At the Trek con I attended this weekend, someone was selling a tote bag, lapel pins and stickers with a big picture of Rom that said "He was a union man" in all caps. Saw them all over the con. I thought you'd appreciate that. Best wishes regarding the strike!
Thanks for the support!
Here's me on the line carrying that as my sign.

How did we get to such a sad state with TV shows?
There is nothing that viewers can do that is good enough to help the TV shows that they like. Not every show is going to be a massive hit but apparently it needs to be in order to get more than 10-20 episodes.
Everything is getting cancelled and then no one wants to watch anything because they know what's going to happen. It's a horrible and disappointing cycle.

Congratulations to everyone on our show, STAR TREK: PRODIGY, for winning “Favorite Animated Series” in the 2023 TellTale TV Awards!
It was a very tight race this year with some stellar competition — The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, Harley Quinn, Bluey, and Owl House — but thanks to the fans, we prevailed. We are honored. 🖖🏼

I love watching 90s Star Trek. Of course I love the shows, but one of the things I love most is that there are seven seasons! I love that there are 25 episodes each season. I love that there is time for shenanigans and that the stakes don’t have to be sky high every episode. It’s really fun to watch characters goof around! Some of my favorite episodes of old shows like this are “filler” episodes.
I wish TV was still this way. It makes so sad that so many shows only have 8 episodes per season. I hate it that it’s rare for a show to make it past two seasons, even with a dedicated fan base. I’m really sad about Our Flag Means Death (and Shadow and Bone, and Star Trek: Prodigy—please watch it on Netflix so they will make more—, and Agent Carter even after all these years, the list goes on.) but I’m even more sad about how this represents a death for TV in so many ways. I’m sad that my favorite shows won’t last for years. I’m sad.

Finally, watched the last two episodes of Priodgy. I had been holding off because I truly didn't want it to end. I knew I was going to be sad to see it end. I wasn't ready for it to break my heart in such a beautiful way. I will hold spoilers because I'm sure I'm not the only one who waited to finish it. Just know it is going to not only pull your heart strings, it's going to jump all over them. I truly hope that they find a new home and get to bring us Season 2. I need it!!!

This is just your notification that I’m angry that Reboot was cancelled, and I’m angry Star Trek Prodigy was cancelled.
I feel you need this information.

Regarding the whole "Paramount permanently removes Prodigy from streaming" thing, am I wrong to think that smells like retaliation for the writers' strike (esp. re: residuals)?
PRODIGY isn't covered by the WGA. It's under a different union (The Animation Guild, part of IATSE), so, no, I don't see that as direct retaliation.
That said, the way the entertainment conglomerates have been "disappearing" shows is definitely a symptom of the new logic at these companies, which are increasingly driven by quarterly profits at the cost of trying to create, build, and maintain high-quality content and to the detriment of their creatives in all unions.

Also, today I began watching two new TV shows, Sister Boniface Mysteries, which is a spinoff to Father Brown and I can tell you I am utterly in love, and Beyond Paradise, which is a spinoff to Death in Paradise that's focused on my favorite Humphrey Goodman, and I also love it my god I'm so happy my shows are successful and having multiple season imma cry

*sniffle* well, that's that then. voyager has made it back to the alpha quadrant (albeit i'm not the biggest fan of the "timey whimey antics save the day" means utilized but i've seen similar plots play out far worse so i'll accept it with minimal brow furrowing), my mind & heart are full with a new sci-fi obsession, and while i know i said i'm diving into TNG asap, i do think my little ticker needs a minute to process & say goodbye to the star fleet captain who-- no matter how good picard/other captains i can't wait to meet are-- will now forever be My Captain(tm), and her intrepid crew (i'll even miss the doctor!) of the U.S.S. Voyager o7

I've binged almost all of star trek prodigy over the last 48 or so hours, and honestly it's really good! I feel like every post I saw about it previously was just either lukewarm about it or shitting on it. I think understanding that it's made for kids is necessary, so yes the dialogue and stories aren't going to be insanely complex, however it's still loads of fun. I'm having a great time with the characters, I'm invested in their story, and the use of previous star trek characters is extremely tasteful, and as far as I can tell they've gotten the og actors for every single one. Theres also still loads of sci fi silliness that i love, including emo hologram Janeway for the all of 3 minutes shes not her normal self. It's a neat show and I honestly think the animation style is really cool; it also gives them space to actually have like really buckwild aliens because it isn't live action. So you know what, folks should try watching star trek prodigy, it's been really enjoyable.

The way the Star Trek franchise continues to shoot itself in the foot is part of the charm at this point, honestly.
