Everything in this world felt empty. It all felt so… weightless. Like you could pick something up, and it would have no meaning. Sometimes, you felt that way, too.
You couldn’t help it.
It was like everything you felt had drained from your very being, leaving your deflated and aching and empty.
But the emptiness sometimes masked as rage, and then you were throwing all of these meaningless things at meaningless walls, sick to death of hearing yourself yell about things that didn’t matter, that held no weight.
It didn’t matter what it was, it just gave you the shortest reprieve of feeling something, of feeling angry. It burned hot in your veins, and for a moment, you were full of fire. Until your oxygen ran out, and the fire spluttered before it died away, leaving you panting and exhausted and empty once more.
You knew it concerned Maria. Knew that she didn’t need this, the stress of having some kid that lacked the ability to even feel remorseful for breaking the plate that she had only just given you. She should’ve been focusing on the impending arrival of her actual kid, not feeling responsible for the one her brother-in-law had practically dumped on her doorstep.
But you didn’t ask for this either, did you?
Even when you had tried to leave, tried to get a horse out of its stall in the stable, tried to follow the only people you believed you could trust, you couldn’t.
You just about remember the way Tommy had pulled you back from where you had been frantic, trying to untie the horse in a frenzy as your chest heaved, the abandonment trying to deep into your bones. You had coughed and gasped, doing everything you could to try and get this feeling out of you, but nothing had worked.
Then, you had woken up on Tommy and Maria’s couch, the two of them beginning to doze off as the night crept up on them. It had been Maria who had jolted awake first, even when you just rustled the blanket they’d placed over you.
You didn’t want her pity then, had outright refused it. The two adults had tried to comfort you, but you had made it so difficult — because why should you make it easy? Your trust had been burnt up, your tether had reached its end, and you felt… hopeless.
There was nobody left for you in this world — and you wouldn’t let Maria or Tommy try to change that, even with their consistent attempts at being there for you.
They had relented to letting you remain in the house across the road, despite wanting you to remain in their home. They brought over meals every day, whether it be from the pub in town, or from their own kitchen.
Luckily for you, they hadn’t mentioned the cuts to your hand, the ones you had gotten from scraping up shards of ceramic off of the floor, after yet another one of your meltdowns. Sometimes, the only way you could actually feel that anger, was to let it out. And considering they hadn’t given you any of your weapons back, throwing plates and bowls and cups against all available surfaces had to suffice.
It had been weeks — you were sure of it. As much as you tried not to take count, the absence of the only people you had left made the days and nights pass slowly, so slowly that it was just a matter of how many days had you been throwing things? Or how many nights had remained restless?
It was on the twenty-sixth day that Maria had enough, seeing the remains of yet another plate in the garbage around the back of your house.
“Okay, if you’re gonna keep breaking these, you’re gonna have to start replacing them.” Maria told you, voice sterner than it had been in a long time. She’d tried the gentle approach, tried being soft, tried letting you heal in your own way, but it didn’t seem to be working. So strict Maria it would have to be. “Come with me.”
You followed her, with some reluctance, but you knew you didn’t have much of a choice. After all, as much as you hated to admit it, you relied on her. Without her, you were screwed.
So, you shrugged on your coat, and followed her as the snow crunched underneath your boots. She took turns so quickly, with so little hesitation, that you were almost surprised. You’d been in Jackson for a few weeks, and this didn’t feel familiar to you.
She tugged open a shop door, coughing away the dust that shot up at her, and felt the wall for a light switch, humming in victory when the store lit up.
You looked around, confused. You didn’t have money to buy new plates… and this place looked empty. You turned to Maria, watching as she wiped the dust off of a circular… machine?
“Well, it’s not the cleanest,” She acknowledged, “But there’s some supplies left out back, and the boys know where to get more clay.”
“Clay? What— Maria, what is this place?” You asked, running your finger against the dusty grooves of a wooden table, feeling bumps of dried something, and leaning forward to inspect the tools that had been abandoned on the table.
“Old ceramics shop,” She told you, opening the door to the back section of the shop and opening a window to let the air breathe. “Hasn’t been a big priority, really. Came in to get some plates when some of the houses had none, but nobody’s been all to bothered ‘bout fixing it up.”
“So, why am I here?” You raised your eyebrows, starting to get annoyed.
“Because, you’re gonna fix it up. If you’re gonna keep breaking all my damn plates, you’re gonna have to replace ‘em.” Maria replied, opening the windows at the front of the shop, and twisting the sign on the door from open, to closed.
“I… I don’t know shit about making plates.” You offered up quietly, fingers picking at your nails as you tried to get out of this. You did feel… almost guilty, about her plates, but at the same time, it was all you could do.
“Well, no better time to learn. Got some books around here, that’ll help, I’m sure. You can figure this out.” Maria said, your name falling softly from her lips, and you missed the other thing she was doing, which would be giving you something to do, giving you a purpose.
You huffed, feeling something nervous brewing in your stomach, but nodded at Maria before she left. You looked around the shop, eyebrows creasing as you realised you had a lot of work to do.
∘₊✧───── ───── ───── ─────✧₊∘
Tommy’s face was a sight, the first time he walked into the old ceramics shop.
When Maria had come to him, nearing tears in her excitement, telling him that you had finally done the ceramics shop some good, he hadn’t known exactly what to expect. He was well aware how much time you spent in that old place, and he had scolded you over it numerous times, saying the dust would do you no favours… or whatever.
The two of them knew that really, the ceramics shop had done you some good, but Tommy didn’t quite realise how much effort you had really put into it. Sure, it had been more than a few weeks now, but you were on your own in fixing it up.
So when you opened the door, something so close to a smile on your face, he was surprised. Shocked, even.
The surfaces were clean, for a start, which was nothing short of a miracle in his eyes. The furniture had been put back into place, not counting the pile of rotted wood that was outside, unsalvageable. Old ceramic work had been cleaned and put on display, alongside two names — the artists who made them, Tommy realised quickly.
And then there were the plates sat on the counter. New, slightly misshapen, and there was a box next to them, already filled with old newspaper.
“To replace the ones I broke.” You told him, when he looked at you, eyebrows furrowed. Tommy couldn’t help the smile that grew on him, something proud in his chest.
He hadn’t known you for nearly as long as Joel had, but god, he could recognise it in you immediately. The resemblance to his niece, just barely peeking out when you didn’t bury that part of you. He could see why Joel had gotten so… attached. Even if you didn’t resemble Sarah within your mannerisms in a way that was uncanny, you were a good kid.
Despite all the plate-throwing, name-calling, yelling and tears he’d seen from you, he knew you were good. He couldn’t blame you for your reactions, not with the way you had been left behind. And Tommy — he could understand why Joel did it, far more than you could, at least, but he recognised the pain in you.
Even if Joel did it as a result of his need to protect you, it didn’t come across like that in your eyes. From your view, he had taken the girl he knew for a couple months, and dumped you with his younger brother. He didn’t want you, didn’t care about you. It hurt. It hurt and it burnt your chest when you thought of it, and the only thing that made you feel a different kind of fire was creating your own destruction.
But this, this was different.
Tommy could see it in your face. This was such a drastic change from the girl who did everything she could to destroy what she got her hands on. This was a girl who finally got to create.
And sure, in a box in the corner of the room, there were the shattered remains of your failed attempts, but it hadn’t felt quite the same.
You thought of it this way; by throwing his and Maria’s dinnerware, you were destroying something that belonged to someone else. It was familiar to you. Trying to create the pain that caved your chest in, within another person. And yes, it was wrong, on so many levels, but you couldn’t help it. You just wanted somebody to understand.
When you had taken that first circular sculpture out of the kiln, and thrown it as hard as you could, it almost… hurt. These things were an extension of you. You had shaped these with your own hands, folded them into what you saw fit, so why should you destroy them? How could you? You made them this way.
So you had hidden the rest of the failed attempts, shoved into a cupboard in the back section of the shop, and had piled up your best attempts for Tommy and Maria to take home.
“You’ve been busy,” Tommy said, his eyebrows raised as he walked his way around the old shop, noticing you had even cleaned the two-decades worth of grime from the windows. “These are good, you been working on anythin’ else?”
“Tried a mug,” You offered, shrugging, “Didn’t really go so well. Neither did the bowl.”
“Work in progress,” Tommy replied, knocking your shoulder with his elbow. “Thanks, kid. You didn’t have to.”
“Actually, Maria’s instructions.” You said, but amusement was taking over your voice as you said the words. It was true — she had told you to replace what you had broken. But you hadn’t expected to enjoy it so much.
Tommy laughed, picking up the pile and placing it in the box you’d prepared, three layers of duct tape going either way across the bottom of it. “Well, it’s appreciated, anyway. You ‘round for dinner tonight?”
You shrugged again, making your way behind the counter to shuffle through some things in the back room absentmindedly, rolling your eyes when Tommy followed. You didn’t mind him or Maria hanging around as much as you used to, but you kept them at a distance.
“Come ‘round.” Tommy said then, instead, no longer posing it as a question. They’d tried to get you to move in, take up the spare room that would eventually go to their unborn child, but you’d strongly disagreed.
“You cooking? Or Maria?” You asked him, eyebrow raised as you turned to look at him, leaning back against the counter.
“Maria,” Tommy answered, rolling his eyes at your snicker of amusement. “She tries not to let me within ten feet of the damn oven.”
You couldn’t blame her. On the days that Tommy had brought food over to that big empty house opposite their own, it had been… an experience. Luckily for the two of you, Maria had agreed to go out on less patrols as the weeks passed by, sharing some of Tommy’s nervousness for what could happen.
“Not surprised.” You commented, a small grin on your face. You looked around the room, picking at your fingernails before you spoke up. “Hey, I was thinkin’—”
“That’s dangerous.”
You ignored him, only responding with yet another eye roll, “Get a bed in here, some drawers… could be a good spot for me.”
“Somethin’ wrong with Rancher Street?” He asked, concerned as he stood up straighter, looking around the room, not quite sure why you’d want to leave the house that provided you with plenty of space, warmth, and running water.
“No— No, there’s nothing wrong with it. Just… pretty big space for just one person, y’know?” You said, and gestured towards the door at the other side of the room, “This place has got a bathroom, anyway, so. And I mean, I always eat at yours or at the hall.”
Tommy frowned, contemplating.
Though they would’ve preferred you to have stayed in their home, Tommy and Maria relented when you had insisted on staying in that house. In the end, they had figured, what’s the harm? After all, once Joel and Ellie returned — which Tommy was sure would come, eventually, — they’d be living in that house, too.
That was the point. The house on Rancher Street was reserved for the three of you. Tommy had hoped, secretly, that you staying there, meant you wanted to fix things up, once the others returned.
You looked to him, when he was quiet for a moment too long, and he cleared his throat. “‘Spose it wouldn’t hurt. Bit of a trek from here, to ours, though.”
“Tommy, when I was…” You trailed, looking away, “I used to walk miles in a day. This short walk won’t hurt me.”
“You got a point,” He acknowledged, tipping his head forward, and ignoring your unfinished sentence. “But man, Maria’s not gonna be happy.” He thought of his wife, waddling her way over when she was near-ready to burst, and shook his head with a grin. “For you, I guess she’ll get on with it.”
“Shut up,” You said, amusement clear in your tone. “Now get outta here. I got some more fixin’ up to do.”
Tommy put his hands up in surrender, before slipping the box of plates into his hands, yelling out a, “See you later!” As he left.
You shook your head, rolling your eyes with a begrudgingly fond expression as you took another look around. There was a table that wouldn’t do you any good, too big, so that’d have to go. You wiped your hands against your tattered trousers, and sighed.
∘₊✧───── ───── ───── ─────✧₊∘
The lights in Jackson were warm, and filled the streets you walked through as the night slowly took over the day. It was nice, being able to see in front of you as the sky darkened. You tried not to get used to it, but knew you were settling.
It was hard not to — especially after Maria had officially declared that the shop was yours, for whatever you wanted to do with it.
You tried not to think of Boston, usually, but the last time you had had something that was truly yours, was there. It was hard to forget the things you had stashed away, hidden underneath floorboards that were concealed by the only half-decent mattress that Tess and Joel could find.
Thinking of that life was painful, especially when realising that it was unreachable. You hadn’t known it, when you’d left Boston QZ, but you would never get to return to that home that you’d built. To those things you had owned. To the family that had grown its roots in that crappy old apartment.
It was something strange, really. To think that all you had, perhaps all you ever would have, belonged to this town. You were reliant on its walls keeping you safe. At least that much was similar to life in Boston.
People were happier here, though.
You probably couldn’t include yourself in that statement, but for the most part, it was true. The streets remained lit through the dark nights, and you could go out for a walk at any time of the day, with no consequences. Which was a bit of luck, considering that Tommy and Maria always ate late on in the day.
Turning on to their street, you frowned, because the lights in the house opposite Tommy and Maria’s — the one you had yet to move out of — were turned on. And you always turned them off before you left.
You hurried into Tommy and Maria’s, shutting the door tightly behind you and kicking your shoes off in the doorway. “Guys?” You called out, hanging your coat beside the doorway and making your way toward where you heard their responding shouts in the kitchen. “What’s going on?” You asked, upon entering the room.
The glance they shared did not go unnoticed by you.
You raised your eyebrows as they looked to you, seeming almost… nervous. “Did you already tell her?” You asked Tommy, and saw the way Maria’s face immediately flashed with confusion.
“Tell me what?” She asked, turning to Tommy whilst being conscious to continue stirring whatever it was that she was cooking.
“I didn’t—”
“Then who’s in the house?” You interrupted, feeling like your stomach was sinking. You’d thought it would be strange for them to immediately place new people in the house, given that you hadn’t quite packed up the few things you had left there, and the shop wasn’t quite ready. But what other explanation was there?
“Okay, let’s just press pause for a second.” Maria said, shaking her head and looking to her husband. “What haven’t you told me?”
“Well,” He began, scratching the back of his neck, and gesturing towards you, “The shop’s lookin’ real good. And she was hoping she could, y’know, get a bed in there, and stay there.”
“So you haven’t moved new people into the house?” You asked her, feeling your stomach swoop down further as you spoke, and your mouth was going dry. “Then, does that mean—”
Tommy held a placating hand toward you, and it just told you all you needed to know.
“When?” You asked, feeling like your fingertips were burning and your chest was going to explode with how tightly it had constricted. They hesitated, so you repeated, more forcefully, “When?”
“No more than a couple hours ago.” Maria said, putting her spoon down on the counter and stepping forward, frowning when you turned away from her. “The guys on the gate spotted ‘em. Pretty banged up, but they’ll be okay. Sent them in to get some rest.”
“And you didn’t come and tell me?” You demanded, though your voice was weak and you had to hold your hand against your chest to try and steady your breathing.
“Kid, we—”
“Don’t call me that!” You snapped, immediately. Tommy sighed through his nose, nodding his head in something close to defeat. “I don’t want to see either of them. I’m not going in there.”
“You don’t have to do anything right now,” Maria said, frowning at your expression. “You can stay here, tonight, and we can sort the shop out for you tomorrow, but…”
Tommy placed a hand against Maria’s shoulder as she trailed off, “We were thinkin’, maybe you guys could talk it out. It’s been a couple months, now.”
“What’s there to talk about?” You questioned, voice sharp and paining your throat as you spoke. “They left me behind. Think that says everything, doesn’t it?”
It was all over their faces, the fact that they wanted to say more, wanted to say something in some kind of defence of the other Miller man, but they knew you. The married couple were more than aware that anything they said would mean nothing to you. You were like Joel, in that way, Tommy had said before. Stubborn.
They nodded, almost in sync, and Maria turned back to the stove, to continue cooking as she had been before.
“Would you get my stuff for me? When you get the chance?” You asked Tommy, who nodded his head, a frown prominent on his face.
“I’ll go first thing.” He replied, secretly hoping that come morning, you’d magically want to make amends with his brother. He knew it wasn’t likely.
“Thank you.” You said, feeling like heat was crawling up your neck the longer you stood there. The fire in your stomach was fading away, just leaving you feeling uncomfortably warm as you stood in the room. “I’m gonna go get some fresh air.” You nodded to the back door, and headed out once they acknowledged your words.
You stepped out, feeling the muggy air cool your lungs. It was colder than you’d expected, especially considering the way heat seemed to cling to everything in these parts, and you had to grind your teeth to stop the shiver that went down your spine.
It was only when Maria called to tell you dinner was ready that you stepped back inside, rubbing your hands against your arms to try and rid your skin of goosebumps.
∘₊✧───── ───── ───── ─────✧₊∘
Tommy had moved you into the shop the very next day, constructing a makeshift bed frame from whatever wood the town could spare, and bringing a mattress from an out-of-use house. You could tell he had wanted to say something, but he held himself back.
Now, it had been almost two weeks since they had returned to Jackson. And you’d been doing a fantastic job of avoiding any sight of them.
It hadn’t been difficult, in the beginning, with them taking time to rest and recover from their journey — or so Maria had told you. But it got harder as the days went on. They were beginning to explore the town, to join in on jobs, to eat where you would usually eat. It was getting annoying.
For the past few months, you’d found it so hard to live without them, but now, you realised it was much harder to live with them around. Hell, you’d even had to avoid Tommy and Maria’s on occasion, because you’d catch yourself starving before being in a room with the two of them, willingly.
Tommy had mentioned that they’d asked about you, that they’d been wondering where you were, but you didn’t need to say much for him to realise that you didn’t want them privy to any information about you. After all, they’d lost that right when they’d abandoned you here, in a town full of strangers, with no concern of what it might do to you.
You were getting angry, the longer it went on, the suspense of when you’d finally catch glimpse of them was eating you up inside. It was like life before Jackson, that feeling of being constantly on edge, of checking behind your shoulder consistently as time passed by.
It was safe to say that you weren’t happy.
You’d tried to keep yourself busy in the shop, in the little safe space in Jackson that was tucked away, belonging only to you, but things seemed tense outside of Jackson, and with Tommy taking on more patrols, Maria had been left alone an awful lot.
Tommy had asked you not to tell her, and you had absolutely no plans to, but he had asked you to hang around with her a bit more.
Partly for her own good, and mostly for his peace of mind. A little part, which he refused to tell you, was that it was also for your own good. Taking your mind off of Joel and Ellie was the best he could do for you, and this was the only way he knew how.
So, you had spent more time than you could’ve imagined at their house. Ending up falling asleep on their couch more times than you could count, with Maria insisting on waiting for Tommy to get home from his late-night patrols. He often came home to the two of you soundly asleep against the couch cushions, and you often woke up in a different position to what you fell asleep in, a blanket covering you and keeping away the slight chill.
It was one of those mornings, and you were in desperate need for a shower and some fresh clothes. You wrote a note for the two of them, knowing it was far too early for them to be up, given the way the sun was only just rising, to let them know you were going back to the shop.
Your feet were dragging with every step you took, and shuffling your jacket around your shoulders took more effort than you had expected. It was definitely going to be a long day, especially since you had promised Maria that you’d help her cook dinner later, considering she was still very against letting Tommy near the stove.
The morning air woke you up the slightest bit, but the chill of the breeze had you rubbing your hands together, regretting not bringing gloves, though you knew that later on it’d be far too warm for them.
You heard your name, and froze where you stood, hands clutched together, one foot in front of the other.
It was like your heart stopped the second you heard it, like it was being squeezed so tightly it couldn’t beat. The sensation made your chest ache, and you grit your teeth to move past the pain that had become all too familiar.
You heard him stop, his footsteps pausing as he hesitated behind you. You stood still for a moment more, before stepping away as he made a move to continue. He said your name again, trying to call you to a stop once more, but you hurried your pace, checking behind you after you had turned the corner, lucky enough to find nothing there.
A sigh escaped you, relaxing your tense shoulders just a fraction as you made a quick journey back to the shop.
You tried not to notice the anxiety balled in your chest when you finally made it. The way it was twisting up, pulling tighter on your lungs and leaving you feeling breathless as you thought too long on the slightest of interactions.
Despite not seeing his face, hearing Joel’s voice made their presence all too real, and you felt… overwhelmed. Nervous. Scared, maybe.
It was too much.
Why did they have to come back? Especially when you knew they hadn’t come back for you, but for the comforts of Jackson.
This was the only place that resembled the world before, the only place where you could feel something close to safe, and you could be comfortable. This town was a place for family, and it was clear that you didn’t have that, anymore.
Joel and Ellie had returned, but they weren’t your family. They had left you behind, to find your own way, whilst they went on an adventure of their own, creating a network of roots to settle in something close to a family of their own. You wondered if Ellie reminded Joel of his daughter, but tried to put the thought to rest as quickly as it arose.
You stepped into the shower, and tried to let the water wash away all thoughts of Joel and Ellie and family.
Later, when you stood at Maria’s side, stirring a pot on the stove as she took a moment to rest, complaining of the way her child was making her back ache. She told you about how it made her feel incredibly old, but you could see the fact that she appreciated it, as something of a reminder of the fact she was still here.
You had hummed along with her tangent, paying attention to her words but not feeling up to speaking all too much. Of course, Maria had noticed. She certainly prided herself on her observation skills.
“What’s up?” She asked softly, a strange contrast the the harsh voice she had just been speaking with as she had criticised her body for the pain it felt. Her hand was placed against the bump that has grown significantly, and you knew she was feeling maternal once again.
“It’s nothing.” You told her, because it was, wasn’t it? Joel and Ellie didn’t care about you, so why would you care about them?
“Mhm,” She hummed, raising her brows at you, “Sure it is. Got nothing to do with the two living across the street?”
You shook your head, continuing to stir the food, and tried your best to let out the sigh in your chest as a normal breath. It didn’t work, and Maria rolled her eyes at your denial of something that was so obvious. You didn’t say anything else on the matter, and couldn’t help but feel relieved when she finally let it rest. The two of you finished cooking, with you doing most of the work, and her giving all of the instructions.
But hey, you were much better than Tommy was, despite your inexperience.
It was when the door was knocked whilst you and Maria sat in their living room that you felt that tightening of your chest once again. She glanced to you, taking in the way your limbs had immediately tensed, all of your muscles straining like you weren’t sure whether to bolt, or stay completely still.
She raised a hand, telling you to wait where you were, and made her way to the front door after much groaning in her attempts to get up from the sofa cushions. You refrained from telling her that you were surprised she could manage it on her own, considering the size of her baby bump.
“Hey, Maria.” A familiar voice spoke, and your hands clenched into fists against your thighs, “Tommy in?” Joel asked, remaining outside the house.
“No, uh— he’s on a late patrol, today.” Maria responded, her voice much lighter when she spoke to Joel than it had been when the three of you had first arrived to Jackson.
“Ah,” Joel sighed, and you could hear him taking a step back on the porch, disappointment lacing his tone. It was too familiar. “Mind if I pop by, later on?” He asked, far more hopeful than you had ever heard him.
“Uh…” Maria trailed, and you knew she was looking back in the hallway, unsure if you’d be staying overnight. The wooden floorboards of the porch creaked as Joel stepped forward again, and you heard Maria shushing him as you clenched your teeth together. “Not now, Joel. It’s not a good time. I’ll tell Tommy to stop by yours.”
He sighed, and it was like you were back in Boston, with how heavy he sounded.
It was the same way he would sigh when you got too excited over something, like he was disappointed. Back then, you had thought it had been because he couldn’t guarantee anything for you. Now, you had no idea. You had always believed you had known him and Tess almost too well, but over the past few months, you realised just how wrong you were. Back in Boston, if someone had told them what would happen when you arrived in Jackson, you would’ve laughed in their face. Would’ve been so certain that Joel would never leave your side. You had no idea how wrong you were.
You swallowed, your throat feeling tight, and your tongue feeling like it was too big for your mouth as you heard the door shut, and Maria rounded the corner with a tight smile on her face.
With your heart pounding, you looked at her where she stood, and stopped her just before she could sit down, blurting: “Can you cut my hair?”
Her surprise was evident, but Maria nodded her head, and you tried to breathe through the pain in your lungs as you followed her to the kitchen.
∘₊✧───── ───── ───── ─────✧₊∘
It was week four, and Joel was getting antsy.
Every time he sat down, he found his fingers tapping an unknown rhythm against his trousers, his legs bouncing up and down as he nervously scanned the room, as though you’d appear from around the corner at any second. Of course, it never happened.
Each time he arrived back to the house on Rancher Street, Ellie’s head perked up, the most hopeful he’d seen her since before winter, and he had to shake his head. Had to watch her expression fall.
When he had seen you leaving Tommy and Maria’s, far too early in the morning for anyone to be awake, something had risen in his chest. He knew it was stupid, that he was a fool for thinking you might speak to him after what he did, but he had hoped so badly that you might just understand.
It was the closest he had been to you in weeks, and he hadn’t even managed to see your face up close, had only just about seen a glimpse of it when you had dragged yourself from Tommy’s porch. The moment he had gotten close enough to reach for you, you had bolted, leaving his hand halfway raised into the air as he stared after you, wondering if he should follow you, or let you go.
When he’d arrived at Tommy and Maria’s one evening, hoping to talk to Tommy about his anxieties, he’d found something else. They were shielding you.
And yes, he had asked them to protect you, had trusted them with something he had never even fully trusted himself with, but god. Joel had never expected that they would protect you from him.
But now, here he was, standing in front of an old shop that had likely seen better days, two decades ago. Ellie was by his side, her hand gripping the sleeve of his coat tightly, before she released it to knock loudly against the shop door.
He had half-expected for you to not answer.
Seeing your face, properly, for the first time in months was not the moment Joel had hoped for it to be. Not when your expression had immediately fallen from something of confusion to anger, to something defensive.
“Hi.” Joel breathed, feeling like he should really kick himself for the pathetic attempt at a greeting. Ellie was close to trembling at his side, trying to stay indifferent, but even from the corner of his eye he could see that hope rising in her expression.
“What do you want?” You snapped at them, wanting nothing more than to close the door in their faces, to slam it shut and lock it, to never open it again. But you refrained, something in your chest balling tighter, but you couldn’t help the desire that arose for something. An explanation, maybe. A good enough reason for you to forgive them, perhaps.
Joel jumped in before Ellie could, saying, “Plates!” He saw Ellie’s head whip towards him, a dumbfounded expression painted across her face. He watched you blink in surprise, and saw your expression go towards indifference as you huffed, and moved away from the door, allowing him to push it open a bit more, pulling Ellie in with him. She closed it behind her.
The silence lingers as you busy yourself with fortifying a box, feeling bitterness creeping up your throat. You thought about why they needed plates, and could not grind your teeth together, somewhat hoping that the scratches and dents in the kitchen counters couldn’t be fixed.
“Listen,” Your head snapped up to him, knowing what came next, and saw the way he backed down, the word kid dying on his lips. He cleared his throat as you went back to taping the cardboard box. “We were hopin’… that, uh, we could all have a talk. Clear things up.”
“I don’t know, Joel,” You began, the bitterness falling off of your tongue with every word, “You guys leaving seemed clear enough to me.”
He hated how much older you sounded.
“We left because we had to, not because we wanted to.” Joel defended, immediately, feeling the hope that had been flickering in his chest for the past four weeks sputter out.
“I remember trying to come with you,” You said offhandedly, keeping your eyes on the cardboard box as you put the final third piece of duct tape across the bottom. “You said: ‘me and Ellie. Not you.’ Remember?”
Ellie’s expression fell further, somehow, and Joel gaped for a moment, flashing back to the way your own face had fallen at his words.
“I didn’t mean it like that,” He said your name, almost like a plead, and frowned when you just turned to go towards the back side of the room, beside a closed door. You ignored it, collecting some of the better looking plates that had been stacked up there. “I didn’t want you to get hurt. I know you never asked for any of this.”
“You’re right, I didn’t. I wanted to stay with you. That’s what I wanted. No matter what might’ve happened, I just wanted to be with you two. You took that from me.” You said, voice harsher than Joel had ever heard it, even from when he and Tess had first taken you in. Remembering that version of you was painful, because he saw no resemblance within the you that stood before him.
Ellie spoke up then, her eyebrows furrowed inwards as she became something far too close to angry as she said your name, “You have no idea what we’ve been through—”
“You’re right.” You cut her off, placing the stack of plates in the cardboard box with a loud thud, “I don’t. And who’s fault is that?”
You looked between the two of them, as if you were expecting the answer, but Joel couldn’t bring himself to say it. You were so grown up, and he couldn’t understand it. It had only been a few months.
At their silence, you scoffed, and shoved the box towards them, watching as Joel instinctively shot his hand out to prevent it from falling off of the edge of the counter. He took the box, feeling like it was far too heavy for what it was, but perhaps that was just the conversation.
“I want you guys to go now.” You said, firm, despite the way your voice tried to shake. You wouldn’t let your voice tremor, not in front of them. Not when they didn’t deserve your devastation.
Joel’s face fell, a common theme in each of your recent interactions, and couldn’t help the way he felt sick to his stomach. All those months ago, you had been asking to leave with them, and now here you were, looking at him with eyes that he didn’t recognise, telling him to leave.
“Come on, Ellie.” He said reluctantly, turning away from where you stood, chin held high.
“No!” Ellie replied loudly, her lip trembling as she looked between you and Joel, like she was expecting something to magically repair the rift between you. Unfortunately, this world was real, and it was ugly, and you weren’t sure that fixing things was even possible. “We— We can’t just give up.” She said, pleadingly, looking to Joel to fix things, like she was so used to him doing.
But Joel knew that this was something he couldn’t fix so easily. “We’re not giving up.” He responded then, training his gaze on you, where your eyebrows had furrowed and you had turned your face away from them.
“You should.” You told him, your own trembling lip matching Ellie’s, before you turned away fully, making the short few steps and entering the back room, shutting the door tightly behind you.

