Hey so your post about Rudy's illness being a light world manifestation of a dark world status effect got me thinking for a game that deconstruct a lot of aspects of Turn-Based RPGs, one of aspect that Undertale seemingly does not address are status effects. The closet the game gets to addressing this is with the Sans's Karma effect, but is never really explained or expanded (though I can see that you can argue that it does show status effects exist in UT). While I understand it probably wasn't added due to it over-complicating the battle system, I kind of wonder with Deltarune's much more complex battle system (ie elemental pairs and being able to use magic) status effects are going to get address. (also as I type this but considering how it's implied Dragon Blazers is meant to be a parallel to DR, I kind of wonder that if Susie mention of your sister getting cursed in that game could translate to a "cursed" status effect in a later chapter)

Hm. I think Undertale not addressing something like status effects is mainly on account of the game being chiefly interested in deconstructing more nebulous, typically non-diegetic game mechanics. Plus, I'd personally argue the SOUL Modes are the game's answer to status effects, with Sans' Karma effect acting as somewhat of a anomaly/outlier.

Interestingly enough, there are already status effects in Deltarune, but there hasn't been much attention placed on them as of yet. Something that slipped my mind when making that Rudy post was that there already is a poison effect in the game, but I believe it only occurs when consuming the S.POISON item in battle. But perhaps this is something we're getting a soft introduction to before it becomes a more important mechanic.

There's also the "Trance" effect administered by the Thorn Ring, which serves more of a story purpose than it does a gameplay one. I actually think most of the status effects in the game will be in the vein of this one, which makes your idea of a "Cursed" status seem very viable.

I have a darling I care for very much, and we've been together for a while now. The two of us are soulmates, and I adore everything about him. He's so sweet and cute, just like a puppy, I want to keep him as a pet and not let anyone else even see him because I'm afraid someone will try to steal him from me.

The issue is we live in different states, and we decided to wait to move until we're both more financially stable, but I so badly want to speed things up. I'm getting so desperate I've thought of all sorts of ways to do it: kidnap him, threaten to hurt him or myself, anything to make him move in with me sooner.

I've been doing subtle things so far, like encouraging him to talk bad about his family and reminding him of how well I take care of him whenever I can, but I'm so impatient. I want my beloved with me now so I can make sure he's safe and that no one else is able to take him from me.

If money is your main problem here, there's a few simple solutions:

1. If you're a Sadistic type of Yandere, stage an "accident". Arrange for your darling to be injured, then sue your chosen perpetrator for an enormous sum of money. That's two people you get to hurt! Then, you can spend all your time taking care of your darling while he recovers. He'll be totally reliant on you. (This is slightly illegal, so I'll give you a few other options.)

2. Scare him. You've got the right idea-- kidnapping, threatening, that's all fun and games. But occasionally talking shit about his family and doting on him isn't going to get you anywhere. Maybe you're anxious. Maybe you think if you take it that far he'll be freaked out and leave, or decide not to move. Just remind him he doesn't have a choice. You'll be together no matter what, so it doesn't matter how long it takes for him to accept that.

3. Move to him. Right next door. That way you don't have to be afraid anyone will steal your cute little puppy. You can always be watching. Some darlings like to feel they have their own "space"-- and that might be the case for yours. He might be hesitant to move in with you because he wants to maintain a certain level of "independency". This option, best suited for Silent Yanderes, lets him continue to believe he's in control. Heh. We both know that isn't true.

I have actually made references to other works in the past. The chapter ‘Monsters and a Man’ way back in Road to Arkham was basically a whole ass Hunchback reference lol. Another reference to another piece of media I made that people might have spotted was Edward’s last conversation with Stephanie: ‘Promise me.’ Yeah, that’s going to come up again next chapter, slight spoilers and it’ll be pretty similar to the original context of the work being referenced.

i have no idea if this is the right place to ask or if anyone would even know the answer but - i've been enjoying baycon's stream more and more lately and i'm very sad that there is no archive for his vods anywhere, meaning i can only get "second-hand" vods mainly from steve or dumbdog's yt vod channels. does anyone out there know when (circa) baycon started hanging out with the gang? im pretty sure it was around summer 2021, but it would be cool to know when the first time they met was, or who the mutual friend that introduced them was?

they met through hafu (who knew baycon through the streamer becca (hafu's best friend) i think?) i'm guessing it was towards the beginning of hafu's valorant arc back in feb or march 2021 as that’s when steve starts appearing in clips on baycon’s stream. the only resource i have for hafu vods are from this playlist:

She also has a few older valorant vods highlighted on her twitch channel but nothing that goes back far enough i think.

and yes it's so sad when streamers have no vod channels to look back on. i've tried to find steve and baycon’s first meeting clip before but i’ve not been successful. i’ve tried baycon clips and some other places but i’ve had no luck. i guess no one really thought much of the baycon bros at first because usually people clip steve first impressions haha.

lure question: do the other members in aoryu really not suspect the true nature of jounouchi and kaiba’s relationship? or do they keep quiet because they know better than to risk kaiba’s wrath?

