Something has been bugging me lately; why is it that so much of the ASOIAF fandom hates romance? Like, this is a problem I've noticed and it's honestly kind of weird. To be sure, George's view on what is romantic is, uh, dubious at best, but to outright be so against it the way I've seen some people be against it is quite bizarre, to say the least.
Rhaegar and Lyanna? Of course there's no romance there! Rhaegar clearly was just using Lyanna as a baby factory to produce a super prophecy child because that's all there is to his character!
Jon and Daenerys? They won't be getting together like that dumb show! And if they are, it will be purely a political marriage! No lovey dovey stuff there!. After all Dany likes "bad boys" (which somehow translates to "evil men") so why would she like a strong, assertive man like Jon? And why would Jon like her? Not like he likes strong fiery tempered women!
Those are the two biggest examples but there is more. Daemon Blackfyre and Daenerys Targaryen are more ambiguous since they are historical characters, but a lot of people are convinced it was 100% unrequited love.
I've even seen fans complain about the line from Barristan where he thinks about how Bittersteel and Bloodraven's rivalry over the affections of Shiera Seastar caused the Blackfyre Rebellions. Like sure it wasn't the only reason, but to think that jealousy and romance didn't have an effect on those rebellions is a bit weird.
Yes, I am aware these are some problematic pairings, not least of which because most of these are pretty incestuous. However, the complaints about these romances do not stem from a moral quandary. In the case of R+L, you see people calling Rhaegar a groomer and pedophile (see my post on him on my full thoughts there), but the majority of it is simply "well it's stupid because they told no one and caused a whole war, the selfish brats" (bonus points if someone specifically targets Lyanna).
Okay, setting aside the fact that, like with the Blackfyre Rebellions, Robert's Rebellion was caused by far more factors than their elopement, why does making it an abduction Rhaegar did simply for a magic messiah baby make it a better story than the fact these two were in love and desperate to escape situations they felt trapped in, leading to shortsighted decisions that had an unexpected affect on many people?
With Jon and Dany, the backlash is "but that's so cliche! George wouldn't do something as cliche as two of the biggest protagonists falling in love." As if George doesn't constantly engage with cliche storybeats as often or even more than he subverts them. Even when the evidence for the two getting together is literally so overwhelming that you'd need to be willfully ignorant to ignore the foreshadowing (plus the fact George literally said that their union is "the point of the series").
And again, I must ask; why is Jon and Dany marrying to secure a political alliance without any real love between them a better story than an epic, doomed romance between two people who have gone through such similar struggles and have such similar personalities? What does R+L=J even exist for if they are just a couple of convenience using each other?
I'm not saying you have to love and ship all these people together. Because we sometimes forget our little fandom bubble, most people are not okay with even fictional incest ships. That's okay. Sometimes it's not even incest ships, but again, that's okay! We are all different and have our preferences! Some might not even care much for romance.
But the way a lot of this is criticized doesn't read like that. It's always focusing on the negative aspects. Especially with Dany's love interests. I'm not a fan of Daario and Dany, personally, but it is a bit uncomfortable how she is targeted so heavily for thinking and getting horny about him. Like... let a girl be horny and infatuated? Lol, I don't know!
With Rhaegar and Lyanna, Prince Duncan the Small and Jenny of Oldstones, the "problem" is that their disregard for political betrothals and following their hearts makes them stupid monsters who are directly responsible for the deaths of thousands. That is absolutely not the way we should take these romances.
These doomed, tragic affairs aren't about how people are selfish. It's about the power of love. The way love makes people act rashly. The way love consumes someones thoughts and feelings. Love is powerful, it is transformative, transcending. That is the point. Even in spite of the death and chaos occurring around it, the love these people have for each other is something that cannot be broken.
I feel like the fandom has taken the wrong approach to this series tone and themes. I'm not George's biggest personal fan, to be quite honest, but he is a self described romantic. Turning Rhaegar from a lovestruck prince to a selfish crazed maniac is not romantic. Turning romance or potential romance into cold political maneuvers is not romantic.
The point of all this is that, yes, the world is dark. It's scary, it's cruel, unforgiving, and cold. But in that darkness, there are pockets of light that shine and make you feel safe, and warm, and happy. It makes you forget all the troubles around you. That light, that warmth, that love, is worth fighting for, even if it's all that is left, even if it doesn't last.
I am of course, slightly biased in my assessment, lmao. You could say that me, being a bisexual polyamorous transfemme, is maybe a bit of a big fan of romance and love! Yet, it still saddens me that people try to keep romances from just being romances, and try to make the story and world more bleak as a result. We already have Ramsay, Joffrey, Gregor, Euron, Randyll Tarly. We have people who use love against others for their own gain or outright reject it violently. We don't need more of that.

