@your-local-ruebit-hole-detective ok i’m sorry but. i will answer your question.
age of calamity advertises itself as a prequel but in reality it’s a fix-it au with slight differences and writing that’s pretty bad but i have grown to appreciate it for how insane it goes sometimes.
the actual plot is that as a child zelda used to have a little egg-like guardian robot that she was forced to leave behind as she grew up due to her father’s pressure etc, and when the calamity happened this little robot saw it and traveled back in time with the goal to prevent this and protect zelda, creating a branching off timeline. there’s also an extra villain who is this prophet (???? this games writing isn’t good enough for me to tell you what his deal is exactly) who worships ganon and for most of the game works with the yiga to bring him back, except he’s more insane than them and works directly with malice and also sucks at his job because when he finally gets to ganon he unceremoniously dies and everybody’s like “yeah we have no idea what this guys deal was”.
the one significant change that doesnt have to do anything with time travel shenanigans is the fact that link doesn’t find the master sword as a child, but instead gets appointed zelda’s bodyguard for his genuine skill and then finds the master sword during one of the in game missions. despite this, revali still hates him, and often times when justifying this revali cites reasons that are literal complete opposites of how his grudge was characterised in botw, cementing revali’s characterisation as just a cunt for no reason. it’s great.
the significant time travel related change is that when all the champions go into their divine beasts and fight the blights a portal opens and the new champions (teba, sidon, riju, yunobo) get teleported in and help defeat the blights. zelda also doesn’t get her power by protecting link from a bunch of guardians, the scene still hits the same beats of link fighting things off so zelda can run away except in this game how it happens is that the insane prophet shows up and literally summons all the blights against link which makes the scene ten times more insane.
throughout the game the yiga show up regularly, often times with master kohga himself showing up and being the overall goofy guy he is, except he also has a hunk of a body guard who’s name i genuinely can’t recall. multiple times in the game kohga gets defeated and said hunk of a body guard throws him over his shoulder says “it’s not over yet” and walks off carrying kohga like a sac of potatoes.
in the original game, when shit starts hitting the fan the yiga stop showing up as enemies and at some point in the story kohga shows up without said hunk of a body guard, says “the prophet is insane and the calamity actually isn’t a good thing as we’ve discovered”, highly implies that the reason for his change of heart is because said prophet killed his hunk of a body guard (who literally. doesn’t show up again for the rest of the game mind you. he legit died), and is like “yeah the yiga will help you. after this whole thing is over we’ll go back to being bitches to you but rn let’s just kill this ganon guy and then walk our separate ways”. the fact that the calamity being a bad thing throws the yiga’s whole ideology and purpose into question is never addressed.
the dlc makes the death scene explicit, also making it a parallel to zelink by, again, making the bodyguard fight all the fucking blights so that kohga can escape. the scene literally opens with the body guard limping as they try to escape. it’s so much a parallel to zelink it’s insane. im afraid do not know what the hell they were cooking.
some other choice moments from this game that go insanely hard for no reason:
1. the first portion of the game is dedicated to zelda recruiting all the champions, and when it comes to recruiting revali he for some reason assumes it’s an attack, and sends all the rito soldiers to fight the intruders off. the rito do not question fighting some random hylians one of whom is literally zelda. the mission ends with a boss fight of link vs revali, which only ends without them killing each other because zelda runs in and goes “stop???? the fuck ????”
2. the entire game has cute bonding moments with the botw champions meeting their idols and getting to spend time with them. that is, except for sidon, who spends the game saving his older sister in a parallel universe which he has to leave by the end of the game, meaning every scene involving him has him on the brink of eleven hundred simultaneous mental breakdowns. the dlc adds a scene where the little sidon who is native to said parallel universe gets to interact with botw sidon, and botw sidon tells him that he’s going to grow up big and strong and will protect his sister, and the entire time he tries really hard to not acknowledge the fact that they are the same person, and that mipha is his sister too, presumably because nobody wanted to animate sidon ugly crying. in that scene you can literally see his soul die in his eyes it’s great
3. the dlc features tulin, god knows why. i don’t know how he got there or what he’s doing. he’s just there.
4. you can make noble pursuits in the game and drink them before missions for a buff. pre-gaming defeating the calamity is a thing, i cannot stress how much it is a thing in this game.
5. there are two separate animated cutscenes where link eats rocks on screen. only one of them involves the gorons, the other is a scene where link is being discussed and as the characters talk about how great he is in battle the camera pans to him eating rocks, seemingly on a dare from the other soldiers, who all surround him and are immensely excited by the fact that he is actually eating rocks.
6. the dlc features a scene where zelda gets to cook. link is horrified the entire time. she does not belong in the kitchen. she belongs anywhere outside the kitchen. the dlc also gives her the master cycle as a weapon. she commits vehicular manslaughter
7. the king gets a redemption arc, where he apologises to zelda only after she unlocks her power. the reason he realized he was wrong was because a sheikah relic that he confiscated from zelda turned out to be an ancient shield and it saved his life from a guardian blast. his apology is literal dog shit and right after it the game forces you to play as him for a mission. it almost made me rage quit.
8. thunder blight has an attack where it just swings its hair at you
9. when you finally fight calamity ganon he doesn’t have the form of the spider ganon from botw or even the boar, he is instead a buff guy made out of malice. literally just the shape of a buff non descript guy made out of malice. his boss fight is endless and the entire time you’re just beating the shit out of a non descript buff guy shape with a stick.
10. there’s a cute little side mission called something like “girls beauty contest” (in reality they all beat the shit out of each other for the title), where you’re only allowed to select female characters. that is, female characters AND gorons. think of that what you will

sometimes I think about the fact that the final final (for real this time) isaac dlc is called repentance and it ends with isaac ascending to heaven by realising there’s nothing he needs to repent for and that he didn’t deserve his abuse and then i want to cry a bit. just ugh. god. “are you sure this is how you want this story to end” because isaac thought that his life deserved to end in suicide and he’s being told directly that it’s not and he deserves happiness… and not even going into the religious stuff i think too much already about how suicide is considered theologically a sin and so many of isaacs personas represent the post mortem punishment he believes he's going to have but even despite that he reconciles with his faith and is able to move on anyway because what matters isn’t the dogma but in following the tenets to love one another and therefore love oneself… like god isaac was made for the self hating traumatised obsessed with Christianity kid i was around the time it came out and still lives inside me today bc that just fucking hits so hard man it’s beautiful unironically.

nemona's sync pair story in pokemon masters ex can be viewed anytime as soon as you recruit her, and in just a couple minutes of dialogue we scarlet/violet story analyzers get some great subtext-made-text and new subtext:
confirmation of one instance of nemona working herself really hard for the sake of others and seeing anything less as a display of her own weakness and letting them down (even if the others are her pokemon in this case). it's something that i thought always seemed likely to be a theme with her if we knew more about her, with stuff like her mostly un-commented-on arm brace / compression glove and perfectly clean room nearly devoid of personality outside of her meticulous schedule and displays of her achievements, and what that implied about her relationship with her family, teachers, and idol
recontextualization of why she wears sporty athletic wear and runs around everywhere, even though she's a straight-A nerd who has to take a break every 50 feet when she initially takes you to school and is still winded enough to be worthy of comment from arven by the time you're running around in area zero
the fact that penny, the otaku shut-in, did not get called out like this means either she performed exactly as arven expected her to based on how she looked, or that nemona was doing the worst out of all of the group and might actually have some kind of chronic condition / disability like some fans theorize. nemona's stamina now being revealed to be a long standing insecurity of hers despite shrugging it off with a joke in area zero implies the latter to me
if she shrugged off a long standing insecurity with a joke, that could potentially say a lot about any other things she didn't want to make a big deal about that fans are a little suspicious of, like saying her parents were "hands-off in a good way" with her while her sister got all the attention, which i definitely think was an deflective understatement or simply not realizing there's a problem
and if her low stamina and "bad throwing" are in fact due to some kind of condition and mostly out of her control, that also makes her calling herself weak that much more tragically unfair to herself. someone hug this kid please
i trust these folks to write a compelling nemona if they were given the chance to, not just a fun and cute one. they get it.
