Desperate Much?
Tumblr media
Pairings: Ten x Reader.
Theme: fluff, angst, hurt, comfort, family, sad, happy ending. (Life is still going on)
Characters: Ten, Taeyong, Mark, Donghyuck, Jeno.
Word Count: 2k
~~~
Ten wasn't like his 'brothers'. Infact he wasn't ever their brother, he was their cousin. His dad was the one who inherited the family business and had settled with him and his mother in Thailand to branch out.
He had a happy and perfect life with both of his parents, but that was untill they both died unexpectedly in a car accident when he was eleven. And suddenly everything in his life was changing. He had to move to Korea to live with his uncle and his children, his father's buisness was now his uncle's buisness until Ten was old enough to take over. Until he could legally take over. He had to learn a different language, make new friends and start his life all over again in a very dysfunctional family.
He remembered the constant yelling between Mr.Lee and Mrs.Lee, having to sit by himself during those times when Taeyong would take his younger brothers Mark and Jeno and hide in his room, he remembered how Donghyuck would cry under the scrutinizing gaze of Mrs.Lee as she fought with Mr.Lee and the boy was stuck there not able to escape, the loss of the joys of family dinners that he was used to, the loneliness he felt. That was when he met you. You were his only friend in this country and even though he could barely talk to people you tried your best to talk to him despite the language barrier.
You were cheerful and jovial and very very clingy but he didn't mind that. You ate lunch with him and helped him with his Korean. You even made sure to stick by his side with the excuse of him being new here so he wouldn't get lost months after he arrived.
You were a blessing in disguise to him especially since it was so awkward with his cousin Taeyong at home and at school.
Time flew fast and a year had passed and he could speak and write Korean way better than before and lucky for him you were still stuck to his side.
In those trying times you were his only semblance of joy. The times in which Mark wouldn't talk at all, the times in which Taeyong would go around at the ripe age of twelve and hurt people with words so sharp that they would leave the school, when all Jeno did was look upto Taeyong and when Donghyuck started to act out getting himself in trouble so bad that he could have almost lost his life but no one cared.
It hurt Ten to watch all this happen but not being able to do anything about it because no matter how well he got along with the youger two, Taeyong would always pull his brothers away from him and take them to his room and well Donghyuck, he wouldn't talk to anyone at home.
But unfortunately all he could do was get used to this awful life, glad that you would quietly listen to him rant and then lighten his mood up with something silly.
He was mid rant one day when he spoke about how much he missed 'family dinners' that you interrupted him, "Why don't you have a dinner with your cousin's?" Ten scoffed at you and shut that idea down immediately but when he came home and saw how far apart everyone was he decided there and then that's what was needed.
So he forced Mark out of his room and away from his books, he pryed Donghyuck away from his bed, he bribed Taeyong and Jeno just followed his eldest brother and thats how he found himself at the diner table for the first time ever since his parents passed away.
"I used to eat dinner like this with my parents" he spoked but Taeyong glared at him, "I don't care"
"Look you want to be a brat be a brat but at the dinner table all feuds are forgotten and all hatred is gone, food is supposed to be consumed happy"
"What did your parents say that?" Taeyong asked, rolling his eyes.
"Nope y/n did!" Ten said with a cheeky smile, "Now c'mon dig in"
And so there started their first meal together with everyone silently serving themselves, "So we usually talk about our day at the dinner table" Ten smiled his eyes crinkling into two half moons. "I know none of you will say anything so I'll start, Teacher Park yelled at me for correcting him on his Korean today. I was so pissed" Taeyong snorted at that, "Yea that old geezer is weird"
"I know I don't like him either" Donghyuck spoke and Taeyong glared at him but Ten cleared his throat loudly and Taeyong sighed muttering an inaudible apology.
"I placed a fart cushion on his chair today" Donhyuck grinned proudly and collective snorts were heard across the table and Jeno chocked on his food as Taeyong patted the younger boys back. Mark was still eating quietly. Then Donghyuck frowned, "But he didn't like that..." He then put out his hands showing everyones his palms, "So he took me out of the classroom and hit me" Tens heart sank at the red bruises on the boys hands and Taeyong was glaring again but this time it wasn't at Donghyuck, "How dare that old rat hit a seven year old child like that" the eldest growled. But Donghyuck only smiled, "It's okay I'm used to it" he said and Tens heart broke at that statement and by the looks of it so did Taeyongs.
Something shifted between the boys that night and they all knew it. Ten came to school the next day boasting to you about the success of his first family dinner and how excited he was for the next one tomorrow.
He even told you the story Donghyuck had told him not knowing what to do and that very day you got detention for throwing your thick Oxford Dictionary at Mr.Parks face.
Ten still smiles at that memory, a tiny you standing on your bench, yelling out a swear word and launching the book right at the unsuspecting teachers face, nevertheless what you did got the principal's attention. And without making a big deal of it she started an investigation on the teacher.
You chatted excitedly the next day about how exhilarating it was for you to throw a book at that man's face and Ten smiled listening to you talk with animated gestures.
That night he was greeted by the sight of Taeyong silently treating their youngest brothers wounded hands while avoiding the younger boys adoring gaze.
And so life moved forward and Ten had new friends and family here in Korea. And of course you. At this point he wasn't sure if you were his friend or family or both. But you were you.
You were known in school as- The y/n. The y/n who had all of Ten's attention leaving zero for his admirers.
To Ten you were the y/n who made him happy, the y/n who made him laugh, the y/n with a beautiful smile, the y/n who held him as he cried, the y/n who would nag him endlessly when he didn't eat properly, the y/n who would latch pinkies with him and walk everywhere, the y/n who was exceptionally smart and savy.
His life was finally looking up, with you by his side helping him through it all. And slowly he was making new happy memories, like the day he got you all flustered for the first time, or the day Taeyong had put his foot down and finally dragged Donghyuck away from the fighting couple into his room along with Ten, the day he took you to the amusement park you wanted to go to so badly that you kissed his cheek and went running off to the roller coaster, the day Jeno who only looked upto Taeyong had asked him for help, the day he snuck out of the house at night to watch the stars with you, the day Mark spoke at the diner table for the first time, the day you tripped and fell and he got it on camera, the day Taeyong called him his brother, the day of their class picnic and many more.
But there were also bad days like they day he had his first big fight with you or the day Donghyuck had come to him crying and crying without ever telling him why or the day where both the adult Lee's decided to join the family diner and ruined it.
But even those didnt last because his fight with you ended with the two of your crying in each other's arms promising to never have a fight this big again, because the day Donghyuck cried so bitterly that it shook the entire house Taeyong, Mark and Jeno rushed in and it turned into a mini sleepover as they took care of the youngest who soon forgot why he was crying and promised to make sure he only laughs in the future. And the day that Mr. And Mrs. Lee ruined the family diner was the day all five of the boys snuck out to eat marshmallows and chocolate in the park. The initial idea was to make smores but none of them knew how to make a fire and they were all out of crackers.
Those were just a few happy moments with many more to come like the day he asked you out, or the day he and his brothers went camping together, or the day Donghyuck smiled a smile so pure as his eyes shone with genuine happiness or the day Jeno started to think for himself and made friends who were a good influence on him. And the day Mark started dating someone. (Ten genuinely thought by how quite the boy was he would have to force him to talk to people let alone date someone), the day he got his father's company back and the day he proposed to you on the banks of the Han river, under the stars with his family and closest friends there to witness the moment.
"Why are you smiling so big?" your voice interrupted his thoughts and his smiled widened even more at the sight of you. "Did you fart?" You asked him and he chuckled grabbing onto your arm and and pulling you down to sit on his lap, wrapping his arms around your waist. "Nothing I'm just happy"
"Ten Lee I swear to god if you're on drugs then I want a divorce even before I marry you" you scolded playfully and Ten chuckled, "My only drug is you baby" he cooed and you gaged "Eww gross get a room" you said and he deadpanned.
"You're weird you know that y/n?" He asked with a small chuckle.
"Clearly you knew what you were getting into" You smiled, teeth on full display with how wide your grin was.
"Obviously"
"Oh by the way, I handled your little mishap at work today and got a few things you were supposed to do tomorrow scheduled for later and the rest got done today so your free tomorrow the entire day" you said and he smiled at you looking at you so lovingly. He doesn't remember that one moment he realised he was in love with you, maybe there wasn't just one lightbulb moment where her realised he loved you. Maybe he always knew or maybe he gradually figured it out. But that didn't matter all that matters is that he loves you and you love him.
"Ahh what would I do without you?" he asked snuggling into your neck and you chuckled, "Let's never have an answer to that question okay" you said and he nodded, you were right. You were there through evey step of the way after his life turned upside down and he's sure as hell he doesn't want to find out what it would be like without you so Ten grinned placing a small peck on you neck, "I'm gonna take you on the best date of your entire life tomorrow"
"Desperate much?"
"Y/n I'm literally engaged to you!"
Alex was in a brooding mood; he sulked through the office, barely acknowledging you. It shouldn’t have bothered you, but it did, you liked Alex. He was the only person in the office you had a genuine friendship with and now it was gone. You walked into the break room with him and perched against the doorjamb.
“What?” He didn’t look up from his coffee only added more sugar and stir with the black straw.
“I wanted to go have lunch with you if you’re interested?”
“Not interested.”
“What can I do to make you my friend again?”
“Stay away from your boy toy.” He shrugged. “Not for me, I can tell by your behavior you don’t want me, but Cavill is off.”
You blocked him from leaving, holding your arm up in the door. “Have sushi with me? Please? There will be no mention of Cavill, just us talking like we used to?” you ignored pretty much everything he said about Cavill. It was evident that he didn’t like him and, therefore, nothing that he said you can take seriously in regards to him.
“Fine.” He folded after a few moments of thinking. His eyes met yours, and you both smiled broadly.
Yasuka’s SteakHouse was the closest, and you were more than happy for the reunion. “And I talked to Morris about the new campaign, he likes all the ideas. I feel like things are finally going right.”
“You’re doing great.” You sink your teeth into the California roll remembering the slick grief he’d given you about the basic sushi rolls. His plate looked lavish, you didn’t know the names of half the rolls, but you were intrigued.
