Meet the Protagonists

Leaf (The Laconic Wanderer)

Partner Pokémon: Ignis (Charizard)

🤎 Leaf is primarily nonverbal. Despite this, she experiences little difficulty making friends wherever she goes, being more often than not seen by others as delightfully peculiar.

🤎 Red is her older twin brother. Although Leaf is entirely adept at dealing with less than friendly battles in addition to Green's attitude, he will instantly overcome his debilitating awkwardness to intervene should he believe she's being aggressed.

🤎 Regardless of Green's arrogance only taking a turn for the worst after receiving his starter Pokémon, Leaf doesn't bear any bitterness towards him. She still views her rival as her cherished friend and sincerely congratulates him on his victories.

Kotone (The Unwavering Altruist)

Partner Pokémon: Eva (Typhlosion)

🤎 Kotone's strongest quality is her compassion and willingness to assist anyone in need, even those who have shown her nothing but contempt - such as a certain redhead she continually crosses paths with during her journey.

🤎 She shares a friendly rivalry with her next-door neighbor Kris and is watched over by her in a way similar to that of an older sister. Kris can't help but worry about Kotone's kindhearted nature someday resulting in her being hurt.

🤎 She shows an affinity for Pokémon that are fearsome in appearance, as she feels they're frequently misunderstood and deserve to be treated softly too.

Haruka (The Adventurous Darling)

Partner Pokémon: Candeloro (Blaziken)

🤎 Haruka's greatest joy as a Trainer is exploring land and sea in search of something exciting. She may be dressed cutely for the part, but she doesn't fear the possibility of getting drenched or dirty either.

🤎 She has a spectacular singing voice! Aside from performing onstage as a Contest Star later into her adventure, she's fond of belting out sea shanties while surfing through Hoenn's extensive aquatic routes.

🤎 She loves collecting Poké Dolls and can't resist buying at least one whenever she shops where some are sold. She proudly dubs her steadily growing pile of plushies her 'Dolldex'.

Hikari (The Celestial Beacon)

Partner Pokémon: Kaiser (Empoleon)

🤎 Hikari can give off the impression of possessing an aloof attitude, and typically this claim is correct. However, she will show warmth towards someone she considers close to her, or who's managed to capture her intrigue.

🤎 A pointed stare from those steely gray eyes of hers can unsettle even some of the most stoic individuals. Several opponents will lose awareness in battle by struggling to avoid her gaze.

🤎 She speaks with a deep, womanly voice and a calm, controlled intonation that both intimidates and beckons. Her manner of speech could be described as somewhat elegant, yet occasionally carries an unusual air, almost as if originating from a bygone era.

Touko (The Hot-Blooded Heroine)

Partner Pokémon: Gretchen (Serperior)

🤎 Touko is an intense young woman who feels passionately about battling, protecting the innocent, and battling to protect the innocent. She does so loudly and with much bravado.

🤎 Touya is her timid younger brother. Though the two are twins, Touko still affectionately (and routinely accompanied by a pinch to the cheek or a noogie) refers to him as her "baby brother".

🤎 Standing at a striking six feet tall, Touko not only boasts strength as a Trainer, but through physical feats as well. She suplexes Boldore, just because she can! (The wild Boldore enjoy this and will even form a line patiently waiting for their turn to be tossed.)

Mei (The Starry-Eyed Romantic)

Partner Pokémon: Nagisa (Samurott)

🤎 Mei sets out on her journey in the summer, earning Gym Badges and filling out pages of the Pokédex for the professor. But she has an additional goal in mind - to find her prince!

🤎 She can be clumsy, frequently tripping over her own two feet out of excitement, and so emotional that she's easily moved to tears. Her rival Hue has caught her countless times and carries tissues around in his pockets for when she cries.

🤎 Although she's on a quest of romance searching for her prince, Mei also adores playing the role of Enamorus for others - whether her efforts are appreciated or not.

Serena (The Graceful Belle)

Partner Pokémon: Maxine (Delphox)

🤎 Serena presents herself as a softspoken and refined young lady. Before any battle, she always performs a curtsy for her opponent, regardless of their conduct or class.

🤎 Prior to settling in Vaniville Town, she resided in Aspertia City. During her stay there, Mei grew as dear to her as a younger sister and the two still communicate regularly.

🤎 As the daughter of a Silph Co. magnate and a world-renowned Rhyhorn racer, she's experienced a comfortable lifestyle. However, rather than accepting the rare, powerful, and well-trained Pokémon her father offered before beginning her journey, she politely declined.

Mizuki (The Mischievous Spirit)

Partner Pokémon: Silas (Decidueye)

🤎 Mizuki shares a strong camaraderie with Ghost-type Pokémon due to having been raised in Lavender Town, to the point she's adopted their behaviors. She takes great pleasure out of teasing her friends and tormenting her foes.

🤎 She holds a deep, unwavering amount of respect towards Leaf for pacifying the spirit of the mother Marowak at Pokémon Tower (and a deep, unwavering amount of resentment towards Green for "being a sack of butts" to Leaf).

🤎 Her favorite prank to play on someone is to ask if they believe in ghosts. Should they answer no, she replies with, "Then that white hand on your shoulder… it must be my imagination."

Gloria (The Triumphant Dawn)

Partner Pokémon: Julian (Inteleon)

🤎 Gloria is tenacious, sharp-witted, and valiant. Her nerves of steel allow her to face the scrutinizing gaze of the stadium's crowd and place all her focus on providing the best match possible.

🤎 Victor is her older brother by two years and works as an aspiring journalist for The Galarian Gazette, the region's largest news source.