her 15 minute storyline from her debut event is mostly just good fun with her meeting a bunch of people and almost winning a big tournament with her new friends hilda and bede. it also, however, touches upon how sad she is that people mostly get jealous of her rather than feel inspired by her (which she actually comes up with a motivational speech to try and combat this time, with hilda's help). it even has her tell blue and bede that florian/juliana back home is "a precious treasure" to her, which made me melt into boiling taffy.
now i'm looking forward to whatever else they come up with when nemona's more plot-driving friends arrive. despite how cheesy and hit-or-miss pokemon masters tends to be, they're treating scarlet/violet with respect so far. it's canon to me. i kinda need that right now when we're not sure what the friend trio are gonna get in the DLC of the actual game.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Characters AGAIN~!
So I decided to do ANOTHER character post, because I played through the DLC's not that long ago, so let's just dive right into this shall we~? (Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's; Teal Mask and Indigo Disk Spoilers ahead! YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.) Starting with my new favourite character~! (Sorry not sorry Arven!) KIERAN
Tumblr media
Where do I start???
Upon first meeting him, my inital impression was; 'Aww, adorable wet cat boi! He needs a hug!
Throughout the course of teal mask I began to feel REALLY bad because well...
How dare the game make me lie to that face-
I went into the DLC's practically blind, so his change in personality, while I saw it building up in Teal mask, still got me HELLA off guard in Indigo disk.
Like DAMN boi!
I personally really liked the idea of the theory of the toxic chain (Though I know it was not what actually happened in the game) twisting Kieran's desires, that might just be me though.
For those who might be curious...yes, yes I did use Ogrepon against Kieran.
The fact that he was so desperate to beat Juliana/Florian (Player Character) That he used a master ball to catch terapagos and then recklessly used the pokemon that he barely knew anything about... said something
I liked the overall character arc for Kieran (though I wish I could have given him a hug at the end when he apologized)
Definitely throwing him onto the therapy bandwagon with Arven though.
CARMINE
Tumblr media
Moving on to Carmine, I...had a mixed first impression of her.
She agitated me at first, but I knew i was only looking at the surface so I didn't want to jump to conclusions
and damn was I glad that I didn't, she proved to be an enjoyable character.
She started to win me over when Kieran tells the player character, "Actually, she was tearin' the shed apart, trying to find a third mask for you before you got there..."
That finally tipped my dense brain off that she's not all mean and that she does care, just doesn't exactly show it in front of others.
she completely won me over when she told me I could sucker punch Drayton (I love him but sometimes I stg-)
When she was genuinely showing worry for her brother during Indigo disk I just kinda sat their like; "I did this, and I'm sad that I did this." regretti spaghetti was hitting hard.
She also paid witness to Kieran nearly DYING near the end of indigo disk, not to mention helping with battling terapagos... and so...
*Yeets her into the Therapy Wagon* That makes the therapy count four now. (I never mentioned this in my previous character posts but Arven and Penny are ALSO in the therapy bandwagon) Whose next?!
DRAYTON
Tumblr media
This guy
THIS GUY.
Don't get me wrong, I love him as a character
But sometimes, SOMETIMES, I want to punch him.
For me at least, he's like the older sibling that LOVES to annoy the hell out of his younger siblings.
but I wont lie I was definitely giggling a bit under my breath when he swaggered up to Kieran and called him "Ex Champion"
It was like he'd been WAITING to say that in revenge for when Kieran beat him and dethroned him from his champion spot.
He is cunning and I love that to bits.
he knew EXACTLY what he was doing when he dragged you into joining the league club and getting you to challenge the elite 4 + Kieran.
"I've got a feeling you're trying to play puppet master." He was not just trying, he was playing puppet master rather successfully.
BRIAR
Tumblr media
This may turn into a rant but here we go regardless!
At first, I thought; ah a professor, surely she must be pretty responsible!
and yeah at first she was decently responsible for the students she was in charge of.
Then I started getting near the end of indigo disk
Madam, I know that Kieran is a strong trainer, but also, let him mentally spiral in peace.
Also the fact that Kieran literally says this; "Ms.Briar can be so reckless sometimes... I feel like I always have to keep an eye on her."
Okay, mild concern is officially rising.
'Terrastrialize Terapagos' she says, Ah yes, let's terrastrialize this pokemon that was only JUST caught and we know nothing about, that's totally safe!
Now we're BOTH to blame for Kieran and Carmine requiring therapy!
Despite this I don't hate her
but GodDAMN she nearly gave me a stroke-

The Mochi Mayhem Epilogue Was Hilarious (Review)
Here it is. The finale of the DLC. The ending to an era. How should we celebrate this milestone? Excuse me? Could you repeat that again? The Chicken Dance? What?
Anyways, this epilogue is bringing in the main story and DLC together by making the Paldea trio meet up with Kieran and Carmine, the DLC characters in one last misadventure to stop the land of Kitakami from doing the chicken—er, Mochi dance by a mysterious Pokemon that looks like a Pecha Berry.
Tumblr media
The overall epilogue was very hilarious, but it also got me having a lot of questions. I know that the event starts in Kitakami when you examine the peach plush in Peachy’s. After the little scene that happens, Arven calls because he wants to come over to the player’s house, meaning you have to travel all the way back to Paldea where Nemona and Penny tagged along and then Kieran gives the player a letter, which then makes the Paldean group go back to Kitakami, which is when the event starts happening. I don’t know why the game makes it so that we have to jump through different regions. I know it’s for plot as the Paldean trio didn’t get offers to study abroad. It made me wonder what would’ve happened if they had come along during Teal Mask.
Despite that, Kieran meshes well with the Paldean trio. It sucks that Carmine was possessed throughout the whole story, but it makes sense as she had her fair share of spotlight in the Teal Mask. This is Kieran’s time to shine! I find it hilarious how he was theorized to have been possessed, but when Pecharunt showed up with the evil mochi, Kieran is the only other person aside from the player to not eat the mochi as it hit his forehead and flew off. Ha, take that, theorizers! I wonder what would’ve happened if Nemona had been involved in the Teal Mask DLC—maybe that was why they took the Paldea trio out of the story for the DLC because the story’s issues would’ve resolved fast.
Pecharunt is a weird Pokemon. While it has a connection with the Kitakami lore, it was never really explored. It just showed up and wrecking havoc. While it did give the Loyal Three their toxic chain, it never really had an involvement in Teal Mask until this DLC. The Loyal Three are its retainers, but there were slight hints of its existence sprinkled here and there. I’m also confused on why it decided to wake up and decided to possess everyone with toxic mochi. Is it angry? Chaotic? I’m not sure. Despite that, Pecharunt is no slouch in battle.
What I liked about the DLC is the fact that Kieran joins the player as a Multi Battle partner which is a definite redemption from his behavior in the Indigo Disk DLC. It was nice being able to battle together with him. I was actually surprised that Kieran’s grandparents were trainers too. They were pretty tough. Arven and Penny were challenging too. I do like that in the midst of the double battles, the last match is against Nemona, who is challenged as a single battle. I loved the mix-match of battling styles.
