If I may; where does your "cinder is a branwen" theory come from? What lead you to that potential conclusion?
okay, so, some context: this is during the hiatus between V5 and V6. it's middle of the night, and i'm neck deep thinking about raven's "family. only coming around when they need something." because while that fits yang, it hardly fits qrow; that was raven seeking him out, not the other way around.
the sensible part of me was having a wonderful time connecting this to summer—i.e. summer found raven because she needed help with her mission—however, the gremlin in me that revels in chaos went welllll... cinder & co showed up days later, needing something from raven.
now. this is also during the time when i'm already thinking it's a bit suspicious that words such as "dead" and "killed" were avoided when talking about summer (directly or in-directly), so to nib this chaotic thought before it had a chance to bloom, i had to check if the word "need" comes up at any point during raven's talks with qrow, yang, and cinder & co.
unfortunately for me, it does. qrow says it: "i don't know where the spring maiden is, either, but if you do, i need you to tell me." yang says it, too: "i just need you to take me to her." and finally, cinder says it not just once, but twice: "and now, all we need is the key to the vault." // "we just... need... the relic.", while watts doesn't.
so with that little thing established, the gremlin was free to roam as it pleased, creating a perspective that made certain other things look a little bit different, such as:
the parallels between cinder and yang that were at their peak during V4 and V5, including their interactions with raven
raven knowing 'fall' isn't cinder's original last name but one she chose (something something last name denotes family connection and cinder chose hers, essentially hiding hers), as well as describing emerald and mercury as "two children you've tricked into following you", implying that she has been keeping an eye on cinder even before beacon.
the feathers in cinder's brooch are described as "iridescent feathers (dark green & black)" in her concept art, pretty much what you'd expect from feathers of corvids (especially ravens and crows)
this brooch also sticks around for all of cinder's main outfits, perhaps implying it's important in some way (e.g. ruby's brooch was more than just an emblem, it belonged to summer)
raven's portals and cinder's explosions (that she creates with her semblance) look extremely similar—if not exactly same—outside the change of color; and being real here if summer's semblance also emits rose petals like ruby's does but white, i might just lose it here lmao
this is more funny to me but like. you can't go "you sound just like your mother" and then have both raven and cinder say similar things, e.g. some variation of "it's nothing personal", or even just raven being smug and referring to qrow as "little brother" only for cinder to come in moments later, smugly referring to qrow as "little bird". what is a poor soul supposed to think at that moment when i'm already preoccupied with "they never said summer is dead -> summer is alive" 😭
cinder's backstory revealing that she started from an orphanage obviously didn't help this matter, either
anyway, having said all that, i honestly don't expect this to lead into... well. anything. like if it did i would be surprised myself and i would never theorize about anything ever again, it would just be downhill from there lmao
ngl tho, it's great fuel for AUs.

“ah, the honorary son of our family is here!”
martin didn’t waste his chance as soon as emilie opened the door, only to reveal a particular monegasque racing driver standing before his youngest sister.
charles, being sweet as ever, hugged the giggling girl—it’d become odegaard family’s joke that emilie had been secretly harbouring a crush on the handsome lad—before giving her a small box of signature chocolate from whatever country charles had just arrived from due to the nature of his job. the playful jab martin threw at charles was ringing truer than ever before as the mother of the household walked out of the kitchen, leaving whatever dish she was making to engulf him in a bear hug, whispering silent grace to god that charles had survived another deadly week of racing without a scathe.
which she’d never done to any of her other children, by the way. not even when martin was bleeding from the scraps he’d gotten due to the gruesome nature of football, week in and out. in her defence, martin hadn’t been anywhere near death—not even life-threatening injury—whereas charles grazed the door of hell every time he was working, should his reflex fail him for a mere second difference on that asphalt.
you might be wondering how charles, a monegasque royalty at this point, was subtly adopted by the odegaards, a norwegian footballer family. it was a wonder that never ceased, too, to be honest.
except for you, who’d been the one who opened the gate to this crazy crossover.
you’d shot to stardom because of your social media activities, back when martin was still a madrid player. long story short, your follower count was what sealed your ticket to the catalunya grand prix as a guest for a famous spanish fashion brand, which resulted you being ushered to the ferrari paddock for the brand’s main ambassador, carlos sainz, who introduced you to his teammate, namely charles leclerc.
did it answer your question as to why charles could be found ever so often around the odegaard’s residence? probably not, and the odegaards felt the same way, too, in all honesty. one day, you brought him home for dinner and the boys had been so excited to have another boy at their close proximity to play football with that they even skipped the whole interrogation thing.
thus, them thinking charles was your best friend.
when in fact, he had been anything but.
it was actually within your purest intention to introduce charles as your boyfriend that night. partly because for the first time, you’d managed to snatch a fine specimen of a gentleman as your boyfriend instead of adding another male to your pile of boy/friend. but mostly because you and charles had every intention to be serious about your relationship—like marriage serious.
you had actually prepared both charles and yourself for a long investigating query from your brothers—in their name of being protective and all, and despite your exterior of despising them for that, you couldn’t help but love them all the same. but it seemed like those two older siblings of yours just thought charles was another boy/friend you met due to the nature of your job, or probably due to your extrovert trait.
did you ever bother to correct them?
lots of times, you wanted to break the label kristoff and martin was giving charles. but it was your boyfriend who held you back, grasping your hand in his in a gentle pressure under the table. when asked afterwards, he’d always answer with, “in due time, we will. for now, I’m focused on gaining their favours.”
so you stayed put. after all, you had been a firm believer that only a man knows other men best.
but it seemed like it’d change after tonight.
“you really should look for a boyfriend,” martin slipped in the thoughts he’d already put on her instagram’s comment section in the midst of the table going around her newest campaign. “you’re glowing when you have a partner.”
you couldn’t help but scoff. “what do you know from a picture?”
“we’re saying that you look so good in your last campaign, probably because you found a perfect partner for the shoot. now imagine if you have a real boyfriend…” kristoff added and you rolled your eyes at your oldest brother. the guy in the picture was actually the one sitting beside you, your boyfriend of almost a year now, so of course you glowed like you’re in a relationship.
“do you need my help to set you up with someone?”
kristoff’s eyes widened at martin’s so-called brilliant idea. “you’re a genius! or maybe charles can—”
“nope, no one’s good enough for her.”
charles’ statement left the entire table speechless, including yourself. you’d never heard charles spoken up so fast, with a tone so angry and facial expression so full of distaste, despite his blue eyes focused on the dish he was playing with.
“well, there’s kieran who just broke up—”
“can’t you just let your sister choose her own partner?” charles looked up and chose to shoot lasers to the head of the table, even it scared you a bit.
this side of charles was new, for he would always be seen exasperated when it involved things around racing, but it was probably because the topic was new. your idiotic brothers had never—ever—had a problem with your romantic life. tonight was the first time the duo ever sold the idea of matchmaking you since puberty waves hit the family.
charles let out a sigh so deep, you knew he regretted his outburst. “she’s all grown up, for god’s sake.”

