this game does such a good job starting in medias res. level 45!! i'm past 70 now. i feel like there's a definite chance i'll hit 90 which means siffrin will have done as much fighting in these loops as they did with their friends through months of travel and adventure.

i Am doing a full loop to get the odile thing though... and in doing so i realized apparently i didn't go through the friend quests manually enough times, sif just had a bit of a mental breakdown abt odile's. which does lead up to the last-loop breakdown better!

NOOO I WAS 3/4 OF THE WAY THRU THIS LOOP TO GET A CERTAIN SCENE AND i was on autopilot and meant to use a crest on the tears but i didn't have the crest yet so selecting "yes" meant touching them and dying fuck meee

i hadn't saved at each floor bc i didn't want to touch my save files w this new offshoot canon...

i'm not actually quite sure what info gets carried over from the previous loop when you loop back to the same floor instead of the beginning or forwards? i'm just gonna try and do floor 3 again and see if it works....

either relooping level 3 messed it up or i wasn't able to get enough suspicion points bc the plantain chips didn't make me sick. gonna go slip on the banana five times and try again

We could have had polyamory or a good healthy friendship, but nope non of that. My friend said its a manipulator coming in between a vulnerable drug addict and their partner and how addicts are vulnerable to other people who are ready to manipulate and hurt you for their own.

Edit; I am upset at Jules for her choices in thus situation with Elliot and for just letting Rue leave like that on the highway. Even though I can empathize with both because she's 17 she's a kid as they all are and humans no matter what age make mistakes. I know the whole DND mode move and sneaking around is fucked up from doing that (not cheating really but other stuff). So that game she's playing there is a slippery ass slope and not a good look on her part. Wish Hunter and Zendaya could have just written and stared in a queer perfect love story with its issues but close to perfect though.

Elliot wanted a high friend because then her finally had someone he could relate to. Laurie is telling Rue the truth (we know she goes to her). But, everyone is about to go through it. Hmm, I have incredibly mixed feelings about this. It’s obviously a highly sexualized moment - with the dark lighting, pool, both of them wet, intense staring and so on. What Shivaay does to her here, is exactly what Arnav did when he threw Khushi off a floor. Highly inappropriate things to do. And the only reason I could go through Arnav throwing her off a floor is because: it was in public space, the moment was neither romanticized nor sexualized and there was no Rabba Ve. So I’ll probably ignore the Shivaay and Annika until we come to the wholesome parts :)

The few details about the Agito we get from their weapons is honestly criminal. I want to know more so, so badly.

I really do love how Luca has consistently been like “lol shut up” to every Agito he runs into. He has nothing to prove about himself to these assholes, and he lets them all know it all the damn time.

Actually, I love how the ENTIRE CAST has just fucking had it with the Agito. “You’re weak!” “Shut up while we beat your fucking ass.” The Agito can try to play their mind games all they want now, but the party is just gonna shoot first and ask questions never.