Once you complete the DLC, Nemona, Arven, Penny, Kieran and Carmine can be interacted with in the League Club with the former three being special coaches. I do like that they give you such a bonus afterwards. I feel like it’s a good way to end everything as you are reunited with the three most important characters in the main story followed by the two most important characters in the DLC. What makes Paldea special is the unique varieties of characters that makes it a worthwhile experience.
Argh, it’s going to be hard to say good-bye to these characters because they’re all so good. All the Gym Leaders, Elite Four, teachers, Team Star, students and DLC characters were just so GOOD! Scarlet and Violet legit shot up to my third favorite mainline Pokemon game because of how good the game and DLCs were. What will Pokemon do now after the masterpiece that was SV? If Unova remakes are true, will it live up to SV’s hype? Will it be better than BDSP? Only time will tell. What are your thoughts on this epilogue and the DLCs as a whole?

How would you rank the gens?
Ope I feel like I'm gonna upset some people LOL so disclaimer remember these are just my takes.
But this is how I personally see them (counting remakes as being part of the gen they remaking):
Gen 9 - Paldea Region
Tumblr media
I've been thinking about this since the games came out, so I'd like to say recency bias isn't as much of a factor here. Bugs aside, I genuinely, genuinely love the storytelling, characterizations, and open world approach. FRIENDS THAT FEEL LIKE ACTUAL FRIENDS?? HAVING THE LEGENDARY WITH YOU THE WHOLE TIME, AND IT TOO HAS A PERSONALITY & BACKSTORY??? THREE SEPERATE STORYLINES THAT CONNECT TO A CANONICALLY DEAD PROFESSOR AND AN "EVIL AI" FINAL BOSS??? Like omg. I was amazed. I honestly usually dislike the "gimmicks" each generation brings, but terastilization caught my interest and I have a strong feeling nothing will personally top it as a gimmick for me. The DLCs really sent it all home for me for the #1 spot, like oh my god LOL. Past DLCs always just felt like something extra, but I literally cannot see this game as being complete without Kieran, Carmine & the rest of Kitakami/Blueberry peeps & their storylines. My interest in the games only grew because of all of it - and that's a massive compliment given the fact of how hard it is to accomplish such a level of monumental significance with only a few hours of gameplay. I've yet to replay the game with earlier access to The Teal Mask, but I feel like this would make it even more immersive. Just pure chef kisses here.
Gen 2 - Johto Region
Tumblr media
A very close second. Heartgold/Soulsilver is the most elite remake in existence and idc if it's old school, I'll die on this hill. Johto is just so full of life - the continuation story is amazing, the immersion into culture and legendary stuff??? Mwah. Silver is an excellent rival, RED being a thing (the ultimate level of iconicism), and the double region will always hit. The soundtracks HIT and my god hearing them remastered iS INCREDIBLE. I even get obsessed with the pokeathlon dome and I'm usually not someone who gets into that kind of stuff. But THEY MADE IT FUN. And I love all the cute activities you can do with your team that can follow you around. So glad they brought this feature back. :')
Gen 5 - Unova Region
Tumblr media
Oooooh I loved the reset of Gen 5. It's based on where I'm from and there were so many refreshing aspects of Black & White. From the new pokemon, to the NYC culture, to N & the whole beautiful storytelling there, and a sequel that somehow made everything even MORE polished. I literally remember referring to this region as the "Isshu Region" before the English names dropped becuase of the hype LOL. 10/10, cannot wait for these remakes. Gamefreak don't mess this up.
Gen 4 - Sinnoh Region
Tumblr media
Oh, Gen 4. You hit good. The lowkey dreary vibes of Sinnoh is very nostalgic to me, and Piplup is one of my best buddies. Cynthia being the very first female Champion, and being as fearsome as she is, was such a big deal to me. Definetely Barbie'd her a bit in my mind because I look a like her and loved how much of an academic she was (but I def do not have her length in hair, lmao). Soundtracks are fire, of course. The way legendaries were integrated in the story without going too Dragonball Z was IMMACULATE, and the lake trio will always be my fave lil buddies. The only con I'd give this gen is that I disliked the HM reliance & D/P are practically unplayable to me since Platinum exists. I had low bars for the remake once I heard it wasn't Platinum, and ugh, they really dropped the ball. HOWEVER: while it isn't main line, I fucking love Legends: Arceus and would rather have that over an excellent remake, tbh.
Gen 1 - Kanto Region
Tumblr media
This is another nostalgia one for me because of the fact that I quite literally was introduced to pokemon since before I can recall most memories (this is what happens when you have an older sibling with a gameboy, lol). It's probably tied with Gen 4, tbh. Firered wasn't my first game, but it hit really good because I "played" so much of R/B/Y. I know Gen 1 has its faults, and it's often seen as being pretty bare bones in comparison to other generations. And while I completely agree, god damn, what a good foundation for a franchise. Every town had a personality to it and is very memorable to me. The soundtracks are FIRE. Smaller pokedex, but damn does team building hit (and the starters are elite). Blue was also consistently my favorite rival until Kieran, lol. #oldrivalshipping/conflictingshipping was the original OTP xD
Gen 7 - Alola Region
Tumblr media
So there's a lot of things I liked about Gen 7. It took a really big risk by breaking the formula, and it really immersed me into the Hawaiian culture & seeing your pokemon more as friends. I loved looking at pokemon in a different way and some of the pokemon introduced in this region are among my favorites (e.g. Ribombee, Bewear, Shiinotic, Mimikyu, Rockaruff, to name a few; starters also HIT). NEBBY AND LILLIE ARE ELITE. The professor is so lit, and Team Skull is the funniest team organization alive. AND YES, GET RID OF THE HMS. I honestly think a remake would make this gen jump up a bit more for me - the 3DS could barely handle this game, and it was showing. The facial expressions also need some work LOL, and I honestly dread the tutorial of the game. I like the ultrabeasts conceptually, but the execution of their involvement in the game is very DragonBall Z-ified. Ultra Necrozma lowkey would've been an amazing time for a "light" type even if it didn't make much sense, but hey, it was an awesome nuzlocke-killing moment anyway. xD
Gen 8 - Galar Region
Tumblr media
I actually have a lot of play time for this gen. I was very obsessed with it when it came out, and could probably get glued to it all the same nowadays. But in hindsight, I realize a lot of my attachment to it was because of the semi-open worldness & ability to create a lot of different kinds of teams with a lot of new and old pokemon I like (I also liked having access to things earlier, like Ice Types before the end of the game lmfao). I still have a few things I really enjoy outside of it, though, like Hop's storyline & the setup of the gyms being in this stadium, sports-esque setting. But the plot? Eh. I have a lot of constructive criticism on how some shortcuts were made, and especially with the whole darkest day stuff lol. The only thing I liked about that fight was the dogs coming in and being cool; I wasn't impressed by or interest in Eternatus at all. The Leon fight afterward was fun, though! But oof, those weird men with the sword and shield hair afterwards were also just...no. :D DLCs also didn't quite hit that hard - it was more about having more pokemon than anything for me. So overall, it's fun to play, but I'd definitely change up the plot to make it better.
Gen 3 - Hoenn Region
Tumblr media
This is where I think some people might wanna fight me, and to that I say you're probably valid. I don't know what it is with the Hoenn region because I actually don't have too many critiques about it (e.g., let's have less water routes); I just have never been able to get into it quite the same as I can others. I should honestly give it another shot, but I think I'd wanna do Emerald over Omega Ruby/Sapphire given the route they took everything with the remake lol. That's about all I have to say on this one since I never really connected with it as much!
