Listen, last year I did two hours and twenty-eight minutes and when I hit two hours and fourteen minutes this year I was like "whatever, print it." Also I liked how they hung together and some life stuff kind of meant that what I needed was a very loopable couple hours, not a curated several hours. I think every time I hear a Donavan song I go "this is my favourite" but it's more like "this is my favourite right now." More love and relationship type songs because you can't get away from that in music tbh, but also it's a fun thing to theme around.

"Oh Snap" has some muddy origins, like any phrase. Wild in this article to see that as of this 2009 article it had worn its ironic welcome.

'Heartbeat' by Riggs is from Heavy Metal (1981), well not *from* the movie, but was in the movie, which is so specifically of its genre and era and also so specifically for me, who ended up with a sizable Loc-Nar tattoo. I think you can gauge pretty quick if a deeply '80s metal animated movie is for you and it conveniently is available on Archive.

It was a wet month here, hence all the rain songs, I hate linking to Insta, but latimes.404 had a nice little rundown of stats. The 1933 record mentioned is why we have such monster flood abatement where we live. I can’t remember which Raymond Chandler story it is but one scene takes place in a house that had been swept down a hill by a community ruining flood and THATS the record mentioned in the video. That’s why every four way stop is crossed with gutters that bottom out your car.

Bump of Chicken! 'Sleep Walking Orchestra' slaps. I am a Delicious In Dungeon/Dungeon Meshi fan (vol 13 and 14 on preorder, bb!), it's as specific as Heavy Metal, so I guess decide if you want a cooking manga/anime that is also very intense, and monster-nerdy. (and also kind of horny). Anyway, the official video is a more all-ages delight.

1. What motivates you to write?

I’m plagued by visions that won’t leave me alone until I get them out somehow 😣

I don’t think I have a favorite line in particular, but I have always liked how I wrote Katya’s recruitment into the BATs scene:

Katya blinked at the group in front of her, trying to process what she had just heard. “You guys want me to join your gang?” she asked incredulously.

“It's not a gang!” Amber scoffed.

“It's a revolution,” Derwin explained.

“We're here to help people,” Raine added.

Katya still stared at the trio. The idea of helping others for the sake of helping was foreign to her. Her whole life she'd never known anyone to help a stranger while expecting nothing in return—well, that was until she met the human. Her question to her echoed in her head.

Why are you helping us?

Because us weirdos have to stick together!

She thought over what they had said to her. Katya sincerely loved bard magic, but she'd be lying if she said she never missed practicing other types of magic as she had done as a child. She still remembered how she'd nearly cried the first time she tried to magically grow a vegetable garden before realizing she couldn't. She also thought about the two times she'd been arrested, and about her neighboring cell mates.

Us weirdos have to stick together! And NOBODY should be punished for who they are!

Eyeballs Georg wasn't hurting anybody by eating his own eyeballs, and even though Tiny Nose’s theories were strange, she wasn't harming anyone either. Why should the Emperor, let alone the Titan, care about a couple of obscure demons? Why should the Titan care if she practiced the ancient art of fan fiction!? Why should anyone care!? The BATs were right, the system was unfair.

3. Which OC makes you smile when you think/talk about them and what are they like?

I don’t really make OCs unless I absolutely have to, not really my thing 😅

4. 4. Which process of writing do you enjoy the most?

I enjoy planning + writing the dialogue the most

5. Which part of writing do you think you're best at? (Stroke your own ego, it's okay)

I just said I enjoyed dialogue lol but I do think I’m pretty good at it! Sometimes I’m funny :P

6. What is something in the writeblr community that is most enjoyable?

Like Charlotte I’m also just treating writeblr as my mutuals but I would say when hype one another up on our writing 💪

7. A writing tool/device that helps you with writing (i.e. text-to-speech, a program, etc...)

I always make outlines. Always.

8. A piece of world-building that you like in your own story (it could be the magic system, a particular place, a law, etc...)

A fun snack/street food I came up with for the Boiling Isles, furnasi horn, which are cooked in the boiling sea (inspired by a real life place that uses hot springs to cook certain foods!)

9. What piece of advice would you give to encourage others to write if they are having a rough patch?

If we’re talking short term issues like you aren’t sure how to make this plot point work, I say take a break. Go outside, take a walk, have a snack, etc. Coming back to it if with fresh eyes usually helps.

Today’s weeded book was a doozy. The title — intriguing. Very gothic romance and the art style screams Italy countryside. Maybe France.

