Thoughts on TBB 3x9: The Harbinger
SPOILERS BELOW THE CUT
Genuinely thought Cross was going fishing for a sec
Wrecker is getting so comfortable with Cross again 🥺
Batcher always knows when something is up. We should listen to the hound
WHAT DID I SAY?! LISTEN TO THE HOUND!
DON'T GO CLOSER TO THE SHIP WTF
VENTRESS!!!
Omega your lying isn't the most convincing thing...
OMEGA BE CAREFUL STOP SPILLING INFO 😭
Pffft cheerleader Wrecker!
Had a feeling that Jennifer's "weeping" tweet hasn't about crying and was maybe about some sort of tree. It appears I was right. CAN'T MAKE ME PANIC THAT EASILY, JEN
THIS COMBAT IS AWESOME 🔥
THE BATCH THEME!!! ❤️
Hunter going for the Dad™️ arms resting on knees position
Where's Echo when you need him? We need someone to manage the chaos
"How does she know we're watching?" The force, Wrecker. The force
This music is pretty 🥰
Okay maybe we got a bit too carried away with connecting with nature
The creature's kinda cute ngl
This is starting to feel like The Mandlorian 😭
I thought this episode was really fun! I'm trying to work out how much it actually advances the plot in any way but I'm going to wait 'til the end of the season to work that out. Ventress is probably going to come back and the idea of Omega needing training is likely to be relevant again. It was a fun episode but rn feels like it's dropping expositiony stuff we already know. At the same time it's stuff the characters don't know so it has it's relevance.
Annoyed that Echo has just been out to the wayside this season. We've only got 6 episodes left and he's had a significant appearance in one of the 9 that we've had so far. I really liked this episode but as an Echo fan I've been feeling kinda stranded this season. 😕

My memory is terrible so I wanted to do a breakdown of my stuff every once in a while. Might be monthly, might be whenever I feel like it.
BL - Currently Watching
7 Days Before Valentine [11/12] - Unlike some other shows, this one is actually getting better towards the end. I appreciate that Sunshine did some self reflection and became a better human being and I really enjoy the visuals here. Also, 7 days before valentine we will watch the finale, so that's neat.
Cherry Magic Th [7/12]– I like what the thai version is doing with the source material, I think they are being really smart and I'm so happy I got to watch the shopping date and the helicopter ride that were missing from the japanese live action.
Cherry Magic Anime [4/12]– I'm enjoying all the parallels way too much. Part of me wishes that it had stayed closer to the manga but since I get that also from Thailand, I can't complain.
Cooking Crush [9/12]– My expectations weren’t as low as maybe other people because I'm a OffGun fan but I am enjoying this show way more than I thought. It’s so refreshing to see good communication and well rounded characters that are given the space to work stuff out and be honest with each other. I feel for Samsee, cause, been there.
Dead Friend Forever [6/12]– this show continues to surprise me every week. I’m a big horror and slasher fan so for the premise alone I was gonna watch it. But I’m liking the way they chose to structure this story, moving from the slasher bit to the past at that moment was really smart. The visuals are so strong in this and I’m enjoying the communal murdering impulses towards the original friend group.
Ossan's Love Returns [3/12] - It’s chaos but the kind that only Japan can get away with for me. That season opener alone would’ve made me stop watching if it wasn’t for that. But the thing about these characters for me is that they get to be this ridiculous because it’s all grounded in such heart and kindness towards each other. It's a balancing act that only Japan can deliver at this level.
Playboyy [10/14] – I applaud the effort to make something new and out of the bl box, I think the show is trying to talk about interesting things and there are moments where the visuals are very strong. However, the acting is the weakest part of the whole thing and so I cannot connect to the characters, which leaves the whole experience kinda empty for me.
Although I Love You, and You? [3/10]- Japan my beloved. What’s there to say? Sakae is my new favourite boy and I’m really enjoying these two bridging the gap in their personalities.
The Sign [10/12]– Phaya and Tharn are delightful. Yai is the bestest boy ever. But there’s too many loose threads considering we only have 2 episodes left. There’s still to much going on and the investigation part of it just seems too disconnected for me to care. I really hope they're not counting on a special or a second season to wrap this up.
BL - Finished
Last Twilight – No need to repeat myself. here and here
Love for Love's Sake - What a wonderful surprise this was. Yeo Woon is one of the most adorable characters of all time and I seriously cannot handle it. From the beginning there was always a cloud over the whole story and I think in the end it all came together really well, to give us a happy ending that feels earned. Also really appreciated the way the story dealt with the triangle. Most of the time I hate them with a passion so I was really happy that Sang Won didn't just disappear and stayed in the group and kept teasing Yeo Woon. And now I'm just suppose to move on?
Night Dream – I liked the beginning a lot, but, as it’s becoming increasingly frequent, it dipped as it approached the end and although I liked how it finished I wasn’t a fan of the path to get there. Time skip once again not used well.
Sahara Sensei to Toki-kun - I have not seen the finale yet but I didn't want to wait so I might update this post when I watch it. However, Toki is my favourite boy, and I just want him to be happy.
VIP Only – Cute but ultimately forgettable.

So this month I started my journey into older jbl stuff in order to have a bigger understanding of the landscape and what came before. With the help of the amazing @twig-tea I've started this journey with 2 films: Ai no Kotodama (2008) - Such a wonderful way to start this adventure. Really enjoyed this film. Without spoiling it, I understand that the beginning of the film might turn some people off of it but I think it's actually really smart and purposeful. I would definitely recommend it.
No Touching At All (2014) - Also really enjoyed this one. The direction is really interesting I thought. I feel it's all very intentional and it reflects very well the characters state of mind.
And because Cherry Magic opened the anime gates I also watched:
Tumblr media
Given (2019) - This is SO GOOD. This show rewired my brain. Just now I was listening to THE SONG and I got emotional again. Every once in a while I enter this mindset where I feel like nothing that I watch can surprise me anymore. Then I watched this show. My thoughts after watching can be found here.
Not BL - Watched this month
Tumblr media
The Killing Vote Taxi Driver 2 Vigilante Fermat no Ryori
Well, that's it I guess. Now I have to go and make some Love for Love's Sake gifs because I just can't move on and need to live there a little longer. Speaking of gifs, I'm always happy to take gif requests so let me know.

Hii dear friend, It's me again ♥️😊
I had a new idea about our lovely boys from Boku no Hero.
What do you think about stargazing with them? It's kinda sweet, right? With some comfort and cuddles
♥️♥️
I was thinking on Hawks, Bakugou,Dabi and Kiri
♥️♥️♥️ Thank you
MHA Boys X Reader | Stargazing Date ♥️
Warning: Some Spoilers, You're good if you've seen the latest episodes though. A/N: I know this is probably way too late but I'm trying to balance the new work with the old requests. I hope you like it! <3
Hawks
Tumblr media
It is obvious that this guy will know the best location in the town for stargazing.
I can see him going there by himself when he just wants to quiet his mind from all the thoughts of the hero commission or paparazzi or his work.
The place is not accessible to everyone since it is the highest point of a private building so only he or someone who has a flying quirk can get there.
He always thought that he will keep this place his little secret so that when things are bad, he has one place where he can get away from everyone.
NOW he has you. Naturally, he has the urge to show this place off to you. One day you get a random text from him. "I was wondering if your highness would like to go on a date with a peasant like me?" Obviously, you giggled to yourself and said yes. The fact that even now, he always finds new ways to ask you out makes your heart flutter.
He asked you to meet at your balcony at 6. These dates are the best because you know that he'll fly you both to the date with you in his arms which is one of the best feelings knowing that you are completely safe and happy right now, quite literally flying in the clouds and no one can disturb that.
"Oooh Y/N close your eyes CLOSE YOUR EYES," he said excitingly and you obliged when he asked you to open them, it was one of the prettiest sunsets you have ever seen in your entire life.
Even for him, this was pretty and he fly high every day. You both just sat there for a couple of minutes without saying anything and admiring the view.
You both ended up staying there for the entire night stargazing and had dinner on that rooftop.
His arms were wrapped around you the entire time as your creased his forearms with your hands. You both loved doing this. This was your way of saying "I'm here".
Bakugou
Tumblr media
Bakugo is not the type of guy to plan anything cute because HE HAD the idea. But that doesn't mean that he won't seek them from somewhere else heh.
He and the gang were hanging out when Kaminari was talking about this girl who he is taking out and he was asking for ideas for a date. Everyone was giving ideas as Katsuki was silently taking notes of them and one that struck him the most was Stargazing.
He had his eye on you and knew how much you loved the sky in general. He thought to himself that when or IF he ever took you out on a date it has to be a stargazing one. And he went ahead making scenarios about your date and ignoring others.
And the time has finally come when he is actually taking you out. He knew JUST what to do. He asked you to meet at the dorm's back gate. He took you to the storage building that was at the back and entered through a secret door that you never knew even existed.
It felt so scary to do this because it was UA's property and was off-limits for students but as soon as you two reached the top all the worry washed away. You could see the entire city. UA was on top of a hill and this building was quite high so that gave you an even better view.
You two just talked for hours and THAT is when you realized that Kutsuki can be very gentle when there aren't things or people to trigger him. The entire time he was smiling and laughing with you.
It might sound mushy but you loved seeing him more than the night sky and the lit-up city. His smile was just so bright, gentle, and genuine because he wasn't someone who would do something for the sake of doing it.
So you knew he was happy when he was smiling, the cutest thing was that out of habit he'd take a sip from his water bottle and would pass it over to you too and make sure that you were hydrated too.
When you two came down the building, he gave you his hand everywhere there was a huge step. He knew you were more than capable of taking care of yourself but still couldn't help it.
"Care to explain?" Kaminari said the next day with a smile as he showed you two a picture of you, sitting with your head on his shoulder and hugging his arm closely.
He didn't tell anyone about your date you figured and laughed wholeheartedly when Katsuki was at Kaminari's throat WHILE AT THE SAME time embarrassed and had a slight blush on his face.
"What have you done to him" Kirishima said laughing as he caught Katsuki's blush too.
Dabi
Tumblr media
You both came back from a long mission and wanted to see each other as soon as you can because just being in each other's company was enough for you two to get through the day.
You two were not dating officially because of the uncertain path of life that you both had chosen. You were a rogue hero and he was... well DABI.
You two didn't want to put a label on it but LOVED to spend time together as much as you could. You heard that he was back and he did that too about you. Rooftop was a secret spot for you two since the staircase led only from Dabi's room's balcony. And who'd dare to disturb him?
"Rooftop, whenever you get time." you texted him. You got a reply with a picture of him already there waiting for you.
As you climbed up the stairs you could see him sitting limping and not moving at all. You got worried that he might have hurt himself again but to your relief, it wasn't the case.
As you approached him, busy analyzing if there were any burn marks on his body he hugged you, tightly. This has never happened before. At max, he pats you on your head. But he hugged you and said softly, "Just stay"
You obliged. You two stargazed the entire night and shared your pasts brutally honestly. He told you that he saw Shoto today. He thought that when he will see his brother after so long he MIGHT just feel something. Bits of love would have also been good. But all he felt was hatred.
You were the only one keeping him sane and making him feel SOME feelings.
That explained the hug.
Kiri
Tumblr media
Kiri is a HUGE planner let's be honest. He plans most of the things that you two do. It's not like he likes to have control over things, he just loves to do them for you and absolutely loves to see your reactions.
And most of the time they go as planned buuut this time nothing was going as planned.
He decided this time to go for a sunset date to this park that had one of the best views of all with loads of flowers. Since villain activities have been on a rise recently security has been so tight.
So students don't usually get permission to go out. And he somehow convinced Aizawa to sign the pass for you two.
And the only problem was that nothing went as he intended it to and after so many tried to make the best out of it things were not going well.
By the time you two came back to UA his usual high spirits were so low that you felt bad for him. After you two went back to your rooms you decided to do something for him.
With a little help from the gang, you set up a cute setup on the rooftop. By the time he came out of the shower, you were all done.
"Meet me at the rooftop" you texted him and as soon as he saw it, everyone went back to their rooms wishing you the best of luck.
When he saw the cute mat with the candles lit and the leftover food that you two never got to eat from the earlier plans all lay beautifully. You could see how emotional he was all of a sudden when he hugged you so tightly.
"Sorry I ruined our day," he said nuzzling into your neck as he hugged you.
"Kiri how could you even say that! It is the efforts that matter to me my love" you said taking his face in your hands. You could see how drained he was.
You two had dinner there while watching a movie and stargazing the entire night. You both did all that he planned for and... ahem more.