Gen 6 - Kalos Region
Tumblr media
This one feels like an especially hot take to have atm given where the pokemon community is in general LOL. Critical opinions ahead......Listen...no offense, but Gen 6 just ain't it for me at all. xD It's probably the one gen I actively dislike. The games felt way too easy with too much hand-holding/handouts, Team Flare & Diantha were a joke (and I'm not even a competitive player), and the whole group of friends felt more like an annoyance to me more than anything. They just weren't flushed out right. Neither was the plot. Like what was that plot. Outside of that, a lot of things just felt like "Look! Pokemon is in 3D now!!" over and over again because of how rushed the game was. So other than introducing fairy types & having pretty protagonists with some new clothing options, this gen is pretty forgettable to me. And that's a shame, because I like pokemon! I was one of those people who were curious on if we were gonna connect to Kalos for Gen 9, but I'd geniunely pick the DLCs we got any day of the week. I don't think Legends ZA will change much of my opinion on the mainline game, but given how much I loved Legends Arceus, I'm hoping it can be used to retcon & generate more interest/connection to the Kalos region in general.
Again, these are all just my personal opinions. I hope you all can enjoy pokemon in any way that feels good for you :) <3

Baked With Love
◦ Baxter and MC are baking a cake for Liz’s birthday. But this time not at the last minute.
◦ This takes place after Baxters DLC, where he and MC share an Apartment.
◦ Gn! MC.
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。..・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
You hummed along to the radio in the kitchen as you unpacked the groceries Baxter had picked up from the store on his way home from work. You smiled at him as he moved behind you, placing a hand on the small of your back as he passed you by, kissing the top of your head before disappearing to change into something more suitable for the task at hand. He didn’t want to risk messing up one of his suits after all.
A few moments later your boyfriend returned in a simple T-shirt and A pair of possibly designer Sweatpants. Not that you could personally tell the difference anyways. “Nice and cozy?” You mused, setting a mixing bowl down on the counter as he sauntered back into the kitchen. “Oh, extremely.” He responded in kind, leaning against the counter as he watched you set everything out. He didn’t have much experience with baking. Hell he’d only baked twice in his entire life, both times being with you, in fact baking cakes together seemed to be a common experience with you two. Only this time it wasn’t done in the middle of the night, just hours until the treat would be needed.
He snapped out of his thoughts noticing your apparent struggle with getting the hand mixer out of the upper cabinet. Wordlessly he glided up behind you, placing a hand on your hip as he reached up effortlessly pulling the device down for you, handing it to you with a knowing smile on his face. Your face dusted pink as you stared up at him gingerly taking the mixer from him, quickly turning away muttering a “Thank you.” as you plugged in the mixer.
He chuckled, amused by your shyness. Even after being together for so long he still found you'd get flustered by the simplest of things. “Of course, anytime.” He nodded following you over to the counter picking up your phone to take a look at the recipe you’d pulled up. “Are you sure we can make this? It looks complicated.” He asked, scrolling through the instructions, going ahead and setting the oven to preheat. “How hard could it really be?” you replied with a shrug of your shoulders. “As long as we follow the instructions I think we’ll be just fine.” You assured him taking the phone away from him.
“Come on, Let’s get to it, I don't wanna be here all night.” You stated, pulling one of the bowls to you. “Oh too good for late night baking all of a sudden.” Baxter teased as you handed him a whisk, pushing the dry ingredients to one side for him. “Never but I would Like to be in bed at a reasonable time. I still have a few things to do tomorrow.” You answered as he rolled his eyes. “You, in bed at a reasonable time? That I'd love to see.” He responded and you gasped, reaching over to hit him lightly on the shoulder.
Baxter laughed rubbing his arm in mock pain as you made a face at him. “As if you’re one to talk!” You complained. “Touche.” He Agreed with a shrug of his shoulders. “But at least I wake up with less of a fight now. Unlike someone we know.”
“You’re so right, Cove is a pain in the ass to wake up.” You joked causing Baxter to pause shooting you a look that could only have said. Are you kidding me right now? Baxter may not have been particularly close to Cove Holden but even he was aware of what an unnatural early bird to man was. You couldn’t help but laugh. “It was worth a shot.”  You grinned at him, setting your phone on the counter between the two of you so you could easily read the recipe.
“You couldn’t think of anything more convincing?” He questioned reading off a measurement, scooping out the needed amounts, focusing on his task taking great care to get them as close to perfect as he could. “Maybe. But where's the fun in that?” You laughed as Baxter opened his mouth to speak, getting interrupted by a notification sound coming from his pocket. He knitted his eyebrows together, fishing the device from his pocket unlocking the screen.
You watched him smiling to yourself as an idea struck you. Before he had time to notice you dipped your fingers into the bag of flour, flicking it at him just as he looked back at you. You couldn’t help but laugh at his surprised expression. You did have much time before you got a taste of your own medicine, a handful of flour being tossed back at you as you shrieked in surprise. You took a step back instinctively looking down at your now flour covered shirt. Your boyfriend's melodic laughter breaks your surprise as he tries to stifle his laugh.
“Oh you think this is funny?” You laughed getting closer to him tugging his hands away from his mouth as he laughed. “I actually do.” He managed as his laughter died down. Looking down at you with a soft expression pulling one hand from your grasp, lacing his other hand with yours as he brushed the flour from your cheek with his thumb.
“I might have gone a bit overboard.” He suggested causing you to roll your eyes. “Nooo really?” You laughed letting him attempt to dust you off. “I apologize. How can I make it up to you?” He wondered only half joking. “Well, I wouldn't turn down a kiss.” You spoke shifting so you leaned against the counter.
He tilted his head at you before smiling softly. “It’s doable~” He hummed, tilting your chin up to look at him, as he closed the distance between the two of you. The kiss was soft, and full of affection. It only lasted a few seconds before he pulled away, pressing a final kiss to the top of your head, as you pouted at him as he pulled away. “Sorry I thought you said you wanted to get this done quickly.” He teased going back to his bowl urging you to do the same. Begrudgingly you went back to work, each of you combining the wet and dry ingredients and putting it in the greased cake pan.
You got to work on the frosting as Baxter put the cake in the oven. You hummed along to the radio as you worked, Baxter moving to rest his head on your shoulder, wrapping his arms around your waist as he swayed with you to the beat of the music. “You just can’t help yourself can you?” You questioned glancing back at him, feeling him press his nose into the crook of your neck. “Nope. But there’s no harm in dancing with my Partner every now and then.” He pointed out. It still gave him butterflies to refer to you as his partner. Especially since for so long he believed he’d missed his shot. Granted he almost did… Lucky for him you were forgiving enough to give him another shot.
You peered back at him, noticing he had gone silent. “Whatcha thinkin’ about?” You asked as he shifted his head to watch what you were doing. “Mhm..just thinking how lucky I am..” He muttered, pressing a kiss to your shoulder. “And how Incredibly happy I am to be with you.” He finished. Your heart swelled as he spoke, a soft smile appearing on your features.
“And about..how in love with you I am.” He added trailing off as he spoke. You paused your mixing staring down at the bowl in front of you processing his words. Had he said what you thought he said? Did he…Did he love you? Your mind raced as you abandoned the mixer turning in his arms so you could fully face him. He loosened his hold allowing you to turn around but looked anywhere but at you, desperate to avoid your gaze. His face burned a bright shade of red.