Kaiba is a pretty private (more like super paranoid) person so most of the gang doesn't get invited into the house. The exceptions are mainly the members of the Big Five, but Kaiba, especially at this point in the timeline, tries not to have them over. Both because he doesn't like them within his private home space and as a deliberate decision to keep Jounouchi divorced from his business affairs. So the typical rank-and-file have never been past the outer courtyard

When Kaiba was still in high school, Jounouchi's presence was more generally understood/written off as almost a bodyguard/lackey. Isono or anyone else in the Aoryu-kai cannot accompany him to or inside the school. School is generally understood to be a closed-off and safe enough environment, but Kaiba was taken once leaving school as seen in Everybody knows that teeth are where your heart once was.

Given their proximity in age, I think it's also reasonable that some might see Jounouchi as the closest thing that Kaiba has to a friend/confidant (and they're not technically wrong...).

But now that Kaiba's in college, he and Jounouchi are seen leaving and returning together less often than they used to. So the vast majority of their interactions are inside the house, away from prying eyes.

Generally, I think Jounouchi is understood as:

Not technically part of the gang, Kaiba very deliberately keeps business at a distance from Jounouchi, though there's probably a belief that Jounouchi will eventually be initiated

Open secret that Jounouchi's father owes Kaiba a lot of money so maybe Jounouchi is working it off as a live-in errand boy of sorts

Unclear how well Jounouchi and Kaiba get along with each other, but it's notable how his presence is tolerated in close proximity with Kaiba on the most part

Ever since the Tengoku incident, hassle Jounouchi at your own peril. Not only because you might risk Kaiba's wrath, but also because Jounouchi does and will fight back to a certain point.

If anyone does suspect the truth about the sexual nature of their relationship, it's probably Isono. But he won't try to verify it one way or the other.

If other members of the Aoryu-kai suspect not only their relationship or just that Kaiba's gay, that paints a huge target on Kaiba's back (cuz homophobia). It's the kind of weakness/character flaw that can get Kaiba removed from his leadership position.

There's this dude ghost in Aeonia that said something about wanting to see Malenia's blade dancing amongst the scarlet rot? I wonder if that means he saw her using her sword after the bloom. Pretty interesting, considering he probably died to the rot with that as his last thought.

It took me a minute to figure out which ghost you meant, but yes this guy right here:

I’m not sure if he would have seen much after the bloom as Malenia was unconscious right? Maybe he remembers seeing her fighting, then the next thing there’s scarlet rot everywhere and that’s the last thing he remembers. There are a few items/ghosts/npcs in the game that talk about her blade, she must leave quite the impression.

Then there’s this guy who’s up on the hill by the abductor looking out over the Heart of Aeonia.

This is the ghost I think a lot of people didn’t find or don’t know about when talking about how many times Malenia has bloomed. Controversial topic I know, but he does say “The very first flower of Aeonia” meaning the first bloom. Again, a lot of people are convinced she had bloomed prior to her fight with Radahn, but unless I’m missing something there’s nothing that says she had. Of course there’s also the flower in the room before her boss arena. Now these are just my thoughts here, but doesn’t a flower only appear upon death? If Millicent takes out the needle and dies on her own terms then no flower appears. However, if you betray her and kill her she blooms and a flower remains. Malenia ascends (or at least begins her ascension) during her fight with us, and then when we kill her a flower appears. She didn’t die back in Caelid, only knocked herself unconscious, and so I imagine that much like her phase two transition, the flower just dispersed and nothing remained. Only her. Sorry I understand this wasn’t what you initially asked, but talking about the ghosts in Caelid made me think of this guy too

2: Established Obikin are dance instructors responsible for different lessons. Half their students sign up to ogle them and immediately backed out after the first class, because those two are serious about teaching this.

3: Percy Jackson AU. Just a Hephaestus kid Anakin trying to impress Athena child Obi-Wan.

4: A pair of Obikin has to bump around the multiverse like a pair of really exasperated ping-pong ball, having to save at least five pairs of other Obikins in a week.

idk im getting massive reverse master/padawan vibes from this, because anakin as a master to young obi-wan would want to provide for him every way possible, up to being a literal bed for him to rest on. bonus points for careful grooming and feral hissing at anyone trying to disturb them. nice knowing you to the person who comes in and accidentally wakes obi-wan up.

oooo i've never thought of them as dance instructors before, but i do love it. bonus points if they're constantly using each other for their partners, even if the other does not know the first thing about the dance they're pulled into. it's just an excuse to press together. when obi-wan uses someone else to demonstrate a specific section of legwork, anakin gets very stroppy about it (practically hangs a bedsheet that says 'welcome home cheater' outside their shared apartment)

this is perfect greek god parentage in my mind tbh. anakin builds so many cool trinkets and obi-wan is secretly impressed with them all but in his mind even love deserves a battle strategy so he doesn't want to give ground and admit how nice he finds anakin's inventions. but he loves and keeps them all and offers notes and new ideas in return and anakin is even more in love

Hi, Concorde -whilst cool- was stupendously expensive to build and would be even more expensive combined with current fuel prices. Additionally, the specially-designed parts and tools would require training for a fleet of less than ten aircraft, which would be too big of an ask for either British Airways or Air France (only airlines who had any). Most of manufacturer Aerospatiale survives in Airbus. However, I think a new supersonic craft, called the Boom Overture (no joke), is being developed (although development is very slow). United is planning on buying an unrealistic high amount.