It was first published in 1978 with this one a reprint in 1992. Could be interesting, right?

Back cover:

‘Where do you live?’ asked Paul.

‘In the big White House on the hill,’ said Maria. ‘Where do you live?’

‘In the little brown house near the market,’ said Paul.

They laughed. But Paul was sad. The house in the hill was big and important.

Maria was rich and he was poor. And Paul was in love.

Riveting. Also fun facts, there’s an audio cassette available for this book.

Please note, I am not making fun of this book for being a beginning level reader. I think these readers are important because they offer content to adults learning to read or learning a different language that is something other than children’s books

I am, however, totally making fun of the content.

This book was absolute trash. Unbelievable trash. With a cool ass name like that I hoped it’d be some kind of gothic, intense storyline.

Instead there’s this dude named Paul.

Paul is a writing apparently. He needs his coffee cup to say “Coffee” on it. He writes by hand. It’s the late 70s after all. Paul loves Maria. Maria looks different in every picture of her.

Maria the changeling is a rich girl that Paul love. No. If she was a changeling, she would be way cooler. Her main trait is that she's rich. That half-chopped woman in the second last image is her rich mother. Her mother's main trait is that she's snobby.

Paul recites poetry to Maria. This is a Paul poem:

I met her in the evening By the riverside Her dress was creamy white And her hair with ribbon tied. She turned and smiled at me, And I asked her for her name. Though I am young and poor, My love will stay the same.

So Paul's main trait is he's poor. He's added one more trait to Maria. She wears ribbons. These two have a riveting romance. Paul likes that Maria wears beautiful clothes. She's lovely. That's about it. They hang out at the river's edge. Maria tells Paul she loves him.

This is enough for Paul to propose to her. But alas! Maria can't marry Paul and she flees.

Paul's mother, who looks like an Edwardian cook in like Downton Abbey or something is all, "Oh shit Paul. She doesn't love you."

Cue angry rich woman that's Maria's mama. She sends her driver in a Rolls Royce down to Paul's place, picks him up, and brings him to the House on the Hill, pretty much just to shit on him. She's all, "You're so poor you stupid stupid boy. My daughter is rich. I've married her off to a rich. Go away poor." She leaves the room and sucks out all the rich with her with ... Except Maria's all, "Well Paul. Mama's right. You're poor. I might love you, but you can't buy me fancy things in the late 70s like a disco ball or a rattan settee." Paul flails down the hill, tears in his eyes, and he's crying, "Maaaaarrrriiiiaaaaa! Why don't you love me? Oh because I'm POOR!"

Paul's mom is all, "Paul. Those people are dicks."

Paul ignores her.

Now this is the section that's like Twilight Part Deux where Paul sits in a room alone, not eating, not sleeping, and then he goes to the river but he doesn't recite poetry because he's not going to cause that cruelty to the world again.

Inexplicably, the local newspaper "THE CLARION" has RICH MAN'S BEAUTIFUL BRIDE as the byline of the main page of the paper. It's a shit byline. Of course that's Maria and her new rich husband. The husband has the traits of rich, old, and fat (of course in this book that seems to be a focus that makes him a monster).

Luckily Paul sees an ad for a Story Competition. Here is the ad:

Somehow Paul thinks, "Yeah if I win this by writing a self-insert fan fic about Maria and me getting together she'll be all over me and super pissed she married the old guy."

There's no preamble. He wins the stupid competition.

Somehow that leads to him being a reporter. I love how he didn't have to go to University or anything for that. Because the newspaper manager (with the story competition?) is all, "Wow you're such a good writer I want to hire you as a reporter!" I guess since they have a shitty byline writer they need someone?

This is Paul, our new reporter. This is Paul's reporting style:

Hot is just a fun, sassy and epic song really to play or hum or dance along to (would not recommend while cooking though xD because reasons lolol) but they are a senior group so it isn't much of a surprise to see them have it be shorter as well? (Granted sometimes in general for other groups its shorter very early in the pandemic but it now it depends I notice on which group?) Still a fun era and now suddenly we are thrown with a repackage!?!? Boys calm down i am still feeling the effects of buying tickets for the concert xD tbh I do know some fans theorized we would get one but I was one who thought it would be too quick to have one but looks like it's happening!! I really am curious to see how this era will be, I saw some asks talking about alienteen(?) XD can't wait to see them recreat the movie alien but add sparkles and disco balls to make it extra funky (oh and have svt shake that peach like in the cheers mv for some extra fun)