A/N: This chapter is pretty Aemond-centric
"Eyes closed, both by blade, falling into the seven hells blind, his widow will not mourn him, but will join soon after."
Those were the new cryptic words Helaena kept repeating. Vaena was no different than anyone else in the family when it came to listening to her, if she did, she might have clued in that Helaena's words were prophetic. She was too consumed by thoughts of her engagement and her affair.
"We are to be sisters soon." Helaena spoke, more lucid now. Vaena smiled.
"Yes, I am excited. You feel like a sister to me already. I cannot wait for our children to play together."
Helaena said nothing, looking away, seeming distressed, for whatever reason, it made Vaena's heart drop down to her stomach. It wasn't like a rejection, it was like she knew a terrible truth.
"Are you alright?" Vaena asked. She wanted to reach out and touch her, but she knew Helaena didn't like to be touched by many people, one of the exceptions being Aemond. She reflected on Aemond's gentleness with his sister when he was severe in every other part of life, hoping that she might receive some of the same affection when she became his wife.
Helaena started back up repeating those cryptic words from earlier.
When Vaena was getting measured for her gown, Alicent was in the room, making all the decisions and saying exactly how she felt about the fabrics and the structure of the gown. She feigned frustration, dismissing the seamstresses from the room temporarily so it was just her and Vaena, and Vaena was in nothing but a corset and some small clothes.
"Is everything alright, my queen?"
"Yes, they're doing a fine job, but I wanted a moment with you." Alicent approached her future daughter in law, her lover, tucking a silver curl behind her ear. Vaena stood on a pedestal, her chest at Alicent's eye level, making it hard for her queen to maintain a sense of propriety.
"If these get any larger, I'll have to insist you retire all those enticing dresses and wear something more modest." Alicent told her. She knew Vaena's already soft and womanly body would fill out even more. Between her and Aemond, Vaena wouldn't want for admiration and pleasure, even as the eyes of men at court would start to turn in the direction of a willowy young maiden who had just flowered.
"I don't think a high neckline will do much to hide their shape, my queen." Vaena played into her queen's flirtation, inhaling deeply so her chest would expand and encroach Alicent's line of sight even more. "And wouldn't you like to look at them at your convenience, make a terribly boring day at court more pleasing?"
"If I got everything I wanted, you wouldn't be wearing clothes and you'd be confined to my chambers."
Vaena blushed, disappointed that Alicent had the restraint to not lift her breasts from her corset and suck on them. She was unable to stop herself from stealing glances even after the seamstresses returned. Even when Alicent approved of a concept for a wedding gown, Vaena was more attentive to Alicent than she was to the gown.
If she had cared to pay more attention, she might have noticed the message that green embroidery overtaking a white, Valyrian style wedding gown would send to the realm.
Even on her wedding day, she was more focused on the loss she felt with her family not being present, having abandoned her with a lack of letters. Vaena maintained composure, even though her mind had plenty of time to stew on the topic as her hair was braided and adorned with emerald jewels, today was not the day to cry.
When Aemond saw his bride enter the sept, he was in awe of her beauty. Green suited her silver hair and violet eyes. Her womanly body, silhouetted by the daylight outside the sept, suited the quiet opulence and loud message of her gown and emerald jewels that glimmered as she walked down the aisle, she would be given away by Aegon, seeing as her father was dead. She was not only surrendering herself to him as his wife today, she, the firstborn daughter of Rhaenyra Targaryen, was declaring her surrender to King Aegon II. The Blacks would hear about this betrayal, they would have lost the precious blood of a Valyrian woman. With Helaena by Aegon's side and soon Vaena by his, Aemond knew it would further legitimize The Greens in the eyes of the realm, Rhaenyra and her Strong boys hadn't a chance in the court of public opinion.
When they exchanged vows, Vaena kept unflinching eye contact, looking at him as if he had two eyes and was unscarred. Aemond was overcome with desire for his bride, she was perfect and eager in a way Aemond believed was above someone like him, a second son, a man with one eye.
And there would be no one to gawk and grope during the bedding ceremony, he remembered being powerless to stop what happened to Helaena on her wedding night, the late King Viserys had a kingsguard restrain him when he tried to attack a man who grabbed his sister. He wasn't untouched by women or an especially pious man, but the vile nature of men of a lower station treating a princess, especially one as fair and pure as his sister, like a common whore made him see red. He'd ban the barbaric ceremony if he were King, but Aegon had no interest in getting rid of the tradition.
During the wedding feast, Vaena noticed that Aemond was vigilant of their surroundings. He did not drink more than a cup of wine, declining servants' offers for it to be refilled. He put no such restrictions on Vaena, new brides benefitted from being mellowed with wine. She maintained a warm demeanor throughout their wedding feast, Aemond would whisper observations about the guests in her ear that would make her laugh, they leaned towards each other in their seats, and Vaena's warm smiles proved contagious to her husband.
Alicent watched the newlyweds. She had hoped and prayed to see Aemond this happy on his wedding day with a beautiful bride who reacted to him the way Vaena did. She supposed she got her wish, but at the price of seeing her lover look at another affectionately and at the price of knowing she pawned off a woman she had in her bed to her own son. If the marriage was successful, Alicent hoped it would assuage her guilt.
When she congratulated them, Vaena embraced her, almost as if a daughter would her mother if she hadn't just slightly pressed her chest against hers, a hidden message of sensuality no one but them could detect.
As the night drew on, the imminence of the bedding drew closer. Vaena looked at her husband expectantly through heavy lidded eyes.
"You won't let Larys Strong touch me, will you?" Vaena spoke with dulled inhibitions, thinking how awful it would be for such a rat to get to touch her before her husband.
"I'd be willing to gut every man here, but I've devised a plan that would spare you the indignity of having to see such violence." Aemond reassured her. "Ser Criston will be creating a diversion so that we might make it out of this wedding feast with our clothes intact." Aemond whispered in her ear.
"Thank you." Vaena said, her eyes now on his lips, thin and sharp, not at all like his mother's. There wasn't really anything about him that was like his mother, his features severe and wholly those of a Valyrian man.
Vaena watched Ser Criston carefully, wondering what his plan was. She noticed that he was basically shepherding the high lords, moving the crowd around with social graces until a most explosive confrontation between the young Lords Horus Tyrell and Edmond Frey was orchestrated. The two lords were frought enemies, Edmond had taken Horus' cousin, Wynona Tyrell, as his wife and she was found dead after a year of being unable to produce an heir, Horus swore to the Gods he knew his cousin was murdered. There had been significant effort to keep House Tyrell and House Frey separate, an effort Ser Criston intentionally sabotaged.
Horus drew his sword and chaos ensued, all eyes were on the spectacle. Noble ladies screamed in terror, Aegon reveled in the spectacle, making no orders to stop it.
"That would be our cue, wife." Aemond whispered in her ear before taking her hand and leading her opposite of where the crowd was gawking and through a door utilized by the cooks and cupbearers that supplied the festivities.
They ran through the kitchens and out the door that'd take them to the direction of his chamber. Aemond wrapped his arm around her skirts, picking her up and carrying her the rest of the way.
"Your plan is going to get one of those men killed!" Vaena scolded. Aemond smirked.
"Did I not tell you earlier that I would kill every man there to keep you untouched?" Aemond sealed the rhetorical question with a kiss on his wife's soft lips reddened with wine and sensuous blood that tinged her cheeks as well.
Upon arriving to their chambers, Aemond set her down and sprung into action.
"Lock the door." Aemond ordered. Vaena did so, watching her husband drag a heavy bookcase in front of the door for extra reassurance.
"Excellent idea." Vaena said. "I told the queen that I wouldn't let you leave these chambers until I was with child." Vaena rubbed her hands around the planes of Aemond's chest and shoulders. "She wants a little army of grandchildren."
"That, I think, we can arrange." Aemond having no qualms with the idea, sealed the agreement with a kiss. If Vaena were as fertile and wanton as her mother, the realm would be so overrun with little Targaryens that Westerosi houses would start to turn Valyrian, House Tyrell looked particularly appealing for such a plot and as of tonight there'd potentially be one less Tyrell in line for the lordship.
Vaena slipped her tongue into her husband's mouth and wrapped her arms around his neck, Aemond made sure to keep her balanced, seeing as she was clumsy with wine, her body had a satisfying weight in his arms, whether he was carrying her or holding her upright.
Aemond turned her around and undid her wedding gown, thankful the garment was fairly simple. When stripped to her smallclothes, he removed the emerald ornaments in her hair, which proved harder than the gown, Vaena eventually joined in to speed up the process of letting her curls free. Aemond made short work of her smallclothes, unlacing her corset and peeling off her chemise to reveal her nude form, one as exquisite as Aemond imagined it would be.
Vaena set to work on her husband's clothes, he had not dressed much more formal for his wedding save for some extra embroidery and more green. She struggled to undress her husband as he smoothed his hands up and down her nude flesh, getting her warm and pliant for her marriage bed. What she revealed was a slender, sinewy body with a crop of coarse white-blond hair on his chest and surrounding his cock, which sprung eagerly from the confines of his smallclothes. Vaena kneeled down at the sight of it, she had never seen an adult man's cock, but her husband's had a meatiness to it that didn't match the rest of him and was practically begging to have a mouth wrapped around it.
"No." Aemond stopped her. "You can suck my cock as much as you please when you're with child, but I have no intentions of letting my seed go to waste while you still have an empty womb."
Her husband was right, as disappointed as she was, all the more reason for her to get with child as soon as possible.
Aemond, however, made sure she was on her back, her thighs pushed back until her knees were on either side of her shoulders so he could devour her pussy. He wasn't as good as his mother, but he still brought her to climax multiple times, telling her it would make her womb more receptive to his seed.
"Wait, you're not fully naked yet, husband."
Before Aemond realized what she meant, Vaena reached up to remove his eyepatch, revealing the sparkling sapphire it concealed. She gasped, Aemond thought out of horror until she told him otherwise.
"You're striking." She pet his hair to reassure him.
It was enough to make Aemond snake his way up her body, kissing and nipping her belly and breasts, until his cock stood ready against her cunt and kept intense eye contact with his bride, as though to test to see if she really thought the sapphire in his eye socket was truly bearable to look at.
Just as he was about to penetrate her, there was excited chattering outside their bedchamber. Aemond paused, the crowd made him feel anxiety about his performance.
"Fuck, of course they're going to crowd around outside the door." Aemond hissed quietly, more to himself than to Vaena.
"Well, let's give them a little show." Vaena's eyes lit up and a sultry grin curled her lips. "Oh gods, Aemond, I don't know if it'll fit inside of me!"
Aemond's pupils dilated, he was both aroused and blindsided at his new wife's boldness, a string of precum dripped onto her swollen pussy lips.
"Don't worry, it should only hurt for a moment, you're so wet for me." Aemond said, looking deeply into her eyes before filling her completely.
"Seven hells!" Vaena cried out. "It hurts but it feels so good."
Aemond groaned at the sight of her virginal blood being diluted by her arousal. "You're even lovelier than I expected." Aemond groaned. "You're so tight."
When Vaena hoped Aemond would burn brightly in their marriage bed, she hadn't expected it to be quite like this. It was wildly different from when she pleasured her queen, there was something more primal about the way her body responded to Aemond, an instantaneous heat and need that made Vaena understand why incest was the norm of their families.
With every needy, desperate thrust of Aemond's, equally desperate sounds poured from Vaena's soft lips. The intrusive crowd outside wanted a show, they were getting one, but not the one they expected of a fair maiden being horrified by a man with one eye.
"I hope your seed takes right now, the very first time having me, taking my maidenhead." Vaena made no effort to hold back her desire.
"If we're fortunate, we might have twins like my brother and sister did." Aemond played along, feeling her cunt grip even tighter around him at the suggestion of twins.
"I would want nothing more, except maybe triplets, should the gods be so generous to provide them."
When Aemond filled her with his seed, the pair of them cried out, Vaena's thighs squeezed by instinct, unrelenting for several minutes as their cries softened into panting, Aemond's softening cock was sensitive to his wife's cunt fluttering around it, trying to milk every last drop of seed, her powerful thighs, thighs of a dragonrider, kept him locked in place, his seed having time to settle into her, less would be wasted on their sheets.
"I didn't think my little brother had it in him." Aegon could be heard from behind the door. Aemond eye rolled at the comment, much to Vaena's amusement.
When the crowd eventually left, Vaena settled into Aemond's arms, spent and sated as he was.
"You still had your maidenhead." Aemond said very matter of factly.
"Of course I still had my maidenhead, I hadn't been with a man before you."
"They can be destroyed with fingers, some maesters even claim they can break while a woman's on horseback or dragonback, but that's heavily debated."
"Your mother refused to do anything with me that would break my maidenhead." Vaena told Aemond truthfully. "Not even a finger."
"My mother is a wise woman. Which is why I was surprised to find you two in bed together. She looked happy in a way I never saw her happy with Viserys, so I kept it to myself until I was told I would be marrying you."
"I hope you would not deprive her now that we are married."
"As long as you do not take another lover and make yourself available to me, I see no reason why you shouldn't entertain my mother." He set clear boundaries and Vaena did not object to them.
A couple hours before dawn, a sleepless Alicent, curiosity overriding her better judgement, decided to make use of the servant's corridors to check on Vaena and Aemond, peaking through a slight crack in the door.
The newlyweds were spent, sleeping, Vaena was possessively wrapped in Aemond's arms as his superior height formed something of a cradle for his wife to settle into, their bodies flush against each other as they slept on their sides, and Aemond was without his eyepatch, his sapphire eye catching the moonlight. She smiled to herself before returning back to her own chambers where she would sleep restlessly alone while the newlyweds still acquainted themselves in their marriage bed.
Aemond was woken up by a loud sound. He rose from his warm bed, prying himself from his sweet wife before throwing on a silk green robe to conceal his nude body. The sound came from the window, where he went to investigate and saw an unexpected sight.
"I don't think I have ever seen you up this early, brother." Aemond called down. He had not fastened his robe with enough care, his chest was exposed and his voice was still thick with sleep.
"The maesters need to confirm the purity of the bride. They won't shut up about it and decided it was my problem." Aegon informed his brother with the understanding that he was a nuisance and not in the way he generally made himself to be a nuisance.
Aemond collected the bloodstained bedsheet, trying not to stir his wife awake, and hung it out the window using two heavy objects to pin the corners down to the window sill.
"Proof enough, brother?" Aemond hissed, turning away from the window as the king laughed from below.
"Now put a babe in her cunt before her whore mother thinks to take her back. Your king commands it!"
As crude as the king put it, Aemond knew that Rhaenyra would have no qualms wedding her despoiled daughter to some traitorous house, House Stark immediately coming to mind. Aegon was right, it was imperative to get Vaena with child.
"Who's shouting so loudly at such an early hour?" Vaena asked groggily, approaching the window in a nightgown and robe she had just thrown on for modesty's sake, her mess of curls showing off just how well she had been fucked the night before.
"Sweet sister, marriage agrees with you." Aegon flattered her.
"Thank you, your grace. What brings you to our window?" Vaena rubbed her eyes, sleepily leaning on Aemond.
"Your king requires a host of nieces and nephews."
"Then I shall tear your brother away from this window and return him to our marriage bed." Vaena laughed, grabbing Aemond and dragging him back to bed... where they proceeded to sleep for a few hours more before getting back to work on making new princes and princesses.
Vaena made a risky decision and decided to lick up his scar and just before her tongue touched his sapphire, her tongue rounded around his eye socket. Aemond hadn't expected to like that as much as he did, he couldn't hold back a moan, his cock grew painfully hard and he felt a richness at the back of his throat. His eye still hurt him physically sometimes, but it seemed the area was just as sensitive to pleasure as it was to pain.
When he took her that morning, he took her from the back like a dragon would, showing little restraint and receiving no pushback as he fucked her with the ferocity of a dragon.
"You'll be the most beautiful woman in all the seven kingdoms when you're heavy with child. The realm will know you're mine." Rhaenyra was known for having chubby, healthy babies, most of them boys, Aemond hoped Vaena took after her mother in this regard.
He was steadily coming to the conclusion that Rhaenyra's scandalous behavior probably had little to do with her and more to do with the fact her father and her late husband were unwilling to tame her, and now she was in the arms of Daemon fucking Targaryen.
It would be a difficult task, but he could right the sins of his father using his beautifully wanton granddaughter.
After topping her cunt up with more of his seed, Vaena's stomach let out a loud growl. Aemond promptly had breakfast sent up, removing the book case blocking the door and putting his eyepatch back on while they waited. To their surprise, breakfast came with a tiered tray of sweets and pastries, all of Vaena's favorites, and a handwritten note of congratulations from Alicent. Vaena quickly ate the more substantive parts of her breakfast and had no trouble sampling the desserts.
"No wonder you're so soft, you have quite the sweet tooth."
"Am I too plump?" Vaena asked, a little self conscious.
"Not at all." Aemond answered, surprised by the question. She had more weight to her than other maidens at court, but such a fine shape that it added to her beauty. "Before we were wed, after a long day of training and assisting my brother and the hand with running the realm, there was not an idea in my mind so alluring as a soft bed with a soft wife."
He thought of a whore Aegon had forced upon him when they were younger who had heavy tits leaking milk, sealing a specific preference in women he had yet to develop. He thought of Helaena as she filled out after having her three children and how he wished he could have been the one to father them. He thought of how he wrapped his hand around his shaft the night before his wedding, thinking of how beautiful Vaena would look riding him, her tits so full and round and she was just a maiden.
As if she read his mind, she mounted him like a dragon, telling him that if he didn't want her figure reduced from her exertion in their wedding bed, he had best feed her the rest of her sweets as she rode him.
Over the days the pair had to each other, Vaena had proved herself hypnotically wanton and Aemond proved himself capable of keeping up. Aemond took great pain in prying himself from his marriage bed to return to his princely duties, only having the willpower to attend to them when Vaena promised she would cater to his whims when night fell.