You reached up holding his face turning his head to look at you, staring up at him a rosy hue making itself boldly apparent on your own face. “Do you mean it?” You asked, watching him glance away for a moment. “You should know by now I don’t usually beat around the bush like this.” He admitted effectively avoiding the question in his own statement. “Baxter.” You stated gaining his attention once again as he watched your expression as you repeated yourself again. “Did you mean it?
“I do. You have no idea how much.” He admitted, reaching up, placing his hand on top of yours. He watched you anxiously for a moment before attempting to speak again “It’s alright you don’t-” He began only to be interrupted by you pulling him into a kiss so quick your teeth hit his own. He made a noise of acknowledgement before recovering, pulling you in, pressing you to his chest as he returned the kiss.
He could taste the mint from your chapstick. It wasn’t a flavor he particularly cared for but at this moment he found it to be incredibly addictive. Your hand moved from his cheek to the back of his head, your fingers weaving themselves between the silky black strands as Baxter backed you up against the counter effectively boxing you in. pulling away for a moment to compose himself. His face flushed as he looked at you with half lidded eyes and a lovestruck expression.
“I love you too.” You managed after catching your breath pressing your forehead against his, A happy smile on both of your face as you stood with each other basking in the moment before. “Is something burning?” Baxter pointed out glancing at the oven as your head snapped up.
“THE CAKE!” You exclaimed pulling away and Making a mad dash for the oven barely remembering to grab an oven mitt as you opened the oven door fanning away the smoke that flooded the apartment daring to set off the fire alarm. Defeated, you set the pan on the counter staring at your crispy cake as Baxter fanned the smoke detector glancing over at the mess on the counter. Already aware this was about to turn into another late night baking session.
“I’ll get the wine…”

Howdy! I have a question about your blind Arven AU
Well, a few to be exact
1. Is there gonna be fanfiction or something for the AU, or is it only told through drawings (I do love your drawings btw!)
2. I know you did the Paldea kiddos, I was wondering what would Kieran and Carmine be like in this AU (I think that was mentioned on this blog, though I don't remember. My memory is not the best)
3. Would the story of ScarVio play out as normal in your AU or are there major story changes?
Sorry if its a lot, your au is one of my hyperfixations and it is kinda a comfort thing for me, so yeah-
I never thought anyone would say that my art would be someone's comfort-Hyperfix. THAT HIT HARD, THANK YOU!!
Now answering your questions…
Tumblr media
Is there gonna be fanfiction or is it only told through drawings?
I have one that focuses on the entire story of the game, including the DLC and the epilogue. I haven't posted any chapters yet, but I plan to post them on AO3. I'm doing it from the perspective of Nemona, Arven, Penny and the leaders of Team Star (base game). Cof cof mi AO3 Profile spam moment
Nemona's story doesn't change much honestly, but she is accompanied by Juliana and Florian.
The story of Team Star focuses on the academy's past, the difficulties of its members' disabilities and conditions, and a couple of other things. (For example, the fact that Giacomo before the events of the base game was able to talk and Penny did not need a wheelchair).
Arven's story focuses on how he tries to save Mabosstiff, his only friend, by himself. He only has his staff, a Smartrotom at the beginning trying to search for the Titan Pokemon. (Yes, he went down to Area Zero).
I have a couple of one-shots that I want to post based on some drawings I've been doing these days, some have to do with Giarven (I'm definitely the CEO for a reason) and the rest are cute interactions between characters (Like Nemona and Giacomo exercising their roles as president and vice president of the student council respectively).
For now I think I'll just make comics that tell some Lore facts, but I'm fine with the questions!
Tumblr media
What would Kieran and Carmine be like in this AU?
I've been thinking that Kieran is a boy who constantly had to be hospitalized for much of his life (I still haven't really decided what disability he would have), I haven't thought much about Carmine's disability in this AU so for now it's just like the Carmine canon, she cares about her brother (maybe a little too much) because she doesn't want him to get hurt. Kieran still loves Ogerpon here, the stories helped him not hate hospitals so much.
Tumblr media
Would the story of ScarVio play out as normal in your AU or are there major story changes?
Tumblr media
There are some changes in the story but it wouldn't affect the gameplay of the game to be honest, here are some story facts:
Turo and Sada Co-exist in this AU, they are both pokemon teachers but they have been missing for 5 years. (No contact with the outside world, not even with Clavell or Arven).
Giacomo and Penny were not disabled before the bullying.
The Starmobiles are adapted for the leader, example: Atticus's one covers him from the sun.
Juliana and Florian co-exist.
The academy claims to be an inclusive institution for students with disabilities. The majority are healthy students but a considerable part of the students have some disability or condition (usually so mild that it allows them to live day to day without many difficulties).
Saguaro is one of the teachers who is in charge of the education of students who must be in classes adapted for them. (Like Arven!)
Team Star and Arven are more related than in the canon game.

Pokemon Theory: Hassel, Drayton, and "Sinister Hands"
Hey guys! Before the pokemon presents starts tomorrow, I wanted to hash out some observations I’ve made on the scarvi dlc and the implications they have on pokemon lore as a whole. I don’t have much of a big hook to draw anyone in, though, so let’s just jump into it.
Tumblr media
Hassel is only one of two characters in all of gen 9 who is left handed. The other is professor turo, who does so to symbolically mirror sada. Through this, I don’t think it’s hard to say that Hassel’s left handedness is also something designed to mirror someone else.
Tumblr media
A lot of people have already pointed out that Hassel and Drayton have a lot of mirrored animations.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As such, I don’t think it’s much of a stretch to say that they are the big foils here.
There’s a bit of a snag, though.
With Sada and Turo, it’s obvious that this right/left theming is in regards to the past/future, but it becomes a bit murky if you attempt to apply this to Drayton and Hassel.
If anything this theming is reversed.
Tumblr media
Drayton’s supposed to match Sada’s past, but his ace is the futuristic Archaladon.
Tumblr media
Similarly, Hassel is supposed to represent the future, but his ace is Baxcalibur, who is themed around dinosaurs, much like past paradox pokemon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The major exception to this is their signature moves. Electro shot takes a turn to fire, while Baxcalibur takes double damage after using Glaive Rush. Drayton’s ace’s weakness is the “past”, while Hassel’s ace’s weakness is the “future”.
So… how are we supposed to read this exactly? It’s an intentional contradiction —a paradox, if you will—but one whose intent is hard to parse.
Something else has been nagging me about Hassel’s left-handedness: it’s an anachronism.
See, given the name, Baxcalibur is designed to be a medieval weapon. In which case fighting with it left handed would be considered a major taboo for that time period. Swordsmen of that period were trained exclusively with their right hand, which meant fighting with your left was considered to be inherently underhanded.
This bled into a lot of the language and culture at the time. The word “sinister” itself literally means left in latin, we just use it to mean evil in modern times because those were the traits associated with left handed people back then.
It was a common trope for duels to be won unfairly by having the perpetrator fence with their right hand, only to stab their opponent with a hidden blade in their left. A left handed fencer in most medieval fiction is almost inherently duplicitous.
Another one was for left handed fighters to be masters attempting to hide their true strength by using their non-dominant hand to fight. A more benevolent form of trickery, but deceitful nonetheless. Maybe it’s a sign that Hassel is pulling his punches, given how low “elite four member” is compared to the multiple dragon tamer champions we’ve had?
youtube
You can see both of these tropes being invoked by this scene from the princess bride. Both opponents intentionally start with their weakest hand before switching to the right, but it’s a double entendre also meant to show that neither is as bad as they appear to be either, a fact made even more obvious by how honorably they fight.
To be honest, I was a bit concerned I could be grasping at straws with these comparisons, given that Baxcalibur’s Japanese name doesn’t even refer to a sword, but then it hit me
Tumblr media
Its signature move is it literally backstabbing you. That’s the pun.