“How are your projects going?” He asked, picking up the dragon roll and biting into it. He closed his eyes, making the small piece look more delectable than it seemed.
“I want to try.” You said, ignoring his question.
“The Dragon Roll?”
He picked it up and waited on you. “Open your mouth.” He said smoothly.
You obeyed, opening your mouth, and then he placed it on your tongue, and you ate it. It was good; the burst of flavors was balanced just right with the ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce. Your eyes closed as you finished it off and then opened to Alex, he was watching you intensely. “Not bad.”
“You looked like you enjoyed it.” Alex smiled.
“Yes, she did.” Henry’s fingers pinched lightly at your shoulder. “Fancy seeing you two here.”
Those were the words you wanted to say, Henry had a habit of appearing. “Henry.”
“I was having lunch with some colleagues.” He pointed to the table full of executives and shrugged. “Enjoy your lunch, good seeing you, Arnold.”
“Alex.”
“Right.” He said abrasively, he knitted his brows and left without another word.
“Sorry, your boy toy saw that.” Alex teased and finished his last roll.
“It’s fine.” You murmured, but it wasn’t.
 The familiarity to his place was a genuine love of the place. You rarely were at your own home anymore,  you entered Henry’s home and placed your keys on the foyer table. You slipped from your shoes and tucked your keys away in the entryway stand with a smile. You could feel Henry before you saw him. His blue eyes heavy on you, and then tension was thick in the air. It didn’t shock you that Henry was awaiting you. He stood at the steps, shirtless and a stone face. “Took you long enough.” He grumbled.
“Excuse me?” You laughed.
“You don’t listen.”
“Don’t start with me.”
“I plan to start and finish with you.”
Henry lifted you from the ground and tossed you quickly over his broad shoulder. You were headed upstairs. “When was the last time you heard from Olivia?”
He placed you on your feet once you entered the familiar playroom. “Henry.”
“Just answer the question.”
You thought to yourself, it had been a month. You hadn’t heard anything from Olivia, and for once in the little shit show you called a relationship, there were no distractions. “A month.”
“She hasn’t called, you haven’t seen her, she is gone. I asked you to leave Alex alone, I didn’t ask for much.” He paused. “And you broke my rule. You always break my rules, and I take it easy on you. But now I think it’s time I teach you that breaking rules have consequences. Strip out of your clothes.” He said quickly as he turned on his heel. “I’ll be back.”
You walked around the room, every time you were in here you found something new. The various amount of plugs and whips made your head spin. It excited you. You stripped out of your clothes, the blanket of uneasiness settled over you. He seemed pissed, more than the usual.
You waited for him for ten minutes, and when the door opened, the cool breeze wafted the scent of him over to you, and immediately your nipples hardened, anxiously awaiting Henry’s plans for you.
He suspended your arms between two mahogany beams that were nailed to the ground. The leather manacles were secured around your arms and legs. The satin blindfold graced your face, and the small gag kept you from being able to speak.
“I really like seeing you this way?” Henry’s voice came from the right side of your body, but you could hear his steps as they grew closer to you. “We have a good thing going, don’t you think?” Henry’s sultry voice would have been sexy for you had you not been scared out of your mind. This was all new to you.
Your hands struggled against the leather manacle, and you mumbled against the gag in your mouth. “Ple-,” You tapped your ass with a paddle.
The smooth wood ran across the globe of your ass, and then he struck again. “Shut up.” Everything tingled, ached even. His footsteps moved to the right of the room. “You need a lesson.” Henry was back at your ear, his teeth tugging at the flesh of your earlobe. He loosened the gag from your mouth, and a slight moan escaped. “are you ready for it?” Henry removed the gag from your mouth and tapped your face with three fingers. “Y/N.”
“Yes, yes.” You stammered over your words and swallowed.
“Answer my question.” You felt the wind of the blow before the sting of the paddle. Your pussy throbbed, what the fuck was wrong with you. “in a sentence, my love.”
“I’m ready for it, sir.” You rasp. His fingers pushed passed the pillowed lips into your warmth. Then you were empty, aching for him to be back where he was. Moments passed, and then there was a cold liquid dripping down your back. Ice. You swallowed, feeling a chill rake through your body as more ice is added, and you exhale a shaky breath. A cold stream of air is blown over your clit, unexpected yet reeling you attempt to clench your legs together. It didn’t work, the manacle pulled against your skin, and you squirmed just as the old lips latched onto your clit. “Henry.”
He moaned against your clit before his tongue flicked again, and then he moved. He returned a few seconds later with an ice cube pressed to you clit sending a dull pain to your clit. You through your head back and hit the wood. He sucked, and the more he sucked, the colder your clit grew. You throbbed, and he chuckled,
Nothing was funny, the sensations running through your body had you wild. “So sensitive.” He teased and left you there panting and hoping he’d return. This was new. You caught your breath after two minutes, and your heart dropped as you began to wonder where he had gone.
“Henry.” Your voice weak and uncertain echoed, and then there were drips again down your thighs. It was hot and then cooled and hardened. Three seconds pass, and then another one hits your other thigh. You moaned. It felt good, hot, but then comforting. He splashed more, and the riding crop tapped your thighs as well, causing you to cry out. “Oh, fuck.”
“Watch that mouth.” His fingers dipped into your mouth, and you could taste the remnants of your own arousal on them before he kissed you once again. The soft paraffin wax peeled beneath his fingertips, and you relished the sensation.
Henry unshackled your legs and lifted them around his waist. Your wet clit hovered over his cock, and his eyes barred into you. “This fuck is not for you… don’t cum.” And with that, he slammed into you, the fullness itself nearly brought you to cum, but you contained it. He began his motion lifting you up and then back down to sink on his cock. Your hips moved against him because every time he thrust into you, the curved dick tapped your g-spot.
He fucked you wild, taking out all his frustrations on your plush walls, and you just hold on for your life. Your legs clamped around him, causing him to have quick strokes. And each time he pushed against your clit, the friction coaxed an orgasm from you. You bit your tongue thinking of anything to not get you there, but it didn’t work. Your body shook against him, violently as you came. Henry growled in protest as your walls sucked his dick in deeper in desire for more.
“Oh, Oh.” You said with each pump.
Henry dropped you from his waist and his cock hun in front of you, still hard and throbbing. You stared at the veined marvel as he walked over and retrieved the smallest chrome butt plug in the assortment of three. He tapped a button and lowered your arms; you felt the slight relief from it. Henry positioned you so that your ass was out for him. One finger dipped inside of you and curled. You moaned. And then mewled once the cold plug slid into your ass.
Then he slammed into you, the fullness from him and the plug had you blinded. Henry used your body for his pleasure, fucking you so hard the tingles of the orgasm radiated throughout your toes. And it continued throughout the hour, he’d fuck you only making you cum over and over until you were beyond exhausted.
 You were exhausted, arms sore, pussy throbbing, and your voice were near hoarse, but Henry had plans for you. He lowered you into the perfect tempered bath waters, and the smell of the lavender oil hit your nose. “Relax a while, pet.”
When he left, you sunk down, feeling the oil against your skin and melting into the suds that surrounded you. Something was off about him, and you could not place it. He hadn’t set one minute, and even now, you could hear him stirring about in his room. You bathed, listening to music, and then got dressed. It was now silent in the room, and you saw why. The bulk of a man lay stretched out on the bed with his head buried in the pillow. Maybe it was him that needed the real aftercare.
You didn’t bother him, he needed the sleep, and you needed hydration. Things had changed between the two of you, you’d always seen yourself with him, but now it was hard to picture a life without him. The small office next to the master bedroom ever had water stocked, and you could catch up on work. It seemed like you were behind, and no one seemed to care; you knew why, but still, you expected better from yourself. You grabbed the chilled bottled water and headed in with your priorities in line for once.
Tapping the mouse, the screen came up, the white and black film flickered on, and it showed a room. The woman cowered in the corner, the blonde hair shrouded her face, but you could still her. It was Olivia.
“Henry,” She cried. “Let me go. Please.” She stared up at the camera, and her screams started to grow louder, so loud you could damn near swear they were in this house.
You looked up to see Henry standing with his arms folded over his chest. “What are you doing?”
“Working?”
“Looks like you’re snooping through my things.” He mumbled.
“I didn’t see anything.” You swallowed as you lie. “Sleep?” You stood up, but Henry moved towards you quickly. “Henry.”
“Stay seated.” He smiled.
But that was the last thing you wanted, you stepped from behind the desk, and he crowded you, pushing you to the wall. “what did you do to her?”
“Olivia, I am teaching her a lesson…” he said with a shaky breath. “Bad girls learn lessons.” He cleared his throat.  This did not sound like your Henry, his eyes were glazed over, and the wry smile on his lips didn’t give you butterflies just chills. “You’re starting to be bad. You understand?”
“No.” You coughed.
“Yes.” He gripped your shoulders, and your whole body shook. “And since you’re obviously not learning…” He cupped your mouth to muffle the attempted wails that flooded you. His arm wrapped around your neck. You slap at his hands, kicking your feet, but it was pointless. Everything faded to black, and you heard the last words. “I’ll teach you again.”
A Dream In Red Ch 5
A03
Walking into the gates of UA College filled Kirishima with a sense of nostalgia. It had been a number of years since he left UA High, but walking in made it feel like he never left. A pink blur latched onto his shoulder, the bright smile of Mina obscuring his view. Kaminari mimicked her action, hanging off Kirishima’s other shoulder, and Sero wrapped his arms around the group. Bakugou stood off to the side.
“Come on, extras. I don’t want to be late.” He scoffed, but Kirishima caught the ghost of a smile on his lips. The squad walked together to the opening ceremony, filling each other in on their lives in between graduation and now. The group gathered at the back of the ceremony. They were too involved with catching up to pay much attention to the ceremony, but they were able to rally for the cry of ‘Plus Ultra!’ out of pure habit. As the group cheered, Kirishima’s eye was drawn to a girl floating above the crowd. Her hair splayed out around her, shining in the light. It looked like she was laughing as the wind whipped her hair and clothes around her gently. He thought she looked like a doll, especially when the man in the chair next to hers plucked her from the air. She looked so small.