chapter 145 thoughts!
what even was this chapter, y'all. i'm getting a migraine.
While it certainly wasn't actively bad, it basically hits on enough of the issues I've been having with the Movie Arc that if you've been reading my chapter reviews lately, you could probably write this one yourself. Weird pacing, skipping over interesting parts of the movie, continued framing of AQRB as a shallow gag and failing to follow on any of the implied development from or literally any referenced fallout of the kiss in 143? It's all here, babes. It would ultimately just be boring and redundant for me to go over all that at length again, so I won't.
I will however say that I'm pretty disappointed we're blasting through what had the potential to be some really interesting bits of postmortem characterization for Ai, even filtered through 15YL. I don't mind the manga breezing past scenes we saw firsthand but like… how did Ai react when she realized she was pregnant? How did she feel, especially given that Spica once again emphasized her longing for a family of her own? IDK. The way the story is suddenly jolting forwards in these last few chapters and skipping such huge chunks of Ai's life ultimately feels very strange and I don't know what to make of it yet.
Everyone reacting to Crow Girl's acting was pretty funny though I'm kind of exhausted with Ruby's Gaga-For-Oniichansensei Gag Character flanderization. IDK if my tolerance for it is just decreasing or if it really is amping up, but at least in the 125-137 stretch I at least got the sense that they could be in the same room and have a normal conversation but ever since 139, it feels that bit more relentless. I imagine this would be less irritating if we knew how the aftermath of 143 had played out but it really seems like the manga is going to drag this out until we're all old and grey.
THAT SAID, this chapter does confirm that Aqua's hoshigan stayed white after that chapter and… eh. Who even knows what that means lol. It does at least imply that his talk with Ruby has brought him back to Baseline Aqua but Baseline Aqua is still a guy with every single mental illness on planet earth so I don't know if that's the world's biggest W quite yet. It certainly implies an improvement over double black hoshigan but… again, with Aqua being so totally cut off from the readers this whole arc and no idea of what happened in the aftermath of 143, it's impossible to make a meaningful guess as to wtf is going on with Aqua right now.
Oh yeah, uh. This chapter also I guess constitutes the reveal of how the AQRB reincarnation happened. I guess LMAO. Honestly, I don't have much to say about it other than it feels like a bit of an anticlimax for me? The idea works fine, the execution just left me… idk. Whelmed at best, underwhelmed at most. I feel like this backstory and the implied deep fondness for GRSR -> AQRB it implies doesn't really like up with the personality she displays in the Private arc but like, I kind of feel like she was tossed into the story without Akasaka having a clear idea as to what her role was even going to turn into so maybe that's not a surprise LOL
I will say I'm glad this seems to quash the theory that Aqua and Ruby were secretly capital-G Gods, instead framing it as a Tsuru no Ongaeshi type return of kindness to two otherwise mundane people. There was some fun fan theorizing around the idea, but for me personally, Oshi no Ko is most interesting when it focuses on that aspect of the story Akasaka highlighted in an interview recently, of human relationships being warped by the entertainment industry and I think an explosion of the emotional stakes to the cosmic scale of AQRB (or tbh any of the characters) being Secretly Gods All Along would be a bit of a shark jump for me and would really shift away from what I like about the series most.
That's kind of it for this one…! Not really a lot to say about this chapter, which is why most of this review was me explaining why I didn't have a lot to say about it.

My God sleepy this is gonna be outta nowhere but I've been seeing people discuss whether Ghost is secretly married or has relations and what not and I've been like where is this coming from hello???
And now I'm low-key scared that what if they reveal this to be true in the next game or something but at the same time like I'm confused, it doesn't make any sense 😭
Take that as you will, I'd actually love to hear your thoughts on this if you'd want but if not then it's fine! I just like, need some reassurance that this isn't true otherwise it would kinda ruin ny whole OC x Ghost shtick and crush my dreams really 🥲💔
OKay first of all, Hi!
Well, I don't really get into much of fandom discussions, but exactly like you said, it's just a fandom discussion (・∀・) It probably stems from a fan who created an AU where Ghost's secretly married and have a family, but things started to get loose!
I don't think CoD is gonna reveal anything about marriage or relationships tbh. All that's canon is Laswell's wife and that's it as she's not a playable operator. Other than that, from a corporate stand point, making a beloved character like Ghost's relationship canon would greatly, GREATLY divide a fandom.
On the other hand, having a secret family is a such a popular fanfic trope, which might be the source of this discussion. Plus if you think about it, there's like .00001 % of canon Ghost having a relationship because of the nature of his job, his identity concealment, plus a ton of personal issues he has. Realistically speaking, he's NOT an ideal person to have a relationship with + I don't think he seeks relationship at all. He canonically enjoys solitude and most likely would stay that way until he dies in battlefield.
Now, that's where your imagination comes to play! Play with his character with your OC! I personally just wanna give Ghost a hug and make him sleep well so I created Jade (≧▽≦)
No worries, dear anon. Stay happy and ship your Ghost x OC away.