Tumblr media
You felt the tension in the air since leaving Pittsburgh, the fear of change building in your chest with each passing second, you knew something was wrong and what frustrated you was that no one seemed to let that elephant out of the room and be honest with each other.
You saw Camila frustrated since you left your hometown, Karen looked airy and Eddie was devastated since the show. Something was stirring in your family and you could feel that roller coaster of emotions was about to go downhill, and breakdown.
You arrived in Chicago tired but excited for that show that would mark something so great in your careers, and despite the fear of chaos that surrounded your band and your friends every time you looked at your boyfriend a peace embraced your heart.
Warren Rojas was the happiest man you knew, a lover of life, a person who knew how to live and enjoy all the happiness that life has to offer, and that was one of the points that made you fall in love so deeply for him. Since you first met in Pittsburgh, he has charmed you in every way and you felt so lucky to be the woman he called girlfriend, to be by his side.
You knew he was a strong man, and that he would always find something to put a smile on his face and be happy in that moment, this is something that helped you a lot as the band grew. It was very difficult for you at the beginning with all the chauvinism in the industry and the way you were treated like nothing, Rojas was always there by your side to reassure you how amazing you were and how proud he was of you. That smile made your days better and you would always be thankful for him.
You enter the hotel room followed by the drummer, he leaves your bags on the floor and you throw yourself on the bed with a sigh, Warren approaches you with a smile on his face laying on top of you and kissing you gently. You bring your hands to his cheek, kissing him back and then moving your hands to his hair. He smiles after the kiss, opening his eyes to meet your thoughtful features.
"Is everything alright sunshine?" He asks, lying down beside you and lacing his fingers through yours.
"Yeah, I'm just thinking." You move closer to him, taking comfort in your boyfriend's comfortable embrace.
"Wanna talk about it?" He asks, eyes fixed on the ceiling while he feels you close.
"Don't worry, pretty boy, it's nothing." You lie, smiling at him. You didn't want to make him worried. "I'm just feeling something weird, you know? Out of place..."
Warren smiles and runs his hand through your hair, trying to soothe your troubled thoughts. "Hey, I know something's been off lately with the band, but we'll figure it out," he says reassuringly.
You give him a small smile, grateful for his comforting words, but deep down, you know that this time it's different. You can't shake off the feeling of tension and unease that's been building up since leaving Pittsburgh. You shift closer to Warren, seeking his warmth and comfort.
He notices your apprehension and wraps his arms around you, holding you close. "Is it about Eddie? I know Billy can be a real jerk sometimes, but we've all got each other's back."
You nod, feeling a little calmer with Warren's words, but you can't help but remember how Billy took away Eddie's moment on stage at their hometown show, leaving him feeling used and betrayed. Eddie had always looked up to Billy and admired him, but it was clear that their relationship was toxic and that Eddie was at his edge.
"Yeah, it's also about Eddie," you admit softly. "Billy's been treating him like crap, and it's taking a toll on him, it's not fair to him. And another thing my love, why did Billy have to do this? You know, he didn't need to take his moment like that"
Warren's expression softens as he listens, and he nods thoughtfully. "I know what you mean," he says with a sympathetic smile. "But I also know that we're a family, and families have their ups and downs. Plus, Eddie's always been a little sensitive, you know? He takes things to heart sometimes, especially when it comes to Billy."
"And we should do something about it, shouldn't we?" You ask, feeling a tightness in your chest.
"I'll talk to him, okay?" Warren says between kisses on your head. "Don't worry, sunshine."
...
You've had a long day leading up to the show, and you're feeling frustrated with everything that's been happening. You've been thinking a lot about Camila, you knew your best friend and you knew that something's off with her. So, you decide to go to Billy's room to look for her, Camila always held a lot to herself and as her best friend you had to reassure her that you're always there for her.
As you stop in front of the door and prepare to knock, you hear voices coming from inside. You don't take long to recognize them, It's Eddie and Billy, and they're arguing. Your heart sinks as you listen to their heated conversation, and then you hear Eddie say those fateful words, "I figured I should handle this like a man. I'm quitting the band."
You freeze, unable to move or even breathe. Your mind races as you try to process what you just heard. Eddie, quitting the band? It's unthinkable! You know how much Warren cared about having his best friend by his side accomplishing this dream, and you can't bear the thought of how devastated he would be if Eddie were to quit. You knew he was strong, but that was going to knock him out a lot, and just thinking about it made your heart sink.
You decide to go back to your room, calling Camila as soon as you got there, she didn't answer at all which worried you a lot, frustration began to consume you as the hours went by. Soundcheck time got closer and closer and you felt everything falling apart as you entered the stadium by your boyfriend's side. This would be an endgame.
Graham and Karen never looked at each other which was rare, Eddie had a black eye that seemed to get bigger with every song they rehearsed and no Billy and Daisy showed up.
You drop your bass, taking a seat next to Warren's drums he winks at you and you take this opportunity to approach him. "Baby, go talk to him."
Rojas nods, heading towards the blonde. You knew your boyfriend and you knew that what he said was going to be in a direct and calm way, but you were afraid of how Roundtree would respond to that.
You decide to leave them alone, walking towards Karen who looked upset as she watched the piano. She didn't seem to want much conversation so you just sat next to her and hugged her, after a while keeping the blonde company, you see your boyfriend leaving and you see something unusual in his face, he was pissed.
You leave a kiss on Karen's forehead and go towards him, despite calling him several times he wouldn't turn to you.
"Hey pretty boy, how was it?" You ask when you reach him, trying to catch a breath.
"He's an asshole." Warren says running his hands through his hair, trying to calm down."I can't understand how he can't see what we're living here sunshine."
You move closer to him, wrapping your arms around his neck. "Tell me my love, what did he tell you?"
"He says that he's looking more out of life than me." Rojas leans his forehead against yours, and you start stroking the locks of his hair. "Can you believe that my sun? The guy is a fucking rockstar and it isn't enough for him."
"Oh my love, I understand your frustration." You say kissing his cheek, making him smile. "But sometimes people aren't as wonderful as you are and they can't see the beauty in life."
"You think I'm wonderful, uh?" Warren says between kisses on your lips, you just nod smiling. "You are my salvation, my sunshine."
...
As you step onto the stage, you feel a mix of emotions. On one hand, you're excited to perform in front of a crowd again, but on the other, you can't shake off the feeling that this might be the last time you'll do it with this band. You glance over at Eddie and Warren, who are setting up their instruments, and you can see the same sentiment in their eyes.
Once the show starts, you all play as if it's just another gig, but the atmosphere in the room is heavy. The audience is cheering and singing along to every song, but you can sense that they too feel the weight of this being the end. You play through the set, and even though you know the songs by heart, tonight they feel different. They feel like a goodbye letter to the fans who have supported you all this time. The end of a cycle, the last day together doing what they've always dreamed of since they were little in Pittsburgh.
When you get to "Honeycomb," you see Billy's face change. He abruptly stops playing and runs off the stage, leaving you and the others to finish the song without him. You know where he's gone - he's chasing after Camila, you can't help but cry you were losing your family. You also knew that this is his way of saying that he's done, that he's leaving the band.
You finish the show, but it feels bittersweet. The applause is loud, and people are asking for an encore, but you know it's not going to happen. You look over at Eddie, and their faces mirror your own. The three of you exchange a sad nod, and you all walk offstage, knowing that this is the last time you'll be performing together.
The next morning, the band gathered to leave for their next destination, but Daisy was nowhere to be found. Panic started to set in as time ticked by and they still couldn't locate her. Then, to make matters worse, Billy was also missing. You felt a sinking feeling in your chest as you watched the minutes turn into hours without any sign of either of them.
Warren tried to comfort you by squeezing your hand, but you could see the worry etched on his face. What had happened to Daisy and Billy? Why did they disappear like this?
But then, as if to add insult to injury, Eddie suddenly appears with his bags, getting into a taxi without so much as a word to anyone. You feel Warren's grip on your hand loosen, and when you turn to look at him, his eyes are filled with hurt, betrayal and tears. This is the last straw, and it's clear that the bond between him and Eddie has been irreparably broken.
The tour is canceled, and you both return to your home in LA in silence. Nothing you do or say can cheer Warren up, and it breaks your heart to see him like this. He spends the entire journey lost in thought, and you know that this experience has changed him.
When the moonlight completely fills the sky you were in the kitchen while Rojas was still silent on your couch, your chest tightens when you see the sad expression on your beloved's face. You drop everything you were doing in the kitchen and approach him and kneel down in front of him.
"Hey, pretty boy talk to me." You say, stroking his knee. "I know you're not okay, you don't have to hide it from me."
"It's just that... All our friends are splitting up." Rojas's choked voice made your heart break. "I'd die if that were us sunshine, I can't afford to lose you."
"Oh, my love." You move to sit on the sofa, pushing his curls away from his face to watch his eyes closely. "I don't know why you care if I stay or leave if you know I'll always be here by your side."
Warren brings his hands to your waist, pulling you closer to him. He doesn't say anything, he just watches you and you can see the fear in his eyes.
"I'm your wife Warren, I hope you know I won't give up on you." You say to then kiss him calmly, tenderly and conveying all the love you felt for him, he holds you closer feeling safe in you.
"Wife, uh?" He whispers after the kiss, you pat his chest hiding your face in the crook of his neck in embarrassment. "Hey, don't hide sunshine." He pulls your face away from his chest to look into your eyes.
"I said too much, forget what I it." You say, shaking your head.
Warren pulls back slightly, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. "Well, if you've already called yourself my wife, I guess I have no choice but to make it official," he says, his eyes twinkling.
You chuckle at his sudden change in tone. "Oh really? And how do you plan to do that?" you ask, pretending to be skeptical.
Warren looks around the room, searching for inspiration. Suddenly, his eyes land on a half-eaten slice of pizza on the coffee table.
"I know!" he exclaims, grabbing the pizza and holding it up. "Will you do me the honor of sharing this slice of pizza with me... as my wife?"
You can't help but burst out laughing at his ridiculous proposal, but then you realize he's serious. His eyes meet yours and you can see the love and sincerity in them.
"Yes, Warren. I will share this pizza with you... and be your wife," you say with a smile.
Warren grins back at you, feeling overjoyed. "Then it's settled. You're mine forever," he says, pulling you close for another kiss.
...

