Weekly Recommendation: The book "The True Meaning of Smekday"

Did you see the movie Home by DreamWorks? Did you like the character designs and thought it was mid beyond that? Did you cry during the finale or was that just me? My point is, Home is a gutted version of the book The True Meaning of Smekday. You know how America said Hey Indians, you can live in this tiny part of the land. Wait no we like it there, here, here's another piece. No its nowhere close to your original home, too bad. Yeah what if aliens did that to everyone on earth? Gratuity (Or tip for short) is accidentally left behind during the mass abduction and is forced to team up with the dumbest alien of them all to reunite with her mom. (My boy summoned the worst bad guys in the universe to come visit, right after they blew up the last planet his race lived on. So now Earth is screwed too! Great job, I love my fail son.) A flying car made with parts from a slushie machine, a theme park that turns upside down at night for cleaning, and the original Roswell incident revealed. Also three whole pages of the word meow (I wanted the bit in the movie so bad!!! My disappointment is immeasurable!!!!) Please read this very good book with charming illustrations. The audiobook is also really good, but again the illustrations are great so maybe read along, or just get a copy to flip through so you can see those cool citrus shoes. And pig the cat!

Honestly almost forgot how much I loved reading books. I love the unfathomable amount of joy they give me. I love the little stifled half squeal half scream of delight that blocks my throat for a few moments when a part of the book makes me particularly laugh or smile at a joke or wholesome moment. And when I have to try my best not to let it escape my mouth so I don't screech out loud seemingly out of nowhere like a little kid at a McDonald's playground playing tag.

#Out of curiosity I began reading “The true meaning of Smekday” and the “Smek for President” books and holy cow they're so much fun #Finished the first book in just one and a half or so days. And that's saying something #Haven't read anything that quickly and excitedly since early in middle school probably #Which is kind of sad in a way. If I think about it too much. #Just haven't had much of a drive to read something outside of classes due to time and a lack of interest overall #So so so glad this random rekindling of my interest in the DreamWorks Home stuff introduced me to these books. #They're just oozing with so much charm and wit it's overwhelming. Overwhelming In a good way. #If I ever find one of those books at a thrift/book store I'm snatching it up and basically throwing myself at the checkout counter. #Still working on the second book at the moment. Savoring it a little. #Trying to make it last a little longer and pace myself for once so I don't finish it all at once. #Sorry for rambling. Just can't not express how darn happy these books make me. I haven't been shutting up about them on Quotev recently. #I've probably been a tad annoying in that aspect but it's worth it. I hope they appreciate the random ramblings at least a little.

I was working through some burnout and a cold last week and decided to read The True Meaning Of Smekday after I watched Home and found out it was based on a book!

I loved EVERY second of it — so funny, heartfelt and crazy original with gorgeous illustrations to boot!!

Whispering "the nothings of sweets" 💞 First (or second?) ship drawing of these two! Smek (or currently referred to as DJ Smek) whispers into the exhausted captain's listening pours after a full hour of dancing. The pair had decided to leave, then ride back to earth from the moon. It's unknown of what Smek said, but given by Oh's reaction, it could've been some romantic sayings (and nothing explicit, I hope). Whatever it was said, it made Oh happy. Therefore, it made me happy. 😊💞 > Note: Smek's vest/outfit was inspired by his design from the books, which is why it looks different from it's movie design! ✨️