I think everyone agrees that the most telling scene for Teruhashi and Saiki's relationship is the karaoke mixer scene (with Imu and Chiyo and the guys from the fancy school).
However, I also think it's the most misinterpreted part of the series. I haven't seen a single analysis of it that I agree with tbh, so I figured I'd write my own:
However, as Saiki points out, her understanding of him is completely wrong. She doesn't think he would have a good time or could make things more fun, when in reality, HE'S the one coming up with all the jokes the guys say, and their kind gestures like adjusting the temperature of the room for her. And to top it off, he was even doing actual karaoke during the mixer and killing it, based on his 100% score. Saiki was secretly being the whole life of the party, something that Teruhashi can't even imagine at this point.
Teruhashi appreciates that Saiki doesn't actively chase her, that he treats her like everybody else, that he isn't waiting for her to slip on her perfect pretty projection. However, while Teruhashi wishes Saiki was there with her at the mixer, she also thinks that he would just be there glooming it up with a dull expression in the corner. That seems to show that she finds Saiki's presence comforting but doesn't really think he can contribute otherwise to this kind of social situation. And based on what she's seen of him, it's a reasonable expectation tbh!
And that's because whenever we see Saiki at parties with his friends, he ISN'T charming and funny then. Saiki even feels bad about being so boring and unexpressive, sending in his father as a substitute for one birthday party. But that's because he's actively masking his powers and by extension, his real personality, to almost everyone.
We've only ever seen him at parties with people who DON'T know the truth about him. So we can't know exactly what he'd do at a proper party post power-reveal. But we CAN see the difference in interactions that he has with people who don't know about his powers and people who do.
People who know about Saiki's powers and who he acts genuinely around: his family, the Psychickers, and little Yuuta.
The biggest immediate difference between how he behaves with them vs with everyone else is that Saiki is a huge backtalker lmao. He has a smartass remark for everything but only says it "out loud" if he's comfortable. He disrespects his dad on the daily, roasts Toritsuka half to death, and repeats [no] at Yuuta every time he begs.
In fact, Teruhashi has never seen Saiki be genuine around her, which is why she has to dig desperately for something positive to say to Saiki's grandfather when she meets him. All she can say is that he seems studious (the man gets strictly average grades so this is kind of sad actually lmao) and that he has a lot of friends for some reason hsfjdlshfks.
Saiki is also a bit of a show-off / kind of prideful. We see it when he's a kid in the Time Leap episodes, we see him fly up to get Yuuta that balloon instead of using telekinesis, and we see him refusing to lose any games to his friends despite low or no stakes (and being a very sore loser when Akechi beats him).
My personal favorite example of him being his hilarious self is when he and Aiura are trying to keep Chiyo alive despite her death mark, and Aiura thinks to herself something like "well, there's no way he can hear my thoughts at THIS distance or he'd be some kind of god" and Saiki IMMEDIATELY replies [what's up, God speaking] like WHAT. THE LEVEL OF SASS. He's just naturally that fucking funny and repressing it all the time. And most of his friends have no clue that this guy is actually a hilarious mfer!
However, we as the audience actually *do* see Saiki be his genuine self around Teruhashi: that one episode where she's trying to find him but he turns invisible so her simps can't catch him. Instead of being a quiet, emotionless presence, he steals her milkshake and makes fun of how she can't see him and is generally silly. Maybe one day they'll truly know each other well enough to where Saiki feels comfortable being silly like that where she can see it, but due to all their circumstances (powers/crush/simps), he has to try to be as boring and off-putting as he can be instead.
Which all leads me to say that the end of the mixer scene is actually really bittersweet imo. It's Saiki realizing how much fun he *could* be having with his friends if he was able to be open and honest about himself around them, and if he didn't have to worry about inadvertantly encouraging an unwanted crush. That is the life he's always wanted to have, a normal one where he can just relax and be himself and hang out with his friends without risking cataclysmic consequences at every turn.
And at the same time it reinforces that most of the people he genuinely cares about and considers his friends don't really know him well at all. While they all clearly enjoy his presence and care about him, they don't know that he's sarcastic, selfless, incredibly clever, tsundere af, generally anxious, and kind of nosy.
Does that make all of Saiki's friendships fake? I don't think so. Everyone presents different parts of themselves to different people, this is a normal. We live in a society, etc. The same behavior and conversation isn't appropriate for someone who's a coworker vs a lover, half your age vs twice your age, etc.
But it sure hurts to know that a friendship was built under false premises and could crumble if the truth is revealed. And that's why Saiki even considers never stopping the volcano so he can stay in the same status quo with his friends, because he's certain that once they leave high school, they will all forget about that quiet, stone-faced guy in the background of their memories. He's sure that even if everyone finds out about his powers, after he's been made powerless, giving him the opportunity to be himself for the first time ever, that they won't like the "new" him.
That mixer was Saiki being his whole self with his friends, just through a different face, and while he had fun, it was with the full knowledge that this is essentially as close to being genuine with his friends as he can possibly get, for a limited time only. Because the volcano and their senior year are both looming large on the horizon.

Help my raid team believes with all their heart that nezarec was a guardian at some point in the lore. For my sanity I need you to explain this to me
I don't know where they got that from tbh. Genuinely interested to know what are their arguments.
Nezarec played his part and died before Guardians existed and remained inactive until the raid. Outside of influencing people through the sheer Darkness and power that come from his body, he has not been really alive until now. The raid cutscene says that he was accidentally "revived" by the Traveler's terraform beam since his body was in the Pyramid hit by the beam. He didn't become a Guardian though nor was he one before.
We have confirmation that he is a really old alien creature by the virtue of him being initiated into disciplehood by Rhulk, probably long before anyone on Earth existed. We also got it confirmed that he heavily influenced the Psions which is also something that happened ages ago before any Guardian existed.
This raid also confirmed that he was killed by Savathun during the Collapse and his Pyramid crashed on the Moon. Guardians did not exist then. Pretty much his first interaction with anything Guardian related is this raid. An interesting thing that was also said in the raid is that Nezarec has no clue what was happening to his body parts, not directly in any way. His lines from the raid:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Really intriguing since he was obviously able to influence people with relics and his merchandise in general, as well as had people who swore on being his followers for generations, but he does not appear to have any recollection of this. He asks us if anyone suffered from his pieces and wonders if we could tell him who took them.
He does have knowledge of us and of our past, but speaks of us as not a group he belongs to:
Tumblr media
Here he has a whole thing about praising for us being efficient at killing and asking us if we enjoy the final screams of our enemies and so on.
He basically died before Guardians were created and he stayed dead since, with people picking on his body parts. The Hunter chest piece from the raid set also shows that:
Tumblr media
So he wasn't secretly rezed as a Guardian after dying or something. Also, I've only seen him in the post-raid cutscene so far, but if that thing has ever been a Guardian, we would've known. He's literally an alien from before Guardians existed. His remaining body parts have apparently been collected by the Witness and placed in a tomb which is in the raid:
Tumblr media
He definitely influenced people, possibly even humans. There's a few other unknowns as well, but nothing to imply that he was ever a Guardian. He influenced a Guardian, which can be seen in the Titan raid set. Maybe they confused it with him? The people named in the raid gear are his acolytes, spreading his cult or whatever it would be called.
There's an unknown person in the new lore that apparently has the "scent" and "vibe" as Nezarec and that goes around recruiting acolytes and apparently looks like a normal human. Possibly someone passing down the knowledge about him. This person claims to have had the knowledge of Nezarec run in his family and carries an old tome with information about him, probably the Of Hated Nezarec text because it's quoted in the raid sparrow. It also does not appear that acolytes become acolytes entirely willingly. Description of the tome and how it's about "an ancient being":
Tumblr media
Unless I'm seriously misreading something or there's a huge reveal in the raid boss fight where he tells us he's been a Guardian and shows his Ghost, I don't think that makes any sense. Purely timeline wise. He obviously wasn't a human on the account of literally being an alien and predating humanity. And he's been dead (also uses the word "trapped") ever since Savathun put him in timeout.

