I can't sleep.
I lie in bed and watch soft speaking people pretend to rub the hurt from my bones, I lie and I close my eyes and I toss and I turn but my vision stays reliable and strong. My brain doesn't connect. As if a plug unwanted by its inhospitable mate was spat back out; I'm so tired.
I can't sleep.
And I wash five small tablets down with water to try to make my lids droop. Try to make my chemicals flow. Try to sleep.
I can't sleep.
And I've been crying again, awash with mental photographs of my youth and the horrible taste it leaves in my mouth. I'm small and scared again, no matter how many times I squeeze my fingers to remind myself that I'm here. Maybe it was the pills. Maybe it was just a migraine.
I can't sleep.
And I feel the pressure of hours digging deep into my chest, flattening out my ribcage until I can't breathe. Inhaler, inhaler, inhaler, and I can't sleep.

steve's desperate, okay?
he's officially running late for his first date with linda because he couldn't find his car keys and the shirt he wanted to wear just wasn't working so he had to grab something out of his hamper and throw it on blindly which then messed up his hair and he almost forgot to brush his teeth again but remembered as he opened the front door and-
he only realizes he forgot to put on cologne once he makes it halfway to her house and smells himself. the shirt from the hamper smells stale, not bad, just stale. and steve in his normal, non-rushed state wouldn't have noticed because his trusty calvin klein would have covered it up but today is apparently not a day for things to go right.
with a sigh of frustration, steve pulls into the hook's drugstore a little too quickly and it makes his stomach lurch the tiniest bit before sliding into an open parking sport at the front door. he rushes in, pushing the door open with too much force and books it to the fragrance aisle.
"this is so fucking stupid," he mutters to himself, unable to be heard by any surrounding shoppers over the annoyingly loud jingle playing through the speakers.
steve skids to halt in front of the cologne section, crouching down and scanning quickly over the tester bottles for obsession. once he spots the amber bottle, he yanks it towards himself, spraying as much as he can onto his chest given the awkward angle he's at. as he stands back up, steve pulls his shirt collar up towards his nose and the ball of nerves in his stomach loosens at the familiar smell. he may be late but he feels like he's back in the game.
checking his watch, he sees just how late he is and makes a beeline for the door, nearly running into an older lady with far too many rolls of toilet paper in her tiny arms. as he dodges around her and extends his arm to push open the door, he hears a loud voice over the intercom.
"you're not going to buy anything after stealing cologne?"
steve stops, freezes where he is and frantically turns his head around to spot the cashier grinning at him. he has long hair and a bright red hook's drugstore vest over a denim vest which doesn't look very comfortable. he has chains in his jeans and handcuffs holding his belt closed and a smirk that is trying to kill him and oh-
"wait, stealing cologne?" steve shakes himself back into existence as the old lady pushes by him without dropping a single roll on the way back to her car. "you're going to call me putting on a few sprays stealing?"
the cashier's smile just gets bigger, like a cat hunting down a canary. steve's never felt like a canary before but can't deny that it's an exciting feeling.
"well, on a good day i wouldn't. but i'm bored and you didn't buy a single thing so technically, yes. you're stealing, pretty boy."
steve fights the urge to roll his eyes and put his hands on his hips, so instead he crosses them over his chest, cologne wafting up from the movement and reminding him that he doesn't have time for this no matter how cute the cashier may be.
he makes his way over to the counter, grabs a pack of gum and slams it on the counter. without breaking eye contact with eddie, as his nametag suggests, he throws him a salty smile of his own and pulls his wallet out from his back pocket.
eddie's eyes are a deep brown with a glimmer of something behind them and his hands are covered in rings making his fingers look long and strong. the jeans he has on are ripped on one of the the thighs, showing a hint of a tattoo to match the ones crawling up his arms. steve's no stranger to thinking men are attractive but this guy? he's on a new level. his heart thumps painfully in his chest when eddie's grin grows larger as he watches steve give him a once over. it thumps even harder when eddie gives him a once over of his own.
the clock above the register shows that he's officially 20 minutes late to picking up... laura? lisa?
no, linda. damnit.
eddie looks down at the gum and then back up at steve, quirking up an eyebrow. "i hardly think this monetarily equates to a bottle of cologne but-"
"oh come on!" steve huffs. eddie laughs and it's clear and bright, ringing off the cinderblock walls louder than the annoying jingle that's still playing. whatever fight steve may have had left in him drains away at the sound and suddenly he isn't thinking about the clock anymore. he feels his shoulders fall down to a more relaxed state, feels himself shift his weight on his feet to look more natural than ready to run at a moments notice.
"just kidding, man." eddie rings up the gum quickly and hands it back to steve. "sorry, you looked like you were in a rush. i shouldn't have created a scene just because i'm bored."
steve chuckles. "i'm already supremely late for my date so what's another five minutes. especially if it gets me..." he looks at the gum packet to look at what he even picked up in the first place. "... spearmint freshen-up gum."
"well there you go," eddie says, grin smaller than before, "a perfect thing to get for a date. everyone likes their date to be minty fresh for that first kiss."
it strikes somewhere in steve that he isn't expecting. the beemer is still out in the parking lot running so he didn't have to waste time, his watch on his wrist feels heavy, the scent of obsession overpowering. but he can't make himself move. he wants to stay and talk to eddie, wants to learn about what makes him tick.
"can i borrow your phone?" steve asks. eddie's eyebrows furrow but he reaches for the store phone and places the console on top of the counter.
"for what?"
steve look through his wallet, finding the piece of paper with linda's number on it. holding the receiver between his shoulder and ear, he dials in her number and holds his pointer finger up at eddie, signaling that he'll need a second. steve then brings the finger to his lips and shushes with his cheek pulling up in a smirk. eddie's eyes zero in on the motion and it feels like steve's gone from being the canary back to the cat.
"linda? hey it's steve."
he watches as eddie mouths steve back at him and then nods to himself when he gets the confirmation that it is indeed his name. steve throws him a wink for good measure.
"i know i'm late and i'm really really sorry to cancel last minute but-. oh. yeah, sure. have a good time. okay bye li-."
on the other end of the line, linda slams down the phone without waiting for steve to finish talking and it makes him wince with how loud it is in his ear. he gives eddie a sheepish smile, all toothy and guilt-ridden, and gently puts the receiver back down.
"what was that?" eddie asks with a disbelieving look on his face. steve shrugs.
"she got tired of waiting so she already had another guy lined up to come pick her up."
eddie sucks in air through his teeth and mimes getting shot in the heart. it has steve laughing as he falls over on the counter, hair covering his face. he turns his head to peer up at steve through the curtain of curls, the one brown eye that's visible twinkling in the harsh overhead light.
"was it true love? are you just absolutely heartbroken?"
steve thinks about it for less than a second. watches how eddie curls back up one vertebrae at a time before placing his elbows on the counter and leaning over. watches how eddie's eyes flit between his own and his lips. watches how he focuses on the latter for a little while too long.
"why would i be heartbroken," steve starts. he's being too forward, too brash, but with eddie looking at him that way, he knows he can be. "when you'll probably be on break soon and can make it up to me? you know, for making me even more late and all."
eddie's grin grows wide again. "oh really?"
steve shrugs once more with a playful look of consideration on his face, resting on his elbows to match eddie on the counter. "yes, really. this is your payback for being bored and taking it out on me."
it's later when eddie's on break and steve hasn't left the drugstore in over an hour and they're sitting in his car with bowie playing through the speakers that eddie looks up at him with a look steve knows well.
"you do smell really good, y'know." his voice is softer than steve's heard it all day.
"so are you glad i came in to steal cologne?" steve leans closer over the center console to get into eddie's personal space. there's a hand curling over his bicep and pulling him even closer, their faces only centimeters apart.
"i guess i'll let it slide this time, thief."
and when they kiss for the first time, it tastes like the freshen-up gum they both had been nonstop chewing ever since steve paid for it.

this comes from @serasvictoria with this ask the prompt words were: pillow, caught, crush
Tumblr media
18+ no minors, angst leading to smut, vulgar, eddie talks about his dick and steve’s 😌
2.1k // eddie x fem reader
your ex hears you’ve moved on; is he ready to let you go?
send me a prompt!
“Don’t be a dumbass.”
Ringed hands were folded together, glistening from the makeshift dramatic lighting in Gareth’s basement.
In the summer, Hellfire moved locations from one member's place to another, rotating every Friday to a different place. A new aroma to tickle one’s nostrils upon entering whichever home was the designated spot for the evening, to host Hawkins very own hell bound teens.
Some homes were kept nicer than others, while Eddie’s trailer smelled like stale cigarettes and bong water, the Sinclair’s living room was pristine with updated furniture, smelling of warm vanilla and the smell of dinner still lingering in the air.
Gareth takes another gulp of Mountain Dew, wiping the lime colored beverage from his lips. Belching on the spot.
“Why would I lie about that?”
Eddie shifts in the folding chair leaning forward— the chain from his waist clinking on the metal, “whatever man, don’t fuck with me.”
Gareth grins, hands up in surrender, “listen dude, I’m just telling you what we saw,  no need to shoot the messenger.”
What Gareth and Jeff had seen weighed heavy on their minds. They had even contemplated on keeping it secret. The two couldn’t decide if Eddie should know or if it would hurt him— in the end Gareth opened his big mouth and blurted it out, in the most repugnant way imaginable.
The painted tin container used to hold dice was crushed under the weight of Eddie’s fist as he hammered it onto the table.
Jeff shook his head, sucking in a breath between his braced teeth, looking away from the soon to be manic Munson.
Eddie’s temper ran hot when it came to one thing—and one thing only, you.
Raking his fingers through his scalp, he kicks the back of his chair upon standing, ragged breaths in and out, eyes to the ceiling. You still had a hold on him, it had been months—and the only one who seemed to not be able to move on was him.
He chuckled, pinching the inner corner of his eyes and shaking his head, “one of you take over as DM, I gotta go.”
Bounding up the stairs before he could hear any bitching from his two longest standing friends, the carpeted steps squished under his quickened boot steps. Stealing a cookie from an iridescent colored decorative plate on the kitchen counter, Eddie stomped out the front door and to the paved driveway, starting his van with a flick of his wrist, pedal to the floor as he reversed onto the street, running over flower beds in his wake.
The daffodil warmth of the sun was high in the sky, a small stitch of wind blew the blades of grass gently, feathering the soft pages of your book every so often.
It was a perfect summer day as you laid out on your driveway, ass parked in a tiny kiddie pool from your youth, blue in color, the flimsy plastic circle was filled with cool water straight from the hose.
A few shots of spiced whiskey danced on your tongue and tangoed with the carbonated bubbles of the mixed in Coke, fizzing with each slurp from your straw, you don’t have a care in the world.
Admiring your freshly painted nails in the pastel bubble gum shade he had picked out— it was a stark contrast to the ruby reds you had been accustomed to— but those days were long gone, and things were finally starting to look up for you.
It had been four months since Eddie broke things off, claiming he needed ‘space to find himself’ and although you spent a majority of that time wallowing in ice cream containers and mopping up tears when you saw a brown set of curls, or heard the jingle of a chain wallet— you moved on.
He wasn’t from Hawkins. Didn’t know of Eddie at all, and you preferred to keep it that way. You were never ashamed of the boy you loved for so many years, the only embarrassment you felt was the night he ended things like someone would end a call after placing an order for pizza.
Like it meant nothing to him, like you meant nothing to him. But that was then, and you were happier now.
