Best Underrated Anime Group G Round 2: #G6 vs #G4
#G6: Emperor and Empress bodyswap in ancient China
#G4: Three girls decide to open an animation club
Details and poll under the cut!
Tumblr media
#G6: No Doubt in Us (Liang Bu Yi)
youtube
Summary:
Within the Chinese imperial court, stern-faced Emperor Xiao Jinyun and spirited Empress Xu Yu are at constant odds with one another. But the universe has an interesting way to solve their issues: an accident causes the two to switch bodies, forcing them to put themselves in the other’s shoes—literally. Now responsible for unfamiliar duties and court dynamics, the Emperor and the Empress must navigate the maintenance of their identities, unruly concubines, and the nation itself. In doing so, Xiao Jinyun and Xu Yu’s personal qualities and unconventional skills find new purpose, and a sense of understanding and compassion grows between the two.
However, great threats loom within and outside the court. If the imperial astrologer cannot discover the key to switching them back in time, then internal strife and suspicion may lead to the duo's untimely demise.
Propaganda:
Liang Bu Yi/No Doubt in Us is one of the most interesting donghua I’ve ever watched. The characters have varying personalities and, because it’s set in ancient China, are rather unique. Considering that Emperors had to keep harems and the fact that this is a straight couple rom-com makes the drama rather spicy. Plus, the Empress is far more qualified in the things a woman in those times wouldn’t be interested in, like sword fighting, archery etc.
To be honest, the contrast between Xu Yu (the Empress) and Xiao Jinyun (the Emperor) results in the show being far more interesting than other ones with the same trope.
Trigger Warnings: None.
Tumblr media
#G4: Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! (Eizouken ni wa Te wo Dasu na!)
youtube
Summary:
Midori Asakusa draws detailed landscapes and backgrounds of both the world around her and the one within her boundless imagination. Even the simple act of doodling on a wall evolves into an emergency repair on the outer hull of her spaceship. She is only brought back to reality by her best friend Sayaka Kanamori. The two are stark opposites, with Asakusa’s childlike wonder contrasted by Kanamori’s calculated approach to life.
After a chance encounter where the two “save” the young model Tsubame Misuzaki from her overprotective bodyguard, a connection instantly sparks between Asakusa and Misuzaki, as both share an intense passion for art and animation. Whereas Asakusa is interested in backgrounds and settings, Misuzaki loves drawing the human form. Sensing a money-making opportunity, Kanamori suggests that they start an animation club. Thus begins the trio’s journey of producing animation that will awe the world.
Propaganda:
It’s playing with animation in a really cool way, AND it is just gorgeous. The backgrounds are done in a beautiful painterly style, and each environment is detailed and evokes wonder.
Each of the three girls is a unique and fleshed-out character, and their interactions and blossoming friendship are super fun and wholesome to watch. The dialogue is also very realistic—it really feels like what three high school nerdy girl friends would talk about. Each has her own strengths, in animation, organization and craft, such that they really come together as a team and manage to make something beautiful.
The show is fun, heartwarming and doesn’t take itself too seriously, but at the same time it is so so sincere. Quiet and serious moments can be quiet and serious without needless bathos, and fun sequences (like a chase through the school) are given extra effort to be zany and funny, and fully animated in both senses of the word. Above all, you feel a strong love for animation and deep wonder of the world permeating the series.
Trigger Warnings: Flashing lights in the opening theme

Magia Record 4 | Uchitama 3 - 5 | Eizouken 5 | Iruma-kun 17 - 18 | BnHA 76 - 79 | ID: Invaded 5 - 7
Magia Record 4
There’s a fish behind Iroha. Also, I was confused about the ketchup cake thing Jenn mentiond in one of her posts until I saw it here.(On a related note, ketchup cake seems to really exist…but only in Canada.)
Ah! Tsuruno. I’ve heard of her from reading around about this mobage.
The coding of the episode went funny again…
I feel like despite this being everything Madoka was, this seems to have lost some of the charm somehow. I’ve been reading that others are having similar experiences, though. Update: I think I know why now…although there are magical girl events fuelling the entire thing, the show is currently more bent on being a CGDCT. That’s why I’m not so happy with it…I dunno about others, though.
