Thanks to my friend Camille for turning me onto so much great music that I would never have found on my own. A couple of months ago she told me about The Four Seasons alter ego LP The Genuine Imitation Life Gazette. Then last month she told me about the Mother Soundtrack. A couple of days ago, she told me to listen to Silver Apples.
I'm not going to lie and say I've enjoyed every song, but each of the above releases is so different and interesting from my normal fare. And the most different of them all is Silver Apples (New York). I listened to the S/T debut (see link above) from which "Whirly Bird" comes.
The full LP came out in 1968 and influenced the likes of Suicide and Spacemen 3. I can't imagine Brian Eno or Devo weren't listening to this.
This 7" was originally released by Kapp Records and was reissued in 2016 by Play Loud!

One of the many things I found to be disappointing about HH and HB was that they both had lame soundtracks, for being created by a theater kid, I was hoping for something wonderful, but I’ve heard better from the average McDonalds commercial 🤦🏻♂️