So when you looked up to see Gareth’s wide eyes staring in shock was not at all how you imagined your date would go. You had been caught red handed by his best friends, and you knew it was only a matter of time before he found out.
Toes twirling in the water you bobbed your head along to the music playing on the portable radio, sunglasses perched on your nose— not a single care in the world.
Until the music turned to something more familiar.. the screech of guitars and aggressive tempos, you could practically feel the warmth leave your skin as the dark cloud of Eddie’s van cast its shadow on your skin, parked in your driveway like he belonged here.
By the way he tore around the corner and through the stop sign— you knew he was pissed. The clunk of his rings scraped against the paint as he reached through the window to open the door—still broken.
“I don’t smoke anymore Munson, but if you’re offering freeb—”
“Who is he?” he interjected, in no mood for your joking tone.
Sucking your drink until the ice clinks together at the bottom—whiskey making you ballsier than you ever had been—you finally answer, “Who is who?”
He crosses his arms, trying to stay calm, although all he wanted to do was scream, “the guy, cmon princess, don't play dumb with me.”
Staring at him you can’t believe the audacity of the boy standing in front of you, coming here, demanding to know what’s going on in your life when he’s the one who practically skipped on his way out of it.
instead of stomping around and causing you a scene, you simply ignore him, “you’re in the way.”
“Huh?”
Pointing with a lazy finger to the sky you watch as his eyes follow, “don’t tell me you came here to bitch me out, you’re wasting your time.”
He leans in over your body so close that you can see the chocolate color of his eyes, eyes that you'd lose count of the times you’d stare into them.
“I’m not leaving until you tell me who he is.”
“Okay.” You say nonchalantly, unbothered.
“Okay?”
“Yeah go ahead, stay. ‘s long as you want,” you push yourself up from the pool, standing in a string bikini that matched your nails, “I’ll be the bigger person here, and I’ll leave.”
Water dripped down your thighs as you walked to the front porch and pushed the door open, ready to slam it shut and twist the lock upon entry—but a dark boot prevents your dismissal.
Rolling your eyes you try to kick his knee to get him to move but he wouldn’t budge, and you huff in annoyance.
“Pretty sure this is harassment.”
You ignore the way he walks in your house like he knew his way around, even though he did, your house was a second home to him for years.
Shutting the door with dramatic flair, Eddie leans into your space, inches from your nose, “just answer my question sweetheart— and I’ll be on my happy little way.”
“You’re deranged if you think I’m telling you anything.”
He cocks his head and laughs like a jerk, mocking you.
“Thata more than likely, but I know better than anyone,” his eyes undress you, fingernails skating across your thighs, “how much you like it.”
You turn and shout over your shoulder, “go home Eddie— I’m not in the mood for this!”
He barrels around you, demanding your attention.
“Aww you’re not in the mood?” his voice dipped to a gravelly bite of anger as he put his hand over his heart, “my sincerest apologies to your feelings baby…but I somehow don’t give a fuck about your little feelings when I find out from Gareth that you were sucking some guy’s dick in the Starcourt parking lot.”
Your face heats in embarrassment and Eddie’s eyes are glassy, coated with pain. You never wanted to hurt him, never wanted him to look at you the way he is right now.
“Ed—”
He smirks.
“I think it’s cute…honestly, still doing the same shit you did with me…” he moves to brush your cheek with his thumb, “I’m flattered.”
“Get out,” you bite back, making to shove him to the door but you’re no match for him.
“D’dya swallow for him like you did for me?”
“Get..”
“He bigger than me?”
“…out!” your shoves are fruitless against his broad shoulders.
“Last I checked Harrington was the only one who had me beat… unless you’re fucking him too.”
The slap startled him, but he knew he deserved it. The torment in your eyes was fueled by his words and he fucking hated himself for making you feel that way.
He was hurting too, body shaking with rage and swallowing tears the whole drive here. But, when your tears fell on the apples of your cheeks— all his pain turned to gloom.
“I’m sorry— I— That was a dick thing to say.”
“Do you think getting over you was easy for me?”
“I don’t know.”
“It wasn’t.. and truthfully I don’t think I am yet, but what fucking choice did I have?!”
“Babe—.”
“I loved you, Eddie… I still fucking love you. Why isn’t that—”
His large hands clutch your cheeks, warm lips press into yours with a magnetic force you had forgotten about. Eddie’s tongue tasted like the tobacco spice of a camel, and a subtle hint of mint, and you devoured it like you were starved.
He whispers and groans how he was so stupid, a real dumb mother fucker, and that he never should have ended it.
Accepting his apology—for now—you pull him towards the couch, heels rocking on the carpet until they hit firm on the plush sectional, still lip locked with the man you swore, that you hated to your friends but your pillow heard a different plea ever since he broke your heart.
His arms wrap around your waist, fingers daintily pulling the string from your bikini bottoms until the soft fabric hits the floor.  His Hellfire shirt joins them before you both collapse into one another on the cushions, Eddie’s hair draped into your face hiding you both away from consequences and the reality of bad decisions.
He breaks away from your lips to lick up the slope of your neck, and your head angles back in ecstasy. His body temperature was like fire against your skin, curling your legs around his back you couldn’t get enough of him.
“So fuckin’ beautiful,” Eddie grooaned, grinding into your naked cunt, his tongue kitten licking around your neck, working his signature hickey into your skin, “my angel.”
You moan feather light in his ear, fingers twisted into his curls. His hand works down your front, sliding between your slick folds with skills you swore only he possessed.
He played your body like a guitar, knew how to tune you up, the proper way to hold you. A true expert of his craft— your pretty little noises would harmonize from the simple touch of his fingers, your sweet cunt clinching onto him like vice.
“Missed that sound,” he chuckled, his bangs pushed up from the angle on your neck as you came undone, “so pretty like this… drunk on how I’m making you feel.”
Your eyes were pinched shut, chest heaving from the breath shattering orgasm you haven’t had since you got dumped by him. Nobody came close to the way Eddie could do it.
Kissing him square on the mouth, you twist your tongue with his, massaging them together as if a flame could spark from the pink wet muscles.
Intimacy with Eddie felt like home, like a warm blanket straight from the dryer when you were freezing. A cup of soup to soothe an itchy throat.
He melted into you, collecting each gasp you choked out with a kiss from his lips, doing a poor job of hiding the smirk on his face when your breath was stolen from his pistoning hips.
New— but entirely the same, your bodies fell back into each other like no time had passed and he made up for what was lost, twice. Each time your cries rang out like music to his ears— his favorite song.
You slept now, adjusting to his arm wrapped around you, a kiss to your forehead, and a new plea in your pillowcase— for Eddie to stay, forever.

BACKBURNER // LAST PART (Version 2)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
DESCRIPTION: She had grown tired of being on his back burner, the person that he had kept warm until he gotten the girl he has had his eyes set on for years... And with a little help from her friend, maybe... just maybe she'll finally be the first choice. PAIRING: Seungcheol x Reader | Mingyu x Reader GENRE: Angst & Fluff PART 4 | LAST PART - VERSION 1 | SERIES MASTERLIST | MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
She had quit months ago.
He actually was the one that had urged her to do so, making it a point to shame her each time he had caught even a hint of the stale scent lingering on her clothes or skin.
It was a nasty habit she had picked up during her last year of college – craving the thin white cylinder after a night out of drinking. He left her alone at first, at times taking a drag from the cigarette in between her fingers to prolong the buzz of the alcohol coursing through his body.
Unlike her, he was able to quit quite easily – cold turkey.
He had just woken up one day and decided the toxicity was too much for him and he just .... stopped.
Y/n was doing so well, opting to chew gum when she began craving her method of stress reliever; but tonight was her one moment of weakness.
After Seungcheol had left her and Mingyu's room, she attempted to distract her thoughts of doubt and panic by scrolling on her phone and when it wasn't enough, she tried sleeping.
She tossed and turned in her bed for the fifth time when she decided it was no use, kicking off her duvet and bounding to the ABC store across their hotel to purchase a pack of reds.
Mingyu had yet to return from the gym; and truth be told, she was glad.
She didn't want to face him – not while she couldn't even look at herself in the mirror.
Y/n had grown frustrated by her thoughts that seemed to attack her instead of properly creating coherent ideas – coming to a conclusion that she had been the root of all her problems.
If she had just listened to Mingyu and Minghao's warnings when Seungcheol had first swiped up on one of her stories, sending her heart eyes instead of properly complimenting her, she wouldn't be in this situation in the first place.
And if she had just listened to the one logical voice in her head when Mingyu had suggested to fake date, she would have been able to actually get over Seungcheol – as opposed to landing her in a situation in which she and her best friend kissed.
Possibly ruining their friendship.
Though, he seemed to pay no mind to it.
And maybe that's why it bothered her so much.
He was so nonchalant.
"That's a nasty habit you got there." Minghao's voice brought her back down to earth as he joined her in the darkness of the designated smoking area of the hotel – an unlit cigarette in between his lips.
Exhaling a cloud of smoke through her nose, she let out a small laugh – handing him the white lighter she had been toying with in her hand.
He was the only one Mingyu hadn't been able to persuade into quitting. Though, he did cut down significantly; smoking only a few days out of the week.
"Don't tell him." She took a long drag.
It was sarcasm.
Mingyu would be able to tell the second he stepped into the room; he had a nose of a blood hound and knew her signature scent in a crowded room. Her smell of sweet pea and vanilla will be over powered by the grey haze.
She'll worry about his reaction later.
"Why are you out here? Something happened?" He knew her well enough that she wouldn't be smoking for no reason.
The last time he had last seen her with a cigarette in between her lips was after her first day of working in the NICU – venting to him and Mingyu that pushing on to keep her parents happy with following their wishes of her being a nurse was a mistake.
She had nearly smoked a quarter of his pack that day, Mingyu having to pry the carton from her hands; convincing her to accompany them to get dinner instead.
The two spent the rest of the night telling outlandish tales of their most recent Tinder dates to distract the girl, keeping her mind off of her desire to put in her two weeks and wallow in self pity.
"Plenty." Y/n licked her lips, not knowing where to begin.
The two were never shy of sharing their deepest thoughts with one another. They had spent many nights dissecting their minds in her best friend's apartment. She always did cherish how brutally honest he was, not caring to sugarcoat any of his opinions and advices – and she did the same.
"Seungcheol told me he chose me." The nicotine that once gave her a dull buzz felt like a full vibration the second she uttered his name, almost as if it was a forbidden word.
Minghao simply nodded, his bottom lip jutting out.
She kept her eyes trained on the stick that had burned halfway, nestled between her pointer and middle finger.
"But Mingyu and I kissed." Y/n said in almost a whisper; recalling to the warmth of his delicate touch on her cheek and how perfectly their lips fit together. "Made out, actually."
He remained unfazed, nodding once again. "You're confused."
He read her like an open book. He was always good at reading people; some sort of witchcraft probably.
"The reason why I agreed to this shit in the first place was because of Seungcheol. I wanted to be his– but when he told me– when he said he chose me." She put the cigarette back up to her lips. "All I could think about was Mingyu."
She thought she would have been happy to hear him say those words.
"It's you. I chose you."
The person who she was a few months ago would have leapt in Seungcheol's arms without a second thought; happy that she was finally his.
But the change happened so slowly that not even she felt it. The air had shifted without even noticing it; she had slipped from him... and straight into Mingyu's arms.