I can’t tell whether this is me having an autism moment or whether this is the kind of thing that crops up 6 months out of a film’s release, and I’m not trying to be an asshole but hand wringing about what if btsv reveals Dana is Gabriella’s biological mother is just. Not a concern I understand tbh.
Like for one, atsv shows less than nothing about her other biological parent. We know Jack shit about whoever contributed 50% of her DNA to the point where there’s just as much evidence for like. Alt Miguel spawning this child asexually like a starfish or this baby arriving in a little white blanket via stork.
There’s no family photos in the bg, no other parent was in Gabriella’s life when her father died otherwise we would’ve been shown them etc. we have more evidence for alt Miguel being a trans man that got a sperm donation than we do a partner being involved in the creation of this kid lmao
also blah blah blah it’s a good writing decision that there’s no partner shown there because otherwise it invites a dimension of moral complication to the story (ie. the violation of trust and consent that is secretly replacing someone’s partner) that atsv just isn’t trying to court, because the entire point of Gabriella as a writing device is to be an additionally sympathetic dimension to Miguel’s motivations and guilt.
Secondly, PAD is the main guy continually referencing Dana as Miguel’s fiancé (whether past or current) and unless he somehow sneaks his way into the writer’s room, I genuinely don’t understand any kind of concern that we’re somehow going to get an other parent reveal for Gabriella when the opportunity for that came and went already, and the film writers have been very open abt the fact they’re taking liberties w this iteration of the character (Asking for Oscar Issac’s opinion on the writing as a Latino man etc) and thus Miguel’s characterisation isn’t supposed to be a one to one adaptation of any singular comic run.
#like if this is just people venting what if scenarios for like#idk playing w what if scenarios ig then aight I guess. but in terms of people who feel like this is a Genuine Concern I dontttttttt#personally understand where that opinion comes from#like yeah sure bad writing always possible but what reason do we have in the story being told to revisit this plot point and ask did#alt Miguel have a partner? when the opportunity to include that info if it was relevant has already come and gone#like yeah the real answer to all of this honestly seems to be a kind of shadowboxing over ships but like. guys.#I don’t understand getting genuinely worked up abt this#also blah blah blah ‘why is Gabriella’s consent not something the story speaks on?’ great question! two parts to the answer!#one is that it’s a writing shorthand where the Point is to make you feel sympathy for Miguel#and thus Gabriella functions as an extent and motivation for his guilt and we just don’t got the time tbh to really dig into this outside o#a transformative space#and secondly within society children are thought of a functionally part of a Family Unit and not autonomous beings and that’s part of the#belief underpinning the very shorthand#she functions as part of the concept of a Family as opposed to an autonomous being who’s also a kid#and thus what she represents in the writing both as a child and a girl is the loss of and desire for family in Miguel#tunes talks critical#long post#tunes talks spiderverse

Trope Game
tagged by @sambambucky ! This looks really fun thanks!
Rules: How much do these tropes affect your decision to click on a fic?
• -10 -> very dissuaded
• 0 - don't care either way
• 10 -> very enticed
• hope -> if it's a hard no and you'd never click on a fic with that tag or or you even have the tag blocked or vou'd insta click out of the fic if it wasn't tagged.
Bonus points for explaining the rating and whether it's conditional
Age Gap: 3
I sometimes enjoy the taboo nature of this but it has to be like 22 and 35, or something in that range. I’m not looking for like 17 and 40 😬
Codependency: 0
I don’t have any strong feelings on this one, and it really depends on the ship
Enemies to lovers: 7
This one definitely stems from my childhood lol. If two characters were beefing I’d be like ‘but maybe kiss??’ I mean, good obsession and bad obsession is still an obsession either way, and I love people fighting their feelings for each other.
Enemies With Benefits: 6
Same feelings as the last one but I prefer the slow burn and denial.
Fake Dating/Relationship: 6
There’s a lot good here, lots of pining and misunderstandings. It’s not in my top favorite tropes but I do really like it
Found Family: 9
Oooooh I eat this shit up!!! I love groups of friends loving each other like family! Give it to me! I want Friendsgivings and showing up for birthdays and being each others’ emergency contacts. Yes yes yes to everything involved in this trope
Friends To Lovers: 6
I’m pretty in to this one, because I think any good relationship is a friendship first. And I like with enemies to lovers I really enjoy the confusion and feelings denial
Friends With Benefits: 8
I fuck with this big time. I’m such a sucker for both parties acting like it’s just sex and secretly being in love. The mutual pining here is *chefs kiss*
Hurt/Comfort: 10
If you read my writing you KNOW this is my bread and butter. I want the characters I love to suffer pls. I just wanna seem em cry tbh
Love Triangle: 8
I don’t write this one but I do love to read it. This goes hand in hand with hurt/comfort and also I’m a big fan of jealousy.
Mistaken/Hidden Identity: 0
This one’s okay, but tbh I haven’t read a ton of it.
Monster Fu... Relationship: -1
I’m so sorry, no shame, but it’s just not for me.
Obsession, Possessiveness, etc: 9
God yes, c’mon give it to me. I love characters being unhealthily devoted to each other.
Opposites (like grumpyxsunshine, etc): 8
This one I looooove with sooo many ships. Sambucky, ineffable husbands, clintasha, brittana, etc, it just scratches this brain itch I have.
Poly: 0
Meh, samstevebucky and royjamiekeeley are the only ships that I really like for poly stuff.
Pregnancy: 10+++++++
do I even need to explain??? This is my favorite trope, above all others, eternally. Give me the babies, give me the cravings, give me those baby bumps, give me all the new parent feels.
This is my life blood.
Second Chance: 4
Not in my top faves but I do love the history and characters who are burned and slow to trust.
Sex To Feelings: 2
It doesn’t do much for me unless it’s also a slow burn and full of feelings denial.
Slowburn: 6
I love it even tho sometimes I’m like ‘just kiss already!’ This trope makes me legitimately giddy ❤️
Soulmates: -5
Reveal here: I never read soulmates/soulmark stuff 😬
For me, characters knowing they are meant to be together takes out all the suspense and will they won’t they. It is very rare for me to enjoy a soulmates fic.

