Yuu OC - Mulan ⚔️
Pt1 An interesting concept
I’ve always been curious about the direction that TWST could go in regards to MC being a girl.
One of my favorite examples of this being this fic by DuckInSuits on Ao3
Now this inspired me to watch Mulan because it is one of the most famous “girl disguised as boy” story (other than OHSHC) that I know of.
Since literally almost everyone is twisted off someone (idk who Jack is tho) +the Disney references that make me cringe sometimes just because I know the existence of Disney, why not make the MC also twisted off something?
(lol Grim as Mushu tho imagine)
I just feel like the in canon MC does seem like the type of person to kind of work hard with what ingenuity they have since they live in a worn down building and pass classes they have zero prior knowledge on.
And they do kinda use their brains to figure out shit, especially with the overblots !!
Idk i just think it would be an interesting dynamic to work through
None of that liar arc tho, that usually stretches on too long but like… yk
I really enjoyed the fic because it made us connect with Cater (and I believe Ruggie?) in ways the normal canon didn’t explore. It made me empathize with them and actually be invested in their relationship with the MC. And I like how it shows just slice of life stuff like MC making pancakes in Ramshackle dorm/needing feminine pads.
Moments like these really give us a moment to stop and breathe to notice the story’s surroundings while making it believable and lived in. It balances out action and pure dipshitness.
Pt2 “Also I really like Mulans songs”
Honor to us all + Reflection
in regards to this while listening to Honor to us All, it actually made me think of a believable motivation for my said OC, she ran away because she didn’t want to get married, and didn’t want to pretend to be someone else just for her parents (and by extension society) to accept her
Now I know this motivation is more selfish than not wanting your elderly father to fight in a war but remember TWST characters ≠ their twisted counterparts. (Ex. Rollo is less pure evil than Frollo). And I think this could be an interesting motivation since her journey going to TWST could make the MC realize her actions and make her decide whether she did was right or wrong (=character development)
A Girl Worth Fighting For
You cannot make me believe every single man in an all boys school is 100% feminism core.
I think that’s where a girl worth fighting for could come in. (Deuce not included he is a feminist) but the 1st year friend group being a lil (while unknowingly) sexist in regards to how they see a female romantic interest, then later drinking respect women juice after realizing the strongest (they fought 6 overblots stfu yes they are) one in their fg is in fact a woman (and later apologizing to her lol)
Make a Man out of You
It’s self explanatory based on what I said earlier but I’m not sure who could be Shang in this song 😭😭. Personality based it’s either Vil or Riddle, Physically it’s Leona (he would not give a shit other wise), unless it’s for spelldrive)
Summary: Overall this is more of a Yuu not based on having a love interest, but as a character based on an icon (✨).
This has just been on my mind for a bit about an AU that I do not have the skills to write about l…but it’s for all you girlies who prefer pants over skirts and generally dont like to be categorized as feminine 🔥

Jottings: Season 7, episode 6. A woman is... possibility
Contrary to what I usually do in here, just jotting down spontaneous impressions of the episodes, with no great pretension to anything, I had to re-watch Where The Waters Meet three times over last week. And it was all my fault, because this is truly a good and dense episode, that could have very well ended this half-season.
It also becomes more and more clear that my decision of not reading these damn books was a very poor choice. Probably because the storyline seems cramped, at times, I find myself gliding through moments and scenes with the very unpalatable sensation of bagging a munro without the right equipment. Not a good picture, I know. But bear in mind I just started Drums of Autumn and it already reads like a root canal intervention - sorry for the book purists. I should, however, hope to somehow catch up before part B of the season: no promises, though. If, by any stretch of my vivid imagination, I start to hear Herself's screechy voice in my head while reading, it immediately goes down the drain, despite my best intentions & effort.
But I digress. While Fort Ticonderoga is being evacuated with the help of the friendly Cherokees and their lightweight canoes, in Lallybroch there is a bit of fussing over Jemmy's cursing in Gaelic at school. Which leads to Roger being invited to give a wee lecture on the topic by a very enthusiastic Headmaster and yet another (Lord in heaven and all His cherubs) constipated domestic conversation with SS. The only cheerful thing about her is that self-assertive fringe, so 80s I could cry (I hate the Eighties with the passion I worship the Sixties, heh). And her grabbing me by the sleeve (Hello, people! Lookie here! I can haz acting! I am acting! ) every single time she has more than three lines on air is distracting and, again, annoying.
Walter Woodcock's demise instantly took me to Season 1, when that proud Scot was killed by the boar and Claire helped give him the good death he deserved. Not surprising at all, since the whole OL dynamic is a pendulum between loves, timelines and worlds.
The new Rollo dog looks less direwolfish than Rollo 1. #GoT, stopped watching upon Khaleesi's arrival at King's Landing. Never looked back.
Rob Cameron, you antagonist, you. That new acquaintance you instantly find too pushy not to feel suspicious about, and yet you can't afford to be irrationally rude to. Also, with no SS in sight, RR is pulling off his scenes quite fine & dandy, and with ease. What is that woman's dark secret? How can that be? Court is still in session, on this one. But give me more Hunters and less #Broger, dear God. I would take it any day, any way you see fit. I will be nice to everyone and take my vitamins. I will even consider jogging. But get them off my back, for Christ's sake!
Vandervaart. Consistent. Present. Owns his game. Elegant. Loved every single moment (Your servant, Madam - especially and for obvious reasons). A very, very good cast honoring both J and LJG. I can only fawn and paeans are not really my specialty. But I continue to be impressed and confident and I see great things for this talented kid.
Spoiler: I said yes, Claire. And just like that, with the click of the rifle's hammer, he tells her their whole world is yet again thrown upside down. Theirs is a dense scene, clearly dominated by S, whose mastery of voice and expression is once again flawless and thoroughly appreciated. She follows, at a - by now - completely symbiotic pace, but make no mistake: he gives her the cues. And I would take that subtle, unspeakable tenderness any day, gladly, if the writer's final choice was not to insist on what might be - perhaps unjustly - construed by some as geriatric porn. He still looks at her like that.
For that only, if not for all the rest, I will continue to watch it until the end. Because I feel you morally lose the right to criticize the moment you throw the towel and your opinion suddenly turns into bitching. Something I will most probably never do, as far as OL is concerned.
Onwards to Dreaded Seven. Let's see if I can be properly disgusted by poor acting yet again.

Credit given to @flllk. B&W is a great idea - the right kind of depth

Inside the Catholic School
Tumblr media
Ladies, gents, and non-binaries, he's here!
(Also, disclaimer, this is all in good fun. Not to be taken seriously. I am Catholic, but gotta be honest, roasting the religion and the jokes make me laugh)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Idia, this isn't an RPG! Gods, this dynamic is amazing. Honestly, the Halloween events always hit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No, that's how old Catholics used to appear and behave. Just trust me on this one.
Tumblr media
DEUCE! I nearly choked on my gods! LET HIM CURSE!
Tumblr media
Idia is winning in this event so far.
Tumblr media
DEAR GODS, HE'S TALLER THAN AZUL! I know the fans were in a tizzy, but to see it is another thing! Aim for the kneecaps!
Tumblr media
MONEY! But also, Azul is trying to make connections with a school based on Catholic values of let's say the 1830s. This also means the school most likely donantes their money to those in need. Azul, you cannot get money from Catholics. They take it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes, but for you, your head could get cut off if you tried this. But I do like how all three are interacting. This does feel like a school event. They feel like classmates if that makes any sense.
Tumblr media
It is beyond funny that as they're talking as classmates that it cuts to Rollo glaring at them!