🤎 When she was younger, Gloria harbored a crush on Leon and even tearfully confessed to him before he departed from Postwick to begin his journey. It's a moment she feels great mortification towards in the present and likes to pretend never happened.

Akari (The Skyfallen Luminary)

Partner Pokémon: Seraphina (Typhlosion)

🤎 Akari is in fact Hikari, flung backwards across space-time into the distant past, three years following becoming The Champion of Sinnoh and defending her title with chilling precision.

🤎 She took on the name ‘Akari’ due to being unable to recall her name at the time, only that it had ‘a kari’ within it. Even when her memory returned shortly afterward, she decided to keep her true name concealed.

🤎 Despite having gained the attentions and affections of a certain Clan Leader and Ginkgo Guild Merchant, it’s anyone’s guess as to where the obliviousness ends and the denial begins.

Juliana (The Straight A's Scholar)

Partner Pokémon: Antonio (Meowscarada)

🤎 Juliana aspires to be the perfect student. She attends every class, arrives at least five minutes early, actively participates in discussions, and studies diligently between lessons.

🤎 Gloria is her first cousin and this causes quite the stir when she arrives at the academy. But rather than being acknowledged for having the recently crowned Galarian Champion as her relative, Juliana wants her own accomplishments to take pride in.

🤎 Her dedication to achieving academic success is so strong, the majority of her Pokémon are given names that begin with the letter 'A'. Antonio, Alexander, Alistair, Aimee, Agnes...

My AEW Revolution 2024 Predictions

I am so excited for this ppv and I have to much energy on myself so, deal with it

Tornado Tag Match Sting's Last Match - Darby Allin & Sting (AEW Tag Team Champions) VS Golf Trainers- oh sorry- AEW EVP'S Matthew & Nicholas Jackson

Let's start with the cherry on the top, I am so ready to cry on this match, even knowing that most likely Sting will appear again on AEW but not wrestling again

But for sure, 100% that the not Young Bucks anymore will win this match - I mean if its Sting's last match will Darby defend both belts alone?? I mean he is capable of it. but come on, one last match of this amazing tag team against the non Young Bucks is the perfect finish for this era

AEW WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP - Samoa Joe (C) VS Swerve Strickland VS Hangman Adam Page

Everyone is imagining that it will Swerve versus Hangman and Samoa Joe will be like third wheeling or something like that

this one will be pretty intense both men fighting for the gold and Samoa Joe defending it

I really want Swerve to win it but I think Samoa Joe will retain it, I mean it's the first ppv that he defends it

AEW WOMEN'S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP - "Timeless" Toni Storm (C) VS Deonna Purrazo

Besides the Zero Hour one with Kris and Willow versus Julia Hart and Skye Blue, this is the only women´s match on the ppv..........come on AEW, your women's division is so freaking powerful and you still don´t know how to properly promoted, and we are on the International Women's month, come on......

I think Deonna Purrazo will win it for sure, but if Toni retains it I am so excited to see how this feud will keep going, because this feud was so well played, I am more than seated for this match

AEW INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP - Orange Cassidy (C) VS Roderick Strong

It has to be Orange Cassidy, if it isn´t I will shave my eyebrows

legitimately i think my favorite setup for the johto protagonists in a world where all three of them exist and had a hand in stopping team rocket is gold being a wandering trainer, kris being the leader of the battle tower and lyra being the champion. i like having kris be Main Rivals with silver the most just because gsc IS the direct sequel to rby and like i've said a million times before there is something soooo compelling to me about rby starting out with the red protagonist and the blue rival and watching their friendship dissolve over the course of the games and then gsc starting out with the blue protagonist and the red rival and watching their friendship grow over the course of the games. like something something symbolism or whatever. and she becomes leader of the battle tower because a) the johto battle tower is the only battle tower in the series that doesn't have a leader, b) it and she both were introduced in crystal, and c) considering the fact that the trainers in the battle tower have dialogue directly implying they've already heard of her status as "the chosen one" it just. makes sense to me. and see i like having lyra as the champion because i think out of all three johto protagonists she would have the best disposition for it. of course all champions are made different but lyra was created to look and seem warm and friendly (not to say that she ALWAYS has to be warm and friendly! simply that she is most of the time and appears that way) and that kind of personality is definitely suitable for the literal figurehead of a region. judging based on disposition alone gold and kris just seem like total assholes by comparison. and i like gold as a wandering trainer just because i think being an explorer SUITS him. he's definitely the first one to battle red after stumbling across him by accident and i think he definitely triggers that arceus mindfuck that happens in the hgss sinjoh ruins. i think he disappears off the face of the earth more than red ever did. and he'll just come back with the weirdest shit imaginable while he's at it. absolute cryptid. and while i'm at this whole thing as for silver i think he's off getting into fistfights with clair and i think lance is in the background egging them on because he thinks it's fucking hilarious

DR POKÉMON TEAMS

Fluffyboy Ralsei!!

1. Wooloo: This cute Pokémon's wool can be used to make scarves (as well as all sorts of other fluffy knit things). It's so fluffy, it won't take any damage even if it falls off a cliff! This Pokémon not only resembles Ralsei, but is also a reference to Asriel's team in Pokémon Undertale. I like to think Wooloo is the one whose wool Ralsei collects to make his own clothes in the Dark World. Wooloo is based off a black sheep, and its black-and-white colouration can be a reference to Ralsei's appearance changing depending on if he wears his hat.

2. H. Zorua: Ralsei shares this illusion-crafting Pokémon with Lancer, although Ralsei's is a ghost and normal type regional varient of Zorua. This white Zorua resembles its trainer. It even has a red "scarf"! According to its Pokédex entry, "This Pokémon has a cowardly disposition, so when it's not around friends, it basically always stays transformed as something else." We don't know what Ralsei's "overworld"/Light World counterpart is, but it very well could be a plushie that looks like this Pokémon!