I suspected Séance Shrine was Mizuna Shrine…I mean, it was right behind Iroha and co.
Who was that blonde girl…?
I thought I just saw face-stealing aliens swoop in (i.e. someone didn’t bother drawing in the girls’ faces). I thought that was just a Bones thing exclusive to BSD.
“Olibe oil” (sic). Also, there are creepy blue (green?) figures walking the aisles…
I notice Iroha needed an extra bounce to get over the gate.
What’s that orange marking on the girls’ faces…? Update: Reading the wiki reveals it’s the Witch’s Kiss, or something similar to it.
Uchitama 3
Well, it says “chome” but gets translated to “street”…which is a bit weird. A chome is a city district, which functions much like a street but isn’t the same.
I just realised the title card has a dog’s face on it. Maybe next time it’ll be a cat’s face…
Oh my gosh, it’s a Yu-Gi-Oh duel! Teenager-ness…(?) What is that (LOL)?! *squints at screen* Oh, chuunibyou. That makes sense.
They even materialised the (Gon’s) chair! (LOL)
At least this matchup isn’t Bull vs. Momo…thank goodness(!)
I seriously love how much skin they make Bull show…(LOL…?)
Well, if the race to the top is exciting then the race to the bottom should be humiliating, no? That’s how these things work.
LOL, just seeing a badass dude that’s meant to represent a wolf howling like one is hilarious. (But seriously, are any of these neighbourhood dogs a Bad Enough Dude, to paraphrase an old game meme?)
Don’t Naruto run, Pochi! It’s dangerous!
Ahhhhhhh, so that’s why people call Pochi “Shiro” and feed him tofu…
The video got encoded funny again…
Uchitama 4
This is like Wakasa all over again…
The “My Name is Gon” title is a reference to “I Am a Cat” (Wahagai wa Neko de Aru). It actually doesn’t have the word for “name” in there, which is a bit weird…Update: It’s about the day-to-day introspection and life of a cat and the wagahai suggests the cat thinks rather highly of himself, so I’d assume the former (applied to a dog of course), if not both of those things to be part of this.
The fact that Gon doesn’t move his mouth while telling us weird things (such as how Bull’s sweater reminds him of an old lady in Osaka) is hilarious. It’s almost like a play with Gon as narrator.
See? That titlecard has a different dog’s face now! (I believe it’s Kuro’s, actually.)
This series is actually really informative about cats and dogs!
The Detective Conan parody cat is pretty interesting in regards to how the series wants to play with the human/animal dichotomy.
Now the titlecard has a cat’s face.
This song is so energetic! The banners are pretty funny too – I mean, “trying to get a ripped body” is impossible for a dog, right?
Yyyyyyyyup, Ume is singing this song (Sanchome no Hoshi* or The Star of 3rd District*)! I’m being spoilt!
Eizouken 5
Iron Giant…I thought the name sounded familiar. Turns out it’s a Brad Bird-directed movie.
This episode is very Scott...LOL.
I like how they showed the back of the guy to correspond with the back of the robot.
Iruma 17
Gap = sukima, as you might know from a post I made re: Mairimashita! Iruma-kun puns.
“Yes, boss!” in English.
Why do people being questioned  at a koban always have katsudhum? (Hataraku Maousama reference)
Ooh, this long-haired demon from the Game or New Magic battler is hot!!!
That's the 1st time Acchan and Bakemi appear...
I'd assume the ga in Gabuko means gakkou (school).
Now it's ki su ma...(instead of sukima)
Iruma 18
Aw, Kiriwo's so cute...
...and he's now a sadist. (Good job, me...I don't like sadists much.)
The cyclops girl's name is Dosanko, huh?
Hanabi are "fire flowers" (translating somewhat literally), which is why they "bloom" in the translation.
Update: Oh, I accidentally skipped ep. 17. I was wondering how Sabro got to hold up Comecome's stall…
BnHA 76
I’m not sure how the subbers got “Go entropy! Plus Chaos!”, although it might have something to do with Saikou da! (which I made out from listening to the audio).
Okay, now you can hear them say “Plus Chaos”.