Note
the show needs to explore how aegon and aemond being exposed to sexuality and sexually active at such a young age was likely traumatizing for them (something they unfortunately have in common with their elder sister)
tw, cw: sa, rape
yes!!!!
i really hope we see how aemond's rape (because that's what it was plain and simple) affected his own relationship with sex and intimacy. especially since we'll be seeing alys enter the picture as his lover. i hope that they'll be able to explore his views on sex outside of marital duty, and even explore if he has casual sex. as a young prince it's expected of him to be promiscuous in some ways but to me aemond doesn't seem the type. i think it'll be more interesting to make him overcompensate for his own lack of control during his first sexual act with him acting morally superior by not practicing sex outside of marriage (not even realizing that a big part of his lack of desire for it is the trauma he experienced as a child. a trauma that was never resolved)
when it comes to aegon it's clear as day that his experience with sex is so much different than aemond's. he was shown ogling the maids which could've been either just a boy discovering his sexuality or some sign of early hypersexuality. either way i get the feeling that his own early sexual encounters led to him becoming very sexually driven and deviant. which is exactly what makes him clearly not care that he raped a girl because it was just "a bit of fun" (a truly disgusting, inexcusable thing no matter what) not to mention the fact that he's the one who had to enter into a sexual relationship with his sister as a 14(?)yo.
i think that with the news of the actress who played the prostitute who took aemond's virginity coming back we'll definitely see some sort of resolution of that storyline. with aegon i feel like the best we can hope for is for the show to acknowledge his sexual trauma of having to sleep with his sister, but i wouldn't be holding onto too much hope when it comes to humanizing aegon.
(and don't even get me started on rhaenyra and how we're supposed to find her grooming sexually liberating. her being exposed to daemon's advances, from the dubious undertones of their interactions to blatant sexual interest, is nothing more than sexual trauma disguised as her being more free than other female characters. i think her relationship with harwin was fully consensual and, bastardy aside, probably very healthy too. but her groomer will never leave her, she'll always be under his influence because he made his sexual interest something normal and mundane. which is unfortunately why she can't escape him even as an adult, and worse, she doesn't want to because she doesn't know any better in a family that thrives on incest and abusing women for the happiness of their male family members)

