In your Living Weapon AU, if we went with the AU of an AU where Silver’s family was cursed when he was an infant… is there any possibility he could age as a Fae, now that he’s cursed as a living weapon? Is there any possibility that he’s still young, still just a child when Lilia first meets him? Can you imagine how much more protective Lilia might be when the human form of his sword is so so small in his arms?
first off i just want to say thank you again for all the verse lore interest!!! <33 i've had a fun time taking these questions back to my au partner and thinking these scenarios through, you guys have given us some new fodder to agonize over haha
for context; in the verse as is, silver's age is frozen at seventeen, and he simply exists until the magestone containing his soul is shattered.
additionally, the fae, lilia included, see the living weapons as nothing more than objects, a means to an end. silver, his family, and all those humans that they ruled over were cursed by the fae queen hundreds of years ago as punishment for their kingdom's avarice, and the fae do not treat them with any sort of dignity or respect. the curse forces the humans to obey their handler without question, and it is "trained" into every weapon that they do not speak nor act without explicit direction from their handler. they are not even allowed to shift into their human form without permission.
that context given, if lilia were to meet a young, even baby aged, silver, he'd absolutely be repulsed and keep the boy in weapon form until he "grew" up lmao the entire senate is snickering seeing gen vanrouge smoldering at the war council when they know that they've given him such a useless, tiny weapon so perfectly suited for his lack of pedigree and short stature. lilia's really not so great a guy in this verse to start out with haha he's very much the epitome of his ch7 flashback self who has absolutely no interest in engaging in any pests children thank you very much!! as much as we'd love him to be protective initially, that possessive and parental nature definitely grows with time as he begrudgingly starts to bond and care for the young man cursed to be his sword.
at the same time, there's that added layer of emotional turmoil with silver since he can recall his own past prior to being cursed. not to mention the distress of becoming emotionally connected to the very fae meant to wield him as a weapon and then dealing with those complicated feelings of parental attachment to lilia, all the while believing that the fae would never see him as anything other than a lowly weapon :')

Every now and then I like to read how people are getting ready for Artfight, and a hot topic is that people start drawing early every year, and it only increases. Here's the real reason Artfight discourages starting early, and why they're not enforcing it.
Artfight is a simple Art game. You versus another person draw art for each other. That's the art trading part. Those art pieces then have point values. That's the game part. Things after that point, make the game complex: how to determine the value of art, how to keep score, how to make things fair, etc.
The game part of Artfight includes a time restraint. There's only one (1) month to get as many points possible for your team. To make things fair, it is recommended to only start drawing during that month. Let's look at an improbable example as to why:
Team A make up a majority of people who start only after Day 1 begins. It takes them a few hours, up to a few days depending on the intricacies of their piece, to make an attack and have it scored. Boom! One day in and they start racking up 100 points that day!
Team B makes up a majority of people who all started early. They spend weeks making the nicest art possible because they don't feel any pressure. When Day 1 rolls around, they all immediately upload their art and BAM! Instant 100 points! They now have an immense lead as they get started drawing for other people, who are now behind in points.
To make the game fair, it's recommended to not draw early. So why isn't it a rule?! Well, quite obviously, no one can prove you started early or not 😋. Plus, it would be incredibly insensitive to accuse someone that there's no way they drew a full body fully shaded scene in so little time, when quite a lot of artists are just that fast. Plus the excitement of drawing can contribute to speed, yadda yadda yadda. And it would look even worse to have admins policing a bunch of artists, because then it makes the whole event too serious and unfun, and we lose the spirit of art trading as things get major competitive. And quite honestly, if we start policing each other, no one likes a party pooper. No one will draw for you.
I'm not an early starter, and honestly I won't ever be. I am also a competitive player. I'm quick enough of an artist, with some practice, to be able to draw something worth a good chunk of points. My art motivation is contained within the month, so personally I ruin the consistency for myself if I start sketching ideas beforehand. I do however save and follow a bunch of people beforehand so I can get into the excitement of drawing and don't feel lost on who to attack first. Other people starting early gets me a little sad, but I won't go out of my way to stop people when most have genuine reasons too, like overwhelming fatigue and such. No two artists are alike. And if someone were to accuse me of being an early starter, and start going into a tirade that it's not "morally right" and "you're ruining the game", you're getting blocked because who has time for people that annoying. Art how you want, and game how you want, but don't go forcing your ideas onto others.

people who go all scorched earth to try to avoid early attackers will never not amuse me. like buddy i'm sure nobody was frothing at the mouth to attack you in particular - but enjoy when nobody bookmarks your characters and you get no attacks because the week before is chaos. lmao. it's more attacks for the rest of us!

wasn’t pristin 4th gen tho?
nope. generation is determined by debut date. pristin debuted in 2017, and the earliest 4th gen groups started debuting in 2018 (or 2019 depending on who you ask, apparently some ppl see 2018 as a transition year which like, eh). so they were a late 3rd gen group, but a third gen group nonetheless. (other 2017 iirc debuts include weki meki, kard, the rose, wanna one, dreamcatcher, golden child for context. all considered 3rd gen groups. the only 2017 debut i can think of that's considered 4th gen is the boyz, but they debuted right at the end of the year, and i feel like they're the group I've seen the most debate about what gen they're in since they're kind of on the cusp anyway so)

Kind of a shame Stross didn’t like tumblr it was nice to have a popular English genre fiction author around who moved to Scotland and writes about a magical world existing behind modern society who, uh,
actually put some gay people in his books instead of retconning them in later and has his characters state that trans people are real and should be respected