“You asshole!” You yelled, the moment you saw Tommy stood in the kitchen doorway of his home, with him having turned to face you at the sound of his front door slamming open. He looked confused, but you didn’t fall for that expression, even as he said your name in an even more confused tone.
You stormed over to him, pushing your hands against his chest and feeling him take a bracing step back, not stopping you. He held his hands up by his side, surrendering once again, and you couldn’t stop your eyes from stinging with tears.
“How could you fucking do that to me?” You asked almost desperately, pushing your palm against his shoulder again, and then you felt Maria step around him, place a hand toward you that you flinched back from.
“Do what?” Tommy questioned, dumbfounded, and holding a hand up toward Maria, who backed off at your blatant dismissal of comfort.
“Tell them about my shop!”
Tommy’s face became one of realisation, and Maria whacked a hand against his chest. He immediately looked guilty a moment after the realisation, and held his hands out towards you.
“I let it slip, I know, but I didn’t realise he’d noticed. I swear, I wouldn’t tell him that purposely. He came ‘round?” Tommy spoke, frowning when you took a step away from his hands as they reached for you. He couldn’t help but feel like Joel had unravelled all the trust he had built with you, and his frustration grew at the second realisation of the evening. You could only nod in response, your expression a mixture of anger and devastation. “I’m sorry, kiddo, I didn’t mean for that. Joel wants to fix things up, yeah, but—”
“Fix things? Tommy, how could he fix things?” You asked, your volume raising immediately as you cut him off. “Joel— He knew everything about me, and he chose to leave. He left me willingly! That isn’t… every time I see myself, I see those parts that he rejected. How do you fix that? Tell me how you fix that, and I’ll fucking do it, Tommy, but I can’t figure it out. How can you fix that? How can you forgive that?”
You were yelling, you knew you were, but you couldn’t stop yourself. Everything you had built in Jackson was shattering like those stupid plates in that stupid kitchen. Tears were falling down your face, and Tommy blurred away as your eyes continued to fill with them. It felt never ending, this whole situation did. How did you fix this? Could you?
“I don’t know.” Tommy admitted, feeling like his heart could tear from his chest as he looked at you, your breaths shaking as you tried to get through sobs, your face covered in tears, chest heaving. “But we’re going to figure this out. We’ve got you.”
He moved towards you, wrapping his arms around your shoulders when he realised you’d let him. He felt your arms tremble as they wrapped around him, and he stared past your head as he took notice of Joel frowning in the still-open doorway. They shared a look, and Tommy gave Joel an all too familiar expression, one that he used to give when Sarah would be upset. Too upset for anybody else but Joel to be present.
It felt strange, to Joel, not only to be on the receiving end of the look, but because it was concerning you. But what was he meant to do? How could he fix it?
Joel frowned, nodding at his younger brother, and closed their front door as he turned away, breathing out a sigh that felt far too heavy. He needed to figure this out.
“Come on,” Tommy said, after a few moments, when he was certain you hadn’t noticed Joel closing the door. He led you over to the sofa where Maria was waiting, and when you collapsed next to her, they held you between them until you fell asleep, face still wet from tears. “It’ll be okay.” He spoke, quietly, despite knowing you were asleep. He was half saying it to himself and Maria, too. They needed the reassurance just as much as you did.
Tommy decided then, that when you woke up in the morning, he would do his best to help you figure everything out. And as he shared a look with Maria, he knew that she’d be there, helping right at his side.

desperate | luke hughes
summary: luke’s girl has never had someone go down on her and he’d be damned if he didn’t change that
i believe this was a request but has been in my drafts for months...oops
warnings: smut, oral (f. receiving), teasing, begging, swearing
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Fuck, Luke.” You moaned into his lips. His hands gripped your thighs, perched on either side of his lap. You tugged at his thick curls as he trailed his lips down your jaw. He placed hot, wet kisses, making sure to leave a mark.
Luke’s hands traveled up your legs, grasping at your hips. He pulled you further into him, the feeling of his throbbing cock pressed against your core. His lips continued their assault downward, sucking between the valley of your breasts.
You tightly grabbed Luke’s broad shoulders, nails leaving angry red crescents in their wake. His light groans echoed in your ears. He began to work his way back up, dragging his tongue up the column of your neck. Luke pulled away to meet your blown-out eyes with his own. His chest was heaving with anticipation.
“I want to go down on you.” He blurted. Your eyes widened in shock, but the surprise was soon replaced with the timid batting of your lashes. Luke took note of the flush that covered your cheeks and ears. You swallowed thickly.
“I’ve, uh, I’ve never had someone go down on me.” You hushed out quickly. It was now Luke’s turn to be shocked. His eyebrows furrowed.
“So you’re telling me no one has ever made you cum on their tongue before?”  His crude words made your skin ignite with new desire. Fantasies of Luke’s tongue deep in your cunt flashed through your mind. Your breath picked up, which did not go unnoticed by Luke.
A comforting smile made home on his swollen lips, “I promise I’ll take good care of you, baby. I just want to taste you, I bet you taste like fucking candy.” Luke swiftly flipped you over, laying you down gently.
Sensing the uncertainty in your eyes, Luke reached to lock your fingers with his. “We don’t have to do anything, angel. Not if you aren’t comfortable.”  You shook your head.
“No, I want to. I-I’m just a bit nervous, that's all.” Luke placed a long, reassuring kiss on your lips.
“Okay, but if you want me to stop, tell me immediately.” He gave you a slight stare, before quickly removing his shirt. You just nodded in response, mouth going dry at the sight of his toned abdomen. You reached up to drag your hand over the ripples of hard muscle, taking note of every freckle and mark he had.
Luke’s heavy-lidded eyes bore into your own, an unknown flame dancing within the dark pools. He let his fingertips graze from your breasts down, goosebumps rising through each pass. Your hands gripped the sheets by your sides as he reached your panties.
He hooked his fingers through them, slowly slipping them down your legs. He didn’t fail to let his hands drag along the naked skin, sending volts straight to your core. After drawing your feet through, he placed a chaste kiss to the top of each ankle, marking his ascent up your calves.
Luke’s lips dragged teasingly up your thighs, which began to clench out of desperation.
“No, no, angel. Gotta keep those pretty thighs open for me.” He sucked in a harsh breath as you obeyed his demand, eyes glued to your glistening core.
“Fuck me.” You heard him growl lowly, “Such a pretty pussy, all wet for me.”
His words sent waves of electricity through your entire body. Your weeping hole pulsated at the lack of attention, wanting nothing more than Luke to bury his tongue deep inside. Your hips bucked pathetically, begging Luke to help.
“Please, Lukey. I need you so bad.” You whined, becoming restless at his hands that traveled in dangerous patterns around where you needed him most.
He took his lip between his teeth, burying a deep groan that threatened to escape his throat. The sounds of your whimpers making his cock twitch against his shorts.
“Why don’t you ask me nicely, angel. Tell me what you want.” He lowered his face to your dripping core, as more whines left your mouth.
“Please, please Luke! I, fuck,” you panted, “I need your tongue inside me.”
“See? Now that wasn’t so hard.” Luke wasted no time before attaching his lips to your swollen clit. Your back arched as searing pleasure plagued your mind.
“Shit! Lukey,” Almost pornographic moans left your body as you became unable to control your voice.
The sound of Luke’s mouth slurping at your aching cunt filled the room. His tounge danced in circles around your slit, sucking with just the right amount of pressure to drive you insane.
Your eyes rolled back as you brought your hands to Luke’s hair, gripping onto the curls for some grounding. His hands wrapped around your thighs, pulling you impossibly closer. His tongue brutally plunged in and out of your entrance.
Your slick pooled around his mouth, causing him to move with ease. Your hips moved of their own accord, grinding into his mouth, helping to ride his tongue.
Luke lifted for a moment, chin covered in arousal. His darkened eyes met yours in a heated match, before he returned his swollen, damp lips to your puffy clit.
Fire swelled in your lower belly, signaling the build of your impending orgasm. You dug your heels into Luke’s lower back as you trapped him between your legs.
Luke reached up with his right hand to intertwine it with your own.
Teetering on the edge, your cunt spasmed around him.
“Gonna cum for me, angel?” He looked up, gazing through his lashes while continuing his abuse to your clit, “Make a mess on my face, pretty girl. I know you can.”
The vibrations of his words were just enough to tip you over. The grip you had on his hand got tighter as your hips arched into his face. White-hot pleasure blinded your senses. Your ears rung as you felt your climax hit you.
Your eyes rolled back once more as your body twitched with orgasmic bliss. Luke continued to devour your cunt until you began to whine from overstimulation.
He pulled back, panting as he sat on his feet. Luke rested his hands on your knees, rubbing soothing circles into your, now sore, legs.
“You’re okay, angel.” He moved around to lay next to you, “Come back to me, baby.” Luke cradled your body, placing sweet kisses on your head until you came down from your high.
As your breath began to even out, you could only say one thing, “Holy fuck.”

21/12: Sunset & Orgasm Control - Tom Bennett Word Count: 1.9k~ | Warnings: p in v sex, edging, fingering, orgasm control, Tom being a bit of a prick (what's new) A/N: sorry this is kinda similar to the last one oops sue me
12 Days of Smuff Masterlist
Tumblr media
She's quiet, he notes, and fiddling with her hands like she's nervous. Her pumps click rhythmically with each step, the biting, winter cold slipping beneath their clothes.
Tom is cocky, mean sometimes, but never usually cruel, like he is being now.
But he figures he should make her sweat a bit, wondering why he's acting the twat that he is, while her pretty little head whirs around with possibilities at why he might be angry with her.
Even he can admit to himself, it's a silly reason.
He'd been looking forward to seeing her for weeks. With every letter exchanged, every glance at her photo from the pocket of his uniform, he couldn't wait to touch her again, to breathe in her perfume and feel her warm body against his.
He'd remembered his words to her before left.
"I could stay here, between your pretty thighs, all day love."
She had rolled her eyes, and told him that she was more than willing to let him try.
And after hours of grueling travel, crossing waters and land to see her, the first thing he saw when he stepped off the train to the platform was her talking to someone else.
To the twat down the road no less, who for one couldn't take no for an answer, and secondly, had been discharged from service on bullshit medical grounds, in reality too much of a coward to face real war.
Not that Tom could compare, he'd picked the Navy as a way of distancing himself as much as possible. But he didn't say he was perfect.
He remembered watching her for a good few seconds. It was midday, but she'd made the effort and dressed up all pretty, done her hair, to make herself look good to meet him off the train.
And he had to admit, she did look absolutely gorgeous, just as he'd remembered.
But there was a rancid taste in his mouth left over as he narrowed his eyes at them as they talked. She was clearly uncomfortable, but forced a smile to her face out of sheer politeness. And everytime he reached out to touch her arm, she took a baby step back.
Even that wasn't enough to pull him out of his now foul mood.
She smiled and nodded, grimacing as she stepped away from him and turned suddenly to see Tom, the man she had come to see, a smile lifting to her face in relief.
To be met with Tom's expression, stoic and seething, had her face fall.
She knew that look well enough.
So he walked with her silently to her flat on the edge of town, the usual few minutes stretching into an eternity. She's stuffed her hands in her pockets, eyes downcast, as if she was wondering what she'd done to upset him but dare not ask yet.
At least until they were in the comfort of her flat.
The warm wall hit Tom as he entered her living room with a deep sigh. Through his annoyance, the familiar smell of her had his chest all tight, but was much too proud to even break his mood.
He shucked his bag onto the floor, bending to sit at the dining table, his hat scrunched tight in one fist.
Tom watched her as she pulled her coat off, able now to see the dress she'd picked. His favourite one of hers.
It almost made him feel bad, being this much of a twat when he saw how much effort she'd put into looking nice for him so eagerly.
“Tea?” She asks, raising her gaze briefly to him. And when all he gives is a curt nod, she sighs softly and puts the kettle on the stove, lighting the gas and waiting.
Any second now, he thinks, his finger tapping on the wood surface of the table, leg bouncing impatiently.
“Have I done something?” She asks, so quietly and kindly that it nearly, nearly breaks him. Makes him want to rip all her clothes off and let her know who she belongs to, after all his time at sea, the idea is all the more tempting.
His jaw tightens, “Don't know what you mean.”
“I think you do, Tom. You've not said a word to me. Come on, please.”
He sighs. It's a mistake looking at her. She gives him those eyes.
When he stands, she is reminded of his sheer size, his height, the broadness of his shoulders all but accentuated by the boxy uniform he wears. The early afternoon sun pours through the single glazing onto one side of his face, in such an amber glow that one might expect it to be setting already.
The winter sun looked good on Tom Bennett’s lazy stubble that coated his chiselled jawline.
She swallowed over the lump in her throat as he leaned over her, using his arms either side of her to cage her in against the kitchen counter. His usual mischief in his blue eyes is all but gone, and he bites his lip in annoyance, making the muscle of his jaw twitch.
“You get all nice and dressed up for him, hm?”
Her wide-eyed, terrified expression was too fucking adorable, he nearly let a smirk slip by.
“Who?”
He scoffed quietly, “That prick on the platform you were talking to so eagerly.”
He knew it was a lie, but it was too tempting to tease her. Knowing she’d flounder.
“What on earth are you-”
“Trying to impress him, are ya?” Tom was only human, and at the thought he was flustering her, he grinned.
“Tom, I was just being nice!”
He scoffed, showing his teeth as he smiled, “bit over the top though, wasn't it love?”
“What do you want me to do? Bat away every man who speaks to me?”
“That'd be a start, yeah.”
“See, now you're just being-” she started, but was swiftly interrupted with Tom surging forwards to her, his chest bumping against hers, his lips parting hers with ease and sliding his tongue against hers.
His motions were quick and calculated, one hand grabbing her waist, while the other worked swiftly to pull the hem of her dress up, his two long, slender fingers stealing between her thighs to feel how aroused she was.
He was pleased at what he found.
“Miss me, did ya?”
He saw her grip on the counter behind her tighten as he teased her through the thin fabric that separated their flesh.
Months and months of separation was pouring out of him into his actions on her.
She shook her head at him with a smile, breathing elevating by the second as his deft fingers slid down the front of her underwear, “you're such a-”
“Hm?” He smirked, sinking two of his fingers into her warm agonisingly slowly, curving upwards towards the top of her walls to massage that spot he knew so well.
He didn't need her to finish the sentence. He knew he was a cheeky bastard.
Tumblr media
Tom was never one for soft touches, gentle kisses or words of utter devotion. Usually, anyway. He was much too proud for that.
He showed his possessiveness over her in many different ways. With a quirk of his lips, the grip of his fingers on her thigh and with incessant and brutal lovemaking.
Time slid by slowly after they'd returned to her flat, all of their actions drunkenly merging into one long moment of heavy breaths and their skin pressing against each other hotly.
Tom was quite impressed he'd managed to stay between her legs for hours, all without giving her the luxury of an orgasm.
It felt cruel doing it. But he was, in his own way, punishing her.
He held his hands against either side of her waist, shallowly pushing his hips against her backside with a lazy, languid pace. Hitting her sweet spot, but at the same time, lacking the intensity for it to really build into anything.
Her curls had fallen into waves with the exertion of the past few hours, and she was tired, her cheeks all flushed both with exhaustion, and all's frustration at being denied what she really wanted.
Her grip was tight on the windowsill in front of her, the winter sun almost touching the horizon.
“Christ, if anyone walked by right now, love.” He smirked, his thumbs sitting in the dimples above her backside, looking down between them at the way his length was slick with her arousal between rapid thrusts.
He nearly lost it when her walls fluttered around him, nearly sending him over the edge as well. The idea of anyone walking by the window, despite being on the first floor, was still exciting.
“Tom, please…”
“Ah, you'd like that, would ya?” He asked lowly, leaning over her and whispering against the shell of her ear, “who knew you were such a dirty girl, hm?”
He heard and felt the telltale signs she was close again. She inadvertently tightened around him, her breaths coming all quick and her voice strained.
“Tommy…” she whimpered, turning slightly to try and capture his lips, groaning in frustration as he pulled away with a smug smile.
“Stop whinging, now. Sun's not set yet.”
She opened her bleary eyes to the horizon. The sun, annoyingly, had only just touched the skyline. And the repeated feeling of Tom stretching and filling her impossibly was beginning to crest without effort.
She moaned as Tom's full lips parted and bit at her neck, “If he could see you now. Fucking soaked and eager for me.”
Humiliation burned in her blood with every word he said, his pace never faltering even once. She wondered, briefly, how Tom was able to go on this long. But he was pent up and enjoying watching her teeter on the precipice of falling apart.
And it was just too tempting for him to even think about stopping.
Tom glanced up though, and saw the sun was slowly beginning to set, agonisingly slow, and a smirk split across his face.
His hand made its way around her face, gently pulling her face up to the amber glow of the sunset, “come on then, love. Let go for me.”
Tom delighted in the reaction he got from her, her whole body wracked with pleasure. All at once, heat flooded her limbs, making them tremble, and the sheer sound she lets out is enough in itself to make Tom fall apart right after her.
But it's her tightening around him that gets him in the end.
His face contorts as the pleasure burns in his veins, pulling out of her quickly, his dog tag necklace feels cool to the touch against his bare chest as he breathes, fisting his length and letting a shuddered groan slip as he paints the soft skin of her backside with his release.
If it feels like this for him, having been close to orgasm for hours, he can't imagine how it feels for her.
He pulls her up against his chest, his lips leaving lazy, open-mouthed kisses on her neck as their breaths and hearts slowly return to normal.
“You're not angry?...”, she managed between laboured breaths.
Tom chuckled lightly, his breath running hot over her neck, “Don't fret, love. I was only pulling ya leg.”
She smacked his arm playfully, both of them looking out onto the sky as the setting sun set it alight briefly before the darkness chased it away.
“You're a cheeky bastard, Tom Bennett.” She mused softly, in a way which made it clear she was smiling.
He tightened his arms around her, resting his chin on the crown of her head, “tell me something I don't know, darlin’.”

Please and thank you! May you have the best day 🫶
frosted hymnal
pairing: melissa schemmenti x gn!reader