Kirishima lost sight of the girl in the flurry of bodies exiting the gym. Mina tugged him along, Bakugou was already paces ahead of the group. The Bakusquad was first in the room, claiming a group of tables near the back. Kaminari had gotten swept up in looking for cute new girls and walked in much later than the rest of the group. Mina had squealed her delight in the group getting back together, which Bakugou had to complain about. Kirishima could tell that his friend was actually happy to see everyone again, he was just stubbornly holding onto his slowly crumbling walls.
All Might burst into the room, calling the class to be seated and begin. Kirishima watched as his friends filled the closest seats, and then spotted a seat next to the girl. The one he had seen at the opening ceremony. Unfortunately, Kaminari had also seen the open seat and a cute girl. Shooting Kirishima a mischievous smirk, the blonde started to scurry to the seat. Kirishima reached out with the intention of pushing him away, but he had miscalculated his reach and fell.
He briefly scolded Kaminari and apologized to the girl, trying to not to make a fool of himself. Just breathe, he reminded himself, and introduce yourself.
It seemed as if Kirishima wasn’t the only one drawn to Y/N. He watched happily as his whole crew gathered around her. She wasn’t scared of Bakugou, she didn’t hold Kaminari’s flirting against him- or worse, take it seriously. He didn’t want to leave… but he also couldn’t let himself be late for first-day classes. As soon as he mentioned class, Y/N ran from the room.
Kirishima hadn’t noticed he’d been following her a few steps behind until it was too awkward to mention it. He had lost himself in his thoughts, amazed at how quickly this girl slid into his friend group. He couldn’t remember the last time someone had gotten along with them so quickly. Not even any of his exes could sway the entire group.
Then he fell. Literally. On top of the girl. Y/N, he reminded himself. Not just ‘the girl,’ a person of her own, who fascinated him. He was so close and she was laughing all of this misunderstanding off, despite his babbling. Until Fatgum spoke up, of course with a joke. Kirishima saw the glint in his eye and was all too familiar. Kirishima desperately pleaded with Fatgum silently as he spoke with Y/N, but he didn’t relent. He was going to try to be Kirishima’s wingman. This never ended well, Kirishima thought, and the implications froze him in place. He would lose his new friend before they even became close!
And then Tetsutetsu! The traitor! Kirishima was happy to catch up with his other classmate, but he couldn’t say he wasn’t disappointed that he didn’t get to spar with her. In between clashes between Kirishima and Iida, he found himself looking for Y/N. He watched as Y/N pommeled Tetsutetsu with ethereal weapons, but before their conclusion, Iida came at him.
Kirishima felt bold. He had gotten a few good hits on Iida, and he should be down for a while. Y/N had seen him looking for her from Fatgum’s table. He hoped that Fatgum was keeping to himself, and offered a wave before Iida’s leg blocked his view.
The day continued as such, where Kirishima thought he took a step forward with Y/N, but something came in the way. They walked together- with Tetsutetsu- until her ‘friend’ showed up, showering her with affection. Jealousy burned in Kirishima’s stomach and it was an unfamiliar feeling to the redhead.
Then they ate lunch together, but Inasa kept pushing his knowledge of her in Kirishima’s face. She had focused on him though, not Inasa, and her eyes fell onto his friends, not Inasa. Until you rushed out of the room, struggling to breathe. He pleaded with the universe to let this day get easier. He just wanted to know her!
And then she admitted to reading their minds; feeling their feelings, and Kirishima’s blood ran cold in his veins. She had felt his jealousy, and he knew he didn’t have a valid reason for it. He just wanted to be close to her. So he was honest, and she was holding his hand. He was startled at this, pulling away and regretting it immediately.
He decided: Being honest had broken the weird mood today, so he would keep it going. Kirishima grabbed her by the hand and started walking with her. She didn’t pull away, so he held on.
He watched her laugh, and it warmed him. The joy coursing through his veins kept bubbling up and spilled from his mouth. He realized he wanted to see her laugh more, and he wanted to make her laugh.
He had a plan now. He was going to take her to the crepe shop. He was going to get to know her, he was going to be her best friend. That’s why he was feeling this way, right? He knew what crushes felt like, it was too soon for love, and this wasn’t just lust. So for some reason, the universe was calling out to him, telling him he had to be important to her because she would be important to him.
As they sat in the field, he watched her stargaze. With the stars reflecting in her eyes, he realized something that scared him.
He had never felt this way before.
Inasa was excited. Today, he would be reunited with Y/N. He had kept it a secret that he was attending the same college as his close friend, hoping the surprise would lift her spirits. Butterflies terrorized his stomach as he waited outside of the dorm area. Y/N’s nervous butterfly spurred on the butterflies inside him, he felt electrified. He hadn’t seen her in so long, it was overwhelming. In an effort to banish his own butterflies, he scattered hers to the wind.
The combination of being so close to her and being at UA made him feel like he was flying. He couldn’t resist lifting her up, trying to make her feel a fraction of how he felt. Then she was in his arm and he felt so right. He had the urge to pull her close, to feel her lips against his!
But could he? Or would he lose his closest friend? He pulled away, not wanting to spoil what he had until he could answer those questions. He satisfied himself with being this close, for now. And then she was off, barely able to say goodbye.
Only a few hours had passed, but the next time he saw her, she was flanked by guys he didn’t know. The adoration in their eyes bothered him, and he wasn’t sure why. Unable to resist, he once again pulled her into the sky, relishing the panic on the faces of the guys beside her. He pulled her to him, and his heart lit up when she effortlessly wrapped her arms around him, and he could see the dismay in the eyes of the other two.
After realizing that one of them already knew him from a time he was not proud of, he was once again in awe of his friend as she so simply calmed his fears. As she commonly does, she lost herself to her own mind, an interesting thing for a mind reader to do, so Inasa leads her along. He didn’t mind that she didn’t seem to realize the line was moving, or that she was up to order food. The redheaded boy leading her away made him a bit sad, but he had his hands full with her favorites.
She doled out her affection to him alone, and although he knew it was out of sheer familiarity. Although she was focused on the people around her, he convinced himself it was just because they were new. Once the novelty wore off, he would still be there.
Inasa wanted to chase after Y/N, but he knew she would be upset if he skipped his classes today. He left her in the care of the redhead. Despite his feelings toward the man, Inasa knew he wouldn’t let her get hurt.
He saw her after his classes ended. He was flattered at how many people wanted to know about him, some were even touching his arm as his best friend does. But The Redhead, he was holding her hand. He was holding her hand and she was walking off with him. Inasa knew she was allowed to have friends other than him, but why did it hurt so bad?
He would admit, he probably went a little overboard. He didn’t remember how many times he had called. Was she safe? Would she be mad that he called so many times?
Inasa wished she would just answer. He had sat in his dorm room for the past few hours, the dinner he had made for the both of them long gone cold. His head was in his hands, he had to try to resist calling just one more time.
Luckily for him, his phone rang first. He answered on the first ring. She wasn’t mad. She was safe, she was happy, and he was conflicted. She was proving she could be happy without him.
That was how he felt until she told him he wouldn’t be replaced. He knew then for sure, she was the most precious thing in his life.
Can I get 33 (please don’t cry) for cori and gage please? I kinda want to be ripped apart lmfao
Hi nonny! Thank you for your patience!
For the Angst/Fluff Prompts!
Alone
The Sentry botcame out of just fuckin’ nowhere.
They’d seen a scrapyard marked on an old map and had headed out to scout the place. Quiet day, forthe most part. They set out in the morning, ate lunch, and joked about thegangs, but when it seemed like they might be getting close, he heard it.
“Alert: hostiledetected.” The voice rumbled through them. Cori stopped dead in her tracks. “Lethalforce authorized for all units.”
(Continued under the cut!)
Shit shit shit.How the hell did he miss that? Those things were two tons of bullets and rage;the ground shook as it rolled towards them, guns whirring and warming up. They’djust been talking and she’d said something ridiculous and—
Didn’t matter.They hadn’t noticed the bot, but it sure as hell noticed them. And they wereout in the open.
Gage cocked hisgun, whipped around, and just barely managed to shove them to the ground rightas the spray of bullets whizzed overhead. Like something out of an old-worldcomic book. He rolled them both to the side. More bullets kicked up dust asthey buried in the ground where his head had been, and with the first reel ofbullets embedded in the dirt, the sentry took a second to reload. Cori tumbledoff him, breathing hard. He snapped up and shot the bot as many times as he couldmanage, but it didn’t even seem to notice him.
As it took aim,Corinne scrambled to her feet and charged. Dropped her backpack, grit herteeth, and just fuckin’ launched herself at it.
Gage fumbledreloading but he had cover, since the bot had turned its attention to the pint-sizedblonde charging right for it. She was gonna get shot. It was gonna fill her sofull of holes she’d look like one of those paper targets at the NukaCade and healmost dropped his shotgun , shaking in his boots. And then the whirringstopped. The sentry had reloaded and Cori hadn’t even reached it yet. It wasgoing to rip her in fucking half.
“Hey!” He raisedhis gun and rattled off a shot. Anything to keep it from locking in on her.
The botre-assessed. Cori was closing in, but Gage had a gun. The gears in its headwere turning. His feet moved under him but it was like slogging through sand. Shewas already almost there, still running when the barrel of the sentry’s mingunstarted spinning again. There was no fucking way the bot would miss at thisdistance, and he couldn’t get there fast enough to stop it from happening. Gageshot it again, right in its glowing red eye.
Pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop
Dirt sprayed uparound his ankles, kicking up dust as the bullets pinged off the ground aroundhim. He barely avoided the spray, but he had a better chance than she did. Whatevershe had planned, they couldn’t afford for it to retarget. He sprinted in a widearc so that the bot was constantly spinning and aiming away from Cori.
When he managed toglance at her, he watched her plant a boot on one of its legs, rocketing up tolatch onto a massive arm. The arm that wasn’t actively shooting.