Huh interesting! I'll be honest I have faint memory of this but then again I was a baby carat and I wasn't that in deep with seventeen until 2019ish I want to say with the fandom and for the most part I was just in my bubble so some stuff I don't really remember and others I sadly do (we do not talk about some of the dark fandom jokes at the time fjsjdjsj)

yeah senior and more popular groups definitely tend to promote for shorter periods bc they can afford to. even if they don't promote as long ppl will still hear about and listen to their song, where as new/not as well known groups have to put in a lot more effort to get their song out there

i'm answering this ask late and can confirm _world was not alienteen, but it was a fun theory when it lasted 🤣 but we still got the funk and the sparkles lol!

yeah some of that stuff definitely depended on what parts of the fandom you interacted with. i feel like it's also one of those things where you might not recognize it for what it was if you weren't as familiar with the fandom in the past if that makes sense. but yeah i'm glad a lot of those older fandom jokes have died off for the most part

Hello there! Congrats on 600 followers~

I was wondering if I can ger a romantic male Haikyuu match up? Any team would be fine.

I'm a straight female, 5ft and 110lbs. I have short black hair and dark brown eyes. I'm slight on the chubby side as well. I'm in between pale and light brown skinned. I'm a pure Filipino and I have prescription glasses. I've often been called a "soft girl" but I really don't have a certain styles. My clothes are often t-shirts, off-shoulders, (of multiple color and style) and any type jeans. Hoodies and jackets are a must in winter season.

I'm often described as a chaotic motherly type of person. I love to tease others but it's not often. I can be loud and obnoxious at times but I prefer to stay quiet. I can also be such a flirt if I wanted too but I only reserve those skills when needed. My patience is very long and I don't get annoyed easily. Affection and words are my love language. I tend to get just a tad bit grumpy when I don't get affection. I'm a really observant person, so I'm able to pick up emotional cues, habits, and body language. I use that to check on people I care about. I try to act tough and strong so I would be a role model, since I'm the oldest child. I also tend to suppress my emotions and even fake them just so no one would be burden of me. I do share them if I trust you enough. I can also be really insecure about my abilities and looks.

I can be really insecure and really clingy. My insecurities tend to refer to my looks but most of the time it's on maybe people find me annoying. Not only that, I can also be moody, especially on that time of the month. I overthink things a lot. I sometimes even wonder if my friends actually are my friends. You all that trust issues (but honestly I don't think I have trust issues I just overthink things). I'm not afraid of material things or the supernatural. I'm afraid of being judged and left alone or abandoned. I hate the feeling the loneliness.

But I do give good advice, that's what alot of people tell me. My optimism and energy almost always lifts the mood up. I'm great with talking to people. May it be comforting them, persuading, I can do that. I'm also quite good at reading people. Especially if they are close to me and I've been through things alot with them.

I usually listen to pop or ballad but I like almostvall types of music. Songs like IDK you yet by Alexander23 or This is gospel by Panic at the disco are some of my favorite. My star sign is Cancer but I don't really believe it but I love learning about it. I'm an INFP-T (The dreamer) and my Hogwarts house is Ravenclaw! I love learning and doing new things. Science is my favorite subject, specifically Biology/Zoology. I sing and write stories as a hobby.

akaashi could tell you tended to hide your emotions but didn’t confront you about it due to the fact he didn’t want to upset you and waited for you to come to him about it- so instead he did little things to support you like checking up on you and making sure you were taking care of yourself and helping whenever he could

but when you do open up to him? he could feel his heart hurt a little so he could pulled you into him and held you so close while he whispered how beautiful you are and how much of a wonderful person you are- and he told you how much he loved you as well 🥺💕

if you ever let akaashi hear you sing or read something you’ve wrote? he’d only fall for you even more- and he didn’t think that was possible 😌🤚

he’s so supportive and proud of everything you do- he’s honestly you’re number one fan and is always there for his love :D

I HAVE SO MANY MORE!! this is really exciting

- Rex is so used to being a lone secret agent that when he's found clearly injured or wakes up from being treated for his injuries he's hell bent on getting right up because he worries about not being able to catch the villains and what if they see this happening?? and Marla and Del freak out and are like 'you almost died get back in bed/you gotta come with us right now' and have to assure him that he can't do anything in the state he's in and he's just as human as the rest of them. he's like "I'm fine!!" and then puts weight on a broken leg, or passes out for a bit or one of them point out he's bleeding and so they often have to physically put him back in bed or drag him into Del's truck. he's so used to being this heroic archetype that sometimes he forgets that needs saving and looking after too

