Turtle Takedown Teamwork.
[First] Prev <–-> Next
#poorly drawn mdzs#mdzs#wei wuxian#lan wangji#tulu xuanwu#Something about changing the action sequence to something gentle is hilarious to me.#The lesson here is “Be nice to turtles. They are gentle creatures. And many are very endangered.”#don't get me wrong here; I love this scene a lot. LWJ's string technique is one of my favoyrite things.#We do get a fair amount of LWJ fighting but I always loved how the theme of strings comes into play.#There is actually a lot to unpack with LWJ being associate with 'strings'.#The musicianship: Of dedication and rigor in one's practice.#The tension between following along a path or composing your own way forwards (playing what has been written vs composing)#A string is a tightly coiled/taunt entity; The same tension that makes it sing so beautifully can be it's downfall if pushed too hard.#And as a non-musical string - something that binds. Be it to his sect and family or how he binds his fate to WWX -#LWJ cannot exist without his binds. It is not something which ties him down though. It keeps him together.#And he himself *is* a bind. He 'ties wwx down' in ways that are initially negatively viewed ('come to gusu' - feels like: come be trapped)#But later it is shown how (despite being introduced as a free spirit) WWX truly wants to be bound to something and someone.#Marriage is a bind he wants. He wants to be tied and grounded by LWJ.#It's starting to sound like innuendo. Let's call his fondness for being literally tied up smart thematic writing.#Finally. Sex scenes that are important to the plot and characters

Do u have 90s Anime OVA reccomendations?
The Little Witch Academia OVA is my favorite thing to come out of Trigger. FLCL, obviously. I liked Gunsmith Cats a lot. Birdy the Mighty has stellar character animation and a fun body-swapping premise that avoids being creepy. If you like stories that take place in the Pacific Islands, I'd recommend this really obscure OVA, From a Distant Ocean Came Coo, about a young boy finding a baby plesiosaur. Sonic the Hedgehog OVA is a classic. I need to watch the Patlabor films. While technically not an OVA, the anthology film project Memories is absolutely stellar; Magnetic Rose is one of the best sci-fi horror flicks out there.

think its interesting how milsiril quit the canaries out of disgust, shuros mom seemed to become a recluse (conjecture) bc of her moral character leading to her inability to stomach the going ons of the household, shuro reacting to all this by trying to interact w his retainers as little as possible and like the system keeps running without them like a meatgrinder. Like the only ppl who benefit from their choice to not participate in these systems is themselves, their own comfort, rather than their objections leading to any meaningful change for the ppl most harmed by these systems. Also interesting that these three are also high high up on the hierarchy. I think it relates to how laios left home early out of disgust on how ppl treated falin-this action did not actually seem to help her situation much and just left her alone to deal w the ostracization. And it's not until the end Laios aknowledges that falin's not the only person who gets targeted bc of her magic and resolves to become a leader to create a world where ppl like her can live safely. The systems these characters live in are unpalatable, but to not engage in it at all is irresponsible, bc they are characters born into power. It's going to be ugly, difficult work, but that is what it means to be in the cycle of life. Also ties into marcille wanting to create a safe dungeon when it is impossible . And ties into arbitrariness of when disgust is triggered and how it leads to ppl not engaging in the very important parts of life whether it is w eating, shitting, or the bad parts of society.

it is kinda funny to me when ppl say things in the vein of “jazz is perfect to represent rouge because of it’s chaotic nature”, cause like sure, okay, i can understand why you’d say that, but that’s the kinda thing you say when you have not listened to any jazz at all.
jazz can seem chaotic, sure, but it seems odd to me to define the whole umbrella of jazz as chaotic when you absolutely have not listened to actually chaotic sounding jazz subgenres like bebop. i just generally extremely dislike the descriptor of “chaotic” for jazz because i think it’s fundamentally untrue, there is absolutely logic and order in jazz, it’s built upon a rich tradition. jazz can be complex, frantic, energetic, and is often improvisational, but i don’t think it’s chaotic.
also i think that suits rouge far better than actual chaos, cause rouge is absolutely a complex and logical person, she just acts first and foremost on her desires

Best part of this scene hands down was Max like, "We live in the most densely populated city in Thailand it is very possible someone else got him sick, Pisaeng," and Pisaeng staring him dead in the face like, "rewatch the montage jackass we have three friends and we only invite y'all over once a year so yes, it was me"

the nancy boy thing is just so fucking insane because like. they broke from the spelling of this name to do it but also incorporated it into the spelling of his name with n for nancy (possibly showing how he associates it with himself). but the license plate could have been any letter and that letter could have been any word and they chose b for boy. they could have cut to the license plate from any letter in dennis and they chose n for nancy. and we already know the way dennis spells out his name/words in this scene is very important metaphorically they showed us with that alternate D.E.N.N.I.S. system he gives us so.....they did that on purpose and drew attention to it