Note Overhaul’s eyecatch background is purple, which contrasts Deku’s green. By the way, the eyecatch says that Overhaul belongs to the Shie Hassaikai and not the League…the guy’s always been picky about not being associated with the League.
The one time I turn the volume off, I don’t need it (LOL).
Dame da is closer to “It’s useless” or “You’re useless” than “Naughty girl”, subbers.
The coronavirus has taught me that masks make people seem less human, especially those with weird mouths like Overhaul’s plague doctor/bird one.
BnHA 77
In one of the Discord servers where Mudamaid appears, I decided to take Chronostasis. Why? He isn’t that bad-looking when he hasn’t got his mask on, to be real with you.
Froppy uses “senpai”, not Tamaki’s hero name.
I believe Tamaki calls Tsuyu “Kero-chan”, hence “Miss Ribbit”.
I wanna cry…I know Nighteye won’t see All Might again until All Might himself dies…(and this is because I’ve read the manga – thanks Viz and Shonen Jump for doing that!)
Shigaraki makes me beg the question…where do those hands of his come from??? Update: Ewwwwwwwww, those hands come from individuals affected by Tomura’s Quirk! (I think that’s a spoiler though…)
I almost got to the point of crying. I mean, I knew it would happen, but seeing it animated…makes it worse, y’know??? (Also, I accidentally might’ve stuck my finger in my eye when I was trying to wipe away tears, so either way, I teared up.)
BnHA 78
Huh? This OP is awfully cheerful after Nighteye’s death…I think it’s called Star Maker? Update: Star Marker by Kana Boon.
Well, you do realise I don’t know about anything after this point…all over again. So your surprise will be mine too.
LOL , it’s a Titan! (Apparently – according to the wiki pages I read – Gigantomachia is based on the Titans of lore, so…that’s true in more than one sense when you take into account Attack on Titan.)
The birbs are so cute!
That was just a few solid minutes of recap. Not as bad as Detective Conan where they frontend it, but still bad.
Hmm? I thought I saw black hair on Kurogiri…?
“He’s a walking disaster.” – That’s what I’d say about Bakugou, LOL.
Shouto “Daddy Issues” Todoroki taking the stage again…not that I mind, but…isn’t this Midoriya’s story?
I think I saw a Funko Pop All Might in the ED…?
You can see someone with a red wing Quirk. Based on what I’ve read around, that guy is Hawks.
Deku’s shirt at the end says “sheets”, not “shirt” (it’s missing a small ya).
BnHA 79
“…and I like udon better!” - *facepalm* That’s not how you make friends, Yoarashi.
Gang Orca’s like the Gordon Ramsay of heroes…with much less swearing.
*laughs behind hands as kids spill out the door* Welp, this is going to be real good.
This blonde kid is basically Monoma ver. 2!!! I hate him already!!!
Oh…that’s surprisingly strategic, Bakugou…*shows image of kid being dangled by a rope* Uh…or maybe not.
Who’s this guy with the bolo tie, anyway…?
Uchitama 5
I seriously thought this cat was Nora…(Sakura)
Does “big sister” refer to Lilly or another cat…?
Oh, I was wondering why Sakura didn’t have a cat tail…turns out she’s a pig. (Huh. It reminds me of a kinder version of the Africa Salaryman mixer joke.)
I like how open the series is in regards to interspecies love. Then again,…bestiality is an absolute no-no in my books, so maybe not.
Is it just me, or is there a slight bruise around Nora’s left eye…?
It’s like a Boueibu reunion! Shirai and Ume at the baths! Yay~!
There’s something absolutely silly about seeing anime boys hide in cupboards like cats. It puts a stupid smile on my face, like Eizouken does.
“I told you to get in the bath already!” – Gaddammit, Koma!
How do Gon’s glasses not fog up in the bath? (MST3K mantra required)
Oh, Nora does have a bruise around his eye! What’s it from, though?
Way to upsell Koma’s services, Kuro. (partially sarcastic…?)
“Can I say we’re having a doggone good time?” – Remind me to check what that sounds like in Japanese later. Update: Kuro says something that sounds lik izoizo in the line beforehand and then matches it in this line. In order to match the puns, there’s a pun in the English translation too.