I think the ending of Episode 2 would be more impactful if the episode hadn’t just convinced me of the opposite, haha. Like maybe I’m being a clown, but I don’t think it’s him??? Also the deal with the foreman doesn’t seem to be as clear-cut either. At that point, I think their dad was already dead, so the foreman probably preyed on the sister, knowing the siblings were vulnerable. I see two scenarios if that’s the case. 1) The sister killed him in self-defense and Hee Sung is covering for her, or 2) Hee Sung came to her rescue and killed him. Though the foreman could’ve gone after Hee Sung, I suppose, and the sister stumbled upon the scene. Whatever the case, the siblings parted ways afterwards and that’s the blank time that still needs to be filled in. As for the restaurant guy/his old colleague, Hee Sung’s conversation with him made it pretty clear that HS is not the one who’s been tormenting the guy for the past month. There’s someone else out there masquerading as Do Hyun Soo. I wonder if it’s on purpose and this mystery person is planning on framing him. (I mean, the foundation is right there and HS had that line about bad reputations.) OR this person is emulating Do Min Seok for a reason, and Hyun Soo is the convenient fall guy. Either way, raincoat guy’s lair is definitely where Hee Sung was drowning in the opening scene of Episode 1. I’m very excited to see where this thread goes. I know the end of Hee Sung’s conversation with his old colleague was probably meant to make us think his thoughts turned murderous (so we then doubt HS at the end). But Hee Sung was almost killed and never attempted revenge all these years, let alone retaliating in that forest. He’s determined to keep his current life, so why would he jeopardize this now? Hee Sung is able to neutralize the threat restaurant guy poses with words, AND he still has Moo Jin in his basement to worry about. I highly doubt he would add more to his plate at the moment unless he’s just really fond of both pressure and multi-tasking. What is Hee Sung’s life though? Serial killer for a father, a fugitive suspected of murder… and if that wasn’t enough, he was almost murdered as well. Then there’s whatever’s going on with his “parents”! Moving on to Ji Won - it’s another case for her, this time to get her face to face with a psychopath. Said psychopath also plants the seed in her head that there may be one in her life too. Ji Won shows her smarts yet again throughout the investigation, but what I loved in particular is how dark she got during her confrontation with the suspect. Of course she ultimately has her morals and wouldn’t cross the line (though that is going to be tested later), but damn if she wasn’t scary af when she slapped her and held the razor blade to the suspect’s throat. I thought she and HS matched pretty well in this instance, lol. xP As for the fight with the kids - yeah, Eun Ha shouldn’t have touched the other girl’s doll without permission, but that doesn’t mean she deserved to be hit! Her nose even bled! Like Ji Won, I was also shocked at Hee Sung immediately apologizing and not even asking for an apology in return. However, we see that Hee Sung was actually thinking long-term re: Eun Ha. Their conversation about reputation was very telling, and one of things that makes me think he was falsely accused. His reputation was horrible because of both his father and his status as a social outcast (due to how he doesn’t process emotion normally). Hee Sung is 100% on his daughter’s side. We get the enlightening conversation plus the revelation of what happened to the doll afterward. Of course it’s wrong to steal and trash a child’s doll in retaliation, but if he’s gonna be amoral anyway, I’ll enjoy this petty action on behalf of his daughter, lol. Eun Ha was breaking my heart with her tears and apologies. The child actress is great! And oh so adorable. Speaking of child actors, the drama has done such a great job casting the younger versions of the characters. Young Hee Sung even has JG’s ears, haha. And Im Na Young (Pristin💔), who plays the younger version of his sister (the character’s first name is “Hae Soo”, nobody touch me), has a similar build to Jang Hee Jin. I can’t get over how Moo Jin (the reporter) tormented Hee Sung when they were younger, while also suspecting him to be capable of murder. Maybe don’t antagonize him??? Years later, he writes an article that brings up all this shit again. But somehow he thought it would fine to try and track down Hyun Soo. And then when he comes across him by accident, he approaches him instead of getting the hell out of dodge. AND AFTER THAT when he’s tied up and begging, he thinks he can try and reason with him, lol. By writing that article, Moo Jin stirred the pot for both Hee Sung/Hyun Soo and his sister. It’s said explicitly that their father didn’t get much media coverage back then, but now it’s all going to come back with a vengeance. From the flashback, we see that there were already rumors swirling around and I bet Moo Jin’s younger self only fanned the flames then too. To reiterate, at the moment I’m definitely leaning towards Hee Sung not being a serial killer. Of course, this doesn’t mean he hasn’t committed murder at all, but I don’t think he was his father’s accomplice at the very least and he’s unaware of whatever’s going on with raincoat guy. In the present, he’s just been living his life until Moo Jin walked in the door. I’m still going to keep my clown make-up on stand by, but I’m a little more confident than I was with the first episode. Another solid episode, in my opinion! Keep it going, Flower of Evil. poor magnus has no idea about all the overlord stuff, which is what triggered red alert’s breakdown 

tho, magnus, idk that putting red alert in a cryofreeze chamber or w/e is the solution here. although maybe they’re all just at a loss bc cybertron’s only mental health specialist is current hanging out comatose in a bar

are we supposed to (retrospectively) read into rodimus and drift’s agreement to put red alert in storage as a way of covering up the overlord stuff? did they deduce that he figured out about overlord and that's what caused his breakdown? rodimus seems genuinely distressed about the whole cold storage situation, but is there more to it than ‘I failed as a captain bc this guy had a breakdown under my command’? HHHHHHHHHHHHHH GOD THAT REVEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!! BROOOOO the senator shockwave reveal slapped me right in the FACE the first time I read this, and that's saying something bc I seriously only understood like 40% of the shadowplay story my first readthru. but the shockwave reveal still had me SHOOK like oh god that was so fucking brutal. jesus

like the fact that the emotionless decpeticon shockwave used to have a completely different look and personality is already crazy enough, but then the tie-ins of empurata and shadowplay? brutal and amazing

like, this is the kinda retrospective backstory stuff that I love. it gives a lot of cool depth to both the characters and the world. I feel like it really helped cement concepts like empurata and shadowplay in the world 

and just, AUGH The Reveal still gets me...im pretty sure in my first readhtru I only picked up the fact that the senator PURPOSELY hasn't been named during this issue, and I was kinda ready for some sort of reveal but also figured it could be someone I didn't know bc of my limited tf lore knowledge, but even I knew who shockwave was and phew that blew me away 

that full-page art spread is fuckin banging also 

anyways, shadowplay arc! I really enjoy this arc and all its genre-hopping goodness, and the framing device of the characters telling a story is a lot of fun. plus we get to see a lot of cool backstory for many characters, and got tons of great worldbuilding for jro’s pre-war cybertron. 

I understood a lot more of the story upon my second (and now third) readthru of the series, which was super rewarding bc the first time I wasn't able to follow a lot of stuff (1st readthru I tended to assume that me being confused about something was due to my lack of previous knowledge of lore/story, so I didn't often analyze stuff seriously, or even employ critical thinking skills lmao). 

also some gnarly stuff went on w/the red alert b-plot, which we’ll pick up with later....

So I loved everything about this episode because I am ridiculously easy to please and I love the old samurai flicks and I love monster movies and the Clone Wars ep (why the flying fuck can’t I remember the name it was the one with Obi + Ani + Ahsoka on Felucia with the farmers and then Hondo fuck what was it called) that went kinda like this is one of my favorites and gah merc lady! (Cara?  Her name is definitely Cara, right?)  Omg I know we haven’t gotten any info on Cara yet, but I love that she’s got some softness too, that she doesn’t fall into the new “Strong Woman(TM)” trope where a woman can have no heart and must just beat up and shoot stuff and look hot while doing it.  I’m super excited to see more of her!!!