I don't know that I want tom and greg to be canon in a cute, happy way. riding off into the sunset without a care.
not... necessarily.
though, i do think it would be plausible for them to get out together. While the real focus, at the finale, becomes the siblings alone because it always has been about them. It's Succession. The three kids are the heart, Tom and Greg are weirdly prominent side characters (i say this as someone who likes them and arguably more than the main plot- I don't want them involved as directly in the main plot, I like them best pushed to the side doing freak stuff)
Thinking of the Siblings, and their connections, this season reaffirms that Rava has been out this whole time, only hanging by a string to Kendall through his children, which he worked against last episode. Kendall has also left behind his friends in Stewy and Nate, using them but not connecting to them. Gerri, Roman's only ever support, has been getting out this season and it maybe has stuck this time- so Tom should probably get out too, because he was propping up Shiv, and she has severely hurt him the past couple episodes so he would be justified.
the weird thing here is Greg. who is not actually a Roy but has been called an "honorary kid" and whose name was on a paper, but mostly has only ever acted as Tom's support (much to his dismay, but still). This season he has been elevated to Solo Player Who Still Likes Tom For Some Reason. Last episode he both pulled a very big move and also relied on Tom and gave him information he didn't need to give, which means it's still dubious whether he's loyal to only himself, or to himself and Tom, sorta, unless the going gets too tough.
and i'm gonna personally be sooo mad if he's, like, the CEO. but he's been so weirdly prominent this season that, I am worried.
I dislike the idea, for many reasons. I don't consider him on the same level of importance or understanding as the kids. Primarily because he's not a Roy, Greg has not had the life the Roys have had. We don't have access to his internal workings by way of his relationship with his fucked up parents the way we have had for Shiv, Kendall, and Roman. I've seen many people say that he's the same breed, and I know I've seen people say one of the theses of the show is that "jesse armstrong believes people can't change who they are", but Greg was the one who had a modicum of morals at the beginning and has a eschewed them, and changed. And, yes, clearly they were not that strong to begin with if he was so easily tempted but... he did change, I believe, anyway. he's one of the only people who actually changed at all.
And maybe that's why he will get it! and maybe my fears will come true. But maybe my fears are unfounded. I am still hoping for Kendall Alone at the end, which means something needs to be done with Greg. god knows what. i wouldn't be pissed if it were riding off with Tom, though, lol.
and maybe. they will go there, give Greg CEO and i will eat my words and like it somehow. it's been known to happen, you never know what you want until you get it!

as the ranger expert what do you think/what would you like to see with ranger in 3-2? maybe a surprise return?
abbsolutelly not
Listen..cmere...I love Ranger. I love him a lot. I love him so much. I could kill for more Ranger content. Not in the yttd main story though. His story is such an excellent tragedy with Such an amazingly satisfying ending that I hope all my remaining meow meows will give me an ending with the same amount of gratification.
And now being given Sei, and context to all those lines like "[Rio Ranger] ..is not your real name" and that tear-threatening "hu...man?" from his death scene MANNNN
Ranger's in a tough spot because no one cares enough about the little shit to ever see past the Ranger doll and see a broken Sei. Rio Ranger is irredeemable, and his very.. morally dubious end is just what he needed.
Although....I said this in my last post, but I think Ranger is a reflection of Asunaro and Gashu, but also, very importantly, Safalin.. who happens to be the only one still up that could possibly know about Sei, and care at all ! Safalin is by far the most 'human' of the floormasters and its either her or meister seeing over the last main game. And sorry all meister fans (all 2 of you laughing emoji) but I am a Safalin truther !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She's dropped too many bomb lines not to possibly have a role in any 'escape endings'.
What I mean by this is that past chapter two, Ranger doesn't have anything to give us really, except Safalin motivation to rebel rise up safalin fans it will be our time
this turned into a Safalin rant very quickly hahaha my bad
tldr Ranger's completed arc is simply too perfectly tragic to be continued in any way. Would I screenshot a mention and stare at it for a very long time because it would probably mean something deeper because Ranger is a reflection of Asunaro's corruption ? Yes. Yes I would. But that's the most I'll take: a mention. I don't wanna see his face again in the main story because I don't need to.. his guest star appearance in 3b was amazing though didn't expect it 10/10

so.... i am officially done with the curse of strahd campaign... i did NOT expect all that. i think our dm chose violence on day one and he never stopped. he was merciful maybe... once? the npcs were great, i wanted to study them like bugs... but damn was that campaign difficult difficult lemon difficult.
got me emotional far too many times. the guilt for what we all messed up was always there in the back of my head. we were basically put through a wringer every week. i want to do it again.
and here's the problem i have. i don't know what to think, because i wanted her to get her own happy end. instead, she ended up:
it was kinda sad that we didn't get the Good Ending™, basically everyone in the party lost. only my character survived the endgame after being revivified, but i can safely say that she wishes she stayed dead.
1) objectified (decided to sell herself in hopes of getting out of the whole mess and fixing things)
2) a traitor (because she killed her friend who protected her this whole time she was dying and after that he stood guard over her dead body)
3) as someone even worse than she was before the whole adventure (came back to being opportunistic, but with an addition of crippling guilt and shame)
yes, in that order. didn't save anyone she ever cared for, sold the rest of her agency for scraps, ended up as an accessory to the count. sure, she did lift the curse, but the cost was... ehhh. and the consequences of that were also... ehhhh... her turning evil i think. because the epilogue i got didn't give me much hope for her keeping the rest of her humanity.
now i am unsure. paradoxically, i think that if i actually got the good ending, i would not be this involved in the story. this whole thing we did was a mess. i don't think there were any quests we did correctly. the dice were also ruthless. so i don't know, maybe it was meant to be, and our dm just cranked up the tragedy levels.
i made this character as an experiment, just to see whether i could play someone morally dubious. it was fun. more fun that i expected it to be. i don't like the fact that throughout 6 months of playing, she made approximately... one step towards the good. and in the endgame, she took at least two steps back.
but then again, isn't this what i wanted? i wanted terrible choices with terrible outcomes and i got them. maybe i just feel bad for being satisfied with a tragic ending, even though i shouldn't, because not everything has to end with rainbows and unicorns. and i agreed to the possibility of an absolute fuck-up.
i don't know where i was going with all that, i guess i needed some space to vent and figure my feelings out. the campaign was good. very fucking good. gave me brainrot. inspired me to write a diary. in character. in polish. almost 60 pages of writing. i haven't written anything in polish since high school.
slay, my fucked-up arcane trickster with a stolen name, you were the best. give my regards to dracula, since you are on earth already. and bring me some english biscuits when you're done with your conquest. aaand maybe stab the count with the sunsword, if you ever find it.
so... no more venting, i'm done. accepted the fuckery i did and its consequences.