translations: bambino (baby), cara (dear), tua stellina (your little star)
note: this one is a bit personal to me, especially in the details and a family tradition i snuck in. i’m also not feeling very festive and ‘hell yeah christmas’ due to similar things i put in which is why this reads more h/c than holiday cheer oops
Tumblr media
Ever since that balmy night in August when you’d gotten a call from your aunt as you ate dinner, laughing at Melissa’s recount of her conversation with Barbara earlier in the day. As the phone cuts her off unexpectedly, you swallow your laughter as you say a greeting into the phone. Immediately, your smile drops and your eyes flick to Melissa’s, already red and a fist clenching and unclenching as you listen.
“Thank you for calling,” you say with a shaky voice, barely making it out before you gasped for breath. Another beat as your aunt says more to you, “yeah, I will. Love you, too. Bye.” The moment the call ends, your head falls into your hands and tears fall. Melissa is immediately next to you, pulling you into her. Her lips press into your hairline, just letting you lean on her and let it all out.
You’d just talked to your grandfather three days before.
For days after, you hardly spoke, ate, or even moved from the bed. Your arms stayed locked around Melissa unless she had to step away, only then would her pillow take her place. She barely knew what to do, most of her family were angry when in mourning, much like herself; she’d broken half her picture frames and almost her hand when she found out about her grandmother. This eerie silence, the lack of anything from you, it was different, and it scared her even if she didn’t want to admit it. It took days to get you downstairs, a week to get you into the sun in the backyard. Melissa just held you until you quietly asked to go with her to the store after two weeks, the same quiet tone that filtered into most gatherings since.
She’d noticed it at Thanksgiving, the silence and the empty stare when no one was interacting with you. First holidays are always the hardest, she’d felt the same when her Nana passed away, but that was years ago and she’d had everyone around her where your family was states away. You spent the holiday pressed into Melissa’s side, only speaking when spoken to, hand gripping hers for dear life. Aunt Deb tried not to look offended when you barely touched the famous apple pie that you usually inhaled.
It had been Grandpa’s favorite.
The silence and the stare never really went away as the table runners went from orange to red and green, apples and pumpkins became evergreens and snowflakes. Melissa tried to stay discreet in how she watched you detangle the gold beads that wrap around the tree, robotic movements and pursed lips. Slowly, she moved from the couch to the spot next to you with her ornaments and hooks, shuffling closer to you to gain your attention.
You turn to look at her for a moment, a tiny smile stretching your lips before your eyes go back to the beads in your lap. The redhead takes the chance to prop her chin on your shoulder, making you turn back to her again, tilting your head back to get a proper look at her. Cold fingers brush her hair behind her ear while you admire her, a low voice speaking to her for the first time in an hour, “hi, pretty.”
“Hi, amore,” she murmurs back, a gentle kiss placed to your shoulder over your sweater, “you’re awfully quiet over here by your lonesome.”
You huff a little laugh through your nose, “I’m sorry, I’ve just been spacing out while I untangle these damned things,” you hold up the beads, “seriously, did you tie these in knots before I put them in the attic last year?”
“All part of my secret plan to keep you here forever,” she jokes as she shoves the ornaments away to help you with detangling.
Melissa delights in the first smile she’s seen from you all day as you shake your head at her answer. Leaning in quickly, you press a kiss to her cheek and quietly say, “like I was planning on going anywhere.”
Half of The Apartment and two glasses of wine later, you both finally get the beads untangled and wrapped around the tree. Basic ornaments went first, then the intricate ones that had been gifted by Barbara from the craft store were next, followed by the more personal ones with names, dates, and pictures within. A fireplace ornament with a photo of you two in it made you pause and let a little smile on your face, but it dropped when you remembered who had taken the picture and hand written your names on the bottom. Melissa sees the warmth in you go cold, taking the ornament from your hands and placing it on a branch for you, front and center.
“Hon, we can hold off on this if you need us to,” she says with a gentle tone, as if the right volume would shatter you into pieces. Melissa had watched you sluggishly place ornaments on the tree, for every three she got on there, you’d only put up one. The blank stare that had appeared at Thanksgiving was even more pronounced, and every conversation about holidays and holiday shopping had been borderline dismissed unless absolutely necessary.
The sigh she gets as an initial answer is less than desirable for a response. You turn away to grab a penguin on skis, breathing out a real answer, “it’s fine, babe, really. I just want to get this over with.”
That was certainly not what she expected. She normally had to hold you back from decorating before Halloween even ended, by the last trick-or-treater you already had a plan for the decor for the winter months. Sure you’d brought down the boxes for her, not letting her help at all since she always complains about her back afterwards, and yeah, you pulled out the Ella Fitzgerald Christmas album, but only at her request. There was no bounce in your steps, no obnoxious lovely singing of carols, not even the reindeer antler headband had made an appearance when decorating. As much as she poked fun at you for all of it, she found herself missing it more than anything at this moment. Simply hungering for your unbridled joy during the season.
Even though her own shoulders deflate, Melissa steps towards you, arms wrapping around your middle. Immediately she feels you give into her, leaning fully and melting into her arms. Her lips pressed to the side of your head, “it’ll get done anyways. Why don’t we take a break? We have the weekend, honey.”
“Can we just finish it now?” you murmur as if you’re afraid she’ll get mad. In truth, you just want it to be over so that you don’t have to think about it anymore, pretend the holiday isn’t even happening. You turn in her arms and move your hands to hold her face, “I just want to lay down and watch movies with you all weekend and eat the cookie dough that’s in the freezer.”
“That dough is for my students, so keep your grubby little hands away from it,” she jokes to lighten your mood, which works fractionally given your soft laugh. She leans to kiss your cheek, “how about I’ll make some brownies while you wrap this up?” She gestures to the remaining ornaments on the coffee table. Your nod and smile have more life to them, making her grin and press a short kiss to your lips, pulling away despite your insistence to make it last.
She watches you from the doorway for a moment, watching you stare at the tree as you mentally mapped where the ornaments should go, almost akin to your usual behavior. Melissa takes the distraction and runs with it, calling your aunt as she pulls out cocoa powder and sugar.
Melissa keeps her voice low as she asks your aunt questions, and slows down as she repeats her address for your aunt. The next call she makes is to her own mother, knowing that Giorgia is near god-level when it comes to sewing, having made every blanket and bunny for her grand and great-grandchildren.
The night ends with only half of the brownie she gave you being eaten while you lay on top of Melissa, head tucked into her neck and a tight grip on her shirt. She resides herself to the knowledge her back will hurt in the morning, but your steady breathing and weight against her was enough to not care.
The last day of school before winter break arrives, finally. The next two weeks were going to give Melissa the peace she had been waiting for, especially for you. Half of her lunch today was spent worrying about you when you came in late with redlined eyes, evidence of your tears in the corner of your eye. You waved off concerned glances and questioning looks, just giving a look to your girlfriend that you would tell her later. Under the table, she knocks her foot with yours and keeps it there, a silent I got you.
Getting out of the car, you immediately turn when Melissa doesn’t join you, “where are you going?”
“I gotta run over to Ma’s, I’ll be back in twenty minutes,” she says, crossing her fingers that you won’t press more, “I promise.” Your eyes give her a once over before you nod and turn back towards the house. She pipes up again, trying to ease the guilt of not being able to spill the beans, “no kiss?”
You laugh from your spot at the front door, calling over your shoulder, “you can come collect when you get home, ditcher.”
At her mother’s she is given the creation already wrapped since it was “perfect” and looking would be “questioning the genius at work,” so she doesn’t peek, knowing her mother adored you too much to have screwed this up. Pulling into the driveway, she moves quickly to not gain your attention, slipping inside to run upstairs before the door even shuts. She hides the box in the spare bedroom closet, praying that you won’t feel the need to remake the whole bed over the weekend.
As she descends and joins you back in the kitchen, she sees your rigid posture as you stand over the stovetop. Soup. You always make soup when you’re sad, always watching it simmer and bubble, stirring near constant like the spoon is pushing your thoughts around and not the vegetables. Before she can wrap herself around you, you’re already turned to the side with an arm out, inviting her into your embrace. Melissa quickly accepts, taking the moment to bury herself in your neck, holding your waist tight as one of your hands rests on her back, the other still stirring.
“What happened at lunch?” she asks from her hiding place, pressing a soft kiss to your jaw.
Your blunt nails scratch her upper back as you speak, “Tamika gave me a card and was telling me all about her Christmas plans this year.” There it was. Tamika lived with her grandparents, and Melissa remembers from when she was her student that the girl was very close with her grandfather, always talking about their weekend adventures. You sigh as you play with amber waves, “I just needed time to cool down before I came to lunch. If I came in crying, I would probably still have Janine glued to my hip right now.”
Melissa just squeezes you tighter, “text me next time, won’t you? I could’ve been there for you, you don’t have to do this ‘suffer in silence’ bullcrap.”
“I know-”
“I don’t wanna hear it. You need me, you get me. Got it?” Despite her serious words, her tone is soft, telling you that she means every word, and that these words are coming from her heart.
“Yes ma’am,” you mumble, kissing her hair as she tucks into you more.
Christmas Eve at the Schemmenti house was loud, very, very loud. Melissa’s eyes were drawn to you every few minutes, gauging your reactions and facial expressions, knowing full well you’ll put on a face for everyone else that only she can see through. Her heart beat speeds up as she sees no sign of anything on your face as the nieces and nephews are practically climbing you like a jungle gym, all vying for your uninterrupted attention. When Giorgia finally allows everyone into the kitchen again, you enter with Michael over your shoulder like a sack of potatoes, plopping him into his booster seat as he giggles and squirms.
Falling into your designated seat in between the toddler and Melissa, you’re met immediately with a hand squeezing your thigh. You can feel the silent question in her touch, responding with your own squeeze of her hand, an answer telling her that yes, you’re okay. Giorgia captures your attention as she passes the bolognese over to you, but Melissa’s eyes stay on you and the crinkles around your eyes.
“Bambino,” Girogia says later on, pulling your eyes away from the kids playing together, “you’ve barely touched the tiramisu, I know it’s your favorite. Not even a second slice?” Leave it to Giorgia to ask you how you are without actually saying the words.
“Ma,” Melissa begins to warn, but stops as your hand falls on top of her on the table.
“I’m okay, mamma,” you say with a little smile at her concern, “I just don’t wanna eat too much of one thing and not get to enjoy the rest.” Unconvinced, but knowing not to pry, she cuts out another square of the desert and puts it on your plate. There is no room for refusal, so you dig your fork in and pray to whoever may be watching that neither woman notices your hand shaking. As the kids open their singular gifts for Christmas Eve, there’s a notable lack of smile on your face, unless one of the kids is looking right at you. The smile seems to come out easiest for them, but Melissa can see how quickly it falls once the attention is gone. She wonders if you’ve been doing the same around her when she’s been able to get a smile from you the last few days.
Everyone began leaving shortly after, most of the kids getting tired and cranky. Though she was half asleep in her father’s arms, Nicolette made a point to drag herself over to you to hug tightly before she left, barely wanting to let go. Vinny has to pry her off of you with a promise that she’ll see you in a week for New Year’s, though you end up having to give her a pinky promise to seal the deal. Melissa thinks that may have been the most you’ve smiled in months.
Once the kids and cousins are all gone, the redhead allows herself to drape across you, mumbling into your ear, “ready to go home?” She gets a nod as a response, your eyes shutting as you bask in her touch for a few selfish seconds. Saying goodbye to Giorgia, though never a want, was a must by the end of the night, your off-behavior making it that two Schemmenti women had eagle eyes set on you. Two big kisses to the cheek and a ciao set you free from the house, Melissa’s hand only ever disconnects from yours as you get into the car.
That night, Melissa and you lay in bed watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas while you braided little sections of her hair, releasing them and rebraiding every few minutes. Your fingers trailed from her hair for her forehead, gently gliding down to her chin to tilt her face up towards you. Her lips stretch into a smile as she watches you look down at her in adoration, eyes soft and searching over her face. Leaning over her in your lap, you relish in her smile growing at the sudden closeness.
She pushes up, pressing her lips to your shortly. Sitting up and turning to face you, she kissed you again, pushing you back into the pillows. Melissa’s hands gripped your hips while yours came to her face, thumbs gently caressing her warm skin. Whining as she pulls away becomes laughter when she presses kisses across your face, settling a last kiss to your lips.
You stay cupping her face as you take your turn to stare up at her. In a quiet voice, as if you were afraid to ruin the moment, you say, “I’m sorry for being such a downer lately.”
A kiss to your cheek, “you’re not a downer, you’re grieving. It just feels different this year and it sucks. You can be all sad, and I get to hug and spoil you without you complaining about it.”
“Name one time I complained about you kissing me, I’ll wait,” you say with fake indignation, before she can answer, you cut her off, “you can’t, don’t even try.” When she laughs, you feel it as you still hold her face, staring up at her dumbfounded.
“What?” she asks when she notices that difference in your gaze.
Your thumb brushes over her bottom lip, catching slightly, “I just love you so, so much.”
“I love you, too,” her lips press to your thumb. Her eyes shift to the clock on her nightstand, 12:02 AM stares back at her, “merry Christmas, baby.”
Your only response is pulling her down to kiss her again.
The sun wasn’t even up yet, why the fuck did she think this was a good idea?
The better part of the early morning was spent desperately searching how to get her laptop connected to the TV, and God forbid the sound works one of these times. Melissa is just about to scream into a throw pillow before the screen lit up and the tester video finally played through the speakers. She got her present for you all situated, wondering how the ones for her got there without you waking her up, she’d both fallen asleep and woken up on top of you. After what felt like six hours but was only two, she slowly moves upstairs to wake you up, but is met with you groggily sitting up in bed.-
“I’m surprised you’re up already,” she says as she moves closer to you, her arms raising to rest on your shoulders. Your own go around her waist, pulling her in until she’s straddling your lap, hands pushing under her shirt to warm against her torso.
“It was too quiet, no one was snoring in my face,” you mumble, smile stretching across before wincing as she smacks your shoulder, “you wound me, I may never recover.”
She can’t hide her laugh, “if this ends with you saying the cure is taking my shirt off, it is too fucking cold in here and you can stay wounded.”
“I thought you loved me,” you huff as you flop back down on the bed.
Melissa leans over you, “would breakfast and presents work?”
“She really does love me,” you say with a giggle as you push up to kiss her quickly before patting her thigh to ease her off of you.
When you walk downstairs, you almost completely walk past the TV without noticing half your family on the screen, waving as they see you. Nearly jumping out of your skin makes them laugh, but your attention goes to Melissa. She just points at the laptop, showing you that the call is live, that your family is sorta-here for the holiday. There’s heavy effort that goes into making sure you don’t start crying on the spot, overwhelmed by the work that you know Melissa put into getting everyone on the call together.
“Merry Christmas guys,” you say, waving at your nephews as they start cramming into the camera, desperately trying to reach you through the screen.
“Aunt Mellie said we surprising you,” the oldest one yells, grinning with a front tooth growing in.
You smile, hands almost reaching like you wanted to grab him, “oh, you did, you totally did, buddy.” Turning back to Melissa you walk into her opening arms, needing to express the love for her that felt like Coke and Mentos in your chest. “I love you, I love you, I love you,” you murmur into her neck as she sways you from left to right.
The rest of the morning is spent watching the kids open their presents from you and Melissa on the video call, listening to your cousins, aunts, and uncles update you on everything, and staring at Melissa as she talked easily with your family. She’s so good with them, and more importantly, they’re good with her, most of the little kids already prefer her to you anyways. Who are you to complain, you already know she’s the best.
When everyone hangs up, the tears in your eyes are no longer sad, but happy, carefree. Melissa put an arm around your shoulders, “have a good morning, hon?”
“You did all that for me,” it’s not really a question, moreso a statement of disbelief.
She nods, “I got one more thing, even though it does break the ‘only a stocking’ rule.” Your face screams unimpressed, she’s the one who said if it couldn’t fit in a stocking, neither of you could get it for the other. Before you can argue she amends her statement, “there was no purchase involved, cross my heart.” That seems to get the irritation off your face.
From behind the tree, she pulls out a box in ice blue wrapping paper, paper you recognized from her mother’s house. You eye her carefully, but her face gives nothing away, only the fidgeting of her sleeves says that this was a big deal to her. Carefully, you undo every piece of tape, pulling out a which box. Melissa’s hand urges you to open the box, nodding at you even though her eyes stay trained on the lid until your hand begins to open it.
In the box is a teddy bear, a worn-maroon color, tortoise shell buttons for eyes. Your thumb runs over the fabric, eyes flicking across it as the bear starts to feel familiar. Raising it to your nose and inhaling, there’s a lingering scent of wood and shoeshine, and this indescribable smell that brought you back to hanging clothes on the line at your grandparents house. It was his shirt, it was your grandfather’s lucky shirt. He’d worn this shirt the day you were born, when each of the grandkids graduated high school or college, and to every anniversary date with grandma.
Tears fall down your cheeks freely. Looking up at Melissa, she seems unsure of what to do, finding it hard to look at you while you look at the bear. Flying out of your seat, you launch yourself at Melissa, knocking her backwards onto the couch, “thank you. Thank you so much. This is so... you’re too perfect, thank you.”
“I’m glad you like it,” she answers as she holds you to her tightly.
“I love it,” you press a kiss to her skin. You trace your finger over the stitching on the arm, recognizing the pattern, “did your mom do this?”
“She did. I called your aunt and asked her to send a shirt, and gave it to Ma at a dinner a few weeks ago to make into a bear or rabbit or whatever she could with the material,” Melissa clears her throat, “this way, you can give the old man a hug whenever you need one.” The sincerity and adoration in her gift, her words, her actions, were all too much. She felt a choked sob against her as fresh tears fell, mutterings of I love you from both of you.
The cocoa on the table went cold, the breakfast she was going to make completely forgotten. Melissa was never one to care this much about what she got from or gave to other people during the holidays, truthfully she threw out almost everything anyone by you or Barbara gave her, save for the pencils from her students. Sure the novelty items were great, and the scratch tickets weren’t bad either, but she liked the look on your face seeing that bear more than anything she’d ever get.
This was everything. You in her arms, holding onto her, kissing her face everywhere as the appreciation and love for her overflowed into the living room. Nothing else has or will ever matter as much as this, as much as you with her in this moment.
“Merry Christmas, baby,” she whispers into the space between you.
“Merry Christmas, gorgeous,” you answer, closing that space.
happy holidays my angels, love u all ❄️
as always, feedback appreciated <3

