I'm Back!

Hello! It's me! I'm not dead!

I have been wanting to come back to this blog for the past two years despite how briefly I was actually posting on it. My fanfiction document has almost doubled in size since I was last over here, it is now at a whopping 153 pages. So basically I'm thrilled to be back, I'm out of work on medical leave right now so I'll have a good few weeks to get a bunch of posts queued! Recs will be back starting tomorrow 5 pm EST!

Pre-emptively blocking people is good for everyone.

Seriously. The amount of times I see people whining or laughing about being blocked when they 'haven't even done anything' just tells me that not many of you know its actually a really good way to properly curate your online space, and its not something to be offended over.

Blocking is a form of protection. Its also a form of mutual protection.

Especially on websites that don't offer more extensive or usable filtering, tagging and avoidance options. Twitter, for example.

Blocking isn't some personal insult. Its a method of saying; hey, we clearly shouldn't interact, so I'm gonna build this soundproof wall between us to make sure we can't.

To use The Salmon Analogy, if I run a restaurant based on salmon as the main ingredient, and you're allergic or or severely dislike salmon, me refusing to serve you isn't a personal sleight. Its me recognising that you can't or really don't want to eat salmon, and its me protecting you from an unpleasant experience and myself from you inevitably screaming at me for serving salmon.

If you are someone who enjoys 'objectionable' content, such as gore, and you stumble across an extremely anti-gore blog, its absolutely a viable option to pre-emptively block them. Maybe your paths never would've crossed, but its better to ensure they don't than potentially wind up the victim or hate or harassment.

Blocking is an absolute sure-fire way to ensure that you do not see something you do not want to. It should be used as liberally as you want to.

Is it just me or are the vibes in the fandom… weirdly lovely? Like sure, some people have left, and I’ve had to unfollow others, but also, I’ve discovered and followed so many amazing new blogs, seen so many lurkers make blogs to join in, and we’ve welcomed a new wave of refugees from twitter! and for the most part, it feels like our tumblr home has been having discussions which are very civil, reasonable and levelheaded. It feels a bit like springtime, like everything will actually be okay—like I’m actually looking forward to what dteam will create next!

in response to the question about clothing dyed with arsenic, I actually have people mentioning it in the notes quite a lot whenever I post an image with a green garment, so I will address that below the cut here here for anyone who is interested! 💖💖

💚 first and foremost, this blog is really all for fun, so you can definitely imagine the garments in question being made with a completely non-toxic dye. it may not be historically accurate, but again, this is all for fun, so don't let that dissuade you from selecting a green garment if that one is your favorite ☺️☺️

💚 second, arsenic based dyes like paris green and sheele's green made very specific (albeit very vibrant) shades of green, so not all green historical garments are necessarily made with those dyes

💚 third, your risk of arsenic poisoning from simply wearing a garment colored with arsenic-based dye is actually relatively low. if we're assuming historical accuracy here, the amount of undergarments between the wearer's skin and the exterior garment would prevent significant skin contact, and thus limit actual arsenic exposure. the biggest danger actually comes from the arsenic dust flaking off of the fabric and entering the air where it can then be breathed in (thus also why arsenic-dyed green wallpaper was so dangerous)

💚 fourth, despite all the attention and infamy bestowed upon green historical garments, there were dangerous chemicals (including arsenic) involved in the historical production of many different kinds and colors of dyes. while perhaps not to the same extent as dyes like paris and sheele's, if we're assuming historical production methods, then almost any artificially produced dye could pose a risk

💚 lastly, I will freely admit that while I love dress history, I am no expert in this, and most of my knowledge has been picked up here and there tangentially as I studied other topics. if anyone has any more expertise to share, I would love to hear it!! 🥰🥰

but I hope this sets your mind at ease!! no need to fear poisonous chemicals, since you are more than welcome to assume a completely non-toxic dye was used to create the same color! again, this blog is really all about having fun and indulging in some imaginary dress-up, so please interpret the questions/garments in whatever way brings you the most joy!! ☺️🥰

Hi sorry for the pretty long unannounced absence y'all, things have been pretty hectic here, so, I've got a little update for you and a little peak behind the curtain.

I've been running this blog since 2018, nearly five years now. I'm actually starting my senior year of undergrad next year. As you've probably noticed I've had a hard time updating lately, life has gotten a bit more busy.

I still really love this project but I think I'm going to put it on hold for the time being. This blog isn't going anywhere, it will still be up as an archive, and as an easy way to reach me, and I may still answer things on occasion when I get the chance. I would like to come back to it in the future, but for the time being I'd like to dedicate my time to some other projects.

If anyone who follows me here is interested in my future writing projects, I'll try to keep you all updated. Don't be strangers. We'll see you around.

This is probably a foregone conclusion based on my activity in 2022, but I just wanted to make a formal announcement that I am retiring the Rune Factory Archive.

It was a blast running this place and gathering lost media and details for the Rune Factory series, but I've moved onto other things. I'm still a diehard RF fan (the RF3 JP limited edition is pre-ordered 💦) but I'd rather enjoy it in a private setting from now on.

This blog still contains valuable information, so it will remain up as a resource for other fans.

It's silly to claim ownership over what at the end of the day is material I only scanned or screenshotted from a game anyone could get. Meme it to hell and back. Post your favorite hidden art. I will no longer be taking questions on this blog. BUT, if you have specific questions about the archive and the content I've posted, feel free to send a message here off anon. I may answer privately if I have the time.