Y/n had allowed Seungcheol to spill his guts right in front of her, frozen in her spot – unable to muster a single word except an "okay". He had ambushed her the same way she had done during that god forsaken night at his apartment.
She knew he expected more, leaving her room with his shoulders low. Y/n had also expected more from herself; but she wasn't able to complete a single sentence.
The only thing running in her mind was the kiss she had shared with her best friend hours ago. The one that had provided her a new sense of calm, almost as if her world had stopped the second his lips touched hers.
"Are you saying you have feelings for him?"
Mingyu.
"I don't know."
"What do you know?" He pried.
Minghao was always good at asking questions to allow her to properly sort through the mess in her head – simplifying her thoughts.
"I know that this has been the happiest I've been in a while." Y/n began.
Maybe it was the island, hypnotizing them with the warm sun and the surge of dopamine that their false reality that it had provided them during their trip. Or maybe it was the fact that Seungcheol hadn't rattled her brain in a while, Mingyu giving her the distraction she needed.
"I know that I agreed to pretend to date Mingyu for Seungcheol." She went on. "But I also know that it no longer feels like it's for Seungcheol."
In the beginning, their actions were calculated – each one of their instagram posts and fake dates were all for a targeted audience. The two didn't dare cross any lines, keeping a close eye on the end game they both wished to achieve.
The past few days, it seemed as though the line had become quite blurry; especially for her. At first, she thought it was simply because she was finally getting used to the forced close proximity she and Mingyu put themselves in.
She didn't dare bat an eye to all the small moments where he seemed to dote on her, meeting all the needs she didn't think needed to be met. Because it was all things he had done before.
Except now, she was starting to look a little too hard into all his actions.
And it was all because of that fucking kiss.
All those times he answered all her silent questions, making sure there was always a smile on her face, the small gestures, his attention to the minor details of her daily life... They now had her double guessing. All because the man she could have sworn she wanted all this time, had never once dared to do any of it all.
If Mingyu had attempted to kiss her before, at the beginning of their arrangement, she would have pushed him off. She would have given him an earful for even trying to lean in.
A second into his lips locking with hers, she found herself melting into his touch – almost as if her body had been waiting for that moment.
She could have sworn he wanted it as well, being the one to initiate it. He was the one that deepened the kiss, gently pulling her face closer to his – as if she could get any closer than she already was.
Y/n couldn't help but feel a bit conflicted when Mingyu had chosen to dismiss it as if it was just another normal occurence between them; her insecurities slightly feeding into the thought of her just being as one of the girls on his roster.
The feelings she once had for him during their high school days slowly began to bubble back up, remembering all the times she caught herself staring at him in class – wishing he could open his eyes and fall for the girl he called his best friend.
It was a small crush.
And who knows, maybe this could just be her younger self finally fulfilling her life long dream of being with the boy that had helped her with her algebra homework – consoling her as she cried at his dinner table when she couldn't understand why the alphabet was needed to be added into a math problem.
She was .... very confused.
This was all supposed to be about Seungcheol, and now she was wishing he had never come into their room in attempts to make peace.
"Why don't you sleep on it?" Minghao suggested.
"I tried. That's why I'm out here smoking this damn thing." Y/n scoffed at her actions.
She always did hate how easily she reverted back to her unhealthy habits, especially when she had finally made progress.
Minghao opened his mouth before shutting it back again, hesitating if he should even tell her the conversation he had overheard earlier in the day. He had always gossiped with her in Mingyu.
But this wasn't something simple as finding out that his coworker was cheating on his wife with someone else in their department, or the fact the Hansol took Mingyu's little sister out on a date last month.
No, this could drastically change the group's dynamic. It was all so messy.
More importantly, he was always a firm believer of allowing his friends the freedom of making their choice – not wanting to meddle in the possibility of ruining their chances of them learning their lessons.
He was sadistic like that.
Warning Mingyu about how messy fake dating didn't count – he was an idiot and he wanted to save himself from hearing more about how in love he was with y/n all while she was too blind to see it all.
"If I tell you something about Sunhee and Cheol, will it make the organization of your thoughts easier?"
The thing was, Minghao was holding on to a key information that he was itching to spill out. And he was, eventually.... He just didn't think Seungcheol was stupid enough to approach y/n the same day.
He under estimated how his friend's brain operated.
He wasn't supposed to overhear the conversation between the two, but it wasn't his fault they had chosen to have an argument in public – all while he on the other side of the bushes taking pictures of the scenery before him.
Y/n nodded for him to continue. "Shoot."
"Look, they fought earlier." His voice low, as if there could be any one else that could over hear them in the empty smoking area. "He wanted her. He told her it's her he wanted and she blew him off."
She let out a laugh in disbelief, shaking her head.
Of course. Of fucking course.
Y/n wasn't the first choice.
She was still and will always come before Sunhee. He had chosen her because the girl he wanted had given him the hard no.
She thought she would be heartbroken, but instead a new emotion had overtaken her – something that she hadn't once felt towards him.
All of a sudden, y/n began to see red.
Seungcheol had only wanted to make peace because he had nothing else left, and he thought she was stupid enough to fall right back into his trap.
Why did she ever think he'd ever see her as anything else but a seat filler? It was as if Minghao casted a spotlight an all of Seungcheol's actions – shedding light on all those moments she had chosen to turn a blind eye to.
The relationship she had always wished for, the small sweet moments she and Seungcheol shared were nothing but supercuts – a collection of good memories that seemed to have over powered all the others that had left her broken.
All the times he had left her hanging, forgetting the promised dates, leaving her messages on read, and endless nights of nothing but tears came flooding back – and instead of sadness and pain, she felt anger.
How had she let it get this far?
"I know that you're hanging on to the possibility of him changing– and who knows, maybe one day he will. But it's definitely not now." Minghao shook his head.
"You know he told me he wanted to do it right. He said he wanted to earn my trust." She let out a laugh. "God, he's so– He's–"
"An idiot? Dumbass? Asshole?"
"All of the above." She walked over to the metal bowl, putting her cigarette out – digging it into the accumulated ash.
"Sleep on it, yeah?" Minghao called out as she continued her journey to the entrance of the lobby.
・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.
The sound of the curtains opening, the warm rays of the morning sun hitting her face caused her to stir in her sleep, slowly blinking her eyes open – a blurry Mingyu digging in suitcase was the first thing she was greeted by.
She had been asleep when he had arrived back from the gym – not bothering to wake her to notify her that he had brought back the chips she had requested. Opting to place it by the night stand that had divided their beds.
"Morning." She croaked, sinking deeper into the mattress.
Turning his head, he nodded at her before going back to searching for a shirt and swim trunks.
It was their last day before the wedding festivities began and he had under estimated the amount of garments he needed to pack for the trip – despite her warnings of packing extra outfits "just in case".
"You smell." He mumbled.
Mingyu had caught a hint of the stale odor when he had entered the room last night – a scent that had grown accustomed to as it lingered in his apartment balcony due to his roommate's need to fill his lungs with the grey smoke every once and while.
"I– uh, yeah." She didn't bother coming up with an excuse, nor did she have the energy to fight it.
Just as Minghao suggested, Y/n decided to sleep in it. There was no need to make a decision anyways, it wasn't like Mingyu felt the same way – and it wasn't like she had given Seungcheol the final answer.
The only conclusion she had reached was that she was tired. She no longer wanted to be in the middle of a mess due to relationships. More importantly, not the ones that had left her second guessing.
She and Mingyu agreed that their little game of charades would end by the end of the trip, and she would leave it at that. She'll worry about whatever feelings he had unearthed when they got back to the mainland; when the blanket of false reality that covered their friendship has been lifted.
And with the Minghao spilling the truth about Seungcheol's sudden decision to make his pick between her and Sunhee, she knew that she could no longer tolerate him and his little games. Not anymore.
Not when she no longer feels the same way she did months ago.
"Everything okay?" He kept his back turned, almost as if he was afraid to meet her eyes.
"Yeah, just– my brain is a little loud again." Her eyes was trained on his back.
He nodded, setting his choice of outfit for the day down atop of the rest of his folded garments before turning to face her. "Want to let me in?"
Chewing on the skin inside her cheek, y/n sat up in her bed; crossing her legs. He took this as an invitation to take seat where her legs had once taken space.
"If it's about–"
"Seungcheol talked to–" The two began simultaneously, pausing when they both heard one another speak over each other's voice
"You go first." He motioned for her to continue.
Truth be told, he wanted to be left in the dark. Mingyu didn't want to know what had gone down in their room when Seungcheol paid a visit.
Not when he already knows what she was about to say.
He had unfortunately run into Seungcheol in the hallway the night before, his friend giving him the heads up that he had finally made a choice.
Not only that, but he had requested for his assistance.
To allow him to make a move on y/n, to be exact.
Mingyu felt sick to his stomach the remainder of the night, unable to properly work out with Joshua and Soonyoung at the hotel's gym due to Seungcheol's voice ringing in his ears.
"I get it. I'm not your top pick for her, but– I need you to help me."
Mingyu was well aware they had agreed to end their arrangement by the end of the trip, he was completely fine with it. Up until Seungcheol had made him realize that this reality was fast approaching.
Not only that but the fact that he would lose all chances with her completely. As if he even had any chance, judging by her reaction from their sweet moment atop the jeep yesterday – chances were slim to none.
Seungcheol was the reason as to why they were pretending, after all. He made his decision and it was the one she had been waiting for.
All her hopes and dreams of having a relationship with Seungcheol was finally going to come true.
"Seungcheol told me he picked me." Y/n swallowed.
He didn't dare blink or react to the words that had left her lips.
And she couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed by his lack of emotions.
"That's good, right?"
God, someone just shoot him right now.
She shrugged. "Want to hear the kicker?"
He nodded for her to go on.
"Minghao overheard him telling Sunhee that he wanted to be with her just hours before he came and talked to me."
There was the expression she was looking for.
All the theories, the conclusions that he jumped to, were proven wrong.
His brows furrowed, the corner of his lips curling. He was angry.
"You're joking."
Y/n shook her head, letting out a small laugh. It was a pity laugh.
"You know what, fuck him." Mingyu rolled his eyes. "Had the fucking nerve to ask me to allow him to–"
"What?"
"What?" Mingyu replied quickly, realizing he had let his emotions overtake him – spilling his interaction with Seungcheol just minutes for he had entered their room.
"What did he ask you?"
Sighing, knowing that there was no way she was going to let it go. "I ran into him on the way to the gym. He told me all about his plans– God– I believed him. He seemed so sincere. He– "
Groaning to herself, Y/n leaned back against the headboard. "Stink, I'm so tired."
He looked at the girl, his eyes softening at the sight of her in pure defeat. His heart ached to see the girl he had been pining for, raising the white flag after the constant emotional beating she had received from Seungcheol.
Especially when he knows he could treat her far better.
"Come on," He reached to pull her up by her arm. "Just a two more days and you wont ever have to see him. I'll– I'll make sure he doesn't come anywhere near you."
"Thank you."
・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.
She scoffed at his acts. Watching as he laid his towel down in between Joshua and Jeonghan, actively avoiding Sunhee.
Seungcheol made it a point to make eye contact with her whilst he did this, almost as if it was his way to tell her that he was staying true to his words from the night before.
Y/n continued to apply the tanning lotion on her bare skin as the rest of the group happily helped themselves to the spam musubi Seungcheol had so generously bought just before they had all met at the beach – mumbling "It's warm this time." only for her to hear when he had set it down.