As (Name) got ready to fight, the sound of whimpering and scraping filled the small enclosed space, making her wince. Before she could say anything, something started to crawl into the little guy from the middle of the tunnel.
“Oh my god.”
A centaur-like chimera ant led two human beings on leashes, forcing them to walk on their hands and knees. “Keep it down, you two.”
The ant pulled on their leashes, causing the poor men to choke. “Who are you guys? How dare you intrude on my turf?”
“Help… please help us!” one of the unfortunate men called out, tears running down his face. (Name) began to walk forward, but her arm was caught by Kite. He gave her a stern yet sympathetic look before letting her go. She bit her lip, staying in her spot.
“Stop talking Spot! You’re just a dog!”
(Name)’s eyes went wide with shock as the ant stomped on the man’s head, killing him instantly. Could she have saved him if she acted? “Oops, didn’t mean to do that. Oh well, I’m getting bored with these guys. Guess I’ll get rid of Rover, too.”
The surviving man panicked, trying his best to act like a pathetic, begging dog. It was a desperate attempt at survival, one that was in vain. “When you beg like that, I just want to kill you more.”
“STOP IT!”
Kite caught Gon’s arm this time as the boy lunged, causing him to look back. “Don’t move carelessly. There’s more than one enemy. They want you to rush over.”
Two more ants walked out of the separate caves, cackling as the centaur ended the other man’s life. Gon and (Name) looked away, which caused them to be scolded by Kite.
“Don’t look away! If they shoot a projectile your way, you won’t be able to see it.”
The two nodded slowly, and (Name) lightly brushed her hand against Gon’s, an attempt at comfort. It was her way of saying they were in this together, and that she understood. It wasn’t much, but his heartbeat did calm down slightly, and he couldn’t help but spare her a thankful glance.
“I’ve got it. You three will be my new dogs.”
(Name) tilted her head as the centaur ant the pointed to her. “And you? You will be my mate.”
The entire room went quiet, (Name) blinking rapidly, looking back at forth at the ant, Kite, Killua, and Gon. “Did… did I hear that correctly?”
Killua and Gon stood there in shock, looking both disgusted and angry at the same time. Kite looked as calm and collected as always, but he seemed slightly tense in his shoulders, as if he were holding himself back. “Chimera ants have always been aggressive, but it seems consuming malicious humans has made them even more evil.”
“H-huh? What do you mean?” Gon asked, still recovering from the chimera ant’s words. He hated that (Name) had been signaled out and disrespected. It only fueled his anger and resentment towards the creatures.
“Phagogenesis.” Killua answered.
“If we don’t deal with them here, many more will die!” Kite exclaimed. In response to his words, their auras spiked as they got ready to battle.
“Capture them!” the centaur ant ordered the other ants with a point of his finger, causing them to launch forward.
“I’ll take the one in the back. You boys will have to deal with the two rushing us. (Name) you’ll provide support, be ready to use your ability when needed.”
(Name) sighed in relief, then paused for a second to turn and look at Kite. She wanted to fight too, but she wouldn’t disobey him. There was most likely a very good reason he was making her stay back, either for her own well being, or for the boys’.
“Right!”
“Got it!
“Do not hesitate. You must fight to kill.”
As the two ran to fight the ants, Kite and (Name) stayed behind, staring down the centaur ant in front of them. It looked at her hungrily, licking its lips and chuckling under its breath. (Name) tried not to forget Kite’s words and kept a good eye on the beast, even when it grinned and purred lowly, biting its lip as it looked her up and down.
She was just glad the boys were there to see the way it looked at her, it grossed her out and was plainly disrespectful. Kite didn’t say anything, but stayed within an inch of her, his hip nearly touching hers. It was reassuring, a way for him to say he would protect her if needed.
“A lesson for you, (Name).” Kite said softly, his eyes trained on the ant. “A cocky opponent will let down their guard in front of someone they perceive as weak. Sometimes using your own weakness to your advantage is a good way to win a fight against someone that may be stronger than you.”
The ant watched as (Name) and Kite talked quietly, the two never looking away from it as they whispered back in forth. The creature sighed, cracking its neck in boredom.
“Hey. We should get started soon.”
Kite waves his hand dismissively. “Wait a little longer.”
“Screw that! You don’t have a choice in the matter,” it licked its lip, glancing between the two. “Now entertain me.”
“Very well.”
As Kite’s aura rose, (Name) darted to the left. The ant paid her no mind, focusing on the threat in front of him. She used this opportunity to go over to Killua, who had been injured during his fight.
(Name) approached him, crouching down to his level. “Are you alright?”
“I’m fine, the poison can’t-“
“Poison!?”
Killua groaned as she fussed over him, lifting up the back of his shirt. “Killua, does it not hurt? I’ll heal it, don’t worry.”
She placed her hand over the wound, closing her eyes in concentration. “It’ll feel better soon.”
He softened ever so slightly. (Name) was probably the only person that ever truly worried over him, that considered him a child. Gon cared about him sure, but he knew what Killua could and couldn’t take and didn’t worry.
But she worried regardless. When he was hurt, she wanted to make it better. As the wound stitched itself back together, he reached out and held her free hand. “Thanks, (Name).”
She smiled in reply, handing him a granola bar once it was healed. “Here, when I heal a wound it uses your stamina. Your stamina specifically is pretty high, but eating a snack will make sure you stay energetic.”
He took it, unwrapping the bar before taking a big bite. “Mmph… weird, I didn’t think I was that hungry…”
After devouring the bar, Killua joined the others, (Name) following behind him. “Oh it’s him!”
“The thing that shot us!”
Kite, having already defeated his enemy, had his nen activated. “I got a slot machine in my mouth! It goes from 1 to 9. Each number summons a different weapon. This is my Crazy Shot! Don’t forget the name!”
“Just go away…” Kite said, the weapon disappearing.
(Name) healed Gon’s wounds as the others talked, giving him a granola bar as well.
———————
As they made their way out of the cave, Kite continued to speak. (Name) didn’t pay much attention, too busy sorting through her backpack and trying to calm her nerves.
“Let’s hurry, the nest is close.”
That caught her attention.
The forest was dark, all of the animals had gone silent. It felt tense, especially when Gon looked to be on high alert. Usually, when Gon was tense, that meant something was about to happen. After all, his instincts were incredibly sharp.
Killua looked on guard as well, glancing between the gaps in the canopy. He stood close to (Name) as Kite sighed. “We’re surrounded.”
(Name) froze, the only part of her body that moved was her eyes. She searches the tree line for any movement, but it was too dark for her eyes to see.
“Their numbers are great.”
The bushes next to them exploded, along with things falling from the sky. They all landed in front of the four. “Now, then… let’s decide order and methodology. As for our targets, you have three choices. One..”
(Name) reached for Killua’s hand, trying to comfort herself more than him.
“Decide the order in which you will fight. Two, attempt to escape. Three, give up and let us capture you. If you choose option one, you will fight one-on-one battles with us for a chance to survive. I don’t recommend the second option. You’ll anger us, resulting in a brutal capture and prolonged suffering for all of you. Option three is out of the question. That would anger us even more than option two. So, what will you do?”
She felt like she was being leered at again. Each creature stared at her, licking their lips and making strange sounds.
Gon frowned. He was still feeling angry from the disrespect (Name) faced earlier, and from all of the death and pain those creatures had caused. “Kite.”
“We couldn’t have asked for a better deal. One-on-one fights with their Captains. We’ll start with whoever is prepared to fight.”
Killua stepped forward, in front of (Name). “I’ll go.”
“No I will!” Gon said, and the two immediately faced each other to play rock paper scissors. Gon was the Victor.
“Okay, I’m going first!”
————————
After Killua and Gon's fight, Kite pushed name to the front. "She'll be going next."
Killa froze, his hand shooting out to grab her arm.
"Wait, I can go again. She doesn't need to-"
"She's going, that's final."
His words left no room to argue. Killua let go of (Name) hesitantly, a slight shake in his hand for a split second before he was able to hide it.
... Killua, I'll be okay. I've been training too, remember?"
She handed him her backpack, taking a deep breath.
"Watch that for me, okay?"
The other chimera ants chittered and laughed as her opponent stepped forward. The creature was tall, looking like a large, muscular moth with brown wings. It stared down are her, it’s shadow covering her completely. “This is who I get to fight? She’s the size of a baby bear. I could crush her with one hand.”
“Did… did you just compare me to a bear?”
The ant attempted to reach its massive hand out to crush her head, but she dodged to the side. “H-hey, we haven’t started fighting y-“
The ant kneed her in the stomach, sending her flying in the opposite direction. “(Name)!”
Killua began to run forward to go and help her, but was pulled back by the collar of his shirt. “Don’t. You’ll only provoke the rest of them and make (Name) lose focus.”
The boy growled, planting his feet on the ground. He watched as she slowly got back up as the massive chimera ant approached her. “Done already? And after those two children showed you up. How pathetic.”
She wiped the blood from her mouth silently, her aura spiking. “Huh, it really does take just a single touch.”
The ant blinked in confusion as its comrades watched on in horror. The leg it used to kick her was withering away, the pain only now catching up to it. “W-what did you do to me!?”
It tried to rush her, but fell as the effect spread, causing him to fall as his legs became nothing but ash. She easily stepped out of its range. “I’m just speeding up what would have happened to you anyways. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust as they say.”
With that, her fight was over. As she joined the others, Gon and Killua stared on in awe and a bit of fear. “(Name), that was-“
“Scary.” Killua finished Gon’s sentence.
She smiled tiredly, sitting down. “Yeah, it’s something Kite suggested I try. Took a lot out of me and I had to get pretty close to my enemy to use it, but I think I can train myself to eventually have more control over it. Maybe I can even eventually use it from a distance someday!”
Kite walked forward, summoning his weapon as the others chatted.
“That’s enough… it’s my turn!”
The frog like ant stepped forward as Crazy Slots rolled a 2. “Two, huh? Damn, bad spin.”
A scythe appeared in his hands, the blade so long it nearly wrapped around him.
“Killua, (Name)…”
“That scythe is nasty.”
“Gon, Killua, (Name). In three seconds, jump up.”
And they did, all three of them leaping into the air and barely missing the attack that wiped out the entire group of chimera ants.
“Be cautious as we advance. As I mentioned, that won’t be enough to kill them immediately. Are you okay?”
“Huh?”
“It’s only getting worse from here. If you start to sympathize with the enemy, you won’t be able to handle what’s coming.”
“Im fine. I have no sympathy for bugs that call each other trash.”
Kite, Gon, (Nams), and Killga headed towards the Chimera Ant Queen’s castle to prevent the king’s birth.
————————
They continued their journey, (Name) struggling a little to keep up after using her ability. She absentmindedly munched on a granola bar, Killua staying back a little to keep an eye on her.
They all stopped when Kite did, waiting for him to speak. “We’re being followed.”
They quickly turned around. “Not from there.”
He looked up, frowning. “There’s quite a number of them.”
Several Chimera ants flew in the air, one more humanoid than the rest. The four now raced through the trees, Killua seemingly angry at how clueless he had been.
“They’re coming from the left and the right. Keep up your guard.” Kite informed them just as a dragonfly like chimera ant flew towards them. The sound of its wings buzzing was so loud that it made (Name)’s ears hurt.
She attempted to seat one away, but they were way too fast. When she tried to get close to use her ability. They hid behind trees. “Crap!”
“The trees are getting in the way!” Gon exclaimed, getting frustrated over the same thing.
“Yeah.”
“Shouldn’t we get out of the forest?” Gon asked, his brow furrowing as another chimera ant weaves through the trees.
“This is a trap.”
———————
(Name) yawned, rubbing her eyes as Kite easily dispatched the chimera ants. They left the woods, the chimera ant that planned to attack them backing off once he sensed he was outclassed by Kite.
“He was able to understand that he was outclassed, and he calmly backed down at once. Most likely, he was a squadron leader.”
They watched as the chimera ants backed away. “We’re following them. Their nest must be nearby. If we follow them, we will find the Queen.”
The three ran through the night as the moon shown over them. Kite used his En to track the chimera ants, nodding. “They’re continuing to go straight. The Chimera Ant nest must be up ahead.”
“Amazing… he’s been picking them up the entire time, never losing them for an instant.” Killua said, hanging back with Gon and (Name).
“Kite said he could use En within a radius of forty-five meters.”
“I’ve heard that those called Nen masters can handle around fifty meters. Kite is nearly there. Actually, given that he’s kept it up for an entire night, he’s probably stronger.”
“Stronger than… a master… the Kite’s the real deal.”
“Yeah, he’s the first real pro Hunter we’ve met.”
(Name) smiled, listening in to their conversation. As they continued to speak, she couldn’t help but feel lucky to have Kite as her teacher. She held onto her backpack straps, watching as Kite continued to walk at a steady pace.
He was… quite handsome, the more she thought about it. Not only that, but he was intelligent and kind. He was kind enough to teach her on an important mission, even though she was noticeably weaker than Gon and Killua, who he already considered a liability if they couldn’t take care of themselves.
The fact he even offered them a chance to leave showed he cared. An uncaring man wouldn’t care if a few kids and a girl died due to their own weakness, but he obviously was not that type of man.
This revelation made her cheeks heat up. Did she… no, there was no way she had some sort of crush on him. She liked Kurapika!
But…
‘He obviously… doesn’t like me…’ her heart twisted in her chest. The memory of his words made her want to curl up into a ball and die.
“This is a pretty brutal place for training, though.”
(Name) began listening back into their conversation to distract herself. Kite responded to Killua’s words. “That’s why I keep asking if your resolve is firm. As you mentioned, Ging had certain expectations when he sent you to me. But I do not intend to train you during this journey. We don’t have that kind of time.”
Soft moonlight trickled through the trees as they continued on. To (Name), it felt like that night was lasting forever.
“I brought you te along because I thought you might be of use, and (Name) because I have a duty to fulfill. From here, it comes down to your resolve. If it’s strong, you’ll develop nen and grow strong via combat. If it’s weak, the ants will eat you.”
The three nodded slowly.
“But we can’t die. We are pro Hunters. Those who call themselves Hunters always get their prey. For Hunters, that is the first commandment. A hunt involves both Hunter and prey. It is a battle of resolve. Emerging victorious from a battle of resolve is what makes a successful hunt. The loser has to follow the winner’s rules and customs. Usually, this means the loser’s death.”
“Rules…”
(Name) paused by a small waterfall, for a moment she had an idea, hearing Gon repeat the word… but it was gone with the wind as soon as Kite continued to speak.
“If you don’t want that result, then win. Improving your nen is important, of course. But to be a successful Hunter, you must understand the enemy and yourself.”
(Name) went quiet again, the sounds of their voices fading away. During this time spent with Kite, Gon, and Killua, she had seen so much death and destruction. Even though it had been said so many times before, her very human mind couldn’t seem to comprehend the possibility of her own death.
Sure, she had thoughts of suicide and even made a few attempts, but she couldn’t quite get the concept of her life being in danger. How many times had she nearly died during the Hunter Exam alone? It was all a bit fuzzy… especially in the beginning when she was still so lost in the dark.
Kurapika had been that light that made the fog clear away. But now… it was as if he was the very fog itself, making the way in front of her unseeable. His words and actions had plunged her back into the abyss she had tried so hard to climb out of.
And part of her resented him for it.
She shook that thought from her head, her heart pouding in her chest. No, no she could never hate or resent him. Kurapika was the person she loved with her entire heart… she didn’t want to feel this way.
So, for the first time, she pushed down those feelings she had for him, attempting to cover them up with her feelings of love and affection. It felt suffocating, almost like her throat was swelling up, but it felt a hell of a lot better than trying to accept that she was human and felt anger for her she had been treated.
She didn’t want to hate him.
By the time she had recovered, Kite sat down on a small, flat boulder. “Ah. That’s right… I just remembered.”
He took out a Hunter’s license, holding it out to Gon. “A Hunter license?”
“This is Ging’s.”
“Huh? Ging’s?”
As they spoke, (Name) and Killua hung back a little. Killua, ever perceptive reached out to grab her sleeve. “You alright?”
She thought for a second before nodding. “Yeah, just… a bit tired, is all.”
After they finished talking, (Name) and Killua rejoined the pair. “Kite…”
He looked up as she spoke, noticing the slight heat in her cheeks. “Thank you… for bringing me. Even though…”
She paused for a moment. “Even though I’m not strong like the others. I-“
“(Name).”
He placed a hand on her shoulder, giving it a light squeeze. “Do you truly think I would have taken you with me if I didn’t believe you could handle yourself? You’ve already proven yourself, so why do you still doubt your own strength?”
Her eyes were wide with surprise. Kite… thought she was strong? “I…”
Before she could say anything else, Kite stood up and walked towards the cliff’s edge, sweat bearing down his face. His eyes darkened as he looked over the landscape. “That’s a monster…”
He crouched down, muttering to himself. “What is this? I don’t believe it!”
“What’s wrong, Kite?” Gon asked as the three approached him.
“Gon, Killua, (Name). Run!”
“Huh?”
“Hurry up! Get out of here!”
(Name) stood there, taking a single step back and reaching to grab the boys.
“Get away from me!”
It all happened so fast. As Kite moved to block the way, (Name) yanked Gon and Killua back with all of her strength. Because she was so focused, she didn’t notice what happened to Kite until it was too late.
The sound of something falling onto the ground made her look up. Her eyes widened in terror, anger beginning to well up in her chest.
Kite’s arm was lying on the ground, blood gushing from the wound. Killua and Gon were in shock, trembling in both fear and anger as the Chimera Ant before them regarded the three with malicious so intense it made the air freeze inside their lungs.
It was a cat like creature, with a human looking face. The creature was no taller than (Name), but gave off the aura of a natural born killer.
Seeing Kite’s missing arm, both Gon and (Name) began to tremble in anger. As Gon charged up, (Name) got ready to heal him at a moments notice, the grass around her wilting.
Killua slammed his hand in Gon’s neck, knocking him out cold. But he was too late to do the same to (Name).
Unfortunately, she had caught the ant’s attention.
The second the ant laid eyes on (Name), it tensed up, it’s hair fluffy up as if it were a cat encountering a predator.
‘That woman… her power… it’s a danger to the future king!’
Killua picked up Gon, ready to grab (Name)’s hand, but was stopped when the Chimera Ant took a step towards her. (Name)’s aura instantly died down, the terror or being that beast’s main focus making her body freeze on the spot.
“Go! Now!”
Kite summoned his watching, catching the attention of the ant again. As soon as it wasn’t looking at (Name), Killua grabbed her hand and began to run.
There was no way for her to keep up with him, so she was dragged along, flying through the air. “Kite!”
She watched, tears rolling down her cheeks as Kite turned to face the monstrous being. He said nothing, but held a thumbs up, before getting into a fighting position.
——————
As the night continued on, rain began to fall over the three. After getting a good distance away, Killua slowed down enough so (Name) wasn’t being dragged behind him like a rag doll.
She breathed out a sigh of relief, jogging next to him. Soon, the ground would become to slick to run on, so they moved as quickly as they could.
Even after getting several miles away, she could still feel the effects of that… thing’s aura. It made her skin crawl, every sound making her flinch. She half expected something to jump out at them from the shadows, bearing its teeth and ready to devour them.
They had all been too overconfident. The three of them were still weaker than Kite who’d lost an arm. That thing knew… but…
(Name) turned to see Killua glancing at her. ‘Why did that thing react to (Name) that way?’
Sure, Killua knew that her power was frightening, but it wasn’t nearly as strong or developed as Gon or Killua’s. What made her the one in need of eliminating? Why did she of all people catch that thing’s attention?
As the sun rose, (Name) stumbled along behind Killua, her legs shaky with exhaustion. She had never ran that much in her life, the Hunter Exam was a piece of cake compared to the previous night.
It didn’t take long for their guides to notice them as they walked across the desert again. It was all (Name) could do to not pass out as they helped her up into the horse. She held Gon in her lap, Killua riding on the other horse.
“…”
The ride back to where they began was quiet, the two occasionally exchanging a worried glance. Was Kite okay?
Had they just left him to die?
The two carried Gon, setting him down at the base of the tree once they finally arrived at the embassy. (Name) plopped down onto the ground, rubbing her swollen legs.
She silently took a granola bar out of her bag and handed it to Killua, who ate it without a word.
She laid her shirt out in the sun, putting on her cardigan to keep warm as they recovered from the long night they had experienced.
Killua took out his phone and called Kite’s friends, (Name) keeping Gon’s head in her lap. She gently brushed his wet hair out of his face, trying to stay strong for the boys.
They confirmed they were headed their way with reinforcements, so the two just waited together.
(Name) reached out and held Killua’s hand, squeezing it lightly as the truck carrying Kite’s friends and backup rolled up. He felt like a coward for leaving Kite behind, a weakling, but (Name) understood what they were up against.
Three men stepped out of the car, approaching the two. Netero was at the front of the pack, while the other two followed behind. The man to his left was tall, with a muscular body and gray hair and tan skin. The man on Netero’s right was tall and thin, wearing a business suit and glasses.
“That’s Chairman Netero…” Killua whispered, (Name) nodding slowly.
“What’s this? It’s just a bunch of kids. If you’re here to play, you’ll get burned. Go back home,” the muscular man said, grinning. He was carrying something big and heavy over his back that made him lean forward slightly, a testimony to his strength.
(Name) and Killua frowned. They both knew that they weren’t any ordinary kids, and (Name) was an adult!
“Stop it, Morel. That isn’t nice… they’re only children,” the man in a suit spoke. (Name) squeezed Killua’s hand, her eyes trained on the two.
Netero let out a little laugh, looking down at Killua. “You look pretty defeated. Was the enemy that strong?”
He said this with no malice. Netero knew that the three in front of him were no amateurs. The enemy they had faced was strong, so strong that even Kite lost an arm to it.
“One of them could use nen. That was the worst aura I’ve ever encountered. You guys are unbelievably strong, but I still can’t see you defeating that thing…” Killua said softly, looking down.
“Whenever humans encounter the unknown, they tend to lose perspective. Currently you’re experiencing a state of panic. We’ll take it from here, so go lie in bed.” the man in a suit said, looking down at the three as if they were toddlers that needed a nap.
(Name)’s eyebrow twitched, and her grip on Killua’s hand tightened.
“Haha, you’re no better than I am, Knov,” Morel, the muscular man said. “Kid… the minute you start talking about who can win in a nen fight, you’re wrong. In most cases, you won’t know your opponents abilities. One instant of carelessness is all it takes to turn the tables and cost a life. You can’t make assumptions based on the amount of aura displayed. The battle can turn at any point. That’s what fighting with nen means. But, regardless… you must always fight certain of victory! That is a nen user’s spirit. The moment you were overwhelmed by the opponent’s aura and fled, you were disqualified. You’re lower than a loser!”
With his last words, (Name) stood up. “The hell did you just say?”
She stepped forward, her nen spiking. “I’ve had just about enough of your high and mighty talk. If you had been out there in front of that thing, I bet at least one of you would have cried like a little bitch.”
Killua watched this, his eyes going wide. “(Name), stop it, they’re-“
She held up her hand. “And another thing, does it make you feel big and tough to pick on someone smaller than you? Do you feel like a real man when calling a child a loser after making a really hard decision that saved all of our lives? Why I should-“
She raised her fist, but Netero caught it. “That’s enough, (Name).”
Morel looked down at her as if taking her presence in for the first time. He snorted, reaching out his large hand to ruffle her hair. “Looks like this one has some spunk. Kite’s message was right, this girl has potential.”
Netero nodded, examining her aura. “Kite said that you’ve figured out your nen type?”
She nodded slowly, still trying to fix her hair after it was ruffled. “… yes.”
He nodded, looking to Killua. “Is Gon asleep?”
Killua stayed silent for a minute, only relaxing when he saw (Name) wasn’t in any immediate danger. “He was going to attack the enemy, so I used force to stop him. I didn’t have time to control my strength, so I don’t know when he’ll wake up.”
Morel laughed. “That kid shows some promise then.”
“Morel!”
“It’s difficult to believe that giant chimera ants are eating humans, but since it appears to be true, we must keep casualties to a minimum. If we send fighters who aren’t strong enough, they’ll only strengthen the enemy. Do you understand?”
“Yeah…”
Netero began to walk away, but turned the last second. “We sent two assassins to the nearest village. It’s your decision whether you want to fight. But you must defeat them before you come. If you wish to live as a Hunter… we are not desperate for help. We only seek the strong. That being said…”
He paused for just a moment. “(Name)… you will be coming back, guaranteed, if that’s what you wish.”
She blinked, pointing to herself. “Me..? You want… you want me to come back? Why-“
“There is no time to explain. If you wish to come, then use the time to train and refine your ability. Once the victors between Killua and Gon and the assassins are decided, you will come back with them.”
He threw two playing pieces, Killua catching them immediately.
Killua squeezed her hand, preventing her from accepting or declining.
She thought about Netero’s words on the way to the village. All she could think about was how did her abilities even compare to anyone present, and why weren’t Killua and Gon the ones picked?
(Name) took her turn carrying Gon on her back as walked into town.
She raised an eyebrow as Killua looked over a note left on a blackboard.
To: Gon and Killua
‘Will you fight?’
——————
(Name) and Killua sat at Gon’s side as he rested in bed. It was late in the afternoon, the sun filtering in through the window harsh on the two.
The entire way there, Killua had been completely silent. She didn’t blame him for that, the professional Hunters’ words had been harsh, but had a bit of truth to him. There was only so much comfort she could give him without making it seem like it was out of pity. That was the last thing he needed right now, to be coddled as if he was just a child.
She wasn’t surprised when Gon began to stir, raising his hand to block the light from his eyes.
“Killua… thank.”
Killua looked down, his eyes darkening. “Why would you thank me?”
“Weren’t you the one who stopped me? Had I lost control back there, I would’ve gotten in Kite’s way. Then, all four of us could have died.”
“But I… let Kite die…”
“Kite is alive! He wouldn’t ever let that thing beat him! But considering his injury, he’d have a hard time moving around. So he’s probably hiding. Waiting for us to return! So we should hurry back… once we’ve become stronger! To save Kite!”
(Name) watched the two, her gaze softening. Before her eyes, she was watching Killua’s heart open up, watching him fall in love.
“Let’s go. To become stronger!”
(Name) grinned, grabbing both of their hands and leading them to the bathroom. “But first, you two both need a bath and a change of clothes, pronto!”
She walked through town with them after they both bathed and had a meal.
“What are those?”
“Tokens. You take a piece of marked wood and split it, giving each half to a different person. They work as proof that you’re an ally, or to authenticate a document.”
(Name) stopped, ordering them all some ice cream at a stall before walking back and handing it all out. The three continued their journey, now with a special treat.
“In this case, each of the two assassins holds one matching token. We defeat them and take the tokens.”
They went back to the blackboard to see it had been erased. As (Name) licked her ice cream, the feeling of being watched made the hairs on the back of her neck stand up.
“You must be Killua, Gon, and (Name).”
She jumped, turning to see a frightening looking woman behind them. Her hair was long and unkept, her eyes big and staring.
“Nice to meet you… my name is Palm. It’s a pleasure.”
It certainly didn’t seem like a pleasure, a black aura hung around her and her voice sounded far from happy.
“Boys, stranger danger.”
(Name) stood in front of them, hiding the two behind her back.
“Oh my… no need to be so tense. I imagine the chairman probably didn’t provide many details. Allow me to explain. Why don’t we have some tea?”
She began to walk away, and (Name) looked at the two. “Holy… boys, I think we just had a first hand encounter with an otherworldly spirit.”
“That’s not very nice (Name).”
“Gon, I’m with (Name). That was terrifying.”
The three reluctantly followed the women, (Name) and Killua grimacing every time she turned back to stare at them.
———————
“I am a student of Mr. Knov. He said I would only get in his way. But I insisted on accompanying him.”
“Who’s that?” Gon asked as the woman before them stirred a spoonful of sugar into her tea.
“She probably means one of the guys with Chairman Netero.”
“Yes, the one wearing a black suit. My teacher is an incredible person. Cool, intelligent, composed… ah, composed and cool mean the same thing!”
(Name) grimaced as the sugar began to pile in Palm’s cup, peeking over the edge as she poured more and more in. “Ah dear… oh, but I only respect him, that’s all. There’s nothing romantic about my feelings… at least I may wish that were the case.”
She continued to ramble, (Name) glancing at the boys. Killua met her gaze, shaking his head.
‘She’s nuts.’
After she finished speaking, Palm drank the tea, making the three wince. “No one can say what will happen… after all love is a spontaneous thing, don’t you agree?”
“Uh, can I interrupt you? Aren’t we supposed to fight you?” Killua asked.
“Huh? Oh dear… yes, I apologize. The chairman and my teacher said I couldn’t accompany them any farther. But I insisted on going with them. It feels like I spent a lifetime just trying to convince them of my determination. And finally they relented, with one condition.”
“Uh, I’m asking about…”
“My teacher may appear to be a cold person, but he’s actually quite gentle. But you have to spend a lot of time with him to realize that. Ah, by “spending time with him,” I don’t mean-“
“Okay, we get it! What’s the condition?!”
(Name) jumped when Killua snapped, finally having enough of the woman’s ramblings. She nearly had a heart attack when the woman went silent, glaring at them.
“Knuckle and Shoot’s defeat. To think those vulgar, barbaric unmannered brats will be allowed inside NGL before me… I cannot allow that!”
Palm’s aura rose, causing her drink to overflow, spilling onto (Name) and Gon. “Miss Palm, turn off your hatsu!”
———————
(Name) huffed, using the bathroom sink to wet a napkin before dabbing at the stain on her dress. It was one she just bought that day, and she could tell it would be a tough stain to get out later.
‘Damn crazy lady… I need to get back to Gon and Killua before-‘
(Name) nearly jumped out of her skin when her phone rang. She nearly dropped it as she pulled it out of her pocket, her hands still wet while she struggled to unlock it.
“H-hello?”
The line was silent for a moment, and (Name) glanced at the number.
It wasn’t one she recognized.
“This is (Name) (Last Name), correct?”
But she recognized the voice all too well.
“C-Chrollo!?”
Her blood ran cold, the stain on her dress suddenly irrelevant. “Good, it seems you remember me. That makes this much easier.”
The line went quiet again, except for the sound of rustling paper. “I request a favor from you, (Name).”
“A… favor?”
Her jaw dropped in disbelief, her phone nearly falling with it, but she caught it just in time.
“Yes, a favor. What’s the saying… you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours? I need you to do something for me, and in exchange I will give you information that would be useful to you.”
She gritted her teeth, her grip on her phone increasing. “You’re a murderer, you killed the Kurta clan without any mercy, why would I ever-“
“Because I have information on the scarlet eyes.”
She paused, taking several seconds to process that information. Not a word was uttered as he continued.
“Your little boyfriend wants the eyes back, no? Then why don’t we form a little… truce?”
“Truce?”
She could hear him chuckle on the other end. “Yes, after you do this favor for me, perhaps we can form somewhat of an alliance… but with one condition. I will not use any means to get to the chain user through you, but you will not give the chain user any information on us that could lead to him finding our location or harming us.”
He worded himself carefully, keeping his voice neutral. It didn’t take a genius to figure out that he probably had some loophole in mind, but the information he might have was too precious to pass up.
“… tell what the favor is. I’ll decide if I’ll do it after.”
She could almost hear the smug smirk he wore in his voice. “A member of the Phantom Troupe was injured in a job, and no one else is close enough to their location to help.”
(Name) frowned. “And you want me to help them?”
“Yes, that would be what I called you for. You have healing abilities, do you not?”
“How did y-“
He cut her off with a chuckle before she could even finish her sentence. “I have my ways. That’s not important though, what is of higher importance is whether you’ll do this favor or not.”
On one hand, if she didn’t accept this favor, a member of the phantom troupe would potentially die, lightening Kurapika’s load. On the other hand, the information Chrollo had was priceless, considering he was the one that sold all of the scarlet eyes in the first place.
“… alright, I’ll do this favor for you. But don’t get it twisted, this isn’t an alliance. It’s give and take, nothing more and nothing less.”
“And that’s fine.” Chrollo said, letting out a sigh. “I’ll send over the information via text message within the next 5 minutes.”
And with that, he ended the call. (Name) stared down at her phone, her heart heavy. ‘I wonder if I’ll… regret this one day.’
She dropped the napkin she had been using to wipe her dress into the trash, her hands shaking slightly when she opened the door.
As soon as she got back to the table, Killua noticed her strange behavior. His eyes darted from her shaky hands to the scowl on her face. “You alright?”
“Yeah… just saw a spider in the bathroom.”
Neither Killua or Gon felt comfortable with (Name) splitting off from them, but she was adult and they couldn’t really stop her.
“It’s alright, I’m just going some shopping. I’ll be back soon, I promise.”
She tried to put them at ease, but Killua wasn’t easily fooled. He watched her leave, his stomach hurting. Killua didn’t quite understand why he felt so uneasy watching her go, but he knew that she wasn’t just going shopping.
“She’ll be okay, Killua.”
The white haired boy glanced back to Gon, who was smiling brightly. “She’s strong, we both saw what she could do in NGL.”
“Yeah, but…”
As her silhouette disappeared within the crowd of people, Killua couldn’t help but worry.
“She was never this nervous in NGL.”
———————
The directions Chrollo sent were concise and easy to follow, so much so that it was almost eerie. He correctly assumed there would be heavier foot traffic in some areas, and estimated the time she would get there with that in mind.
The location was a small, dingy motel on the outskirts of town. The lobby smelled like mothballs and piss, and the walls were stained a nasty yellow from years of guests smoking inside. ‘Gross…’
“Can I help you?”
The woman at the front desk spoke lazily, blowing out a puff of cigarette smoke between sentences.
“Um, yes. I’m here to visit the person in room 204.”
The woman waved her hand, pointing down the hall. Without another word, (Name) began following where she pointed.
The air felt thick, and it wasn’t just the cigarette smoke. Someone’s nen was making the air heavy with rage and frustration. ‘Must be the phantom troupe member…’
She knocked on room 204’s door, flinching when someone yelled out. “Hurry up!”
And yet again, she recognized that voice, groaning internally. When she opened the door, she saw the interrogator of the Phantom Troupe sitting on the edge of the messy bed, shirtless. He looked beyond irritated, tapping his foot and grumbling under his breath.
“Uh… Chrollo sent me to-“
“Already know. Get over with.”
She stood still for just a moment, but moved quickly went he sent her a glare. “Can I see the-“
He showed her his back, and she couldn’t help wincing at the sight. Large gashes, deep enough for her to be amazed she wasn’t seeing bone stretched out across his back.
“Stupid bitch… hit me when back turned, coward…” Feitan grumbled, shaking in anger. He didn’t wince in the slightest as she placed her palms over the wound, only growling out in warning.
“This is pretty bad… I’m not sure how much I can heal you with my current abilities.”
Feitan glanced back at her, a scowl on his face. “Just do it. Take too long.”
(Name) huffed, concentrating her aura into her hands and closing her eyes so she could focus on envisioning his flesh knitting back together, of the skin turning pink with scar tissue instead of being a deep red. Within a few minutes, sweat was pouring down her forehead as she finished, panting softly.
His back was still scarred and sensitive to the touch, but she had sped up the healing process to the point it looked like he had received the scars months ago.
Feitan stood up and looked in the mirror, nodding slowly. “Chrollo call you later. Leave.”
With that, he walked to the bathroom turning to watch her go. She took the hint, not wanting to anger a member of the Phantom Troupe.
As she walked down the street, she saw a man walking down the street, shouting into a megaphone and wearing sighs. His black pompadour caught her eyes…
“My name is Knuckle Bine! I am a beast hunter! I challenge the two punitive force candidates to a duel! Come tonight at midnight sharp, and face me! I won’t try to run or hide. I won’t bring any weapons or allies. It’ll just be me and me alone. So come and fight me!”
(Name) sighed, continuing down the street. ‘That’s Knuckle, one of the people Killua and Gon have to defeat. He hasn’t mentioned where they’re supposed to meet, though…’
“A man never turns his back on an enemy! I’ll follow you to the ends of the earth, you won’t get away!”
She stayed neutral, trying not to react to his words. If she gave any sort of reaction, it might clue him in to the fact that she was in fact allied with Gon and Killua, which could be bad for her.
As (Name) made her way back to their hotel, a few shopping bags in hand to make sure Gon and Killua weren’t suspicious of her, she felt… strangely tired. Healing Feitan had taken a lot out of her, and she didn’t know if she would be able to hide that exhaustion from the others.
Opening the door to their room, (Name) nearly jumped when she spotted Bisky training the boys in the middle of the room.
“B-Bisky?”
The woman turned quickly, her hands on her hips. “Finally, you’re back. You’ll be joining their training as well. Start with Ren.”
She blinked for a moment, yelping when the blonde whacked her on the head. “I said start with Ren!”
“Y-yes ma’am!”
After she went into ren, Bisky nodded. “Maintain that for three hours.”
The three looked shocked. “Killua…” Gon whispered, frowning. “How long can you last?”
“I’m too condition, I can manage around 55 minutes max.”
(Name)’s jaw dropped. ‘55 minutes? I don’t think I can even last 15…’
“Until you complete this, we can’t move on to the next step. Train like your lives are on the line!”
(Name) passed out after maintaining nen for a whopping 30 minutes after being forced to do it over and over.
‘She’s far behind the other two…’ Bisky thought, watching as the other two laid in a crumpled pile with her. ‘Yet Netero wants her to be the only guaranteed member that gets to go back to NGL… I’ll have to observe her further to see what that old man has planned.’
“Okay, you can rest for today! Tomorrow behind in 30 minutes. Looks like it’s time for me to use my power.”
She summoned Cookie-chan, who gave the three relief with a gentle massage as they slept.
——————
(Name) woke up to her cheek being pinched lightly. “Hey, girl. Go get us some drinks, you still need time to recover. Even with cookie-chan, there was still some severe exhaustion that even she couldn’t fix.”
Bisky gave her a look, as if inspecting her. (Name) stood quickly, avoiding the glances from Gon and Killua. “Okay, I’ll go. I should be back soon.”
The second (Name) was out the door, Bisky turned to the other two. “So, what do you two think of her?”
Killua grunted, struggling to maintain Ren. “Do we have to answer r-right now?”
Bisky raised an eyebrow. “Yes.”
Gon went first, a determined look on his face. “(Name) is our good friend. She’s kind, and her nen ability is a testament to that.”
Killua smiled, looking at the ground. “Yeah… she uses it mostly for healing, but while we were fighting the chimera ants, she completely destroyed it with her nen.”
Bisky raised an eyebrow. “How exactly? What’s her ability?”
“Time, I think. Specifically the ability to speed up the growth rate of cells.”
Bisky paused, her eyes going wide. At this stage in her nen journey, (Name) shouldn’t have been able to completely destroy a foe with her nen. If she was this strong now, there was no telling how her ability would develop given time and training.
‘Netero… what do you have planned?’
(Name) walked down the street back towards the hotel. She had a bag of drinks in one arm, and some takeout in the other. Bisky had them training the entire night, not giving her the chance to get some dinner. ‘I’m so hungry, but that training made me so nauseous…’
She sat on a park bench, sleepily munching on her food. Maybe she could get a few minutes of sleep before she had to head back…
Before she could lay down and catch a few minutes of sleep, she heard a man call out to her. (Name) groaned internally, her eyelids heavy as she sat up.
“Hey, you!”
The man stomped over, and it was way too late for (Name) to do anything by the time she recognized him. It was the man from earlier, Knuckle.
“Ya think it’s safe to be sleeping on a random bench in the middle of the night!?”
She blinked, staring up at the man as he glowered down at her. “Um…”
“There’s a pervert on the loose, don’t you read the damn newspaper!? Tsk…”
He had took one of his hands out of his pockets. “Come on, let’s get you home.”
(Name) stared at his hand for a moment, biting back a smile. “How can I be sure you’re not the pervert?”
His face erupted into a red blush, and he began stuttering. “W-would never! It’s not manly to force yourself on a woman!”
She laughed, taking his hand. “I’m just kidding. You seem harmless enough.”
Knuckles was still pretty flustered, leading her away by the hand. “W-which way?”
“Just to the next block, I can walk by myself from there.”
He didn’t answer, probably still recovering. Once they reached her stop, he stood firm, crossing his arms over his chest. “Go on, I’ll make sure no one follows ya.”
She smiled, giving him a wave before she began her walk back to the hotel.
‘Gon and Killua will like him, he’s a nice guy.’
After she was out of his view, her smile dropped as her phone buzzed. She had a feeling she knew who it was, but looked at the contact just to be sure.
Chrollo: Here’s the information, as promised.
(Name) swallowed, looking over the pictures and walls of text. Once it was all saved she forwarded it to Leorio. Kurapika had blocked her, so she knew he wouldn’t answer her.
After she sent the text, Leorio called her instantly. It was late where (Name) was, but mid afternoon for Leorio. “(Name), where the hell did you get this information..?”
“… do you really want to know..?”
Leorio sighed. “Yes, of course. It couldn’t have been easy to get.”
“Yeah,” she said, rubbing her temple. “Working with the Phantom Troupe is a real headache.”
The line went silent as she continued walking.
“The WHAT!?”
—————————
Kurapika sipped on some coffee, reading the text Leorio had just sent him. There was information in at least two pairs of scarlet eyes, containing the buyers name and last known location.
‘How he got this info, I have no idea.’ Kurapika thought, setting down his drink. ‘But it’s too good to pass up.’
He stretched, glancing at the clock. Kurapika’s shift to guard Neon started in only 15 minutes, something that made him groan tiredly. He had only gotten a few hours of sleep the night before, his nightmares making a restful night impossible.
But unlike usual, it wasn’t images of his dead clan and their missing eyes that haunted his nightmares.
No, it was the image of (Name), her face unrecognizable after being smashed in. He didn’t know how his mind knew it was her, but he did.
“Why weren’t you here, Pika? Why didn’t you protect me?”
That’s the only thing she said, repeating as the bloody gore that was her face shifted and melted away, leaving only her crushed skull in its wake. Empty sockets stared back at him, the dark holes swallowing him up…
And that’s when he shot awake. As he stared up at the clock, now only 5 minutes remaining before he had to start his shift, he tried to push away the awful memory of his dream.
She was safe because of his absence. He… he hadn’t put her in danger, and she didn’t need his protection. That’s what he kept telling himself as he smoothed out his suit jacket and combed out his messy hair.
‘I… hope she’s okay.’
With one last look at the cardigan he had woken up with weeks ago, Kurapika left his hotel room, ready to start his day.

