There's much going on in the scene where Simon basically expresses his disinterest in labeling himself (outside of "baz-sexual" lol which sounds funny but that's Simon genuinely communicating something with the vocabulary he has available). I think the funniest thing though is that he's basically like "I don't know shit but let me tell you nothing about my relationship with Agatha can be used to say I'm bisexual, especially not sex". And by funny I mean kinda sad and a bit concerning actually.

On a more serious note, I think it's really interesting to see how Simon reacts to different labels. He never really wonders whether he's bisexual, his struggles with attempting to define identity are entirely centered on his feelings for Baz. He even finds a way to, I kid you not, make female boobs about Baz. Gay and Baz-sexual are the only labels he wrestles with, and even gay is something he considers because Baz is a man. It's also interesting that this doesn't change even when presented with the possibility that bisexuality could be a word that describes his experiences.

I think so much is encapsulated here. First of all, Simon does struggle with internalized homophobia (that hesitation before the whole man and boy exchange), and we see him trying to move past that in the third book (Baz noting he gets off with public displays of affection despite "worrying about looking gay" and how that's probably connected, the "gay at ikea" scene). But I don't think he struggles with internalized biphobia–it's just not even on his radar at all. Simon can be very quick at solving things once he has enough information, and I doubt he needed any time to realize why his boyfriend, who knows he has an ex-girlfriend, might think he's bisexual. And he's put off by the idea. Look at that No being italicized for emphasis. He has such a strong rejection of being labeled as bisexual, and I think this is all about him rejecting the idea of his past relationship with Agatha being understood as romantic love and sexual attraction, even before he finally processes and voices that "it was all just going through the motions, I'm not sure I even felt anything at all".

Worth noting that he's in agreement with Agatha on this. She was there, and in hindsight, she doesn't think the guy was ever into her (a feeling she already manifest when breaking up with him, when she's describing their relationship as feeling non-existent, and still feeling unwanted after being together for 3 years)

She equates this to the way Baz, known homosexual, was never into her either.

Worth noting too that the label conversation is at the beginning of the chapter that has Simon dragging himself kicking and screaming (literally) through the realization that he was never really into Agatha in that way, he just assumed that must be it while they were dating, ignoring anything that indicated otherwise. But Simon really had to be aware of this on some level that he just wasn't acknowledging for him to be able to reach some answers when Baz's questions make him look back. Again, the rejection of seeing his past relationship with Agatha as romantic love/attraction had to be there on a subconscious level for him to have the instinct to be put off by being labeled in this way because of it.

In comparison, he's much more nuanced and complicated about gay as a label. He's not prepared to think about it at the beginning, but it's something he keeps coming back to. He says he's not gay "immediately" here but at the end of the chapter he goes "maybe this makes me gay, or maybe this just makes me yours". And this is all because of his feelings for Baz. He's not ever like "I'm into dudes in general so I reckon that makes me gay". The questioning is always in the line of "the love of my life is a man, does that make me gay?" and he brings up the possibility of only being into Baz more than once... which takes me to Baz going "if he's not gay or bi what does that leave? straight is certainly not an option" and well! It leaves the ace spectrum, for instance, my good guy.

I also think Simon going "I never thought I was straight, I never thought about my sexuality at all" is interesting, because even though it aligns with how he lived for so long not really thinking, part of being allosexual is knowing instinctively when you're experiencing attraction too, and it's an acespec experience to need forever to decide if you're feeling attracted to strangers. And Simon really can't offer examples of him feeling attraction that doesn't involve Baz! In fact, he says it to himself: he has only ever wanted Baz, and he's thinking this in the context of thinking about sex.

In short: everything about Simon rejecting bisexuality is about him rejecting the idea that he felt romantic love/attraction for Agatha, and everything about him wrestling with the gay label is centered on his feelings for Baz.

I remember somewhere you said you’re very visual about your writing process which is why Jake’s stupid moustache had to go.

:D ! Y'all ask me such great questions :D

The short answer to this question is 80% of the time no jalksdf. The fics I've been writing lately (comics, Moon Knight) are already a visual medium, so obviously I do just kind of use what the characters actually look like in the comic I most strongly identify with them or the TV show. In the end everything sorts out into a really generic mental animation style that's not really anything in particular. The longer answer is that I fucking WISH I did because my actual lifestyle gets so fucking messy. Like all of this actually severely really bothers me nonstop.