for ship classification: wainlock, rhysothy, jackisha, nisharelia, zer4k, mozara, gaigel
[ Context ]
Wainwright/Hammerlock - Makes sense, Compels me (They have insane amounts of chemistry and are canonically Very Married. Compels me deeply and I love it. Those old men mean everything 2 me, something about how tender they're allowed to be with each other and openly care about them makes me such a soft stupid fool. They're my grandpas and I want them to have happy days forever or I will die.)
Rhys/Tim - (Technically) Makes sense, doesnt compel me (I don't like this ship for the oversaturation of it, but I do GET why it would be popular. Both of them were fucked over majorly by the same guy, both have been struggling with the effects of it even far later in their lives, it's god Foundation there you know ? PERSONALLY though I think its way funnier if they experience psychic damage over seeing each other for different reasons and just walk away awkwardly. Like oh hey haha. Um bye)
Jack/Nisha - Makes sense, compels me (I will only ever care for Jack when he's paired with a cooler woman than him sorry. That aside this ship is just good. Nisha deserves better yes but hey, she's working with what she has, and she makes it work really well.)
Nisha/Aurelia - Doesn't make sense, compels me (Here's what I mean by Nisha deserving better. Aurelia Would turn her nose at Commoner and Nisha Would try to rob her but it's just too good to pass up. They're two morally dubious women, one who comes from poverty and open violence and one who comes from wealth and the repression of violence. They think they're making each other worse but rlly they're just getting along.)
Zer0/Fl4k - Makes sense, Compels me (NB4NB robots I have no notes. They should be at the forest hunting together)
Moze/Amara - Makes sense, compels me (Its canonical that Moze admires Amara's physique and Amara is no stranger to flirting with women. I know in my heart that they would have a very complicated on and off relationship system and no one knows exactly what it is except for them, but they ARE very happy playing catch like that.)
Gaige/Angel - Doesn't make sense, Doesn't compel me (This is only because I think Gaige and Tyreen should get it on but I just don't see it tbh. It's nothing against the ship though I can see how it could work)

Introduction And Warnings
Dead Dove Do Not Eat: It has what it says on the tin/ things are occasionally morally dubious without karma, instant karma, or obvious karma.
Specific Warnings:
Vendetta. Yes, he is his own warning, and anything with him in it will be tagged with tw vendetta, since he single-handedly is the reason for a great deal of these warnings. Moving on. War violence, nationalism, swearing, alcoholism, underage drinking, guns and other weapons, instruments of torture, racism, sexism, homophobia, themes of rape.
---
This is a world meant to be explored through dialogue. You will know as much as you explore, and redundant questions will be accepted, especially questions on a character's opinion. Tastes and attitudes shift.
---
In this world, Monsters are cursed with cowardice in the midst of The Human/Monster World War. Many are willing to fight for glory, but abandon those in need of protection if the means to help places them at risk of embarrassment.
Today, Monsterkind is divided between The Mountain and The Surface. Most Monsters live below the ground, relatively safe from artillery shells and bombs. They live each day only for themselves in 1940s American style cities within The Mountain. On the Surface, however, Monsters live in steel-clad military bases and see the expanse of Earth through turret lenses and crosshairs, never caring to enjoy the sights, even when it'll be the last thing they see.

You are allowed to ask any character, as long as you know their name. You are allowed to give gifts and physically interact with characters-- but the characters have the right to ignore, reject, and accept interactions at their own in-character discretion.

Revealed Roster:
Frisk (Tack)
Tumblr media
A short human boy with a shorter temper-- doesn't accept others talking down to him or his friends and family. Doesn't shy away from fights often. Has troubles with learning in school and wants to take over his family's cobbler business one day, just like his dad did. "MY PAWPAW DIED FOR THIS COUNTRY! I DON'T CARE IF HE'S "INVINCIBLE"! If he wants to hurt me or mine, then I'll break every dumb bone in his B O D Y."
Sans (Roller)
Tumblr media
A sensitive mural painter and part-time construction worker. A bit shy, but friendly. Often watches over Vendetta, trying to control whatever damage he does. Collects pressed flowers and is a tortured artist. Unsure of himself. Responsible for keeping Vendetta in line and burying his brother's missteps. "Oh no, that's not good--"
Papyrus (Vendetta)
Tumblr media
A violent military man who despises Humanity for being inferior to Monsters. He holds strength above all, and enjoys tearing people apart. Respects rank and follows orders-- in his own way. Collects trophies from those who cross him and enjoys flaunting them. Nigh-invulnerable, he enjoys making others uncomfortable by eating glass and bathing in lava. Living with his brother on the direct order of King Asgore. Blatantly racist and sexist. Collects severed ears. "LEND ME YOUR EARS, HUMAN! I HAVE VERY IMPORTANT THINGS I'M GOING TO DO WITH THEM!"
Muffet (Vintage)
Tumblr media
A nomadic merchant who serves as her group's appraiser. She considers herself to be necessary, and occasionally pushes her chores off on those who let her. Her group travels the Surface and makes frequent deals with both Humans and Monsters. Plays the fiddle when she feels like it, and not before. A free spirit who hoards gems and precious metals for "future use". "Oh no, what a tragedy... Anyway."

My 2022 Kdrama Roundup
Making my 2022 cdrama roundup is taking too long (...I watched so many fuckign cdramas this year) so, since I watched considerably less kdramas, I decided to just do a post of them first!
KDRAMAS I FINISHED THIS YEAR:
The King's Affection--A kdrama targeting me personally. A crossdressing female crown prince would have been enough, but did she have to be so lethal? So handsome? Did she have to be good at both archery and swordfighting? And schemey? And did her love interest have to be a bisexual Rowoon? I was Attacked. My favorite kdrama of this year!
Eve--I'm always here for a solid Monte Cristo. Just people coming back with a new identity to fuck up the lives of those who wronged them. Lee Ra-el really goes for it. The drama, the angst, the fashion! Also the femslashy tension with Han So-ra was great, I need more female archnemeses in my life. The only thing is I didn't really like the actual romance that much? Maybe I just don't understand the tango.
Alice, the Final Weapon--More of a miniseries. The dynamic is a female assassin/a kind of suicidal masochist who becomes more invested in life after meeting her. And they're both highschoolers? Honestly the only way to sell me on a teenage romance is to make it this insane, I did enjoy.
The Silent Sea--Ngl it did creep me out a lot. The lunar water, that is. Didn't feel super connected in the characters bc this show is more about plot, concept, and action than character development, but it was quite tense and I was certainly invested in whether they were going to survive.
KDRAMAS I ALMOST FINISHED BUT DID NOT BUT WILL FINISH IN 2023, OKAY? REALLY!
Alchemy of Souls--I love Naksu/Mudeok! I love her fucked up mentorship with Jang Uk, especially in the early episodes where her attitude is just "throw him at death and see what happens". Also enjoy the obnoxious crown prince lols. I have only two episodes left (of the first season, at least) and have enjoyed both the scheming and the character development, but I have to say it can sometimes be a bit slow, and I don't care that much about ALL the supporting characters that have to have their moment in the limelight EVERY episode. (Park Jin and Park Dang-gu, I'm looking at you!)
Flower of Evil--New obsession! I had to stop watching for a week or so bc I was just bingeing too fast and losing sleep lols. The suspense is way up there, the whump is a thing of beauty, and I found myself super invested in Do Hyeon-su's life of fake (but come on, it's not really fake!) domestic bliss. Just so intense. I was kind of scared off by the hype for this show when it first came out but the hype is real, this show is incredible. Just hope the ending lives up to the rest of it.
Connect--An enjoyable thriller, but I don't really see why you have to make the antagonist of a show that already has organ traffickers, mad science and mutants... a random serial killer? On the other hand I do love his weird vibe with the surprisingly normal mutant MC so. I am not immune to serial killer antagonists.
OVERALL
A good year for morally dubious female protagonists (yes, I am including Lee Hwi/Dam-yi! she comes very close to murder multiple times and I am including her!). I watched less kdrama thrillers than usual bc I was watching cdrama thrillers instead, but the ones I watched were enjoyable. I want more fanfic for all of these shows but the fanfic wants I have are immensely specific so I should probably just write some but we will see.