🌘.━━━━━━━━━━.🌕.━━━━━━━━━━━.🌒
"Hm, but I'll play with you, won't you like that, hm?" He hums into your ear, and you melt underneath his words, easily nodding at his proposal, because you've waited way too long for this.
He's finally made his move, and you're gonna enjoy every last second of it.
"You think I haven't heard you talk to Jimin about me, don't you?" He suddenly brings up, inked arm reaching over your thigh so his hand can cup your heat- harshly so, forcing your body upright even, and you can't help but mewl at the way it puts pressure on your aching core. "You think I don't know how you yap about me to your friends hm? How you call me nothing but what? A 'bitch in heat', wasn't it?" He recalls, and you whimper a bit because you did call him that.
You called him a lot of other nasty things, and you do regret it a little. Just a tiny bit though. Or maybe a lot.
"Yeah well-" you huff impatiently, throwing your head back over his shoulder. "-You're all talk and nothing more." You complain. "You'll just- you just wanna fuck me and then toss me aside like everyone else!" You tell him with a slightly angry bite to your tone, and he clicks his tongue, fingers of his effortlessly opening the buttons of your shorts.
"Stupid omega-bullshit." You blame, hips moving impatiently as you curl your toes from the sensation. He shakes his head.
"And yet you let me." He chuckles, and you want to cry. Because you do let him fuck you over like this, right now. You do, with full knowledge of the consequences after. But you also want him, because he's got these.. glimpses of something you've never had before.
These moments of actual happiness, actual care and gentle adoration- something similar to the love everyone always gushes about around you, the thing you've never quite experienced before. "Why, I wonder." He asks you, while his fingers easily dip in between your legs, slick making it easy for him to move around.
"I think you know why." He shakes his head however, free hand moving to pull you up properly against his chest again, perched up on his thigh, legs spread open while your shorts and underwear pool at your ankles. "You know exactly why you let me, and why I'm doing this in the first place." He offers, and you don't answer.
Cause you're not sure. If it's not your omega hormones, then what? Is he going to come at you with some fated soulmate bullshit?
"You've got me tangled around your fingers, darling, and you don't even know it." Jungkook tells you with ear amusement in his tone, voice vibrating against your back. "Your body is calling out to me, and only me, isn't it?" He wonders, two fingers dipping inside you, finally giving you something at last. "You crave me, and can't bear the thought of anyone else touching you like this." He explains, while he leans in to let his lips run over the skin near your ear, searching for where your scent is strongest. "You feel empty without my touch, cold without my presence, lonely without my eyes on you." He goes on, and you want to cry out of frustration because first of all how does he know, and second of all why can't you fucking cum?!
"You know I'm right." The alpha wolf tells you. "Because I feel the exact same things." He offers.
"Wha-" you start, before you're interrupted by a specific motion of his fingers inside you, legs kicking out.
"Dont act so surprised." He mumbles against your skin, watching from above how you squirm in his grip, arm holding you close while the other plays around with you. "Its not like I'm hiding anything from you or anyone else." Jungkook chuckles. "Not like you, that is." He teasingly bites at your earlobe, making you shudder.
You're absolutely boneless in his grip right now, close to crying as he keeps your final high always a breath away.
"You're testing my patience, darling." The wolf continues, really making sure you know he's truly playing with you. "One moment you want me, the next you don't. Who's really playing a cruel game here, I wonder?" He accuses, and now you're really close to tears, but for different reasons.
"I dont-" you start, moving your legs in desperation. "- Wanna talk 'bout that now.." you whine, and he clicks his tongue.
"You don't ever want to." He almost growls. "And I'm sick of it, darling." He says, the pet name said almost like a threat, harsh and sharp. "You either talk-" he starts, and you're sweating at what cruel thing he's got in mind. "-or I'm leaving you."
And you know that by leaving, he's not only talking about his hand between your legs.
And that- the prospect of him leaving you alone- finally breaks the floodgates, making you cry.
Because you dont want him to leave.
Not anymore.

Can we get "you better watch your fucking mouth" with chanhee from tbz
request: “you better watch your fucking mouth.” with tbz chanhee. // hope you like it, feel free to give feedback.
summary: he got jealous at a party and takes his frustrations out with you. don't wanna spoil too much. warnings: angry / rough sex, pet name: baby, “good girl.”, p in v (unprotected sex), overstimulation, cum swallowing (a tiny second of blowjob), lil gaging. word count: 1.6k
Tumblr media
you could tell something was off by the way chanhee ignored you during the whole ride home. you tried talking to him but all you got were small and barely audible responses, you sighed as you gave up, staring at the city lights instead, as he drove the two of you home.
as you entered your shared apartment, you observed as your boyfriend started unbuttoning his shirt. letting out a sigh as he sat on the couch in the living room, letting his head fall against it as he took his shoes off. he then lifted his head and looked for you in the room, “come here.” he said, his soft tone was completely gone and instead his voice sounded more like a groan, as if he was pissed. you nodded and went to sit next to him.
“no, no.” he stopped you, patting his lap and making you straddle him. your dress slightly lifting as your legs rested at both sides of his body, chanhee took his chance and rested his hands on the exposed skin of your thighs; caressingly stroking them as he looked up at you.
his brown eyes seemed darker than usual, his pupils notably dilated. “fuck, i can't get angry at you when you look like this.” he cursed. you gave him a small smile as you held his face in your hands.
“why are you angry?” you asked, curious.
“i’m not.” he kinda lied, trying not to make a big deal of it, even though the images of the night kept playing in his mind over and over again; you two had decided to go to the party eric was hosting at his place, the music was loud and, if you'd ask your boyfriend, your body was a bit too close to changmin's. seeing you that close to his best friend, having fun and laughing like that, made him feel slightly (very) angry. right after observing that scene was when he went silent. yet, he felt like he couldn't complain, since he deep down knew that what you and changmin were nothing more than friends. but that didn't stop him from being jealous.
“are you sure?” you asked again, caressing his cheek with your hand as you looked worried. chanhee nodded and kissed your chin shortly.
“i just kinda regret going to that party.” he confessed, sighing. “would’ve preferred staying in and having another kind of fun with you here.” he whispered as he started kissing your neck, his soft lips colliding against your sensitive skin. letting your head fall back a little, you allowed him to have more space.
you could feel your body reacting to his touch quite immediately as he knew how and where to kiss. sucking on your skin a bit, leaving red marks here and there, that would become bruises the next morning. he smiled to himself and kissed the spots before going after your lips. capturing them in his and kissing you slowly yet passionately. not wasting much time, chanhee deepened the kiss by sliding his warm tongue in your mouth, tasting you as he did so.
pulling away just a few seconds later, letting you two catch your breath again. you moved back a little on his lap to get more comfortable, causing him to moan and curse between teeth from the friction of your ass against his crotch.
“oops, i’m sorry.” you giggled, but you weren't really sorry. so you decided to tease him a bit, moving once again, circling your hips around his now harder erection.
“watch it.” he warned. you giggled again, biting your lip as you thought about teasing him even more.
“or what?” you asked provocatively as you continued humping on him, making eye contact with him and moaning softly as you started getting aroused as well.
“enough, get off.” he said without hesitation, leaving you shocked at first. yet you did as he asked, confused by the sudden request. “undress.” he commanded. and you smiled to yourself as you saw where things were going. you took your dress' straps and pulled them down your shoulders before letting it slide down your body, exposing yourself to chanhee as to his surprise, you were only wearing panties underneath.
“fuck me.” you heard him say, your cheeks heating up as you felt his intense gaze on you. then, his hands reached your hips as he brought you as close as possible to him, holding you in place as he began kissing your stomach, leaving small and wet kisses on your skin. slowly going down and around the fabric of your underwear, pulling it down completely soon after.
chanhee's long fingers finding their way to your pussy, parting your folds before sliding them back and forth, your wetness covering them. then he teased your clit with his thumb, causing your legs to shake as he did so. he smiled to himself, loving the reaction.
“lay down.” he said, as he waited for you to get comfortable on the couch. once there, you spread your legs automatically as you were ready for more. “aww cute.” chanhee teased, loving how needy and ready you were for him. he didn't take much to take his clothes completely off of his body before joining you on the couch. kneeling on it and getting in between your legs as he continued playing with your clit. feeling it getting swollen as he circled his thumb around it, closing your eyes, you let yourself get lost in the pleasure he gave you. your walls continuously clenched around the emptiness as your pussy just got wetter and wetter. moans of his name escaped your lips as he touched you. at the same time, he could feel his dick twitching as he heard the sweet sounds that you made for him.
not being able to hold back any longer, he positioned himself in your entrance, thrusting in immediately, your tightness making his head fall back. you moaned each other's name to the new feeling.
“you’re fucking tight, fuck.” he groaned as he began thrusting his hips, your moans echoing in his head every time he hit his tip deep inside your pussy. chanhee wasn't in the mood to go slow, so instead he fucked you hard, deep and fast. his thumb following his speed as he continued playing with your clit, driving you insane.
“fuck, changmin.” you whined, the overstimulation making your body shaking under him. he held one of your hips in place as he kept them from moving too much. “feels so good.” you moaned.
“the fuck did you just call me?” he asked, stopping his moves in a second as he looked at you displeased, the veins in his body burning in anger as his eyes got darker.
“what?” you asked confused. “oh.” you said as soon as you realized.
“yeah ‘oh’,” he repeated, pissed. “you better watch your fucking mouth if you wanna cum.” he added before starting to move his hips again, showing his anger with every thrust he made. going. deep. inside. every. time. the sounds of his skin slapping with your own mixing with both your moans.
chanhee took his thumb away from your pussy and slid it through your lips, making you suck it. tasting some of your own arousal as you swirl your tongue around his digit. “good girl.” he said as he pulled it out just to guide it back to your clit, circling it around your sensitive bud once again.
“chanhee please.” you moaned as the pleasure began to be too much. with each thrust he made, you felt closer to the edge. your moans became louder, your walls clenched tighter around your boyfriend's dick, giving him the hint that your orgasm was close. and so was his.
“chanhee—” you moaned loudly as you felt that very familiar wave of pleasure taking over your body. small and delightful whines left your lips as you reached your climax, slowly catching your breath seconds later. your legs were still shaking a bit as you recovered completely.
“you’re not done.” you heard chanhee say as he noticed how your eyes began to close. he pulled out of you and sat again on the couch, he pointed with his hand what he wanted you to do and you followed his instructions without complaining.
you kneeled down in front of him as you watched him stroking his dick, eager to cum as well. he couldn't hold it any longer. it only took him a few strokes for his orgasm to reach him and luckily, you were fast enough to catch his intentions when chanhee made you sit on the floor and in between his legs.
“now.” he moaned and you opened your mouth before taking his dick in. feeling the way it twitched inside as he released his warm cum in your mouth, his hips thrusting up as he let it all out. his tip hitting the back of your throat and making you gag a bit, yet you didn't pull out, instead you swallowed as much as you could before taking him out of your mouth. catching your breath before licking his tip and around his shaft, as you didn't want any drop to go to waste. you smiled as chanhee looked dazed, his forehead slightly covered in sweat as he felt exhausted.
when he made eye contact with you again, you opened your mouth to show him you had swallowed all of his warmth. chanhee smiled satisfied.
“now that's a good use of your mouth.”

Genshin Impact + Polyamory
____________________________
I've been wanting to do this one for quite some time. It came out kinda short, oops
Ships included : Eimiko ( Ei & Yae Miko ), Jeanlisa ( Jean & Lisa ), Beinguang ( Beidou & Ninnguang )
____________________________
Dating the Raiden Shogun and the Guji is hard, believe it or not. Especially if you're mortal. Ei is an archon who is bound to never die while Miko is a kitsune that will live for hundreds of years. Being immortal like them would make things way easier for all of you. We all know that poor Ei can't handle another death.
• Eimiko •
Their personalities are vastly different, while Ei is more reserved with her affections Miko loves teasing the both of you.
You and Miko comforted each other when Ei was in the Plane of Euthymia. It brought you closer and you are sure that if you didn't have each other you wouldn't have been able to handle 500 years without your dear Ei.
After everything went down in Inazuma and you reunited with Ei it took sometime for you to get close again. You needed time to get used to her presence again and sort out your feelings. While she was gone you mostly felt sadness but seeing her again awoke angry feelings in your heart.
With the help of Miko the three of you talked and sorted out your feelings. Once more you were the loving couple you used to be.
Days with Miko and Ei are as calm as they are exciting, your personalities matching each others perfectly.
You three usually have dates at the Narukami Shrine, under the sakura blossoms.
A lot of cuddling and physical touch as well. You have to make sure you hold yourself back because after so many years of separation you feel like you'll explode from the amount of love you have for them.
Dating Lisa and Jean is easy, since they're both the sweetest women in Modstat.
• Jeanlisa •
You and Lisa will have to make sure Jean doesn't overwork herself. She's so selfless and dedicated that she forgets about her own needs and often doesn't know how to stop working. Coaxing her out of her office is a favourite activity of yours. You and Lisa spend hours trying to find new things to make your dear girlfriend get out work.
It's quite the opposite when it comes to Lisa. You and Jean have to set up some kind of reward if you want the other woman to preform her duties in the Knights of Favonius.
Expect a lot of dates. Both of these women love quality time, it doesn't matter where you are or what you're doing as long as you're together.
You go to the library and read books together. Sometimes you organise and clean it.
You spar together and teach each other new moves and techniques.
You go on missions and adventures together whenever possible.
Arguments and fights with them are usually solved fairly easily, especially since you guys don't really fight often.
You're all grown women so you can understand the importance of maturity and communication in a relationship.
It might take a bit more than that when it comes to serious fights because Lisa can be quite hurtful when she's angry.
You always end up making up though, no fight of yours lasted more than a week.
Dating the Uncrowned Lord of the Ocean and the Tianquan of Lyue is a privilege.
• Beinguang •
You'll be spoiled left and right. Beidou loves bringing little trinkets for you and Ninguang to enjoy back from her voyages and Ninguang herself buys you every jewelry or gown she sees and likes. She loves playing dress up with you since Beidou doesn't do all this fancy stuff.
Their personalities are compatible. Not too similar but not too different.
The situation that is quite unfortunate is that no matter where you stay chances are you three won't be spending a lot of time with eachother.
If you follow Beidou on her trips or stay back with Ninguang you'll constantly be missing the other. Yes the presence of one of your girlfriends is comforting but not enough. It'll be even worse if you're a traveler yourself and your field of work requires for you to be far away.
You three must find a way to make it work and you will. You hadn't had more faith in anything in your life as you have this relationship.
When you all are home you get to have the best dates. Spending hours chatting in the cozy atmosphere of Wanmin Restaurant while enjoying Xiangling's great cooking.
Seeing Beidou get all excited about trying a new dish her friend just invented always strokes a warm feeling inside your heart. Just like how watching Ninguang turn as red as a tomato while struggling to eat a spicy dish never fails to have you and Beidou folding over with laughter.
Both of these women have excessive pride so arguements are regular and not that easy to solve. Getting one or the other to apologize is the hard part.

Oop-
I hate when tumblr messes shit up, but Hey, it's me again.
Like in my original aks, I want to reiterate that I'm not trying to come for everybody. Everyone is allowed to have their own opinion. This is just my 2 cents on the whole demigods and menstruation thing
My original ask was kind of convoluted, so I'll just sum it up here.
I like the idea of what demigods being different but I don't like the idea of administration just being completely gone.
I am currently reading jealous of the god, and that is something that Percy directly says is how you get the worst of both worlds.
I love the idea of demigods being more powerful and more protective when they are pregnant or whether their partner is. But imagine not knowing you're a demigod and never getting your period, then thinking "oh I can never get pregnant!" and then get pregnant. That sounds terrifying.
I do like the idea of certain demigods from certain gods having a different sort of thing. Kind of like with Athena, I saw one post about annabeth getting a migraine and shit which is hilarious.
I just feel like having no menstrual cycle. It all seems a little too easy. It's very reminiscent of Alexandria's Genesis if you were around on Tumblr about 10 years ago to remember that. (If not then izzzyzzz has an amazing video on YouTube all about this fake disorder and hoax)
In my original ask I pointed out how It would be an interesting point of view especially for trans demigods.
I am a transperson. I have a lot of dysphoria around that sort of thing. I am currently in pain because of it. So I've been thinking about it a lot.
(Also, this is a completely different headcannon, but I definitely headcannon Leo as a trans man)
Thinking more about it would be interesting to see people lose control of their powers because of how in pain they are I know. I get very upset very quickly like imagine how terrible that would be. (Like Thalia accidentally zapping someone or something)
I'm also a sucker for those hurt/comfort fics surrounding periods and such. Idk why I just like comforting fics lol
I do like the idea that the hunters of Artemis once they become a hunter would not get a period because fuck that.
Also among other things, Artemis is the goddess of childbirth and I feel like she can do that for her hunters.
I did add a little bit more from my original ask because I've just been thinking about it more.
Again, not coming for anyone I really love that everyone has their own opinions and fantastic ideas. It just makes me so happy as an artist!
Thank you! (Sorry tumblr deleted the original one lol)
thank you for the ask! and thank you even more for sending it twice lol!!
now, onto my thoughts. i totally see where you’re coming from. because you are right, part of being a demigod is having to deal with the crappy parts of both worlds. and as much as i would love for female-born demigods to not have to deal with periods, i can totally see them still having one.
so maybe it just works differently? maybe their cycles are longer and they only have a few periods a year? or maybe they are just way lighter? idk. but i still feel like they would work differently than regular humans
i definitely see where you’re coming from on the account of trans-demigods having to deal with it. there would definitely be an added emotional struggle with it along with the physical, and there’s a lot to explore there!
i love the idea of the children of different gods having different symptoms. like you mentioned athena’s kids having more headaches and migraines lol. and maybe ares kids get huge angry mood swings, and maybe aphrodite’s kids get really lovesick and cry every 3 seconds over couples doing cute things lol.
100% with you on the hunters not having one. no boyfriends = no sex = no babies = no period needed. they ain’t got time for that! they’ve got hot girl shit to do. like shooting people with arrows.
i also like the thought of demigods’ powers being heightened when they’re on their period lol. that’s hilarious. imagine a child of demeter having cramps and craving chocolate, and a cocao tree just spurts out of the ground LOL.
thank you for being so nice and wonderful towards people having different headcanons! and whether someone thinks demigods menstruate or not, it sounds like we can all agree that it’s at least different for them than it is for humans.
thank you for your thoughts! they were all super interesting!