Tumblr media
What?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok, so obviously, Crowley gave out personal student information to the president of the students in Nobel. Why would you do this? Depending on the time gap, Rollo memorized everything.... Lastly, it makes sense why Idia can't have people know who he is, but I think it is funny that he's the one who went straight to a threat to sue Rollo and not Azul.
Tumblr media
Not really. Only 3 have tried to murder me. I was Idia was actually depressed and needed to let it out.
Tumblr media
I plan to, because personally, I would want to spend at least 2 weeks in France.
Tumblr media
I find it hilarious that Malleus just said that after Rollo went on and on about how the school and city pride itself on being clean. Malleus does not give a frick.
Tumblr media
Idia really doesn't care either. Actually, this is a good point. Throughout the game, Idia is the only one besides Leona who doesn't care for Malleus' nonsense.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok, but the backstory to this man is so sweet. I really love that he loved his wife so much and were so happy together.
Tumblr media
You know, if we do sequel villains, that is the plot of the second movie. That's not the point, but Ruggie, it didn't work out well for him. It definitely won't work for you.

Hello~ I'm a recent follower🙈 The ask game serves as the perfect excuse to ramble, and I'm taking my chance!
1)Love me not (Literally cuz I'm biased)
On a serious note, I really like the dynamic between Riddle and Reader all the way from their first meet, friendship moment, estrangement to the very end. What a rollercoaster ride😂😂
8)The imagery, the descriptions to even the smallest detail, in-character depiction. And how it make me focused more on plot than my bias chara🤣 (there're quite a few writers suceeding at that, and you're one of them👏🏻👏🏻 Hopefully, my writing can reach this kind of level someday🥹)
9)Def DRU
It's fresh to see a xReader fic that has other characters play their part aside from the one that's shipped with reader.
11)Adeuce/Ruggie (No pressure tho. After all, every writer have their creative freedom😁)
12)Love me not, DRU and the Rollo letter fic (forget the name, opps🙈)
14) DRU
Actually, I'm a hsb fan😂😂😂 And I didn't expected to be that invested in the plot of a Jade x Reader fic.
Reader's personality really draws me in as well. Their humor and snarky remarks I luv🫶🏻🫶🏻 (Maybe the fact Riddle and Cater are featured here too helps, but that's not the main reason. Luv how u write their interaction btw. I don't see much fics that explore these two having tension with each other)
Looking forward your future updates☺️
(ask game)
Hello, sweet anon!!!! ( ⸝⸝´꒳`⸝⸝) it's so wonderful to meet you!!
"Rollercoaster ride" is probably the best way to describe Love me Not. Riddle and Reader could have probably become good friends with a healthy and happy relationship if it weren't for familial pressures and the fact that they were both forced together for the sake of marital conveniences. >_< and Riddle does genuinely want to have a stable connection with Reader. Unfortunately, the way he goes about securing that connection is not the best... ;;;;
Thank you very much for enjoying my imagery, descriptions, and character depictions!!!! :D I think both plot and characters go hand in hand, so I like to write plots that are just as engaging and interesting as the characters themselves!! ^0^ I'm happy that it can be liked!
Omg Ruggie!!!! Yes, I want to write a lot for him (and for adeuce as well)!! But most of all, I need to give Rugs the love he deserves. <3 he is not talked about nearly enough on the blog. I need to fix that. orz
Aaaaaa thank you for being invested in DRU and for liking Reader's personality!!! She's one of my favorite readers I have ever written for a fic before. I just love her snarky attitude and her banter with Jade and how she's so scatterbrained sometimes. She has lovely chemistry with all of the characters. DRU!Reader is my most beloved. She deserves good horoscopes forever. (´▽`)❀ and I'm also happy you like the way I write Riddle and Cater in the story. I think tense interactions between the both of them are so interesting to explore in the context of such a scary plot. Their unresolved tension is just lemon shark-sized when compared to the megalodon-sized tensions on Reader's side. >:)

You know I just can't get over how detailed the backgrounds and cards are. I have a lot of fun searching for the hidden mickeys and just looking at the details. My current favorite is the halloween background from Idia's dorm. The tree shadows have Pain and Panic hidden in them. Do you have any favorites or cool details you have noticed?
omg yesss ;u; the hidden Mickeys were one of the first things I learned about Twst, and until now, it's still so endearing. I vividly remember my friend and I trying and failing to find the hidden Mickey in Riddle's dorm card shortly before the pandemic started. I know some people who could spot the Mickey just from seeing the card in the in-game news, which is really small. I admire the kind of eyes they have o_o
Ooooh, the Ignihyde Halloween background is always a really good one! Pain and Panic being shadows there was really exciting to see. Hmmmm, for me, right now, my favorite detail isn't in the background but rather it's in the story structure of some main story episodes. I find that in some way, the story of a main episode can be interpreted as the original movie played backwards. I plan to talk about this further in a future post, but I'll try to illustrate it using Glorious Masquerade as an example since the event has a similar beat to main episode arcs.
Hunchback of Notre Dame essentially went like this:
Bells of Notre Dame plays
A family member (mother of Quasimodo) was killed
We learn that Frollo has a hatred for the Romanian people
We find Quasimodo in the tower, and see the toxic dynamic between him and Frollo
Quasimodo wants to go down the tower and attend the festival, against Frollo's wishes
He joins the festival of fools
Esmeralda dances in the festival and entrances Frollo
Quasimodo is mocked, Esmeralda helps him out of the festival
Esmeralda seeks sanctuary in Notre Dame
Frollo is attracted to her
Esmeralda and Quasimodo become friends
Quasimodo helps her escape
Frollo gets pissed as fuck and starts burning down all of Paris to find the Romanian people
Quasimodo and the captain guard find the hiding place of Esmeralda and her people
Frollo finds them and captures them; he's gonna burn Esmeralda
Quasimodo saves Esmeralda
Frollo goes wacko
He falls to his death
It ends happily
Meanwhile, Glorious Masquerade is kinda like
It starts out happily
The boys tour around City of Flowers
Festival happens
Cue hellfire in the form of flowers meant to suck out magicians' magic
The boys race up to the tower
We find Azul, Malleus, and Idia up in the tower against Rollo
We learn that Rollo has a hatred for magicians because he blames them for the death of his brother
Bells of Notre Dame reference is made (Malleus voice) yes you can lie about not being the one who caused the flowers but you can't run or hide from the eyes of the bell of noble bell college)
It still ends happily
I . I hope you can see it BDFSKJFBJKDSJK essentially, where HoND starts with Quasi up in the tower and he descends it eventually to rescue Esmeralda, Glorious Masquerade had the boys go up the tower to solve the conflict.
It's a really interesting find I found, and I promise to be able to talk about it soon because I really want to ;u;

Here is my writing for you <3
Aka reasons why I KNOW Lilia x Lina x Rollo is canon frfr
First of all, the vibes and the aesthetics are there. Trust
The :D x :( x :| dynamic is so fun. So so fun
Lilia is scooping you and Rollo up in his arms and giving you both forehead kisses <3
You and Rollo have things in common and I think you'd be able to help each other get through a lot of stuff!
Plus Lilia is there to always support you and he's very understanding!! No judgment from him at all, absolutely 0
Again, LILIA AND ROLLO WOULD FIND YOUR SMILE AND LITERALLY EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU STUNNING!!! GORGEOUS!!! They wouldn't want to change a single thing about you!
They'd take such good care of you, no cap. Seriously. They'd be absurdly good at it. And they're incredibly careful and ask if you're comfortable :)
Why did they fall for you? Not sure with them but in my head, they saw a failgirl meow meow (affectionate) and went "OMG I LOVE THEMMM" and "...Okay so I love them"
Also that one Halloween drawing you did is like. Stuck in my head permanently. The vampire x witch x priest one.