The sentrycaught on quick and whipped her around, jerking its arm up fast and then tryingto pitch her to the ground. Gripping tight, she only barely managed to keepherself up. At least she’d distracted it enough where it had stopped shooting. Therewas an opening.
Fuckin’ stupid—thewhole thing was just fuckin’ stupid. But she’d done worse, so he followed herlead and hoped for the best.
Two more shotsto its head managed to get its attention for just long enough; Cori clambereddown its arm and set a foot onto the base of one leg for balance. When itstarted to turn, Gage ran it back so she didn’t get thrown fifty feet in theair. The sentry reloaded, the telltale whirring, but then it got closer,lurching at him so fast it closed the gap in seconds.
He couldn’t seeCori now. She was either on the thing’s back or on the ground, but either way,the sentry was in his fuckin’ lap and when it lashed out with one arm, itknocked the breath out of him and slammed his head back hard. He opened hiseyes and found himself looking up at the clouds.
The sentryrolled forward and aimed the other arm down while the minigun reloaded. When itdid, Gage got a good look at the weapon its right arm was packing.
A rocket launcher.
Loading up. Itlocked in on him. He heard it hiss, steam rising up and the hot mechanical smellof overwrought belts and gears. Aimed right for his fucking teeth, no chance ofmissing. And with a rocket? They’d be finding chunks of him all over the parks.
Then, the botslumped. The lights on its head and chasiss went dark. The arm with the rocketlauncher dropped, landing between his boots and hitting the dirt so hard itshook the earth under him and rattled his brain around in his skull. And thenthere was Cori, holding a fusion core in each hand.
She stumbled outfrom behind the hulking mass of metal, spotted him lying flat on his backsweating bullets, and just about crumpled to her knees. Hit the ground, droppedeverything, and just stayed there.
“Hey, Princess.”
She didn’t move.
Gage pushedhimself up into a sitting position and gave her a second, but when she didn’tso much as twitch, he crawled over to her on all fours.
“Corinne, hey. Youalright?” He knelt next to her, not trusting his legs just yet. Close-up, hecould see that she was shaking all over. “Listen, you did it. You shut it down.We can head out now.”
Her head snappedup at that. Eyes watering. Lip quivering.
Oh no.
“C’mon now, it’salright.”
He was fightinga losing battle.
“Shh. It’s donenow. We’re fine.”
The first few tearsleaked down her face, clearing away streaks of dirt and rolling off her chin. Shesucked in a stuttering breath.
“Aww, Cori.” Hewas running out of shit to say. A little desperate, he mumbled “please don’tcry.”
That did it. Nostopping now. The sound she made in response was fucking horrible—something likea laugh drowning in a lake, burbling up before she choked, gasping so hard herchest heaved. Each little wheeze came quicker than the last until she was hyperventilating,hands on her knees and hair spilling out of the braid on the back of her head.
He probably said“hey” about eight more times, because what in the hell else could he say rightnow? Couldn’t figure out what to say next, so he just kept starting over andover, hoping something would come to mind. He pat her hair. She leaned into hispalm, so he sat on the ground beside her and let her melt into his side. And then,shrinking, she edged half into his lap, her head on his shoulder and her legstucked under her.
Took her a whileto calm down after that, and even longer to start breathing like normal again, butthe crying finally petered out.
“You. Uh. Youalright, there?”
Her head jerkedup like she had forgotten where she was and managed to be surprised to see him.
“Yeah.” Hervoice was hoarse.
“You sure?” Heasked. “That was pretty—”
“I’m fine.”
No, she sure ashell was not. Not after that fucking meltdown, she wasn’t. And the smarter partof his brain made a damn compelling argument for letting the whole thing go, becauseif she didn’t want to talk about it, who was he to make her? But his mouth wasalready moving.
“Look, Boss. Iget it. It was real surprising and all—”
“You could havedied, Gage.”
Yeah he couldhave, but he’d really rather not think on it too much right now.
“I didn’t though,so we’re fine.”
“I would havebeen alone again.” Her tone was flat and that was when he realized that sheprobably wasn’t even talking to him. Not really. And he wondered again; what inthe hell did she go through to land herself on his doorstep? Who had she beenbefore NukaWorld? Who’d left her behind?
“Well,” hestarted. “I’m still here and so are you.”
She swallowed,lips pressed tight together before she managed to reel herself back undercontrol. Maybe she muttered something in response, but he didn’t hear thewords. Her head bent until her face was buried in the space between his neckand his shoulder. Loose hairs tickled his bicep and the cool trickle of her breathraised goosebumps over his skin.
“You are.”
The relief in her voice. Before he thoughtbetter of it, he reached down and held one of her hands, squeezed her fingerstight. Wherever she’d been, she wasn’t alone now.
March- A Taste of Love (Carolina-Bleus)
Michonne sighed in frustration as she looked at her computer. There had to be some other options, she thought to herself.
“Hey, you wanna go grab some lunch? I’m starving. I started that juice fast this morning but caved by nine and ate a mini-snickers I found in the bottom of my purse. Michonne? Are you even listening to me?”
“What?” Michonne looked up to see Andrea standing in her office doorway.
“I asked if you wanted to go out to lunch.”
“I thought you were doing the juice cleanse?”
Andrea rolled her eyes. “You didn’t hear a word I said. But I’m not surprised; you look like you are about to jump into that computer screen. Are you working on a case?”
Michonne sat back in her chair. “No, I was actually looking for something personal.”
Andrea’s eyes lit up. “You’re looking for a vibrator online at work? I didn’t know you had it in you…or I guess you will have it in you soon,” Andrea said with a laugh.
“Will you be quiet!” Michonne whispered harshly as she got up, pulled Andrea inside and shut her office door. “No, I’m not looking for that. I was looking for some couple’s activities.”
“Couple’s activities? Like swinging?” Andrea’s eyes lit up once again. “I didn’t think you or Rick would be into that.”
Michonne rubbed her temples as she walked back to her desk. “Andrea, I know he’s your boyfriend, but you really have to quit hanging around Shane so much. I’m looking for some fun things that Rick and I can do together…clothed and in an upright position.”
“Well—“ Andrea began.
“If you mention one more thing about sex, I’m kicking you out of my office.”
“I wasn’t,” Andrea said affronted. She laughed when Michonne side-eyed her. “Okay, I was. But I do have some actual ideas. What are you looking to do?”
“I don’t know.” Michonne shrugged. “Something different and a little outside of the box for both of us; something where we just have to slow down and just be together for a while. Rick and I have been so busy lately with our jobs, moving to a new house and town, and getting the kids settled, that I feel like we haven’t spent as much time together as we normally do.”
Michonne and Rick Grimes had been married for three years. They’d each brought children from previous marriages into their relationship. The blended family of five welcomed their newest addition, Ava, eleven months ago. It was the birth of Ava that prompted the Grimes family’s move from Atlanta and to Rick’s hometown about an hour outside of the city. Rick and Michonne were both from small towns and they wanted their kids to have the same experience of growing up in a close-knit community surrounded by family and friends. They’d packed up and moved in July so the kids could finish out the school year and spend part of the summer with their old friends. It’d taken almost the entire eight months since the move to really feel settled into everything. But everything finally clicked into place. Rick’s hometown now felt like the entire family’s hometown.
The family spent a lot of time together during the late summer weekends when they first moved. There wasn’t the distraction of the kids having a million activities to do on the weekends as they did in Atlanta. The quality time brought them even closer together as a family. But now the kids were thriving in school and making new friends and their weekends were once again filled with activities involving friends and school. Even little Ava’s social calendar was full of family members and close friends wanting to babysit her. Rick and Michonne finally had time to take just for themselves and Michonne wanted to make the most of it. The question was how?
“I told you not to move out to the sticks. Atlanta has everything fun, including your best friend.”
Michonne raised a brow. “Andrea, I see you at work every day and I’ve seen you ‘out in the sticks’ at my house a lot since I moved.”
“Hanging out at work isn’t the same as living in the same city. As for hanging out in Hooterville—“
“Senoia.” Andrea knew how much it annoyed Michonne when she called her town by other names. Michonne suspected that’s exactly why she did it.
“As for hanging out in Petticoat Junction on the weekends,” Andrea continued as if she hadn’t been interrupted, “well, I guess that’s the benefit of us falling in love with country ass best friends.”
Andrea and Shane met one weekend when he’d come to Atlanta to visit Rick. It had been early in Rick and Michonne’s relationship and Shane wanted to meet the woman who’d made his best friend smile again. The couple held a cookout at Michonne’s house where Andrea and Shane locked in on each other even before they were introduced. It had been lust at first sight that eventually, after a few hiccups and several breakups, turned into a serious relationship…albeit a tempestuous one at times…about a year ago.
Ignoring the continued insult to her town, Michonne latched onto some new information. “Did you just admit that you love Shane?”
“Yeah.” Andrea looked a bit dismayed by her admission. “But don’t tell him I said it, it’ll make his big ass ego even bigger.”
“Y’all have been dating exclusively for nearly a year. Don’t you think he’s figured it out by now?”
“I guess but we still have a long way to go. But enough about that.” Andrea paused a moment. “I think I have the perfect idea for a date night for you and Rick. But, fair warning, you are going to have to actually travel to the big city after dark for it.”
“So very funny…what’s your idea?”
Saturday night…
Rick shook his head at his wife. “Michonne, I can’t believe you took dating advice from Andrea of all people. She and Shane aren’t like us. Their idea of a good time involves freaky stuff.”
“And how would you know?”
“The same way you do…Andrea and Shane don’t have a filter or a sense of shame.”
“They do spill all of the dirty details.” Michonne shuddered thinking about some of things Andrea had told her about what went on with Shane in the bedroom. Some things just couldn’t be scrubbed from the brain.
“Exactly! So you should know better than anyone than to think her idea of a good date night is the same as ours.”
“Rick, calm down. It’s a couples cooking class, not a swingers convention. Look around at the class. Do any of these people look like they’d be into that?”