The Afterparty: Sebastian
Tumblr media
This week’s episode was a lot of fun and my favorite so far of the season. A lot of ground was covered and new theories have emerged so this will be another long post. Starting off with the “Not ___” clue (shoutout to the subreddit for getting it so quickly omg). SPOILERS AHEAD
“Not By Camels Milk”
I don’t know what to make of this clue because when I looked up kumis/koumis, the results said that it’s milk from a donkey and not camel’s milk as stated by Ulysses in the first episode. I doubt the writers would make a mistake while researching it so it’s hard to say what this means. Are they trying to insinuate that Ulysses is a fraud? Isabel made an offhand comment about him always boasting about his travels. But let’s say that it is koumis: Edgar refused to drink it at the rehearsal dinner and after Aniq spit it out I assumed that there wouldn’t be much if any left. Maybe later on in the evening Edgar and Ulysses come to some sort of agreement that was sealed with Edgar taking a sip of the koumis. Ulysses is kind of going higher up on my list now because this is starting to get suspicious.
Confirmed Theories
As always Reddit was on it because four long-standing theories were confirmed:
•The wedding staff were in on the heist
•Sebastian kidnapped Roxana to open the safe
•Sebastian was the naked man
•SEC4 meant Edgar, Sebastian, Connect 4 and was a record of their scores
A lot of people suspected Sebastian was secretly Australian instead of British so the reveal he’s actually American is so funny to me 😂 And omg at Yasper’s brief appearance! That was a perfect little tie in to last season. Also I knew Travis wasn’t lying about being knocked out! It just didn’t seem like something he’d lie about. After watching the episode twice these are my thoughts:
Theory 1
I 100% think that Edgar calling everyone devils in that rant was because he knew their secrets and now I see that he himself is a devil as well it will be interesting to see how this will all tie in at the end. When Isabel told Sebastian to tell Edgar she remembered everything it gave me a feeling that Edgar might have actually been the one to poison his father. And as I write this I’m starting to wonder if maybe Edgar tried to poison someone that evening and then accidentally poisoned himself instead. If he’s killed someone before he probably got too cocky this time and accidentally offed himself instead. There’s a theory that Edgar has been drugging Isabel and tbh I’m starting to believe it because if he did kill his father, that would be a good way of keeping his mother in line and preventing her from telling the truth. He and Hannah were really close up to a point so I can’t help but wonder if they did it together since it’s Hannah’s garden that has all the poisonous plants. It’s just a vibe I’m getting but we’ll see.
Theory 2
Speaking of Hannah, I still think Grace killed Edgar and Hannah is covering for her. Like I’ve said before Grace is putting on this damsel in distress act and I wouldn’t be surprised if she were manipulating Hannah because she knows she’s in love with her. If neither are the murderer I think they planned to run away together after the wedding night with Edgar’s money since there was no prenup signed.
My current three suspects:
Grace because of all the lying and her playing Zoë like a fiddle the whole time ; Whether or not she’s also taking advantage of Hannah is unknown
Ulysses because I’m starting to think he’s a liar and after Edgar’s encounter with Vivian, she may have told him. That’s a pretty big motive because of how big a family secret it is (unconfirmed theory that he’s the father of Zoë and/or Grace)
Edgar as an accidental death caused by himself since he’s been shown to have that dark side and he already got bested by Sebastian with the card so he’s clearly not as intelligent as he thinks he is

Okay, do you mind if I share my au with you? I had this au in mind for the past forever now, in it the radiance Learns about the vessel plan immediately and decides to secretly talk and influence the vessel and she’s been doing this since they left the baby pit. Her original plan was to either possess or convince the vessel to betray their father and stab him in the back however pure vessel would always refuse to be aggressive. She acts as a voice in their head/dreams and feels kinda like a imaginary friend and mother figure for PV and the two get really close due to it. The shit hits the fan when PV has their final molt unfortunately because since gods are weird and kinda abstract spending too much time with other gods in early developmental periods can influence them physically. So when they finally molt they end up getting wings but instead of wyrm wings like everybody expected they end up with huge moth/like wings due to radiances unintentional influence on PV. That’s all I came up with tbh and I’m still playing with how everyone would react. What do you think? How would your PK and WL react to this?
I absolutely loveeeeee your art x sorry about the long ask
ohHOHOHO, THAT'S FUN
I think it completely depends on how you characterise both PK and WL in this AU, but I think it's safe to say that since they had no idea PV was alive and the whole god appearance thing was known, Pale King would immediately suspect the worst. Perhaps even panic and consider killing Pure Vessel, but it'd be probably a very hard choice for him to make because on one hand his nemesis has influenced his Pure Vessel but on the other they're Hallownest's last and only hope - without them, they're all doomed.
If PV's sentience is revealed at the same time or soon after their last moult, then I think it'd completely depend on how you characterise them, so I'd have to know more about PK and WL in this AU if ya want any suggestions from me
If you wanna go the more lighthearted/comedic route, I think PK and Radi finally working shit out and sharing custody over PV would be hilarious. Plus, could be some fun political and family drama.

just curious, no need to answer: in RWBY, do you have any feelings on "weiss is secretly faunus?" it's super not canon obviously but it does add an extra dimension between her and blake
Hm.
I don't think it's a genuinely /canon/ theory, I'm not aware of any hints but by now I think that they would've revealed that and also like that raises questions about all of her family.
But it could be an interesting plotline in an AU for Weiss to be hiding Faunus traits given the *gestures at everything*. (tbh we low-key did this in the ml au haha..)