Ngl I think y'all should have a pet cat. Idk why but it seems right
So the fireworks during masquerade, right? Or whatever they were if they weren't fireworks, I'm not sure jsndkfs
I think Rollo would take you both to a place that's kinda far and the sounds aren't very audible, but the view of the town is great! And you get a clear view of the fireworks so that you don't have to miss how pretty they are!
I'm trying to think of date ideas but I'm kind of blanking rn? I know it'd be something more low-key... OHHH what if cat cafe??? (I feel like I keep mentioning cats but that's literally your and Rollo's energies, I can't just forget cats)
Whenever you're sick, Rollo would definitely take some time away from NBC, like a few hours, so he can see you and make sure you're doing all right! Maybe he brings you some food or medicines he heard is good for you!
I'm sure Lilia does a really good job too, plus he'd make sure you aren't lonely and in low spirits!
Random thought: If Silver is basically the son of Lilia and Lina, what's Rollo's role? I feel like he doesn't dislike Silver, that's all, but if you have thoughts... 👁️👁️
Cottagecore house cottagecore house cottagecore house
Once y'all graduate I can see you having a cottagecore house. Yes just like Seth and Rollo
That's all I have rn but PLEASE RAMBLE IN YOUR RESPONSE IF YOU WANT!!! I WANNA HEAR MORE ABOUT THEM <333
Tumblr media
HSDHDJSJSDJKSJS TARUUUUU THIS IS SO CUTE I'M GONNA CRYYYYYY
and you're right. rollo x lina are just cat x cat. both of them are so cat-coded.
THE IMAGE OF LILIA SCOOPING BOTH ME AND ROLLO UP IS SO FUNNY but it's okay i know he can do it
everything about the vampire x priest x witch au is perfect. lina and lilia already dating and lilia going "hey dude wanna form a polycule". rollo naming one of the bells john and making cole and sebastian worry for his mental health. rollo being So Scared that someone is gonna find out about his relationship with those two but when cole and sebastian do find out they just go "OMG SO YOU DO HAVE BITCHES SLAYYYYY- ahem, we mean. wow.. you're not maidenless.." lina secretly being a catgirl and hiding her cat ears under her witch hat and fully turning into a cat when she's comfortable around rollo. honestly priest!rollo is a very popular au concept especially with a vampire/witch/other "monster" s/o but like. come on. we all know this is the best one /lh
. I GUESS SILVER CAN ALSO BE ROLLO'S SON THOUGH THAT'D BE SO FUNNY IT'S LIKE ".. so. uh. y-you're dating my father." ".. yes" "and you're also dating my mother" "also yes" ".. uh. does that make you-" "i am literally one year older than you" "okay father number two" NO BUT THEY EVEN LOOK KINDA SIMILAR. KNIGHT OF DAWN WHO. i'm actually obsessed with the way how silver actually looks and acts like a mix of them. he can appear very suddenly, scaring others in the process, just like lilia, he's eepy like lina and also tends to blame himself a lot just like them and he looks a lot like rollo and is very serious and responsible, just like him. he is literally their son. i'm gonna sob
here are some of my fav lina x lilia x rollo concepts if you don't mind me sharing!
lilia is 700 years old and he's been through so much and it took a lot of time for him to change and become the gremlin that he is today. lina is MUCH younger than him, but she also had to go through a lot of horrors. lilia never says that their trauma isn't valid and never says stuff like "well at least you didn't have to fight in a war". he just hopes they can feel a bit lighter when he's around.
i've mentioned before that i imagine lina's unique magic hurting them a lot in exchange for them to do things as good (or better than) as others so yeah, maybe rollo would find lina suspicious at first but then imagine him finding out about what her magic is doing to her and he's like. "SEE. I AM RIGHT. WE HAVE TO SAVE YOU WE HAVE TO GET RID OF MAGIC WE HAVE TO-" and lina is standing there like "sir.. why do you want to save me.."
*sobs* rollo putting a flower in lina's hair while she's sitting lost in thought and comparing her to that flower *CRIES*
rollo being confused why lilia is 100% okay with a poly relationship and lilia is like "well. uh. well. you see. i have EXPERIENCE" mallenoa and her husband (possibly crowley)
ACTUALLY IT'S SO FUNNY bc if you think about it lina x lilia x rollo is like a reverse version of that relationship. it's not the "actual queen" and a "trash man" it's "the nbc student council president and the most talented student from that school" and "a wet cat i found on the street and said "i just think it's neat"".
*SOBBING* LINA HAS NOTICEABLE FANGS.. DO YOU KNOW WHO ALSO HAS THOSE.. which means linalilia can just bite rollo whenever they want.
lina and lilia dye each other's hair all the time and try to make rollo join them. they fail but it's okay

oooo could u do riddle perhaps on the recent character post?? :0c
Yes✨
I really like Riddle! He was actually in my top 3 favs before Idia and Rollo came around 😔 I live for his character development and every time he shows growth I am just *vibrates at high velocities* RIDORUUU😭😭😭
For romantic ships, I have a couple! Deuce/Riddle (SO underrated), Azul/Riddle (I'm insane abt this one), and Trey/Riddle (Not like crazy abt it but it just feels comfy to me), Floriddle too (but I'm picky abt the dynamics)
Non romantic, IDIA. IDIA AND RIDDLE....please they r so funny I need to have them interact more. Also Riddle and Malleus...or tbh if u put Riddle with any of the third yrs it will def be super funny
Unpopular opinion uhHH idk if this is unpopular but I think Riddle should get to be unhinged more. Let him do stupid shit he teamed up with Floyd once to do smth everyone told him was a bad idea and I think he should do it again (that is also the floriddle dynamic I want the most btw. Just two idiots)
One thing I wish would happen....I kinda want to see Riddle confronting his mom directly in canon. Like I know he talked to her off screen but I really want to know how their relationship changed after that or if it changed at all

ATHELSTAN, with bonus round of that one traumatized star wars clone you wrote a story about
OKAY so Athelstan will go first, then my traumatized star wars son Crosshair. Putting it under a cut because it got long:
Athelstan
My NOTP for them  - Hmmm, I've seen a few Ecbert/Athelstan's played straight which doesn't vibe well with me, like I can SEE where it comes from but my Ecbert interpretation is extremely unflattering and I have a hard time getting past that lol.
My BROTP for them - HELGA IS SWEETEST GIRL AND BFF, when we see them cuddle in the season 2 premier it warms my ENTIRE SOUL.
My OTP for them - Unsurprisingly, Floki/Athelstan/Ragnar, which is my most special of special pairings that I adore. Any variation on it fascinates me, I usually go for a more season one vibe in my fic but honestly I think a rivals to lovers plot (between Floki and Athelstan) would also be fantastic, especially since we know that Ragnar has utilized the MAYBE HAVE A THREESOME? to try and resolve spats between love interests before LOL. Their dynamics just blend VERY well and both Athelstan and Floki are wonderful foils that bounce very well off of Ragnar and so they work best when both are in play. Really, anything that lets the three of them be TOGETHER will be exciting for me.
My second choice pairing for them - Okay so after seeing how cutely they interacted, I have a soft spot for Athelstan/Torstein, they don't get MUCH screentime together but when they are together they're so CUTE.
My fluffy pairing for them - Every pairing is a fluffy pairing with Athelstan involved. Is this a cop out answer? Yes, absolutely, but if I am writing a pairing with this boy my instinct is to FLUFF! IT! UP!
My angsty pairing for them - Okay so when he finds out about Arne's death he said "Arne?" in the most DEVASTATED TONE and anyway, Athelstan/Arne developing a small Thing that they don't get time to pursue before Rollo fucking. Eviscerates the poor boy. That's the right angst stuff.
My favorite poly ship for them - Same as the OTP, lol, this will be a theme because my OTPs usually are polycules, it's like this in every fandom lol.