Rick surveyed the other couples in the class. They all looked relatively normal…except for the guy who was wearing cargo shorts and a mullet. But still…
“Looks can be deceiving, Michonne. If Andrea suggested this class, chances are someone might end up naked on that counter over there with a carrot up their—“
“Welcome to Couples Cooking!” A bespectacled young woman mercifully interrupted Rick’s words. “My name is Olivia. And I’m so glad you all came out tonight.” Olivia looked at the couples and then down at a sheet of paper. “Oh, I see we have four couples present but we should have a full class of five.”
At that moment, voices were heard from the hallway.
“Speed it up, Shane! You always make us late wherever we go!”
“Beauty can’t be rushed, woman. I’ve told you that. And we ain’t that late. Besides, I don’t even know why you signed us up for this chi-chi frou frou shit anyway. If you want some good cooking, we can just go to my mama’s house. You know Trubie always puts her foot in it.”
Rick gave Michonne a look. She just shrugged her shoulders apologetically and mouthed “Sorry.”
Andrea and Shane made their way into the classroom.
“Hello!” the instructor greeted. “My name is Olivia. Why don’t you two find a spot and we can begin.”
Michonne heard Rick muttering “Please don’t come over here” over and over under his breath.
Rick loved Shane and had a relatively good friendship with Andrea. He was fine dealing with them individually, dealing with them together was a different story. Though the couple’s antics were entertaining at times, a little went a very long way.
Of course, Andrea and Shane walked over to the table beside the Rick and Michonne as soon as they spotted them. Andrea gave Michonne a quick hug while Shane clapped Rick on the back.
“Your girl roped you into this, too, Rick? The things we do for our ladies, right?” Shane laughed. Rick just continued to stare at Michonne until Olivia started speaking again.
“Now, that we are all here, I’d like to again, welcome you all. Cooking is something that is not only useful to nourish our bodies, but it can also serve to nourish our relationships. It allows us to work together to create something beautiful. Or, individually, we can use it as an expression of caring for another. It can help us to say “I love you” or “I’m sorry” and everything in between. Food just seems to taste better when it’s made with or by a loved one. The love flows through every bite. That is exactly what we are going to do tonight. We are going to make love on a plate.”
There was a beat of shocked silence after Olivia spoke. Then Shane barked out a laugh, the other couples started murmuring, and Rick gave Michonne an “I told you so” look. Olivia, for her part, was horrified. The last sentence had sounded better when she said it in her head. Cheeks aflame, she rushed on to finish her speech.
“Umm, each couple is going to make your own dinner from appetizer to dessert and then have time alone to share what you worked so hard to make and just enjoy quiet time together.” Pride recovered, Olivia smiled and clapped her hands together in delight. “Tonight’s theme is Rustic Romance. But before I tell you more, I want to go around the room and have everyone introduce themselves and tell us why you signed up for the class.”
Olivia’s words were met by a collective groan from the introverts in the room, including Rick. Michonne rubbed his back reassuringly. “I got this,” she told him.
“Well, I guess we’ll go first.” A petite blond man and his curly-haired partner, who both looked like they’d stepped out of the pages of an LL Bean catalogue, stood up from their table. “My name is Eric. This is my husband, Aaron. I signed us up because Aaron travels a lot for his job and eats a lot of room service. Once he comes home, it seems as if he’s both forgotten how the stove works and that I’m his husband and not part of a hotel dining staff.” Eric smiled at Aaron and grabbed his hand.  “I want us to share more in the cooking.”
“My name is Aaron and I have no good defense for what Eric said because it’s all sadly true,” he said with a laugh. “But I’m glad to be here because I want us to spend the time we do have together doing as much together as possible.”
A brunette and her partner stood up next. “Hey. My name is Maggie. This is my boyfriend, Glenn. I guess we have the opposite problem of Eric and Aaron. Glenn loves to cook. He cooks all the time. But it’s always the same thing…pizza. I love pizza or at least I did when we started dating.” Maggie turned to Glenn. “I love that you are so enthusiastic about cooking, I just need you learn to make something that doesn’t have tomato sauce, bread, and cheese as a base. I’ve gained ten pounds since we’ve been dating, Glenn.”
Maggie’s boyfriend grinned sheepishly at her words. “Hi, everyone. Well, I do love pizza…a lot. I mean I own a chain of pizzerias I love it so much. They are called Rhee’s Roundhouse if you want to stop by. Mention this class and I’ll give you a pie for half off.”
“Glenn…”
“Sorry, babe. I’m here because I love Maggie and I’ll do whatever it takes to make her happy…even cooking something that isn’t pizza. Though, for what it’s worth, I couldn’t even tell that she gained weight. She just looks more beautiful to me with each passing day.”
“Oh, you are definitely gettin’ some tonight, man!”
“Shut up, Shane,” Andrea said harshly, embarrassed.
A redheaded guy and the mullet man Rick had spotted earlier stood up next.
“My name is Abraham,” the redhead began. “This is Eugene. Uh, we aren’t a couple-couple like Eric and Aaron over there.” Abe turned and pointed to the couple. “No offense intended, love is love. I actually caught a couple of episodes of that drag racing show with my ex. I know I’ve gotten Big Red caught in the metal menace a couple of times when I’ve zipped up too fast, so I applaud the intestinal fortitude it takes to tuck the ole twig and berries like those ladies do. So, nothing but respect from this corner.” Abe ended his speech to Aaron and Eric with a sideways peace sign which the couple hesitantly returned, not sure what exactly was going on at the moment.
Abe continued. “As I was saying, uh, my name is Abraham but you can call me Abe. I’m here with my friend, Eugene, cause apparently my ex signed me and her up for this class before she decided to up and leave me for a senator’s pretty boy son last week.” Abe paused and worked his jaw for a moment. “She did all of the cooking so I figured I’d better use this opportunity to learn at least one dish that doesn’t involve baked beans and hot dogs…cause I’m gettin’ real sick of both.”
“My name is Eugene Porter. I’m here for moral support and because Abe promised to go to a local comic con in costume with me if I came here. I’m thinking about having him go as Wolverine since he has the sideburns and white tank tops for it, but we’ll have to dye his hair, shave the mustache, contour some abs—“
“Shut it, Eugene,” Abe interrupted.
Andrea and Shane spoke next. “Hi, my name is Andrea. I signed my boyfriend, Shane, and myself up because—“
“Because she wanted to know if I can bring that heat somewhere other than the bedroom. And the answer is, of course, yes.”
Andrea took a deep breath before continuing. “I actually signed us up, hoping this would be an opportunity for you to learn how to listen and follow directions…any type of directions. Now, I’m just hoping we make it out of this without me cutting you.”
“Oh, dear,” an alarmed Olivia muttered. “Why don’t we move on to our final couple for introductions.”
Michonne and Rick stood. “My name is Michonne. This handsome man right here is my husband Rick.” Michonne smiled at Rick’s blush. “I signed us up because our lives have been really busy and in flux for the last year or so. We are finally to a place where things are settling down and I realize we’ve been busy making time for everyone else and not so much for each other. I thought this would be a fun night that would be just about the two of us as husband and wife and not as mama and daddy or any other roles we have.”
After hearing Michonne’s reasoning, Rick felt bad for complaining earlier. “I’m Rick. My wife really doesn’t ask for much, but even if she did, whatever she wants, I’m going to make sure she gets. I have to admit that I complained…a lot…about coming here tonight.” Rick turned to Michonne with an apologetic smile on his face. “And I’m sorry for that because after all you’ve done to make me happy, coming to a cooking class is the least I can do.”
Olivia smiled at the couple. “Well, thank you all for introducing yourselves.” Olivia looked at Abe, Eugene, Shane, and Andrea. Well not all of you, she thought. “As I said, our theme for the night is Rustic Romance. You are going to be making dishes that are everything a good relationship, be it romantic or platonic, should be…comforting and familiar but also open to a little positive change every now and again. The dishes that we are going to make tonight are classics but with a bit of a twist. In honor of the changing seasons, our dishes tonight all have a taste of Spring.”
Olivia waited for the excited murmuring to begin. It didn’t so she soldiered on. “We are starting out with a delicious salad of grilled stone fruit, arugula, radicchio, country ham, and burrata cheese. Then we’ll move on to our main dish, roasted Dijon chicken with a mélange of spring vegetables.”
“What the fuck is a ‘mélange’?” Michonne heard Shane whisper to Andrea.
“Finally, we’ll have lemon yogurt crumb cake for dessert. We’ll actually prep dessert first because it takes the longest overall from start to finish. Then we’ll work on your main. You’ll prepare your salad right before it’s time for dinner to begin.” Olivia held up some sheets of paper. “You all have recipe directions at your stations. Please read over everything and then we’ll get started. I’ll do a little knife skills and safety demonstration and then you can go forth and cook. I’ll walk around and make sure everyone is okay.”
Michonne picked up one set of instructions and handed another to Rick. “You read the main, I read the dessert, and we’ll read the salad together?” she asked.
“Sounds like a plan.”
A look around the room was a good indication of how all the individuals communicated as couples. Eric was playfully trying to distract Aaron while he read the instructions. Maggie rested her head on Glenn’s shoulder while the couple read over the instructions together. Abraham was busy trying to strategize their meal prep while Eugene pointed out every flaw in his plan. Shane and Andrea were arguing about something that happened last week. While Rick and Michonne were comparing notes about their recipes and dividing their tasks based on skill and comfort level.
After Olivia’s demonstration, the couples washed their hands and began making their meals.
Lemon-Yogurt Crumb Cake
“Okay, the oven is preheating. You want to start with the crumb topping?”
“I guess.” Rick picked up the directions for the cake. “There weren’t this many directions to put Ava’s crib together.”
Michonne laughed. “Yes, there were and you put that together perfectly. We’ll do the same with this cake.”
Rick and Michonne stirred, beat, zested, and folded ingredients together until they were down to the last couple of steps for the cake.
“Here, taste some of this.” Michonne held a spoon full of lemon curd up to Rick’s lips.
“Mm, that’s delicious. It reminds me of Mama’s lemon meringue pie.”
“You have a little bit right here…” Michonne leaned over and wiped a small bit of curd off of Rick’s bottom lip with her index finger. She then licked the curd from her finger while Rick watched enthralled.
“Are you trying to start something we can’t finish right now, Mrs. Grimes?”