I find it annoying how many people characterize Anne as dumb, even after she stalled the Core by pointing out something it missed and ended up becoming a scientist at the show’s end. I see many attributing the first thing to plot armor, even though people wouldn’t complain if Sasha said the same thing, and ignore the chronic C student entering a STEM field. Just because she’s not a genius doesn’t mean she isn’t smart.
I haven’t seen anyone characterize anne as dumb, but then again, my experience of fan response has been extremely insular (im basically just talking to myself tbh). I think because anne makes a lot of mistakes in season one and two, it’s easy to take that and assume she’s dumb, but really it’s more so that a) she’s in a completely unfamiliar environment and b) she’s not so much clueless as she is lazy and spoiled. she has the capacity to think critically and work hard, but it’s easier for her to take shortcuts, so until she learns otherwise, that’s what she does. it’s why she hates school and work, why she always goes along with what sasha and marcy say, and hates the expectations her mom places on her: because she doesn’t like being challenged. anne becoming a scientist signifies her growth both in the respect of her learning to appreciate her family and heritage (both in the sense that she achieves success in a field that her mom would undoubtedly approve of, and in the sense that the plantars are her family) but also in the way that she doesn’t take the easy way out, but instead clearly works hard to learn and honor the people who taught and gave her so much.
I think another reason why it may be easy to characterize anne as “dumb” is because she doesn’t have the intellectual skills marcy does or the survival skills sasha does. marcy secretly sees anne and sasha as dumb jocks (the core all but reveals this), and it’s not because they’re not smart, but because marcy is just so academically gifted. there’s a world of difference between anne being clever and intelligent and marcy who overshadows even highly intelligent adults when it comes to their mental acuity. marcy gets perfect grades without even trying, and I suspect that this will continue to be the case for her until college (maybe even grad school, depending on where she goes). and marcy never tries to hide this fact either, so for anne i understand how it could feel like marcy is rubbing her intelligence in anne’s face. as marcy points out, though, anne has a lot of skills marcy doesn’t, both physical and emotional, and marcy relied on anne and sasha to take care of her for their entire childhoods to the point that marcy literally cannot imagine being without them. anne loves her friends and misses them when they’re apart, but she also knows how to connect with people wherever she goes and doesn’t feel dependent on any one person, as much as she loves her friends and family.
she can also seem dumber than sasha, because sasha has learned a very particular skillset that anne never had to. the fact that anne doesn’t know how to assert herself at first may seem like naivete, but when you consider that she always had sasha standing up for her at school, and loving parents who gave her unlimited attention at home, why would she have needed to develop this incredible resilience that sasha has honed? it’s clear that she’s had this survival skillset for years before being imprisoned at toad tower, knowing exactly what to say to get what she wants, never letting herself seem weak or vulnerable, never being honest about her insecurities. the fact that anne is honest and emotionally expressive is a good thing, because it shows that she grew up in a healthy environment that allowed her to communicate her needs and have them met. sasha is a genius manipulator because she had to be to survive, but we know that anne’s parents and community love her and one another unconditionally, so of course anne is isnt jaded the way sasha is.
anne’s great at connecting with people, she’s kind, she’s a great athlete, she’s a great cook, she’s funny, she’s clever, she likes puzzles, she plays guitar, she watches indie cinema, she’s empathetic, and she becomes increasingly more mature and responsible over the course of the show. yes she has a lot of flaws, such as being naive, insecure, lazy, spoiled, and shallow, but not only do her flaws improve as she grows, they’re also perfectly normal flaws for a middle school girl to have. she just turned 13. she’s hardly dumb, she’s just a regular kid, exceptional because she isn’t exceptional. what ultimately makes her worthy isn’t because of her mind or her strength or her skill, but because of her capacity to love, and her herpetology career is a testament to that, building a shrine to the place and people that became her home, however briefly.

i was thinking about it and i realised that i had sort of subconsciously been under the impression that atla was one of those star wars situations that tells you anyone can be magic but in actuality every major plotpoint just ties back to one single family every time (some of you may be saying “but rey wasnt a skywalker!” to which i respond “who was the primary antagonist then wiseguy” but this post isnt actually about star wars so fuck me ig) anyway what im getting at is, other than zuko, whose major theme is his relationship with his family and therefore with his nation as a whole (and also he was actual royalty so it was inevitable tbh), every single other main character’s parents were not explicitly benders, or were nonbenders. aangs parents arent ever even shown! i mean for a show where its canon that magic is genetic, they do a waaaayyyyyy better job at delivering the “anyone can be a hero” storyline than media that actually textually tells that story lmao
not only is the show about children, its also about lots of marginalised groups. all the characters are POC, toph is blind, katara is a girl (toph is obviously also a girl but her character doesnt really explore misogyny like katara ykwim?), sokka is just some guy even in the context of the magic system, even aang — the literal chosen one!!!! — is just a random kid who also happens to be the reincarnation of the most powerful spirit in the galaxy or whatever (thats a recurring theme of the show actually), and zuko ,who is the most nepo baby protagonist, isnt actually the prodigy of his family and is instead frequently upstaged by his little sister lol
like it would have been so easy to do a “and guess what the reason toph is such a great bender is because she’s secretly king bumi’s great niece!!!!!!” reveal, which is such a classic plot twist that tbh its barely a twist these days, but instead toph was a badass specifically because of the unique perspective she gained by being disabled and the way that allowed her to connect with the world around her ie the badgermoles — thats a way stronger story! the only relationship reveal we get (other than i guess aang learning he’s the avatar which kind of maybe counts??) is zuko learning he’s related to roku which. i mean he was already a nepo baby so it doesnt detract from his agency really and in fact reinforces his recurring “there are two wolves” conflict, which up to that point was mostly shown through azula and iroh (think his ba sing se fever dream wherein there were two dragons inside him voiced by azula and iroh respectively one advocating good the other evil, foreshadowing the final conflict of the season where he must choose between azula and iroh and he backslides in his moral arc by choosing azula which is a really cool narrative choice that tbh now that im thinking about it i probably should have made this tangent its own post but we’re here now ig)
also i was thinking about how bending is genetic but also skips generations (neither kya nor hakoda is a bender, and we dont know of any grandparent other than gran gran, who is a nonbender, and i think its a dominant gene bc ursa wasnt a bender to my knowledge but zuko and azula are, so probably neither kya nor hakoda had bender parents, but obviously katara is a bender, but sokka isnt, plus there were identical twins in the volcano episode where only one was a bender which does confuse me scientifically but i dropped science so whatever) and bending is shown as common enough that probably everyone has atleast one ancestor who is a bender so tbh it sort of circles back to being random lol
this post is really just me thinking out loud (well not. out loud. bc its written. you get it) so it might not be coherent but idk its another way that atla is very clever and has effective storytelling and creates themes subtextually etc etc ok thanks