A/N: Is it bad that I can relate a little too much to Yuuya? Anyway, reader is insecure and Ace is an ass. A good 10k words??? I can't assure you a good quality throughout the entire fic
A/N 2: I died and revived halfway through writing the fic and the scenario went brrr (started this during December 2022 oops)
F!Reader; Ace
•〔 ! 〕Smut; First time; Grammatical errors; Not proofread
Tumblr media
Ace looked at the sorry excuse the prefect of the Ramshackle dorm was.
She had unconsciously curled up into her seat, not because of the light almost see through clothes that served as a poor excuse for pajamas, but most probably because of how insecure she was about getting closer to the boy. And the sight made the clench in his ribs almost unbearable.
He was kind of stupid wasn't he? Suddenly barging into her place in the middle of the night despite having insulted her a few hours ago. It had taken for her to properly guide the unlucky chandelier group — aka him, the magicless student, whoever this dormmate of his was and a highly sensitive beast — through the obstacle the mine monster was for him to realize that she wasn't as boring as what he had told her. And now that he was before her, he remembered how he had never properly apologized.
He opened his mouth, but it seemed that the two of them had the same idea as their voices overlapped over one another. It resulted in an awkward silence that became a just as awkward game of "you first." And his persistence made him win the game.
Her knees brushed against one another as she tried to get her words out. "I know that the couch is not comfortable, so if you want you can always sleep in my bed." Eh? That was even more unexpected than what he had imagined. Didn't she mean that she wanted him to leave? Wasn't she supposed to be angry at him for how he had belittled her so far? And he made sure to voice those thoughts to her.
"I guess that… I am a little angry about that. But I don't like being caught in problems, and I don't want you to sleep under the rain too." The water drop that hit his face empathized her claim. As he wept it off his cheek with the back of his blazer and cursed the shady state of the building, he thought about how kind she was. Too much even. He was not one to be bothered by such things, but he was oh so guilty when she would selflessly try to bring him comfort — and at the back of his mind, the idea that someone other than would take advantage of it surely grew to become something he feared.
He drapped his arms over the back of the sofa, a playful smile hanging on his lips. "So~ You're okay with letting me sleep in your bed? You can't take it back once you've said yes!" A yelp left his mouth as a coil found fun by jabbing his behind.
"I've already proposed it to you… I can't just take it back now." Right! That's why he had said that she was boring. She had never talked back, they had been glued to each other for an entire day but she was just being placide and let everything unfold before her. It was a shame, especially after he had seen how she had the power to easily fix problems and had a complex yet interesting way of thinking. But so, at least he didn't have to beg to have things go his way. It would've been awkward to use the argument of his slim body to gain even the slightest bit of sympathy.
"Then come on, lead the way." She sighed as she got up, clearly displeased by the way he was addressing her, but not wanting to express it.
After they had entered the room, she had gone straight to bed, watching from time to time as he got himself ready to sleep. The urge to tease her about it died whenever he looked at her. Her eyes, expressing how expectant she was for him to finish, stopped him from doing so. And the way she was coddled up under the cover like a child made the guilt come back. She looked cute like that, and that was a damn stupid thought for him to have.
He eventually slid under the cover, his buttoned up shirt was partially open and he had kept his trousers on to keep some kind of decency. She did mention that he was allowed to sleep in his underwear after he had jokingly asked about it, arguing that she was used to it as she had brothers, and if needed she could put pillows in-between them. It may have been too straightforward for him, and before he could properly think about it he had already disagreed saying that it was only a joke.
Minutes passed where the two of them thought about the one by their side in silence. Their reflexions going from a simple "he's stupid" to more complex ones. And Ace was not one to keep himself from expressing his opinions. If he had something to say, then he would say it. "You're too kind, you know? Think about yourself more, you need to strengthen yourself a bit." It broke the stillness between them.
She shuffled under the cover, pulling it even higher above her face as if to hide it. Not that he could even see her half lidded eyes, dropped with sadness, to begin with as it was too dark. "Am I not already?" He turned towards her, unconsciously trying to make out the shape of her face despite knowing that he couldn't. "I'm "kind" as you say, but for me it's only a mean to avoid any problems that can be an obstacle to my peace. I just want to be comfortable, and I'll do anything to be. Isn't that egoism?" The silence that followed made her question her words, forgetting about the boy laying beside her. Just like everyone she had needs that had to be fulfilled, and those needs were the only thing that pushed her forward despite the hole in her heart. If she couldn't have her family by her side, if she couldn't let go of this loneliness, she could at least work out something that will compensate and make her forget about those worries.
"You're as kind as you're dumb to say things like that without hesitation." She almost choked at his words, and the snickers that followed let her understand that he had found fun in her short surprise. Part of the dip beside her disappeared as he sat up. "Shit I've never imagined talking about this kind of stuff so late at night… So what? Now it's selfish to wish for something and to work for it? And you could've just given me the sofa, but you've still offered me the bed because I could've caught a cold. If you feel that you have any obligation related to my health then you might as well be kind." A whine left the back of her throat before she could have stopped it.
She hated those words. "Kind." She was just a normal and average human being, she didn't like those labels that would be thrown at her whether she liked it or not. It was distressing in a way how some people felt the need to put nice words for her as if she had deserved it.
The mattress once again dipped, but this time on each side of her face. She was surprised that his hands were caging her head and his hot breath fawning over her face. He was on all four above her, he had moved so swiftly she had barely had the time to register it. "It seems to me that you're just overthinking." She felt the heat of his body licking her skin as he got closer to her, his arms bending and allowing him to do so. "I can try and make you forget about it, what do you think?"
He patiently waited, knowing that it may seem to her that his request was out of the blue. But she was oh so tempting, and he couldn't stop thinking about her ever since they had left each other after the mine incident. He had never been interested in these kinds of things but somehow she was messing with his internal compass, messing with his mind and reminding him that he was still so full of needs that were left unattended for a while already. And hey, she needed to get rid of those intrusive thoughts, and he wanted her. So he might as well kill two birds with one stone.
"Do you have a condom?" A what now? She let out another sigh, one that he knew he would get accustomed to, and traced the side of his face with the tip of her fingers.
"It doesn't seem like you had sex before." Now he was surprised. For her to say such crude words without any shame but at the same time struggling to tell him off when he was annoying her. And the way he just shut himself off made her assume that she was right (and she was.) "I'm not more experienced than you, but I know a thing or two. And I know that we need a condom."
"Why? It's not like you can get pregnant on your first time?" The high pitched noise that rang through the room as she slapped her forehead with the heel of her hand was way more effective in letting Ace know just how stupid she thought he was than a mere sigh.
"I… don't think that I have the willpower to explain things in-depth to you at the moment." She gently took his hands and sat up to be at the same level as where she believed his face was. "Just know that yes I can, and we won't do a thing without a condom." She plopped herself back in the bed and set herself back to sleep.
"Sleep tight, Ace. Have nice dreams."
He had yet to move from where he was kneeling. She had put an end so easily to the conversation, he was even doubting that it had ever happened. What the hell were those things she knew, and why was he curious to hear about it? But eventually he came back to the problem at hand as he settled too on his side of the bed. "Where am I even supposed to get those?"
"800 students, some of them are bound to develop some kind of physical relationship." He hummed at that, as if to say that he was giving it some thought even if he didn't care about it. "The infirmary must give some condoms to avoid STDs. Or there's a shop on the way here, maybe they're selling some there." Oh so she was telling him where to look for those. As much as he liked the idea of getting close to her —and wow, it was his first time ever wanting someone this much— he didn't trust himself to actually have the courage to buy them. Even imagining getting them was enough of a hassle for him. Having condoms was not his top priority and he was lazy just thinking about them.
"Thanks I guess." Well too bad, they won't have sex. But maybe that was a good thing. He was not one to follow societal wildly spread conceptions (as your first-time was important) but maybe that this once, it wouldn't be a bad thing to listen to them.
_____
He came back the very next day. Condom in hand.
Now, to avoid any misunderstanding, it would be nice to mention that he wasn't desperate enough to get them. If anything he had told himself that he wouldn't get them and that he should just forget about getting more intimate with her.
Yet, it had seemed that his dorm had other plans. His senior, Cater he believed his name was, had suddenly given him a handful of those plastic packages of various sizes. "Riddle's order! Every frosh are to be safe!☆" He had said when he saw how appalled Ace was. It was actually more of the nurse's order after she had chewed Crowley out for the lack of security in the school. He also added that they were to have every size to be sure to have something that fits them, it would be bad if it was too small for them to wear, right? Not every dorm was particularly uptight about this rule, and even fewer of them tried to hand them the right size — so far only Heartslabyul and Pomefiore had made this kind effort. While Riddle wasn't exactly fond of this rule, rules are rules and he still cared for those under him, so he might as well go all out.
Now the school's problem had become his, and he didn't know how to approach her. He was already in front of the rundown building after asking his dormhead the permission to sleep at her place, but how should he bring the subject back? He didn't care about how others may see him, but she was somehow a different story.
After taking a deep breath, he knocked. It didn't take long for the door to open and he cheerfully greeted her, a hand scratching the back of his head. "Hey prefect! You don't mind me crashing at your place again, right?" She stared blankly before welcoming him with a small "sure" that led to a dutiful silence. And this awkward smile on her lips was a nightmare to look at. How could it both drive him away but also stir his heart so badly?
As he entered, he finally saw her lack of clothes. The only pair of pants she had had been ditched somewhere and replaced with shorts that could barely be seen above her dirty white blouse. Upon further inspection, her entire body was painted with black spots and her buttoned up shirt had turned a dark brown with whatever liquid had drenched it.
"Errh, what happened to you?" She looked down at her poor state before becoming even more reserved. He was surprised to see her pouting as she awkwardly pulled at her clothes.
"I was trying to see what was wrong with the water heater, I hate having to shower with a bucket." She sighed as she stretched her back, hands placed on her back as she bent backwards. "But the thing is beaten down, there's no way I'll have hot water any time soon." She whined even louder and great seven, it was the first time he had ever heard her being so genuine! She even sounded approachable. If she kept such extraversion, surely the bullying would slowly soften. She wasn't an opportunist after all, and they would come to understand this.
"If you really need, I can always sneak you in my dorm. You won't mind sleeping with me, right?" The smirk that had formed on his lips paired with the boyish popular facial expression made her giggle. What was he trying to do? Didn't he say that sleeping with her was "meh"? (No offense, she did sense that he was joking) She turned around and walked him to the living room, her shoulders still shaking as she tried to hide her laughter.
He marveled at the state of the parlor. He had last entered it less than a day before, but it was vastly different then what he had remembered! She sat him down as he continued to watch his surroundings. "I tried to clean up a bit but it's still dirty… I'm sorry for the mess."
"What are you? A perfectionist?" She may have only removed a few paintings and thrown a worn out blanket over the sofa, it was enough for the room to change. "This is good enough." She gently laughed, still not quite sure how to react to the compliment.
Knowing the person Ace was —or at least had a semblance of an idea of it— she tried not to let the silence between them linger and asked him if he wanted to sit so as to not make things awkward. It may have had the contrary effect because he was frowning as he made himself comfortable on the couch. And when she asked if he wanted a coffee to drink he just snapped.
"What are you? An old woman? Stop acting like one, shit. 'Is so fucking boring…" He grumbled the last part and crossed his arms. His annoyed eyes were sending daggers as she was left trying to find her words, mouth repeatedly opening and closing.
She eventually brought her fist up and coughed inside after finally snapping out of her surprise. "So… why did you come here?" She tried not to think much of his words. They only fed her insecurities, but if she were to express them right now, wouldn't it just confirm what he had said? If anything, she had learnt that talking about feelings was considered "boring" by most people her age. "And what's up with the bag?" She tried to change the subject by pointing said object with a finger, but it actually made him uneasy.
He tried to answer, catching himself multiple times to rectify and find the right words before eventually giving up. Instead he gave her said bag. "Condoms." He said right when she opened it.
Much to his displeasure, the silence that they (more like she, he didn't make any efforts so far to make her feel better) had tried so hard to push away all this time had finally found its way in their conversation. She was carefully processing what was before her and by the time she had eventually come to accept what it was, he had become a small puddle of sweat.
"I didn't expect you to have so much in so little time." He blushed furiously at that and took the bag back. He was furious, seething, by what she was implying. He was NOT a pervert! And he wouldn't let her think so! Or that's what he tried to convince himself to think because he sure as hell was more embarrassed about it than angry. After all, it's the exact image he didn't want her to have about him.
But she was far from thinking this and– no, actually, a part of her was impressed by how obsessed and eager he may have been, even if that's not the actual case.
"Hey dumbass! What makes you think I prepared all of these?!" He sat back down, putting all his plastic square packages in between his legs. One hand was tightly gripping his thigh while the other was hiding his bright red face from her. "Some older guy in my dorm gave me those, apparently it's a dorm rule for every student to receive them at the beginning of the year…" His voice barely escaped from his fingers, only managing to come out as an almost indescribable grumbling.
"Then it's a good coincidence for us." She came closer to him and much to his embarrassment, she put a hand in the bag, grazing her hand against and stimulating his growing hard on as she rummaged through it to grab a few of the small packages. She eventually fished out a couple of the condoms, and showed them off to the boy. "So which one's your size?"
"How the hell should I know?"
She deflated at that. "Come on, every boy has measured it at least once. Isn't it important for you all to know about it —so you can compare it in the boy locker room?" The last part wasn't pronounced, but her understood her innuendo. He did actually measure it, but he wasn't going to talk about it so casually. His lack of answer only pulled a sigh out of her, one that quickly made him cower inside the uncomfortable sofa. She had moved to be on her knees, a soothing hand caressing his thighs as she looked up at him. "If you really don't know then I'll have to try each one of them. One by one."
Her fingers started playing with the zipper of his trousers, pulling it open with an ease that almost made him question if she really was new to this. "W- Wait!" He stopped what she was doing by taking her hands in his. She looked at him, fixating on something other than the clothed bulge that was now out for her to see. "What a-are you doing? I- I'm not-... I mean no! I-I a…m actually…!"
She nodded and pulled her hands down against her bent knees. He sighed at her action, but quickly straightened back. There was no way in hell she had understood what he was trying to say, so why was she nodding understandingly. There were many ways for her to misinterpret it, and if she actually did, he didn't know what he would do–
"Ah yes, consent. I understand if you don't want to. I got ahead of myself and thought we were about to do it, I'm deeply sorry for assuming things and—"
He cut her off with an undignified "eeh?!" that made her tilt her head to the side. "Where the hell is this story about consent coming from?" She was about to answer but he shook his head from side to side. "You know what, I don't even want to know." He continued talking, explaining that what he was actually trying to say was his size. Dick size. And that she didn't have to test each condom.
She picked up and ripped a packet of the right size open with a relieved sigh. "I was honestly scared of wasting so much condoms." She took the rubber out and examined it closely before watching the lubricant stretching into a bridge between her fingers. "I've never actually put a condom on something before so it's a first for me." She put it back on the opened package and went back to working with his now rocking hard cock.
"Please don't be too harsh with me."
He gulped down the excess of saliva to try and cool off his face. She was adorable like that, pulling out his member, or more it being freed and slapping her square in the face. She let out a dissatisfied sound as she rubbed her eyes from the precum that had gotten on her eyelids.
"You're not circumcised." She pulled the foreskin down to let the head of his cock free for her to see. If the precum was a lot before, now that the tip was out in the open, she could see just how much of a mess it was. She hummed as she circled the hole at the very top of it and enjoyed each of his twitching. "I've never seen an uncircumcised one so close… but don't worry, as long as you're clean, I'm down for you." She let out a string of "hehe" that made his blood pump faster. He grabbed the back of her head and pulled her back so that she could directly connect her eyes with his.
"Stop joking around already." She agreed to do so in a tone that almost made him question whether she would really do it or not, and went back to her forgotten condom.
She recited, one by one, every step needed to put a condom on under her breath, guiding herself into doing it as Ace visibly didn't have much knowledge. Once it was done, she brightened up and happily clapped his thigh, which made him hiss with pain.
"In one go!" She happily said with a proud smile that was all too bright for him. His fingers that were still planted into the root of her hair brought her attention back to the twitching member in front of her by angling it back to where it was at first.
"A-Ah wait… I'm a bit nervous… I've never done this before." But she was only shoved forward as an answer, her cheek planting against his pelvis. His penis was now right before her nose and mockingly staring back.
"Then you'll learn." She timidly sniffed it, something that took him aback.
She pecked it at first, trying to see how it would go, and the first impression being quite good, she switched to small stripes being licked along his shaft. While it was rather tasteless for her, his breath was heavy and his body had become unbearably hot.
He popped a few buttons of his shirt open, letting his chest breath as she moved to the base of his dick where two fingers were tightly pressing it. He didn't expect to feel all of her touches so vividly with a condom on, but she had once again found a way to surprise him.
His fingers moved from the back, where he painfully was gripping the small hairs along her nape, to the top of her head when she finally shifted her attention back to the tip of his shaft. A hand still lingered at the base where she kept a tight grip while the other was pumping up and down.
It started with small kisses that quickly became her pumping his cock in her mouth. The first try had left her a coughing mess, but the second was much more successful after making her hand into a fist. He did marvel for a second at the technique, wondering if it would actually work, but his mind went into shambles when the warmth of her cavity wrapped his lower half in a steamy hug.
She tried to peek up at him, wanting to see his facial expression, but couldn't do so as his hand only but pressed her further down his aching shaft. Later, when he would cum inside the plastic protection, she would have the time to see it as he would bask into his aftermath.
And it may have come earlier than what she had expected because he removed himself from her mouth not long after. He fisted his rod as he kept her in front of him. Was it because he wanted to get off to her face or because he imagined her covering with his cum? He didn't know, but both were good endings for him.
He eventually came, the condom swelling with the amount of sperm he had let out and she just watched, fascinated, as it did so. He came rather fast, but she was not worried at all, and she was ready to comfort him if he ever felt down about it. It was normal for a first-time, and she was more curious about the taste than the time.
"Was it good?" She asked as she started to take the condom off. She carefully carved the sight of his flushed face, drooling and seemingly fucked out of his mind, in her memories. She was not one to masturbate, but this image could only become a great fantasy for her to get off to for the next following days.
He let out a small moan as he stretched his back and tilted his head down to see what she was doing. "Yeah, I didn't expect it to be so good actually." Thankfully he had finished his words in time, she had started to remove the condom, and he feared just how embarrassing it would have been if he had to explain why he had stopped talking halfway through. She was pushing every last bit of his cum out of the plastic and onto the tongue she had stuck out.
A humm left her as she swallowed it all, a thumb passing over her lips and chin to pick any leftovers before popping it inside her mouth. "It's kind of sweet. You should watch your diet." He groaned as she merely laughed.
"Shut up. I'm not here for diet advice." His words only made her laugh harder.
But she quickly came to a stop. "Ah wait, that was a bad move."  She got up and dusted herself with a sigh under his curious eyes. "You can still get STDs by swallowing semence."
"Are you implying that I have STDs?" It seemed to get on his nerves, and she quickly tried to reiterate her words.
She sat on his legs and shook her head. "No, but there's always a possibility even if you're a virgin." For whatever reason, the last word made him frown even more. Why do boys his age have to be so hard to work with? His ego was truly something else. "There's also a possibility that I have those, so don't take it as something personal. I'm just trying to make you pick up good habits."
But he didn't listen. Now that she was on him, he could feel her warm and dripping cunt on his limp manhood. Even with two layers of clothes, it was impossibly wet and coated him with her juice. He had put two hands on her hips as she was talking and had started to grind her against him.
She quickly saw what he was doing and gently wrapped her arms around his neck and arched her back to press her chest against his open one. "You've barely come a minute ago, shouldn't you wait before going back to it?" But he merely groaned as an answer and buried his face in the junction of her neck.
He continued his movements, which have been gradually increasing in force, as her heavy breath picked up with the pace and blessed his ears.
Still pressed against him, she slid to fingers in-between their body to continue his previous work. The last buttons of his shirt were popped open and she removed the piece of cloth from him.
"Aaah… W- Wait…" she gently pushed her hands against his chest and backed from the rod grinding against her. "We need another condom." He mindlessly nodded but felt awfully frustrated when her fingers left him to search for a new piece of rubber.
She did the same as before after opening the package, saying aloud what she was doing as she pinched the tip of the condom and rolled it over his shaft.
He curiously watched as she raised herself above his rocking hard erection, her expression rather unsure and her bottom lip tightly grasped in-between her teeth. "Uh, shouldn't I prepare you or something." He was not one to care much about others, but surely she wasn't about to put herself through pain, right?
She flushed at his words and nervously tapped his shoulders. "Don't worry… We'll just go slowly." She had thought that he had forgotten about it all. With how uncomfortable she was with her body, she thought it would be best for her to just skip such steps so she could avoid any types of embarrassment. Surely the pain won't be so bad if they were to take their time.
He didn't push her further on, thankfully for her, and she slowly pushed herself against him. And maybe that she should have thought twice about this lame idea because she had to stop when the tip was barely in. The blush on his cheeks came back when she once again pressed her chest to his, except this time hissing and twitching.
A few minutes passed where the two of them were too engrossed in both their current fixation — him enjoying the feel of her clothed breasts against him and her laboured breath, and she, focusing on his fast beating heart, before he came back to the current situation at hand. "Uhh, you're sure you're good?"
"Yeah…Yeah yeah." She mindlessly nodded as she took the chance to continue her way down his shaft. Despite the slight uncomfortable feeling of being full, she had indeed relaxed. She eventually came to a stop when her ass was pressed against his thighs and it pulled a moan out of him that she gladly let her ego feed on.
"Uh, you seem to like it." He didn't answer, his mind far too gone for him to properly care about the comment. He still buried his face in the crook of her neck when he felt her sliding off his cock.
She was using his shoulders as a leverage, two tight hands marking his skin with the crescent shapes of her nails, and slowly pulled herself upwards. At the same time, his face followed the shape of her body that was pressed against him. His nose ended up brushing her clothed breasts. And the material scratching his skin successfully pulled him out of his reveries.
Once she was high enough, the tip barely peeking from her cunt, she went back down. Although more easily this time. Both of their voice resonated in the empty room, and she was thankful that no-one was around to hear them — or at least they didn't make themselves known and avoided the parlour, which was just as good actually.
He was tempted to dig his fingers in the small of her back to switch to a faster pace, but the fabric that was still hiding her upper body was more bothering at the moment. His shaky hands moved to her buttoned up shirt, the way she was bouncing and moaning on top of him almost making him forget about what he was trying to do, and started undoing the buttons one by one. He deemed his mission complete when half of the blouse was open and didn't waste time diving in her breasts to bite and lick whatever parcel of skin was welcoming him.
Her whimpers and hitched breath only increased as shivers would rack her body to the point that she was only but uncontrollably twitching. And when her pace eventually faltered, Ace was sure to take over, two hands grasping her ass and jumping her on his thighs as he continued to shamelessly bite the top of her chest.
The dents of his zipper painfully turned her skin red with every thrust. But in the heat of the moment and the different overlapping sensations, it only further stimulated the coil that was painfully tightening in her lower half and made her voice higher.
She thanked whatever divine being she could imagine, her mind fading to a blank state with each of his trusts inside her and her body so hot that she feared that she would just succumb to it all. Her stomach twisted painfully when his pace suddenly picked up, something that she had never experienced before, and made her wonder if her end was getting closer.
But he stopped right when she felt herself reaching her peak.
He groaned as he let himself rest against the sofa. Now limp, he wasn't maintaining her body up, and she just fell forward against him.
How frustrating it was, her lower half was still pulsating with pleasure, and she couldn't understand why he stopped. "Ace, are you done?" She whispered from his shoulder, where her head was resting. He pressed a hand against his forehead before removing the sweat and hairs sticking on it.
"Uh…" oh he was still very much basking into the aftermath of his climax, and it took a while for her words to be understood by him, she even repeated herself when she heard how lost he was. "Yeah… yeah, shit that was– fucking shit it's-" He tried to utter some kind of answer but his mind was too much of a mess for him to properly think. At least he understood what she said now.
She sighed, tempted to press a kiss against the skin of his neck, but they weren't close enough for her to do it, right? If they were just some kind of one night stand (it's the middle of the afternoon,) they shouldn't kiss, it would be weird, wouldn't it?
She didn't expect her first time to end so abruptly. Yes she didn't hold many expectations, knowing that it would never be perfect, but she was still very upset. She eventually forced herself to think that they weren't even close to begin to even fathom him taking care of her like a boyfriend would, which they weren't.
His half lidded eyes opened wide when she removed herself from him. She had pressed her hand against his chest to help her up, and when his dick fell limp it of her he hissed. Her eyes lingered for a moment on the condom that was full, before focusing on closing the buttons of her shirt. "I'll take a shower first, you'll go after, okay?"
"Why?" Here she was, once again confusing him with her decision.
"You're staying here for the night, continuing the evening clean would be better I think." She's not wrong, but he didn't feel like bathing right now. Yet, before he would voice out his thoughts, she was already closing the door of the parlour behind her. Uh? Why was she so cold? It seemed that she reverted back to her placide and awkward self.
He pursed his lips, annoyed by how the mood just fell flat after her sudden change. As said before, he didn't like holding onto whatever most people deemed as a "social norm", like treating his first-time like something so special that you needed to plan it and idealise it. But her leaving so abruptly somehow sat wrong with him, it even woke him up from his dazed state.
Now he had to wait for both of them to bathe before addressing whatever stupid thing was going through her head. Hopefully it won't take long.
_____
After drinking water and properly washing themselves off of any remaining fluids, they both basked into each other's presence and continued on with their pajama party. He had come late into the afternoon and by the time they had finished cleaning up, the sun was not visible anymore, only a faint gradient of orange and purple was seen.
The bath had been ice cold, thanks to the destroyed water heater, but after lighting the fire in her bedroom's fireplace and placing a few logs inside to keep it alive, it was much more bearable. They both laid on the ground before it, enjoying its heat.
"Are you bipolar or something?" She turned towards him, surprised to see that he was already looking at her. Even more unexpected, he was frowning. Why was he suddenly pissed? It's not like she had done anything… Or perhaps was it her lack of engagement that brought this sudden behaviour? He did mention that she was boring… And she wasn't making her situation after all. "Just talk instead of creating those weird scenarios in your head." He could clearly see on her face that she was not getting any of what he was saying.
She was lost. Was it not her uninteresting self that was annoying him? "Then… What's the problem?" She couldn't see what possibly annoyed him.
"Can't you guess?" Well obviously, it seemed that she couldn't. She was staring at the ceiling absently, uncertain about what he was expecting from her and how she should fulfill these expectations. "Why did you suddenly close yourself after what we did." Oh.
She awkwardly laughed, what was he talking about? Perhaps was he mentioning the brief moment when she realised that they were not close. But it was the truth, they were not, and she shouldn't have open herself to him in hopes of something more.
"It's nothing, really." Her words did nothing to quell the conflicting feelings inside him. As if she could just end the conversation with only a "it's nothing."
"How about you tell me more about the Great Seven." Despite the proposition coming out of the blue, it was far from some kind of random conversation subject. The mirror above the fireplace reminded her, for some mysterious reasons, of the statues of the seven great figures by the school's entrance. And it was a nice way to get out of the chat he wanted to have.
"Why would I even talk about them?"
"Because I'm too dumb?" She was using his words against him uh? Well at least it seems like she was once again getting comfortable with him if she was able to talk back like this. So he just let it go, hoping that one story would be enough for them to continue their previous talk, but when she answered back with a tale of her own world, it was too late.
Ace was still much more reluctant to keep this peace up, starting a "it's boring" streak (hopefully she would just go back to why she had became so cold back in the living room), but one mention of paranormal stories from her world and she had his full attention. Each and every story somehow managed to catch his attention, so much that they didn't see the time flashing before them.
"Aaaah!" She stretched her back, a long tired moan emphasizing the arch of it, which caught his attention. Hey, now that he was thinking about it, she had yet to show herself to him, as in, he still hasn't seen her naked, did heN?
She jumped when she felt his hand sneaking under her loose shirt and barely grazing her skin. But when she turned around, the only thing she saw, and was surprised by, was his focused face as more and more of her body was shown as he moved it higher. "What… What are you doing?"
He hummed, a mischievous smile on his lips. "You escaped our talk there, lemme take a small revenge~" A moan resonated in the room, tuned out by the crackling of the burning wood before them, when she felt another electric shock coursing through her due to his cold finger. And the sound, almost unheard, still managed to stir the heat in his body. Eh, he might as well just go for another round.
He turned her around, much to her confusion, and pulled her down with him. An involuntary sigh left his lips when he felt her breast against his chest. He used to consider himself an ass person, but clearly his judgement was wrong. Not that he would kill for them, but her breast were definitely becoming his fixation.
"Is there a problem Ace?" He groaned, thrusting his lower half against her as an answer.
"Let's do it again." She let an audible "oh" left her mouth before chuckling, her face hidden in his clothes. He could only feel her body, twitching with the laughter she tried so hard to hide, but it was enough for him to frown. Not that he was displeased and annoyed by her reaction,  but he definitely was.
She eventually calmed down when she heard him muttering something to himself. "Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you in any way." She trailed a ginger along his neck, fixating her gaze on the skin peeking under his shirt. "I just didn't expect you to be so eager…" A strangled huff was heard right after. Clearly, despite her apologetic tone she was far from it, her poorly stopped laugh the most obvious proof he could have ever got.
He wanted to retort back, how could she claim being so apologetic then mock him so easily? But his words died when she pressed her lips against his collarbone. And at the contact, they both froze. Did she… just do what she told herself not to do not even an hour before?
Immediately after she threw herself up, flustered by what she just did. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to do that! I just… I don't know what came over me…" Her hands were immediately covering her face shamefully, shielding it from Ace. But the boy was far from being concerned about her shyness, the soft touch of her lips was way more comforting than what he could have possibly thought.
But when the silence they were in stretched more than what she knew shouldn't have been, normally Ace would have made a nasty comment by now, she peeked behind her finger so see what was troubling him. Much to her surprise, his cheeks were turning to a deep red, wide eyes staring at her with confusion. "You don't mind what I did?" Her timidity, this time, didn't seem to anger him, far from it, he was even nodding mindlessly.
It was now or never, right? She bent forward once again, her hot breath fawning over his skin a short instant before she pressed another kiss on the same spot as previously. A deep sigh was heard, and his body relaxed right after. It was good, surprisingly, how her touches were like heaven against his skin. He didn't think of himself as a romantic guy, but maybe that he was just trying to fool himself all this time. Because when her lips dragged lower and lower, forcing her to open his shirt, he knew damn well that he was too far gone for her.
And now that he had her draped all over himself, relishing into the way she was covering his body with all types of affection, the fact that they had never once kissed each other suddenly made him restless.
"Hey, prefect." She separated herself from his chest where she was lavishing him with her own praises. The rope of spit connecting his perked up nipple from her lower lips made an uncontrollable shiver run along his spine.
"Hmm?" She sat on his stomach, waiting for whatever he was going to say. But how unexpected it was, for him to suddenly jerk up and press his lips against hers. Just as fast, she moved back, hissing as her teeth throbbed with how hard he had hit her.
"SHIT— That hurts like hell!" He complained while desperately breathing air in as if it would cool his pain down. She put a hand on his shoulder to catch his attention, and only when he looked up could he see the frown on her face as she passed her tongue over her aching teeth.
"Be careful when you're trying to kiss someone." Her hands moved to his cheeks, angling his face towards hers with half lidded eyes. "It's supposed to be a mark of affection, you can't be too rough you know." And with that she pressed her lips against his, more softly than what he previously tried.
Oh he was definitely a romantic now.
The kiss was slow, his fingers finding solace by caressing her sides as her own hands went to his hair, playing with the small tresses that would often pass in the crevices adorning her hands. And one tug was enough to set the temperature higher, the all too familiar burning from their past session returning much harder. His tongue pressed against her lips, pressing against her own when she opened her mouth, and the open-mouthed kiss was the official announcement of yet another round.
The fingers that were exploring her chest grew bolder as they trailed down. Should he grind her against him like he did a while before? Anchoring them on her waist to leave marks testifying that he was here first? It was more than tempting actually, but he was more curious about something else. The kiss was broken so she could bite the back of her hand instead when she felt him grazing her clit.
Now what was he doing? Why was he suddenly caressing her in a place he had barely even thought about exploring before? While she was left panting over his shoulders, his thoughts swirled with delirious ideas.
Yeah, he was romantic as fuck, and needed to fuck her just as good. She was insecure about her damn body? Then he should just show her how much he appreciated it, and please her in a way that would make her forget about seeing any guy other than him. Maybe that they will drift apart at one point, that she will find someone else to nicely pamper her before fucking her up, but she would never forget about him. He's her first, and she will be obsessed with him till the end.
She was thrown on her bed much to her surprise, or more like a bunch of mattresses on top of one another to make up for the fact that the first one had fallen through the bedframe a few nights before, and he joined soon after.
Both of his hands dipped inside the blankets under her head as his face got closer to hers. Her face heated up when she opened her eyes to see him above her, a knee parting her legs mischievously before he shifted his body so he could be above her hips. His fingers dragged the loose shirt that she used as a pajama up, and her running shorts were pulled down, allowing him to see her pair of plain panties. Now was not the time to comment on it, he wanted to see how she would react once he was eating her out.
He quickly discarded the piece of garment away from his sight (they were just hanging on one leg) before tentatively blowing on where he thought her clit would be. And lucky him, immediately after she let out a small whimper to let him know that he found it. For a first time he wasn't that bad, huh?
His finger ran along her slit, finding quite easily her hole and pushing two in. Her arousal was enough for them, but he knew that he had to stimulate her a bit more if he wanted to fit one or two more inside. And so, disregarding her sound as he was more focused on a solution to please her, his attention switched back to her clit where his tongue slowly approached it. He was suddenly pressed against it, mouth fully enclosing it as she had taken a handful of his hair and tried to pull him closer.
Her fingers gripped and tugged his hair, frustration ironically eating her out as his tongue was pressed flat against the small bud he was sucking. At the same time, the slender limbs inside her picked up in pace. The overwhelming sensations all building up, the euphoria more present than ever before. Would she come undone in the next few seconds? Most probably she feared, but she was too much into this unholy craziness to allow herself to doubt too much. She was finally coming after all. He didn't left her to fend for herself for too long it seemed, maybe he even cherished her a little like her with him. And the happiness of such meaningless and unproved implications had so easily triggered her release.
His name, strangled, was cried as his head was trapped in-between her thighs that she had involuntarily closed. Despite how uncomfortable it was, he continued to lap at any of her juice his tongue could get, even taking the chance to explore her inside more thoroughly than with his fingers.
When her body eventually relaxed, he took the chance to move away from the warm spot between her thighs. He surprisingly liked it. Her heat, her taste, her skin, her noises, they were way more enjoyable than what he had thought. And his throbbing length was just as enamored.
When he saw her starting to fall asleep, he quickly moved her body around, giving small and painless slaps on her cheeks to keep her awake. "Hey prefect, don't fall asleep now. I still need you." She tiredly hummed, her mind still blurry as both sleep and pleasure claimed her mind. But he could see that she was barely responding.
He groaned as he tried to unbuckle his belt with one hand, the other one pulling her legs apart, and successfully opened it after struggling for a short while. Any trace of tiredness disappeared when she felt him entering her hole eagerly without much foreplay to back him up. Thankfully her previous release was enough to lub him, but the compassion for it was a highly sensitive and overstimulated body.
Her arms immediately joined themselves behind his neck, bringing him closer to her and forcing him to push a hand beside her head. He dragged his shaft back, the motion stealing one of the moans that were quick to build up at the back of her throat, before diving back inside her. The repetitive motion effortlessly broke her sanity, with each of them, paired with her previous climax, her brain became too overwhelmed.
At one point, he pressed back the bulb-like tip against her cunt with a hiss as she was babblering words of affection at him, hoping to make him move faster in her delirious state. Thankfully for her, his mind was just as muddy as hers, and he happily listened to her wishes.
His eyes rolled at the back of his head. He had fully, and unannounced, gone fully in and was squished by her tight warm walls. He felt like they were sucking him more with each twitch of his body, and maybe that was the case as her breath would adorably itch whenever he did so.
She was his. This body overflowing with insecurities and heating up with each passing seconds was his. It was him who had stick his cock so fucking deep inside that she had started babblering some nonsense about how much she loved him. Him who was brushing her cervix with his raw dick. She was the one that had made him wait for him to have some rubbers, but now she was fucked without one just because she was head over heels for his cock.
"A—Awn… So-… Y– You love me?" He wouldn't have tried to tease her a while ago, when she was sucking him off and he had prematurely come, but now that she had lost any bits of reasonable thinking, she was easy to talk to. And the way she was deliriously nodding made him smirk manically.
He slowly slid himself off before slamming back in with a noise that threatened to make any souls passing by cower with fear. She let out a high pitched moan that cut her answer off. She tried to regain herself back, but the sudden and continuous assault only managed to reduce her to a whining pitiful mess. His scent, down to his meat beating her, was too much for her brain to understand what was going on. After a few orgasms, the only thing it wanted was to feel Ace grinding up against her as her body chased yet another one of those releases.
"M- Much!" He hummed back, although it was broken from time to time as he would thrust into her worn down body without any care, to let her know that he was listening. "L— Love you zhis much!" Her slurred speech was barely discernible, but the heart she made with her fingers, hands pressed against the fat of her chest, was enough for him to understand.
And he came just with that.
His sudden hot, almost burning, semence made her shudder and a shiver ran through her body. But she didn't have much time to think about it before Ace laid beside her and wrapped an arm around her waist despite his fluid dripping out of her, he was not bothered. Far from it actually, he was quite proud about it.
When looked down at her, he was not surprised to see her already sleeping with tears already drying on her skin. She was definitely tired, and even if she had made a fuse earlier as she had asked him to take a bath, exhaustion had made sure to hit her before she could even think about it.
He was tempted to chuckle but stopped himself from doing when a yawn was forced out of his mouth instead. It was early in the night, barely the end of evening, but he sure was tired. And looking at her peacefully cuddling against him was a nice arguments to get him to close his eyes.
_____
The next morning, quite early at that as the sun barely peaked its nose between the dirty half ripped curtains, Ace woke up to movements by his side as he felt her sliding off the bed. He cracked his eyelids open, but the only thing he could make out was her putting on a pair of panties and a t-shirt, his shirt, that had been discarded the night prior.
She quickly left to go to who knew where, but he wasn't conscious enough to properly think about it. Whatever. He closed his eyes back after some time and tried to go back to sleep. His poor efforts were rewarded by the sound of the door cracking open.
Despite clearly trying to stay quiet, the wooden planks would howl under her weight and he eventually stopped trying after a while.
He reopened his eyes to her, hitching the bed cover up, ready to go back to sleep. He sat up which caught her attention and made her stop halfway through her action. She whispered soft words to him, excusing herself for waking him up, but the way she was bent over, trying to reach out for him as her shirt had moved way pass over her stomach and gave him a clear view of her soiled panties — the waking sun laying a soft blanket of light along the arch of her back, made an all too familiar intensity come back in his lower stomach.
He gripped her hand and pulled her under the cover. A small yelp left her, one that was quickly swallowed by him as he eagerly pressed his lips against hers in a messy kiss. Tongues and teeth meeting one another so early in the morning that she was barely conscious of it all.
A small giggle resonated in the room during the small time he had broken away from her to take a deep breath. The tip of his fingers had found a way inside her shirt, caressing the side of her stomach and leaving a stimulating trail of goosebumps behind them.
His lips went back to hers, but instead of connecting them, he left them hanging near each other teasingly. "Fuck, I want you…" He almost whined as his half awakened cock rubbed against her almost too shallowly.
"It's like 6 in the morning, we should sleep more before preparing for school." But her words fell into deaf ears as his hips moved with more force, his dick pressing against her despite the layers of clothes in-between them to the point where she could almost feel him penetrating her.
Her breath would be cut by a moan from time to time as she tightly gripped his shoulders. "Don't care about school." One harsh thrust made her bite the back of her hand with how loud her whine was. "I want to feel you again."
And maybe that she felt just the same because it was all it took for her to succumb to him.
When they finished, she could hardly feel her legs with how stimulated she had been in such a short amount of time. Each and every little movement brought the pain back, but it was also a pleasurable reminder of how much she liked it, enough that it almost made her ask Ace for more. Almost. Still it was enough for her to be more forgetful than usual.
Even Deuce had to step in when he picked both her and Ace up for school. He was a blushing mess as he pointed the trail of cum slowly dripping down her inner thigh. And when she had, quite detached at that much to his surprise, hoisted her skirt up to remove it with a piece of tissue, the sight of the ropes of cums desperately clinging between her exposed skin and underwear threatened to make him faint.
He didn't know what happened, but Ace would be sure to hear about his thoughts.