comfort characters and otps?
ooooooo good question hmmm...
If we're talking about non OCs, then uh- Adrien from Miraculous my cat boy son yes and um, I mostly ship him with Marinette but actually I don't care who he is with so long as he is happy
also Brave is my comfort movie so Merida and all she needs is her bow, her horse, and the wind blowing through her hair
If we ARE talking about OCs, then I have these two, Wraith and Angel! Their story is long and complicated but essentially, Wraith is this somewhat prejudiced against species of sort of lizard dragon people. They have tails and scales (and no horns... I should give them horns... why did I never give them horns... I love characters with horns) and I should just give you a drawing I've done of her.
Angel is a cat person, oops. (I have a problem with compulsively adding cat people to my stories... and this one was no exception. Angel was not supposed to exist in this story and then I added her spur of the moment and she was originally a guy and now she's a transwoman so my ship can be gay oops.)
And they're a couple! Wraith has had a super hard life, grew up in poverty, accidentally bonded a magical out of control creature, ran away from home because she thought she killed her sister, ended up competing in a life or death game where she became infamous for having the highest kill count though none (or little of it) was intentional. Has horrible self esteem. And then Angel, her childhood best friend of like a year that she hasn't seen in forever who accidentally ends up in the same city as her and they have an adorable coffee shop romance.
They're so cute I adore them. (there's way more to this story and the world and other characters but have this tiny snippet)
Other comfort OCs are another couple of Silver and Ava. Silver's this disabled model, rich son of the local mafia boss (his mom), all of his siblings run crime rings and the only reason he doesn't is because of his disability so he's actually a good moral person, very nice, very funny, surrounded by his loving but morally dubious family who will kill anyone who tries to harm him.
Then there's Ava. Who is really just trying to live her life but one of her roommates is obsessed with this model guy. So she ends up attending one of the shows mostly against her will, actually gets to meet him and oops he gets a crush on her.
Shenanigans ensure and they end up dating. The end
also Silver's father may or may not have been killed when he was a child but is actually still alive and abducts him later and there may or may not be magic involved-
Those are the two main couples I always come back to so I'd say they're my favorites. I have a loooot more stories than just these two though.
(also the one with Silver and Ava my cousin and I accidentally made a crossover with one of her stories involving a character named Lulu who sort of gets adopted into Silver's family and I love it, their dynamic is so good)

Ask Character Meme: Strauss from VTMB
First impression
Chilled out nerd dude with excellent fashion sense? Hell yes.
Impression now
Chilled out nerd dude with excellent fashion sense AND a shady AF past? YESSSS.
Favorite moment
"I am pleased to see you still live."
Like after LaCroix put the blood hunt on Maddy's head, we were both full on expecting Strauss, ever the Camarilla loyalist, to... be a problem. I was expecting to have to convince him at least to not be a pain.
Instead he was like "oh hey, you're alive, cool, I was worried." That made me adfljasdlfkj
Idea for a story
Fic I'll never write: Maddy, being a baby Methuselah, eventually getting the attention of the Pyramid and having to travel there for whatever reason... only for her Malkiness to immediately cotton on that Tremere is actually Saulot, and basically telling Strauss, who escorted her there, to GTFO because there's no way Saulot wouldn't know she knows.
Strauss, by that point, trusts in Maddy's abilities enough that if she tells him to GTFO without zero explanation it means he should GTFO.
Basically the fic was going to have Strauss trying to track down why, exactly, his adopted Malkavian childe thinks the upper echelons of the Pyramid are so dangerous he has to keep away from it, and gradually unravelling the truth. Also it involved Aisling Sturbridge, and Strauss getting in touch again with Rose and eventually finding out that the Tremere are full of shit in regards to the Salubri and really are the bad guys everyone thinks they are.
I already have at least three other novel-length VTM fic ideas in the pipeline so I will probably never write this.
Unpopular opinion
He is so obviously a Black dude. Like, there is more to having African ancestry than just dark skin (it's in the shape of his features), Black people were absolutely in Europe during his mortal years (there used to be a whole blog dedicated to busting the myth that it was white people only, I don't know if it's still around) -- yeah, he's a Black dude. He has African ancestry at the very least.
Favorite relationship
We don't actually see him interacting with anyone else in canon (outside of LAbN, which I haven't watched) so I can't really answer this one.
Favorite headcanon
Total mother hen over his apprentices and absolutely loves to teach. This one is kinda semi-canon because of how excited he gets if you're Tremere and he inducts you into the Pyramid, but I take it a step further in that he can be as morally dubious as he pleases until his apprentices get involved, at which point they're a bit of an Achilles heel.
This one might actually be kinda extended to canon as well -- he should have destroyed both Katia and Eva for Eva's illegal Embrace, according to Camarilla law, but instead he just got really pissed off. And when Eva stole those books, to my knowledge, all he did was turn her white instead of doing something really nasty.
So my headcanon is that he'd sell you to Satan the Pyramid for one corn chip if you're literally anyone else, but if you're under his wing then he would probably still throw you under the bus for the Pyramid... but it would be extremely difficult for him to bring himself to do, and only if he absolutely had no choice in the matter. This headcanon is also why he didn't hunt down and destroy Rose in Maddyverse after he found out she was Salubri; he just gets too attached to the Kindred under his care.

I finally finished Inazuma Archon quest and I have so many things in my mind.
Spoiler maybe (????????)
1. I wanna slap Ei so so so so so so bad. Like, uhg, damn.
2. I think I'm in love with Yae Miko, be my mommy ma'am 🥺
3. It bruns me to the core that Childe is one of the fatui, after seeing all the things they've done and how they don't really care about human life... I feel like, uhg, out of love with him? I still like him but then my brain says "He's not too different from Scara, he tried to drown Liyue, what if he would have succeeded?" I'm having a crisis here. Childe the househusband and Childe the heartless fatui, I hope in this new event we can learn more about him but still... I feel salty.
4. I cried like a baby, Teppei, I'll miss you so much.
5. Archons are selfish, I don't trust them no matter how attractive and daddy like cofcofzhonglicofcof they can be.
Okay, I finished! In general a good story, however, the ending was kinda rushed? Hehehehe Thank you for reading, I just wanted to share this with you 💕
🤷🏻‍♀️ Anon
so uh… well… hm… i have a lot of things to say abt the inazuma archon quest and aha… majority of them are… not good </3 i wont bore u w it tho bc istg i could write a full 180 pages just ranting abt whatever the hell that was. i did share my thoughts utc abt the points u made tho
ei is… well i dont really know what to say abt her. i like her design and her playstyle but how she was written? eh… i’m not the fondest unfortunately. i cant say that she’s not endearing sometimes tho.
yes. i worship one (1) yae miko 🧎‍♀️
lol. well… as his self-proclaimed first wife, i feel like i need to defend him but literally, with what?? i made an in-depth analysis over this b4 and idk if you read it but it was in an ask and i discussed my take on househusband childe and canon childe. the way i see it, scaramouche and childe are different. they’re both evil, yes, but their ambition, reasoning and way of things make them different kinds of evil people. in my eyes, childe seems like the person who would avoid unnecessary innocent deaths but wouldn’t hesitate to cut them down for his own goal. on the other hand, i dont think scaramouche would even bother w his dubious morals. now dont get me wrong, death is death and im not justifying his murders. i’m just saying that to a degree, childe does care abt human life. after all, he values his family. i find it hard to believe that whenever he does kill, he doesnt, for a split second, see his family’s faces. it’s just that he values his own ambition over life and its not any better but i think it’s a vital point of his character. one thing i like abt childe is that he’s not pretentious and the game also does a good job of portraying him as a harbinger. childe has never tried to pretend as if he’s a misunderstood villain. no, he admits that he’s a bad person who has done bad things and the game doesnt make it anymore or less than it’s supposed to be. yes, this guy is bad. there’s no justifying that. he was introduced from the get-go as someone we should be wary of and we were. ngl tho, i dont think him succeeding in liyue would affect anything. first, his plan was never going to succeed bc zhongli was ready to fix things if the qixing proved to be incompetent and second, because childe already has red on his ledger even b4 the game started. he’s canonically ‘evil’ and ‘immoral’ in that sense. tldr, liking childe means a.) liking the complexities of his canon character and psychology, b.) liking the fans’ portrayal of childe and c.) a little of both. i think you fit in the b category in which case i feel like you should avoid letting the canon bleed into your views bc it’ll be quite stressful? difficult? to think abt. i really do think it’s easier to think of those as two different people bc the way househusband childe could become canon is very different from the househusband childe you probably have in mind.
sigh… teppei you would be missed… i hope you had more development and roles.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmm ok so i have a lot to say abt this but i’ll get to the gist. ‘selfish’ would be a good term but i also feel like it’s lacking. rather than being ‘selfish’ i think they’re more ‘human.’ they’re no different to the mortals save for their ageless and powerful nature. every day, we receive stimulus that make us react differently, possibly immorally which i can assure you, none of these archons believe they were immoral. ei, for example, believed an unchanging inazuma would be the best way to safeguard her people from the pain of loss. zhongli also thought that him leaving liyue to the hands of the people is a gift and so is venti’s lack of overseeing presence in mondstadt. we cant say they’re wrong bc their principles are also fundamentally different from ours. similarly, i can’t say for sure that if i were in their shoes (which is to say i am a god who experienced years of war, faced millions of loss and did smth that was against my morals), i’ll be any less ‘selfish.’ the only reason i could react negatively rn at ei’s actions is bc i know what it means to be mortal and to waste away but in her eyes, she probably cant comprehend the human dislike for stagnancy. how could she when she’s been stagnantly herself all these thousands of years? the truth of this matters remains to be that these archons thought they were right (just like human decision in their day to day drama) and the choices they made are flawed similar to how humans would make choices that cant be agreeable for everyone. but yes. don’t trust anyone for that matter
the entire thing was rushed. wish it took a different turn but eh- i hope this was a good reply lol. i got carried away and ended up rambling abt my cluttered view of some things. hope you dont mind <33

