank. is like....god it FRUSTRATES me so fckn much lmfao in so many ways and on so many levels.  like listen. I’m not saying there isn’t stuff to critique in MDZS. But there’s people who are first off: critiquing the writing quality, when I’m like “there’s like a 90% chance you’re reading the EN translation, and probably from ExR, and honestly I know it’s not fandom etiquette to critique fan content bc we’re all doing this for free out of passion, BUT I do, in fact, have some major issues with ExR’s translation quality, and also I lowkey feel like they have a strong traditional yaoi bias and sometimes it leaks through in how they handle certain things.” Big mood of this twitter thread about how when you’re reading in TL you can’t be criticizing the writing bc you’re already reading it filtered and like. you gotta consider things like the TL’s own personal biases or takes, etc. Which I feel like some people don’t in their critique, or at least they don’t take the time to acknowledge it and instead start spinning off into more and more impassioned reactions to perceived slights or faults.
The other thing is like. I admit when I first read MDZS - which I did while simultaneously watching bc I was kind of using CQL as a vehicle to get into MDZS, I had the HARDEST time trying to read ExR’s translation when I was going into it cold many many many moods ago rip - I was also squicked out by the explicit scenes shown. It did remind me a lot of traditional yaoi tropes, and I wasn’t into it. HOWEVER I was also a psych major, and I want to point out that the T/N’s do read to me as having a strong yaoi bias, and also before ExR redid their site they had large “SERVING YAOI AND BL” banners on EVERY page lol. And I think that also primes people to see things a certain way. (I just. am :/ about ExR also bc like... their whole vibe as a “yaoi scanlator” and also I. can’t be sure the TL wasn’t 17 when they were tl’ing it lmfao,,  and they did the whole rant - which fine they apologized for, but I think sort of reflects on a general attitude still w/ the team - about how some other TL had bad quality or something, but their existing TL has a lot of clunky English phrasing and actually a lot of editing issues, too, I was creating myself a back-up copy from their site and like google docs was already catching a bunch of typos and tense issues and such :’) and that’s beyond clunky EN translation phrasing. I just am like. they have a patreon lol, so I can’t say ExR is doing it wholly not-for-profit/dollars, and also like... it’s not like they’re licensed? I get that within scanlation circles, there’s an etiquette of “first come first serve,” but with translation, I think fans are only served with more translations? but I also care about the original work lol, I mean I get the vanity of “I want MINE to be the AUTHORITATIVE tl” bc I feel that mood too, but also I’m like. fam you didn’t bid for a license lmao.)
But yeah like. My petty gripes with ExR aside lmfao, I think when you look at WangXian, the whole “it’s yaoi tropes” gets really strawman. Like from a Watsonian perspective, I mean like... both WWX and LWJ really ARE useless virgins, lol, WWX’s first kiss was stolen by LWJ and his whole idea of sex comes from porn; LWJ is GusuLan and like. yeah. Who is teaching them about lube? certainly not porn. (but this also gets into the whole. like people saying explicit material is “problematic” because it doesn’t show “realistic” sex and I’m like. fam it’s smut, not a sex manual.) And like... they’re both kinky and WWX has a pregnancy kink, and like... good for them I guess?
From a more Doylist perspective..... I think for me, I’m like. well why not? gay media doesn’t have to be uwu to be “Valid,” and like, the people who start attacking mxtx personally because of the way she chose to write WangXian, or saying she’s homophobic because of WangXian or she doesn’t have the range... I already Know they didn’t read TGCF or SV lol. (and yeah SV is more “problematic” but I also think it’s VERY genre aware and both satirizes and also plays with and subverts some of the typical genre “problematic” things. not everything, but like. again the whole idea that non-mainstream media needs to be held to a higher standard to not be cancelled? I don’t hold by that). [But more on the Doylist thing: it’s dumb to me that people react like it’s a moral failing of non-straight works if they don’t fit EXACTLY their personal idea of what a thing should be. And this comes up EVERY time there’s some new thing. hell it’s not even just lgbt-related stuff; Hamilton, Crazy Rich Asians, etc all had nitpicking. Which again, isn’t invalid! but also like. :/ because we DON’T have enough representation right now to pick, and my take is always: the solution is to get to the point where we can pick and choose and can afford to have bad media just like the straights/whites do :’)]
The thing about WWX and LWJ is neither of them, as they’re written in canon, fit within “traditional yaoi” seme/uke stereotypes. The kiss I see people rail against as “dubcon” and also their sex scenes but I’m like. yeah I think it’s fine to say it’s not your cup of tea but to say that that makes them traditional yaoi rapey tropes I’m like. Fam that’s not it lol. LWJ is shown as being SO incredibly responsive and attentive to WWX’s wishes and desires. I mean that’s examples of his passion exploding out, but we consistently see LWJ being respectful of WWX’s wishes and autonomy even when it like. fucks him/them over :’) like when WWX was so hell-bent on hurtling down the mo’dao route :’)
plus also WWX literally fantasizes about them retiring as farmers and he’s the one out working the fields and LWJ is staying at home weaving lol, like c’mon, ya wanna talk gender roles, let’s talk about this.