Because so much of what I write is multimedia I can't just play the OG work in my brain. Hey, do the other SW writers who think visually have the problem of like - so Obi-Wan in your mind is live action from ROTS, but Ahsoka is CGI from TCW, and Anakin is either live action ROTS or cartooney if he's younger than 19, and the clones are simultaneously live action Jango Fett and CGI clones and it makes it KINDA hard to visualize things? And the exact same issue when writing comic fics with a cast that is half live action and half cartooney in your brain? Like, am I the only one with this issue?!

It is so problematic for the new story bc of 3 different works with so many different art styles. Mr. Knives Trigun has a highly stylized 90s anime appearance that I don't think of him as, and a super realistic modern CGI appearance with which is how I think of the character, except none of that works for MY Knives, and obviously Millie is 90s anime, and Meryl is some sort of demented mix, Brad & Luida are 300% CGI, and Wolfwood is fucking impossible since he's from one hyper-super stylized woodcut-ass flashback of the CGI anime and AGH. Imagine new Knives Trigun as the 'I'm a healer but' meme guy because that's all I can fucking give you.

Again like this like 'Meg is this an actual problem you have when writing Star Wars, Comics, and Trigun' and the answer is that it's a BIG PROBLEM that BUGS ME. How the fuck do you guys live??? Is this just me?!?!

In brighter but equally uselessly complicated news, New Wave was more complicated since everybody was really specifically designed in my mind in a specific animation style and since I can't draw Y'all Will Never Know it. Obviously it was very 00s animation - you can really safely imagine Bruce as himself from the 00s Batman cartoon. I really liked how much sleeker and skinnier and younger he looks in that design! Steph has the BIG hair from her first Robin arc and Tim has Jake Animorph style Generic 90s Relatable Teen Boy visuals.

Sorry that's not a very fun answer and also not a very real answer :( Fancasts that I do genuinely have is, obviously, all for TMA:

Delicate - Chapter 3

Sometimes when I look into your eyes I pretend you're mine, all the damn time

Late November quickly snuck up on Haechan as he noticed the cafe near campus was vividly less busy for a Wednesday afternoon, with only a few people hunched over their laptops. His final midterm exam ended earlier in the morning and knowing that Jeno and Jaemin would be wrapping up their presentations, he asked them if they wanted to grab coffee. Finding a comfy table tucked into the corner by the window, the three of them filed in with their bags and laptops.

“Oh by the way, my sister is stopping by later this afternoon. We're driving down to our parents for the weekend,” Jaemin absentmindedly mentioned to Haechan and Jeno as his half-shut eyes shifted across his laptop screen. He rested his chin on his palm while he lazily took a sip of his iced americano.

Haechan and Jeno exchanged confused expressions before shifting their attention to their friend across the table. Jaemin had only mentioned his sister twice during their entire friendship.

The first time was when she called Jaemin at two o'clock in the morning pleading that she needed someone to go to the nearest urgent care with her. It was right after finals week during the winter of their third year. Mark had invited himself over to Haechan's apartment, subtly mentioning that he was bringing over something to help them relax. Haechan didn't know what to expect, but when Mark pulled out the edibles from his bag all he could do was chuckle to himself.

As they all blankly stared at the obscure ‘90s cartoon that Mark decided to put on, the sudden sound Jaemin’s phone pulled Haechan out of his trance. He could hear a distressed muffled female voice on the other side of the line, but his stoned mind couldn't comprehend who it was.

“Seriously? You can't have your roommate take you?”

She responded back hoarsely, and Haechan could tell she was on the verge of tears or already crying.

“You're really lucky I’m not high right now,” Jaemin sighed in defeat. “I’ll meet you at my apartment in ten, yeah?”

As he hung up, a curious Jeno and Mark giggled, trying to shush each other through tears as if they could get caught at any moment.

“Who's the lady,” Jeno barely managed to get out as he locked eyes with Mark, who fell to the ground wheezing as he wiped away his tears.

Not giving in to their shenanigans, Jaemin picked up his sweatshirt from the couch and slowly got up to make his way to the door.

“For your information, it was my sister you dick heads,” Jaemin deadpanned as pulled his hoodie over his head and slid his feet into his slides. As he glanced back at his friends behind him, all he could see were statues. Not one noise or movement came from them, just empty stares as their fried brains tried to piece everything together. He decided to leave them in this state, never mentioning it again. Haechan figured Jaemin thought they were all too faded to remember. He was sure Jaemin had his reasons and Haechan never pressed him about it.