3. Woobat: Woobat lives in dark places and caves. It leaves behind heart-shaped marks where it sticks to walls. It is said that if a person finds themselves with the same mark, it is a sign of good fortune and friendship. Speaking of friendship, this Pokémon evolves with high friendship. I like to imagine it will reach its second form, Swoobat, during Ralsei's adventures with his friends Susie and Kris.

4. Mimikyu: Mimikyu is a lonely, dark form with a hand-sewn costume. It resembles something that already exists, but it's definitely something different. It remind me of Ralsei's training dummy, and the way he shyly hid under his hate for the entire first chapter of the game. It is here for many of the same reasons I put it on Papyrus's team (I wonder...if Papyrus ever goes on a Dark World adventure and ends up in Undertale with Sans...could this be where Papyrus's own Mimikyu came from?)

5. Jigglypuff: This adorable, fluffy, pink Pokémon sings to put foes to sleep, and it evolves into a very fluffy, very cute, very STRONG Wigglytuff. Its big ol' eyes remind me of Ralsei's own big and adorable eyes behind his round glasses. They almost have the same curl of hair on their heads! I wonder if Ralsei copied Jigglypuff, or if Jigglypuff gets it hair styled by Prince Fluffyboy.

6. Alcremie: The sweet cream Pokémon, it is adorable and sweet and references Ralsei's affinity for baking. It is a mirror to Lancer's Mr. Mime. According to the Pokédex, this Pokémon is used by bakers to help them make sweet treats. It also has many different forms it can take depending on how it is evolved. The picture I used here is its basic form, but Ralsei very well could have any number of combinations, including its black shiny. Heck, he might have be friends with a whole bunch of them! Maybe he makes them in his cauldron...who knows! It's cute to think about, though. Just...keep them away from Susie, Ralsei! She might try to eat them...

Now, our assigned Legendary and Mythical may surprise you, but hear me out...

Rayquaza: Rayquaza is obviously a match to Ralsei's green colouration, but it is also here for a deeper reason. It is one of three ancient nature Pokémon, Pokémon so ancient they have primal forms. They're probably as old as Ralsei's prophecy. Since Kris gets Kyogre and Susie gets Groudon, this is the perfect trio to represent our Deltarune heroes. While Kyogre and Groudon fight, much like how Susie and Kris didn't get along in Chapter 1, Rayquaza keeps the peace between them like Ralsei did. Rayquaza and Ralsei bring Kris and Susie together. Rayquaza is also associates with the skies and stars, like Asriel is in the Light World.

Darkrai: Darkrai is a Pokémon misunderstood to be evil, kind of like how some people are suspicious of Ralsei. However, Darkrai only puts people to sleep and gives them nightmares to protect itself. In reality, it is just lonely. It is known as the pitch black Pokémon. It can create areas of total darkness, like a Dark World's dark fountain. I like to think Ralsei met this Pokémon and befriended it after showing it mercy and kindness instead of immediately attacking it or running away. While Darkrai isn't on Ralsei's team, I imagine it protects its friend Ralsei from the shadows.

I guess I’m numbering these!!

LACONIC WANDERER. I learned a whole new word from you, honestly that synonym works better than saying “silent” or something, it adds a new layer of mystery. Maybe the style and spelling and vibe of the word. Ignis hehe, Latin for fire, that one sure is popular, granted I’ve only seen it used one other time, but def much nicer than other fire based English names.

Kotone, ah the Johto games always gave off a more justice vibe to me. I had to erase a whole spiel I accidentally went off on here, but it definitely captures the passion in those games. Even TR acknowledges that about the protagonist. Cute Pokémon name too!

Haruuukaaaa my 2nd fav, ugh weren’t those Pokémon Evolution episodes SO good for her and Leaf? Adventurous Darling!!! Oh she SO is, under the SEA into SPACE, the varied climate for Hoenn is BUILT for adventure. And v cute too, very lovable. Steven got roasted by his dad and Zinnia over the better newer Champ AND by Hoenn Radio, only game to have it too I think? I’m biting my lips to not launch into a rant about every girl and their region, you’re activating my Pokémon Fanatic side and this CAN get into deep meta territory if I’m not careful.

Candeloro!! Yes, Blaziken, giant candle, I can see it, very shaped. The whole loro at the end is very nickname-y, and I wonder if I feel that way bc of the nickname Toro by her manga counterpart from Pokespe.

Congrats to BW for being the only game to deliberately call the protagonist a hero of something of prophecy. Very battle-ready, good ol’ Unova where they demand active students for competitive programs but god forbid you actually fight for social change. You said every girl’s personality was different and honestly I see it, and it fits them and where they grew up perfectly. Throw them in a room together and it will be so interesting how the dynamics work. Gretchen? I had to look that one up, and it’s interesting. Even if someone didn’t know the meaning of any of these names, just the way they roll off the tongue feels like a name that matches each girl’s character. Vowels and consonants and all that.

I’m scared of this thing refreshing on me so I’ll continue in another ask.

So! Leaf was in fact the last of the girls to receive her title. I knew I wanted to use the adjective 'Laconic', but no matter where I looked, there wasn't a word to describe someone who happens to appear at the right place at the right time.

And that's kind of what she does? Leaf didn't set out to track down Team Rocket, she kept arriving at just the right moment to interfere. But Wanderer works well for her, because that's what she loves to do. Leaf travels at her own leisurely pace, that's her approach to life too. She enjoys stopping to sniff the Roselia, so to speak.