ID: Invaded 5
Matsuoka’s glasses thing reminds me of Kanamori (Eizouken)…
“hole experience” – Is that a pun…?
Never ask a woman her age.
Hmm…”maidenly innocence”…
Why do some people believe “never mind” is one word???
I just noticed there’s a differently coloured bar on the title card…maybe that’s how far into the episode you should be. Also, is this well a pun on “falling for you”?
I noticed the blood had a weird texture to it. Also, I noticed the woman had heterochromia bfore it was pointed out she’s not real.
I have a theory. See, John(nie) Walker is an alcohol (sake) brand, right? This is Sakaido (as opposed to Anaido, who’s the Perforator and ana = hole). It’s the same character, so (I suspect) Sakaido’s crime has to do with alcohol…
Hmm…this ain’t gonna pass the Bechdel test after all…
Oh! Post-credits segment! Keep watching.
ID: Invaded 6
“Matsuoka was injured” – Er, he still has the knife in him…?
Ohhhhhh…this has gotta be Hondomachi!
I predict Hondomachi and Sakaido are going to go head-to-head someday. Update: Or those two vs. Johnnie Walker.
There was a cut-off footprint…
Isn’t it possible for a person to kill someone without knowing their name?
*cries* Sakaido! I’ve never seen you so emotional before…!
ID: Invaded 7
So Narihisago did look like Sakaido at one point…when his daughter was murdered.
The thing that reads cognition particles has “Back ground. Rad. Lev.” on the bottom of its screen.
I don’t have the sound on right now, so I dunno what Matsuoka was reacting to specifically…(aside from the guy owning up to whatever was done.)
Interestingly, Katsuyama has the character for “win” in his name. However, this is the only link I’ve found between the serial killers and their names.
There’s a character which appears in both the word for “martial arts” and one of the (dead) professional fighters – Takehiko Fujita. It means stuff like “war” and “military power”.
Oh! There’s a bar on the titlecard and this one is up to 900 of 1200…I wonder what that means? Is that an indication of time, perhaps? Also in the bottom left, “CAM 025”.
Miyo Hijiriido?! Oh my gosh! This is new, indeed!
Okay, so the characters for Miyo look like this: 聖井戸 御代 The first character in “Miyo” is the same one that denotes “go” in goryoushin (formal way to denote “parents”) and similar words in keigo. The characters which aren’t “well” (water well) are the character for “saint/holy” and “age” (as in the period of time, alternatively “generation”), aside from the one I’ve already discussed. Therefore, I’d suggest Miyo is actually “the great detective [who ushers in a new] age” or “the great detective [of the current] age”. Update: Apparently Miyo means “age of a ruler”, as in the period of their reign (specifically referring to the emperor if it needs to be). I’ve heard there’s specific words in the Japanese language used only to refer to the imperial family…this is probably one of them. That specific name combo (as “odai”) is also a very polite way to refer to spare change, although that doesn’t seem very useful to know.
What’s that thing on Tamotsu’s wrist…? (A watch? Wouldn’t that be illegal in a prison like this?)
Interestingly, all other killers wear white. Narihisago is the only one in black (or brown…or whatever colour that is).
What would Miyo need a key for? The key to the mystery, or a physical key?
I don’t think you can see Narihisago’s face in any of the pics he has of Muku or his wife.
Ooh…Sakaido’s pretty ripped. (Me likey…not that I would like a killer…)
Why is Sakaido…or I should say Narihisago…dead in his own imagination, huh?
Hmm…Miyo wears a black singlet or sleeveless top of some sort under that cape...poncho…Holmes cosplay thing. She still has a gun in her detective form, too.
Notably, no detective wears a skirt in this world…*sigh* So much for Nancy Drew and Miss Marple…
Muku has smiley faces on her hair decs.
Does that mean you’ve met the real Muku…? (I think this is Momoki speaking about Muku.) Update: It might be Habutae, actually. I never really got a grasp on the names of the peanut gallery.
Hondomachi’s never seen the cockpit in real life, right?