"Comfort Show"
Steven Grant x Reader
Summary: Steven has tocomfort you after your comfort show.
Warnings: *SPOILERS FOR THE LAST FEW EPISODES OF THIS IS US!!!* Dont read if you havn't seen the last 3 episodes but want to!!! Mentions of tv show character deaths. Crying but not actually sad, just sad over a show.
A/n: Inspired by the time I walked out of my room after an episode of This Is Us, bawling my eyes out to find my mommy is the living room, looking at me like :0 she asked if it was one of my shows or if something really happened. I said it was just a show and she let me explain the last 6 or however many seasons of this show lolololol
*****************
You heard the sound of the key turning in the apartment, and knew Steven would be in shortly and very distressed at your crying, but you couldn’t help yourself, you continued sobbing uncontrollably with hands over your eyes on the couch as the Hulu home screen advertised other options to quell you.
“Hello love!” A cheery Steven walked in the door, face undoubtedly falling as he took in your crying. “Oh dear, oh no, what is it now?” He said, setting the groceries down on the counter and he rushed to you, wrapped up in a blanket on the couch. “What’s happened?” Gently, Steven takes your hands to reveal your puffy red eyes and blotchy face, you’d been crying for a little while now.
You look at his worried face and feel a little foolish, and laugh a bit. “It’s not a big-”
“No, no don’t do that, you don’t have to mitigate it”
You laugh again, you did have a tendency to act like huge things were no big deal, or invalidate your feelings; this was not one of those times. “No, no, baby it’s actually so stupid” But you keep crying. “I watched more of This is Us”
Visibly, Steven relaxed, letting go of your hand in favor of placing it over his heart, sighing in relief as sat back on the couch. “Oh god love, darling you startled me.”
You feel bad, going to embrace Steven as he gained his breath again. “I’m sorry Steven” You said sincerely, and when Steven looked at you, it was once again with concern.
“Sweetheart, you look terribly upset still, I thought you agreed not to watch it until one of us were here, you knew damn well this was going to happen!” Steven chastised, but there was no real malice in his voice.
You sniffle, tears welling up again. “I thought she’d die in the last episode, I was going to wait for you to watch that, but they did it early!” You break down crying, Steven taking you into his arms.
“God, no wonder you’re a mess!” Steven didn’t watch the show avidly, but he’d sit in on episodes here and there, and listened intently as you explained things from your show.
You mumbled something into his chest he couldn’t hear. “What’s that, lovely?”
Lifting your head off his chest, you repeat yourself. “Miquel died before Rebecca, his heart condition” and there, you were, ugly sobbing again.
“Oh no, not Miguel.” Steven laments. Again, he didn’t watch the show as much as you, but Miguel was his favorite.
Steven continued to hold you as you cried, and lamented to you, “Why do you watch this show when all it does is make you cry?”
“It’s my comfort show…” you mutter.
Steven laughs a bit, pulling you off him and heading to the kitchen. “You don’t seem very comforted, darling.”
“I am… so happy right now.” You joke through tears.
“I’m sure you are. How about we go visit your grandma this weekend? I know This is Us always makes you emotional about her.”
Smiling at how well he knew you, you nodded. “That would be great, Steven.”
When Steven brought you some hot tea, just how you like it, “How about we watch we real comfort show to cheer you up. New Girl? Or Are you in a movie mood”
You consider for a moment. “Star Wars Episode thr-”
“No!” Steven bursts into a laugh. “You know damn well that one always makes you cry at the end!”
“I won’t cry! I promise! I just wanna see Anakin’s pretty face!”
Steven sighed. “Fine, if you promise you won’t cry.”
By the time ‘YOU WERE MY BROTHER ANAKIN’ played out of the screen, you were sobbing again, muttering how it didn’t have to be this way. Steven was holding you under his left arm, ordering pizza with his right hand. No more “Comfort” movies or shows tonight.

