LOVE the pattern of the Power Hungry Father with Two Children dynamic throughout atla and lok. Ozai/Azula/Zuko, Yakone/Noatak/Tarrlok, Unalaq/Eska/Desna. idk if it’s on purpose but it is so interesting every time

Let's Talk (Spoilers for tlok season one)
I'm rewatching tlok, and honestly it's terrifying how an experienced blood bender can kill an inexperienced avatar or one caught heavily off guard.
Yakone could have killed Aang, both times, if he were faster and Aang didn't enter the avatar state as fast as he did. It was a matter of time. Aang is, by culture, a pacifist and uses the avatar state as a last resort. If Yakone had acted a lot quicker, Aang would be dead.
This also goes to show Amon was just toying with Korra for most, if not all, the season. He had multiple situations and chances where he could have easily killed Korra but he chose not to. That's horrifying to know how small and weak you are compared to someone.

Y’know, back when this was originally airing, this was my first episode of Korra that I ever watched. (I don’t even think I knew that there was a sequel series to ATLA coming out back then, since I wasn’t online to the extent I am now.)
What a doozy of an episode it was to start out on too   😅

Skeletons in the Closet
Korra and her friends hide in a camp underground until Iroh's fleet arrives; but the fleet is promptly disabled by Equalist mines, aircraft, and torpedoes. Korra saves Iroh from drowning, and they regroup with the others. Korra and Mako go in search of Amon, while Iroh, Bolin and Asami sabotage the Equalist airbase to prevent the sinking of a relief fleet under Commander Bumi, Tenzin's older brother. Korra and Mako discover Tarrlok captive in Air Temple Island, where he apologizes for his treatment of Korra and reveals that Amon is his brother, Noatak, who ran away due to Yakone's mistreatment of his children. Meanwhile, the assault on the Equalists' mountain airbase goes poorly when the attackers fall prey to an electric fence.
Operation Beifong
Near Zaofu, Opal, Lin, and Bolin are joined by Toph and track the Beifong prisoners to a facility where Baatar Jr. and Zhu Li are testing a vine energy supercannon. A rescue plan takes form, but tensions run high between the previously estranged Toph and Lin. Zhu Li proves to have been feigning her loyalty to Kuvira and attempts to sabotage the weapon, but her effort is discovered by Kuvira. The rescue team frees the captive Beifongs, who engage Kuvira and her forces together, before being forced to flee by Kuvira's superior numbers. Lin and Toph find a measure of reconciliation. Zhu Li reveals that Kuvira is planning an imminent attack on Republic City; she is determined to retake all of the lands which the Earth Kingdom had once ceded to the United Republic. Meanwhile, Korra tries and fails to convince the spirits to help defend Republic City.