Sorry I went to sleep pretty soon after posting that I had a tiring day.

I know it was super expensive like the tickets 1.5k I think I just would have thought that it might have laid the groundwork for more supersonic jets during its 30 year lifespan.

Thats a dumb name for an aircraft but we'll hopefully something will come out of that. Especially if one airline buys a hell of alot of them.

While I do like the idea of Nini singing it, they could have gone with a better goodbye song because it is better fitting for pw. Like, the chorus works for her leaving, but the verses and the bridge fit where pw has been this season. Although, if that song was going to happen for pw, I think episode 7 would have been a better place for it than the finale. I just wish we were getting another pw duet this season.

Hey, I was wondering if you happen to have any sources that detail what in the hell is up with the history of "queer theory".

I'm a bisexual man in my 20's who grew up in a religious cult in the mid/southwest US, and so—as you can imagine—ignorant people who claim "queer isn't a slur" drive me up the goddamn wall. The fact people have the gall to say that to begin with tells me so much about how they must have grown up and currently live.

I have always hated the popularization of "Queer Studies/Queer History" and "Queer Theory" (and "The Queer Community", of course). The information you provided in your reblog of that user's post cemented my hatred for those terms, but I hadn't heard anything about their origins before. I'd deeply appreciate some sources for your claims or a point in the right direction to find out more about this because...I am now very intrigued.

I’m in a similar boat actually, as an LGBT southerner. I’ve never been in as severe a situation, but I absolutely understand where you’re coming from. I never heard the word used kindly until I went to college and even then…. It was very overly academic virtue signaling or clinical I guess.

As for queer theory, the godparents of the subject, Micheal Foucault and Judith Butler are both their own cans of worms and can be dug into at a later date.

However, the woman who coined queer studies as a term (as well as “homosocial”), Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick had a fixation on male/male relationships and insisted that male friendships had sexual elements. See: her whole career.

Queer theory was credited as being coined by Teresa De Lauretis, who was a contemporary of Foucault, founder of postmodernism and known pedophile. Her original theory is different from the way it is used currently, as it focused on opposing heteronormativity, a distinction between lesbian and gay studies, and focused on the racial bias of sexual preferences. All very fun stuff. Like all critical theory and postmodernism, it is Marxist and annoying.

Queer theory as we know it is very Marxist in the same way because of its inextricable roots and it’s core is subversive and assumes all subversion to be positive. It also takes the social construct approach to all things, including gender, sexuality, and consent. It also assumes because of its Marxist framework that there must always be an oppressed/oppressor divide.

The unfortunate issue with pulling up sources for a lot of this stuff is also because it is a critical theory, which is overly academic for the purposes of obfuscation because if they were to tell you outright that they’re seeking to upset and subvert all social norms of gender and sexuality you’d sure have some questions as to the specifics of that. I would have to wade through heap of essays from these people that I simply do not have the time for at the moment.

A few specifics however are of Gayle Rubin, writer of one of the founding essays of queer theory, who both wrote that gender is socially imposed and that we should seek a gender less society, despite the inherent impossibility of that aspiration, and defended pedophilic practices frequently in her most famous work Thinking Sex: Notes for a Radical Theory of the Politics of Sexuality.

Pat Califia, another big name in the area of queer theory and queer studies published an article in and voiced explicit support of the pedophilic publication Paidika, while simultaneously criticizing federal anti CP/CSEM laws, claiming that the laws “targeted gay men.” He also defended public sex in his essay, Public Sex: The Culture of Radical Sex, where he referred to young questioning men as “young faggots.”

Allen Ginsberg and Micheal Foucault were both active pedophile rapists who targeted young boys and were prominent figures in the queer theory and postmodernism movements, with the former being a literal member of NAMBLA and the latter advocating for the abolishment of age of consent laws and reportedly abusing many boys in Tunisia.

Judith Butler, another prominent figure and someone I even read and analyzed a handful of essays by in college classes, defended incest, claimed that gender is simply performative and a series of behaviors. This is all in her essay Gender Trouble: Gender Identity and the Subversive of Identity. She also claimed that we “need to rethink the category of woman” because of her own apparent insecurities with her gender expression, seeing as she now claims to be nonbinary. She also has referred to LGBT people as “queers” so there’s also that.

I posted this video a while back that goes into some specifics. And honestly this is just the tip of the iceberg.