i would argue that kyle being revenge obsessed is exactly what would make him a good love interest in theory. imo it's so much more engaging to watch a couple if both persons have stake in the plot, as opposed to one being there just to be pretty (why i could never get into paige/henry that much personally) i think what ruins paige/kyle is simply that they're not a good match like at all. but yeah, i think they're a rarepair too.
see okay okay okay. because i actually have a lot of thought on kyle because it's like. it's like. he's so not a charmed character you know he's a morally dubious character in a show w black and white morality an end justifies the means type guy fighting against a plot that like. okay. because over the course of the show we see kyle do things that easily qualify as "bad" right like. drugging a woman and keeping her in a medically induced coma so she doesn't foil ur plans. that's bad. held phoebe and gunpoint and killed leo before time reversed like murder. also bad! but kyle's doing this to save the world right he's doing this to save the world from the avatars which is So Interesting because his logic is i'm willing to sacrifice some to protect the many which is basically the same thing as the avatar's philosophy. the avatars erase and troublemakers who threaten their dystopia. they do a couple nasty things to create true peace. like. there is a very strong parallel between them and kyle that we simply don't address (it's not the same thing because the avatars area ruling collective trying to institute their own world whereas kyle is just one guy trying to keep everything as is, he doesn't want to spark change, but still. talk about this!!) and the thing is, that's an interesting character and definitely antihero material if he's willing to kill our leads to get what he wants, but what he wants is to save the world. but charmed just refused to do gray morality. they said the wrong thing done for the right reasons is still the wrong thing but every time kyle does something dubious they just say hey don't worry about it like i think they had to have him date paige because they needed him to be a hero and if there was anyone else out there constantly trying to murder leo, they would be a villain. so the relationship is kinda just a narrative sheild.
but to the specific point of kyle being revenge obsessed making him actually a better love interest, i'll agree that relationship are just always better when each love interest is their own character and engages with the plot in their own ways and each has their skin in the game, to which kyle absolutely does. the thing is tho, paige really doesn't. paige is insanely neutral and wishy washy on this whole avatar plot she's like yes i think kyle's right yes i think it's wrong for kyle to kill leo yes i think kyle's right to be suspicious of the avatars yes i'll help the avatars make utopia like. she really just goes with whatever and it bugs the everloving shit outta me because like. as we were talking about. both having stake in the plot. kyle totally does. it would be great if paige did too, we could get arguments, points of conflict and points of agreement, points where they both agree but there's conflict on how to execute the plan like. actual character work could be done but instead they were just kind of like paige has a crush on kyle lol. kyle's going to try to murder people. paige isn't really going to care either way.

Chapter 239 - Aaaand it's flashback time. Mvp lord is completely right though, he's the only decent conversationalist around.
- I like to think that part of the reason why Ashoka always insists on getting Raizel to spend time with others or to get him out is because his brother is dead. Before it would have been his brother doing all those things so Raizel did actually get out and was somewhat active but ever since he executed him he's been a recluse.
- Ah yes the days when Frankenstein used to experiment on innocent nobles. Nobles really have like 0 reasons to like him lmao. Like yeah I know it was only blood samples but that's still also highly unethical and I'm not a fan. I'm not saying I'm some paragon of morality because I honestly don't care too much about him experimenting on people who could have been gleeful murderers or rapists even though that's also wrong but I do think just experimenting on innocents and any guilty person is bad. Like at least get a death sentence for them and then do it. Ofc I get that the reasoning is he wouldn't be allowed to but still... Gotta love our morally dubious scientist lol
Chapter 240 - You can tell Gejutel's the grandpa because he's all "yeah one day humans will outstrip us lol"
- Roctis, my man, are you wearing a white blouse, a black unbuttoned coat, and a cloak? Or are those just arm warmers with a blouse and cloak. Going insane rn gimme a minute.
Tumblr media
- Gejutel being weirded out about Rayga's adoration for the lord makes me happy like yeah that's weird to the most noble noble to ever noble.
- God I fuvking hate it that the mask isn't over the nose like if I was there I don't care if I'd get arrested or killed or whatever. I'd just pull up Rayga's damn mask.
Chapter 241 - Love how Frankenstein thinks that Gejutel and Rayga view humans as inferior since they're nobles but grandpa's just "i don't remember giving humans lessons on noble society". Like yeah there's definitely noble supremacists but it isn't grandpa.
- I think Rayga probably sleeps in that arms crossed, head lowered, eyes closed position. Like does he need to sleep? No because nobles don't aside from kids. Does he do it anyway? Yeah. Gotta escape parenting duties somehow 😔
-PLEASE TUG YOUR MASK UP MORE RAYGA
- Rayga's fighting with his eyes closed ajjsjsks.
-I never get why the artist gives every single character a thigh gap like... with that body? They would never. Also he draws even men with tiny waists for some reason and like... It's unrealistic enough with the women, drawing the men like that is downright confusing. But yeah he isn't a particularly good with anatomy in general so ig this will fall on deaf ears. My favourite thing about said bad anatomy is that no man in noblesse has a dick though. The one upside.
- Ashoka looks so annoyed by Dark Spear being summoned like did it interrupt his daydreaming? Was he thinking about Raskreia? My man has a busy internal monologue that just got ruined and he's very unhappy about it.
Tumblr media
- Another thing I find hilarious about Raizel, Ashoka, and Roctis, and so presumably every other clan leader and all of Lukedonia, feeling Frankenstein summon Dark Spear is that none of them went to check it out. I bet they just blamed it on a clan leader or something because most of them truly are overdramatic idiots who cause scenes every now and then and I want to see a scene where they mention it to each other and they're all blaming a different clan leader and realise that it wasn't any of them. And so they get that belated "oh. probably should have went to check it out". Edian gets an excuse because she's drugged.
- Also I think Roctis might be lost in the castle lol. Or doing work or visiting someone I guess.
Chapter 242 - Rayga being impressed that his clothes got torn... love it
Chapter 243 - So how good is Ashoka's hearing if he thinks the fight is loud? Either that or Lukedonia is tiny but lol I'm just gonna assume he's somehow capable of extending his power all over Lukedonia when he needs to even if he can't do it for long. It's nice to think that he might be keeping an eye (or in this case an ear) on what's happening after Dark Spear was summoned so that he can interfere if his clan leaders need him.
Gejutel's lukewarm response to Rayga sjjsjsi. Just "could you stop obsessing over the lord for one second". I imagine Ashoka just went "of course i was right" when he heard Rayga's comment.
- Look Rayga, grandpa just thought you were weaker than everyone thought okay. Frankenstein being strong is truly a surprise to him. Before Frankenstein humans couldn't stand up to civilian nobles, much less clan leaders.
- Imagining Ashoka laughing madly at Gejutel and Rayga being tricked,,, All my fitey clan leader ocs would be so disappointed in the two.
- Tbh anytime a noblesse character says that their body is a 'mess' instead of just saying they've been injured I imagine their insides actually being jumbled up like some sort of capsule toy or custom doll.
- God I hate how Raizel just has a bunch of identical shirts on display like, at least make them different. Also why are they tailored like that, if the waist is gonna be that thin just wear something skin tight like the Kertia 😭
Chapter 244 - Fvck I'm imagining Frankenstein stumbling into the rooms of previous noblesse/Raizel's family while exploring the estate and it hurts even more because the 'I didn't find any trace of residence' line would still hold even if said rooms were furnished and personalised because they'd be covered in dust and eaten through by insects and 😭😭😭
- Raizel hates people wearing his clothes so much that he uses his power to tear the shirt Frankenstein is wearing to pieces while replacing it with different clothes ajjsksksk. Like just magic up the new clothes and ask him to change???
- I bet Frankenstein regrets saying he works there when he learns he'll have to deal with everything himself. Truly pitiful.
- Second time Rayga's lifted his mask off his skin to speak. Does this mean most of the time everyone has to deal with slurred speech from Kertia who wear masks? Is this a recurring problem for him?
- I like to think that Ashoka and Raizel are actually not that far off in age in noble terms. It's like a few hundred years sure but to nobles it's still close in age. Raizel just has family baby energy so Ashoka refers to him as child.
- Aaaaand flashback over

