This would be an AU where Dream plans for retirement, making secret plans to hand over his duty to a successor and disappear like Destruction. Only he will disappear with Hob, who has centuries of experience remaking himself, because Hob is the reason he is thinking of changing and carrying on instead of. Well. Not. Will his plans be successful? Is the future where he can run away with Hob just a hopeless fantasy? Only time will tell, but the thought consumes him.

This could go either soft and sweet, in keeping with the musical tone of the song, or angsty and inexorable, more in keeping with the canon.

Steph I was just listening to another poets of the fall song and I realized it was a good johnlock song, I just don't realize cause it's from JOHNS point of view and not Sherlocks like I normally tend to find. They all disappeared with the fall of the monarchy, but some artifacts of their time still exist. Most are in museums now, but at some point in time, one of my ancestors managed to find or buy this, and has been passing it down ever since.  ❞

He peeled back the coverings, pulling it away to reveal a sword cradled in his arms. It was heavy, excellently made, and resting carefully inside of a brass scabbard decked out with some of the most intricate latticework Leon had ever seen. The blade itself was heavily bejeweled, obviously having been designed more with aesthetics in mind rather than battle practicality, but the designer had been careful to make it eye-catching instead of merely gaudy. It was a status symbol, an item that had been given to only the most exceptional of Galarian fighters, and in its time had probably been more coveted than the region’s throne.

The final touch was the ribbon tumbling down from the hilt of the sword, its colour stained a sunny yellow. Perhaps it had meant something in particular, or perhaps it had been chosen because the designer just liked yellow. Leon didn’t know. The centuries had done nothing to fade its colour, a real testament to whatever had been used back then to make the colour, and it had even managed to remain free of tears or fraying.

It really was in miraculous condition, for such an ancient piece of history.

My one and only ship for Leon is Leon/Dani, who I write with the lovely @xfaucheuse​! The two of them have inspired so much growth and happiness in each other, and I truly can’t envision what my Leon would look like if I didn’t have such a wonderful friend and OC to help flesh out his postgame story. She is the entire reason behind his Kalos move!

The ship itself came about as the result of a Discord discussion. Though I already knew Leon would have had no prior relationships (it just wasn’t realistic, given his constant busy schedule and overwhelming level of fame), meeting Dani really made him feel seen for the first time in his life. She could understand his stresses and social pressures, she could look at him and see Leon, rather than Galar’s beloved, infallible Champion, and she reignited his love for battling in a way no one else had been able to.

From there, the details kinda wrote themselves as we slotted the timeline alongside the canon events of SwSh. They met shortly before the events of the game, as part of a Mega vs. Gigantamax exhibition match (the same match that made Galarian history by breaking the three thousand year Mega Evo ban), and were a fully established couple by the time the Eternatus mess rolled around.

In fact, as far as my general blog canon goes, it’s actually because of Dani that he made it out of there alive. Her Aegislash blocked a second attack that otherwise would have been fatal had it hit the already-wounded Leon.

can’t stress enough how big of an ‘oh’ moment being beaten by dani was, back in their private rillaboom vs. volcarona battle

leon was already in love with her, but there’s something about having his own passion for battling be solely reignited by her that really made his heart flutter. he’d spent ten years stuck in stagnation, every opponent slowly adding to his exhaustion and chipping a little more enthusiasm away, and he’d faced all sorts of people without ever needing to drop his usual practiced performance

he played whatever part was needed to keep the crowd engaged, would always be sure to compliment his foes post-battle and comment on what a great time it’d been, but those were obligations. he wasn’t taking any personal joy from those fights

and yet with dani, he found himself actually having fun. their battle was one he could really devote himself to, could let himself get lost in the excitement and leave the showmanship behind, and I can’t even begin to describe how loved that made him feel. it wasn’t anything deliberate they’d done - just knowing he was battling her, that this match would never be seen or known about by anyone else until they decided to change that... it was the kind of intimacy he really resonated with