the other thing is the whole mxtx anti stuff about “she’s homophobic” and “she’s a filthy fujo” and I think there’s issues that people aren’t considering, which I don’t know as much about but I feel like it informs my consideration of mxtx - such as like... not everyone’s internet is as wide open as, like, the West. I don’t know so much about Chinese censorship other than it exists, but I’m like. I think this would affect people’s access to resources which would inform them about how things work/where people are with LGBT thought? It reminds me of when young tumblr kids trash talk older queer people for using terms they see as “problematic” now, and I’m like “you really gotta pause a moment of (1) have some empathy (2) consider the person’s individual personal and cultural context.” MDZS wasn’t made for a Western audience in mind lol, it’s not going to reflect Western values! And China has a different history with its LGBT progression and it’s m/m media, which I don’t know enough about to comment specifically, but I think it’s incredibly disingenuous to judge it based on Western standards. A lot of people probably don’t realize they are! in that it doesn’t even occur to them, which is why they feel so free with their judgment! But also I’m like. lowkey THAT’s a problem for me bc of like. cultural imperialism lmfao. and also reflective of EN-language imperialism, when people are judging EN tl’s they’re seeing on face value without realizing or considering that they’re...reading... a translation... and that translations are NOT in fact direct one-for-one and that there’s a LOT of considerations that go into both translating and reading a translation of a work.
I think the points antis pull up against MXTX is like... stuff she’s said before in interviews - and I don’t know from when, but I imagine years ago at this point - where she was asked about shipping the other characters in MDZS, and she said something I think about how to her, she wants to write in a way that “preserves realism” or maybe she believes in (I only read a TL of it, so I hold the exact phrasing with a grain of salt), and for her, not everyone is gay so she doesn’t write all of her named characters gay. and I’m like. whatever that’s her prerogative as the author. And I think there’s also something that I don’t know if it’s an official “rules”/”guidelines” she wrote bc again I’ve only seen secondhand/thirdhand sources, but it’s something mxtx-antis also quote, where she said to not break up the main couples and also don’t “reverse” them. but again when we’re getting into the shou/gong dynamics, that’s where I don’t feel comfortable commenting because I don’t know enough about the sociopolitical implications of these terms and how they interact within that fandom/community subset. But I do think people need to be taking the stuff they read - ESPECIALLY if they’re only reading it in EN - with a grain of salt. or like a big ol pinch of it.
edit: I know more about this now lmao and I know exactly which question people use piecemeal of vilify her. Here’s a recent-ish translation someone did. Read it through - the WHOLE thing, and think about the wider context.
But also in general I just don’t think anyone is valid when we start getting into ad hominems lol. Especially when I feel like they’re not really taking a moment to consider what wider contexts and influences might be at play and instead are playing Tumblr telephone with outrage and virtue signalling
sidebar: I also fucking HATE CQL purists lmfao. I don’t feel like I’ve seen or encountered anyone saying CQL fans are less valid than novel fans except in the sense of CQL fans getting defensive about their dislike of the novel - which, whatever, people have opinions - or decision not to read the novel and saying anyone saying they HAVE to read the novel is gatekeeping - which I hold to less but mostly bc I think it’s a fundamental misunderstanding of fan language, some of us say you HAVE to read it not in a neckbeard way but in a I’m so desperately passionate and I want more people to know about this way, kind of like how the “I hate you” in fan language GENERALLY means “I love it so much and I can’t stand it”? - but I HAVE seen people say the novel “ruined” wangxian, or CQL people who seem to be like... purity-wanking, like idk if you were around but god after Infinity War and the number. of fckn ironstranges. posting in the tags. about “love how healthy our ship is” and I’m like. this is still anti culture/purity wank but the other side of the coin 8). I encounter sometimes this lowkey attitude of CQL (or other adaptations) “redeeming” MDZS from the author, and I’m like. y’all are wack lmfao. There’s people wiht MDZS or even TGCF main, and they hate mxtx? and they say shit like “mdzs was only good on accident”? and I’m like. can you just leave lmfao. if you hate her then why are you here. (bc they’ve mental gymnastics this into a virtue ethics thing about “o the work is good and therefore morally fine but the parts I don’t like are because mxtx is morally bad and unworthy and tainted it, and CQL with its Purity has Redeemed it” but I’m like. this is because of censorship lmao. The team did a FANTASTIC job working the character dynamics and story, but like it also is directly because of censorship.)
like I... have more thoughts than this lmfao bc ofc I do, but anyway, here’s... some of them lol