My weirdest pairing for them - Honestly, Floki/Athelstan/Ragnar is by far the weirdest ship lol, making this the third time it has appeared on this list, it is simply my Life and Love
Crosshair
My NOTP for them - I have few complete NOTPs with him, so gonna have to go with the obvious of Rampart. Haven't seen MANY fics play this as a straight up pairing, but it's one that I genuinely can't see.
My BROTP for them - I read a really good longfic that included some Howzer & Crosshair bonding and now I crave it. Howzer is interesting because he really was the 'if you're so evil eat this kitten' of post-chip Crosshair, he could have shot him, chipped Crosshair WOULD have shot him, but he didn't. I hope Crosshair actively helps to get him out of jail and they can vibe together.
My OTP for them - POLYBATCH. Listen the five of them vibe so well together and each and every dynamic within it is something fascinating to me. I want nothing more than for them to be happy, I crave and demand it. Let them be happy (and kiss)
My second choice pairing for them - osijfoidsjf I'm going to cheat because my second choice is honestly any single ship with one of the other batchers. Polyam is my preference but I will also happily read about any one dynamic within the group.
My fluffy pairing for them - Actually pulling out a subset of the OTP here, but Crosshair/Wrecker specifically is fascinating to me because in the initial four parter they really do seem to be the closest. They compete yeah, but Wrecker will intervene IMMEDIATELY to protect Crosshair (he even forgot his fear of heights for him!) and Crosshair seems very proud of Wrecker (he's going to get the gunship out of there, not Cody) and they have a cute quiet moment around the fire before things turn into a Fight and I WISH we got to hear what they were talking about.
My angsty pairing for them - EVERY pairing is an angsty pairing when you're a dramatic emo bitch like Crosshair is. Truly there is not a single pairing that can't be completely played for angst. Does the angsty Cad Bane/Crosshair smut fic I'm poking at count if they're not really together and it's just an unwise one night stand? It probably counts.
My favorite poly ship for them - same as the OTP, polyships are my bread and butter.
My weirdest pairing for them - Probably the Rex/Crosshair (platonic or not) considering their primary interaction was Rex punching him in the face for talking shit about Echo. But that also makes him one of the few people that has completely noped out of dealing with Crosshair's shit and he needs that. There's value in dating the person that won't let you do your typical nonsense!

Hey Herr Bear? This may sound silly, but I kinda wanna thank you for introducing me to TWST. Especially cause I wouldn’t have met Deuce if I never got that 1 am urge to play it. Not just him, lots of the guys are becoming major comfort characters. God, I really love Epel, Riddle, Silver, and Ace. I finished up reading (or honestly skimming) through a translation of the glorious masquerade event, and I just love everyone’s dynamics. Azul buying souvenirs for Jade and Floyd and Deuce and Epel just like “😳 YOU CARE?! And….AND THEY’RE FREE?!” 😂. Jamil is also just a mood, he’s like that one friend the deadpans all his honest thoughts. Honestly, I also like Rollo. Idk why, ofc I didn’t really trust him at first (they were dropping hints of something very sus with him) but the whole reveal was so awesome. Plus his reason for hating mages honestly just makes him seem broken, which I really liked to see
And now to brother in law: Idia. Bro, everything he says is such a mood. He went from “Nghhh, I’ll only go cause little bro wants me to” to figuring out that Rollo was targeting Malleus in particular. He’s starting to become someone I kin tbh, mainly cause of social anxiety and just disliking interactions, but actually being really fucking smart
Ehhhh, sorry I rambled! I have a lot of thoughts about lots of characters. You were right that I wouldn’t regret this decision of playing it, and now it became a hyper fixation 🥲/lh
no no I love it when you ramble! I live for your asks tbh- /gen /pos
I'm so happy to hear that! I'm also happy to bring you into the fandom, cuz you know, it's twice cool when your close friends in your comfort media too!
yes yes and yes, I love all's interactions too! Despite me focusing on my f/o, twst is that fandom where I enjoy all interactions honestly! they're like family to me, especially first years (Ace, Deuce, Epel, Jack and Sebek). and yes, Azul too. My favorite event from those I played is Harveston, GOSH IT'S SO COZY, esp for me since I know that feeling of a freezing winter and, y'know... New Year/Christmas vibe, country side aesthetic, etc. Well, and ofc, Idia in a pompom hat. Okay, actually I love everyone's outfit in that event!
gee Idia fangirling over Epel's granma being the inspiration for an anime protagonist that is his waifu based on a Harveston sleigh competition-----

I KEEP FORGETTING TO SEND YOU THIS BUT I LOVE THE CONCEPT OF SETH X ROLLO AND IVY X ASSISTANT GOING ON DOUBLE DATES. imagine if seth and ivy are the ones who came up with the idea and they didn't tell their boyfriends anything, so when they meet up, it's like "UM. First thoughts on Campaign three
I LOVE them, your honor. That's all you need to know.
Okay but seriously;
Let's start with Ashton and FCG (and no, I cannot believe we have a he/they robit that goes by Fresh Cut Grass. Sam and Liam--what the actual fuck?)
I really enjoy the thought that FCG met Ashton and was like "yes, I like your gender, I'll do the same." These people also have such a cool dynamic. Ashton will be the Beau of this campaign--constantly saying fuck, absolutely zero shits, vague morality that will one day show a marshmallow center. Pairing this with a legit therapy robot that seems to have been created for the purpose of helping people is fantastic. Big asshole enjoys tiny friendly BFF. I love them.
The fact that FCG seems to have given us his sad backstory in the first episode just convinces me that Sam has something incredible in the works. Also, whatever subclass--clearly homebrewed from what i can tell--apparently has the ability to take half pain from others which is wild and has such angst potential, I'm ready to cry already. (Also, from a mechanical standpoint its WILD. The half damage is first moved to temp hit points and then, from what I can guess, whatever of those t.h.p don't get used after a certain length of time--maybe a minute?--give FCG damage from their actual hp. So weird, I love it)
Ashton...I'm not sure where they're going. Something wild, considering Tal. Tho, honestly, how has this eldritch horror given us a literal Punk Rock that is a Gender??? Apparently they have a dunamantic subclass, also clearly homebrewed. Or maybe just wild magic barbarian. Something like that, which is also WILD. Makes me wonder where they learned their abilities.
Alright, let's hit the next two: lesbian queens Imogen and Laudna. First, I feel like I should say I would absolutely offer my heart to either of them and have never been so horny at a creepy undead in my entire life.
Let's hit southern bell, Imogen, first since we know the least here: young, polite, southern girl just wants to figure out where her powers came from. Honestly, loving the callbacks to Fjord and it's a really sweet first layer of what I'm sure will turn out to be a more complicated backstory. And, oh yeah, she can READ MINDS. I don't know anything about the psionic subclass, but I'm excited to see where Laura goes with it. Seems like a lot of opportunity for shenanigans, though this might turn out to be a 'discover your roots' kind of story, which I support.
Now: Laudna.
I've gotta say, my first instinct was De Rollo, and I'm sticking to it. That, or a Briarwood. Maybe one of Percy's sisters got killed/turned. I've seen a lot of dhampir/undead floating around. I saw one post that said one of the Briarwoods is her warlock patron which would be SO COOL. Maybe Marisha is just fucking with us, which is a possibility. Thus far, we haven't really seen any of the PCs with close ties to PCs from another campaign except Orym, and even that seems to just be a simple working relationship. It would be really cool to see what can be done with this connection if it does exist.
As for Laudna herself--she's so freaking cool. I love how she's naturally so creepy and off-putting but just doesn't seem to notice. Carries a dead rat on her belt, asks FCG if they kept the bodies of their fallen comrades, and is surprised when children run. It's amazing and I have no idea where she's going or how she possibly met Imogen. I expect fantastic dynamics from these two.