She couldn't believe it, but his efforts made her feel sick.
"Want some?" Mingyu asked, offering her a bite of the rice wrap.
Y/n shook her head. "Kinda craving an acai bowl, if I'm being honest."
Mingyu knew she had declined because it was purchased by Seungcheol and not because of the reason she had just said. He didn't dare press on the open wound, allowing for her to sit in silence as they listened to Seungkwan babble on about the prank Soonyoung and Chan had pulled on him earlier this morning.
The two boys had managed to get a copy of Seungkwan's room key from the front desk, ambushing him at the crack of dawn – putting on an act as if he had over slept and had missed the wedding. He had been so exhausted from the past few days, half asleep as he allowed for the false sense of panic from his two friends to trick him into getting dressed in his suit.
The group had doubled in laughter as Soonyoung jumped in, claiming that Seungkwan was nearly finished with buttoning his white long sleeve when he had realized it was all a joke.
"I never thought I would hear 'asshole, fuckers, sons of bitches, loser low lives' all in one sentence." Chan laughed, hitting the sand.
Joshua clutched his stomach, wiping the moisture from his eyes. "Oh my god, ow."
"Idiot." Mingyu laughed, shaking his head.
"I miss having us all together." Jeonghan hummed as the laughter subsided, leaning back on his elbows. "We should have more destination weddings."
"Not everyone is bleeding money like you, Han." Joshua snickered.
"Seungcheol is." He countered. "Doubt he'll marry soon, though."
"Pretty sure our only hope is Mr. Finance Bro and Ms. Nurse over here." Seokmin gestured over to Mingyu and Y/n – with their joint income, there was no second guessing they'd be able to ensure an all expense paid trip for the whole group.
"Yeah, if she doesn't break up with me." Mingyu snorted.
He was planting seeds in their heads for their inevitable end.
Y/n bit back the frown that threatened to form in her lips, not wanting any of it all to stop.
Stupid fucking kiss.
"Thin ice buddy." She joked, playfully shoving him.
They were playing a role, after all.
"Please, as if you two could find a better match for each other." Jeonghan rolled his eyes. "We've all been placing bets since junior year."
That caught the two's attention, Mingyu choking on a single grain of rice; nearly turning red from coughing.
Unbeknownst to the two, their friend group had been conspiring behind their backs – exchanging knowing glances with one another whenever the two bickered.
They claimed that they bickered like an old married couple, and it would only be a matter of time before they decide to resolve their small argument with a kiss.
Y/n disguised her shock with laughter, reaching over to pat Mingyu's back in attempts to soothe him. She didn't know how much more new revelations her poor brain can take.
This was not helping her thoughts, whatsoever.
"Don't act too surprised." Jeonghan laughed. "Speaking of, if I remember clearly, Seungkwan and Hansol you guys owe me $200 each. I take Zelle or Apple Pay."
"Doesn't your bank account have enough zeroes?" Seungkwan sassed.
"A bet is a bet."
"That we made years ago!" He cried.
Thankfully, the boys had decided to drop the subject – going on about the remaining few hours of their day lounging about on the sand.
Y/n had pulled her sunglasses over her eyes, shielding her from the sun and Seungcheol's lingering stares. It was almost as if he was waiting for any chance to speak to her, at times joining in on any conversation that had involved her or Mingyu.
It was stark difference to how he had previously been acting towards them in the past few days, joking around with no trace of his snarky tone or snide comments.
Mingyu chose to go along with change of attitude in his so-called friend, keeping his act going strong – as if Y/n hadn't told him about his sneaky plans of getting her back.
Don't get him wrong, it angered him. If he had it his way, Mingyu would have confronted Seungcheol in a heartbeat.
Maybe even landing a punch.
But he also knew it wasn't the right time or place, not when it has been years since the whole group was complete.
The girl laying next to him on the other hand had made her emotions quite obvious to Seungcheol; purposely avoiding his eyes when it was his turn to speak and choosing to pretend to not hear any of his attempts to spring up a conversation.
"Play nice." Mingyu mumbled only for her to hear as he leaned back on his elbows, going down to her level.
"I don't know what you're talking about." She smiled sweetly. Her way of feigning innocence to her recent actions.
Chuckling, Mingyu couldn't help but playfully pinching the tip of her nose; scrunching at his touch. "Watch out, they might catch you being a raging bitch."
"I still don't know what you're talking about." She hummed.
Mingyu had to fight yet another urge to lean down and plant a kiss on her lips, finding her a little too cute with as she continued with her oscar winning act.
Biting his lip, he sat back up on his towel – their distance had become quite dangerous for his liking and he didn't want another repeat of yesterday. "Gonna go play with the guys, wanna come?"
Glancing at the half empty row of towels, Y/n let out a sigh. She wasn't in the mood to be tossed by the waves that were currently crashing on to the shore – but it was far better than being left behind with Jihoon, who she barely knew, Joshua, and Seungcheol.
"Fuck it." She sat up, taking Mingyu's hand that had stretched out in front of her – helping her up off of the ground.
He didn't let go.
And she was more than happy with allowing his fingers interlock with hers as they made their way to the water.
・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.
She had gone ahead of Mingyu, leaving him behind the small dining hall Jeonghan and Eunji had held their rehearsal dinner at – her social battery blinking at 0%.
Y/n felt the shapewear she had worn under her dress dig into her stomach, the strap of her heels cutting into her toes – she needed to change out of into a much more comfortable attire.
It wasn't like there was much else for her to do down there anyways; most of the family and friends that had been invited to the small gathering have retreated back to their rooms not too long before she had excused herself.
She knew if she stayed any longer, she'd just get talked into drinking more mixed drinks with the few that had stayed behind – and she wasn't really in the mood to have a hangover during the wedding.
Y/n could see her hotel room door, when she heard footsteps fast approaching behind her.
It was almost like a trauma response, she immediately knew that pace of walk – speed walk to be exact.
Seungcheol.
God, when will it end?
Turning to greet him, she was caught by surprise to see that he had closed their distance quite significantly – standing only a foot away from her.
"Did I do something wrong?" He asked, breathlessly.
He wasted no time slipping out of the hall when he had noticed she had bid her goodnight – following her up to their floor.
"What are you talking about?" Y/n deadpanned, pretending to not understand his sudden question.
"I–you've been avoiding me all day." Though she wasn't being too discreet with her actions, she didn't exactly think he would be able to catch on to it.
He never did paid attention to her before, anyways.
Apart from her active decision to give him the cold shoulder earlier at the beach, Y/n had successfully done the same during the rehearsal dinner.
She had kept her eyes on everywhere else but him, even going as far as leaving the glass of wine he had so kindly retrieved for her at the bar – claiming the one glass she had finished was enough.
Only for her to take sips of Mingyu's whisky the remainder of the night. He didn't care to protest, offering her the glass after he would take a swig himself.
"I thought we were on the same page." Seungcheol went on. "I– I said I chose you, and I'd prove it. I– you said okay."
Y/n didn't dare fight the urge to roll her eyes, his face flashing a look of confusion at her sudden hostility. "Do you think I'm that stupid?"
"Wha– what's going on?" He looked around, as if it was some hidden camera prank – waiting for a crew to jump out and surprise him.
"Minghao overheard you two at the ranch. He told me everything."
Silence.
He was dumbfounded and she was not even a bit shocked that he seemed to have lost his ability to speak.
She knew that he didn't think she would ever find out about what had happened between him and Sunhee – and judging by his reaction, he was never planning on telling her.
"You didn't choose me." Y/n scoffed. "Sunhee rejected you."
"What difference does that make?"
Y/n felt the blood under her skin begin to grow hot.
He was so fucking dense.
"You don't get it, do you?" She took a step towards him; Seungcheol nervously swallowing as she closed in on him. "You didn't choose me because you wanted me. You wanted a seat filler, a replacement. I'm not going to be your backup plan because your original one failed. I'm not going to be that girl anymore."
Anymore.
"Wha– oh my god... you fell for him, didn't you?" The light bulb in his head had turned on. "You're blowing me off because of him. You know he's not going to treat you any better–"
"Than what? You?" Y/n interjected, crossing her arms over her chest.
"I mean, you said it." Seungcheol shrugged, that stupid cocky smirk playing on his lips – that same one that had been painted on his face during their first few days on the island.
She began to feel the beat of her heart thump against her chest, the anger consuming her. He knew how to get under her skin, and he knew how to do it well.
He had been caught red handed and she knew he wasn't going down with a fight.
And neither was she.
"Being with him made me realize that the time I had spent with you was nothing but a waste of my time."
"You know it's not real right? When we get back home, he'll go back to his old ways."
His old ways.
Back to the line of girls that had waited for a chance with him.
The smirk on his lips grew larger as he watched his words get into her head, knowing that he had struck a nerve. "He's just like me, Y/n. You may not choose me, but running to him won't serve you any better."
"Fuck you." Y/n gritted her teeth, clenching her fists at her side as she fought back the tears of frustration that threatened to fall from her eyes.
She hated that any hint of anger made her cry.
And God, was she fuming.
"You have, multiple times." He raised his brows. "Remember?"
That was the straw that broke the camel's back.
Her hand was far quicker than her brain. It wasn't until her palm collided with his cheek that she had fully processed what she had done.
It was long over due and it felt good.
"Whoa, what's going on here?" Mingyu's voice called from the end of the hall – quickly running over to where the two stood. He had slowly made his way out of the elevator when he heard the loud smack echo through the walls – sobering him in an instant.
Mingyu had wedged himself between the two, using one arm to move y/n's body behind his. He wasn't too sure what had taken place, or what had prompted the loud sound – but he knew it wasn't anything good.
Nothing Seungcheol was involved with has ever equated to the word "good".
"I think it's time for you to go to your room, Cheol." His voice firm, towering over the man in front of him.
Seungcheol didn't need to be told twice, scoffing as he turned his heel towards the other side of the corridor.
"Are you okay?" Mingyu's eyes wide as he faced her, placing both hands on either side of her shoulders as he scanned her. "Did he hurt you?"
Y/n shook her head as the pads of his thumb wiped away the remaining tears on her face. "I slapped him."
"Oh." Mingyu paused.
"He– I can't believe I defended him for so long." She sniffled.
A wave of embarrassment crashed into her as she recalled all the times she had made excuses for all his actions like her life depended on it. She could have sworn the man she had initially fell for was not the same one she had just faced, unable to fully wrap her mind around what had just taken place.
"Everyone makes mistakes." Mingyu used the sleeve of his button down to wipe her nose, earning a laugh from the girl.
"I don't have snot, you idiot." Y/n lightly smacked his arm away.
"I know." He laughed. "Just wanted to make you smile."
Seungcheol was wrong. Though they had shared some similarities, Mingyu was nowhere near like him.
Especially not when it came to her.
Mingyu had and will always treat her delicately. He would never dare say or do anything to hurt her.
Like he said a few days back, he'd do anything for her happiness.
Getting over him may just be far more painful that getting over Seungcheol.
・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.
To say the setting was beautiful was an understatement; the grassy lawn of the hotel had been transformed to any bride's dream.
Various kinds of white flowers lined the rows and the altar, creating a sight that only a girl could have imagined and pinned on her pinterest board.
Y/n's breath had been taken away when she had first taken a seat, snapping a few pictures before they were instructed to put all their devices away for an unplug ceremony.
She couldn't help but be in awe as the each second passed, shedding a few tears when she had caught a glimpse of Jeonghan's lips quivering at the sight of Eunji making her way down the aisle.