Kotone's was another one that took some time. I wanted a title that conveys her strongest quality, her compassion. She is ceaselessly gentle and kind, no matter how combative and rude Silver is towards her. Her patient attitude towards him also contrasts well with her friends' feelings. Hibiki is easily intimidated by him, and Kris thinks what the redhead needs most is a good kick to seat of the pants.

Even though Kotone is almost always shown with Chikorita as a partner, I think Typhlosion is best for this AU's incarnation of her. Kotone's Typhlosion, Eva (who is actually male), his name means 'life'. Fire doesn't have to only bring destruction. It can also bring warmth, and I feel that's something which matches Kotone's outlook. She tries to see the good in everything and everyone.

Haruka, I've always described how I see her as 'the perfect blend of tomboy and girly girl'. She can be both! She's traveled all across the region and has even gone to space, she's become the strongest trainer in Hoenn, she also collects Poké Dolls and performs onstage as a beloved Contest Star.

Similarly to Kotone more often than not being shown with Chikorita, Touko usually is given Tepig/Emboar as a partner. Without looking at who her partner is in Sisterhood, one may assume from her title that this is the case here as well.

However, a Serperior is her starter! The 'Hot-Blooded' in Touko's title pertains to her being Reshiram's Chosen instead. I think if someone were to tell her that a Fire-type suits her better, she would respond with something like,

"My partner may not have flames on the outside, but that doesn't matter! The flames of passion burn bright inside her!!"

Not gonna lie to you- I was having such a crises deciding on which Silver to write for this one. Grumpy Game Silver or Shy Manga Silver- which one??? Ultimately Manga!Silver won out because I don't know Kris that well besides her manga counterpart. I hope that's okay!

Me + You: "No way! I didn't know you were ticklish!"

“No way!” Kris grinned, eyes dancing as her hand darted out to poke the redhead’s side once more. “I didn’t know you were ticklish!”

“I’m n-nohohot! Kris!” Silver swatted at her hands, cheeks red. “Stahhap that!”

“No way! You’re all grumpy today.” She teased, going from poking to grabbing, giving his hip a squeeze and making him fall back with a laugh. “So I’m gonna fix that!”

“I’m not gruuhuhuhuhmpy!” Silver cried as her hands attacked. “I wahahhahas thiihiihihnking!”

Kris knew this. The longer she spent with her redheaded rival, the more she learned he was just a naturally quiet person. He didn’t really talk much, and this was all the more reason she wanted to get a reaction out of him.

That, and he was rather adorable when he laughed like this.

“Krihihihihihis, plehahahhahhase!” Silver begged when her hands found his ribs, arms shooting down to protect them from her relentless attack. “Nohohohohohot thehehehhehere!”

“Why not? Does it tickle too much? Does it?” She teased, grinning when a few snorts mixed in with his growing laughing fits. “Aww, is someone too ticklish? Is he? Ehehehe!”

“Kriihihiihihis, pleehhahahahahhase!” Silver reached out, letting his pokeball roll across the grass. Seconds later, Totodile appeared. “Toohohoohohotodihiihihle, hehehehheelp!”

“Rawr?” The alligator tilted his head, watching curiously.

“I tohohohohld you, I’m nohooohot gruuhuhmp-EHEHHEHE!” Silver squeaked when his pokemon bounced over, nuzzling his neck and face with his snout. “TOOHOHOHTODILE, NOHOOHOHT YOU THOHOHOOHOO!”

“Hehe, there it is!” Kris giggled, delighted by the sweet sound. Eventually, when Silver was hiccuping more than laughing and Totodile started bumping her hands, the girl released her friend, sitting beside him as he curled into the grass, gasping for breath. “Hehe, have you been de-grumped, Silv?”

The only response she got was him giving her the finger, making her laugh so hard she choked.

After the Final Battle - Chapter 1 Page 1

Soo... here it is! This comic has had a bumpy ride and I'm glad to finally have the first page in posteable conditions after two-ish years of work and two other editions I wasn't satisfied with.

The comic will feature Ethan (Nicknamed Gold), Kris and Silver the day after the "cannonical" final battle of the johto games, hence the name.

It is based on an old Pokemon theory that caught my attention at the time, which I won't mention because spoilers I know the backgrounds are sloppy, I didn't draw them while working on paper and I regret it, making something like that from scrath isn't fun So... one down, 49 plus a pending epilogue to go, this is going to be FUN

(sorry for the tiny font, I'm still working on something that's both legible and doesn't take half a frame)

Some facts and headcannons that will matter later but I'll put out now -Kris lives in blackthorn, next to the move deleter -Kris is the kid of two Search and Rescue officers, and as such, knows her stuff about the wilderness and first aid -Also she climbs mountains as a hobby, the bag slung on her back is mostly climbing equipment -Lyra DOES exist, she just has the same role as if the player chose Ethan in the remakes (and won't make an appearance until the latter part of the epilogue, if I upload that at all) -Ethan's nickname is Gold, he'll be called that throughout the whole comic for convenience -Ethan is both the leader of the group and an impulsive idiot, Kris mostly hangs with him to keep him alive -By this point, Silver isn't official friends with the other two, but is on friendly enough terms to go along with them most of the time -Silver's homeless, he sleeps wherever he won't be bothered -Red being on Mount Silver is a legend of sorts, almost every experienced trainer knows about it -The whole Johto-to-Kanto journey took about a year and a half, Ethan's been training for this battle for four months, so it's been almost two years since Ethan and Kris got their starters and Silver stole his, and about FIVE years since the Kanto games -The ledge Red stands on is a VERY steep cliff that leads to a valley -Ethan, in a way, "plays" (Heart)Gold edition, he climbed the Tin tower and caught Ho-oh -Kris "plays" Crystal edition, she went with Ethan to the Tin tower, but only got to the ground floor before battling (and catching) Suicune -Kris' Vulpix is kind of the "baby" of the group, kind of like Togepi in the anime, but actually good in battle, his name is Moxy and he's a very good boy

Appearance and Personality

Appearance: Sayoko has a normal average but slender female body build, she either chubby or a little skinny from a different POV. She has long and wavy dark jean blue cored hair which it's slightly dent after being tied up too many times. She has light ocean blue colored eyes but they can turn into emerald green whenever she uses her half-myth abilities. Sayoko is a very quiet person but she knows a lot in her head.

