Ghost does a remake/ reimagining of Phantom of the Paradise but Tobias the control freak* he is rewrites all of the songs for the "Faust" album (which is released not as a movie soundtrack but as a Ghost album) and every main character/ character that sings is a ghoul from the band

Tobias plays both the Phantom (but someone else plays Winslow for confusion's sake?) and Swan if only because I want to see him go full ham against himself lol

Or like, Brain de Palma could just make a Ghost movie based on Tobias's lores

charlie deravin ist nach einem tätlichen angriff gegenüber seinem vorgesetzten vom polizeidienst in menlo beach suspendiert. der fall an dem er gerade arbeitete, eine vergewaltigung, muss allerdings sehr zu seiner freude, kurz bevor der täter vor gericht freigesprochen worden wäre, neu aufgerollt werden – neue jury, neue zeugen. in all der freien zeit, über die der geschiedene polizist nun verfügt, in der er nur zwischendurch einmal mit einer psychologin über den vorfall im revier reden muss, kann er nicht aufhören über seine mutter nachzudenken, die vor zwanzig jahren spurlos verschwunden ist. die ermittlungen verliefen im sande von menlo beach. hauptverdächtiger war aber stets charlies vater, der sich kurz zuvor von seiner mutter hatte scheiden lassen. beweise gab es allerdings keine. während charlie stets von der unschuld seines vaters, auch polizist, überzeugt war, hatte sein bruder immer zweifel. doch jetzt, mit all der zeit nimmt charlie privat die ermittlungen wieder auf, rekonstruiert die ereignisse – am selben tag wie seine mutter verschwand auch ein kind vom strand. er war gerade mit seinen kollegen auf der suche nach dem kind, als seine mutter verschwand. und nicht nur rekonstruiert er alles, er nimmt auch fahndung und befragungen wieder auf. wie der zufall will werden auf einem grundstück in der gegend leichen gefunden und plötzlich wird der vergessene fall seiner mutter wieder hochaktuell und schnell wird anstoß daran genommen, dass charlie auf eigene faust polizist spielt, obwohl er suspendiert ist. doch die ereignisse nehmen immer neue wendungen – sollte doch sein vater, gerade auf kreuzfahrt mit seiner neuen frau, schuldig sein? aber sollte er seine ex tatsächlich damals umgebracht haben, warum dann noch der junge, der zusammen mit seiner mutter auf einem lange verlassenen grundstück verscharrt war? eines scheint allerdings sehr klar zu sein: ob der planung und allem was man sich zusammenreimen kann, muss der täter einen polizeihintergrund haben...

sehr spannend geschrieben, ein furioses finale und wunderbare wendungen – einfach alles, was ein guter krimi braucht! protagonist ist in dishers roman nicht der erfolgreiche kommissar, clever und wortgewandt, sondern ein suspendierter, an sich zweifelnder polizist, der in der ungemütlichen vergangenheit seines eigenen lebens und dem der eigenen familie herumstochern muss und dabei fast im sumpf von korrupten behörden versinkt. gekonnt führt disher bis zum schreiend-spannenden finale an der nase rum, in dem protagonist und leser alles wie schuppen von den augen fällt.

Is there like a family tree thing you have for Faust, Janek or Robin? Curious about their backstory and all that

Ooooh buckle up for a very looong post :D

Faust was hatched a very long time ago and she doesn't even remember her parents.

Crows however are connected to Janek's family. The Corbards are this very old family, I showed some previous people who were Faust’s partners here and here. More info about crows here, here and here.

(fun fact: all born Corbards have middle names that start with letter A)

Okay, so a lot of stuff I have about Corbards are some loose stuff but I’ll try to explain everything as best as I can ^^

Janek has an older brother, Emil. Emil was partially responsible for Janek being bitten by a werewolf. In summary, when they were kids, Emil dared Janek to spend a night at a cemetery, the boys didn’t knew about the danger that was waiting there (more about it here and here). He has a loving boyfriend Matt (that’s kinda a placeholder name, I don’t really feel it) they’ve been together since high school. Emil works a lot in a local hospital as a nurse. The brothers have a very sweet and loving relationship, they know they can always relay on each other. Emil often protected Janek from bullies, when they were younger.

Tobias was never a good father nor a husband, he left his wife and older son before Janek was born. And now, this part is super-super under development (tw for murder and suicide), I haven’t thought about it a lot but Tobias shortly after that has murdered the rest of his family (parents, brothers, sisters etc.) and killed himself. The only remaining Corbards left were Emil, Janek and Miranda. What he did was so awful, there’s even a saying that “The Corbard crows flinch when they hear his name.” Since the birds are immortal, they were all witnesses to what happened.

Miranda is… well not really a single mom, but about that later. I haven’t come up with what she does for a living, but I imagine it’s some sort of office-based job. After her failed marriage she developed a relationship with her work colleague. I haven’t come up with a name for her (as we established already I’m terrible with names), but the boys treat her like a part of the family, which at some point becomes reality. See, the day before her and Miranda’s wedding was the day Janek and Robin decided to start their own relationship (he asked her to be his plus one, and stuff just developed from there.

 As for Robin’s family, there’s not much I have right now. The family is however very big, her parents have a lot of siblings, so Robin has a lot of cousins, her parents compare her to. An important family member that’s worth mentioning is Robin’s aunt. She doesn’t have a name yes (of course) but she’s the person Robin lives with after getting a job in Janek’s hometown. There’s some information about Robin’s family here.

I think that’s all the stuff I have so far? As I mentioned it’s mostly loose stuff, so I might change it in the future, like, what I wrote here wasn’t even the first version. If you read all of this, wow, kudos to you.