"Jeonghan," Eunji spoke into the mic, taking her turn to profess her vows in front of their guests; a wide grin on her face. "People often talk about how difficult relationships are and I happily can say that I can't relate to them. I get that relationships takes a lot of work, but being with you have never felt like this. It's like I clocked into a shift with my favorite coworker. Our days have always been filled with laughter, the only tears you've ever brought me were when you would make those stupid silly jokes that I love so much. They say love is hard but our love has been the easiest part of my life. And I guess, it's because you have made it so easy. You're not only my life partner but my best friend and I can't wait to start this new chapter of our life together. Today, as I stand here in front of our families and friends, I Park Eunji take you Yoon Jeonghan as my lawfully wedded husband."
While everyone clapped, some wiping away their tears, Y/n couldn't help but let here eyes stray to the line of groomsmen that stood behind Jeonghan — her eyes meeting Mingyu's who has had his eyes trained on her even before Eunji began her vows.
Everything Eunji had described about Jeonghan was what y/n had come to realize about Mingyu two days ago. That easy love, those days filled with laughter, the silly jokes – they were all connecting back to Mingyu.
Y/n had always thought that when someone was in love, they felt butterflies in their stomach – creating a restless buzz each time they were near the person they were destined to be with.
She had mistaken the lack of butterflies whenever she was around Mingyu as her not actually having any feelings for him – but simply being caught up in their act of faux lovers.
This whole time, it was because he brought a new sense of calm upon her. She had been in a constant state of fight or flight for such a long time that she failed to realize that he was the only one that could pull her out of it all the chaos that surrounded her.
He was the calm after the storm – hurricane to be exact.
Sending her a wink from where he stood, Mingyu couldn't help but crack a smile as she returned it.
・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.
They were both returning from the bar, each with a drink in hand, when the sound of familiar chorus of voices blared through the speakers.
It was as if they the same thought had ran across their mind at the same time, exchanging knowing glances before letting out a soft laugh.
Baby I'm yours. And I'll be yours until the stars fall from the sky.
It was their song.
They were both well aware it was a love song, but they didn't care. It had held some weird attachment to the two, being the first song she had recommended to him when they were teenagers.
It was her poor attempts of hinting her feelings towards the boy at the time, but his undeveloped frontal lobe never put two and two together – finding the melody of the song beautiful.
She had played it countless of times around him that when he had later heard the song without her, his mind went straight to all the times she would softly hum along to the tune.
She had pavloved him.
This song would follow them throughout the years, having it's fair share of being blasted in their cars or apartments – obnoxiously dancing and singing along to the old time tune cover.
They were at their assigned table within seconds, setting their drinks down. Before she could even take a seat, Mingyu had stepped in front of her – holding his hand out.
"May I have this dance?" A playful grin on his lips.
He wasn't going to waste this perfect opportunity. It was their last night together as a couple.
Their last dance.
He was never going to have this same chance again, and he was going to make the most of it.
One last time.
"You may." Y/n laughed, taking his hand – allowing him to lead her to the center of the room, joining other paired up bodies.
"Oh gross!" Minghao pretended to gag as he took their unattended drinks – claiming it as his own.
"Yours until the poets ran out of rhyme..." Mingyu sang, spinning her.
A giggle emitted from her lips as he caught her, dipping her before they swayed like two idiots.
"I didn't get to thank you for last night." Y/n relaxed her arms around his neck.
After they had gone back to their room, he allowed her to join him in his bed – patting her back as she cried into one of his pillow. He listened until she had fallen asleep in the middle of her endless rant — rambling on and on about how stupid she was to allow Seungcheol to continuously break her heart.
Mingyu didn't dare wake her, knowing that the her emotions had taken a toll on her. Instead, he allowed Y/n to stay – making sure not to cross the metaphorical boundary he had drawn in his head as she lightly snored on the left side of the bed.
By the time she woke, he had already left the room – having joined the rest of the groomsmen for their scheduled breakfast and pre-wedding game of golf.
Not without a text notifying her of this, of course.
Not that he needed to tell her, it was out of pure courtesy.
"S'fine. I just hope the next guy you date doesn't give you a hard time." Mingyu shrugged.
He had hoped the next and final guy was him.
"Are you getting tired of wiping my tears?" She countered, playfully.
"Tired of seeing you cry over men." He corrected.
"Me too." Y/n sighed. "I think I won't date any guy until I find the same kind of love Eunji described. You know, the easy kind. The one that makes all the shitty days not seem all that bad."
She maintained her eye contact with him as she spoke — and if he had been able to read her thoughts before, he would be able to tell that she was describing him.
"It wasn't a mistake." Mingyu hoped he had guessed her unspoken words correctly. "I meant it."
He was talking about the kiss.
Y/n felt her breath hitch in her throat — coming out as a hiccup.
She had initially felt unsure about her feelings towards him — afraid that it was nothing but her mind playing tricks on her.
But she also knew him better than she knew herself. The second she had caught his stare after Eunji's vows, she had never felt more sure in her life.
He had felt the same way.
It was only a matter of how either one of them was going to bring it up.
"How long?" Y/n knew that he wasn't one to act impulsively around her — she hated surprises.
Even the good ones.
She knew that if he truly meant to kiss her, it was something that he had been thinking of for quite some time now.
"Been waiting for months now."
"Months?"
"Maybe even years." Mingyu replied with a shrug.
"Years?"
This was it. He was going to finally allow himself to tell her the same words he had recited over and over again in front of the mirror.
As the final chorus of the song began, Mingyu allowed for the singers voices to drown out all the other noises around them — his eyes blurring everything but her.
"It's always been you." Mingyu's voice was soft, his hand reaching up to tuck a loose strand behind her ear. "To me, there was never first, second, third, or fourth choice. It's you."
He looked at her in pure adoration, his brows turned down and eyes filled with stars — a look she had never seen before.
"It was you when you spent nearly every day waiting for me to finish basketball practice in high school. It was you when you stayed up all night to help me study for my econ final at the library our sophomore year in college. It was you when you rescued from a shitty dinner at my parents five months ago. It's you now and it's going to be you tomorrow, and the next day, and all the days after that."
All while she was hoping to be the first pick in Seuncheol's life, she had been the first and only in Mingyu's.
He didn't dare keep a spare — he knew no one could measure up to Y/n.
As the song wrapped up, he stepped away from her — giving her one last spin before pulling her back in. "I hope it's me too." He whispered.
Taking his hand, she guided him away from the chaos of the party and out into the stillness of patio, with the only thing to be heard was the muffled music behind the closed doors and the distant sound of the waves crashing on to the shore.
"You know, you never gave me butterflies." Y/n began.
"Did you bring me out here to rej—"
Y/n held her hand up, stopping him mid sentence. "I guess I was so used to the emotional rollercoaster that all my exes have put me through that I began mistaking that gut feeling, you know— the one that warns you that something was a bad idea— as butterflies. Whenever I'm around you, I don't feel anything in my stomach because I feel safe."
Mingyu's confusion had once again turned into adoration, practically melting into her hand as he clung onto her words.
"That easy love Eunji spoke of, the one I said I wanted. It's you." Y/n continued. "You're the easiest part of my day— hell, you're the easiest part of my life. Whenever I'm with you, I have no worries, no doubts. It took me a while but, it's yo—"
Mingyu couldn't wait any longer, he was practically bouncing on his toes before he closed the gap between them — swooping down to capture her lips with his.
"Wait—" She pulled away with a giggle. "I have more to sa—"
Mingyu shook his head, dipping back down to meet her lips. "Save it for your vows." He mumbled.
Vows.
Pulling away once again, y/n gave him a look — all while he pouted.
How many times was she going to do this?
"Wha— don't tell me you said all that with no plans on marrying me."
"Are you saying you want to marry me?" She emphasized.
Mingyu used his thumb to gesture over to where the reception was currently being held, his head tilting. "Did you not just hear what I told you on the dance floor?"
"Yeah but—"
"Exactly, so can I please kiss you now?"
"Yeah okay—Ah slow down." She held up a finger, wagging it at him. "I swear to God, Kim Mingyu if you break my he—"
"Shut up, stink." Kissing her for the third time in under five minutes — smiling as he felt her relax under his touch.
All those heartbreaks, the tears he wiped – they were finally ending.
War has ended.
Y/n was finally in the arms of the man that never dared to put a frown on her face, getting the love that she deserved.

。‧˚ʚ°ɞ˚‧。 ───
mere mention of apples brought a fond smile to your lips, thinking of Joker's peculiar fondness for everything apple-related. from his shampoo to his gum, his love for the crisp fruit permeated every aspect of his life. you even gift him home fragrance with apple taste. and especially joker liked sweets with apples, all kind of pies, muffins, ice creams and etc, everything with apples. and when you stumbled upon the viral tiktok video featuring the famed apple croissant, you knew it was the perfect choice for your date. you immediately sent a link of that café to Joker. no need to say that date idea was approved in a second.
as you rode the metro toward the new cafe, anticipation for your date with Joker bubbled within you. dressed in your best outfit and with your makeup flawlessly applied, you were ready to make this a day unforgettable, preferably without any distractions from his “colleagues.” or so you thought.
but just as you were lost in thoughts of sugary delights and stolen moments with Joker, a notification from him shattered your reverie. Your smile faltered as you read his message, the words weighing heavily on your heart. “sorry, im in the bar, Wooin said it emergency. don’t wait for me, maybe ask your friends and have fun. i’ll be late. sorry.”
with a sigh, you decided to continue the date alone, and buy that damn apple croissants, unwilling to let Wooin's interference ruin at least your evening. the idea of waiting for your girls seemed futile, knowing they likely had their own plans for evening.
when you entered the cafe, when you were paying for your croissant, you still couldn’t get rid of unpleasant idea. you knew Joker hated it when you stepped into his “work life” and saw him fighting in the actagon. but since Wooin decided to take him away from you so brazenly, you thought that there would be nothing wrong with you grabbing him after this stupid match, and taking a take out bag of croissants with you, you headed to that ill-fated bar.
。‧˚ʚ°ɞ˚‧。 ───
as you walked into the dimly lit bar, the contrast to -at least expected- date was stark. the once vibrant excitement for sharing apple croissant after that damn match had faded, replaced by a sense of disappointment and frustration. the air hung heavy with the stench of alcohol, mingling with the faint undertones of stale sweat and spilled drinks. each step you took seemed to echo against the grimy floor, the stickiness clinging to the soles of your shoes, a tangible reminder of the less-than-inviting atmosphere.
despite your reluctance, you made your way through the crowded space, weaving through intoxicated patrons who stumbled and swayed in a haphazard dance of inebriation. the cacophony of voices, laughter, and clinking glasses assaulted your senses, drowning out any semblance of peace or tranquility.
as you approached the bar, your eyes scanned the dimly lit room, searching for the familiar figure of Joker amidst the chaotic scene. and then, like a sudden chill down your spine, you felt the unwelcome presence of an arm slung over your shoulder.