Personality: Born as an only child like some of her friends, Sayoko is also a high-class female noble and is also a heiress to her family's name but her aunt is slightly well-known alongside with Kiara, Sylvie and Valencia. Needless to say her family line runs rather about detectives, which her aunt is a top secret one and is still doing so.

Aspired by her aunt's current job during a young age, this slightly made Sayoko admire some detectives in some of the novels and games she had as a child during her studies as a heiress, though she's slightly secretive about it and somewhat became a closet gamer but her parents and aunt seem to know about but decided to pry it but they do support her since she did a good job on being heiress and a closet gamer separately.

Sayoko is slightly quiet, preserve and a little sensitive in herself, although she doesn't stutter whenever she speaks to someone but doesn't seem to like a close-up or direct eye-contact to anyone during a conversation which it would scare her for a bit, which she ends up ending the talk and then walk away pretty fast.

She's mostly seen with Freya, Yaeko, and Akio and the rest of her half-myth companions in the campus, her interaction with them are slightly different than interacting with either a stranger to not. Let's just say that she's slightly uncomfortable with someone to someone knew which it might take some time for her to get used to a close up eye-contact from someone she isn't familiar with.

Like some of her friends int he school, she too is a member of the SIDC company but is a trainee in Quinn's rank like Yaeko and Akio, Sayoko herself tends to be slightly serious when working there.

But aside from that, Sayoko seems to be friendly and sweet despite her timidity if you get close to her in a different method possible. She tends to hold all of her curiosity back whenever someone catches her eyes, it's either something she likes or just curious of but in the end she'll learn to like it. Either way, Sayoko herself couldn't help it after all.

Timidity is sometimes an act of a hidden mask, is what she secretly calls it. Sayoko being silent is another way of being cautious towards anyone who had intentions, either good or bad which she never seemed to have an opinion onto except she's a bit distance but if something snapped within herself, it's a split side of her that no one expects to see from her eventually.

Sometimes the act of her timidly and silence behavior is a bit of a weapon that is difficult to bring down to...

-The name 'Sayoko' is primarily a female name of Japanese origin that means Small, Child, Generation. While her surname 'Cerulean' comes from Latin caeruleus, which means "dark blue" and is most likely from caelum, "sky."

-She's based on Shuichi Saihara.

-She's have met Kiara and Valencia in a banquet party, plus she's in a comfortable terms with the Main Trio and knows how to handle Quinn's tendencies.

Unit Teambuilding - Eevee Day

I am doing these as a set. I refuse to cover them separately. They function identically, and are all lumped into the same spotlight, which is atrocious. 1.5% focus rates for each, on a shared scout, with a 7% appearance rate for 5*s. I hate it. And as if that wasn’t bad enough, none of them get EX. Yeah, apparently DeNA decided it was a great idea to make limited availability units that share a scout for lower rates than usual on a 7% 5* appearance rate, and not even give the new focuses EX. That’s the first time they’ve done that since, what, early 2020? What the actual hell is the deal with this spotlight?

General Overview All three Eeveelutions are carbon copies of one another, being Tech units with:

One-bar spam, two-bar status, three-bar AoE, trainer move that buffs one stat for them and another stat for the party.

Passives are setting a field multiplier on sync, some bonus condition under that field effect, and a debuff to a particular stat.

Near identical grid layout, including multipliers on the field effect, application of their status, and Brainteaser; buffs a stat each sync; Synchro Healing; and another debuff.

On the whole, it's a fairly neat kit. 1/5 tools can be sufficient with the right combinations, though 3/5 sync grids come in three flavors: (1) Pure damage, with Brainpower, status multiplier, and field effect multiplier; (2) Pure support, with MPR, secondary debuff, Sync buff, and Synchro Healing as options; (3) hybrid, with Brainpower, status multiplier, MPR, and secondary debuff. And before I talk about each, I need to make a broad statement.

The lack of EX does not hinder them as much as you’d think. In fact, all three are top 5 sync nukers within their type, with Lucas and Kris being top 3. To put that in context, without EX buff and a lower base damage threshold because Tech, Kris’ sync outdamages Ash by a good 700k. It’s a margin such that, even without the Sync Induction tile, she wins. Even as the underdog, she still overperformed. That’s just the Johto way. All three of them sync harder than SS N does, and he got EX. I speak sincerely when I say they avoided EX on these three because they were scared of overdoing it.