- also the reason he won't talk anymore via physical torture?? it may hurt but it doesn't bother him because he's willing to sacrifice his health and even his life to save others, especially since he feels responsible for others who died on his watch, and so psychological torture via hurting or threatening his friends hurts him the most since he cares a lot more about them

- Macready has a soft spot for macaroni cheese, but if you have a death wish, make some puns about "MACaroni and cheese". try him if you dare

- he also has a strange fascination with the books on Bunny Suicides; he has a dark sense of humour and appears to be entertained by comic panels of bunnies finding creative ways to off themselves

- Balthazar Bratt is both lactose intolerant and allergic to strawberries. he doesn't tell anybody this because he considers it weakness and would ruin his image. the reason his bubblegum doesn't make him sick is because that's not natural flavouring (makes sense because 80s and artificial food dye just makes sense to him). also his lactose intolerance doesn't stop him from eating ice cream because "fuck off, you hosers!!" even though it makes him puke afterwards

- Rex's favourite type of music is 80's disco and synth and is a big fan of singers like Billy Joel

- Dave didn't just make a whole persona so he could find a way to create the Medusa serum. it was also to get a way to get attention from humans and he could finally use his skills and intelligence to be able to gain what he lost ages ago, and he knows it's the only way he'd be able to

- Dave leaves the cooking up to his minions for some very good reasons - he once tried to make artificial meat and the less said about that, the better

- people get the impression that Rex is so polite and respectful, that many are often completely shocked when he does swear, and usually a whole string of swear words when he's frustrated, to be absolutely frank. if you want to find out, be around him when something of his breaks or when he's being threatened, or more to the extent, having his friends threatened by his enemies

- Rex is more often than not willing to make sacrifices, even himself, for his friends, and they have to be like 'don't you dare - you are not doing that'. often it saddens and shocks them just how bad his mental health is and how he deals with things every day

- Peter Quill doesn't know how to deal with the fact of what his biological dad did to his mother, his half-siblings, his friends and himself to the point he's more irritable and snappy than usual, less like himself, and when he's alone he cries more than usual too, locking himself in his room and not coming out for a while. he has bursts of anger that he immediately apologises for. sometimes things will break and go on the floor. the others can understand but don't know everything, but they also feel he can't deal with it like this. they try and talk to him about it but he won't open up - at one point, a few of them walk in on him having had a bit too much to drink and he just...opens up about what happened when they weren't there and every single one of them has to have massive self-control finding out even with all the shit Ego did and wanted to do, they weren't aware that he was the reason for his mother's death. Mantis restrains herself because not only does she not want to disturb him, but she realises just how much anger and fear and distress Peter is feeling in that moment

- I also have a headcanon, or more of an AU, that Ego wasn't completely killed and survived somewhat by possessing Peter; his eyes will change colour and any threats against Ego will result in him saying something like "if you kill me, you'll kill Peter. you don't want that to happen, do you now?" fortunately though, he's easily contained, especially when he's around his friends. Ego can possess him better when he's alone, but Peter's mindset is usually strong enough for him to deal with him and he's careful about doing certain things when he's being influenced by him

Q : whats your biggest influence that sounds nothing like your own music

MB : we love PC Music even though we don't really sound like it

Q : out of everything you’ve made, what song is your all-time fave/which one are you the most proud of?

MB : We think Set Me Off is super underrated, but usually our fave is whatever the newest thing we write is

Q : Did Matt take up that offer at the DMV?

MB : hahaha NO

Q : whats the song you guys most had trouble with?

MB : hmmm probably move slow, we re-did the melody and production a few times before we settled on the disco vibes

Q : What made you guys decide to go for shorter song lengths, or was it somethjng that just happened naturally?

MB : We got tired of waiting so long to release official singles, wanted to do low-pressure quick songs that we could get out to our fans sooner!

Q : So like, where’s Voc pop on Spotify?

MB : hahah does anyone actually like that song?! It was the first pop thing we ever made and it was more of a learning experience for us than an actual song to us

Q : are you planning to tour europe anytime soon?