"hi there, little thing," came Wooin's voice, dripping with an unsettling mixture of familiarity and condescension. words sent a shiver down your spine, his presence a stark reminder of the intrusion upon your plans and the disruption of your evening.
despite the façade of casualness in his tone, there was an underlying tension, silent dislike, Wooin never liked your presence, Joker was distracted, which means he did his job badly. you resisted the urge to shrug off his arm, instead steeling yourself with a forced smile, masking the turmoil brewing beneath the surface.
in that moment, surrounded by the oppressive atmosphere of the bar and the unwelcome company of Wooin, you couldn't help but feel a sense of betrayal, both by Joker's absence and by the intrusion of his colleague into your plans. it was a bitter reminder of the complexities of relationships, the delicate balance between loyalty and disappointment. and then your heart sank. the crowd roared, drawing attention to the center of the bar. to the octagon. people seemed to be chanting someone's name, and it clearly wasn't Joker’s. Even though Joker protected you from this world and did not allow you to appear at his fights, you knew he never lost, so why was the crowd rooting for someone else today? these and other thoughts were constantly running through your head.
as you watched in disbelief, Wooin approached you with a sly grin, his words cutting through the chaos of the bar like a knife. "you see, darling," he began, his voice dripping with malice, "Joker's task tonight is not to win, but to fall." the revelation hit you like a sucker punch to the gut, leaving you reeling with shock and betrayal.
as the fight in the octagon reached its climax, you stood frozen in the midst of the raucous crowd, your heart pounding with a mixture of fear and disbelief. you couldn't tear your eyes away from Joker, his form battered and bruised. Wooin's words echoed in your mind, Joker's gaze found yours across the sea of spectators. In that moment of connection, you saw the pain etched in his eyes, a silent plea for understanding and forgiveness.
as the final blow landed, and Joker stumbled to the ground, you felt a surge of anguish wash over you. it was a bitter pill to swallow, knowing that his fall had been orchestrated not by his opponent's strength, but by the cold calculations of those who saw him as nothing more than a pawn in their game.
。‧˚ʚ°ɞ˚‧。 ───
in the quiet solitude of the changing rooms, you found Joker sitting alone, his hands trembling as he attempted to patch up his wounds. without a word, you approached him, your hands reaching out to gently grasp his own.
in that moment of shared vulnerability, the weight of the world seemed to lift from your shoulders, replaced by a sense of clarity and resolve. and as Wooin's departing footsteps echoed in the distance, leaving you alone with Joker, you knew that this was your chance to confront the truth that lay between you.
with a trembling voice, you said “you know that you always can stop doing.. this..” after thinking a little, you added "and start with something new..." you looked around the small room, meaning all his work in general, "well, less violent". Joker just smiled at you and with a trembling hand reached for the bag that you had brought with you, his fingers brushing against the delicate pastry nestled within. with a bittersweet smile, he took a bite of the apple croissant, savoring the taste of sweetness and redemption that lingered on his lips.

Friday I’m In Love
A/N: So jokes on me because I didn't expect to love Eddie Munson this much. @allaboardthereadingrailroad told me he was going to be the it girl of this season and I said absolutely not.
Warnings: Smut, lots of it. Drug use. Judgemental teenage girls
Parings: Eddie Munson x Plus Size Reader
Summary: Eddie invites you to his show, and holy shit. You show up.
Tumblr media
“Remind me why the hell were here again?”
You’d never been to The Hideout, a shitty hole in the wall off the highway outside of  town. You’ve driven by it like, a thousand times and never once had the urge to go inside. Now, as you stand next to your friend, Shelly’s, mom’s Subaru in the half empty parking lot your nerves are going haywire, over eager to walk through the doors.
“Because, we were invited”  you answer simply. Duh. Sweeping more glittery lip gloss on and fluffing your hair before adding “plus it’s not like we had anything else to do”
“We could literally be doing anything else then this- isn't Clair throwing a party tonight?”
“Yeah, but all her parties are always like, major depressing. Ever since Heather you know”-you  make a gurgling choking sound and cross your eyes “Its like, why do we have to do a toast to the dead girl, every party. I get once- but it feels redundant”
You get it. Claire and Heather were best friends. You’re also not in the mood to go hold her hand while she cries about it. Again.
Also, Heather had put gum in your third grade. So-
“For one- you're a horrible person” Shelly accuses, shaking her overly curly head “For two, we could’ve gone to the movies or something”
“You think the theaters boring, plus like. Won't it be fun to try something new? Come on” you grab her hand and pull her along behind you. Sparing one last glace at the familiar van, parked idle towards the front of the lot.
“So like, this has nothing to do with you and weirdo Munson, right?”
“Right- and its funny the way that you only think he’s weird after he sells you weed. Asshole”
Well- its not like you we’re expecting anything fancy from the Hideout. No expectations, no disappointment, right? The bar is the textbook definition of a dive. The lingering smell of stale beer hits you straight in the face as you walk in. Seedy lighting that makes everything look shadowy and almost green-
“Oh look! They have pool tables!” you point out because that could be fun. Maybe?
“Oh great” She replies, voice fasle sugar sweet before dropping “I want to leave”
“Shh” you elbow her, hard. “We just got here. Play nice”
And she does, for the most part. Sit down at one of the sticky tables with you. Avoids the looks of the bar's patrons- older. Wasted. White trash, for sure. You wouldn't talk to them, not ever but like. Whatever. You can just ignore them. That’s easy enough.
Especially when they get on stage. The Dark Wizards, Eddie at the lead. Even though he's not singing, even though he’s off to the side with that bright cherry red guitar of his. He’s the star.
“We’re the Dark Wizards, and we’re about to rock your mortal world”
You don't know when this…thing you had for Eddie developed. Somewhere between smoke laced conversations and late nights glued to your phone, him fighting the shitty static of his own line to talk until one of you called uncle, the thing had taken a life of its own.
He’s odd. Yeah. But no other guy has ever been this nice to you. Eddies odd, but he’s not cruel. He’s not like the asshole jocks or elitist math nerds. He’s not even like the rest of his leather clad D&D playing posse.
You wish you could get everyone else to see that. Get your friends to see that.
The singer is trash, the drummer can't keep a beat to save his life, but the guitar riffs are melodic. Smooth and sharp, and your heart catches the tune and beats in time. Blood flow slowing and stopping until your all but hypnotized.
You clap and cheer and cant manage to tear your eyes away until the final note plays, their set is over-
“Oh my god, you're so into him” the statement is disgusted, mostly. Fascinated. Your friend looks at you like she's watching a car crash- violent and bloody, but she can't take her eyes off of it.
You just shrug because like. Yeah. Obviously.
“Oh fuck no” she groans, face palming hard.
Eddie hurries out from behind the stage, which is really just their supply room. Grinning from ear to ear, beaming arms spread out wide. “Look who came!”
“You invited me, I told you I’d come” You try to contain it, but you're giddy. Even more so when he throws a gangly arm around your shoulder. “It’s no biggie”
“No biggie? You came all the way out here to see little ol me. Huge biggie, my friend. Huge” He holds his heart with his other hand dramatically-
Always so dramatic. Always so enamoring.
“You deserve a drink. A real one, what is this?” He dips his pinky into your friend's drink and her nose scrunches up something fierce and offended “Sprite? Nah, that's a peasant drink. Bartender kind sir- pour us something strong. And…fruity”
The bartender, who looks like an Ex-con, actually makes a mean Mojito.
------------
“It’s totes okay, I’ll call you when I get home, yeah?”
You're in the parking lot, again. Except for you're not leaving in the car that you came in.
Shelly’s tucked into the Subaru, staring out at you with all knowing eyes.
He’s just going to drop me off at home.
Uh Huh.
Seriously.
“Yeah whatever you better call me later- I want all the dirty details. Use protection- bye” she waves before her tires screech, hauling ass away from the Hideout. You flip her the bird all the way.
“Okay let's blow this popsicle stand” you plop into the passenger side of the beat up old van, bouncing along as you go. Glad for the low cut blouse you’d donned because Eddie's eyes follow your chest, comically, animatedly. Up and down.
“Whatever you say, mi’lady. Your house?”
“I mean- I don't have a curfew or anything on the weekend- we could go somewhere else. If you want to?”
Eddie looks pensive, lips pursed, before a light bulb goes off in his head.
“Want to go to the end of the earth with me?” He questions as he reverses, and well. How can you say no to that offer?
-----
The cliffs of Sattlers Quarry are jagged and high. Eddie parks too close to the edge- takes you out. Holds your hand tight as you screech, not being able to look over for more than a second.
“Its okay,” Eddie chuckles, herding you into the open back of the van. “I come here all the time, were all good Y/L/N.”
The seats are ripped out, posters of dragons and bare tittied ladies plastered on the metal walls. Black Sabbath plays lowly from the crappy speakers and he lays an armful of threadbare blanket down for cushioning, for the two of you to curl up on.
You cling to him just to do it. Keep close as he rolls the cleanest joint you’ve ever seen. Spark and smoke and laugh- all attached to hip. He talks about Tolkien as fluidly as he does Karl Marx, he likes pineapple on pizza and was born the day before Valentines. Cats are superior to dogs, and he like lives off of peanut butter crunch cereal.
His dad split when he was in eight grade and living with his Uncles not so bad, really. It’s kind of like rooming with a chill homie, but definitely nothing like having a real parent.
“I'm boring you aren't I? Just tell me to stop, and I’ll zip my lips. Locked. Key is thrown, right off that cliff” He makes the motions, zip. Key, tossed and you lean your face into his jean clad shoulder.
“Mmm, no. I like listening to you talk” its not a lie, not the usual shit you blow up guys ass. Everything out of Eddie’s mouth is unexpected, he tells stories with words. Vivid pictures, film on a loop. With your lungs burning and THC running through your system it's even better.
“I like you. In general” Eddie whispers, and you hide your face even more. He shrugs you away though, turning. Face to face, no way to run from his dark eyes “I like your eyes” he leans in, and you think finally he’s gong to kiss you. Instead he gets close enough. Blinks fluttery fast, his lashes against yours. Butterfly kisses
You shake your head, cheeks burning, chest tight.
“And your hair? I really like that- even if it is better than mine which is rude. And don't even get me started on your perfume because that? That’s my favorite. And your-”
You slap a hand over his mouth pushing until he gives way. Until your on top thick thighs caging his waist “Stop it, jeeze I lied. I hate your voice, shuddap!”
He makes a few muffled attempts, squirming a bit before giving up.  Going lax, bringing his hands behind his head and looking at you with dark eyes that shine and sparkle. He's enjoying this, and the long languid lick he gives to your hand shouldn't feel as good as it does.
You like Eddie, like the way he feels. You like the way he lets you be who you want to be, do what you want to do. Other guys would’ve thrown you off, too heavy. Too dominant. They didnt want to play, but Eddie. Eddie’s wanted to play with you since you hit that doobie behind the gym.
You unbutton your blouse slowly, letting him watch you. He can have it. All of it. Everything. You unhook your bra and those dark eyes go wide.
“This okay?” you ask, taking your hand off of his mouth, resting on his shoulder.
He nods, quick, adam's apple bobbing “Are you even asking me that right now? Yes, fuck yes I am a-okay. The best, really-”
The kiss you cut him off with is messy, too much tongue. Too much want. Why had you wanted this long? Maybe it should’ve have been more romantic- but then again maybe it is? It’s own version of romance, its own courting and dating and being cared for.
Eddies hands are everywhere, eager and exploring and its almost funny until he thumb brushes over your nipple, just on the right side of rough, making you  gasp sharp into his mouth, and grind down onto his hard lap in tight circles. Eddie pulls away, just barley. Dragging his slick mouth acros your jaw, down your chest, your hands fist tight his hair as he runs the flat of his tongue along the nub.