Next, let's talk about everyone's favorite silver fox; Bertrand Bell
I should prefix by saying I haven't seen either of the one-shots he appears in. He is also an easy way to address all of the negative comments which seem to derive from the cast reusing old characters--I have no idea who this fucker is. Didn't even know he'd shown up before until I saw a post about it. That being said; within that first episode I got a really good look into his character and I was instantly caught by his personality and how well Travis plays him. I don't know shit about the one-shots but I know Bertrand Bell and I think if Travis wants to explore him more then he should be able to.
That being said:
I agree with a lot of people that he doesn't seem like a permanent character. The fact that he's two levels above the rest of the group, plus that he's apparently gone back in levels in the last thirty years doesn't show great things. The fact that he's also apparently the first quest giver instead of an NPC is also really strange and doesn't seem to indicate he'll be a recurring character for long. Maybe Travis is just going to appear as a series of new characters instead of sticking with just one. Maybe his real character will show up later. Either way, I'm all for it. I think this is a really cool new way to start a campaign.
Now, probably the most controversial part of the party: Dorian, Orym, and Fern.
Now, I LOVE the Crownkeepers. Adore them. And I'm also super excited for them to show up here for a few reasons. Liam and Ashley both expressed desires to further explore these characters and I'm vibrating to do the same. We got such hints of little pieces of them in EXU and I want more. Of the Crownkeepers, they are also the most likely to split off from the group--Orym because he only went to Emon for Keyleth in the first place, and Fern because she always said she "had things to do". So, no, I don't think Fern and Orym are temp characters like some people are suggesting. Especially not since, as Matt said on twitter, they had the opportunity to re-roll their stats, tho Orym didn't take the option.
The fact that, if Bertrand indeed is only temporary, it means Orym at 13 has the highest INT is hilarious. He thought the Crownkeepers were the exception, but Nah, they were the rule.
Dorian...is different. We just learned that he's apparently from Marquet in the first place, which is really interesting and explains why he didn't seem to know anything about Tal'Dorei. It does make me wonder how long he'll stick around for--will he just go back to Tal'Dorei? Will some crazy part of his backstory show up and take him away and thus be the next EXU plotline? I'm not sure, but it'll be interesting.
What's even more interesting is how, exactly, this new campaign fits with the EXU storyline. It's been a year since the events of EXU and Matt said Orym was contacted while the Crownkeepers were in Byroaden. Now, last we saw them they were about to go south into Betrayer cult territory, tho they discussed going to Byroaden after for Opal to look into her family some more. My guess is that we WILL get a season two of EXU to finish the Tetrarchs stuff and that campaign three takes place after that season two. Maybe. It does beg the question of if the Crownkeepers ever went back to Emon to speak with Gilmore which was the original goal that they never finished.
The reason I see so many people complaining, I think, is partly because one: EXU was pretty controversial on it's own because of it's guided style which is different then the freeform of the main campaigns. I disagree, but that's a different post. The second reason is that people wanted to be able to start this with no needed knowledge about past campaigns. I still think this holds true. I mean, heck, not watching EXU might make it more interesting to see these three interact. I mean, we don't know how Imogen or Laudna met, or Ashton and FCG. We aren't complaining about that, so simply watch Orym, Fearn, and Dorian and enjoy the mysteries of their pasts.
The fact that this group started at level three and the WILD twists we've already seen within the first episode alone really tells me that CR is going all in here. The set, the characters, whatever wild story they're about to tell--it's going to be amazing. I trust in the CR team and cannot wait to watch them go on this adventure together, wherever it may lead.

The Making of Outlander: The Series Author Tara Bennett on Why She is Thankful for What Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe Shared
By Paulette Cohn
The countdown to season five of Outlander continues with three months left to go until the Feb. 16 premiere on STARZ. But in the interim, author Tara Bennett has a little something to help the time pass more quickly and provide you with an Outlander fix. It is her new book, The Making of Outlander: The Series: The Official Guide to Seasons Three & Four, which takes a deep dive into the making of the series, and is now available in stores and online.
“We spent a lot of time on the first one trying to frame it with new voices and different ways of telling the stories, or with people that aren’t covered by typical press for the show, and it went over well,” Bennett tells Parade.com in this exclusive interview. “Because of that, we wanted the second book to look and feel similar, as if you were making a collection on your shelf, and so we kept the format, we kept the relative design, and then we looked into spotlights and head-of-department features, so we could change it out, so you didn’t feel like you were learning the same thing but for a different year.”
The Making of Outlander: The Series is a beautifully crafted tome, and what makes it a must-have for fans of both Diana Gabaldon’s novels and for fans of the Starz TV series – as well as a great holiday gift — is the large number of photos, many that have never appeared in print or online stories.
“I did a cross check of everything that was available to the public via press versus what was made available to us for the book,” Bennett says. “We tried to put in as much new stuff as possible, otherwise, why bother buying the book? I literally made a huge Excel spreadsheet of what was given to press, and then what was given to us, and then made sure that we leaned into those things. If there was a beautiful picture that STARZ and Sony gave the regular press, it was still nice to be able to find a way to feature it, so that you could really look at it in a different way than looking at it on your tablet or your laptop.”
Bennett was also able to coax some interesting tidbits that hadn’t been in print before out of series stars Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser) and Caitriona Balfe (Claire Fraser), like what lengths they went to for season three and four to accurately portray being parents, as neither of them are in real life.
“They both spent a lot of time trying to establish and understand that dynamic and really create that rapport with their costars,” Bennett relates. “Sam has some really great stories about the hesitancy of that, working with the little boy that plays Willie, his son, and creating that rapport. Then several of the actors also talk about watching him with the young actor and how endearing that was. I think that’s just a nice testament to both of them as actors is the level that they go to, to try to create the authenticity with Jamie and Claire.”
You’ve told us what’s the same about this book, what’s different other than the seasons?
We went into a lot more, specifically, about the production design and visual effects, how they worked in tandem, which was a lot more subtle in the first two years. Then in season three and four, you had tall ships that had to be created in visual effects, you had shooting Scotland for the United States, so for a lot of the environment, they would have to use blue screen to create Jocasta’s plantation house in season four. That doesn’t exist in Scotland.
And so, they basically had to do a lot of visual effects to that house, including an entire second floor, and the environment around it to make it look like it was truly in Wilmington. We decided to peel back a layer with that.
We did a lot about the First Nations, basically, the big immersive sets that they created and then really tried to look at some of the new cast, so that we could give them time in the sun. So, it’s people like Ed Speleers, who played Stephen Bonnet, and, of course, giving much bigger spreads to Sophie Skelton (Brianna) and Richard Rankin (Roger), because they’ve been bumped up in terms of presence, especially by season four, so they equal Sam and Caitriona now in terms of the spreads that they get in the book.
To me these are special coffee table books. I keep mine out, so I can flip through it any time.
Yes. That’s nice. That’s why we try to make sure when we play around with the color and the brightness of the pictures that you’re really getting the best possible version of the picture on the page, so that you really get to look at details that your eyes will get a little tired from looking at on a computer.
In the first book, there was a story about Caitriona’s casting, which was something that I didn’t know before I read it there. Do you have stories like that in this book? Is there one you could share?
David Berry, who is Lord John Grey, is a character that the book readers really, really love and that TV fandom has embraced. He’s Australian, and the story that both the casting director and he tell in tandem — she in her section and he in his — is that he was really part of a wide net that they put out for the show, because there’s so many television shows being produced now that even since the first season of Outlander, it’s harder to find actors who aren’t already engaged in something. So, what they used to do was just look in England and Scotland, but now they have put it out to the world when they’re doing a new casting call for a major character.