Here's an ask: what are some betty & jug moments or scenes that you've always wanted to see on the show? I don't necessarily mean relationshipy stuff (altho yes sure that too), but investigation stuff, family dynamic stuff, serpent stuff, etc etc. Expand this ask outside of bughead too, if you'd like!
A good but difficult question!  Let's see, let's see...
- Jughead proposing for realsies is one I desperately want.  Like, he's had two pseudo-proposals already, where is his real one?  I deserve to see it.  Bonus points if it's impulsive and he uses one of the rings he's always wearing to do it.
- I really, *really* want Betty and Jughead to be engaged and then do some crimes and have to rush up their wedding so they won't have to testify against each other.  I will also accept them dating but not engaged, and then Betty is going into emergency mode, but Jughead is like, "So, uh, I've had this engagement ring ready for like three months, and I know this is a bad time, but will you marry me?" And then Betty says yes and they get married and don't go to jail.
- I want to see Betty and Jughead have to makeout as a cover when they're caught somewhere they shouldn't be.  Like, that's a classic, I want to see it.
- I need more of Betty and Jughead doing shady shit while both wearing their Serpent jackets, I want scenes of them acting as a clear power couple, I deserve this.
- More dark bughead!  I don't even care how it manifests, I want them doing morally dubious things because the ends justify the means.
- Vengeance quest!  I want Jughead to go on a vengeance quest like the one Betty went on for him in season 4.  I deserve this parallel.
- Cooking!  I want to see Betty and Jughead cooking for each other, bonus points if it's Jughead doing the cooking because Betty deserves to be taken care of for once.
- Jughead getting better at writing!  I just want the show to hire someone who actually is good at writing prose to write his narrative segments.  Just, please, show, you want me to believe he is a good writer, so just hire someone who can write prose, I am BEGGING you.
- Betty and Gladys!  I was ROBBED of seeing them together!  In fact, I desperately wanted the whole Jones+Betty family to sit down to breakfast or dinner or something because I bet it would be so awkward.
- Betty and Jellybean!  Betty, Jellybean, and Jughead!  I already made my post about this, technically, but I would still love to see it, especially the three of them together.
- Serpents + Betty!  I so wish they had explored this more, to have the Serpents see Hardcore Scary Betty and Betty see how much the Serpents and Jughead are friends.  The 3x01 Hot Dog mission was good, but I wish I had seen them working more as a team in some heisty situation.  Bonus points for throwing Cheryl into the mix.
- Toni joins the Blue and Gold!  I'm still mad I didn't get this.  I crave Betty/Toni interactions, and I think Toni would make an interesting addition to the investigation team, and I'd enjoy seeing them all in planning mode, only for Betty and Jughead to drift off into "Investigations are sexy" mode and then Toni has to spray them with water to get them to focus.
- Jughead + Serpents!  All permutations of this are important to me.  I think Jughead's friendships with the Serpents are really interesting because they're based on a common experience that Jughead just doesn't share with anyone else.  There's a sense of community and family, of sorts, that I get from the teen Serpents, the feel of those friends who you can not speak to for ages but then easily slip back into normal patterns once you see each other again.  I think they're four people of varying levels of impulsiveness and "I will FIGHT YOU, right here, right now" who have to keep each other in check.  Like, there is not one single one of them who stops the others from doing stupid shit; they ALL are capable of doing stupid shit and picking fights on principle alone, but there's also usually at least one of them who's like, "Ok, guys, calm down", and I find that hilarious.  Also, bonus points for being three grumpy people and also Fangs, a ray of sunshine and king of bad decisions.  I really wish we got more of Fangs as a speaking character; for all he's had screentime, he doesn't talk much, and that leaves him with considerably less characterization, and it's frustrating.  Also, I wish we had gotten more of watching them play G&G, I find these seemingly tough kids playing tabletops games to be the funniest fucking thing.
- Betty + Veronica!  I would like to see more of this friendship, and specifically I'd like to see Betty supporting Veronica, because we haven't gotten much of that.
- Betty + Kevin!  I wish I knew more about their friendship and could see more of it.  I want to see Kevin try and pry details about all the drama in Betty's life out of her.  I also wish we had gotten to hear even one of his gossip columns.
- Jones family!  I just want more of the Joneses, they're such a disaster family.  Like, I want more of every permutation of this dynamic, it's fascinating.  I mean, I especially want Jughead and Jellybean, but I'm also interested in FP and Gladys, FP and Jellybean, Gladys and Jellybean, Jughead and Gladys (outside of drug lord problems), the whole family at once.  I know it won't happen, but I'd love to see the whole family reunited because it's clearly something Jughead wants and I want him to have all the things he wants.
- Unrelated to Betty and Jughead, but, more than anything, I want a shot of Veronica standing in front of that painting of herself ala Hiram.  We have been doing parallels with them and "If Veronica isn't careful, she could become like her father" stuff since season 2 at the latest, I DESERVE this shot.
- Archie's gay awakening!  Look.  Look, they have given Archie so many homoerotic friendships, and RAS famously wrote a play about Archie being gay that he got a cease and desist letter for.  Everything should come full circle and RAS's Archie tv show should include Archie's gay awakening.  Bonus points if he's with Reggie.
- Betty v Hiram!  Everyone else has gotten at least one season where they went up against Hiram, Betty deserves hers.  Granted, she would probably take him down, or almost do so, so it might be best saved for the last season, but still, I want it.
And I think that's it?  At least, I think I've got everything I can think of for now.