Michonne smiled slyly. “I have no idea what you are talking about Mr. Grimes. I just wanted to taste the curd, too.” She dropped dollops of the tangy mixture in different spots over the batter. “I’m glad it was already made for us. Now we just have to swirl it with a knife. You want to do the honors?”
“No, you’ve always handled a knife better than I do.”
Michonne scoffed as she began swirling the curd. “Please, I’ve seen you gut things with pinpoint accuracy. You can handle yourself with a knife just fine when necessary.”
Rick sprinkled the crumb topping over the batter. He placed the dish in the oven and set the timer for 50 minutes.
Roasted Dijon Chicken with Spring Vegetables
Making their main dish of roasted chicken and vegetables was much more relaxed for the entire class. Olivia thought it was because people were getting more confident in cooking as the class progressed. Really, it was because they were all taking furtive sips from the bottles of white wine each couple received as an ingredient for their dish. The recipe only called for half a glass of wine so the rest was fair game in their opinion.
The wine was doing almost too good of a job relaxing people. Rick’s accent steadily got heavier and he kept reminding Michonne to season the chicken’s “wangs”…which got a repeated chuckle out of Shane. Andrea accidentally squirted Shane in the eye when she squeezed juice out of a lemon…at least she said it was an accident. The incident did occur right after Shane made a lewd comment about massaging their meat. Which was an actual thing they had to do in order to coat their chicken with the Dijon sauce…but Shane was just being crass and he wasn’t even drunk. Glenn got really tipsy and ended up sipping out of the glass that held the leftover chicken stock. It was good so he just went with it. Aaron started entertaining everyone with random, but amazingly spot on, impressions of Hollywood stars past and present. And Eugene…well…
“Medical attention is required at station three! I repeat medical attention is required at station three STAT! We got a bleeder!” Abraham suddenly yelled out startling everyone. Eugene had managed to cut himself with a vegetable peeler while prepping some carrots.
Rick and Michonne watched as Olivia rushed over to Eugene with first aid kit in hand. “Maybe she should have rationed out the wine to just what we needed for the recipe,” Michonne said as she took another sip from measuring cup of wine she and Rick were sharing.
“Probably.” Rick reached for the cup and drained it. “You wanna refill?”
“Of course,” Michonne nodded as she continued drawing cats in some spilled flour.
Sobriety Check
Once she was hip to their drinking and sensing that the couples were getting dangerously close to not being able to cook safely, Olivia decided to have a little impromptu intermission after the chickens were placed in the oven.
“Everyone is doing an amazing job! Why don’t we take a quick break and enjoy some little bites I put together. We have grapes, cheese, dried apricots, figs, bread, crackers, and water. Eat up…especially the bread…and have a drink of refreshing water.” The group dove into the food but much to Olivia’s chagrin, they ignored the water for the most part for more wine. She just hoped the food would help sober them up enough to not burn down the kitchen.
“How are the kids?” Rick asked as soon as Michonne came back over to their station. She’d stepped out to check on their children.
“Fine. Carl’s movie just got out. Duane’s dad was already outside waiting to pick them up and take them back to his house for the night. According to your parents, Dre and Judy came home from the birthday party seriously hyped up on sugar but they crashed about an hour later and have been asleep ever since. Ava, on the other hand, has been an absolute angel and your parents are threatening not to return her to us tomorrow.”
Rick chuckled. “Wait until she’s cranky and won’t sleep or has smelly stuff coming out of both ends, they’ll want to act on that return policy with a quickness.”
“I think they’re just glad to finally have all of their children and grandchildren in the same town again.”
“Honestly, it’s good to be back home. You’d think just living an hour away wouldn’t be that big of a deal, but sometimes home felt lightyears away…especially after Lori died.” Rick’s first wife, Lori, had passed away six years prior after a sudden, devastating illness. Rick’s whole world shifted in what seemed like an instant. It felt like he’d woken up in an awful dream that he couldn’t escape. The only thing that kept him together was knowing that his kids needed him to be strong for them. But he’d just been existing and not really living until one magical day.
Michonne spread some brie on a cracker and topped it with a bit of dried apricot before handing it to Rick. “I’ve always wondered why you didn’t just pack and move back home with the kids.”
Rick smiled his thanks to Michonne’s for the snack. “I thought about it a lot in those first couple of years and Mama was always asking me to come back home but something kept telling me it wasn’t the right time. It’s like I was waiting for something…” Rick captured Michonne’s hand in his own. “Or waiting for someone.”
Grilled Stone Fruit Salad
Satisfied that everyone was mostly sober again, Olivia decided to resume the evening. “Everyone, your cakes are out of the oven and the chicken and vegetables are almost done. We’ve reached the last dish you’ll prepare tonight, the grilled stone fruit salad. This dish should come together fairly quickly, so once you’ve grilled your fruit and done the other prep, you can go outside to the patio and find your private tables. The salad will be assembled for you and dinner will be served to you by our amazing waitstaff. Once again, thank you all for coming!”
Shane stood up from his station. “Hold up, I know we are getting more than just a damn plate of food! You had us working harder than a one-legged man in an ass kicking contest making this food. We better get some doggie bags or something.”
Olivia wanted to claim a bottle of wine for herself after dealing with this man all evening. “Mr. Walsh, the brochure states that the rest of your meal will be boxed up and given to you at the end of the evening.”
Andrea pulled Shane back down to his seat. “I gave you the brochure on the way over here. Didn’t you read it?”
“I already told you, I don’t read…I live.”
Andrea crossed her arms. “Then why do you have all of those car magazines at your house?”
“Well, if you’d bother to peek inside of one while you were snooping, you’d see it sure as hell ain’t for the articles.”
The couple continued to bicker back and forth while everyone else went about preparing the ingredients for the salad. But the argument was seemingly over as quickly as it began. When the other couples came back from grilling their fruit, they saw that Shane and Andrea had disappeared. Their whereabouts were discovered after a yelling was heard in the hallway. Everyone ran out and saw Eugene holding a hand over one eye, a shirtless Shane calling him a pervert, and Andrea straightening her clothes. Apparently, Shane and Andrea had slipped away to do some early making up in a storeroom and Eugene came upon them. He didn’t make his presence known until Andrea looked up and saw his face and mullet peeking from behind containers of flour.
Rick looked at Michonne and said, “This is why we don’t go out on double dates with them anymore.”
Dinner is (Finally) Served
Excitement over, Rick and Michonne walked out to where they were to share their meal. It was beautiful outdoor dining space. The tables were set around the grounds a fair distance apart to give the feeling of privacy. The simple décor of the tables was in direct contrast to the chandeliers that hung in the trees above. The entire effect was soft, intimate, and, true to the evening’s them of rustic romance.
Michonne looked around after Rick pushed her chair in. “You know what this reminds me of?”
“I certainly do.” Rick smiled as he took his own seat. “Our wedding.”
Rick and Michonne’s romance was the stuff of modern day fairytales. Their eyes met across a crowded room…actually a crowded playground where their kids were playing…and it was love at first sight. They’d each been hesitant to act on their feelings because they had both become single fairly very recently…Rick as a widower and Michonne as a divorcee…and they wanted to be sure loneliness and loss weren’t influencing their emotions.  But every time they saw each other at the playground, it became harder and harder to walk away without saying something…doing something. Until, finally, their kids took the decision out of their hands.
Four years ago…
“Daddy! Daddy, meet my best friend, Andre!”
Rick looked up from his phone to see four-year-old Judith running towards him holding the hand of a little boy who looked to be her age. He recognized him instantly.
“Well, how do you do, Mr. Andre?” Rick bent down and held out his hand to greet the little boy.
Andre shook his hand with a giggle. “Good.”
“These big kids didn’t want to share the swing and they made me cry and Andre yelled at them and now he’s my best friend forever.”
Rick stood up and looked around. He made sure to always watch both Judith and Carl while they played. And Carl always stuck close to his younger sister as well. Today, Carl was at a friend’s house, so it was just Judith and Rick. He’d only put his head down briefly to read some texts from family and friends back home. They kept urging him to come back, especially his mother…who really wanted him to move back to their hometown with the kids…but he wasn’t ready for that yet.
“When did this happen, Judy?” Rick asked looking back at Judith.
Judith shrugged. “I don’t know, Daddy. A little bit ago.” She started swinging hands with Andre. “Can we go get cheeseburgers and milkshakes, Daddy?” Andre’s eyes lit up at the idea.
“Well, Mr. Andre, you do deserve a thank you for protecting my little girl. But where is your mother? She—“
Before Rick could complete his thought, he heard a voice yell out, “ANDRE! ANDRE ANTHONY!”
Michonne raced through the playground looking frantic until she came upon her son. She let out a breath at seeing that he was safe.
“Andre, you can’t just run off like that!”
Andre ran over to his mother. “I’m sorry, Mama.”
Michonne bent down to hug her son. Satisfied that he was okay, she finally looked up and noticed Judith…and Rick. Michonne stood slowly and her eyes widened when she saw Rick. They just stared at each other until Rick walked over to her.
“Ah, I’m sorry about this. Andre apparently saved my little girl, Judith, from some bullies and she wanted me to meet her new best friend.” Rick smiled. “I’m Rick Grimes.”
“Michonne Wil –“ she grimaced at almost using her former married name. “Michonne Richardson.”
Rick and Michonne shook hands and the moment their fingers touched, they knew what they felt when they first saw each other was real.
“It’s a pleasure to finally meet you.”
Rick smiled as he knew exactly what Michonne meant by that statement. “It’s a pleasure to finally meet you, too.” He cleared his throat, suddenly nervous. “Judy wanted to thank Andre with some burgers and milkshakes. Would that be okay? My treat for the four of us.”
Michonne smiled and Rick felt his heart race. “I’d like that.”
Rick and Michonne spent the next few months after officially meeting settling into their feelings for each other and making sure their kids were fine with the changes that were quickly happening in their lives and with seeing their parents with new partners. But everything went smoother than expected and the three kids were soon wondering when they were all going to live together as a family. So, after a year of dating, Rick and Michonne got married in an intimate outdoor ceremony with their closest family and friends in attendance. Some of the best memories from their wedding were of them dancing the night away under the stars with their kids.
