Hey!
Can't make it to women's land but want to support it? Want to support global majority women/women of color? Please share this post:
Empower Women of Color at Big Mouth Girl!
We’re raising funds to ensure that Women of Color can attend Big Mouth Girl (BMG). Your contribution will make it possible for Women of Color to access this event without the undue burden of financial constraints.
Racism coupled with misogyny result in an uneven playing field that disadvantages Women of Color. This becomes evident when Women of Color are trying to safely access nature and lack the transportation and funds to do so. We are dedicated to ensuring that Big Mouth Girl is a multi-racial event where Black, Indigenous, and Women of Color (BIWOC) are not financially hindered in coming together for support and celebration of their culture and identities.
How You Can Help: 100% of your generous donation will go directly to a needs-based scholarship to help Women of Color attend BMG 2024.
Your contribution isn’t just financial; it’s a statement of solidarity and a commitment to equity.
Please donate now. Together, we can help level the playing field for Women of Color!
Click on Fig Ally, then BIWOC fund to donate.

It took Gayili Marika Yunupingu a whole day to decide to turn down $3 million.
Mining giant Rio Tinto had approached the Yolngu elder about a plan to relocate the women’s shelter she oversees in the remote north-east Arnhem Land community of Galupa, about 640 kilometres east of Darwin.
But the local matriarch was not prepared to jeopardise the success of the all-women’s community she helps lead or put at risk the ancient links between her people and the land.
“I thought ’what if I lose the land? Where will I go? Without the land, I am lost,” Ms Yunupingu told The Australian Financial Review.
“I am lost if I go for the money.”
The community is protected by a pack of 15 dogs, and Rio Tinto’s operations are next door. The expansion plan risked the women’s extraordinary success in stemming suicide rates, and Ms Yunupingu is on call 24 hours a day for locals facing a crisis.
“Nobody wanted to stand up and see the problem that was happening in our community,” she said.
“My family said ‘enough is enough’. Along the line, we lost a young sister with suicide and that made us stand up and take action. We decided to do something with the lights of our mobile phone, sitting waiting quietly.”
Nationally, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people take their own lives at a rate twice as high as the non-Indigenous population. An Indigenous woman is as much as 45 times more likely to experience domestic violence than a white woman.
After turning down outside money, Ms Yunupingu and local community members are fundraising for critical upgrades to ensure they can continue supporting women. The targeted amount is $100,000.

Israel is Intentionally targeting press in Gaza beacuse they know they are committing mass war crimes and genocide and doesn't want the world to see it. But they take to twitter to provide fake evidence against Palestine, which has been proved as fake hundreds of times. The villainization of the Palestinian people is outrageous. The audacity is un real.

What’s the hardest thing about living on womyn's land
ok i gotta come clean. my instinct was to lie and say the hardest thing is like, the amount of manual labor or idk, staying warm in the winter. but this an easy question. we've asked this question at other wimmins lands and their answer is usually the same as ours: getting along. ive only been on tumbler a couple of weeks and i already see that this problem is here on radblr too.
here on the land right now we're really really lucky because we residents get along. we have our disagreements and bad moments but we love each other and enjoy spending time together. that wasnt always the case here! this used to be a place wimmin didnt even want to visit because it was so unfriendly. now after much hard work, we have more visitors than ever. and the vast majority of our visitors are kind and reasonable wimmin who come here to enjoy the land and socialize with other wimmin. but nobody is perfect yall. kind and reasonable wimmin also do and say rude and unreasonable little things. these kinds of little things can turn into feuds if the wimmin involved dont have the conflict resolution skills to handle it. also, not all wimmin are kind and reasonable! some wimmin are totally unlikable! some wimmin come here with no intention of getting along at all! some wimmin come here to get drunk and throw things! some wimmin attend events just to start arguments! and all of those wimmin still deserve female only space.
so how do we deal with difficult wimmin? how do we deal with difficult moments? we do our best but sometimes there's nothing we can do. sometimes we make it worse. and sometimes we are the difficult ones. me, i have chronic pain and was raised with a "eat or be eaten" mindset. being difficult comes plenty natural to me! but puttin in the extra effort to have compassion even when u feel like being mean is worth it. and so we try and we try again.
we have a great little community here. i really believe that every womon who comes here wants the best for the land. but we all show it in different ways, and some wimmin are perhaps more passionate than others. some have more self control than others. some have more hurt than others. and some had never once been in a space where they could express themselves freely until they came here. even the most calm and collected womon can fall apart if she finds herself in a safe enough space. it's important for wimmin to have space to be ugly and difficult. it's hard to hold that space, but not as hard as not having that space at all.
anyways, thank you for your excellent question. i guess what im trying to say is that being nice can be really hard, but it's important to try. we can practice on each other!