Another Death Note book, another Tumblr post of overanalyzing details within it
This is a literal reformatted Twitter thread that was collected as the book was read, so, in theory, one could just flip through the book & find the things addressed all in order. Enjoy my needlessly high IQ going to town on this damn legendary expansion pack AU spin-off novel...
This obviously contains spoilers to L Change The World
.
"I'm no good with girls" - L Lawliet, like 2004? (He probably had a real good time having Misa around)
L calls the kids of Wammy's House "letters" (*tries not to explode*)
It's verified that the orphans are entrusted with solving cases as grave as murders to prove & train themselves
Beyond Birthday is mentioned to crack his neck in LABB, which is oddly enough also a habit of Ryuk's. Shinigami urges, especially those of the rather unhinged kind
Suruga heard that L never even showed his face to Misora, meaning she kept quiet about their encounter to everyone until her very death. Which is pretty nice.
Tbh Beyond wasn't too far off about mocking L's behavior. He does tend to crawl when he's being frantic & is also a messy eater (from getting food on himself when not provided with utensils (even when he is...), to consuming excessive amounts of sweet toppings)
There's too many "god"s in DN names... ('Kagami' can be translated to 'nurse god' which is so stupid & uncreative /affectionately)
"L's back grew rounder as he sat on the sofa with his knees tucked tightly against his chest. [...] He seemed to be burdened by the weight of something very heavy that she could not see". L's slouch gets lower after Watari dies under his surveillance. Nothing new, just fantastic symbolism that I love about him.
Also how actually well L suppresses his emotions while working on cases is really outlined in this book. It gets to a point where he seems apathetic, as people who've seemingly gone through trauma reunite over tears in front of him, while minutes beforehand, he's exuded real sadness over Watari's passing. (this is not inherently negative or positive)
His reputation with the FBI really sticks to him like a tick, yet it's suppressing his humanity that gets L to do what's needed & initiate measures necessary (which earned him the ill-willed reputation of kinky bizarre murder-loving detective. Whereby I still can't quite locate the origin of the "murder-loving" part..)
"Nobody would think anything important to be in a bag of potato chips, don't you think?" Honey, first of all, how did you fit an entire notebook into a bag of potato chips without it looking like it's your 1 pound hershey's chocolate stash... Oh, and L has a pattern of emulating tricks that people have used to try and fool him
It seems that L wasn't lying when he said that he's a fan of Misa's work, though idrk what to make of that... Not everything in the half-canon is canon, kids. M went a bit too hard on that 'L is weird & creepy' at times. Until it's not even goofy and ridiculous anymore, I'm just.. concerned?
L seems fulfilled and glad when he's stressed about saving the world. Nothing like a superiority complex, just very INTJ.
L will know to evaluate people so much as to accept food from the ones trying to deceive him, if he knows they're pacifists. Having them vacuum his room & stuff, letting them think they're earning his trust. A side of him we haven't seen thus far, just thought it to be important to share.
Watari, now officially L's mentor and father figure (we knew this but i love it)
The fact that L prones to share sweets with anyone compatible to himself or whoever he wants to tempt is not just a quirky gesture of respect, but actually seems to write out, more than anything, 'let's put us on the same level here. Have this thing that indicates gross luxury within societal hierarchy while also being the thing that keeps me going on an everyday-basis'
Fem-disguise flirty L. He's enjoying the vibe & living vicariously. That's it that's the jot
And then there's page 151. And i wonder, am I needed here at all?
Tumblr media
The "L-organization" Blue Ship made up is comically the truest hypothesis that has existed as a theory about L. After all, Wammy's House is the founding ground of 26 Ls each generation to come
Watari seems to be involved with the Wammy's kids more than initially thought. But this could also be Kujo's illusion, as having any contact with the one closest to L at all would be a big deal and in her mind more prominently
And finally, the relationship that was created between L & Light is closer to love and worship than friendship. Even best friends. L's reliance on the thought of Light even exists as comfort in heavily emotionally distressing situations. Your definitely romantically touched soulmate-other-half-comfort-human can be your best friend too is what I'm trying to say. Like, you don't have to choose. Just add it to the list.
Verdict: I assume the main point of the book is literally to clear up misunderstandings about L, hence information about him is being blatantly pointed out and aggressively reinforced around every corner. But I'm here anyways because page 151 exists for me and me only (and everybody else who's done their thing correctly before having read this thing) as a pat on the back and a hearty 'good job'. It was fun to have found a couple more hidden details along the way too though. L called Light his 'best friend' like he called Misora 'some guy in the US who told me about capoeira'

WHY YELLOW?
I had ready a big post with all the screenshots of lyrics and stuff, but I guess I don't need to convince anyone anymore... bc it's true dndjdn
Tumblr media
But truly!! Go back and read the lyrics again, one by one, just like the team for the concept art did. What did you notice?
>>>> how many times the word 'light' comes up? Or something that it's related to light, like the sun or lightning? (and i mean 'lux' is light in latin, two songs in one album with the word light in the title)
And it's a different light from previous albums, it's not the light from a halo who is on fire. Well, maybe it would be more accurate to say that it's the same light as before but... In a different phase.
Maybe you can still fear the light, it still feels dangerous, BUT in the end... You turn it on. And if there is still darkness, even with the light on... Then it's okay, accept me, lean on me! (did you see what I did there?)
As you can see, the black is still very well there, there is no mention of light in 72s (the song) if not for black light, it's midnight. This is the inciting incident, the cradle, the explosion that charred the object around us. And the object and the cradle itself... cast shadows. But the light is surrounding everything, right in the center, AND IT'S WARM, not white but yellow.