E
Tumblr media
hopefully the ask box is back now!!
ok so I haven't had an OC with a name starting with E in years but i remember enough about the fantasy novel i tried to write in 5th grade to bring one of those blorbos back for this post!!
so basically this oc was named ezra. he was one of the main characters of this fantasy book i tried to write at age 11 about a group of friends at a magic school who accidentally steal a dragon egg (only one of them realized it was a dragon egg at first until it was too late) and that act ends up setting off a political revolution which these kids are thrust into being the leaders of despite literally being in middle school/high school by the end of the planned series (note: i only ever wrote one draft of the first book bc i do not have the worldbuilding patience to write a fantasy series).
ezra was the last of the six main characters introduced. he wasn't part of the original friend group but he just kind of got dragged into everything bc he accidentally walked into a meeting while delivering groceries for DoorDash (note: doordash hadn't been invented yet when i wrote this story so i invented the concept of course) and the protagonists were like "ah shit he's seen too much i guess he's in the group now." he was generally an aloof comic relief character who thought he was too cool for this but eventually it's revealed he's the nephew of the empress who's the main villain of the series and he's a loner bc he's the only one in his family that didn't want to follow in her footsteps or something.
his counterpart was a character named phoenix who had a similar comedic daredevil type personality and they'd get on each other's nerves constantly while also always committing to the bit. also phoenix had some trauma of her own so they bonded over weird family stuff. but they main thing that pairs them together is in this universe everyone can do general magic but some people are like genetically born with other powers (don't ask how i never did any detailed worldbuilding) and phoenix is very up front with the fact that she's able to turn invisible and she uses it for mischief all the time, but it's not until the end of the first book that we learn ezra's secretly had the power to detect the presence of invisible people/objects/forces/ghosts/etc. phoenix is pissed off but mostly bc aw damn that means he's been faking his reactions to her pranks the entire time.
anyway initially i planned on having phoenix and ezra become a couple at the end of the series but now even tho there's no chance of me returning to this project i do have a Revised Version that exists only in my imagination where i changed some original plot details and one of them is that they date briefly but then phoenix figures out she's a nonbinary lesbian and she and ezra are just like platonic soulmates. tbh i think that dynamic kind of went into hunter and lillly tho so even if ezra unfortunately is a blorbo from my brains that's gonna stay forever in my brains at least his descendent hunter is gonna someday be a blorbo from your shows. thank you.
send me a letter and i'll tell you about an oc!