Name A Tree: Tianda Mims "Lady T"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Name A Tree is an ongoing project that honors beloved individual women or women’s groups while providing much-needed funding for The Land.
Name A Tree is somewhat like our equivalent of adding a name to a park bench. Of course, we don’t make plaques and hammer them into trees; and no one gets to actually own or keep a tree. There is a virtual tour online with a directory; each named tree has its own geocode and is easily findable on the virtual tour.

Things Biden and the Democrats did, this week. #6
Feb 16-23 2024
The EPA announced 5.8 billion dollars in funding upgrade America's water systems. 2.6 billion will go to wastewater and stormwater infrastructure, while the remaining $3.2 billion will go to drinking water infrastructure. $1 billion will go toward the first major effort to remove PFASs, forever chemicals, from American drinking water. The Administration all reiterated its plans to remove all lead pipes from America's drinking water systems, its spent 6 billion on lead pipe replacement so far.
The Department of Education announced the cancellation of $1.2 billion in student loan debt reliving 153,000 borrowers. This is the first debt cancellation through the Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) Plan, which erases federal student loan balances for those who originally borrowed $12,000 or less and have been making payments for at least 10 years. Since the Biden Administration's more wide ranging student loan cancellation plan was struck down by the Supreme Court in 2023 the Administration has used a patchwork of different plans and authorities to cancel $138 billion in student debt and relieve nearly 4 million borrowers, so far.
First Lady Jill Biden announced $100 million in federal funding for women’s health research. This is part of the White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research the First Lady launched last year. The First Lady outlined ways women get worse treatment outcomes because common health problems like heart attacks and cancer are often less understood in female patients.
The Biden Administration announced 500 new sanctions against Russian targets in response to the murder of Russian dissident Alexei Navalny. The sanctions will target people involved in Navalny's imprisonment as well as sanctions evaders. President Biden met with Navalny's widow Yulia and their daughter Dasha in San Francisco
The White House and Department of Agriculture announced $700 Million in new investments to benefit people in rural America. The projects will help up to a million people living in 45 states, Puerto Rico, and the Northern Mariana Islands. It includes $51.7 million to expand access to high-speed internet, and $644.2 million to help 158 rural cooperatives and utilities provide clean drinking water and sanitary wastewater systems for 578,000 people in rural areas.
The Department of Commerce signed a deal to provide $1.5 billion in upgrades and expand chip factories in New York and Vermont to boost American semiconductor manufacturing. This is the biggest investment so far under the 2022 CHIPS and Science Act
the Department of Transportation announced $1.25 billion in  funding for local projects that improve roadway safety. This is part of the administration's Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program launched in 2022. So far SS4A has spent 1.7 billion dollars in 1,000 communities impacting 70% of America's population.
The EPA announced $19 million to help New Jersey buy electric school buses. Together with New Jersey's own $45 million dollar investment the state hopes to replace all its diesel buses over the next three years. The Biden Administration's investment will help electrify 5 school districts in the state. This is part of the The Clean School Bus Program which so far has replaced 2,366 buses at 372 school districts since it was enacted in 2022.
Bonus: NASA in partnership with Intuitive Machines landed a space craft, named Odysseus, on the moon, representing the first time in 50 years America has gone to the moon. NASA is preparing for astronauts to return to the moon by the end of the decade as part of the Artemis program. All under the leadership of NASA Administrator, former Democratic Senator and astronaut Bill Nelson.

One of the points of Greta Thunberg's book about the Climate, was about female land ownership, and how we need an increase of it. That actually surprised me, not that I didn't think of it before, but because it was presented as one of the solutions.
Greta actually looked at what happens to the land when women reign over it, or when women even just have access to it and are allowed to work on it, and noticed that women almost always, naturally, regenerated the land. Women will go and plant trees on their land immediately, and feed their families with the produce it makes. Women will not even stop at planting trees on their land, they'll go and re-forest the surrounding areas too, sharing secrets of the trees with others who can benefit from the extra free food. Women will plant native species, bushes, flowers, gardens, revitalize the soil, add life to the dirt and the sand, and this is something that is recorded consistently and long term with the female land ownership, land is not only regenerated, but used for immediate benefit of all life on it. That includes humans, animals, bugs, bacteria, plants and the local environment in general.
Greta also points out that most of the land that women are working on, is currently not their own. They're most often lending their hands to the land owned by their husbands, brothers, uncles, relatives or landlords, and these m*n will sometimes decide to undo all that work, and build something environmentally destructive on it in order to make a personal profit.
This is why Greta implores that is important that women own more land, personally and with full power over what happens to it. Women having full control over land is nature's way of regeneration and prevention of climate change. Give land to the women to fight climate change.