It feels too good, mind numbing. Base instinct, two teenagers and in a fogged up car. Breathing eachothers air, tasting each other spit. Fumbly and needy, too fast.
Struggling out of your clothes, you wiggle out of your tight acid washed jeans as Eddie shed’s layer after layer- Hell Fire Club Tee, Leather Jacket, Denim vest. The floor of his van littered. You’re tugging on your pink panties when he blankets himself over you, pushing you back down. The blankets rough on your bare skin.
Eddie’s a weirdo, not a virgin. And most importantly, he’s good with his hands. The long ring donned fingers work magic. The real life kind that gets your back arching and has sounds that would embarrass you to think about later clawing their way from your throat. Feels almost too good as he rests his forehead against yours, noses bumping as he pounds his fingers in and out of you.
He likes it, watching you squirm, watching your hips shift every time he tries to pull his hand away.
He keeps condoms in the glove box, mostly for show. Hope. The off chance that some girl gives him a chance and wants to hook up- once in a blue moon shit. He’s glad for them now, even if it means pulling away from a whining writhing you
When he slides back between your thighs it's a heady feeling. He’s almost vibrating, shaking out of his skin, nervous excitement making him clumsy. He  misses. Doesnt slide into you easily, the two of you shifting and giggling, gasping and nosing at one and other until.
Oh.
There.
The inhale you take is shaky and sharp and Eddie groans and buries his head in your neck. Breathing in your sweet perfume as his hips begin to pump.
“O-oh my god. Eddie-” You stutter, holding on to his shoulders. He’s not the thickest guy you’ve been with, but his dicks long. Longer then average forsure. Jabbing at that place inside you, pleasure pain bursting behind your eyelids and you cling to his shoulders. There's no real pace, not from the nineteen year old, but the friction of sweaty bodies feels good, the rocking rhythmic and almost peaceful as you stare up at the van’s ceiling. You like it, the way he moans, the way he tells you how it feels- he really doesn't ever shut up.
Its quick, you’re young and Eddie’s never been with anyone who feels so tight. You can tell when he’s close, when he speeds up to nothing more then a dirty, desperate grind. When his whole body goes taught and his arms tighten around your waist, holding onto you as he rides it out. As he shakes and shudders, needing the grounding. You hold him in the cradle of your thighs.
He pulls out with a hiss and slumps, heavy and boneless on to you and you stroke his back, trail your fingers across his shoulders soothingly. It felt good the minutes that go by in overexerted bliss. It wasnt like you weren't used to not getting yours. Guys just had a one track mind, right? No big deal, you’ll handle it when you get home-
Eddie's head perks up from your chest. Almost like he could read your mind, Isnt that one of his D&D elf powers or whatever?
His animated, recovered enough to have regained that mischievous look. He waggles his tongue, vulgar and pushing corny
 “Your turn, mi’lady”

Heart Shaped Box- (Warren Lipka X Reader)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Description: Your childhood best friend surprises you at work with a gift on Valentine’s Day.
Word Count: 2.1k
Warnings: none, unfortunately. (Besides weed use)
A/n: I was going to make this a longer fic with smut but I just really wanted to get this posted tonight 😭
Tumblr media
Oldies Country tunes and static buzz from the outdated stereo as I restock the candies at the check out. I glance at the wooden analog clock above the exit; 9:00pm
“One more hour,” I sigh to myself as I trudge back to my stool behind the register. Working for my parents at their corner store is nice. It’s slow, I’ve known all of the regulars my whole life, and if I completely flunk out of college; at least I know I have a job. But something about sitting here alone on Valentine’s Day with the smell of stale (possibly mildewed) air and my Ma’s collection of taxidermy squirrels dressed up to look like the seven dwarves doesn’t seem fitting for a 19 year old girl. Especially since my parents went to Dollyworld for valentines day, leaving me completely alone. (Dollyworld is like Disneyland for people in Kentucky)
The rusted bells hanging above the door chime as cool air floods into the small store. I don’t bother looking up until the footsteps stop in front of me. My mood immediately lifts when I see a familiar face
“Hey, man! No date tonight?” I ask my best friend while he slips his lighter into his flannel pocket. I can smell the lingering smoke of a cigarette on his fingers as he reaches for a pack of gum on the display near my head. He flashes his dimples as he leans down onto the counter.
“Eh, it’s a stupid capitalistic holiday,” he shrugs as I reach down to grab him a pack of Newport 100s.
“Mmm okay Casanova,” I laugh as I take his cash. “So did you pick up from that new guy?” I ask excitedly when I remember that he was supposed to have picked up bud from out west.
“Mhm,” Warren smiles as he pops a piece of gum into his mouth. “That’s why I’m here, nerd. Let’s go spark,” he says as he turns on his heels.
“Warren, I can’t. I still have almost an hour until I can close,” I frown at the boy who’s slowly stepping towards the door.
“Oh, come on. Your folks are out of town, they’ll never know,” he smirks as he rests a hand on the door handle. I bite my lip, looking around the store, then back at Warren.
‘He’s right. I mean it is a holiday, after all, Most places close early on holidays,’ I look at Warren and do my best to fight back a smile. He looks at me with a shit eating grin, knowing I can’t say no to him.
“Give me 5 minutes to lock up,” I giggle as I pull the cash drawer out.
I closed the store faster (and worse) than I ever have. Within 5 minutes I’m hopping into the passenger seat of Warrens car. The familiar scent of stale smoke hits me in the face as I settle into my seat.
I shake the few snow flakes that found their way into my hair out as I turn all the heat vents towards me.
“Someone oughta’ shoot that groundhog for lying to us,” I joke as I rub my hands together hoping to get some warmth from the friction.
“Here, this will warm you up,” Warren laughs, fighting back a cough as he hands me the joint. His voice comes out raspy as the smoke rolls out of his mouth. I take the paper from his hand that’s cast in a yellow haze from the dim light shining from the side of the store.
As I take a hit from the joint I lean back in the seat before exhaling. The smoke tastes piney and almost a bit floral as it fills my lungs. After coughing so hard that I drool a litttle, my muscles relax almost instantly as the buzz fills my body.
“Damn, this really is good shit,” I laugh with my scratchy voice as I accept the drink warren has offered to me.
“Oh good. I’m glad you like it,” he smiles before twisting around his seat, reaching into the back. As he scrummages around his car, I take another hit.
“Dude, what are you-“I begin to question the boy but he cuts me off.
“Here it is!” He exclaims, before sitting back properly in his seat with a red heart shaped box in one hand and a mixed CD in the other. I quirk an eyebrow, waiting for an explanation. “Uh, happy Valentine’s Day, er, whatever,” he says with a small laugh, handing me the box. “I know I said that it’s stupid but, uh, ya know you’re a good friend or some shit,” he mutters with lidded eyes as he sets the red box in my lap. I can’t help but giggle at his awkwardness.
“Oh! Uh, thanks dude! I didn’t know we were doing presents or I would have gotten you something,” I say as I focus my attention on the red box.
“Nah don’t worry about it. Open it,” my best friend nudges me, seemingly very excited about his gift for me. I side eye him before handing him the joint so I can pop the box open.
I Take off the lid to reveal the expected assortment of cheap chocolates, but some of the spots of have been replaced with nugs. I look at Warren with a shocked smile and droopy eyes.
“Wow,” I laugh, trying to think of something to say. The THC in my system makes it a bit difficult to find something genuine to say to this unexpected kind gesture. “You really know what a girl wants,” I nudge him as I pop a piece of chocolate into my mouth. Warren chuckles as he inserts the burnt CD into his stereo.
“Yeah well I got hungry on the ride over here… figured I had to fill the empty spaces with something,” he teases. I laugh as I lay back into my seat. My ears perk up when I hear the intro to ‘November Rain’ by Guns N’ Roses. I lazily turn my head to quirk an eyebrow at Warren who looks almost nervous.
“You hate Guns N’ Roses,” I say with a small, confused smile, awaiting him to offer an explanation as to why he’s playing a band that he constantly complains has ‘sold out’. Warren let’s out a breathy chuckle.
“Yeah, uh, I do…” he looks away as he scratches the back of his neck. “But this is the song that was playing when the principal chased me around the gym for spiking the punch at our 8th grade dance, remember?” He explains, finally mustering up the courage to meet my eyes at the end. A laugh bubbles up through my chest as the memory comes flooding back to me. Warren had seen some kids do it in a movie, so naturally the 13 year old boy thought it would be brilliant to dump fireball into the fruit punch.
“Oh my god I forgot about that!” I wheeze, laughing so hard at this point that tears are coming from my eyes. “You got suspended for a month because you were convinced that ‘the cinnamon would complement the tropical flavor,’” I shake my head, finally catching my breath after my fit of laughter. As I wipe the tears from my cheeks, I notice Warren just staring at me with a goofy grin. There’s a glint of something in his eyes that I just can’t quite put my finger on… admiration, maybe.
“Yeah I was pretty stupid,” he laughs as he relights the joint. “But don’t forget that while he the principal was chasing me, you laughed so hard you pissed yourself,” Warren challenges as he hands me the spliff. My jaw drops before I slap him on the arm in mock defense.
“Hey I almost pissed myself. A little bit running down your leg doesn’t count,” I laugh as I blow the smoke out, watching it ricochet off the foggy windshield.
“Sure whatever,” Warren playfully rolls his eyes.
The conversation goes silent for a moment and when I look back at Warren, he has a more serious expression on his face. “I, uh, I think about that night a lot. I remember seeing you for the first time with your hair and makeup done, wearing that JCPenny dress that you hated but your mom forced you to wear… I remember thinking how beautiful you looked,” Warren says while he’s laying back in his seat, gazing through bloodshot eyes up at the roof of his car.
“Yeah that dress was the worst,” I say with a light laugh as I take a sip of his water. “I remember watching our moms hold you down and plucking your little unibrow before the dance. You screamed like a little girl and your forehead was red in all the pictures,” I laugh fondly at the memory. Warren scoffs, looking over at me.
“Woah that’s low. I compliment you and you bring up the most scarring moment of my life,” he snickers. “Uhm seriously though,Y/n. I’m, uh, really happy that you’re in my life,” his tone drops to a more serious one again.
‘What the hell is his deal?’ I think to myself in a moment of silence as ‘November rain’ continues to play in the background.
“God this song is long,” I sigh, furrowing my brows. I’ve completely forgotten what we were talking about, my mind clouded over with this extremely strong weed.
Judging by Warren’s huff and shuffle in his seat, I don’t think that he was pleased with my response. Then it clicks. The chocolates, the mixed CD, the heart to heart talk that he’s trying desperately to make work even though I’m stoned out of my mind, the fact that it’s Valentine’s Day.
“Are… are you flirting with me?” I ask, almost positive that that’s what’s happening, but still doubting myself. A large part of me is hoping that I’m right- larger than I’d like to admit.
“I’m fucking trying!” Warren laughs, his cheeks going red. I look at my best friend, seeing the handsome man that he’s growing into. A single moon beam shines from the sunroof, reflecting a sparkle in his ink pool eyes and illuminating his unkempt curls that frame his face. The car is filled with nothing but a long guitar solo as I get lost in my admiration for the boy.  I didn’t notice how uneasy my silence was making him. “But if this is weird for you-“  Warren looks away, awkwardly scratching the stubble on the side of his face.
“Then kiss me,” I say simply, interrupting him. Warren Looks at me as if his eyes are going to pop out of his skull.
“What?” He asks, shaking his head, obviously unsure if he heard me correctly.