That said, damage is under optimal conditions, and in this case that means terrain is up, all multipliers are active. For all three, they apply their needed field effect on sync, but that means it fades before they reach their next, so they are required to have a partner setting it for them, or their sync nuke loses a ton of momentum. Lyra and Lucas have it easy, because they have a Support option that sets needed effects. Kris does not, so have fun running Volkner or SST Red, I guess. This leads to issue #2: it also means the status is applied. Most of them cannot take time out of their buffing to apply status, unless they trade out and let an ally buff while they status. Either way, teambuilding constraints exist, especially for CS. Third, grid energy constraints means that for Lucas and Kris, if they go for optimal sync, they have to give up MPR on their trainer move, which means not capping their own special attack or crit. This is generally bad, because those are tough stats to shop for. Finally, even support sets need to take sync consistently for their field multiplier, and anything below 3/5 both lacks damage from taking sync, and has no other useful support tools to speak of aside from innate debuffs. Fun fact: their best debuffs are the ones on 3/5 grid, surprise surprise. It’s also worth noting that, because they take sync, they work best with high DPS moves, which are high gauge cost, and are spamming their own 3-bar move in CS for debuffs. Basically, speed buffs are a necessity for them in many situations.

All this culminates in a set of units that are high potential, but extremely challenging to pull off, requiring very specific team compositions to achieve their goals. In general, while it takes a hit to sync effectiveness, I prefer a hybrid approach using MPR, to ease some of your team requirements. Kris is in the worst position of the three, due to needing terrain, paralysis, and buffing support, and not having any decent support that compresses the roles, so a hybrid approach is downright required. It’s just...incredibly hard to shop for this particular playstyle, and I really think removal of EX was unnecessary given their flaws.

But enough generalizing, let’s talk specifics.

LUCAS Lucas’ focus is on Burn, buffing team special attack, debuffing attack, setting Sun, and blocking status effects. His second debuff on 3/5 grid is special defense.

In my humble opinion, Lucas’ best utility is his debuffing. While his sync is strong, Fire-type DPS has never been an issue for anyone, and he holds the same limitations as Silver, who is otherwise perfectly fine as a solution. Lucas’ main use is having debuffing similar to Lucian. While 3v3 fights are a lot tougher for him because of the three-bar AoE, 1v3 in Gauntlet gets similar results with Ember. But what really pushes Lucas over the edge into relevance is SS Morty. SS Morty has built-in Vigilance and Sunny Disposition on grid, and Lucas provides immunity to status under Sun. SS Morty can have three lucky skills, and still gets another. He is immune to everything with Lucas. Lucas’ other big benefit is special attack boosting for the team, meaning he is the complementary piece to SS Morty/Leon that Leon’s been waiting for, while also supporting Serena and Gardenia, and providing a faster pace to DPS for SS Red. Lucas fits beautifully with top Fire-type CS meta, and has a nice debuff combination for Gauntlet. While he’s worse off than Lucian in the generalist role, his utility in the specific Fire-type comp is overwhelmingly positive.

Move level? Move level is pretty flexible. For the ultimate Fire team comps, 1/5 is fine, he’s really just supplying Morty with immortality, but 3/5 does offer the special defense debuffs that can take the team well over the top. 2/5 is irrelevant in almost every situation, because all it gives is MPR on trainer move to cap special attack, and most allies can buff +2.

Team 1: Lucas, SS Morty, Leon/Serena/Gardenia I've waited for this. SS Morty and Serena weren't inherently bad before, but they had problems. Those problems are gone now, as Lucas enters the fray and completes the team beautifully. Their every offensive need is covered, as are defensive needs, and even debuffing support if Lucas is ready. It's amazing. Gardenia’s a Grass-type that works well with this composition, and with Grand Entry still works with 1/5 Lucas just fine.

Team 2: Lucas, Lucian, SC Jasmine/SC Lillie If you don't have SS Morty, this is the next best thing. Lucian can debuff the same stats as Lucas, but gives speed buffs, so just remove any issues and let Lucian handle debuffing. SC Jasmine and SC Lillie can buff, so Lucas can focus on Will-o-Wisp and DPS.

Team 3: Lucas, Dawn, Tech Ninetales Anti-Cobalion. Dawn’s a fantastic defensive counter to Cobalion, while Lucas is able to inflict Burn and deal tremendous sync damage to Cobalion at 3/5. Tech Ninetales sets Sun, allowing his sync nuke to go as hard as possible and avoid missing out on a KO and having Cobalion suddenly be immune to burn, ruining everything.

LYRA Lyra’s function is debuffing special defense with Fake Tears, buffing speed, debuffing speed with attacks, setting Rain, and blocking crits. At 3/5, she can also debuff attack.

Lyra feels like the favored child. Unlike the other two, Lyra’s full sync nuke benefits exist in two tiles rather than three, and the two are conveniently right next to each other. This allows Lyra to obtain max sync nuke potential, while also taking her second debuff and MPR. Which is good, because Lyra’s utility is really where she shines. Speed buffs are tremendous for gauge control, speed debuffs are helpful for the myriad Cakewalk commons, and attack debuffs are wildly helpful when your Rain-based passive blocks crits for the team. Lyra feels much more broadly helpful than Lucas, with less of an issue regarding gauges. And much like Lucas, Lyra shines with her specific set, having SS Kris to fully support her sync, while she supplies gauges that SS Kris can otherwise struggle to facilitate. SS Kris/Eevee Lyra are a delightful duo, capable of bringing pretty much anything in the third slot to success.

Move Level and EX Lyra really doesn’t need anything. 1/5 does fine, 2/5 gets max speed for a team if needed for Inertia builds, and 3/5 is her own damage and double debuff. On dedicated Rain teams, blocking crits means the attack debuffs are really valuable, so she’s a bit more relevant to hit 3/5, I think. Still not required. Shame about the no EX, though.

Team 1: Lyra, SS Kris, Palentine's Dawn/May Just get the protag girls in here. SS Kris is fantastic support in general, and provides Lyra with pretty much everything she could need. Palentine's Dawn gives the special defense and attack drops, complementing Lyra's needs and letting her focus on buffs to speed up the team. Alternatively, you can let May do the direct damage, and Lyra’s support with potential accuracy debuffs can make a dangerous core.