Present...
The entrance of the waiter with their grilled salad brought Rick and Michonne back to the present. The couple spent the rest of the evening enjoying their delicious hard work and doing something they hadn’t had a chance to in a long time…just spending time together.
As the evening officially drew to a close, Rick reached across and clasped one of Michonne’s hands. “I want to thank you for this. I love all the time we’ve spent with the kids lately, but I didn’t realize how much I’ve missed us having time alone.”
“That’s what this whole evening was about.” Michonne thought back to all that had happened during their cooking class. “But maybe a couple’s cooking class wasn’t the best way to spend time together.”
Rick shook his head with a laugh. “No, this was the most adult fun I’ve had in a while.” When Michonne gave him a look he continued. “I mean outside of the adult fun we have in our bedroom of course.”
“That’s not what that look was about. I’m surprised you actually had fun. The night was a bit of a mess.”
“It was but that’s what made it fun. Besides, we made some new friends. We cooked some good food. And the best part is I got to spend it all with you.”
“You really are the sweetest man in the world.”
Rick blushed at the compliment. “I don’t know about all of that, but I do know we should do this again.”
“You want to go to another couple’s cooking class?” Michonne asked incredulous.
“Oh, hell no. I meant we should do more stuff with just the two of us.”
“Okay. I think we can manage that.”
“But I would like to keep in touch with the folks from class…maybe have them over sometime.”
“Even Abe and Eugene?”
Rick looked over to the friends enjoying their meal. “Yes, even Abe and Eugene.”
“Just as I said…sweetest man in the world.” Michonne smiled at her husband. “You ready to get out of here?”
“Yeah. What do you want to do after we leave? It’s still early yet.” Rick knew exactly what he wanted them to do.
“Well, it’s Saturday night. The kids will be gone until tomorrow and we have the house all to ourselves.” Michonne tapped her chin as she pretended to ponder for a minute. “My oh my, whatever could we do?”
Glad they were on the same page, Rick jumped out of his seat and rushed around to help Michonne out of hers. “You get our doggie bag while I bring the car around. Oh, and see if Olivia has any extra lemon curd in there.”
“Why?”
“You acted like it was so good when you licked it off of your finger. I want a chance to see how good it tastes on the rest of your body.”
Michonne swallowed and nodded. “I’ll be back lickety split,” she said, employing one of Rick’s country phrases.
“Funny, you should say that, cause that’s exactly what I’m going to do to you when we get home.” Rick kissed a shocked Michonne and gave her gentle push into the direction of the restaurant.
Michonne looked over her shoulder and watched Rick walk out to the parking lot. When she turned around and spotted Olivia she took a page from Abraham’s book and yelled, “Lemon curd…STAT!”
Finally, a chance to relax.
Fun drinking game: take a shot (of water) whenever they kiss. :P There's so much cheesiness in here like you wouldn't believe.
“Holy shit,” was the first thing that Levi said when he opened the door.
Leave it to their daughter and friends to not half-ass anything.
The hotel room was simple yet modern. It wasn’t overly grand but it was cozy with the king-sized bed taking up the majority of the space and a couch near the windows that lead to the balcony outside. There was a large bathroom that was directly to his right and Levi was eyeing the bathtub with interest. He could really go for a relaxing bath right now.
While he was putting the bags away, Eren quickly made his way across the room and opened the balcony door. Taking a moment to appreciate the scene before him, he then took a deep breath and smiled from all the fresh air. “Levi, look! Isn’t the view gorgeous?”
Looking up, Levi blinked when the sunlight hit Eren’s body just right, making him look like an angel with the beautiful beach in the background, creating a stunning sight for his eyes. He reached for his pockets and cursed when he forgot that he no longer had his cellphone. Damn it, Mikasa.
Remembering that this was exactly the reason why their daughter pulled this stunt in the first place, Levi strolled towards Eren and pulled him into his arms. He felt Eren relax and closed his eyes when arms wrapped around his shoulders, pulling them tighter, breathing in the hints of the fruity body wash that Eren liked to use.
Fuck. When was the last time they held each other like this? To just be close together and nothing else?
Levi nuzzled into Eren’s neck and pressed chaste kisses wherever he could reach. He could feel Eren slightly shake from laughter and he couldn’t help but smile.
“That tickles.”
He pulled away, just slightly, and finally took a good look at Eren for the first time in a while.
The first thing he noticed were the eyes. Over the years, they lost their vibrancy, but it didn’t make them any less beautiful. Like a deep amber and a jade if he was feeling poetic – not as bright, but still gorgeous. If anything, the eyes matured along with Eren.
Next, he reached up and gently traced Eren’s features with his fingers. The jawline was more pronounced and there was a slight stubble that he didn’t get the chance to shave because of their morning rush. Worry lines were starting to form on his forehead and he frowned when he saw how prominent the bags under the eyes were. His other hand reached behind Eren, threaded his fingers through his hair. Eren grew out his hair, long enough to be pulled into an adorable ponytail on occasions. It was a shame that he do much with his hair besides that, though, Levi was willing to bet that Eren would look killer with a side shave.
When his fingers stopped at the corner of Eren’s lips, Levi pulled Eren downwards for a proper kiss. Hands found their way on his hips and he grunted when the kiss turned demanding, as though they were seeing each other again for the first time in months.
It might as well be the case with the way they kissed with fervor and only letting go when they needed air.
Flushing from the kiss, Eren still managed to smile and caressed Levi’s cheek, giving him a tender look as he did so.
Levi wanted to cry.
Kissing Eren again, he mumbled, “We’re stupid.”
More kisses followed, less passionate and chaste but no less affectionate. “We are.”
“I’m sorry.”
“I’m sorry, too. I can’t believe neither of us noticed.”
Levi shook his head. “We were too preoccupied with work to notice.”
“I’m glad that Mikasa did something, though.” Stepping back, Eren held Levi’s hand with his, rubbing Levi’s wedding ring in his right hand. “I know that we’re very busy people and we want to make our fans happy but I think we deserve to have days to recharge ourselves once in a while.”
“Agreed.” Without warning, Levi pulled Eren towards him and quickly grabbed his torso and spun around to practically throw his husband onto the bed.
Eren squealed when he landed on the bed with a bounce, laughing when Levi jumped on top, trapping him in with his arms. Levi was smiling above him and Eren couldn’t resist pulling him into one of many more kisses that were guaranteed to come throughout the day.
While they were usually content with just lazily making out, Eren gently pushed Levi away when he felt hands wandering under his shirt. At Levi’s pout, Eren shot him a cheeky grin. “As much as I want to relive our honeymoon again, I want us to spend the day doing cutesy couple stuff.”
Levi opened his mouth to reply but was cut off by his stomach growling. Eren laughed when Levi scowled (more to his natural bodily needs) and rolled them over so they could sit properly. “And I suppose we can get something to eat to feed you.” Playfully patting Levi’s stomach, he got off the bed and pulled Levi along with him. “So, you ready to spend the rest of your day with your husband?”
The pure elation he felt at the thought of spending time with Eren with no interruptions excited him. Sneaking in another kiss, it was him who was dragging Eren out of the room, more than ready to finally start their long overdue date together.
They decided to head to the pier that was located on the beach for lunch. Since it was a Saturday, it was packed with tourists and they barely managed to get into a café with an available since everywhere else was busy. Squeezing into a booth, they both ordered their food after a quick glance at the menu, much to the relief of their server. While they were waiting for their food to arrive, the two continued their conversation from their walk. At first, they were discussing work-related stuff but when they realized what they were doing, they eased into random topics and telling fun stories from their pasts.
“-and then we were chased after by the mall security guard after Jean spat his gum down the floor below. It was like a movie situation where we decided to split up and meet outside afterward.”
Levi smiled, barely concealing his chuckled as he asked, “Did you manage to get away from him? Or did any of you get caught?”
“He was chasing after me for a while but it was like in Scooby-Doo where I just missed Connie, who was running in the other direction, and the security guard chased after him instead. Luckily, we managed to outrun him and then we went for ice cream afterward to celebrate.”
Levi snorted but then it turned into quiet laughter. Eren simply grinned, loving how deep and throaty Levi’s voice got whenever he laughed. “So, do you have any fun stories to share of when you were in high school?”
“Please, I was a model student.” At Eren’s deadpanned look, Levi rolled his eyes. “It was mainly Izzy who got me and Far in trouble. On the last day of school in our junior year, she spilled tanning oil all over the senior locker hall area.”
“Did anyone get hurt?”
“No, but she got caught and somehow I, along with Mike and Farlan, had to help her clean up the mess.”
“I bet the seniors were pissed.”
“Fuck yeah they were. It wasn’t easy to clean as quickly as possible when people are watching your every move and burning holes with their eyes alone.”
The cheeky grin was back. “But you have that effect on others, love.”
Levi opted to nudge Eren’s foot with his under the table, instead of replying, but then it turned into them playing footsie like they used to back when they were dating. They were trying to get the other to break and laugh first but their server interrupted their play fight with their orders before they were able to determine the winner.
They weren’t deterred, though, opting to instead have their feet touch each other as they ate their lunches. Levi raised a brow when Eren later ordered a glass of bubble tea and the green drink was placed right between them with two thick straws. He snorted softly when Eren eagerly started drinking through the straw on his side and was looking at him expectantly.
It wasn’t a milkshake but it was still horribly clichéd.
Nonetheless, he did so with a huff and stared at Eren while he drank his share of the honeydew drink. Eren’s eyes gleamed and Levi watched as more of the tapioca pearls get swept up into his mouth. Feeling giddy from how the day has progressed so far, he decided to unleash a secret talent of his.
Eren sputtered into the drink and Levi instantly recoiled. Half-concerned and half-amused by the way Eren was trying to laugh and cough at the same time. The same server came back to see if everything was alright and offered Eren more napkins as he tried to regain composure. Levi made a mental note to give a nice tip for the mess.
Finally regaining his breath, Eren turned to Levi. “What the fuck? Where did you learn how to do that?”
“Oh, this?” As he did before, one of Levi’s eyes moved up with the other moved to the side. He stuck out his tongue for an added effect and Eren chuckled in amusement.