MB : we'd love to tour just need the right opportunity

MB : Actually one of our favorite songs right now is Door! Another is Ever Again (Robyn)

MB : yes we have album plans! Maybe next year

Q : Did you have a specific inspiration for Neon's music video, or was it just the whole vaporwave aesthetic in general?

MB : that video we actually didn't do ourselves, we found that archival footage of the couple and had that intro sequence sone but we sent it to our talented friend Matt Lewis who added the whole vaporwave element, we really weren't too aware of that whole world at the time! But it really worked well with Neon

Q : do you like the band Superorganism?

MB : haven't really listened to Superorganism, we'll check them out!

Q : Only thing I don’t like is the redbone cover to be honest with you and I’ve gone through your YouTube and soundcloud

MB : lol we respect that

MB : we always struggle to think of covers, was thinking of sourcing suggestions on Instagram so maybe we'll do that soon

Q : What is thr most difficult song of the creative process for you guys, is it, say, the lyrics, the melody, the mixing?

MB : probably lyrics, it's not that it's HARD but I get very particular about it and sometimes a little slow haha - Mica

Q : i just have to say, i think i've streamed your one song Only If You Want It a million times. it's such a bop and i think it's a great song to introduce people to your work. what was your inspiration for that song and the retro style music video?

MB : yes we think OIYWI really encapsulates what we're aiming to do musically, really glad you like it! Spice Girls, specifically Say You'll Be There, was a huge inspo. We really love that video but didn't have a plan for it AT ALL when we filmed all that footage of me with our vhs cam hahah so it was a mess but then we figured out the word art aesthetic and the bugs and it all came together

Q : How does it feel to be the highlight of my terrible day? Because once I saw the tweet I felt quite a bit better, plus my magbae playlist keeps me calm

MB : Thank you!! We made that cover ourselves so means a lot, and there's a little nod to each mini song in it which is fun

MB : yes lol how did you know?? we did really weird attempts at promiscuous girl and rod stewart's if you think i'm sexy that will never see the light of day

MB : best/worst thing we've encountered in the music industry: one of the best things is finding our stuff being posted on r/popheads, we used to have to do it ourselves hahah, worst thing is dealing with shady industry people

Q : Any plans for shows in the Los Angeles area by the end of the year?

MB : re LA shows: we're working on it! probably yes

Q : Did you start making music for the fun of it, or did you actually have asperations to be famous?

MB : we started making music back in high school in a rock band and it just evolved from there. I (mica) never thought I would really do this until i had to graduate college and was like wait!!! I don't want a real job!! // Matt always knew he wanted to work in music

Q : magdalena bay, how would you guys describe your songwriting process?

MB : it's pretty different for each song, only thing that stays the same is that we write lyrics after melody, not all writers do that! but a song can start with a beat or chords or sometimes melody, from either of us!

Q : ooh I actually have one more question! what song of yours has the most meaning to you? whether it’s bc of the inspiration behind it or something else

MB : probably some of the unreleased stuff, but you'll hear it soon! a song called airplane is prob the most personal to me (mica)

Q : what artist(s) would you collab with, if you could pick any?

MB : soo many but Rina Sawayama is near the top of our list

Q : If you could travel back in time and impart one piece of advise to your early teenage selves, what would it be?

MB : START MAKING POP SOONER

Q : So do you sit down for hours and work on thinking of melodies or do they come to you randomly and you're like "whelp, time to record"

MB : both definitely happen, iphone voice memos are key

Q : Actually I do have a question, if y'all had a bigger budget, what would you be doing differently?

MB : blackpink-level music videos

MB : We've just started playing video games and love zelda twilight princess but we're dumb and bad at it and are always stuck lol

Q : there are several users here in popheads who are trying to get into the music industry, if you have one tip you can give them, what would it be?

MB : try to do everything you can yourself- from music production to videos to graphics you will learn a lot and be less reliant on other people!! and you'll save money haha

MB : yes we were worried lol

MB : definitely ag cook, Sophie, grimes, toro, also get a lot of influence from the classics like max martin, quincy jones, pharell

Q : What's one thing people might be surprised to learn about the both of you, respectively?

MB : Maybe that we started music playing in a progressive rock band (the opposite of pop) also matt is an amazing chef and mica is argentinian??

Q : if there is one, favourite Britney Spears album/song?

MB : BLACKOUT we listen to it every day

MB : Yes but we're not gonna link hahah, and we started making pop because we were at school in different cities and pop is easier to make long distance.... didn't know we'd fall in love with making it! Also mica discovered art angels around that time and that was that
