Couldnt resist drawing the starry-eyed... well Star from the original concepts!

I heard somewhere their name was Earendel, soooo Im going to roll with that and call them Earen for short :)

Backstory Idea

Earendel is a celestial being, born in the farthest parts of the galaxy. Even if they were surrounded by stars like them, they felt alone as they could not shine as bright as they did. However, they found solace by watching the humans live their lives.

They always had a fascination with humans, and grew evermore curious. This is where they learn about humans holding wishes in their hearts, and have the drive to make them come true without magic with their own faith and determination. They inspired them to take matters into their own hands. Then one day, even in the deepest, darkest parts of space, they heard an earnest wish sung to the stars awaiting for a reply.

A wish asking the heavens for something better than the reality created by the king and queen. More than willing to help, they raced down to earth to meet the girl who made this wish and help make it come true.

Motivation

They thought in the bigger picture, they were just a tiny speck in the sky with no significance. Their wish was to leave their mark and make a difference, so they too can shine bright. By the end of the movie, their new wish is to stay with their new friends and true love, Asha.

What were your thought processes behind designing Aster?

Although it may not seem like it, designing Aster was one of the most difficult redesigns I have done so far, I actually had an idea of what to do with him, but I knew I couldn't put many details since Aster is 2d and the characters are animated in this style have a simple design, I did several tests in fact

(Please ignore how disproportionate the body is, that's why I changed Aster's pose like 10 times lol)

And speaking of the poses, idk what happened to me was that I simply didn't like ANY of the poses I drew for Aster, to the point where it started to be stressful. I'll summarize my situation like this:

That is one of the reasons why it took me a little longer to design Aster, then thanks to taking a break and the support of @emillyverse and @annymation (thanks by the way :] ) I managed to resume the drawing and there is a pose that I liked for our star boy

Another thing that was complicated for me with Aster was his hair, because it was literally the flame of a candle, I made quite a few sketches so that Aster's hair looked as aesthetic as possible while I asked myself "How the hell did Disney and Pixar manage to make Hades and Ember look so good with fiery hair?????"

In the end all the effort was worth it, Aster's design is one of my favorites and with the best coloring done so far in digital :D

Starboy X Lucifer

Did you guys realize that our starboy - from Wish - who was taken out of the film, ended up becoming Lucifer?

I mean, they are both magical beings with powers of transformation (Both bodily and materializing objects), they are carefree and happy (Lucifer was supposed to be before he was banished from Heaven and Starboy had these characteristics in the concepts...) Anyway, Lucifer from Hazbin Hotel managed to give me a little comfort about Starboy not existing in the film.

I know it's April's Fools, a day for telling lies and pulling pranks, but I decided to do a different thing and debunk a popular Disney misconception.

Starboy wasn't Asha's love interest. There wasn't a love interest.

Starboy was supposed to take shape after Asha's deceased grandfather. He was supposed to be Sabino.

And you know what?

I just realized that even in the finished product, Sabino is still dressed like Starboy.

Pay close attention to the bright yellow shade of his clothes. Pay attention to the star pattern on the right side of his tunic. Pay attention to his cape. Pay attention to the star emblem on his right shoulder.

Starboy IS Sabino, but younger.

Asha & Starboy

Since it’s February and Valentine Day is coming, I give you: The Cutest Couple that Never Was!

I know I said in a previous post that Wish (2023) disappointed me, BUT-

The concept had so much potential; the King and Queen being both evil, Asha having powers from the start and of course, STARBOY! I just love that concept of a playful magical being that could also potentially be a cute love interest to Asha, but they can’t be together because he must go back to the sky at the end or something (literal star-crossed lovers). So since Disney didn’t deliver, I did it myself.

Details below:

I sculpted their faces with Fimo and for the bodies, I used a snapstar doll body for Asha and a cheap modified BJD doll for Starboy (he was too tall, so I had to saw the legs shorter and give him monster high hands), I also slightly modified Asha’s design and dress (I wanted it more flowy), and while I did took inspiration from the concept arts for Starboy, I decided to design my own outfit for him, something that resemble more a shiny jester outfit, given he was supposed to be a joyous character (we were robbed, seriously).

fun fact: those wish balls are actually painted bouncing balls.