i finished god of war ragnarok
i wouldnt call it a bad game, but i personally did get tired of it lol. quickest possible bullet points below...
what i liked:
the intertwining themes of fate, familial relationships, discussions of abuse, people changing, and the cycle of violence
stuff about judgement, kratos learning of what mimir did to that whale and his lore text entry being smth like "to think that he did something as cruel and awful as this..." and then kratos saying how it reminded him of his own past sins
kratos' personal character development, esp w the end foreshadowing he'd be a loved god instead of a hated/feared one like odin mocked him over
the initial thor boss fight i saw leaks of before the game even released, it was great without me playing and v cool doing it
all the wolves :)
the character designs were mostly nice
angrboda <3 but actually all the female characters are done well
theres a lot of good little details (but also kind of a negative bc its technically not necessary and half the time its not subtle about it)
the little nods between games; kratos knowing the runes, kratos expanding on his "close your heart to it" lesson he taught atreus, etc.,
its probably good for photomode, idk i didnt take too many pics lol (but also a negative...)
loved hearing sunwon cho as the squirrel (and was obsessed with his intro)
they definitely improved the enemies. theyre not all just orgres/trolls/elemental humanoids
nice music
things i didnt like:
kratos looses his cape/coat immediately in the game 🙄
there were a lot of weird moments in the story where it felt like things just conveniently happened. freya happens to show up w odin's noose she pocketed earlier. thrud wants to kill atreus but sif literally just steps into the frame and wholeheartedly vouches for atreus, despite their last interaction being her calling on thor to kill him, atreus decided not to kill odin, but imprison him, hands it to kratos, he hands it to freya, she gives it back to atreus, and sindri comes out of nowhere and smashes it and vanishes. probably more moments like this that suddenly happen
and if im gonna seriously describe it, its more like weird character development too? besides the story not developing things in a convincing way, but like specifically w that one sif/thrud/skjodr/atreus scene it absolutely felt convenient that she just shows up and handles thrud's whole sheltered/indoctrinated pov, and thrud becomes an ally right away. stuff like that
i personally had a v hard time understanding or empathizing with any character that wasnt kratos. MAYBE atreus (but its much less than the first game). i was outright annoyed at characters like freya, brok, tyr, and the brother, and did not like them
a lot of character deaths felt like they had no impact to me? the almost traveller almost had a sacrificial heroes' death, and all i thought was how i didnt even know his name. brok died so easily and quickly (despite the dwarves not really getting any story for themselves) and i never really even liked him anyways, thor fucking turned to dust and 20 minutes later i forgot what his fate was, freya's brother died and i could not care less about him
also the tyr is secretly odin thing was... idk why they did that tbh lmao. i found it funny and started laughing when it happened. idk what that accomplished and there and odin wasnt even successfully hindering them. up until the reveal tyr just was included in my mental criticism of the characters as having done nothing
but ig if u forget the game w how quickly and irrelevant the odin plot twist was i'd bet some people would just flat out remember tyr as being useless
the game also reminds me of horizon zero dawn to horizon forbidden west where u meet characters but dont have time to get to know them, but the sequel acts like youre all buddy buddy now. maybe except mimir, i wouldnt say i loved sindri, brok, and especially new characters like the brother and tyr until the twist
before the game came out i think i saw a reviewer compare the quests to tw3's side quests and i think tw3 is overrated, but the side quests here didnt come close, and they definitely didnt work as substitutes for kratos/atreus bonding w the new characters
the humor was also weird, its how i imagine mcu movies are. characters like brok, sindri, and the vanir brother especially suffered from it. and even kratos who i liked the most ended up getting repetitive "jokes" that were just atreus saying smth innocuous, and kratos saying no for the 50th time (it gets old)
the game also lacked subtlety many times. im not opposed to media flat out having a character declare a point of the work, but this game had so many details, i could praise atreus' comment abt sif being a good mom, mimir being shocked, and see it as an indication that theyve changed (but they also do say "we need to change!" 100x later), but also thor later when u go out w him the 2nd time and he had some comment abt literally not thinking and i was like :/ come on... another time was when atreus looks at the ground and points out how messy sindri's home is in his absence, while later at brok's funeral i noticed his still dirty armor w/o a character having to declare it
the world looks good in a photomode shot for promo material way, but playing it initially felt overbearing? i like to shit on naughty dog for beating a dead horse with the last of us, but they at least have their level design together where at any moment u know where to go along/head to, disneyworld style. even if gowr was kind of open worldish, i constantly felt like i couldnt distinguish what area would lead to the main quest, or if it'd be a side collectible (and more often than not i decided to just pick up the thing bc i was already there), so that ironically felt not accessible?
also the fact that some puzzles just relied on being able to find them, instead of actually finding something out. some enemies and shit also blended into the background
the gameplay ai was incredibly annoying, this kind of goes with my complaint abt subtlety, kratos not even coming into an area and atreus giving the first hint how to progress w/o me even laying eyes on the puzzle. then by the time i'd consider one hint, he's already given me the final one. also somehow there being hints for simple things but never when i was actually stumped. and the "you're on fire!" was very not needed, if i dont notice that, that's probably on me. Accessibility is one thing, but not letting me think ironically goes against one of the themes lol
i did have some bugs, heimdall's lion turned invisible at one point, i had floating boats, and half of atreus' dialogue in vanaheim was cut off and never repeated, which felt frustrating lore-wise, there'd also be moments where i pressed the journal to read and it just froze blank, making me not wanna read any lore
i think there was also less of a focus on lore in ragnarok, kratos saying "hm." when reading a loremarker compared to atreus summing it up in 2018, and expanding in his journal. i guess the excuse is the focus on ragnarok, but still
i cant decide how i feel abt this, but kind of faye making an appearance? i feel somehow her haunting the narrative in the first felt more impactful than her physically showing up in gowr. i'd say maybe characters speaking abt her (besides that thor fight stuff) wouldve been more interesting? esp since in 2018 kratos/atreus only know brok, sindri, freya, and mimir as allies then and mimir only finds out at the end. idk i feel like her being a mystery was kind of unique?
back to the characters tbh but i wish u saw more? in 2018 i remembered thinking theyre literally in the middle of nowhere around no humans besides like 6 raiders in the beginning, but then even at the end of ragnarok, no dwarves meet kratos or anything, alfheim was still at war, and probably still should be w the bro dead, vanaheim only had the small group, and asgard felt like just thor's family. the game didnt expand on the few they had and didnt even show that many
so yeah, maybe other things, too, i cant think of anything else. i guess technically its a good game, definitely a polished AAA game? but i wouldnt say i liked it much..? i wouldnt give it a near perfect score either lol, i dont hate it, but it does remind me of how i feel abt hfw. i definitely liked 2018's and even gow3 more.

Hey you….Inuyasha avatar au…elaborate?
OKAY SO—
The dog demon family are fire nation royalty. I feel like that kind goes without saying. Inuyasha is perfectly suited to being a fire bender with his look and personality. Instead of Tessaiga with all its crazy abilities, Inuyasha gets to be the avatar instead. Much like getting Tessaiga, Inuyasha only realises he’s the avatar and begins to learn other bending after meeting Kagome.
Kagome is an Airbender. Tbh I feel like there would be a lot of airbenders in this series cuz there’s a lot of characters with air/wind related abilities but airbending also has the most spiritual roots. Possible other contenders for airbending include Miroku, Kikyo, Koga and Kagura.
Kikyo could also be a waterbender cuz I get kinda waterbender vibes from her but I get only airbending vibes for Kagome. She’d absolutely master it in really practical small ways to make her day-to-day life easier.
Sango is an earthbender. She’s really strong and capable and works with her hands a lot so I feel like Sango would have figured her bending out very young and gotten to work learning to fight and make weapons sooner.
Kohaku is a waterbender. His weapon and fighting is quicker and more precise so that’s the vibe I get. I think Kohaku wouldn’t have learned as quick as Sango cuz he’d feel bad that his bending style isn’t seen as strong as hers. Also, water bending can be used for healing and I think Kohaku would secretly practice that more than using it to fight. If we’re going with waterbender Kikyo, she probably helped teach him.
Sesshomaru is a fire bender, has blue flames, can generate as many bolts of lightning as he likes, is learning to manipulate lava, can use combustion bending if really needed…yet Inuyasha gets to be the avatar and not him and he is PISSED about it.
Jaken doesn’t get bending cuz I said so. Rin is a water bender and she uses it to make flowers grow bigger. Kohaku teaches her how to heal with it.
The wolf demons are all pretty evenly split between air and earth. Shippo is an earthbender bc I think he’d really utilise his creative magic through it. Sango and shippo also know how to metal bend but they’re chill about it.
Kagura is an Airbender with no wish to have any connection to the spiritual side of it until she meets Kikyo and falls in love with her and I feel like Byakuya would be a super chill, unassuming fire bender just to fuck with Sesshomaru further.
Naraku pulls an Amon and for a long time, no one thinks he has any bending at all until his hand is forced and he’s revealed to be a water bender who’s particularly skilled in blood bending, which is how he keeps people under his control. He also has no issue in using blood bending to take peoples power away and absorb it. Again this would work well with Kikyo’s power being the only thing that stops him if we’re going with waterbender Kikyo.
Moroha doesn’t have any bending but she’s completely capable without it and never even worries about it bc her parents were never taken away from her and they were always there to be completely supportive and loving of her anyway THE END.
Okay it’s 2am so I’m gonna sleep but yeah I need to flesh this out more.