Helluva boss review part 5
Helluva boss short
So this short is about Millie and her sister, Sally Mae. It’s only 5 minutes long. So very short indeed. The little montage of Sally and Millie being in the spa, dressing up shopping, and being at the arcade and club was cute. Thought I did notice that the short is very quiet? There’s not a lot of talking and when Millie and Sally were beating up the creep, there was lots of sound effect, but no talking or music. It was a bit weird..
Oh, so Sally is upset that Millie doesn’t visit home as much. She worries that Millie enjoys Imp City in comparison to home, where there’s not a lot to do. She explains that since Millie left, Sally had to take care of so much. Millie says she’s sorry that she doesn’t visit as much, and will try to. She also tells Sally that since their younger brothers are older and can help out, Sally can also come visit too.
The episode ends with the sister play wrestling then going to Millie’s apartment and watching a movie.
I think this short is very sweet. It gives inside to Millie’s and her Sally’s relationship, and their home. In the 2 season, we didn’t know anything about Sally or Millie’s family. So this little short is nice.
Trailer
Ok, so there going to be 5 new episodes. Cool. So this is going to be 3 season then?
The trailer is only 2 minutes long. In it, we see a weird cult, the gang has to go on the run, and business is peaking. 👀 ohhhh snap the cherubs are going to work with the government guys! I was wonder when those 2 groups would come back..
The gang also is going to get involved with a hotel dealing with ghosts, Stolas is questing his relationship with Blitzo. And there a council of birds…also a new prince?? Maybe it’s wrath?? Also Octavia is still questing if her dad loves her or Blitzo. And Blitzo doesn’t want to be a bad/toxic friend anymore..
Tumblr media
The shows schedule for the new episodes
Final thoughts
Ok!! It took 2 days but I’m finally done with this series. I think I’m going to watch the 5 new episodes..I heard that this is going to be the show’s last season?? If it is, that’s fine by me, but I wonder how will they wrap everything up satisfying in 5 episodes?
Out of Vivzepop’s 2 shows, Hazbin Hotel, and Helluva Boss. I prefer this one much, much, more. The problem with Hazbin is that it gets to point A then to point B to fast. Like in the first episode they say that the angel extermination was in 6? 9? Months, but then in like episode 2, the show will have a time skip of a month or a week and nothing has happen. Characters just appear and disappears, characters don’t have any development or are just use in the background. When the final episode happen and the Big Fight™️ and the Big Musical™️ moments happen I literally didn’t care. Why should I cheer and wish these people happiness when I don’t even know them besides the basic surface knowledge?
That’s we’re Helluva is different. You can actually see and notice when people are changing. You can go from the first episode to the last and see the difference in people’s personalities. Any show, even if it’s an indie project or has little time, can give characters depth and make people want to keep watching.
But that where the negatives come in.
In the first season, it was about 3 imp with their hellhound assistant. There was also a demon bird, and his family, that’s it. By season 2, so many characters are introduced, that the show kind of just drops characters. Season 1 was about a group of assassins doing their job and getting into situations, it was a dark comedy. But by season 2, and especially the ending, that dark comedy turn into a drama. Only 1 episodes in season two did they have the assassins do their job. The rest of the time they, and it’s mostly Blitzo, are bodyguards to a high Nobel family.
The relationship of this show is what change the show. More specifically, Stolas x Blitso. In the pilot and in episode 1, Stolas just use blitzo for sex. Their dynamic was seen a a funny comedy. But as the season grew, it stopped being a comedy and turn into a romance. The plot of the show about assassins then becomes a show about a nobleman wanting to be in a relationship with someone from a lower class. And how the nobleman cheating on his wife, and how he and his wife are now going through a divorce.
The only time we see any dynamic outside that ship, is with Blitzo and Frizz, Blitzo and Moxxie, and Moxxie and Millie, or Moxxie and Blitzo vs Striker. I wish there was an episode where Moxxie and Loona had to spend the day together. Or Millie and Blitzo. I want to see this little group of imps together. There only 3 of them, and many times when they are together their dynamic feels off. It feels like something is missing. They are friendly with each other, but nothing more. They just act like co-workers. When you add Lonna and Octavia into the mix, that’s makes things more messy.
Octavia is a child who is watching her family go though a divorce. She feels like her dad doesn’t love her, only his new partner. I wish we can an episode about that. What are her thought on Blitzo? What does he think of her? What is Octavia’s relationship with her mom? Stella is abusive and hates Stolas, does she hate her daughter? What does Lonna think of Blitzo, who adopted her a month before she age out of the system. How does she feel about Millie or Moxxie? These dynamic dynamics strengths the show, instead of making the show loose it plot and have it be about a couple and their issues.
The gang having issues is fine, I like it. It gives insight to characters. Millie has a good relationship with her parents and sister. Moxxie has an abusive dad and he use to work in the mafia. Blitzo though, he’s the one with the most backstory and depth. As the start of the show he’s a jerk who curses, stalks his co-workers, and just had fun killing. As the series goes on, he starts to have conflicts thought on Stolas, and even rekindle an old friendship. He slowly changing.
Some of the other thoughts I have: the show curses a lot. But in the end episodes of season 2, it feels like the show is slowly starting to to turn that down. I don’t know if it’s because of YouTube or not, but I like that. Not every scene in a minute needs cursing. Also while the colors in this show are beautiful, and I love how each prince of sin has their own color. The show sometimes has the imp in a different skin tone. They are very pale in some scenes or even has a color warmer shade. It’s very noticeable. And while I do love the fights scenes, when a character is by themselves, the area feels slowly and empty.
The whole world feels empty too. There not many species in hell, so it makes the emptiness more noticeable. There imps, sharks, goats, birds, hellhounds, and a few other aqua animals. But that it. For only 6 species, this show is very small. Sidewalks and roads feel small, if this show is supposed to be overpopulated, why aren’t the crowd full of people or the roads with cars?
The singing numbers are bad. Literally only 1 song has gotten stuck in my head and that’s Ozzie’s. I’m feel like of the songs were shorter or even gone or use sparingly, it would help the show a lot. Most of the time a song is there just to show off the VA singing skills. The songs also don’t have depth more of the time, and I feel are use to run up space.
Also why are the imps lower class? Why is an imp and a nobleman, or an imp and a prince of sin being in a relationship a bad thing? What are the actual consequences of this? You can just keep telling us that imps are lower class and not tell us why.
TLDR: The show is decent, not sure amazing where I would recommend it, but ok. the show needs to explore other relationships besides stoles x blitzo. The background emptiness and the colors of the imp need to improve. Get rid of the songs. Wish there was more silly situations and less drama.

So, I finally watched the Archer finale..
WARNING. SPOILERS AHEAD FOR INTO THE COLD!!!
So, Archer has come to an end. Its a lot for me to process, this is a hard one for me, the past 6 months have been exclusively Archer for me, I've fallen so far for a fictional character. I'm going to try my absolute best to collect all of my thoughts in one post for this. I'll try not to spoiler too much. But I think this is necessary for me so I can help process this loss for me.
To say I'm happy is an understatement. I'm beyond relieved and grateful we got the proper Archer ending this show so badly deserved. The season 14 finale was a disgrace, and the way it could have ended would have been tragic. This show ending is tragic enough, but thats just my view on it. Hyperfixations are hard ya'll.
I think the way they ended the plot for this show was very cleverly done. While I don't think Adam Reed would have went in this direction, I'm still satisfied with what the writers did. Seeing everyone band together was wonderful, and there were a couple twists I wasn't expecting at all, but it goes without saying, nothing can be perfect.
Some initial thoughts, pros and cons if you may, but not really.
The growth the characters go through is really really cool to see, notably Archer. When he says he doesn't need to know who his father is, that's a huge milestone and a step towards some emotional maturity. Sterling has so much trauma and is overall a very impulsive character, but letting him have his moments of clarity is always nice to see. There is a good balance between his impulses and realizing that his actions have consequences. I don't think there was any way Slater could have been saved in the end anyways.
There was no main focus on any specific character. Every main reoccurring role in the show got their own moments in this finale, which I am super grateful for. Season 14 had a hard time dedicating specific episodes to certain characters like in the earlier seasons, so this finale did a great job at giving everyone a bit of spotlight.
Focusing on the main characters instead of random one off characters was super cool and something I appreciate as well. Katya, Barry, and Slater were all characters who made the biggest impacts on the show by far, not to mention they're also fan favourites. But seeing Rip Riley was super exciting as well!
The early season throwbacks!! In the elevator shaft you can see the old ISIS sign and an old Cherlene album :3 If there was anything else I probably missed it as there was a lot of clutter, but I always get so so excited when there's early season callbacks. It shows that's the writers really do care about these characters and their stories. I was happy to see Milton!! Milton supremacy!!
The ode to Malory was wonderful, I'm so so happy they did that. Lana's speech at the end was a good way to wrap everything up for the crew.
There isn't much to say negatively, these aren't necessarily things that make this finale bad, just things that made me sad and were a surprise to me that I'm not sure how I feel. This is completely opinion biased and you can disagree all you want!
Slater dying. I'm really sad that one of my favourites ended up dying. I loved the very erotic moments between Slater and Archer and their initial fight was really intense and fun. But seeing Slater die wasn't really all that satisfying for me, except it allowed Archer to grow more and let go of some of that trauma. RIP Slater </3 You were a son of a bitch
Morphing Barry and Katya.. This is a weird one for me. I'm not sure how I feel about this at all. I guess the only fun thing I can say about this is that we got some fun classic enemies to lovers. I dont particularly LOVE that trope, but with making Katya a antagonist, it was quite the choice.
The settings.. I think it was fitting to have some of the settings back in Russia, but Rio was quite the random choice. There was a lot going on and at one point I kind of got confused as to where everyone was at one point, in one scene they're at the Agency, the next they're in a safe house, the next they're in some other random area, that was a bit hard to follow, but a lot happened in an hour, and there was a lot going on. The title "Into the Cold" was clever. Also I hated the whole crypto thing. That genuinely felt like a cheap cop out for some plot holes. Cyril doesn't seem like the type of person to be interested in crypto as one would figure he'd be pretty knowledgeable on how that stuff is shitty. If Lana saw those mines you know she would lose her mind LOL
Overall, I am happy with how things were wrapped up. I was very worried near the end because we hadn't seen AJ at ALL, or had any mention of her, so seeing the scene at the end with her and Sterling made me really happy, knowing that Archer kept in contact with Lana but not anybody else really stung, but Sterling saying he "hates goodbyes" really stuck with me after this finale finished. Saying goodbye to this show is not easy whatsoever, I have such a strong connection with these characters and cast, and my love for Cheryl is eternal. Its hard for neurotypical people to fully understand, and this is a grieving process for me, but I have the support and friends to help me through this, and I will always have these guys around, since I can rewatch this show as many times as I want. I will continue to make content and hopefully start writing more maybe. This world is so expansive and so many things can be done as it falls on the line of realism, slice of life, and science fiction. I love everything this show had to offer, and I'm so grateful for the dedication and work that went into this show.
If you read this far for some reason, thanks for reading.

Having just finished Season 1 of The Bear I just gotta say:
No. I am not okay. Thanks for asking.
Great show so far. I started watching it because the bestie put my eyeballs on Jeremy Allen White some time back. For a little while it was like ehhh I'm not sure this is really for me, but I finally couldn't take it anymore and started watching the other day.
It isn't the sort of show that grabs you right out of the gate, at least not too intensely, but by episode 5 I was pretty hooked, and around 6 or 7 I'd say firmly invested.
The filmwork is incredible (the one-take episode is insane). The writing is great. Like no, seriously. It's great in this quiet and sometimes very subtle/understated way. Every character feels very flawed. The dialogue? On point. The anxiety pouring off of this show can be felt to such an alarming degree I don't even know how to feel about it. I really like the characters, not because they're all wonderful people but because they feel real, like I might have met them before, like I might yet know them. The show doesn't beat you over the head with themes but the first season feels very firmly about grief and how different people react to it and process it. And there's a takeaway in there that you don't know what people don't tell you: how they are, how they feel, if they're close to a boiling or breaking point, if they're going through other things. I think the first season also feels very much about communication and how important it is to communicate efficiently and calmly with other people.
Season 1 wrapped up so effectively, I just. Man. I felt like all of my biggest questions were answered.
I have a billion other thoughts, of course, but I'll leave it here for now. Feel free to toss me a message if you've also seen this show and have things to say about it/want my thoughts on anything.