So, David Berry has a good story about how, in a casting sense, they went to Australia and were really starting to look for Australian actors who are very good, and then about how quickly his turnaround was. He had to deal with playing that character on the fly the entire first season. He’s been intermittent in the show, so his stories have been really fun about trying to get into character, but really not being with the show very much so that’s been a challenge.
How involved were Sam and Caitriona in the second book?
I have to thank them. It’s been a benefit that I’ve been able to cover the show as a reporter and then also be able to do these books. I first started covering Outlander for print and online outlets, and so, they’ve known me. Then when I started doing interviews with them for the book, there was already a recognition factor. The really great thing is that over a span of — now they’re into production for season five, they know me even more.
As it is with all lead actors in a television show that’s over four seasons, it gets harder and harder to get them, because they’re really busy, and when they’re on breaks, they’re doing other projects. But they have always made time to say, “Yes, I’m going to talk with Tara,” and so I’m always super grateful because, at the end of the day, there is no companion book of value without the two of them. Claire and Jamie are the books, and so, I would’ve really been devastated if we hadn’t gotten them. I ended up sitting on the phone with each of them separately.
In some instances, Sam was in a car literally heading to LAX, so a good way to combat traffic is to talk to me. With Caitriona, she was on a break from shooting, and so, we talked when she was doing a little bit of other press for season four and so it ended up being really great.
I always try to approach their interviews, in particular, as they’re covered a lot by mainstream media, so I try to talk a little bit more thematic and about the work that they do to progress the characters from year to year. I think they really appreciate that kind of deeper conversation that they don’t always get when they’ve got 10-minute hits with media outlets. So, that was always my focus and they were always really gracious. I always know that they really get thoughtful and dig deep to think about those moments that mean a lot to them and how they progress the character.
Any conversations about working with Rollo or the horses?
All those animals make noise and create problems and they’re never fun, so they look like they’re happy around them, but John Bell, who plays young Ian, is the only one that really likes Rollo because he was the one that had to, basically, help train him from its youth, so that he would respond to him.
Everybody else had had enough of those animals. There are good stories about how Matt Roberts, who’s the new show runner who took over from Ron Moore, had to go around the globe to find those animals and bring them back. They would basically make a global search for multiple puppies and other animals that would fit what the readers’ expectations were, so it’s not just going to a shelter and yanking an animal, it’s this whole thing that the book explains as well, which was surprising to me.
And this coming season, they had to look for Adso, too.
Adso will be, hopefully, in book five and six if people buy this book.
Did Diana participate at all? I know she’s been busy working on the next novel in the franchise.
For the first book, Diana, obviously, was establishing the transition, and so, she did the foreword. Then she also was a cameo actor and she also wrote episode 211. So, for season three and four, because of her own book deadlines and production timing, she didn’t end up doing an episode for either season three or four, and we wanted to leave her alone. We didn’t really want to bug her unless she really had free time, which she didn’t.
So, we asked the foreword go to Matt Roberts. So, she isn’t present but she’s been super gracious in terms of doing book signings and with approval, saying she appreciated what we did with the companion for the seasons.
But the nice thing is, she announced that she’s going to be doing episode 511. She’s writing that one, so I have a hope that if this book does well, then she will be back in the next tome, which is great.
In addition to photos, there’s sketches of some of the different sets.
We were able to get some sketches from Jon Gary Steele, who is the production designer, and then we were also able to get sketches from Terry Dresbach, who was the costume designer through the middle of season four.
That was something I wanted for the first book, lawyers sometimes don’t always make that easily happen, and so, because we knew we wanted them and could get the request earlier for this book, we were able to get the sketches directly from Terry and from production design to be able to give a flavor of some of the things that they built. So, you get a general idea of mood board things, which are very important for Terry in coming up with the overall ideas of what a character looks like, especially as they progress through the eras.
Then, for Jon Gary Steele, who really uses the facilities of the warehouses in Glasgow to basically repurpose, he’s a fun part of the book. He really explains when you see a new set what it came from, why he created something so that he could easily retrofit it to something for the next year, and there’s always a sense of they are borrowing from last year to use the footprint for what they’re going to need to do for the next year. So, there’s basically a taste of everything that came before and everything that he builds going forward.

chechzooo asked: Will there be more of the story of John and Isobel on the Ridge?
Murtagh on the Ridge AU (not written in chronological order) An alternate universe in which Murtagh survived Culloden and joined the others at Fraser’s Ridge
*listed in chronological order Claire’s return; first Christmas after Claire’s return; Company Part 1; Bree’s arrival; Jem’s birth; a skunk on the ridge
Company - Part 2 (a multi-parter within the Murtagh on the Ridge AU)
Claire was right about the measles. Isobel broke out in the rash before dark had fallen and John woke up with it. Ian held out the night in the stable but was shivering and feverish when Claire went to check on him and tend the animals in the morning.
She spent the next few days tending her trio of patients, which meant: brewing tea to soothe their headaches; keeping a pot of stew in the hearth’s embers for when they could only manage broth and a pot with milk-soaked bread beside it should they be able to manage a bit more; keeping them from overheating amid their fevers and the close atmosphere of the small cabin; washing their clothes when they slept soundly and the fevers began to abate.
It was exhausting but not unfamiliar work. As she fought to sleep sitting upright in the chair where she could hear anything should they need her, she wondered what she might do to get word to Jamie and Murtagh at the big house to tell them how everyone fared. They must be beside themselves with worry, especially the boy, William. But Claire couldn’t yet risk leaving them alone in the house for more than the time it took to feed the animals, milk the goats, and collect the chickens’ eggs. The horses were getting restless in their stalls, unable to get adequate exercise.
But John was beginning to come around, the disease having nearly run its course so that he would only have to fight through a few more days recovery and rebuild his strength. When he could stay conscious for more than two hours together and sit up in the bed beside Isobel, Claire would feel comfortable letting the horses into their paddock for a few hours and then corraling them back in just before dusk.
Young Ian was strong, too, and she was confident he would easily pull through. He slept soundly with Rollo curled up beside him on the pallet where it rested on the floor. If Ian stirred or needed something, Rollo whined to get Claire’s attention.
It was Isobel who concerned Claire most. Their journeying from Jamaica up along the coast and then across North Carolina had left her weary by the time she contracted the disease. She slept fretfully, the rash making it impossible for her to get comfortable. Her fever ebbed and flowed but stubbornly refused to break. Still, there was a quiet strength in Isobel Grey that refused to give up her hold on life.
“Will she survive?” John asked softly when he roused enough to begin to be company again. Claire had him move to the other side of the bed, between Isobel and the wall, so that Claire might reach her better. It helped to have another warm body tucked next to Isobel but being on the closer side of the bed made it easier for Claire to pull back the blankets when necessary to let in cooler air.
“I think so,” Claire responded. “I certainly intend to do all that I can. She had a long period yesterday when the fever quieted and I had hoped it would break but it rose again this morning. I think it’ll be the final push for both and if she can hold on a little longer, I think she’ll do it in once and for all. Then it’ll be a question of getting her through the recovery.”
John sighed, his breathing still shallow and unsteady. He reached over and lovingly brushed several strands of his wife’s hair back into place. “She’ll outlast it,” he asserted. “For Willie’s sake.”
Claire smiled. “The love of a mother for her child can accomplish many things,” she agreed.
“You sound as though you speak from experience,” John said with a hint of surprise.
“Jamie and I have a daughter,” Claire informed him, keeping her voice low. “It was for her sake that I went on when I thought Jamie was lost at Culloden. Love for her gave me strength… and still does. She’s grown now and living far away.”
“I saw what it did to Jamie to be parted from you. And the comfort having Willie nearby provided. You’re sure they’re safe from this measles?”