Which leads me to what’s been nagging at me here: why is one of Hassel’s major character motifs centered around him being a traitor if he never once betrays anyone in the story? If he was built from the ground up to be our metaphorical Brutus, then who is Caesar?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think the obvious guess of who Hassel is a traitor to would be the dragon tamer family he seems to have run away from.
He tells us why he left, but his explanation is more than a little vague. Why did he stop being a musician and join the elite four? Why is he so necessary to his family’s hierarchy that they are willing to fake his father’s illness to get him back, even after all these years? There’s more to this story that Hassel is either downplaying or straight up not telling us, and that makes it the prime suspect for Hassel’s “traitor” status.
However, as we are in Unova for the dlc, my inner fan theorist can’t help but also point out the faction actively themed around medieval knights.
Tumblr media
Especially when their boss is yet another blonde-ish lefty with swept back hair who is, frankly, more than a little ceasar coded himself.
Tumblr media
Hassel’s backstabbing is probably a good thing for us either way tbh
Drayton’s the right hand man, however, and as such we can assume that he is aligned with whatever Hassel is against, willingly or otherwise. The Mark Anthony to our Brutus, if you will. The responsibilities of which he is likely dragging his feet on by staying in school as long as possible. Which actually brings us back to the original right hand/left hand dichotomy.
I think the big difference between the Sada/Turo dichotomy and the Drayton/Hassel dichotomy is that Sada and Turo are defined by a relentless pursuit of something. Drayton and Hassel, on the other hand, are defined by avoidance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What’s important to the symbolism isn’t that Drayton is using his right hand, it’s that he isn’t using his left. He isn’t someone pursuing the past like Sada, but using his obligation to the school as a way to avoid the future.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Similarly, I think it's safe to say that Hassel is using his teaching position to escape his past moreso than he is looking to his future.
Because of this I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to say that Hassel’s past and Drayton’s future… probably coalesce in the same place.
What this actually implies is a question that will probably only be answered by our inevitable black and white remake, but I am curious about it nonetheless. I’ve got a bunch of extra comparisons to make between these two that didn’t quite make the cut here, so feel free to add your own observations and theories if you come up with anything.

hello hello! I just came to drop by to say that I very much love your vvyk playlist, I've been listening to it weekly (would listen to it more often if it didn't make me too sad ;_;) Also. I gotta ask about Between My Teeth, are you thinking that's from Yakou's pov or Vivia's? I feel like it could fit them both even if I'm leaning towards it being from Yakou's pov especially since the words 'I don't want your heart between my teeth' could then be taken both metaphorically and literally.
omg!!! I was having an awful day and this just made my mood do a 180 :D
I'm so glad you like my sad playlist, there's a lot of love that went into it ;u;
For Between My Teeth, I was definitely thinking Yakou for that reason haha... #cannibalmoment
"I'm too broken to save you too, I admit it" hits hard... and "you deserve someone else who can treat you like I want to" ;-; Especially with the DLC context I think Yakou would be soooo scared of any serious relationship, blaming himself for failing his wife-slash-client whom he was supposed to protect... he doesn't think he deserves a second shot at happiness because he's such a fuckup
but I think that makes him more endearing to Vivia, the fact that this total fuckup, someone who's so weak-willed and selfish and lazy and hypocritical... can still be loyal and earnest and kind enough to go out of his way to help other people who need it, at his own expense... means so much more ;-;
but of course neither of them ever communicate any of this to each other 💀

The Revali Rant
Fun fact I’ve actually gone on this rant before but it was... 7 months ago and I was half asleep and on the bus when I wrote it so actually I’m gonna do it again cuz i can :)
also @flustered-flux @initforthecache @godmodebeginswithlesbians @bonethievery @https://www.tumblr.com/brennaauragoldwing @caligulousaquarium @barnabyboppins @rudecanadian (idk if you wanted to be tagged rudecanadian but you did ask why he lost so)
Disclaimer I do not care if anyone dislikes Revali, like I truly do not care lmao. However I do get annoyed when the fandom dissolves the champions to like. One core trait. And especially when Revali is just. Mean/weak bird. It’s annoying lmao
That said, lemme get into it.
As a whole Revali is pompous, he’s mean, he’s full of himself, he knows how good he is. But none of those negate the fact that yeah, he lost to Windblight Ganon. However, there are two things that a lot of people tend to look over when talking about this. Each champion is caught off guard, and in one of the memories you actually see this happen. Zelda and Link come back from a shrine with Zelda once again unsuccessfully gaining her power, and as this happens, the “final battle” starts. None of the champions were actually able to prepare for their fight, and further more I don’t think any of them were ready to fight a version of Ganon? Like do people forget that the other champions died to, or is it fine that Revali died because he talks himself up? The second thing is that each Blight was tailored specifically for each of the champions. Again, Revali was not the only so called great warrior to die, they each were up against an unfair fight. Further more, before I get into the true disadvantage that Revali had, I would like to mention that (and correct me if I’m wrong) in a dlc you can go back and fight each Divine Beast and you get something similar to what each champion fought with, you can truly see, that once again each champion was not prepared to fight. But even then, you may be wondering, why was Revali at more of a disadvantage than the others? They were also caught unawares, so why was Revali different?
Well, let me answer that.
Revali was fighting Windblight in the dark, and the Rito see much worse in the dark, and I know it sounds like I’m stating the obvious, but as a whole birds just can’t see at night, and the Rito have awful night vision. He could not see anything while fighting Windblight. He only got glimpses of Windblight whilst fighting him, pair that with him being unprepared, and it’s already a bad situation, but then we have to get to Windblights skill set.
He is able to send out tornados which would be able to knock Revali out of the air if he were flying, which is very likely, and once again, he could not see them. Revali is a very skilled warrior, obviously, but I don’t it’d be all that possible to try and hit a moving target while also trying to dodge multiple tornados, while also not being able to see. It seems very unlikely actually. Then there’s also his projectiles, if you are unable to see properly, probably will be unable to know where the fuck a projectile is hitting you from. There’s his lasers, which shoot out very quickly, and guess what? If you don’t see it quick enough you’re probably going to get hit. Regardless of the fact that each champion was fighting something tailored to beat them specifically, Revali also had to do it in the dark.
Despite all of this though, I feel as though it’s unfair to always talk about how easy Windblight is when Waterblight is also incredibly easy. In fact so is Fireblight! The reason why Thunderblight is so difficult for most people is because of similar the Gerudo and Hylians are. They are the most similar in build, so of course a ganonblight that was tailored to Urbosa’s weaknesses is going to be the most difficult for a Hylian. And of course, each person is different, so to some Thunderblight might not actually be that hard, and that’s fine! But it is important to note that all the champions were up against something tailored to their weaknesses.
And the most tragic part? Revali was the last to send out his distress signal, which was basically the signifier that the champion was about to die. In each of the divine beasts songs when you get close to them you can hear morse code intertwined with the music that spells out s o s. And Revali’s comes out panicked. Everyone knows just how proud of a person Revali is, and for his signal to come out like that is just plain sad.
And even then, you don’t really hear that much about Revali in the base game. He is not as remembered as the other champions, he just simply isn’t. When you go to each area, you can very easily tell the mark that the champions left on history. The Zora live for a long time, so a lot of the people you meet at the Zora domain have some sort of image of Mipha, she is so clearly remembered it hurts, in a bittersweet way. In Goron city they literally have Daruk’s face etched into the mountain. In Gerudo town Urbosa was literally their leader, so it would be difficult to forget her. In fact in each area except Rito village Link is accompanied by a direct relative of each Champian. Sidon in Zora’s Domain, Riju in Gerudo Town, and Yunobo in Goron City. Revali does not have a single direct descendent. Revali is not truly remembered by anyone. Teba is simply the one who takes Revali’s place as protector of Rito village. Revali did not have anyone. He was young. He lived and died as a warrior. All Revali had was a ledge. Nothing else.