We were duped! Scammed! Wilfully played with! We’ve been had.
It’s all good. No, seriously. It’s good. We made assumptions, but it doesn't mean good things aren’t coming.
Let’s not allow ourselves to fall into trap – we’ve watched the trailer and the music videos, and we think we know, but we’re clueless. We guessed incorrectly.
We all thought pool scene would feature episode 8 because Mile and Apo are evil gremlins. It didn’t. We all thought the ‘I’m on your side’ would directly precede the pool scene. It might not. We all thought Porsche was going to leave the compound in episode 11 because Porschay gave Porsche an ultimatum. We were wrong.
This freaking show, I swear. I love it. I’m going to be stuck after the 9th July.
We’ve been conditioned by years of BL, Kdramas, and Western shows to think that love – lasting love and happiness - can only be wrought following several intense periods of grief, angst, separation, sacrifice, duty, miscommunications etc.
Well, it isn’t as if that hasn’t happened with KinnPorsche. They’ve confused and hurt each other, there’s been more than one kidnapping, they’ve shown distrust of each other when they actually feel nothing but trust, ex’s and oh’s have slithered into their orbit, errors in communication etc. But they’ve pulled through.
Now… Korn dissolving Porsche’s role in the family from bodyguard to kept man sounding all wrapped up and pretty, but Porsche? A man of leisure???? I’m sure he’d love it at first – he does in the episode but watch his face when daddy Korn pulls the plug. Watch Kinn’s face, his eyes fly to Porsche in worry.
Sure, it settles them both that Korn assigns him the title boyfriend, but it won’t be long before Porsche gets bored, or something happens yada yada yada.
Mostly, this is the barrier between them that might screw things up again and give us a much yearned for scene.
I think we can all agree that Kinn’s grown, that together they’ve become this wonderful pair. But there was a very clear line between Kinn and Porsche in that meeting. Porsche CANNOT be both bodyguard and lover of the heir to the family business. According to Korn, those lines cannot be broken. We know Kinn’s broken rules that Korn has set and has bent others. Korn usually respond to this with either stern judgement or punishment for Porsche.
I also think the kidnap at the end of episode 5 was Korn’s doing. Meant for Porsche. But Kinn got in the way.
But let’s move forwards.
KP spent episode 11 in bliss – this doesn’t necessarily mean they’re headed towards darker times, because this show has done a great job in surprising the hell out of me there. According to BL guide 2022, we’re now due for a love triangle and a sins of the father trope. We know we’re not getting a love triangle, but sins of the father being reaped by the son? Possibly.
It’s very clear something’s going to happen to hurt them and us in turn, but we were convinced we knew why.
We’re getting the big shootout scene either episode 12 or 13. I’m guessing 13, and only because Pete’s back by then, but again, I’m guessing. We know how much can happen in a single episode. We know Kinn’s pissed or feeling betrayed at Porsche in the shootout scene – I don’t necessarily think they’re pointing their guns at each other, I think they’re watching each other’s 6.
I think the second family attacks the main family, I think Vegas is there shooting at KP, but his attention will change gear and he’ll go after Pete. I think Porsche is going to find out about this guy:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(no idea who screencapped these pics, sorry)
And it was either Korn who used him to push Porsche towards Kinn or it was Kinn who was following daddy’s orders.
If it’s the former, it’s a manipulation that would absolutely drive Porsche off for a little while – and I’m talking a LITTLE while. We have three episodes left. Episode 14 will be the wrap up, so we have, fortunately, one whole episode to withstand of possible angst before Porsche comes and saves Kinn.
If it’s the latter… it’s brutal. And we won’t be able to blame Kinn because he wasn’t emotionally invested at the time: they were both overly aggressive with each other because of their personalities and the physical attraction they were feeling. Kinn trusts his father: if his father ordered it, I could absolutely see Kinn using underhanded and SMART methods to pull Porsche under his employ. Part of me doesn’t see it happening because Kinn has honour – it’s fairly ambiguous though.
Kinn’s a man who’ll shoot someone in the head to prove a point, who’ll watch his men beat the shit out of someone to collect a debt and issue a warning. He’s also someone who’ll kidnap a bartender to coerce him into working for the family…
He is capable of manipulation – look at how he played Tawan.
Again, I wouldn’t be hurt by it because they were strangers at the time. But if it’s true, Porsche might take it the absolute worst way and he'd be entitled to.
I mean, not having Porsche next to Kinn during the shootout could literally just be just because he’s not Kinn’s bodyguard anymore. Or it could mean they’ve had a tiff. Or it could mean Porsche left him.
Korn clearly doesn’t want Porsche to leave but I don’t see the man physically preventing him from doing so. But there are other reasons Porsche might take a moment away:
Porsche might be manipulated or blackmailed into sodding off for a while: we know he’s open to manipulation because of his personality type and squishy heart.
Porsche might find out the above and feel betrayed, betraying Kinn right back by leaving.
Porsche might discover whatever connection Korn has to the death of his parents.
Kinn’s lied to.
Or… it’s something else, because we have no freaking clue!!
Luckily for us, whatever the possible heartache is, it won’t last long – the week wait between episode 12 and 13 however might be brutal.
Still, we’re getting this:
Tumblr media
( gif by @longlist-of-fictional-lovers )
Tumblr media
( gif by @r-4-nd-0-mn-3-ss )
Now, here’s why this beautiful shot is important.
I brought up a final barrier before. The relationship between KP is already so beautiful, but it’s not what it needs to be yet. There’s still a level of trust not breached, a place where Kinn holds back.
We’ve all ranted about how they both communicate: Porsche needs words, but Kinn needs actions.
Porsche coming for Kinn when he’s no longer his bodyguard, when he’s potentially left the main compound completely, coming for Kinn when he doesn’t have to-
Now. I’m just going to explain that last part before you all decide to have me swim with the fishes 😊
In Kinn’s head, love does not mean devotion – he’s never had someone be devoted to him, not in actions. I honestly don’t think that Kinn would expect Porsche to come for him, to protect and save him, simply because it’s no longer Porsche’s job role. Sure, Kinn knows Porsche loves him, but for Porsche to come get him when the result might lead to Porsche’s death, isn’t something Kinn can fathom. Especially if something’s gone on between them beforehand.
For Porsche to come in like Rambo, to save his ass, get him out of there and protect him, and to succeed, would be the ultimate act of love for Kinn.
It would destroy all barriers:
Tumblr media
It’s why Kinn’s feeling him up. In the middle of a shootout.
In the past, Kinn ran from bullets, he even leaves bodyguards behind to save himself. There’s a clear line for him between duty and fun and it doesn’t exist in the field, so to speak. And yet he feels safe enough, secure enough, FINALLY, to just exist in the moment as bullets fly around them, to feel up the man he now knows IS actually his. No more wondering about betrayal, no more distrust about Porsche’s intentions. This is the ultimate act – Porsche couldn’t do any better to prove this point and it's leaving Kinn all horny and needy and lovey.
Whether the pool scene follows or not, Kinn HAS stated that he loves Porsche. We don’t necessarily need a big declaration scene now. But I do feel like one might be coming up – a reward from a very thankful, freed Kinn.
You know, before we find out how the family destroyed Porsche and Chay’s lives ten years ago. But that’s another story!
The shootout is my most anticipated scene for this reason though – and it’s why Kinn will ask Porsche to be his bodyguard again. Not his bodyguard INSTEAD of his boyfriend. Unlike his father, Kinn will let go of the imitations a title can give. Porsche will be his bodyguard because Kinn will trust no other like him, because Porsche will prove his dedication in a way that he hasn't so far. Porsche will have a purpose and Kinn will have constant access – Porsche will be both bodyguard and boyfriend and it will be glorious.
But Porsche coming for Kinn serves two purposes – Porsche told Chay that he wanted to take care of both Kinn and Chay, but he also said that nothing was going to happen to him. Him diving into the fray, into danger, is a sacrifice. One that Kinn will understand in its entirety. Knowing he might be killed but doing it anyway? It means he’s choosing Kinn. Not necessarily over Chay, but definitely against what Chay wants from him. Porsche going with his heart and letting it make him dangerous? YES PLEASE.
See, a lot of people have been irritated by Porsche’s behaviour in episode 11. A lot of people are easily annoyed I’ve found. But they seemed to translate his quietness for weakness.
I saw it as introspection. A time for Porsche to rest up and consider what he wants and how it should go. There have been crumbs left throughout the season that have admittedly, made us frustrated, but tell us that we might get to see a Porsche with his head on his shoulders and that’s because he makes a choice. A choice he’s never had to make.
And I think that’s perfect.