Haechan knew little about her, and he would be lying to himself if he said he wasn't curious. Would she look like Jaemin but with long hair? Was she the party type? Or maybe she was more academic, with her head down in books at the library. As Haechan imagined her with an oversized sweater, pleated tennis skirt, and wire-frame glasses, he could feel his face heat up. Shit, why was he fantasizing about his friend’s sister? He secretly hoped she wasn't insanely attractive. If she was, it would only complicate things if he ever met her. In that split moment, Haechan wondered if this was why Jaemin never introduced them.

“Hello, earth to Haechan,” Jeno teased as he waved his hand in Haechan’s face.

“What's got you all flushed,” Jaemin chimed in as he peered over around his laptop, wearing a shit-eating grin.

Haechan stared at his friends as he tried to come up with an excuse, but he knew he had to divert their pestering. Without stalling for too long, he curled lips into a sleazy smile. “Wouldn't you two like to know?”

His friends rolled their eyes in disgust, letting out a tired “ugh” in unison.

“Nevermind, would much rather you keep whatever pervy shit you're gonna say to yourself,” Jeno said with a sour face.

They stayed at the cafe for a bit longer, the conversation trailing off as they became immersed in their own business. It was calm, Haechan thought as he listened to the jazzy music coming from the speakers. His americano was now empty, with the watery remnants left at the bottom of the disposable cup.

As they began the trek back to their apartment, Haechan noticed the sky started to turn a dark gray as a breeze blew through the remaining leaves on the tree-lined street. Haechan never hated the winter, but gray autumn days like this always made him feel nostalgic. He felt a sudden longing for home in his heart, but the logical part of him knew he would have to wait a bit longer before he could go back to Korea. A few drops began to hit the crown of his head, but the rain never got heavier until they were inside.

Claiming the whole couch to himself, Haechan stretched out his legs and crossed his arms behind his head. The sound of the constant heavy rain against the window almost lulled him to sleep, but the unexpected small knocks from the apartment door made him perk his head up from the couch.

“Don't even think about it,” Jaemin shouted from his room on the other end of the hallway.

As he watched Jaemin make his way into the living room, Haechan couldn't help but curiously glance at the door from his peripherals. The door creaked open to leave only a sliver, with Jaemin blocking his view. Damn, Haechan thought. It was almost comical how obvious Jaemin was acting but it was his sister after all.

“Are you going to let me in,” she sighed, pausing for a beat.

“If you promise not to judge,” Jaemin responded in a joking manner as he stepped aside. Taking in the state of their apartment, her eyes wandered around before landing on Haechan.

“Haechan, meet my sister Ji Woo,” Jaemin introduced as he walked into the kitchen. “I take it you want some coffee?”

“Sure,” she responded as she plopped onto the armchair adjacent to the couch Haechan occupied. Ji Woo gave him a tired smile of acknowledgement as she familiarized herself with her surroundings. She let out a small sneer when she saw the clear display on the wall that was filled with beer bottle caps.

“Oh, that? You have to throw the cap in the small hole at the top for it to go in,” Jeno gestured as he came out of his bedroom. “Wanna take a shot?” he said as he took the seat next to Haechan.

“I’m good, thanks,” she chuckled as she unwrapped the scarf from her neck. The pungent odor of cigarettes hit Haechan’s nose instantly, but for some reason it made him feel relaxed.

She was pretty, he admitted to himself. Although he could tell she was tired, with shimmering makeup still lingering around her eyes from the night before. Her dark brown hair was tangled from her haphazardly wrapped scarf and her lips were chapped from the cold. As Haechan unconsciously let his eyes follow her features, his musing was cut short when her attention suddenly flickered towards him. When he met her eyes, the air in his lungs instantly became thick and heavy. Her irises were a mix of warm chocolate and velvet caramel swirled with gold flecks.

“Coffee’s ready,” Jaemin interrupted Haechan’s musing as the machine beeped.

“Coming,” Ji Woo responded as snapped her head away from Haechan.

Her eyes alone left his heart pounding in his chest. It was almost unsettling how much it affected him. There was something that reached deeper beyond the surface of her hazel pools that he wanted to explore. Haechan couldn't pinpoint what was so inviting about her in that exact moment, but he only knew that he craved more.

Once Ji Woo returned from the kitchen with her hands wrapped around a steaming mug, she took her previous spot in the armchair. Jaemin followed shortly after, forcibly sticking himself in the small empty spot between Jeno and Haechan.

“Did you finish packing?” Ji Woo asked, taking a small sip of her coffee. Haechan didn't want to be obvious, but it was hard to keep his eyes off of her.

“Yup. I’m ready to go whenever you are,” Jaemin replied, his attention split between his phone.