There were a multitude of reasons why you loved Jisung. Some were small, like the way he rubs his eyes when he’s sleepy, trying to get his watery, tired eyes to wake up. Some were big, like the way he knows exactly how to comfort you when the world becomes too much. It was a never ending list, extending daily to add the new little things that make you fall head over heels for him again and again.
But something you really loved, even though slightly unconventional, was how easy it was to rile your boyfriend up. It was almost effortless (the thought of you in his dress shirt still gives him a semi if he thinks about it too long), something easy to do that always gave you exactly what you wanted.
Key word: almost.
Because today, it was almost impossible to do so, no matter how hard you tried.
Your attempts started early in the morning. Neither of you had alarms set, the only thing you had to do that day in the late evening, so you had plenty of time to spend together in bed. Your eyes felt a little heavy as you opened them up, body wiggling to stretch the sleep out as you emerged from slumber. It was earlier than you would like - clock reading just past 8:00 - but now that you were up, it was impossible to fall back asleep.
Rolling over in the cotton sheets, you find the body you had moved away from in your sleep. Jisung laid flat on his back, brown hair a cloud of staticky fluff on the white pillowcase. His lips were parted, letting everything from little snores to drool dribble out. The duvet sat low on his chest, bare skin glowing in the sunlight that was breaking through the closed curtains. He was the picture of a peace right now; breathing even and eyelids twitching with dreams. It was such a sweet sight.
Too bad you couldn’t focus on that right now.
Instead your eyes fell to the dark marks left across his collarbones. Freshly made, they had turned purple overnight and looked so pretty peppered across his skin. You didn’t even notice that you were biting down on him at first. It wasn’t until Jisung groaned out, head rolling back as you began to bounce harder on his dick.
“Fuck, I love when you bite me like that.” Nails dug into your hips as he leaned back in his desk chair, moaning into the empty studio.
His words only spurred you to bite him more. To mark him up and claim him as yours, as if there were any question as to who Jisung “belonged” to.
You curled into his side, kissing his shoulder lazily as you got comfortable. Still sleeping, his lifts his arm, wrapping it around you and pulling you in so you’re flush to his body. He mumbles a bit before falling silent again, the only sound his deep breaths.
Almost envious of his ability to sleep so heavy, you began to trace the ridges of his chest that weren’t tucked under the covers. You took your time, covering every inch of exposed skin before moving up to the small bruises. His collarbones were already his weak spot, and now with the added bruises, they were much more sensitive. Just the soft brush of your fingertips made your sleeping boyfriend moan lowly, shifting slightly as he began to stir.
You really should let him sleep. It’s going to be such a long day, it’s almost unfair to wake him up.
But the ache between your legs still made you shake, muscles worn out and begging for more. If you had to suffer, so did he. Isn’t that what relationships are all about? Mutual suffering?
A few more strokes to his collarbones and Jisung began to wake, grunting softly as his eyes fluttered open. His eyes were narrowed with confusion and exhaustion, hands clenched into fists as he rubbed them.
“What time is it?” His voice was low, raspy with sleep and lack of use. You always thought he sounded prettier in the mornings, the fire in your core sparking happily at his tone.
“About 8:15.” You whisper, moving your hand down his chest. This time you slipped under the covers, drawing a line with your fingertips all the way to his belly button before following it back up. “You sleep okay?”
He mumbled a yes, dropping his hands back to his side. “‘M still a little sleepy.”
Pouting, you apologize softly, daring to cover more of his torso with your hand. It had to be obvious what you wanted; even with sleep lingering in his mind, Jisung had to know that you wanted him. That you needed a remedy to the soreness in your inner thighs. “Do you want to go back to sleep?” You ask, giving him an out if he wanted to take it.
When he shook his head, your heart leaped into your throat, pounding like it was going to escape. Up and all yours now, your mind began to wander with thoughts of where the morning to go. Maybe Jisung would let you give him head, his fingers tangled in your hair as you lazily pleased him with your tongue. Maybe he’ll give you head, a tight grip on your outer thighs to keep you against his face. Maybe-
“I really need to work on a project.” He says, rolling on his side as he pushes himself out of bed. “Especially since we have that dinner tonight.”
You’re a little stunned; Jisung never willingly gets out of bed this early in the morning. You thought the odds were in your favor, the early hour and teasing seemed like the perfect equation for some lazy morning sex. Seeing your boyfriend stretch his arms up, waking himself up more, made your heart return to its normal spot. A slight disappointment filled your chest at the rejection. You know he knew what you were thinking - the bump in his boxer briefs were evidence enough - and he indirectly told you no. Usually the slight teasing would be enough. Usually his resolve would break without you really having to try.
“I’m going to hop in the shower and order breakfast. What do you want?”
You were actually going to have to put in work today. “Can I shower with you?”
The loving smile on his face made you feel warm and fuzzy. A large hand cupped your face, thumb stroking your cheekbone as he looked down at you fondly. You nuzzle into his hand, turning slightly so your lips could brush against the palm of it.
“You really should rest, baby.” His tone had a hint of amusement. “We have a big day today.”
Jisung left no room for argument, removing the hand from your face and making his way to the en-suite bathroom, leaving you stunned.
The rest of the day was filled with similar rejections; he really had to finish this track, the phone call with Chan was going on longer than he expected, Felix just really wanted to play games right now. By the afternoon, he had a slight smirk with every excuse, dismissing your efforts before you really even tried. It was becoming obvious that, just like you were setting out to tease him, he was doing the same to you. Before you knew it, it had become a competition: who could push the other to their breaking point first?
And fuck, you were determined to win.
You sat in the passenger seat of Jisung’s car, legs pulled up and tucked under you. The last three attempts to throw him off left you feeling defeated, debating on giving up and begging him for what you want.
His hand nudged your knee, slipping in between your pressed together legs. It rested on your lower thigh, squeezing lightly. “What’s on your mind, love?”
Locking your phone, you slipped it into the cup holder before giving your boyfriend your attention. He looked fucking good. A crisp, white dress shirt tucked into tight black slacks, the top few buttons undone and exposing the skin there. His jacket was thrown into the backseat, waiting to be worn once the two of you finally arrived. Your lips parted, a response on the tip of your tongue when you noticed something.
The way the collar of his shirt fell, with the buttons popped open, gave a peek of purple skin. Of faded bite marks.
And then you saw his grin. Wide, wolffish, reveling in his win.
“You’re not playing fair.” You said with a huff, pushing his hand off of you.
Jisung chuckles, bringing the banished hand to the steering wheel. That stupid fucking grin on his face just pisses you off more. “I don’t know what you mean.”
You narrowed your eyes at him, a new determination sparking in your lower belly. There was no way you were giving up now. If he wanted to play dirty, so could you.
//
You really pissed him off this time.
Like, seriously. You’ve never seen your boyfriend so angry, eyes so dark the flame behind them isn’t even visible. His tongue was pushed against the inside of his cheek, and by the way his jaw was clenched, you could guess he was biting down on the muscle as well.
He was mad. Madder than mad - he was livid. Furious. Irate. Whatever word you wanted to use to express his anger, it wasn’t strong enough.
And god, that made you so giddy, you were practically bouncing out of your seat.
Dinner started off fine — an unspoken peace as the competition was put on hold for the time being. You were there to celebrate Seungmin’s engagement, not to tease each other to the point of breaking. It was such an important event, you were willing to put everything on hold for your friend.
But Jisung haaaaaad to open his damn mouth.
The two of you sat at the edge of the large table, the champagne bottle making its way down. Finally arriving at your end, Jisung takes the bottle from Minho, shifting in his seat to pour your glass first. Maybe it was the way he was angled, maybe it was the lack of coverage, but more the marks you made began to show.
Minho chuckles softly, only loud enough for the three of you to hear. “Long night?”
Jisung looked up at his friend quizzically as he moved to fill his glass. “What?” With a nod of his head, your boyfriend’s attention was brought down to his upper chest. You hated the way his head popped back up, giving you that stupid fucking grin again before looking back at his friend. “More like afternoon.”
It really wasn’t much, just a suggestive statement that made Minho roll his eyes and scrunch his nose, but it was enough to make up your mind. Fuck the “truce”. You never liked to play fair anyway.
Slow and steady wins the race. Or rather, soft and gentle strokes to the inside of your boyfriend’s thighs add kindle to the smoldering fire in his core. Resting your head on his shoulder, it appears as if you’re just being affectionate. Jisung takes it that way, even turning to place a kiss on the tip of your head. Then your strokes slow down, inching higher and higher up his leg. Right as your touch barely brushed his crotch, he grabs your hand and forcefully puts it in your own lap.
“Not here.” He whispers, giving you a warning glance through the corners of his eyes. The unamusement in his stare couldn’t be more evident.
Jisung was blissfully unaware that he just gave you exactly what you wanted. The seed of annoyance was planted, and all you had to do was water it.
Between the meal itself and dessert, you succeeded in making him progressively more annoyed. The fact that his friends were all close by, and could potentially witness what you’re doing, helped the plant bloom. There was just one more thing you needed to do to set him off completely.
You slipped away to the bathroom without even being noticed, back less than five minutes later. The dessert had made it to the table, yours sitting untouched while Jisung was slowly savoring his chocolate cake.
“Good?” You ask as you slid back into your seat.
Jisung nods, eyes sparkling with delight from the deliciousness of his dessert. “So good. Do you want a-“
His offer was cut short by you not-so-subtly dropping your black lace panties in his lap. Right in the middle of his chewing. Right in front of the entire party, who just happened to not be looking in your direction.
Jisung didn’t finish his dessert.
The second the check was paid, he was grabbing you by the wrist, throwing a pathetic excuse to his friends as to why you were leaving early. It didn’t take a detective to figure out why he was all but dragging you out of the restaurant. His anger has to be taken out somehow, why not on the person who caused it?
Not a word was spoken the entire thirty minute car ride. Jisung had an iron grip on the wheel, pressing down on the accelerator to up the speed. He didn’t once look at you, to focused on getting fuck home and getting you the fuck out of that dress.
The second the car was parked in the garage, he reached across the console to grab the nape of your neck, pulling you over so his lips could crash against your own. The kiss is aggressive, his tongue forcing your lips to part to slide inside your mouth. Jisung swallows the soft moans you make, nails digging into your neck as he messily devours you.
He breaks the kiss with a pop, lips swelling a bit and stained with your strawberry lip gloss. “To the bedroom. Now.” Voice gruff, the tone was scary enough for you to scramble out of the car, rushing to get inside as quickly as possible.
You’re stripping in the hallway, a trail of items leading through the house to the bedroom. As giddy as you were that you fucking won, the idea of making him angrier sent a cold chill down your spine.
When you get to the bedroom, you’re dressed only in your bra and panties, falling to your knees on the hardwood floor. You’re facing the door, ready to wait for as long as you need to for him. Waiting for hours seemed very doable when waiting for your well deserved prize.
But, luckily for you, the drive (and your attitude) took all of Jisung’s patience. Less than forty-five seconds on your knees and the door busts open. His shirt was mostly unbuttoned now, belt wrapped around his balled fist.
Oh.
Making him angrier wasn’t even an option. He was past the point of return.
The hand that isn’t holding the belt quickly finds your hair, fisting it as he pulls you up. “Do you think you’re fucking funny? Messing with me like that in public? In front of my friends?” Jisung drags you a short distance to the bed, manhandling you until you’re lying flat on your stomach. You feel your legs shaking already — not from his words, not from the rough way he moved you around. But from the even tone of his voice, no louder than his speaking tone.
Jisung’s not yelling. Jisung seems very composed.
That’s terrifying in the best possible way.
“I asked you a question.” He growls, grabbing your wrist and bringing them behind your back. “Fucking answer me.”
“Yes.” You say, and the way your voice is already a bit shaky makes Jisung even more determined to break you. “Yes, I thought it was funny.”
He hums, and you feel the cool leather of his belt wrap around your wrist. Tugging tightly, he binds your hand with the belt. “Are you sorry?”
You know it’s a trick question, one set up for you to fail. Say yes, and he thinks you’re lying and punishes you. Say no, and he’ll punish you. It’s a lose/lose for you — no matter what is said, the end result is exactly the same.
Thinking it’ll lessen the punishment: “Yes. I’m so sorry, sir.”
As expected, Jisung chuckles, grabbing onto your bindings for support as he roughly slams a palm to your right ass cheek. “I don’t believe you.” Another slap, harder than the first. “You’ve been playing your stupid little game all day-“
“So were you!”
The third slap echos, sound bouncing around the bedroom. Already your skin is tingling. “The only thing I should hear are your begs for forgiveness. Otherwise, shut the fuck up.”
You really thought you didn’t want to piss him off more. That there was a line you didn’t want to cross with him today. But that went out the window fairly quickly. You stomp your foot defiantly, and when he looks up at your turned head, you stick your tongue out at him.
It was a mistake, but a great one.
He strikes down again. And again. And again, all on the same side until you’re squirming up the bed. Then he moves to the other, hits heavier than the ones before that. You tried to keep a tally of how many slaps to the ass you had taken, but you quickly lost it. He was speeding up, determined to make you feel his anger. You were doomed from the moment you decided to play today.
Jisung didn’t stop until your mouth was parted, jaw hanging and tears pricking your water line. His hand was vibrating, the strength he put behind the impact surprising even him.
“Are you sorry now?”
You nod your head quickly, lips trembling as the first tear fell from your eyes. “Yes. I’m so sorry, sir. I’m so fucking sorry-“
Fisting your hair yet again, he pulls your head up, a breathy moan leaving your lips. His face is close to yours, watching the steady stream of tears roll down your cheek. You feel small under his gaze, eyes shutting to try and hide from it.
Your face felt wet. And not from your tears.
Slowly, you open your eyes to find Jisung licking your tears away. His tongue followed the trail of tears, cleaning both sides of your face and catching the new ones that broke.
“Good.” He whispers before pressing a kiss to your flush cheeks, the leftover lipgloss sticking to your sweaty skin. “You should be.”
He drops your head, smiling at the way it bounced a little on the mattress. You can’t see what he’s doing, but can feel it in the way he rips your panties off, kicking your ankles to spread your legs. You feel it in the way the head of his cock runs through your folds, spreading your slick all over.
“This wet? From a few spanks?” He scoffs, the way you shrink in embarrassment only serving to make his cock throb. “That's pathetic.”
You want to snap back, to put up a fight, but every last instinct to argue leaves your body as Jisung forcefully thrusts inside you. He only goes about halfway before pulling back out, setting a shallow but rough pace right off the bat.
The slight stretch makes you hiss, but the way he glides so easily in and out of you feels absolutely incredible.
Incredible, but not nearly enough.
The need to be full of him takes over, making a new fight build up in your chest. Though your eyes are still watering, and you’re a little shaky, you muster the last bit of boldness you have to speak up.
“Is this really all you’ve got?” You huff out, trying to hide the unsteadiness in your voice. “That’s pathetic.”
Jisung stills, cock only a third of the way inside of you. For a brief moment, you worry that you’ve done too much. That you’ve pushed him too far.
Then he’s hauling you up, pressing your back against his chest with a hand closing around your throat. The swallow thrusts become deep, the rough pace becoming damn near animalistic. He’s deeper than you think he’s ever been, hitting parts of you that you didn’t think existed.
Pissing Jisung off was never a mistake when this was the outcome.
“I’ve fucking had it with you.” He hisses in your ear, words barely audible over the beautiful melody of your full moans and his skin hitting yours. “With you, and your bratty fucking attitude.”
The hand around your throat tightens, making your eyes flutter shut. Yellow stars bounce around, the fullness you feel is mouthwatering. You feel the drool roll off your lips, down your chin and pool on Jisung’s hand.
It’s everything. It’s the feeling of being filled to the birm, the constriction of his hand around your throat, the tip of his cock abusing your sweet spot. It’s Jisung. It’s all making you dumb, vocabulary leaving your head as the only thing you can do is pant and moan and cry out his name.
“J-Jisung.” You moan out, hands wrapping around the wrist that’s choking you. The feeling of your nails digging into his skin makes him hiss; lifting his knee up and resting it on the bed to pound into you even harder.
“Say it again.” If you weren’t near incoherent, you would hear how unstable his voice has gotten. Less commanding and more whiny, the tell-tale sign of an impending orgasm. “Tell me who you fucking belong to.”
“Jisung.”
“Who?” His voice is close to a yell, rivaling your moans in volume.
“Jisung! You, fuck-fucking you, Jisung!” You’re screaming, throat raw from how loud you’ve begun to shout his name.
Using the hand around your throat, he turns your head and kisses you. It’s nothing but tongue and teeth, a sloppy mess that rivals his thrusts. He feels your walls fluttering around him, but can’t slow down. Won’t slow down. Both of your highs as rapid as his pace.
What pushes Jisung over the edge is when his tongue moves across your bottom lip. He can taste your tears, your drool.
Your strawberry lip gloss.
With a deep moan of your name, Jisung cums first. It’s hard and plenty, the amount of warm cum spurting inside you so hard, almost making him lose balance. Your climax hits shortly after, just as much of a mess as his. The feeling of his release, mixed with yourself, is dizzying.
The hand on your throat moves to cup your cheek, pulling you in for a softer kiss as Jisung pulls out of you. Immediately, your legs start trembling, unable to hold yourself up without his assistance.
“I love you.” He whispers against your lips, affirming his statement with another soft kiss. “I love you so much, baby.”
You tiredly smile, letting Jisung pepper sweet kisses across your tear stained face. It’s incredible how quickly his persona changes — once the mean, hard dom, now the loving, gentle boy you fell in love with.
“I love you.” You mumble, relishing the way his lips feel on your face.
There were a multitude of reasons why Jisung loved you. Some were small, like the endearing way you leave your socks lying around the house. Some were big, like the way you squeeze his hand gently when he’s starting to get overwhelmed in public, a reminder that you’re always there for him. It was a never ending list, new things being tacked on as he falls deeper in love with you.
But Jisung really loves the way you challenge him, always ready to fight him for what you want. And today was the perfect example.