“If any of them were likely to show symptoms, they’d have been on the doorstep by now.”
Isobel began to stir and groan, perhaps roused by their conversation. Claire adjusted the blanket and dipped a cloth in a pail of cool water next to the bed, wringing it out before using it to bathe Isobel’s face and neck.
Isobel opened her mouth, her eyelids fluttering as she fought to wake.
“Mrs. Grey,” Claire called softly. “Mrs. Grey, can you hear me?”
“Where’s… Willie?” Isobel breathed.
“He’s safe, darling,” John told her.
“He’s… measles?”
“No. He’s been kept away to prevent him catching it. But I doubt they’ll be able to keep him away much longer. He’ll be wanting to see you,” John continued. “We’ve given our hostess a scare, but you’re doing splendidly.”
“Your husband is right, Mrs. Grey. You’re pulling through nicely. Your fever seems to be breaking at last,” Claire said with a note of triumph. “Rest more now but in an hour or so, I want to see if Mr. Grey and I can get you sitting up enough to take a bit of broth or perhaps a few bites of bread.”
“Course,” Isobel murmured. Her eyelids stopped twitching with the effort to open them and her body relaxed into the mattress once more. “Thank you… Mrs. Fraser.”
“You must call me Claire moving forward. We’re going to become good friends in the next few weeks while you recover and my good friends call me by my first name.”
“Claire,” Isobel said with a weak but warm smile. “Please… Isobel.”
“Which room do ye wish to bed down in tonight?” Jamie asked William as they put their tools away in the fading light. “We’ve tried each of the bedrooms on the second floor a time or two and I’m most grateful to have had yer help wi’ findin’ and fixin’ their deficiencies. Could I beg yer opinions on the rooms of the first floor, now? The parlor perhaps or the study?”
“What about the kitchen?” William suggested a little too eagerly.
Murtagh laughed. “There’s no food stored there yet,” he reminded the lad. “No beyond what we’ve managed in our snares and what’s left of our stores. It’ll be a few months yet ‘fore it’ll be worth sleepin’ in the kitchen.”
“Will you be putting books in your study?” William asked, turning to Jamie.
“Where else would I put them?”
“I didn’t know that you would have any. Even stopping in the cities and towns, there were few places to find books,” William observed. “Mother says we’ll need to send to England when we’ve settled.”
“It’s true there arena so many printers in the colonies here as there are in England or Scotland,” Jamie conceded. “But books are a necessary for man no matter where he makes his home, for they bring civilization to the wild and the wild to civilization.” He grinned at the lad who smiled—a happy sign after a day in which he’d let his fears and frustration boil over into a brief tantrum. With tools at hand it was simple enough for Jamie to help William channel that energy into something productive. He would wait until the Greys were well enough to serve as a distraction and then he could return to the house, pull the nails in the floorboards in the corner of Claire’s surgery, and hammer them home again in a straighter line. “Do ye have a favorite book?”
William blinked, surprised by the question. He pondered it while they finished tidying up and moved to the kitchen where Murtagh had stoked the fire in the hearth enough to roast the rabbit he’d prepared.
“I don’t think so,” William finally declared. “I’ve only read my lessons and lessons are not my favorite. Do you have one?”
“Aye. Robinson Crusoe by a Mr. Daniel Defoe. Tells the tale of a man shipwrecked who washes ashore of an island when all the rest were lost. He must find a way to survive it all, even when he believes he’ll never be rescued or see another livin’ soul again.”
“And is he ever rescued?” William perked up at the teasing in Jamie’s voice.
“Ye’ll find out if ye read it for yerself.” Jamie put his small tin plate down and wiped the grease off his hands before reaching for his pack. He had packed it with the other supplies they would need when formally left the cabin four days earlier. Having confirmed for Claire that he’d had measles as a child, she permitted him inside for a quarter hour before kissing him goodbye and telling him they were not to enter the house again for at least one week—unless William or Murtagh began showing symptoms. Jamie said a quick and silent prayer that his nephew and friends were well again, and that Claire was taking care of herself as well as the others.
“You brought it with you?” William asked, baffled.
“And why no?” Murtagh interjected. “We’ve time to pass and if he’s willin’ to read at us to pass it, I say proceed. It’ll either give us something new to think on or it’ll send us to sleep and I’ll no be mindin’ that either.”
William actually chuckled at that and the put upon expression Jamie adopted to play off Murtagh. It was a dynamic they’d found put William at ease.
“If tha’s the way ye’re goin’ to be about it, I dinna ken as I want to bother strainin’ my eyes wi’ the hearthlight. Ye can count yerself to sleep wi’ sheep,” Jamie informed Murtagh.
“Oh please read it, Mr. Fraser,” William begged. “I won’t be put to sleep by it, I promise. Please?”
Jamie bowed his head to William and said, “For you, lad, I shall be happy to oblige.”

[Kresnikcest Fanfiction] - Unknown Territory
Title: Unknown Territory Pairings: Julius/Ludger Author: Oniusagimaru Rating:  T Chapter: 1/? Warnings: Ludger being a big ass nerd Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters Summary: Julius just wanted to know what Ludger's hobbies were...he didn't expect to get sucked into them as well. A/N: This is what happens when you detest OreImo but like the idea of one sibling discovering the other is a huge ass anime fan
---
Staring down at the box he’d placed on the kitchen table, Julius knows this one accident has screwed up his entire relationship with his little brother.
The package in the mail had simply been addressed to a ‘Mr. Kresnik’, and Julius had ordered their cat an assortment of toys that was expected to arrive that very week. So of course he opened the inconspicuous brown package without a second thought, and if he could rewind time, he’d punch himself straight in the jaw for being so hasty. What slipped out of the package was a thick, rectangular box wrapped in plastic, and as soon as his eyes landed on the cover, all Julius could do was stare in utter shock.
Across the top was the title ‘Your Sweet Love – Fan Disk – ENGLISH PC VERSION‘, and underneath it was a drawing of a man surrounded by several other men, their hands all over the body of the one in the center. His mind went blank for a good minute, and once he came to his senses he damn near dropped it in a moment of panic. After a quick catch he placed it on the kitchen table, and for a longest time all he could do was stare at from where he sat.
Running his fingers through his hair, Julius knows there’s only two options right now. One, he can put the game back in the parcel, seal it up as best he can, and pretend he’d never touched it in the first place. Or…he could confront his little brother about it and just get the awkward moment over with. Julius really, really wants to go with the former, but his mind screams at him that the latter is the correct way to go. Why? Because as hard as it is to admit, Julius knows NOTHING about Ludger.
Despite growing up together, he couldn’t think of one time when his brother picked up a hobby or expressed an interested in something. Well, except cooking, but that was only because Julius is an absolute disaster in the kitchen. He really didn’t know what his little brother like outside of the basics, and this is a golden opportunity to finally dig a little deeper. Ludger liked…whatever the game is enough to purchase it, so maybe he could get him to talk about it, if only a little.
He jumps upon hearing the door to their apartment open, and all he can do now is swallow hard as he readies himself for what’s to come.
“Sorry I’m late,” he hears Ludger say, “I stopped at the grocery store since they were having a sale. Is lasagna okay for tonight? I know we’ve had pasta two nights in a row already-”
“Hey, um, could you come here for a second?” Julius asks, and he’s really trying his best to hide the nervousness in his voice.
“Sure,” Ludger says before placing the plastic bags he’s holding on the counter.
Clenching his jaw tightly, Julius can hear his heart pounding in his ears which each approaching step Ludger takes. Oh god…he’s really going to do this…wait, can he really do this?
“What’s up-?”