Team 2: Lyra, Elesa, Hop Lyra can function as a speed buffer for a unit who needs Ramming Speed/Inertia but has unreliable success with their own boosting, like Elesa. Hop can focus on offensive buffs, while Lyra provides the needed speed. The main issue is that I can’t think of a good Ramming Speed user who needs Rain, and most of these options I can think of are physical, not special, so they don’t work as well with Fake Tears.

Team 3: Lyra, Cyrus/Ghetis, BP Morty Lyra can also focus on being a special defense debuffer. In this case, I’m focusing on Cyrus or Ghetsis. Cyrus likes the debuffs and Rain from Lyra’s sync, while Ghetsis appreciates the speed buffs to keep Glaciate going, special defense drops for damage, and speed debuffs to facilitate his natural nuke. 3/5 Lyra’s attack debuffs are also the exact stat Ghetsis needed debuffed for his grid multiplier.

KRIS Kris’ function is paralysis, buffing crit, debuffing evasion, setting electric terrain, and preventing stat drops. At 3/5, she also debuffs special attack. Generally, Kris has good and bad tools.

Kris’ biggest hangup is the lack of an Electric Terrain setting support. While Lucas and Lyra have access to SS Morty and SS Kris respectively, Kris here has no one backing her up. This means she’s reliant on Volkner for longer battles, but can make use of C!Elesa for short-lived matches where she only needs one big sync nuke. And to be clear, Kris is built for sync. Kris’ sync nuke outdamages Ash by an order of magnitude, and is on par with Marnie despite not having EX. Kris’ damage is for real. And her grid doesn’t have much worth taking over it. Special Attack debuffs are only worth it if you’re going against Cresselia or Latias, otherwise you just go for sync damage. Her natural traits of buffing team crit and paralysis are really useful broadly, while evasion debuffing by default seems really niche, but allows her to facilitate certain plays that few others can. Kris is a really fun unit, capable of some surprising damage numbers, and really interesting team compositions.

Move Level and EX? Same as the others, really. The only major note is that Kris needs 2/5 to cap crit, and 3/5 provides Special Attack debuffs to make her an attempted Cresselia counter. This, combined with evasion debuffs being pretty meh, means Kris is probably the one you want to get higher move levels for most. So I would anticipate getting 5/5 Lucas before you have to spark her.

Team 1: Kris, C!Elesa/Lucian/Volkner, Roxanne/SC Lillie Classic Elesa is a great partner, setting up paralysis for Kris and debuffing foes across the board per hit. Roxanne has the remaining buff tools for Elesa's damage output, and gives nice gauge control, as well as defense buffs to round out Kris' special attack debuffing if desired. But realistically, I don't think I'd worry too much about that aspect. As an alternative, Lucian can debuff relevant stats that complement Kris’ debuffs, while SC Lillie can buff needed offenses. As an alternative, SC Lillie takes all buffing pressure off Kris, and Static Cling can paralyze foes that hit her. This would mean needing to take SST Red or Volkner, to supply the needed Electric Terrain for full sync power builds.

Team 2: Kris, Lisia/Darach, SC Jasmine/Piers Lisia is one of the few units who actually uses evasion debuffs, making Kris actually valuable for her. Darach is the other, who gets a lot more out of the debuffs, given he saves a lot of energy that can be sent to Standfast with Brave Bird. SC Jasmine is ideal for Lisia, while Piers is a good pick for Darach, capping crit and giving attack buffs, but also debuffing physical defense of the foe.

Team 3: Kris, Masked Royal, Lana Cresselia’s so hard to counter. Kris provides Masked Royal needed crit rate, while also debuffing special attack to keep the team alive. Evasion debuffs sadly don’t matter, because Darkest Lariat ignores boosted stats, including evasion. While damage reduction is in play, Masked Royal can power through with defense debuffs, due to his absurd sync damage. Lana provides the physical boost for Masked Royal, can block sure crit Icy Wind for the team, and has built-in Vigilance to prepare Status Immunity as needed. Now you may be wondering, why not let Kris do the nuking herself? It’s because Cresselia is immune to paralysis for no reason, so she loses a 50% grid node, and her innate 100% bonus. Thanks for that.

Team 4: Kris, Hilda/Serena, Support Weezing/Charizard Cobalion’s greatest weakness is paralysis, for some reason, and Kris is more than capable of providing that. More importantly, she can provide crit, which offers up solutions for a unit like Hilda, who is otherwise self-sufficient. With Weezing, you can buff up physical defense to stop hits. However, there’s another task worth talking about. Serena also relies on crit buffing, but notably, her Hypnosis is not particularly accurate. Kris can debuff evasion of the foe, meaning Kris actually makes Hypnosis effectively guaranteed to hit. This lets Serena offload her buffing to MU Charizard, who can cap special attack.

Team 5: Kris, Elio, Blue/Noland/Bugsy Elio is a fun partner to Eevee Kris. With evasion debuffs, Sing can be made, I believe, perfectly accurate over time. His trainer move can provide an okay amount of offensive potential, allowing units like Blue and Noland to cap needed offenses reliably. Kris just needs to spam Thundershock, and the evasion debuffs handle the rest. Do not use Discharge, it can mess with the sleep. Blue, Noland, and Bugsy are addressed because of Tapu Bulu and Azelf respectively; two of the most well-known sleep-weak Gauntlet stages. I give special note to Bugsy, because Bugsy realistically needs full offensive support...but not if Kris can give him crit rate. He can reasonably take Critical Might 1, steadily building up his attack stat by getting consistent crits on Fell Stinger, which is preferred to avoid disrupting the sleep chain.