10 Reasons I Love Emergency! and Still Watch it 50 Years After it Came Out:
1. I love medical stuff; I always have.  When I was in preschool I told everyone I wanted to be a doctor and that was true up until my sophomore year of highschool.  Emergency! gives me unfiltered access to the ways of the medical world, albeit the medical world from 50 years ago.  But that just makes it more interesting, in a way, because I get to see for myself which things in medicine are constant and which have evolved beyond recognition.  And many times modern shows don’t focus on the medical side of things the way Emergency! does; they’re too wrapped up in the drama.
2. I also love the old technology.  In one episode, a patient needed a brain scan, and I was wondering why they didn’t just do an MRI until I looked it up and realized MRIs wouldn’t be invented for another few years yet.  I love the way they have to go to the library to determine the normal body temperature of a dog, how they plotted an entire episode around Johnny not knowing how a tv show ended, how nobody has a phone in their hand.  It’s refreshing to slow down with them.
3. Emergency! is an educational reel for the paramedic program.  It spends its screen time teaching its audience about what the paramedics do when they are on a call, the training they have, how they spend down time on the job, who they might be, how to act (and not act) around them, the controversy and apprehension regarding their implementation.  There is so much to be learned from watching this show about the paramedic program that never would have even crossed my mind- things that follow into today’s world.  (would it ever have occurred to me to look up my city’s ambulance program if I hadn’t watched this show?  Likely not.  Turns out it wasn’t implemented until 2003.  Paramedics and ambulances are new, folks.)
4. The actors for Roy and Johnny had real firefighter paramedic training.  Randolph Mantooth was actually given a firefighter position after the show ended.  The squad they used for Squad 51 was built for the set with real specs and later donated to LACPD.  The firehouse they used was (I believe) a real fire station.  This was before everything was cardboard sets and green screens and it gives everything a sense of authenticity.
5. Everyone in modern tv is a caricature; nobody is real anymore.  Even someone as down-t0-earth as Rory Gilmore from Gilmore Girls is still an archetype, a caricature, a stereotype of the privileged, mild-mannered schoolgirl.  It’s nice and refreshing to watch a show and just see people.  Roy and Johnny and Brackett and Dixie and Early are just people.  They’re no larger than life, they’re not infallible, nor are their flaws dramatic and for flair.  They just are.
6. Not only are the people over-dramatized today, but so are the storylines.  If you turn on a modern medical drama, every patient has some super-rare, life-threatening disease.  Everyone is going to die, there’s always a crisis to solve.  In Emergency!, sometimes the story is just a guy stuck in a couch or a girl high on drugs running through the streets or Johnny being mad about something dumb.  Not everything is the crisis of the century.  There’s space to breathe.  And there’s no sex.  In the very beginning they hint at a relationship between Kelly and Dixie, but there’s nobody having sex in the break room, there’s no cheating or relationship drama.  Only Johnny lusting after girls, and that is so mild and humorous it doesn’t bother me in the slightest.
7. They focus on the parts of the job that are hard.  Dixie has to tell a kid her dad died.  Kelly ends up between an angry man and the guy he wants to kill.  They worry about each other, their buddies die, they’re overworked and sometimes they make the wrong decision or they just don’t know what to do.  They argue, they break down, they get hurt, too.  They’re people with really tough jobs, and the show never makes light of that.
8. The doctors and paramedics have such compassion for their patients and victims, no matter how crazy or stupid a call.  They help addicts without judging, give treatment without raising an eyebrow, they don’t even get angry when they have to risk their lives and their partners’ lives to save someone who did this to himself.  They’re just unbelievably compassionate.
9. And they are selfless.  They chose a job that puts them in life-threatening situations on a daily basis just to help people that may not even want their help or may actively hinder them.  They do what they can and they ask for nothing in return.  They’re not thinking of themselves when they’re rubbing smoke out of their eyes and still focused on treating the victims’ injuries.
10. The characters are just authentic, genuine, wonderful dorks.  Roy- who knows what Johnny’s thinking without him even having to say it, who runs in the building to get him with no time left, who’s always calm and stable and seems to have endless patience.  Johnny- who’s everywhere all at once, who attracts accidents like a dog attracts fleas, who would do anything to save anyone, who feels everything more than most, who the whole station would move heaven and earth to protect even as they make fun of him day in and day out. Dixie- who runs that hospital in her calm but stern voice, who’s stronger than any woman tv could have thought up before that, whose hugs have comforted many a grieving relative.  Brackett- who everyone’s a little afraid of but loves anyway, who’s gentle and firm in the same breath, who really only wants to help people, no matter what.  And all the others, and the way they fit into the show, whether a lot or a little-they just seem to fit perfectly.
I've been watching this show off and on since I was 10 years old, and I'm 22 now. It's just full of all the things that make life good.

Good Sword
This fig set! I got it a long time ago, but it took so much wrangling I'm just now getting around to writing this post.
We know the inspiration for this fig from this amazing scene in Episode 2:
There's a lot of delicate pieces on this fig set - Lao Wen's hairpin, his flying hair wispies, and of course A-Xu's Baiyi, so I'm happy this fig set arrived safely in it's protective polystyrene.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love it when figs are in plastic like this - they make it super easy to remove from the box. Less worry about breakage from me for sure.
Let's do a quick spin around of these two figs before we connect them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Beautiful! I love this set - it's a slightly different style than the more typical chibi style, a little more "grown up". There's some wonderful detail of the bamboo embroidery on Wen Kexing's white robes, and on his ginkgo hairpin. A-Xu of course is in his hobo best, with his drinking gourd and layered blue robes.
So here's the problem. They're very difficult to fit well together. The fig maker was horrified to hear that some fans broke Baiyi by mistake, trying to get the two figs to connect together. She issued instructions to the buyers on how to connect them, but I have to say, they didn't help me all that much.
One of the issues is that Wen Kexing's two fingers that are supposed to hold the blade - don't. The fingers are tiny and cute, as you can see by him flashing a peace sign there, and not in any way big enough for Baiyi to snap into. You can press the sword a little bit into the fingers, but it pops right out. I guess if his fingers were actually big enough to hold Baiyi, they'd be comically large, so I get it!
Tumblr media
You can see when I actually put them together so the sword goes in the fingers, that the heights are off. When I push Lao Wen down or A-Xu up so both of their feet are on the same level, the sword pops right out. Also, the wispies on Lao Wen's hair block A-Xu from getting too close, and then you have Lao Wen's hand that (in the show) wraps around his waist, but here, just seems to hold his drinking gourd.
Tumblr media
This is literally the only way I can get the figs to fit together. You see Lao Wen's wispy that's running into A-Xu's hair? I was worried about breaking that putting them together. I was worried about breaking Baiyi of course. I was also worried about breaking Lao Wen's fingers! You can see now why I've put off doing anything with this set for a while. I ended up gluing the figures down, then put a bit of glue between Lao Wen's fingers and then holding the sword between his fingers for about 6 minutes until the glue set. You can see how Baiyi is more wavy than a curve - that's because the heights didn't quite work out. In retrospect and looking at this picture, maybe I should have angled Baiyi down from the top a bit so the tip was pointed down - less parallel to the base.
But! All that aside, it finally all worked out with no damage, so I'm very happy! Let's give you a spin back around the pair now that they're not going anywhere:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can see Lao Wen's wispy here that kept getting in the way. I kept trying to turn A-Xu a little more into Lao Wen's hand, so his hand would properly go around his waist, but that of course just rotated Baiyi even further out. You can see here how, as it is, the sword tip just barely is being held between Lao Wen's fingers. If I rotated A-Xu the other way, away from Lao Wen (which just sounds wrong!), then Lao Wen's hand and that wispy gets in the way.
In the shot in the show, they both truly are facing forward, so the fig maker did a really nice job translating this to fig form. I think it must get real complicated real fast when you try to design figs like this to fit each other - I've seen how easy it is to get the proportions of arms and hands off, so the fact that this set adheres to closely to the scene while remaining cute and delicately made is amazing.
Tumblr media
They're both wearing their pants and boots, you just can't see A-Xu's because of the dark blue layers. Their feet are also very, very small and narrow, which complicated things as well because they aren't very stable figs even before you try to connect them together.
Tumblr media
Looks pretty good from the top, I think!
Tumblr media
Here's a comparison of our Good Sword figs with our wonderful Dirty Bag and Snow Maiden figs so you can see the typical fig proportions with this new body style. Much smaller and more delicate all the way around. I love them both!
Tumblr media
Our very cute box card with Lao Wen delivering his line...with a little smile!
Tumblr media
It's funny the bits of Chinese I've picked up from the show, as I slowly and painfully plod my way through Learn Rudimentary Chinese in 15 Minutes a Day for Working Adults. Thanks to my lessons, I can say things like, I eat noodles, and I am busy in the morning. Thanks to Word of Honor, I can say things like Good sword, and I am a philanthropist.
Tumblr media
We've already done the New Year Wenzhou set here on the box...just two more to go in this series! Please look forward to it!
Material: Resin and a very good sword
Fig Count: 397
Scene Count: 27
Rating: Thanks for helping out, Philanthropist Wen!

Rewatched Timeless since the finale took place the week of Christmas, 2023.
Tumblr media
This show frustrates me SO, SO much. So much.
They have Rufus, who is amazing. Especially when paired with Jiya. Seriously, Malcolm Barrett is a massive part of why this show went more than 6 episodes, and he has wonderful chemistry with Claudia Doumit.
They have Goran Visnjic who manages to play the villain with so much heart that you pay far more attention when he's on screen.
Goran and Malcolm are the two elements of why this show-- when it worked-- worked. The two of them had SO much charisma, so much put into their characters that no matter what was going on on the screen, you wanted to know what happened to them. You needed to know if they were okay.
They have Susanna Thompson, who aside from being a very compelling actor on her own, was stellar as the Queen Borg on Voyager.
They have Annie Wershching, who manages to play a villain without being absurd or over the top. (She also played the Queen Borg for Picard, but I really, really hate Picard. But I quite like Annie. RIP Annie.)
They had a main woman character who had agency, and a storyline of her own.
They have a creepy clandestine cult trying to destroy the world, that's always fun.
They had Sakina Jaffrey and Paterson Joseph, both of whom are enjoyable to watch.
They had Colman Domingo as a guest star playing Bass Reeves-- just before he exploded and became known to the world. As expected, he was brilliant every moment.
Sean Maguire guest starred in an episode, he was great as well. Karen David played a young Denise Christopher with excellence.
They didn't let Matt Frewer do an accent, so he was fine.
They have a time machine where they can go anywhere in time. How can you go wrong with this premise?
They have writers from Mad Men and The Walking Dead.
They have stories where they can focus on women, People of Colour and queer people who have all been forgotten in history. This is the key point on why the show should have worked-- the hidden histories.
This all could have worked. This should have worked. This fucking show SHOULD HAVE WORKED.
If they hadn't had a forced love story between the main woman character and the horrible, stupid, possessive toxic masculinity wrapped up in insecurity soldier boy.
Everything else about this stupid show worked. But they spent so much time focussing on a love story between the two most boring, most under-developed, worst characters on the show that they ruined it.
I don't know if it was Matt Lanter's acting, if it was the writing, the directing, I don't know.
What I do know is that every time Rufus, Jiya, Flynn, Denise, Connor and Emma were on the screen, I cared what happened. When Lucy was on the screen by herself, I cared less, but it was fine. When Lucy and Wyatt were on the screen, I zoned out. I came on Tumblr, I checked my emails, I replied to texts from friends. I could not care even a second every time they were on screen. When just Soldier Boy was on, I started to doze.
This show is SO frustrating. SO much of it worked. But not the bits they were so focussed on showing.
This show makes me mad sometimes. I'm mad at the lost opportunities, I'm mad for the moments that worked well and were never unpacked. I'm mad for all the episodes we could have had highlighting women, People of Colour and queer people forgotten through history. I'm mad that to get to all the great moments with Flynn, Rufus, Jiya, Denise, Connor and Emma, I have to sit through SO much crap with Lucy and Soldier Boy.
This show is like two different shows-- an interesting one with lots of great characters in interesting situations, and a horrible soap opera with the dumbest, most selfish, most bland white people ever that I wish would just die.
And then two minutes later, Rufus or Flynn is on scene and I care again.
This show makes me mad.