Which brings me to why I think Revali acts the way he does. Now of course, I will be the first person to admit that yeah Revali is mean. But does anyone who makes this very obvious criticism of him know why he is so apparently mean, self-centered, ect, ect?
Because I truly believe that that Revali and Link are foils of each other in some form. Link and Revali are very similar in theory, both notable warriors who train day-in day-out. They both aren’t in any form of leadership when brought in to help with the calamity. Revali was an extremely trained person, and in the dlc cutscene when Zelda goes to recruit him you can see that Revali had not actually perfected his gale. His ability was not something handed to him through being royalty, or simply because he was born. He MADE his gale. He literally practiced everyday, more likely than not injuring himself in the process. Revali is a perfectionist, plain and simple. So, in a way he sees himself in Link. Link is a warrior. Link was not someone who was all that special. Except then he, a nobody warrior suddenly became special, simply because he pulled out a sword from the ground. Revali acts so pompous because he knows how much he had to work himself to the bone to actually be someone. If he can’t at least put on an act of confidence than who is he in comparison? Yes, Revali was likely the most powerful warrior in Rito village, but how much of his status do we actually know? Do we know how revered he was? With each champion we clearly know why Zelda picked them, Mipha had an amazing healing ability, was also a princess, Urbosa was known to be an excellent fighter, like people compared her fighting to dancing, she could quite literally summon lightning, and she was also leader of the Gerudo, Daruk also a known fighter and has his magical(? you get what I mean) protection. Revali was in all honesty just a warrior. He wasn’t known for his ability because he had not actually perfected it in yet Zelda went to see him. In the dlc you can read his diary and it reveals that Revali was insecure, painfully so, and the anger directed at Link in game is in part because of Link’s silence. He writes in his diary that the fact that Link simply wouldn’t react to anything he would show him just fed into his insecurity, which caused him to lash out. We see that to most of the champions he is just confident, plain and simple, but when it comes to Link he’s more than just confident, he’s demeaning, but Link never reacts.
Was Revali in the right for how he acted to Link? Obviously not, but at least there’s a reason for it. In each memory we can clearly see that throughout the time that the champions spent time together no one ever really asked why he acted the way he did. None of them attempted to get close to him (except maybe Daruk but that might've been his personality), they all pretty much tolerated him. Despite this he was still able to work with them. It is apparent that beneath all his snark, Revali did care, at least a little bit.
Revali died without anyone truly caring about him or knowing who he was, and that’s just the truth of the matter.
Again I do not care if someone dislikes Revali, but sometimes it gets annoying that so many people in the fandom seem to hate him for no reason other than being mean. Then again I’m the one getting pressed about a fictional character so who am I to talk lol. This did go from talking about revali v windblight to talking more about his character but its fine, i still p much got what I was trying to say across so like yknow.
I feel like I could say so much more about him but at some point it goes from a bit of an analysis to headcanon so I won’t lmao. If you read this far, maybe check out my revalink fanfic “When the snow melts, will you still be with me?” on ao3. Also, if anyone would like to know my headcanons for Revali (and all the other champions of course) uhh let me know lmao
the dlc i mention a few times is the Champions Ballad dlc, in case anyone wants to look it up
Also, links to 2 vids I reference https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ti3qY2AeFo0&t=278s this talks about Revali v. Windblight Hyrule gamer also made a vid about how Revali acts but I have yet to watch it
https://youtu.be/B1FJp9WISGQ this is so you can hear the sos signal I referenced at some point

After 97 (98 counting the wolf from the beginning) deaths, I can say that I FINALLY BEAT MY FIRST (90 percent) BLIND BLOODBORNE RUN. DID IT. SPOILERS FOR ENDING.
And so, this is the last Bloodborne Run update and I know I skipped much. Last update, I defeated Rom. Killed Master Logarious after learning you can just visceral attack him to stop him from going into his second phase, Alligned myself with the Vilebloods, gave Alfred the Summons and was shocked yet not shocked to see him going crazy (I didn’t expect him to turn the Queen to mush) and then turns out he just… dies at the altar. I was so sad to see that, my only friendly person just dead, probably by offing himself.
Played a game of tag with Micolash and died once to the people on the stairs, and found a glitch that he just stands right by the cell door when I was fighting off the skeletons and hit it, so I did not kill him the intended way but I did not want to play tag anymore it was 4am. Gained access to Upper Cathedral Ward, lost a lot of Insight by the brain suckers and fought the blue alien people in the Lumenflower Gardens, defeated Mergo’s Wet Nurse and went to check on the lady in white who peaced out after the boss.
The Dream’s on fire, went to the handicapped old man Gehrman at the tree and refused his offer, of which cured his kneecaps and slaughtered me throughly right before I would reach his Second Phase. Since it was endgame, I decided to explore more. Found the Altar of Despair and with the help of NPC acting as a distraction and the fact I was over leveled by this point, killed the Daughter of Cosmos and accidentally revived Queen Annalise making Alfred surely turn beyond the ‘grave’, I’m sorry man. Found the Darkbeast Paarl who by this point, was easily bodied and made peace with Djura, the man with the machine gun until I realized it is endgame, and me probably has loot. So I killed him, then the guy in the Forbidden Woods, and the other guy who came cause I killed the other guy and got a whistle out of it and forgot to kill the Ward man.
DLC was on sale and I am not counting those deaths literally, the hunters in the first arena wrecked me and their weapons have unfair range, Ludwig wrecked me, got a glow stick out of it, the two guys in the hall wrecked me. Got to the Research Hall and gave a woman some brain fluid, died many times to the Living Failures until I realized that the doors are a safe spot from the meteors. Then I met Lady Maria, she can fist my chest any day but wow was she easy with the Augur and just sticking close. Gascoigne does not teach you parrying, she does. Got lost in the Fishing Hamlet and called on online hunter to help me kill the fish giants, Orphan of Kos and Laurence.
With the DLC tackled along with my sanity slain over how damn hard it was, Gehrman was less tough and just when I thought I won, a creature appears as the Moon Presence and smashes me to pulp since I had barely any items left. I defeated it, and became a Black Leech and the Plain Doll is now the mother figure of a new Great One.
The End!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Game is maginificent and now that I can finally search up everything I missed a lot but I did a lot too. 10 out of 10, great music, hate/love gameplay and fun weapons. A wonderful first soulsborne experience. Hunter Hat, Cainhurst Armor, Hunter trousers, Knight Gloves and armed with my Threaded Cane and Holy Moonlight Sword. Currently in NG+, just beat Gascoigne and loving how you can sweep, but not without challenge still. Do I understand the lore? Probably not. But I am to get the refuse ending this time, and with the help of searching finally, try and get anything I missed. 57 Hours well spent!

Guess who just beat SMT IV
Full spoilery thoughts under the cut.