“How long are you guys staying for?” Jeno asked.

“Uh, just until Sunday I think,” Jaemin said, his eyes locking on his sister for confirmation before he turned his attention over to Haechan. “Haechan, you know you're still welcome to come too. I know it's hard during the holidays.”

While Haechan thought it was a nice gesture, he didn't want to impose on his friend’s family. Even if he would be lonely for a few days, Haechan could bear it. Loneliness was no stranger to him after all.

Before he met Jaemin and Jeno, he felt like he was just the quiet Korean kid at orientation. His English was limited at the time and he only knew a few phrases to get by. No one approached him, and he didn't have the confidence to introduce himself.

Although when he met Jaemin freshman year, he finally felt a sense of belonging. No longer worried about what others thought of him, Haechan’s social life blossomed and he never looked back.

“Are you sure?” Haechan questioned, scratching the top of his head.

“Absolutely, man. Don't worry, my mom is gonna love you,” Jaemin grinned as he threw his arm around Haechan, pulling him against his chest. Haechan thought it was the biggest he'd ever seen his friend smile.

Do y'all remember how various late 90's/early 2000's cartoons would have episodes where kids take a test in school that determines what their career should be? Was that a real thing or was it a weirdly specific trope?

(I went to a series of tiny schools based out of churches until 8th grade, so if it was a real thing I missed it)

I was looking at old furry female characters in shows and movies and decided to flip some tropes on it head so anyways this is Vixen. She is meant to be the "sexually appealing love interest" but she uses this to trick folks as she does what she wants and helps who she pleases

Her friend is an introverted skunk gal who usually helps her behind a screen or from a distance due to ya know...skunk stuff and also can bust her out of trouble by acting like a smoke screen.

for this answer, i had to finally figure out how accessible anime was in the States in the late 90s/pre-streaming era... so for most of these cast members, they aren't quite into anime yet. luckily, it is fairly obvious to me who this is a 'yes' for 😂

Kile | a very slow but very steady descent into anime fandom. the type of anime nerd that only other anime nerds would be able to clock before the 2010s. you won't see Kile perusing Hot Topic or Spencer's or wtv in the 00s solely because they've been throwing (tons of) money at authentic Japanese merch and street fashion since the very moment online translators were barely functional enough to facilitate such a thing 😂

Jack | his dad was an early anime nerd so homeboy was partly raised on anime way before most Americans were 😆 and like with most of his nerdy interests, Jack takes after his one or both of his parents. he's been watching since forever and will continue to do so 😙 he'll be fairly into anime until CrunchyRoll happens. then having easy access to almost any series will quickly take over his life 😂

Jessie | glimpsed Sailor Moon when it first started airing and enjoys it in private (it's still in early morning syndication at this point and perceived as "kids' cartoons"); she'd need to be reintroduced as an adult but she'd be so into the magical girl genre and a bunch of shoujo and shoujo-ai (and josei if the friend re-introducing her has taste ijs)

R | hell yea. They've demanded their parents pick up any and all VHS titles that even resemble anime since they were little 😅 it's really easy for me to envision them working at one of those early 00s anime shops at some point during college—before getting fired for "antagonizing customers" (which they'll refer to as "making simple recommendations to sensitive assholes")

Vi | eventually, but probably only if the MC or R gets them into it first 😆 They'd be super into fantasy, shoujo, and magical girl stuff, obviously, but eventually be mostly into josei and more serious dramatic titles. and shounen/shoujo-ai if i'm honest lol. they'll fall in love with Miyazaki's work in the future even if they never get into anime though!

Curt | um, yea... he'll get into anime via some of the more explicit titles. y'all remember when they just casually sold Bxxxx Bxxxx at FYE? 😆 I can very easily picture him walking down the anime aisle with neutral disinterest until seeing that kind of box art and taking a few steps back 😅 It'll take a few years for him to get out of hentai and finally start watching more anime—probably mostly horror and seinen, but he'll come to like yaoi, yuri, and sports anime once that shit really pops off 😂😂

honorable mention? | Rain won't get into anime because they just... don't consume enough media in their free time to really get "into" things like that. But the current iteration of Rain would not exist without me having watched Paradise Kiss at the impressionable age of 16—and they would adore Parakiss 🥰

Hello! i'm relatively new to tumblr lol so yeah.

I basically post fandom incorrect quotes, some you might know. (mlb, harry potter, sanders sides and more) and some you probably don't even know exist.

I also ship a lot of things, but some are rarepairs that some of you might enjoy.

and yeah, that's it. i'm not overall that interesting.