Final Thoughts Having looked them over, I do admittedly like the three of them. They're far from exceptional, but teambuilding is really interesting with them. I think the tools they offer are fun, with Lucas and Lyra feeling specially designed for the current top meta performers of their archetype. Kris is the odd one out, due to lack of an Electric Terrain setting supporter, but that’s what Jasmine and Mega Ampharos are for, wink wonk. And being #3 best Electric sync damage in the game without even having your EX is quite the accomplishment.

KRIS: The daughter of a retired Pokemon ranger, and the sister to Solana, a pokemon ranger in the Fiore region. Because of this, she was raised with a deep care and respect for nature and wild pokemon. Cousins with Lyra, and is one of 3 grandchildren to the daycare couple in the Johto region. Could come off as a bit awkward to people and tends to be a wallflower in most social settings. Hardworking and determined, but her perfectionist tendencies could stress her out a bit. Has insane luck that she's oblivious to.

Childhood friends with Ethan, and gave him the nickname "Gold" because of an old inside joke. Both her and Ethan looked up to Professor Elm, and aspired to be great pokemon professors when they were older. Works hard to be where she is in battling, after growing up being known as weak and not capable of being a strong trainer. Studied a lot for pokemon battling, and sees it as a very technical thing compared to Silver and Gold. Determined not to let go of her childhood dream even after she became champion, she doubled down to become a pokemon professor. She defends her co- champion title at various points of the season, but is constantly worrying about if she's doing a good job at both dreams. Studies pokemon relationships and works at Professor Elm's lab with Ethan. The two of them also live down the street from the lab together.

THE LEGENDARY BEASTS: Saw Suicune briefly multiple times throughout her journey, but had the chance to battle her in the tin tower- to which after defeated, the water pokemon approached her and stood in front of her. Kris tried to leave, but Suicune blocked her path- shaking her head until Kris got the hint to throw a PokeBall. Battled Raikou randomly while doing some research. After she won the battle, Raikou refused to leave her side, even with his injuries, so Kris caught him just to heal him in the pokemon center. After his wounds were fixed, she tried to release him from the PokeBall, but the electric beast didn't want to leave. In a trip to the burned tower, she saw Entei standing alone, not even instigating a battle with her like the other two- even as she walked up closer to him. She released the other two from their Pokeballs to greet their old friend, and sat down next to them while they played for a while. Eventually, the three calmed down and Entei sat next to her until she offered a PokeBall his way.

ETHAN: Son of Professor Elm, Childhood friends with Kris. Social butterfly and makes friends wherever he goes. Followed in his dad's footsteps and became a pokemon professor- and studies breeding patterns and shiny Pokemon. Helps out at the daycare a lot, and always treats any pokemon with kindness and compassion. Has a knack for pokemon battling, and Kris comments he could easily take on the elite four if he really tried- which Gold always shrugs and tells her me might one day. Has also picked up his dad's habit of talking to Pokemon like human children- especially the baby Pokemon. Kris teases him endlessly for it but finds it very endearing. Spends most of his days out on the field when he can. Enjoys photography, and makes pokemon documentaries on the side.

HO-OH: Accompanied Kris and the beasts to the Tin Tower one day, and as the three beasts roamed outside of their Pokeballs, Ho-Oh appeared before them, shaking the tower and causing something to fall over and injure Raikou. Ethan made his way slowly to Raikou under the Ho-Oh's stare, but helped him out of the debris and healed his wounds. After Raikou was alright, the three beasts gathered around Kris, but Ho-Oh kept their attention on Ethan before flying away. A rainbow wing was left in its wake, which Ethan kept. He ended up visiting the tin tower with the feather many times over the next few months, all leading to encounters with Ho-Oh. Ethan talked to the bird like an old friend, never making moves to catch it, until Ho-Oh refused to let him leave one day while motioning to his bag. The ball only shook once after he threw the PokeBall.

SILVER: Lost contact with his father years ago, but has long since given up trying to find him again. In a relationship with Lyra, and gets teased endlessly about it from his best friends. Became an elite 4 member at Kris's persistence and actually enjoys the challenge. Isn't arrogant and rude as he was when he was a kid, but has retained his sharp tongue and low tolerance for bullshit. Mentored a trainer from Alola once, though Kris and Ethan never met his trainee.

LUGIA: Not long after Kris won the champion title, Silver challenged Bill's sisters for the tidal bell, and traveled to the Whirl islands to challenge the beast that was said to live there. Managed to weaken and catch Lugia, and forced Kris to a battle with the legendary. He ended up losing anyways, and ended up trying to release Lugia- apologizing for using it to gain satisfaction for his own goals. The legendary didn't leave however, and stayed next to him until Silver told Lugia it was time to go home.

LYRA: Kris's cousin who lives with their grandparents in the daycare. Works at the daycare and never cared much for battling. Her optimism and determined nature in contrast to Silver's pessimistic views or dragged on realistics is what Lyra claims makes them work so well. Friendly and lively but can be a bit of a chatterbox even though she may not mean to be.

CELEBI: Found her beat up red Celebi in the Ilex forest, but mistook it for a weird Oddish. Took it back to the daycare and nursed it back to health, and even after Celebi left after its rehabilitation, visited Lyra constantly. Lyra offered it a PokeBall- which it happily took- and (still thinking it was an Oddish) showed Ethan and Kris her new friend. Kris nearly fainted at the sight of the mythical Pokemon, and Ethan couldn't stop laughing at the fact Lyra kept referring to it as an Oddish.