“Yeah, that.”
He blinked and his eyes were back to normal. “Hange.”
“Figures.”
“You okay?” Levi asked.
Eren gently rubbed his neck and sheepishly smiled. “Ah… it went through the wrong pipe. I think I almost got a pearl stuck up my nose, too.”
“I guess boba isn’t the way to go for the romantic shit.”
A huff of indignation. “It isn’t when you pull out that wild card.”
Levi did it again and Eren threw a fry at him.
After lunch, Levi suggested they take a walk around the pier and beach. Eren agreed wholeheartedly and wasn’t shy to latch onto Levi, making sure to clasp their hands together as they made their trek under the bright sun. Levi complained about the extra heat in his hand but made no indication of removing it despite the sweat that was building in between their palms.
They were walking in companionable silence until they heard someone call for Levi. He turned to the voice and saw a group of four people running towards him.
“I told you!”
“Oh my god! It is him!”
“And he’s with Eren, too!”
The group of teens stopped right in front of them and the couple immediately recognized that they were fans from the way their star-struck eyes and big smiles.
“Hi there,” Eren politely greeted.
A chorus of hi’s and hello’s replied back to him. One member of the group pushed one of the other closer to them and said, “Our friend here wanted to ask you guys for a picture.”
“You ass!” The one who was pushed up hit back behind to knock his friend’s hands away. “I’m not the only one who wanted a picture!”
“Yeah, but you were the one who wanted to take a picture from afar. That’s way creepier, dude.”
Levi held out his hand to calm the group down. “Don’t get your briefs in a twist, we’ll gladly take a picture with you lot.”
The group cheered at that and both Levi and Eren took a selfie with them individually and then a group picture.
“Thanks! Are you not doing any vlogs today, Eren?” One of them asked, looking around him to see if there were any cameras in sight.
Eren shook his head. “Not today, no. Today is just me and my darling here on our date.”
Levi turned away to hide his face and the group snickered. “Well, I’m glad to see you two together. I haven’t seen Levi in your recent vlogs but I guess you two were just busy.”
Eren’s smile dropped ever so slightly, but the group didn’t notice it. “Oh, yeah, we were.”
But Levi did.
He reached for Eren’s hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze before giving attention to the teenagers. “Sorry to cut this short, but we would like to continue on with our date if you don’t mind,” he said the last part while looking at Eren and the group seemed to get the hint.
“No worries. Sorry for interrupting and thanks for taking a picture with us. Have fun with your date!”
Eren and Levi waved as the teens ran back to where they came from. Eren immediately hunched over Levi’s body and held him tight. “I never noticed that I haven’t included you in my videos.”
“It’s fine, it happens-”
“No.” Eren’s voice turned firm, “You’re a very important part of my life and my vlogs were meant to feature highlights of interesting things around me.”
Levi sighed and rubbed circles on Eren’s hip. While Eren’s words were very sweet and loving, Levi didn’t want him to continue to brood over with that train of thought. Today was meant for them to enjoy themselves and not think of the past. Instead, he decided to reply with, “You think I’m interesting?” in a teasing tone.
“Very. Like, come on. I can’t think of another grouchy person who’s also like a sweet puddle of goo on the inside.”
Levi looked at him incredulously. “Are you craving for a molten lava cake?”
“Are you sure it’s not you who’s craving for one?”
“No, but I’m going to be a puddle of sweat if you keep sticking yourself onto me like this.” To prove his point, he gently nudged Eren off of him and their skin detached themselves slowly from one another like good pricing stickers on mugs.
Eren laughed when Levi looked at his red skin where his body was. “At least you’re not wearing leather like you normally do. You would probably look like a lobster at this point.”
“Rock lobster?”
“Levi, no.”
“We were at the beach-”
“Nope!” Eren took off and ran down the beach, trying to block his ears as Levi ran after him, singing off-key and making pinching hand motions.
He shrieked when Levi caught up to him, cursing himself for missing several cardio days at the gym. He was lifted up and was spun around several times, not caring what onlookers thought of them as he laughed in glee. When he was put down, he granted Levi another kiss as seagulls squawked around them.
There was mirth in Levi’s eyes and Eren swore his eyes were just like that as well. Pulling him in for another kiss, Eren thought, ‘I’m so glad I’m married to this dork.’
The rest of their afternoon was spent on the beach after going back to the hotel to check their bags. Mikasa was wonderful enough to pack them their swimwear (several for Eren in case he wasn’t feeling comfortable) and Eren helped spread liberal amounts of sunscreen on Levi to make sure he doesn’t actually end up with a nasty burn after their day.
They swam in the water for long periods of time until their skin turned wrinkly. Eren even managed to convince Levi to help him build a sandcastle but the results were… interesting (read: shitty).
After renting bikes to go around the pier with, the couple went back to their hotel room, exhausted, and decided to order room service after taking a nice bath together because fuck it, why not?
As they were eating their over-priced pizza and sipping on their equally over-priced wine, they snuggled next to one another as they watched whatever movie that was on TV. They obviously weren’t paying much attention since they would try to take turns sneaking in kisses or whispering things they liked about the other to see how flustered they would get.
Eren was starting to feel drowsy from the warmth Levi’s body provided and his stomach full. He would have dozed off if Levi didn’t nudge him awake.
“Hm?”
“Wanna do one more romantic thing to end the night with?”
Intrigued, his drowsiness was gone in a second. “What is it?”
“No more questions, just follow my lead.” Levi got off the bed after cleaning himself up and offered his hand to Eren, who accepted it with enthusiasm.
They left the hotel and Eren was grinning widely as they walked along the pier, inching closer to the amusement park. As they paid for admission, it was obvious where Levi was taking him as he navigated through the crowd to get in line to ride the iconic Ferris wheel. Looking up at the flashing LED lights in the night sky, Eren sighed wistfully, wondering how perfect it was to end their day with. “This is so romantic, I can’t believe you.”
“Just wait until we reach the top.”
“Let me guess, we’re going to kiss when we’re up there?”
“No. It’s going to be a full-on make-out session.”
Eren knew he was joking by the straight voice Levi used but a part of him was hoping that it would happen. He wouldn’t oppose if it ended up like that, not at all.
When they finally got inside the little carriage, Eren settled himself next to Levi, half of his body essentially on Levi’s lap. Eren held Levi’s left hand as they got closer to the top, gently rubbing the ring as though to remind himself that he was truly married to this wonderful person.
On cue, the moment they stopped at the very top, they both met each other in the middle. Eren opened his mouth to let Levi in and quietly groaned when Levi practically devoured him, letting out sighs of bliss when Levi grounded him onto his lap.
When they pulled away, Eren leaned forward so that their foreheads were touching each other. The lights from the Ferris wheel made Levi’s skin turn different colors, but his eyes were something else. Levi always complimented him on his eyes but Eren thought Levi’s silver eyes were so much more beautiful. They held so many emotions and compassion that Eren felt like drowning into them if he stared long enough.
Feeling overwhelmed, Eren closed his eyes for a moment to breathe again. “I’m going to say something really cheesy. Are you ready for it?”
“Go for it.”
The sound of ecstatic screams in the distance and the crowd below them wasn’t loud enough to cover Eren’s “I love you” before going in to seal another kiss.
Levi huffed in amusement. “Wow. 10 outta 10 on the cheesiness scale.” Before Eren could protest, he pulled him in and whispered, “I love you, too,” in his ear and kissed along the side of Eren’s face.
Eren’s breath was caught in his throat. He allowed himself to be pampered as they descended, loving the attention he was receiving and wondered how it was possible to go without it for so long.
The rest of the evening was spent playing various games at the park. Mainly for fun but Levi couldn’t help but show off once in a while and winning gifts for Eren. His husband returned the gesture as well and Levi was sure he was never more attracted to Eren than when the brunet held the gun and won him a Minecraft ocelot plush at the shooting gallery.
They were high on happiness by the time they made it back to their hotel room. Eren had no qualms about pushing Levi onto the bed, their spoils of war (their plush toys) scattered on the floor and Eren crawled on top on top of him. The only source of light they had was through their balcony windows, the moonlight streaming in to accentuate the other’s body.
Trailing a finger from Levi’s collar neck down to the hem of his pants, Eren smirked as he made himself comfortable on top of his husband. “So, Levi…” Eren slipped his hands underneath the soft material. “You ready for some romantic fun?”
Grabbing Eren’s hand, he kissed the ring there as his other hand made his way down Eren’s chest. “I’m always ready for you, love.” He flipped them over and smothered Eren’s mouth with his own, preparing to relive their honeymoon moments once more.
Mikasa almost sped her way to the hotel once it came to view. She knew her parents were busy but she never realized they were this busy. She answered every phone call and replied to the never-ending text messages that popped up. She even had to wake up in the middle of the night since one Eren’s sponsors were based in Australia and forgot about the time zone differences.
She was exhausted. How the hell her parents managed to handle all of it on top of making their own content was a wonder to her, but she was all the more grateful that she planned this spontaneous day for them. They deserved it if that was what they had to deal with on a daily.
Pulling up, she saw that her parents were outside waiting for her. She smiled at the way they were close together and to top it off, they were even wearing matching shirts. Eren’s was in black and her dad’s was in white. How cute.
When she parked in front of them, they put their bags in the trunk and Eren sat in the passenger seat, kissing Mikasa on the cheek as they did so.
“Thank you, Mikasa. Yesterday was perfect.”
“Yeah?”
Levi leaned forward from the backseat to ruffle her hair. “You did great, kiddo, but we were wondering if you can do another huge favor for us.”
With the way Eren was smiling ear to ear, Mikasa curiously asked, “What is it?”
“Drive us to the aquarium. I think we’re also overdue for some family time together, don’t you think?”
Mikasa laughed and gave them each a hug with her free arm. “I think so too.”
Driving away from the hotel, Mikasa smiled as her parents told her about how they spent the day yesterday. They kept looking at each other with loving looks and Mikasa was happy that she helped talk some sense into them.
Maybe she could convince them to take her on their upcoming trip out of the city. Just in case they drown themselves with work again, of course.