“Kiss me,” I shrug, not elaborating anymore. Warren stares at me like a deer in headlights. I roll my eyes, then lean over the console. I place my hand behind his neck, pushing his lips against mine. It’s a small, sweet kiss but it still fills my stomach with butterflies. I pull away, leaving my face just inches from Warrens. He’s still just staring blankly but a small smile creeps onto his face.
“Spencer owes me so much money,” he laughs and then as If a switch flipped, he places his finger under my chin, then goes back in for another kiss. I’m shocked that he takes the lead this time, moving his mouth against mine in a heated exchange.
Warrens hands make their way down to my hips, holding me as if I could slip away at any second.
“Come here,” Warren demands against my lips, his voice laced with lust as he begins to lift me over the center console onto his lap. His tone makes my stomach flip, but I force myself to pull away.
“Warren, I’m extremely into this, but I don’t really want our first time to be in the parking lot of my family’s corner store,” I explain as I catch my breath, resting my hand on his thigh. The disappointment is evident on Warrens face, but he attempts to hide it.
“Yeah, no. I get it,” he laughs, running his hand through his hair. “I can die happy now honestly. I’ve been waiting to kiss you for seven years. I can wait another-” he begins to ramble- something he often does when he’s nervous.
“My parents aren’t home,” I interrupt with a mischievous grin. Warrens eyes widen.
“You mean-“ he asks as if he can’t believe what I just said.
“Yes, dumbass,” I nod my head, biting back a laugh. With that, Warren throws his car in reverse, whipping out of the parking lot as if the cops just pulled up. I attempt to scold him through my eruption of laughter as he jostles me around in the car.

Hufflepup Ch 2 - Intervention
Tumblr media
Harry had never experienced the slowing of time before. Perhaps he could blame the pensieve for shifts in temporal perception. All the heads in the room - two Head of House heads, a referee head, a Headmaster head and the family heads - swung towards Harry in slow motion, each soft clink of Dumbledore’s instruments akin to hammer striking anvil. And in that moment where time stretched slower than stale chewing gum, Harry realized two things: 1) His unvocalized desire to snog Ginevra Weasley until she forgot her loss, her house and her own name had made an unauthorized leap over the introvert fence in a bid for vocal actualization. 2) Vocal chords engaged in vocal actualization produced perceptible sound. “Shite.”

Fight Club Headcanons ✧.*
✩ The Narrator
ʚɞ Chews on his fingernails and picks at his skin constantly. They're nervous habits of his. He sometimes picks at Tyler's arm if he gets the urge.
ʚɞ Is a picky eater and that's why he's a little twig<3 He won't eat anything that smells or looks weird (unless forced).
ʚɞ Doesn't have the best hygiene. Like he tries, he really does, but I think he fails at it most of the time because he's so fatigued.
ʚɞ Likes stale potato chips.
ʚɞ He barely had a father figure in his life, so he's dependent on Tyler to satisfy the need of a "strong male figure."
ʚɞ Despises physical touch from people he doesn't know.
ʚɞ If there's a chance, he'll attempt to sleep anywhere. Like he'd curl up in a ball on a park bench if he wanted to.
✩ Tyler Durden
ʚɞ Has an oral fixation and that's why he can't stop smoking. He might eat candy if he runs out of cigarettes just to have something in his mouth at all times.
ʚɞ Has 10 packs of gum with him. Never shares.
ʚɞ Gaslights people on a daily basis and doesn't feel bad about it.
ʚɞ Overly judgmental but hates accepting criticism.
ʚɞ Secretly loves gentle physical touch like massages, playing with his hair, and fidgeting with someone's hands.
✩ Marla Singer
ʚɞ Gossips wherever and whenever she can.
ʚɞ I'd like to think she was a momma's girl who went off the beaten path.
ʚɞ Cannot actually be in love with someone. She likes the idea of having a companion, but love and marriage and starting a family is a huge no for her.
ʚɞ The type to buy scratch-offs and lotto tickets even though she loses every time.
ʚɞ Her childhood dream was to become a fashion designer or makeup stylist.
✩ Robert "Bob" Paulson
ʚɞ Is a huge sweetheart before and after joining Fight Club.
ʚɞ A great listener, but cries when you cry. He's very empathetic.
ʚɞ Discreetly purchases a binder for his chest because he's insecure :(
ʚɞ Keeps a notepad of dad jokes in his pocket to spread a little joy and positivity.
✩ Angel Face
ʚɞ Loves competing for attention. If he doesn't get it, he'll whine and whine until he does.
ʚɞ Annoying like 90% of the time, but for that other 10% he goes void because he's wondering about what he's doing with his life.
ʚɞ Serious anxious attachment issues. This baby will NOT leave a toxic, manipulative, and/or abusive person because even a drop of affection is all he craves.
ʚɞ Has some level of body dysmorphia.

Reverse trick-or-treat! I offer you this glass hen! My grandma had one on her dresser with loose change in it so we could grab the pennies to use in her gumball machine (yes the gum was the best but always so so stale)

BITE MY TONGUE - Joel Miller x AFAB! Reader
summary: everything is kind of a mess. And it hurts when he sneaks in each night to see you as merely a warm body to sleep with. Never next to.
a note from lucy: I got emotional on my birthday and wrote this drunk on pinot grigio. I don't recommend unless you want to read your writing back in the morning and debate therapy.
wc: 1240 warnings: 18+ MDNI! unedited, smut, angst toxic relationship, dom!Joel and sub!reader dynamics.

Joel was a silent lover. His footfalls were as ghostly as the kiss he pressed to the column of your throat at night. You spent every moment painting the walls of your mind palace with colours of him. The brown of his eyes, the greying highlights of his hair. The red of his temper. A vivid image of him to keep you company in the colder mornings. The empty mornings.
He moved with the precision of a killer. A smuggler. Not a lover. You were the lover. He was the fighter. It was oddly poetic how he would steal away into your bedroom like Eros did to Psyche. His face; a known incarnation to you while it sought you out. Muscle memory took its hold of him, a storm raging in his gut and you were the heat that needed to burn it off. The heat between your thighs that is.
The way he loved you was poison. So self-destructive. Yet so comforting. You never knew pain quite like it, even with what he did in the darkest of the night. The secret he kept between him and the rain riddled, smog smothered, dirty, darkened streets his mind, and the sheets of your shared bed. How his growl could quite literally wrench your heart from your chest and tear it to shreds, but piece it back together like it was a delicate piece of china.
His hips would thrust with fever, letting his words fall short, shy of your ears. Decay into nothing but stale air. You’d crumble and decompose to mulch before he confided in you. But he cared, right? He still made you fall with a yelp of his name like clockwork. A well oiled machine.
Because he was that. A product of conditioning. A man of stone, set shoulders sloped in their broad frame only when he stilled to release. Bones groaned and muscles laid a well trodden route into soil. The soil and earth of your body that shivered like branches under him. Limbs splayed out and twisted into sheets while a fire of guilt pitted in your stomach.  A gaping hole unfillable in his chest, a life of something messy. Something unsaid.
Dragged to the undertow, tangled in pondweed and drowned by stagnant water. Your lungs breathed him, absorbed him. What noise he gave you, nonsensical as it was, it was a relief there was something. Something you could do. Part your thighs.
It was; “Open your legs.” Never; “open your heart.”
The feeling of his fist colliding with skin shot hot thrills through his spine. The bruising peppered over his knuckles would have been a sign to reign it in but he just couldn’t. Not when the feeling of a man’s bone cracked under his own clenched, balled hand was screaming to be felt again. It was electrifying. Blood. Saliva. The mixture lacing gums and teeth that looked darker in these specific shadows.
Not all people crave physical contact in the same way. Some people seek it out in violence.
Lips, the texture of gravel, wind chapped, stayed parted to exhale puffs of air. But no word came. Just the steady build of pleasure, lights off to not see the grey of his lies. His silence. Seeping into the shadows…hiding from himself.
The way he fucked you, was like holding a knife to your throat. It grounded you in the most harrowing way to each of his breaths. His panting in your ear. That hot breath. Lost in the fog, lung hollow, now filled with him. His smell that snared your senses. Too late, not early enough. Burning wooden bridges passion encased with fire, like mere kindling. Surrounded. Trapped. But free. Missing him. Too late to come home. Anchoring him to you, in a silent pleading motion. A way to beg him not to leave. But it never stopped him shattering your heart into pieces when he did. Leave fragments on the floor like a destroyed glass.  A heart of glass. Where were you when he was still kind?
Long pauses between words. Going and going until one spoke. Never him. Always you. Saliva in your mouth, pooling while his thumb pressed your tongue down. It slipped past your lips, dribbled down his digits making a sticky mess. Moans of pleasure and fear of losing him to the young daylight again.
You started to close your curtains sooner in the hope he wouldn't notice light and leave you soon.
Hums, moans, on your own. Biting your tongue to the words as you slipped from lust to love and then back to lust, teetering to love. His lust. Your love. Torture to the mind, medicine to the body. Struck by lightning. Hanged to him as if he was a branch, connected by rope to neck on body. Separated, severed by mind. Showing him where he fit and hands tailed between your thighs, parting your legs to see the gleam of your cunt in the low light of your bedside lamp. Street Lights put out. But just him. Just you. His messy kisses. His hurried movements. Racing you at visceral pace to a peak of pleasure unknown to others, A vast wasteland of discovery, To all but you it was untold. Unhinged. So painfully unkind.
Begging, pleading to feel like you were loved, Making you fall apart in good ways and bad. Heaven and hell no longer just words. They had meaning now smothered to them like the scent of rich perfume. Or rotting earth and mulch after torrential downpour. Not seeing, feeling. Smelling. Not hearing. Waiting.
Wasting.
No thinking it over before he tangled with you in the dead of night. In the haven of the dirty mattress, bare naked and sweaty desperate bodies of animalistic innate passion. Lust. Not love. Never love. A need. A release. A waiting game. Lust not love. A feeling. A reverend in church to preach his belief with a sermon of hips clashing with hips and teeth clashing with teeth. Tongues mingling in heat. Yelps, groans. Shrill cries for him. Nails in Joel's back, his teeth in your neck. Daggers. Digging in silk flesh. Making the two of you almost bleed in every hyperbolic and metaphorical sense. Every vowel, consonant, syllable. It was left unsaid to the room. Rattled in your mind, caving in your chest.
‘Stare at me with the lights out.’ You told him when he refused to be seen. “To escape.” “Touch me to be loved.” you wished to add. Pleaded to tell. To whisper through the slam in skin on skin and rustle of sheets through frantic speed.
Joel never shed his skin. Always held it close. It was hardened, an armour. Scars told a story. A tapestry you felt under fingertips. Fingers that grasped onto him, legs that hitched to his waist, pulling his hips closer, at his hilt inside you. Silent are his heartstrings. Lonely is your hope. Icy is your body.
One day, you’ll be nothing but dust. Bronchioles in lungs will mimic roots. Navels will copy trunks. Organs will feed worms. Ribs will fossilise and lips that are kissed will mould back to Mother Nature. Its all you had ever been. Quick. Convenient. Easy to please, eager to help. Waiting lips, wanting cunt. Warm, never warm enough.
“You should tell me.” You would murmur once rolling to your side, not face him while your skin crawled like fire ants.
If we return our matter to the ground, if all that was to come…what is the point in trying?
And he would gruffly reply. “No.”
To do it all again in the twilight shadow of your heart.