His words are cut off by the strangled sound he makes once he lays eyes on the box on the table. Ludger’s eyes widen, and for a split second his face pales before it’s dyed a shade of bright red that manages to reach the tips of his ears. Julius has never seen him so embarrassed before. Damn, now he doesn’t know what to say, so he watches Ludger fidget in place like a kid that’s in trouble-
Shit…Another wave of panic begins to set in because Ludger thinks he’s done wrong; Julius hasn’t given him a reason to think otherwise, so that’s probably the first thing he should address.
“I’m so sorry, I thought the package was for me since I ordered cat toys for Rollo, that’s why I opened it,” he quickly says, “and um, it’s okay if you like cartoon games, really.”
Seemingly explicit cartoon games he wants to say, but he manages to choke that one back.
“Ah…” Ludger squeaks out, eyes on the floor.
They go silent, and it feels far more awkward than Julius had imagined. He wanted to know what Ludger is interested in, but how does he even start that conversation? ‘Oh hey, tell me more about this weird game’, ‘what are those guys doing?’, ‘it’s porn, right?’…None of those were going to work, and it’d only make him shrink back further. Julius really wishes he’d thought this through a little more, at least enough to get past this silence.
“It’s, um…a dating sim…” he says barely above a whisper.
“Oh…okay. So, you, uh…play a guy that dates other guys?”
Ludger lets out a groan that makes it clear he’s absolutely mortified, and as he covers his face with his hands, Julius feels terrible for making him feel like that. He should stop the conversation now.
“Please just tell me it’s weird, you don’t have to beat around the bush,” he says, voice raising a good two octaves as he does so.
Julius clenches his jaw again before answering.
“Yeah, it’s…it’s weird, Ludger, but…” he lets out a long, shaky breath before continuing, “It’s your thing. I may find it weird, but you’re an adult. And really, I want to know more about the stuff you like…because I feel so out of loop when it comes to your interests. I mean, if you really don’t want to talk about it, I understand.”
Silence falls between them again, but this time it doesn’t feel as heavy as it did before. Ludger slowly begins to drop his hands from his face, but his eyes are still glued to the floor. Julius opens his mouth to say something else, but quickly closes it. He’s said more than enough, so he leaves whatever needs to be said to Ludger.
“…Can we…talk about this another time? J-Just so I have some time to think and make a decision…”
“Yeah, of course.”
The moment he sees Ludger start to relax a bit, Julius begins to do the same. He quickly retreats into the kitchen without another word, so Julius takes this as a hint that the conversation is over.
An entire week goes by, and Ludger seemed to do everything within his power to pretend that their little talk hadn’t happened. The very next day he was all smiles as he went about his daily routine, but as Julius watched him, he couldn’t help but notice Ludger’s slip-ups. The two of them never held eye contact for more than a few seconds before his little brother averted his gaze elsewhere or quickly excuse himself. When not actively fleeing from him, Ludger looked lost in thought, which wouldn’t have been a problem if he wasn’t doing chores while it happened.
He’d ironed through three shirts, burned their dinner twice, and walked right into the wall next to his bedroom door. But when Ludger damn nearly cuts off a finger while preparing a meal, Julius realized he needed to put a stop to things. On his way home from work he was determined to tell Ludger that it was all right, that he didn’t need share anything with him if just thinking about it was causing him so much distress.
Well that was the original plan before Ludger grabbed his wrist as soon as he entered the apartment. Before he could get a single word out, he was quickly dragged to his brother’s room, the door shutting loudly as soon as he entered.
So he just sits on his brother’s bed, watching as he gives him a stern look. Despite the air of seriousness Ludger tries to give off, Julius can see a light dusting of pink on his cheeks. After a few seconds Ludger looks away, but he seems to gather his wits and look back. Now is probably a good time for Julius take a bit of that weight off his brother’s shoulders, but as he opens his mouth to speak, Ludger beats him to it.
“Did…did you mean what you said before…?” he questions, leaning forward a bit as he does so.
“Um, about what-?”
“About being interested in the things I like.”
Without hesitation he tells him that yes, yes he meant what he said, but more importantly he wants Ludger to be comfortable talking to him. Another silence falls, but this time Julius thinks it’s not from awkwardness but from Ludger taking what he said to heart. Julius might’ve been curious, but he would not allow his curiosity to win out at the expense of his little brother’s comfort.
“…I don’t think I’ll ever be totally okay with talking to you about it, I mean…” he averts his gaze, the blush on his face deepening a bit. “You’d be the second real life person I’ve talked to about it, and Nova barely counts since she was already in the know about this stuff.”
Straightening up, Ludger admits that having someone else to ‘rant to’ other than Nova would be nice, though Julius withholds feeling flattered until his brother gives him the okay. After a few seconds Ludger lets out a loud huff, and Julius doesn’t resist as his brother pulls him up by the wrist. They don’t go far; Ludger stops in front of his closet, a place Julius never ventured into so of course it’d be the perfect place to hide whatever. Ludger pushes aside a couple of shirts to get to the back, and he knows exactly what he’s doing.
With both their closets there’s a space for extra storage behind a sliding door in the back, and even though Julius thinks it’s not quite big enough to fit a bunch of stuff, Ludger has clearly made it work for his hobby. His brother gives him a quick look over his shoulder before he begins to open the door, and once Julius has a clear view of what’s inside, he’s dumbstruck.
The first three shelves are lined with what looks like books, and as he scans each row he sees boxes that resemble the one he’d accidently found in the mail. Some of the titles on the spins are in English while others are written in a language he vaguely recognizes; Ludger will probably explain it to him, so he simply moves on. The middle two shelves are occupied by figurines of various sizes, each one striking a different, dynamic pose. He stares at one positioned near the front for a few seconds, and then it dawns on him that he’s seen that character…on the cover of that PC game.
The last shelf holds plush toys of strange animals Julius can’t even begin to identify, though one does vaguely resemble a cat if he squints. Next to the toys are an assortment of keychains; some of them look like miniature versions of the figurines, while others looks like drawing printed on a thin piece of plastic. There’s just so much stuff that in front of him he can’t help but feel overwhelmed, and it’s amazes him that he’s never he caught a glimpse of any of it until last week.
“I like anime and manga…they’re basically Japanese cartoons and comics,” he mutters, blush reaching the tips of his ears again.
Julius doesn’t mean for the ‘huh’ he gives off to sound indifferent, so he clears his throat to give a proper response.
“I see…Wait, so you can understand Japanese?”
“Yeah, I’ve been teaching myself since middle school.”
That’s…impressive. As soon as he tells Ludger how amazed he is, his brother gives him a goofy, lopsided smile, but it disappears as quickly as it appears. He admits that learning a language just to further enjoy his hobby doesn’t seem like that big of an achievement, let alone something worth praising. Julius can’t help but feel taken aback, even if some part of him was expecting a response along those lines. Sometimes he forgets about his brother’s self-esteem issues, and it’s in these moments that Julius knows he needs to flex his big brother muscle.
“No, I mean it, I’m seriously impressed,” he says while placing a hand on Ludger’s shoulder. “I don’t think I’d have the motivation to learn a different language just because, let alone for as long as you’ve been doing it. I’m proud of you.”
Ludger looks skeptical, but as a small smile slowly spreads across his lips, Julius knows he’s taken his words to heart.
Once he relaxes a little more, Ludger goes over everything in his closet, from the comic books called manga and why they’re read backwards, to a brief history of what anime is. As he listens intently, flipping through one of the books as he does so, something catches his eye in the corner of the closet.
“What’s that?” Julius asks while motioning to the unmarked carboard box.
“Oh, that? I just keep my old OTP stuff in there. I mean, I still ship a lot of it, but newer stuff…takes …priority…u-um…”
He has no idea what his brother just said, and as Ludger blushes deeply while covering his face, Julius has a feeling this is going to be a long process…