random thoughts/theories on apple tv bad sisters (based on the opening credits and the first two eps.) spoilers below the cut and also tw for some mentions of domestic abuse and manipulative behavior
original show
when i watched the first episode of bad sisters, i didn’t know that the show was based on the 2012 flemish/belgian series clan! it makes me wonder how much is different compared to that but i know with a lot of adaptations there are slight changes to fit the setting/culture/language/location/etc.
i haven’t watched the original series besides the trailer and bad sisters looks to be very similar (obviously lol. and the wikipedia page for clan looks very detailed in terms of episode summaries so i wouldn’t recommend reading that wiki page if you want to avoid spoilers and go into bad sisters without knowing too much).
apparently the creator of the original series (malin-sarah gozin) is an executive producer on bad sisters so that’s cool :D
opening credits
i like the opening credits! reminds me of elementary with the rube goldberg contraption. not sure what the original series’ opening credits look like, but the goldberg contraption visual with the pj harvey cover of leonard cohen’s who by fire accompanying it is a great combination as well, kind of setting the scene and asking the questions: who killed john paul and how did they do it/how did he meet his end?
a basic rundown of the opening sequence and most of its items:
1. taxidermy badger whose left eye pops out and puts everything in motion, hitting another taxidermy eye.
there could be something said about badger symbolism, like bravery, protection, aggression.
2. the taxidermy eye rolls along archery arrows leading the eye to knock over blocks wrapped in maps of dublin/etc, which then knocks over a statue of a praying religious figure
3. the momentum of the falling figure triggers a lampshade rigged with knives to start spinning, causing an apple to tip over, and that momentum then causes an axe connected to the apple to fall and cut a red string
not to be killing eve “apple, eve” internet search but one can read into the symbolism here lol
severed “red string of fate” between grace and john paul?
also i can’t tell if the red string is a string of yarn, because in the trailer i think grace is knitting something with red yarn
4. a miniature boat similar to the one john paul has (named “true grace”) rolls along a track and is framed by a ring buoy (there’s also a captain’s hat in the background)
5. the boat hits a petroleum spirit can of lighter fluid (at the very bottom it looks like it says “TYRANN C FIRE” which idk what to read into that or if it's just actually part of the prop lol) and it spills out its (non-liquid) contents of what looks to be a blue bead-like substance onto a mill wheel to spin a tied-up figure holding a bursting bottle of champagne
it is said john paul doesn’t drink but we do see him drink champagne with grace, thus leading to him not letting grace drive to the forty foot to meet the rest of the sisters. and he had a blood alcohol level way above 1% so...
6. as the figure spins, the red string tightens and pulls the trigger of a fake/prank gun with a “bang” flag
7. then a cog(?) tied to some blue and green fabric (bow tie? neck tie? there are also men’s ties in the background) topples over a tower of monopoly money with john paul’s face on them and the delicate teacup sitting at the top of the tower
teacup could represent grace but i also could just be reading too much into it lol
8. the falling teacup is rigged to and lifts a paper titled “life insurance plan,” and a watermelon sitting atop the paper rolls into a book causing a domino effect of falling books: mushrooms of the world (so i’m assuming poison... hello phantom thread), insurance law & you, one shot left, the complete guide to wild mushrooms, time to wine, best places to wild swim
other books that were in the stack that held the apple and the axe: modern home doctor, the human body (could relate to ursula, who is a nurse, or to thomas/matt who try to start the process of exhuming the body for an autopsy in episode 2)
9. the last book in the domino sequence (best places to wild swim) is tied to a box of matches, the inner box falls but ignites a line of matches which in turn burns a picture of john paul
there’s not a 100% clear shot of it, but it looks like there’s an illustration of a badger on the match box, so the whole sequence starts and ends with a badger
based on the bad sisters trailer i think a lot of the items seen in the opening credits are things that are used in the sisters’ attempts to kill john paul, so we just have to figure out what exactly did the deed... the claffin brothers recoil at the photo of john paul’s body but when he’s in his casket his face looks fine and done up because of the make up so hmmmmmm
general thoughts/characters
eva: sharon playing another iconic eldest sister and being a cool aunt... yeah! also the bits of eva’s backstory make me sad and i know we’ll get even more context as the series goes on but :((((((( the conversation eva and john paul had at blanaid’s confirmation was so unbelievable like... sharon's performance in that scene was so good, like the rage and hurt in eva's eyes... :(
eva name meaning: life or giver of life... which... D: (although it is revealed she is unable to have children, she also raised her younger sisters and obviously cares for her nieces and nephews)
ursula: eva birthistle... hello... also hello beth and edie imagine me and you reunion even though they didn’t have any scenes together in the movie <3 episode 3 looks to be about ursula a little more so i’m interested to see what happens since john paul had witnessed her with her lover (who also attended john paul’s funeral and whom ursula’s husband saw there as well)
ursula name meaning: little female bear. i have to say i don’t know what to take from this lol
grace: anne-marie duff... oh... i feel so bad for grace and blanaid :((( the abuse/manipulative behavior from john paul that grace endures behind closed doors and even in public (blanaid’s confirmation) is so heartbreaking and the fact that blanaid has witnessed his behavior (him writing it off as “worry[ing] too much”) and has adjusted the way she acts because she knows john paul doesn’t like certain things (blanaid stopping her dance when john paul comes home because— in his view— it’s a dancing style that makes it seem like she’s “asking for it”)... :( it’s so upsetting.
seeing grace with her sisters shows how much john paul is affecting her. like just dancing with eva and blanaid or singing along to a song at the lizzo concert when it’s just her and blanaid... it’s such a contrast to when john paul is there gaslighting her and being controlling (and even when he calls them as they’ve just entered the concert, the tone absolutely shifts because you just know how the conversation will go). and the scene where grace asks the sisters in episode 1 to just let her be happy... ahh :(
also idk what to think of this but i’m pretty sure john paul gave her an emerald necklace for christmas and according to the bad sisters wikipedia page, the show was originally titled emerald. hmm
grace name meaning: goodness and generosity
bibi: sarah greene... HELLO bibi. spare hand in marriage? the first sister who actually considered carrying out a plan... perhaps i’m reading too much into it but the whole thing with the taxidermy badger eye popping out at the beginning of the opening sequence and the fact that in episode 2 eva says “i know what he did. if anyone deserves to hate him—” to which bibi replies “this isn’t revenge”... makes me think john paul had something to do with her right eye, though i’m not sure when she got that injury based off the pictures we see of the sisters in the opening sequence
bibi name meaning (though it could be a nickname for something else): lady of the house, life
becka: eve hewson reminds me SO much of aisling bea in terms of physical appearance, and even becka reminds me of aine (this way up), with them being the youngest sister and starting their own businesses lol. i’m not sure what to make of her crying at the funeral (which bibi reads as pretend crying) and eva telling her that everything bad that could have happened has [already] happened... hmm. also not sure about her wearing that bright pink sweater/being the only one to not wear black in the promo imagery (i know she was wearing the sweater on her way to the funeral and took it off when she got there), like at the very least it could just be a manifestation of her personality and being the youngest sister who shared the least amount of years of knowing grace (the other sisters telling her that grace was different before john paul “[sucked] the life out of her”). anyway she and matt are kinda cute. interesting to know that she hasn’t met thomas yet and none of the sisters know she’s talking to matt
becka name meaning (might be a shortened version of rebecka): to bind/tie
matt: daryl mccormack! i like how he’s handling the “case” in general and how he views it/approaches things compared to his half-brother, though it’s understandable why he is still working with thomas to try to save the family business. since he has his own dreams of being a bass player, we’ll see how things go...
matt/matthew name meaning: gift of god
thomas: brian gleeson... i know thomas has his motivations for the family business and taking care of his wife but omg. stealing eva’s trash for “evidence” and tricking a widow into signing a permission form to exhume her dead husband’s body is not the way to go. though i guess he has to go to certain lengths for his family just as the garvey sisters aimed to protect grace and each other
thomas name meaning: twin
john-paul: claes bang is doing a good job of portraying “the prick” john paul. he can be “charming” when he’s with grace and blanaid but when he switches modes it’s like... oh no :( the amount of times i had to raise my hand to my face in shock whenever that man on screen... truly despicable character
john paul name meaning: humble and gracious
other thoughts... not sure what to think about the neighbor who keeps asking about the boat and said goodbye to grace at the funeral... hmm
big tangent here but i think i saw a headline that mentioned big little lies and i definitely see similarities, like the monterey five and the five garvey sisters, and a death in each story. the main differences being we know who dies at the beginning of bad sisters, while we don’t know who dies in big little lies until the end, and the abuse celeste was subject to was mainly behind closed doors and none of the other monterey five knew until trivia night, meanwhile the garvey sisters know john paul is a prick early on.
anyway yeah i know claffin & sons is/are the new “antagonist(s)” (seeing that john paul is dead at the start of the story) since they’re trying to prove the garvey sisters’ fraud to void the insurance claim but hmm, we have two sibling groups (garvey sisters and claffin brothers) who both want to protect their families in some respect. and we have becka and matt in a kind of romeo and juliet situation? i guess? idk but if we get a tragic ending... :( but it’s a dark comedy though so idk
all that being said i’m looking forward to the rest of bad sisters (i do wonder how the story will unfold in 8 more episodes/10 total. it seems like a lot to work with) and i’m very interested in watching the original series to compare!