Tumblr media
TL;DR: Hard recommend for those who like Persona and want to get into SMT. Game is easy for SMT games if you do a magic build, and make sure to bring the fusion calculator and a guide if you want to do Neutral Ending. Resources used: Neutral Route Guide, Detailed Map of Unclean Land, Detailed List of Sidequests, Universal Fusion Calculator (Does not censor spoilers!!!!!), SMT IV HD Texture Pack
This game was an experience. I loved the characters so, so, much. Lucifer, Merkabah, and Masakado were a joy to look at design-wise. A friend of mine actually informed me that Lucifer's second form has a very stark reference to the fact that Walter was eaten by him, but I think Merkabah's was a bit more horrifying. As in, Remnants of Jonathan were nowhere to be seen, mostly in the first form. If you're wondering, I *Did* go for the Neutral ending, with my team of a Magic build Flynn, with Vishnu as support, and Mara and Shiva working as my physical attackers. I did want to fight Masakado in the DLC Quest "For the past... For the Future...", but I decided against it when Masakado not only wiped the FLOOR with me, but also that the guide i looked at recommended that I use Fiends and Archangels as my team. which, if you dont know, Archangels are gotten by another DLC, and the Fiends are extremely tedious to get. My only complaint is that the Neutral route was unsatisfying, but i think thats everyone's opinion. I played for the story and the fun characters in the end. Not for the gameplay. Because at that point, Lucifer and Merkabah were like wet tissue paper. Thanks again to @meme-boys-blog for motivating me to finish past Minotaur and beyond. Cannot wait to continue my SMT adventure with you. Onto SMT IV: Apocalypse! And Nanashi hitting Masakado with a steel chair. My plan there is to shoot for killing YHVH. Because as far as i can tell, thats canon going into SMT V.

very slight teal mask and indigo disc story spoilers (the kind that'll probably help decide if you want them or not instead of ruin it for you, probably?) and very long commentary about it. mostly about how they've chosen to advertise it
gonna hit you with my longest run-on sentence yet, here we go.
the fact that we had to datamine the teal mask, a DLC whose only returning character is jacq and does not add a line to or scene of anyone else (well, mentions of heath and clavell, i guess?) due to being available to do at any badge count, the fact that we had to dig and pry in unintended ways, just to finally prove that our implied greatest treasures nemona arven and penny would at least be available to hang out with in the indigo disc...
with no new images footage or mentions of the friend trio of in any of the six months since the DLCs were announced, and ten months after these kids opened their hearts and dorm rooms to us, saying we could hang out any time from now on, and turned out to be statues with one line of dialogue after we had already gone on an adventure with them following us around, helping us in battle, and getting to know each other as we walked, and our rival promised to keep up with our strength forever, then never got any stronger...
and now, in the narrative's timeline, we run off to another country to transfer away from our rival for life's school to one she would fit into perfectly the MOMENT she opens up to us about her problems and how she's so much happier now that we're the first person she can actually connect with and be herself around, and shows clear signs of worry that you're going to leave if she doesn't make you promise not to...
and also shortly after Arven became effectively a high school orphan, who's still treated as kind of a butt monkey dumbass for some reason, when he was putting everything he had into researching how to save his dog, his only dependable family, instead of going to class (i guess he's not telling anybody what he's going through, as usual with these kids)...
because TPC did not think these characters being present in the second DLC in any form and not actually having their newfound, hard-earned sense of belonging ruined by the basic premise of said transfer-student DLC was worth advertising at any point, and only showed off gym leaders Katy and Kofu... and that was only if you even bothered to look at the website to notice the feature at all, because hanging out with, battling, and trading with all of the past characters who aren't present in Paldea anymore is now actually a feature, but wasn't in the trailer...
is fucking mind boggling to me.
why is it a secret that they're in the DLC. why would they not just. tell people that as soon as they revealed the DLC. why is it still supposed to be a secret now, half a year later. why weren't they in the first half. why did they not think we'd be worried that they aren't in the second half.
silly me, why would you want to advertise giving people more of the story and main plot-driving characters, the main thing people defend the rushed game for, or that they might get some resolution, or reassure them that the vaguely happy ending to their sad stories isn't going to be ruined like they've implied it will be? that'd be silly. the only way anyone is going to find that out is through hacking
but at least we were finally able to pry that basic fucking information out of them against their will, the only thing I wanted to know about the DLC before I'd buy it, because they left in placeholder stubs for it by accident. oops. wouldn't want to tell people who were on the fence about getting the DLC this information on purpose or anything. need to keep it a secret
we were able to confirm through our own digging that nemona (and many others) are at least allowed to hang out with us, but the thing that would make both her as a character and me as a Pokemon player happier than we've ever been is if she actually got to enroll with us. why wouldn't she go, right? what do a school and society that don't respect her and an empty home where her parents should be have to offer, compared to living her dream with her favorite person, surrounded by people just like her? who can stop a champion from going wherever she wants? but for that to be the case, one of the "club rooms" we found references to would have to be hers. only us kieran and carmine clearly have what are marked as dorm room objects.
i'm glad we're getting what we're getting, but it's still no guarantee that nemona arven and penny will continue to be important to the story that they were the driving forces of, or get the true resolutions and healthier happy endings that they deserve, or that our "true equal" will ever be any stronger or more important to our character than our home ec teacher, or that they'll ever actually get to be a friend group on screen without life or death situations or harrowing grief being involved
oops! accidentally wrote decent character arcs and relationships in a pokemon game! they're going to spend time together in the postgame! abort abort abort quick shove them off into different countries before they hug
okay that's just me being cynical, they will almost certainly be important to the story, but... TPC has the power to make me not cynical and they keep choosing not to do that. but they do keep making really sappy recap videos using previous cutscene footage, like this attachment and uncertainty is something they're milking on purpose
maybe stringing people along with how much they miss the funny, cute, loving, strong characters, or are worried about these three lonely and isolated kids dealing with parental neglect, ptsd and self loathing, autism and motor impairments, identity issues, and more, whose problems are clearly not resolved yet if they can be at all, will... help sell more plushies and gacha pulls, and get people consuming more spinoffs, or something? idk, maybe
love to stop and helplessly gaze upon penny's depression pile every day before i go do tera raids / link battles with strangers (i don't actually do this but i might if poke portal worked indoors)
that all being said! it's pretty damn cool that hanging out with NPCs in a meaningful way and staging selfies with them and stuff is actually a game feature at all. that much is reassuring. it's a step in the right direction considering 90% of pokemon gameplay for a lot of people takes place after the credits roll and everyone normally despawns or becomes a one liner / repeating boss fight statue, or maybe if you're lucky a Multi Battle partner. it was just implied this game would be different, is all. i just don't know why they've chosen to string their audience along this way. wanting to have friends shouldn't throw up a $35 tollgate right as you go to talk to them that takes a year to open, and over six months to find out if it'll kill them when it opens.
i'd like to see pokemon postgame feel more like an animal crossing life sim type game in the future, personally, and this feature is a step toward that. i'd love if it one of your rewards for completing indigo disc was being able to take anyone you like as a follower as you go about your business and have them get on miraidon/koraidon with you as needed so your movement isn't impeded by it, even if there was no dialogue for it or anything. it's 2023, i shouldn't have to imagine something happening in a video game, or have to fill in my own fanfic to make a story satisfying, it should just be happening, on the screen. dammit. having a follower that goes with you everywhere even if you drive or have a following pokemon already was a feature in teal mask, so why not utilize it permanently?
(is the obvious player arven nemona penny 4v1 battle being saved for the final boss or something, is that why tera raids with them aren't a thing you can just do normally?)
Long story short: The basic transfer-student premise of The Indigo Disc implies that we ruin Nemona's happy ending and rub the one she really wants in her face to go enjoy it with Carmine instead for being more marketable, and I don't think they're even aware of why that would be a problem. Why have we not been reassured to the contrary in the last 6 months? I think a lot of us are waiting for this DLC anxiously instead of eagerly, especially after the first half.
