Day Ten of @celerymoondesigns' #12DaysofChristmas is "Sport." Ballet may not be a sport, but dancers (of all kinds) are definitely athletes! Here's my #Degascosplay from this year's @gish (this is the GISH Item I'm proudest of from this year & possibly my favourite from all my years participating so far)! 💖🕊🎀::insert pointe shoe emoji here because I don't have a new enough iOS:: * * Item 207 from this summer's #GISH was ‪(paraphrased) "We miss museums. Cosplay as your favorite character in your favorite work of art (painting or sculpture) doing something mundane or majestic." My actual favourite "character from a painting" would be Waterhouse's Lady of Shalott or Miranda, but I didn't choose either of them because I already used my Lady of Shalott dress for the "cosplay as a unicorn" item in one of the earlier mini-GISH Hunts this year & I don't have a blue dress to be Miranda (also, both would require reddish wigs). * * Therefore, I present to you not a cosplay of a specific painting, but an approximation of a Degas ballerina at a tea party. (My thought process was something like "I have old ballet costumes & black ribbon!!" Also, I seem to always make a GISH item into a tea party.) Swipe on IG for an actual edit! I threw on the Canvas & GIMPressionist filters in the GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP). 💖🕊🎀‬ (I got to share this item in the GISH Closing Ceremonies & @mishacollins said really nice things about it?! It’s been months & I still can’t believe that happened?) * * {Costume is from junior or senior year ballet class (I'm pretty sure we did a piece from "La Sylphide"?); floof underneath provided by both my @pinupgirlclothing petticoat & crinoline from @sockdreams (I think by @legavenue?); pointe shoes by @blochdanceusa (Yes, I'm cheating a bit by leaning against the table. It took a while before we got a snap I liked & I haven't had a pointe class in three or four years. Day Twelve of @celerymoondesigns’ #12DaysofCosmas “Nature.” Here is my very rough test of a #Minettecosplay from @strangelykatie’s wonderfully lovely graphic novel series, @teadragonsociety! 💖☕️🐉🌸🌿 {Yes, this is the other cosplay test I mentioned—& cryptically described with emojis … four months ago. ::facepalms:: Swipe on IG for a side-by-side of the panel I’m trying to recreate.} I’d love to wear Minette to a comic con sometime (she’d actually be my first cosplay from a comic book/graphic novel!) but I need to get her animal-like elements first … & an actual Chamomile plushie!). I’d highly recommend the series if you enjoy the following things: gentle fantasy, LGBTQIA+ & ability-diverse characters, tea, dragons, & soft illustrations. Attempting @celerymoondesigns' #12DaysofCosmas (which ran for the first twelve days of December) again this year! Once again, I’m starting much later, haha. 💖🎄 I was successful at completing the entire set of prompts last year & I am going to try to do this thing again! Like last year, I didn't attend any conventions (except for online ones) & I only did a few cosplay tests/closet cosplays—but I am going to try to complete the posts with pictures I haven't posted before (or at least not too many times)! Day Eleven of @celerymoondesigns' #12DaysofCosmas is "Castles." I probably should have used my Sophie Hatter cosplay for this prompt, but I couldn't think of anything else to use for "Ring." * * For lack of an actual cosplay to fill this prompt, here are two royal #futurecosplayplans! (Pictures are from screencap sites.) I found @dreamworksshera this spring & #QueenAngella was immediately one of my favourite characters. I'm not overly fond of her usual leotard-&-leggings-esque outfit, though, so I was very excited to see the outfit pictured here from the "Portal" episode. (Sort of a pencil skirt-ish dress thing & a cape-y overskirt thing? YES. And you should all know by now how I feel about WINGS.) 💖 * * If I had to choose a favourite movie, it would probably be #PrincessBride. Yes, Buttercup's riding dress is the most iconic & recognisable, but I really love her more "princessy" gowns. (I'm not sure which one I would actually make, as I quite like her blue one with the fun sleeves.) 👑 * * And since these are all "Ooh, this would be fun to cosplay!" ideas & not actual cosplay plans, here are a few other royals I'd like to cosplay: Wonder Woman's "Diana Prince" tweed outfit from the first movie (because I don't make armour & that outfit is gorgeous anyway--ice cream would definitely be procured whilst wearing!); Padme's picnic gown from Attack of the Clones (my mum actually made me a less elaborate version for Halloween when I was in HS--I wonder if we still have the pattern?); and Rapunzel from Tangled (I don't feel that I'm a good enough actress to cosplay a Disney Princess). * * & three royal dream cosplays that will probably never happen (unless I get MUCH better at sewing or have magical forest creature friends help): the White Queen from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, Ella's ballgown from the live-action Cinderella, & Sarah's Labyrinth ballgown (I've also toyed with the idea of Queen of the Labyrinth Sarah, but don't have a cosplay concept). 👗 * * #adventuresincosplay #SheRaandthePrincessesofPower #cosplay #cosplaylife #TwelveDaysofCosmas #StarlightLilyCosplay https://www.instagram.com/p/CJdBaBGD7kE/?igshid=1auddjza1v1rr

As is often the case with this sort of thing, I found out about @celerymoondesigns' #12DaysofCosmas (which ran for the first twelve days of December) a few days ago. (Also, I'm usually terrible at this type of challenge because I don't really post regularly, so I'll do the first few days & then forget about it.) * * I am going to try to do this thing, though! I didn't see the original post (or rules if there are any), so I hope it's okay that I'm using picture that were *not* taken this year--none of my conventions happened this year (my first one is usually in May/June) so the only cosplay pictures I have from this year are a few from @Gish items, some cosplay test/closet cosplay pictures, & a few from online stay-at-home conventions. Day Ten of @celerymoondesigns’ #12DaysofCosmas is “Ghost.” This may look like an attempt at Edwardian Femme Aziraphale, but this is actually a very rough test of a #ChristineDaaécosplay from the #PhantomoftheOpera1990 miniseries (& by extrapolation, the #YestonandKopitPhantom)! 💖🎼🎭🌹🎻 Why did I use this for the the “Ghost” prompt? Because while miniseries/Y&K Erik never claims to be the Angel of Music there are still Opera Ghost shenanigans! (Yes, this is one of the cosplay tests I mentioned—& cryptically described with emojis … four months ago. ::facepalms:: The other cosplay will be posted for Day Twelve!) Day Five of @celerymoondesigns’ #12DaysofCosmas is “Light.” This seemed like the perfect prompt for a #ChristineDaaécosplay but I didn’t want to repost my dressing gown closet cosplay yet again, so here is #holidayChristine (a full row, even)! 💖🎼🎭🌹🎻🎄 This is a true closet cosplay as I would actually wear this outfit as myself—I feel rather guilty about even calling this a cosplay as the only thing that really makes it Christine instead of me is that my hair is down? {Also, I need to figure out layering (my house is very cold) so I can actually wear flowy skirts as loungewear instead of always wearing pyjama pants in the evenings. Maybe that should be one of my goals for 2022: trying to actually dress #cottagecore instead of just following many accounts & daydreaming over the aesthetic?} To make this vaguely more of a cosplay post, speculation time!