Kyousougiga Watchthrough
Tumblr media
Episode 1: A Family's Circumstances and its Background
uhm... holy shit
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Obviously, the first thing here is that the show feels very FLCL. Same kind of sporadic style of storytelling, with Gainax (like) visuals, lots of hints for stuff to be explored later that have few explanations now, and awesome music (tho obviously not the same type of music).
I'll admit, it was a bit difficult to keep track of everything that was going on, cause a lot happened very fast, but I think I followed along pretty well.
Visually, it is just gorgeous. Narratively; super fun concepts, already got some solid emotional hooks, and all around just felt like a fairy-tale come to life. I'm not sure what I'm getting into here, but I'm here for it.
Episode 2: What Came Was a Little Sister
Kyousougiga continues to be one of the most stunningly directed series I've ever seen with its second episode. Watching this show is like magic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Narratively, it's still a bit difficult to keep up with, but I think it's more of an experience rather than keeping up with the plot specifics.
It seems like the show is structuring this with each episode centering around one character's PoV and then we'll pull it together in the second half.
I think it did a good job of tying us into Koto's backstory and motivation, but it's really just the gorgeous art direction, Shiina Gou's orchestral score, etc, which makes it so special. I can't tell if the story yet will come to match, but I'm here for it.
Also, great opening. Awesome visuals, but I really love the song too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Episode 3: The Eldest and his Happy Science Team
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not much to say about EP 3. It continues to be a beautifully directed show, and while I'm not blown away by the story or anything yet, I am interested in seeing where it'll go, as it's obviously still laying out the groundwork, establishing our character motivations.
Episode 4: The Second Daughter and her Wonderful Monsters
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
EP 4 is Yase's episode, who doesn't care as much about going to the outside world, but just wants her Mother back. Like all the siblings really, it's about their love for their parents and the desire to be with them again. It's a very emotionally warm theme.
Episode 5: The Worries, Beginning, and Ending of the Young Third Son
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm not resonating overtly with Kyousougiga or anything, but presentation-wise, it is just the best anime has to offer. Solid, emotionally based themes as well, so might pull something together for me a bit later on. Had a good time with EP 5 as well either way.
Got Penguindrum vibes from the cardboard cutout-like people.
Tumblr media
Episode 6: A Story Where Two Plan and One Worries
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
EP 6 confirms that Myoue is suicidal because he never got over it the first time. He loves his "parents", but at the same time, they brought him back and made him unable to die, without his consent. I'm expecting their reunion to not just be a jolly good time.
A lot of previously unspoken resentment rising to the surface all at once between the siblings here.
Tumblr media
Episode 7: Mom's Back, and Oh, Dad's Back, Too
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
EP 7 has their mother returning, and the siblings react perfectly in character. Yase is overjoyed, Kurama is a bit distant as he's suspicious, and Myoe is distant as well but because of his personal resentment. Good stuff.
Episode 8: Troublesome Talks Here and There
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
EP 8 introduced a bunch of world-building drama with all the planes at the risk of being destroyed, which I don't really care about as much as the family stuff, but still some good stuff there and I'm not too worried about it or anything. Looks nice as usual.
Episode 9: Let's All Think about What We Can Do
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's sweet how the fake siblings Inari created to keep Myoue company were the ones that ended up helping him more than their dad ever did. They might've been created to comfort you, but that doesn't mean their feelings aren't true.
Episode 10: A Manga Movie About People Who Have a Fun, Busy Life!
Kyousougiga's finale wrapped everything up pretty much perfectly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Overall Thoughts:
Tumblr media
What a directorial debut Kyousougiga was for Matsumoto Rie. Can't say the narrative resonated with me especially, but it's still a good story about family love. Its gorgeous aesthetics, rich direction, and spectacular soundtrack make it that much of an experience either way.

re kate and edwina, i think objectively the biggest problem with s2 is pacing and how rushed the last several episodes, or actually, the second half feels, and why it feels like what you mentioned wasn't entirely resolved. and if charithra isn't coming back for s3, then we can't even assume they deliberately left it to be further developed in subsequent seasons. a hugely unpopular opinion, but i didn't actually hate most of s2 plots, i don't think k&e's relationship was that badly done, at least the gist of the conflict, it just seems super rushed in the end. and it winds up being like, 5-6 episodes of tension/build-up, 6-7 is like a fallout and then 8th is like, everything is wrapped up nicely now very quickly and a lot of it offscreen. and i don't actually mind that not every conversation between kate, mary, edwina, was shown, we didn't need to see everything, but together with other issues with the writing, the season imo ends up feeling unbalanced. (another my opinion is that many fans were disappointed bc they wanted edwina to be a superficial background character whose only purpose would be to be a kathony cheerleader. the book edwina is hardly a well-rounded character to be realistic)
Yeah pacing is a huge issue in season two, which is a shame because if the pacing was more balanced I would like to believe some of these issues wouldn't be so severe.
Up until the announcement that Charithra isn't coming back, I just kinda foolishly assumed that all of the Sharmas would be permanent fixtures in season three (but in retrospect I think it was probably more fuelled by the fact that I connected to their family more than the other Bridgerton families for some reason).
I have a complicated relationship to the subplots of season two (or the other plots, I guess I might call them). Theoretically, I wouldn't have minded them but, I think, for me, the biggest problem is that unlike s1, the subplots in s2 were not really connected in any way to the main arc. In s1, the subplots would eventually reveal something to either Daphne or Simon or mirror the journey they were at, etc. That made all the different bits feel like part of a whole. I did not have the same feeling with regards to season two (and even upon rewatching it again I feel the same). It makes the subplots, to me, feel like filler or like I'm not entirely sure why I'm watching it. Penelope's story I guess was set up for s3, Eloise's arc I'm still not entirely sure what the main point of it was aside from the fight with Penelope (like the stuff with Theo I'm not sure what they were going for there).
Because season two felt like they lacked a bit of narrative connective tissue (if you will), I wonder if that's why the lack of Sharmas in s2 stands out to me? Like, if we can now sadly dispense with the idea that they get more space in s3 😢, they constantly hinted at backstories and plots (like Mary's whole deal etc) and the lack of showing any of those things stands in stark contrast to the intricate insight we got into the Featherington's financial situation. I think being shown everything would indeed be excessive, but there were certain things that I think they could have given maybe five more minutes to, at least for the stuff that really matters (which at least to me would include the relationship between Edwina and Kate considering they were both sort of vying for the attentions of the same man and a lot of Kate's conflict was how what she wanted went against the good of her family).
That's at least my general take that I'm gradually building as to why I feel like season two felt so unbalanced. That in combination with, as you say, they had to squeeze so much into the last two episodes. So I'm not necessarily disagreeing with what you're saying but complementing it with my own take, if you will.
Not an expert on the books but I agree that book!Edwina was hardly a well rounded character (but she wasn't bad) and I didn't mind the sheltered spoiled younger sister vibe they went with her on the show (I don't understand entirely all the Edwina hate I hear being floated around) and I definitely like she got more of her own identity with flaws etc. so no complaints from me on that score.
Thank you so much for your ask ❤️

I swear on my life every American show I get invested in does this with their ships they just break them up get them with other people break the new couple up and then just do the process over and over again until the entire ensemble of characters have dated each other it’s so unsatisfying
I wish I could say I disagree but I feel like I've watched American television change drastically throughout the years, mostly for the worst.
We went from 22 to sometimes 30+ episodes in a season, having long story arcs that played out over multiple episodes or an entire season, clear journeys for characters, writers who knew their characters and were authentic in their storytelling, to now 8 episode seasons being standard for streaming networks' series where it seems characters are a different person from one episode to the next directly contradicting a former storyline of theirs, and 'arcs' that get introduced and wrapped up in one episode never to be mentioned again.
Original Recipe 90210 had 10 seasons and they looked like this: Season 1 - 22 episodes Season 2 - 28 episodes Season 3 - 30 episodes Season 4 - 32 episodes Season 5 - 32 episodes Season 6 - 32 episodes Season 7 - 32 episodes Season 8 - 32 episodes Season 9 - 26 episodes Season 10 - 27 episodes
Can you even imagine this nowadays?
It's funny though because I've come to really admire how British television seems to work. From what I've seen they're also shorter seasons and only a a few (it seemed for a long time 3 seasons was common), but they come in with a very clear idea of what story they want to tell, and a plan to tell that story well and then get out and move on to the next project.
I WISH American shows would adopt that same mindset now that things are trending towards shorter seasons.
More than anything I watch so many shows nowadays and get the feeling that the writers come in only knowing the story they're telling for a season or two, and after that they end up grasping for a story to keep telling and end up ruining the show.
I wish as Americans we could understand that it's ok to end something when the story is done rather than keep on hanging on for dear life and staying too long at the party.
The good news is that it makes the exceptions to this even more wonderful and easier to spot. Lots of great television happening, just unfortunately seems to very much be the exception rather than the norm.
I also feel like part of that is the kind of writing and show-running quality we give opportunity to and accept rather than striving for something better. But that's a whole other conversation.
All that being said, I kinda see htmtms falling into this trap of perhaps not knowing where it's going in the long run and now starting to fall apart as a result. It could truly be because of losing Olivia and having to regroup. But I'm not a big fan of this season or the new feel of the show. I've come to accept that the show I loved and found such comfort and joy in is simply gone and won't be the same, and have come really far in letting it go. It's unfortunate but it's not the first time outside circumstances have effected a show or ship or characters I love. I do hope it's the last though.