Tokyo Revengers Boys When You're Sick
Ft: Mikey, Draken, Takemitchy, Mitsuya, Baji, Hakkai, Chifuyu, Nahoya (Smiley), and Souya (Angry)
Tumblr media
Creators Note: These were inspired by the fact that I am very much ill rn, and decided to write about these guys to cheer myself up! Ik it's not the typical theme of my writing, but I hope you guys will enjoy them regardless!^^
Tagging: @duckymcdoorknob @ticklish-n-stuff @nataliewritez
Mikey:
Honestly? He's not exactly the best option, but he's not the worst either.
For the most part, he's pretty chill for a caretaker, so for things like minor colds and stuff, he's actually the preferred choice for most of the gang members.
He's the type to sit and watch TV with you while you recover, and gives you ice cream or popsicles to soothe your throat. He also takes full advantage of the opportunity to make a blanket fort. Says it's to cheer you up, which is partly true.... But he also just really loves blanket forts.
He'll try to bribe you into taking medicine, but won't force you too, since he's also hesitant with taking the nasty cough syrups and pills that make you drowsy, so if it's not too bad, he might consider letting you off the hook.
Also, sorry to disappoint, but he can't cook worth a flip, so all of the chicken soup you get is gonna be from a can and cooked in the microwave. Half the time it's not even warmed up enough, but he tries his best nonetheless, and he'll keep reheating it as many times as it takes to get you to eat something.
Absolutely believes gatorade is a cure all and makes you drink a ridiculous amount of it while you're recovering. He thinks the yellow kind is a sin though and if you ask for it, he'll look at you with so much disdain in that moment that you'll wonder if he's plotting to murder you.
Overall, a great option if you're only suffering from something minor, but if you're really, really sick? Best to call someone a little more strict to put you on the right track to recovery!
Draken:
100% the mother hen of the group. I'm taking no criticism on this.
He doesn't exactly hover, but he is the type to check in on you periodically, and weaseling your way out of bed is going to be near impossible without a good excuse.
He won't take any bullcrap about medicine either, so unlike Mikey, you're not going to get much leeway with him, no matter how insignificant the illness.
If you ask him nicely, he might allow you to watch TV for a while if you're not too ill, but it comes at the cost of having to take a proper nap later.
If you have a fever though? Sorry about your luck. He might give you a book to entertain yourself but you're not getting out of that bed until your temperature is back to normal.
His style of care usually results in a lot of boredom for his reluctant patients, but on the flip side, they always recover remarkably quickly, so no one can really complain.
Takemitchy:
Takemitchy is definitely the type of guy to rush straight over with multiple bags worth of pharmacy supplies the second he hears someone is ill.
He's a bit of a nervous wreck about it, but he's actually not half bad at taking care of people when they're sick.
I feel like his adult side tends to present itself a lot more during times like this, especially with those that are really sick. It kind of baffles people how mature he sounds at these times.
He'll speak soothingly to them as he presses a cool cloth to their head, and always handles any of the tedious work involved with a smile.
His main goal is to make his patients as comfortable as he can, but he can also be surprisingly insistent when it comes to medicine and keeping them hydrated. Not Draken levels of strict, but he's not like Mikey either. He usually ends up resorting to some form of bribery.
He's a pretty good person to rely on during times like this... Except for the fact that he almost always ends up catching it too not long after... Oops.^^`
Hakkai:
He's admittedly a bit of a nervous wreck, probably worst than Takemitchy to be honest.
Given the type of upbringing he had, he's not very experienced with things like this, but he'll do his best nonetheless.
He's the type to go to the pharmacy and get at least 3-5 different types of the same medicine just to be sure he gets something you can take. The poor pharmacy workers usually have to help him pick out what he actually needs so he doesn't try to buy half the store.
Constantly calls and texts Mitsuya the entire time for advice. Eventually to the point he just comes over himself to help after he gets the fourth call wondering if he should bring you to the hospital because you sneezed a little too hard.
Once he gets the hang of things, he'd probably be pretty okay at it, but he definitely needs some practice.
He's very gentle and only wants the best for the person he's caring for, so even if he doesn't quite know what he's doing, he'll put his best foot forward regardless.
Not the best option when it comes to overall experience, but if you give him a chance, he'll do his best to help you all he can until you're better.
Mitsuya:
Andddd, the second mother hen of Toman enters the chat.
Absolutely knows what he's doing the entire time, and is probably the most knowledgeable out of all the Toman guys when it comes to this kind of stuff.
He's taken care of both his little sisters for years, so he has plenty of practice with all kinds of random colds and stomach bugs.
Has a whole arsenal of different natural remedies that he's acquired over the years to help speed up recovery and relieve symptoms.
He's pretty similar to Draken in a lot of ways when it comes to care, but he's also a little softer about it if that makes sense?
Has a bad habit of shifting into older brother mode with his patients, and will often slip up by saying his sisters' names when he's preoccupied and talking to them, running his fingers through their hair, putting on cartoons, tucking them in, humming, etc.
He often gets teased about this, but he doesn't really take it to heart and usually just laughs it off. No one really minds it anyway, and most see it as just one of his more endearing traits. Some even find it comforting, though they won't admit it.
He also doesn't get sick very easily, and rarely ends up catching anything himself, so telling him to stay away for fear of spreading it to him won't deter him much.
Maybe I'm being biased just a little, but he'd absolutely be my first choice. Mitsuya knows his stuff.
Chifuyu:
Has absolutely no idea what the heck he's doing.
He'll show up to your house with a ton of random supplies, though half of them don't even make any sense. Amongst all the saltines, soup cans, and cough syrup, there are a bunch of things that even he doesn't know why he brought them. He just packed/bought them out of panic and impulse.
"Chifuyu.... Why is there a 5lb bag of gummy bears in here?" "...You don't like gummy bears? 🥺"
That sort of thing.
Once he gets the hang of it, he's not that bad at it, but he's definitely very awkward and nervous about it.
He's somewhat hovery, but more in a distant sort of way, since he's afraid to make you feel worse. He'll kinda just watch you from the kitchen while you sleep on the couch, or he'll pop his head in your door 40 times per hour if you're in your room.
He reads the back of the medicine bottle at least seven times for fear of overdosing you.
Totally forgets to look at the front label because of it, and unintentionally knocks you out cold for seven hours with NyQuil.
He still hasn't stopped apologizing for that yet.
Baji:
Baji is.... Admittedly not the best person to call for this sort of thing.
Depending on who you are, he might even hang up when you call complaining about your cold, telling you to 'keep your germs to yourself' and to 'man up' lol.
On the off chance that he does decide to come help you out though, he'll do his best, but much like Chifuyu, he's very inexperienced at this kind of stuff
Baji is the type to ride out his illnesses the hard way, and he treats his patients no differently.
Soup? That's for wimps. Just eat a peanut butter sandwich or something.
Medicine? That's not how you build an immune system. You stomp that illness into the ground with nothing but blood, sweat, and tears.
In most cases, he'll end up having to call Draken to come bail him out cause he made the person he's taking care of cry.
His only good trait is that he's basically a walking space heater, so if you can trick or bribe him into sitting next to you, you get a heating pad that doesn't need any electricity or to be reheated.
Makes up for everything else tbh.
Souya and Nahoya:
Ultimate good cop, bad cop duo. Angry being the good cop in this situation, while Smiley is the bad cop. Ironic right?
Smiley is more the tough love type who makes you take your medicine, eat, stay hydrated, etc.
He won't admit it, but he honestly gets a bit of a kick out of watching their grossed out faces after taking medicine. It's half the reason he even agreed to this in the first place.
Angry, on the other hand, is the type that gets super empathetic about it. Super cuddly and sweet, and he's eager to do whatever it takes to help you get back on your feet.
His one problem is that he tends to get sick a lot easier than Smiley, so it usually ends with both of you being sick and being taken care of by the older twin for the last half.
Yeah. Mr. "Murder! Yay!" Is going to be you guys' nurse for the duration of your sickness. Good luck...
But at least you have someone to suffer and watch stupid shows with?...

Dadphiles!Shadow Sheet
Took me a while to post this here. Oops.
Ref is a bit misleading by the way. Shadow’s design is post-06, his locket is pre-Heroes. ;)
This post will be updated as time goes on. New additions will be marked as (✨New!✨). Last update: (Mar 6, 2024)
-> Dadphiles AU Masterpost
-/-/-/-/-
🔹Shadow is technically only about 5-years-old, having been grown in a tube for four of those years. It was only due to close calls—promptly followed by Shadow vanishing into a plume of smoke—that it was delayed for so long. Gerald and the other scientists were left confused and never found an answer to the strange events.
🔹Shadow has enhanced sight, mainly being able to see better at night than a normal hedgehog. His eyes are highly reflective because of this.
🔹Due to Shadow having been "raised" by his father and brothers, he's less angry and brooding all the time. More quiet and anxious in the beginning, only growing in confidence through Maria. Confident enough to one day strike up a conversation with another boy on the Ark. Wonder what happened to him...?
🔹When Shadow was first separated from his brothers, he fell into a depression of sorts. Maria comforted him and he eventually told her all about his family in the shadows. She surprised him a week later, gifting him a wrist locket, one big enough to conceal his crystal. Can’t let the scientists find it, after all.
🔹Shadow’s locket has a lavender engraved in it.
🔹 The locket actually was a gift from Maria’s grandmother to her, but it was broken. She asked her grandfather if it could be repaired just for Shadow.
🔹Following the reveal of Gerald’s revenge plan, Shadow has conflicted feelings on the man. Yet his locket is the only photo he has of Maria, and so he doesn’t dare alter it.
🔹 Like his brothers, Shadow does not remember what his dad looks like or even his name, beyond his eyes and voice. Shadow was never bothered by this fact when he was younger, but following the events of SA2, he wonders if Gerald found and messed with those memories as well.
🔹(✨New!✨) Shadow does not believe Black Doom at first, stating that he knows who his father is. Even after learning the truth, Shadow refuses to listen to Doom and instead sticks with the family he chose.
🔹(✨New!✨) Following Shadow 05, Shadow legally goes by Shadow Prower, like his brothers.
🔹(✨New!✨) Following Shadow 05, the Prower family gets a bigger house using both the funds Sonic and Tails have amassed over the years as well as some help from the G.U.N. commander. They intentionally get one with more bedrooms, hoping to one day share it with the rest of Sonic and Shadow's family.
🔹(✨New!✨) Shadow does not join G.U.N., now confident in the relationship he has with his brothers. Instead, he focuses on adapting to modern times. However, he does help Rouge from time to time, sometimes by the Commander's unofficial request.
Post-06 Facts:
🔹Shadow never really saw a need to change his gear from those given to him on the Ark. However, following the reunion with Silver, Amy tries to cheer the brothers up with a shopping trip! …Some mistakes were made and Tails offered to just make the gear in the end.
🔹Shadow’s shoes have retractable jets, making it easier to walk in. They are also reinforced on the top (stronger roundhouse kicking :D).
🔹Knuckle-guards and plating on his hands + arm guards along his ulna.
🔹Shadow was a bit enamored when Sonic explained what parkour gloves were. Shadow is frequently impressed with inane and random modern inventions, a sentiment Silver often shares.
🔹Shadow puts a photo of his new family opposite his late-family in the locket.

Honeymoon Knight / Chapter 14 - Contest Winners
Prev | All | Next
~ Later ~
After leaving Maroota... We arrived in the city of Tisailles. The streets adorned with ribbons and frills were illuminated by the early summer light, enhancing their vividness.
Tumblr media
Flure: "Fufu… It's been a while since we've been to Tisailles, my lord."
> "Since the contest, right?"
Muu: "Mr. Flure, you were amazing in the contest! You looked so cool!"
Flure: "Come on, Muu, stop it."
Lato: "Kufufu... I've heard about Flure's triumph from the other butlers. He excelled as both a designer and a model, receiving great acclaim from the audience."
Miyaji: "Not aiming to win the contest… but crafting a performance that brings joy to the audience, all while enjoying it yourselves.  I found it truly wonderful. If only… I could have witnessed it firsthand."
Flure: "Thank you, Prof. Miyaji..."
Miyaji: "Oops, we've already talked about this many times in the mansion..."
Flure: "Y-yes, that's true."
Lato: "It's a shame we couldn't go together. I really wished to see Flure dance freely on the runway."
Muu: “It was really fantastic, right? My lord!"
> "It was incredibly cool"
Flure: "A-alright, that's enough. Let's put an end to this conversation about me."
Lato: "Flure is quite shy, isn't he?"
Flure: "You're being noisy, Lato."
Miyaji: "By the way... Although the result was a close runner-up… you received a prize from the winning team, didn't you?"
Flure: "Yes. The winning team's ‘Monsieur Chatnoir’ said, 'It's our loss,' and gave it to us."
Lato: "Chatnoir...? Hmm…… The name sounds familiar. Have I met this person somewhere?"
Miyaji: "It was the team that was the runner-up in the fashion contest four years ago. You participated in the previous contest, right, Lato?"
Lato: "Ah, yes. I remember now. Kufufu. That's when I participated with Mr. Zepal, Mr. Berrien, and Prof. Miyaji. How nostalgic."
Miyaji: “Yeah. But... I haven't told you about this yet, Flure, when I heard that you 'didn't aim to win’... I was honestly surprised. Zepal said the same thing back then."
Flure: "Huh? R-really? This is the first time I'm hearing this. I heard a lot about the contest from Mr. Zepal, but... he never mentioned that. Instead, it was more like he was aiming to win together."
Miyaji: "Well, Zepal probably said something like that."
Lato: “Yes, that's just like him.”
Flure: "So... Mr. Zepal intentionally lied to me?"
Miyaji: "Well, you know... He's very sociable... And a kind man who thinks about others' feelings.  He thought saying things like 'I didn't plan to win, but I ended up winning' would make others feel uncomfortable... so that's probably why he lied to you."
Flure: "I see."
> "It was a white lie"
Muu: "Even just from this talk, Mr. Zepal seems like a wonderful person! I wanted to actually talk to him."
> “Indeed” > "Me too..."
Flure: "Mr. Zepal… Like me... Fufu. So that's what happened.  Yeah... I think it was cool how he said, 'I went there to win,' but...  Mr. Zepal, who enjoyed fashion to the fullest... That's really him being himself.  Mr  Zepal is cool, after all... I wanted to be like Mr. Zepal, but... the result was runner-up and a special prize... I'm still no match for Mr. Zepal."
> "Flure..."
Miyaji: "Raise your head, Flure. There's no need to be so down. From my perspective, who spent a long time with Zepal... I don't see a clear difference between you and Zepal. Both of you love fashion... Enjoy it to the fullest... And you've polished your skills. This outfit is also very beautiful. Zepal would surely say the same."
Flure: "Prof. Miyaji... Thank you."
Lato: "Flure is an excellent outfit designer. To be honest... I prefer Flure's outfits over Zepal's."
Flure: "Fufu... You're exaggerating a bit, Lato."
Lato: "Oh? I don't think I'm exaggerating. Outfits made by Flure are particularly comfortable to wear."
Flure: "Geez... If you say more than that, Mr. Zepal might get angry, you know? But, thanks. I feel a little better now."
Lato: "That's good."
Muu: "By the way... Listening to everyone... Now I wanted to see the contest four years ago…!"
> "What kind of contest was it?"
Miyaji: "The theme was 'All Black.'"
> “All Black…” > "Sounds like a cool theme"
Miyaji: "At that time, elegant attire was the trend. Designs that emphasized elegance and luxury... were sought after, all unified in black."
Lato: "Hmm... It's starting to come back to me... That's right... At that time, exposing too much skin wasn't favored in the trends, right?"
> "So that's how it was"
Muu: "I don't know anything about outfits, but... it seems difficult to be unique that way."
> “I agree” > "Indeed... Barely any freedom of expression there"
Miyaji: "That's where Zepal... deliberately included designs that exposed the skin. Of course, while valuing elegant elements. I remember there was the use of translucent materials."
Muu: "I see...! He dared to enter the contest… by incorporating the parts that were limiting enjoyment of fashion! Truly, it's the same as Flure!"
Flure: "I also wanted to see Mr. Zepal and everyone's contest in person... It must have been incredibly cool."
Miyaji: "Just like how I wanted to see your contest in person. We think alike, Flure."
Flure: "That's true."
Muu: "Fufufu. It feels like we've learned a lot from this conversation! My lord!"
> “Yes” > "I'm glad we could learn from it"

Ranking the HOTD episodes by how gay they are
10. Episode 3. really very little happened except Rhaenrya and Alicent having their gay little fight in the godswood 5/10
9. Episode 5 this episode isn’t super heavy on Alicent/Rhaenrya other than Alicent having her big green dress moment and angrily calling Rhaenrya “stepdaughter”. But it DOES introduce a very important gay couple: Laenor and Joffrey. If this episode hadn’t violently murdered joffrey in a way that diverged from F&B and made it MORE traumatic for Laenor, making him get married in the same building his love was murdered in, hours afterwards, I would give it more points for having a canon gay couple. I’m not over the change however. I still don’t understand how Criston got away with that .10/10 for joffrey and Laenor before the end of the episode -10/10 after the ending
8. Episode 2. This episode was also homophobic bc Alicent got engaged to Viserys. But it did have a scene of Alicent comforting Rhaenrya in the crypt, which 1) shows Alicent is religious 2) is the beginning of the holding hands motif 3) was sweet 4) also a parallel to them sitting at the table in episode 8 with the candles 5) highlights how they are both two young women who have lost their mothers and neither of them should be anywhere near a certain two targaryen brothers😔 6/10
7. Episode 6. This episode was important because it introduced Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke. And the question on everyone’s (my) mind was: now that the younger actors are being replaced, will the homoerotic subtext remain? And the answer is a resounding yes. Episode 6 was an experiment to see how much gay tension you could fit in one small council scene. Alicent was really mean to Rhaenrya in this episode and also accidentally asked for the murder of her baby daddy but I still call it a win 8/10
6. Episode 1. I rememeber having extremely low expectations for HOTD due to GOT disappointment but after watching the first episode there was only one question on my mind: did they add lesbians to game of thrones? Even my extremely straight friend texted me to ask if I thought Alicent and Rhaenrya seemed a little bit in love. 10/10
5. Episode 7. The entire knife scene is one of the best on the show. And really showcased a breaking point in Rhaenrya and Alicent’s relationship. The rituals were intricate I fear. Also Alicent called Rhaenrya’s feet pretty. oops. This is also the episode that Laenor and Quarl avoid death and HBO avoids the #buryyourgays accusation so I’m happy for them 9/10
4. Episode 9. In this episode Otto calls Alicent gay to her face, and Alicent loses her shit at the mention of murdering Rhaenrya. It lays it out for us that Alicent cares a lot about Rhaenrya and it’s messing with Otto’s plans. But also Alicent crowning Aegon is not gonna help her pull Rhaenrya. 9/10
3. Episode 10. In this episode Otto recovers and finds a way to use his daughter’s inconvenient lesbianism to his advantage. Is it gay to keep a ripped out piece of paper your ex-homoerotic bestie-now-enemy gave you decades ago? Is it gay to receive this piece of paper and shed a singular angry tear? The way that Rhaenrya says “Alicent…. asked …..you to …declare ….for Aegon” is the second most heartbreaking line delivery on the show, right after “he is your son, Viserys”. Clearly Rhaenyra cared about Alicent. 10/10
2. Episode 4. First of all this episode contains possibly the gayest scenes in the whole show, when Alicent and Rhaenrya are sitting on the bench. Rhaenyra apologizes to Alicent and says she missed her too and grabs her hand. In interviews, Milly Alcock and Emily Carey said they thought they were gonna kiss and reader, I did too. This scene of almost reconnection is so tender and heartbreaking and it adds to the hand motif these girls got going. But second of all, the way that Alicent reacts to rumors of Rhaenrya fucking daemon. I’m sorry there is no heterosexual explanation for HOW upset she is. None at all. 11/10
1. Episode 8. Rhaenyra and Alicent giving forgiveness toasts. Rhaenrya and Alicent staring at each other while pretending to stare at Viserys. But most of all, Alicent begging Rhaenrya to stay and giving her a death grip and Rhaenrya gently reciprocating as she promises to return, even though I think in some way they both know that if she leaves their tenuous reconciliation will not last. Every time I see a gif of that grip I go feral. All of the shots of their hands touching in episode 1,2,4,7 for it to culminate in this shot of them desperate to find each other again. 100/10