Well-ception! (It’s a bit of a joke that when there’s something in something, I call it [X]ception as a homage to Inception.)
Table flip! That meme hasn’t been around for a while, come to think of it…
I find it interesting that they point to the circles of the roof when talking about pi. As you know, the circle and pi are related.
Hmm? I don’t remember seing the quote “Let us try to make this world a better place” in this episode…

Watch 16 VAs' Gorgeous Idol Performances in "Welcome to Pri☆Chan Land!" Concert Digest
avex pictures' official YouTube channel has started steaming a seven and half minute digest of the "Welcome to Pri☆Chan Land!" concert held at Nakano Sunplaza in Tokyo on August 22, 2021.

Nampō Roku, Book 3 (11):  the Chū-ō-joku [中央卓].
Tumblr media
11) The chū-ō-joku¹ may also be placed in the seat [on the utensil mat] that is occupied by the tana².  This was [first] done by a person affiliated with the Shino school of incense³.
A disciple of [Shino] Sōshin [宗信], [named] Yūpa [有巴]⁴, also [liked] to serve tea in his own eccentric way⁵, as a man of fūryū [風流]⁶.  It was he who first placed the chū-ō-joku [on the utensil mat and used it as the tana during the service of tea].  This joku was placed in the very center of the tana-datami [棚疊]⁷.  During the shoza, on the upper [shelf] was placed a meibutsu kōro [名物香爐], while below the kyōji [きやうじ] and koji-tate [こじ立] were displayed⁸; and incense was passed around⁹.  [At the beginning of] the goza, again a meibutsu chaire was placed [on the upper shelf], while below [he] placed a mizusashi, and tea was prepared.  A couple of sketches will follow [later in Book Three]¹⁰.
It has been handed down that Sōeki, too, finding [Sōha's way of doing things] most interesting¹¹, occasionally made use [of the chū-ō-joku in this way during his own gatherings]¹².
_________________________
¹Chū-ō-joku [中央卓].
This tana was originally made as a sort of stand on which a high court-noble (a kuge [公家]:  in the present context, this hereditary nobleman would differ from a samurai occupying the same court office -- since a samurai might not be inclined to take this behavior seriously) placed his formal cap of office (which was made from bamboo and horse-hair, and then lacquered) on those rare occasions* when he was not wearing it.
When used in this way, an incense burner was placed on the bottom shelf, while the cap itself was set on the upper shelf so that the smoke from the censer would perfume the cap.
These tana were often imported from the continent†, and (since they were intended for use by the nobility) of exquisite workmanship, and very costly.  Consequently, they were coveted by the wealth machi-shū‡, who displayed them in the tokonoma with a small flower arrangement below, and a censer (to perfume the room) above.
Tumblr media
Chū-ō-joku came in three varieties:  those with four, with three, and with two legs.
Tumblr media
According to the old writings, only those with two or three legs could be used for chanoyu -- since, in the case of those with four legs, the leg at the front of the tana interfered with the free use of the hishaku when dipping water from the mizusashi into the kama.
Though it is not clear from surviving writings from this period, it appears that the chū-ō-joku was originally used only with the ro.
Tumblr media
The kuwa ko-joku [桑小卓] (left) and Kōrai-joku [高麗卓] (right) are more modern examples of the chū-ō-joku that came into use during the Edo period. __________ *When sleeping, and sometimes when relaxing in his private chambers.  Though even here, classical sketches suggest that the cap was rarely removed.  Classical writings going back to the Heian period suggest that it was considered rude, or at least undignified, for a nobleman to ever be seen without his cap.
†They were used (for the same purpose) by the nobility in both China and Korea, and classical examples in Japan originated from both places.
‡The machi-shū, regardless of their personal wealth, were not entitled to this sort of headdress.  Thus they evolved an alternate use for the chū-ō-joku.
²Tana no za ni mo oku nari [棚の座にも置也].
In other words, in addition to its being placed in the tokonoma*, the chū-ō-dana could also be displayed on the utensil mat, in the same way as any other oki-dana. __________ *Since the practitioners of chanoyu were primarily of the samurai and merchant classes, the question of how the chū-ō-dana was arranged in the room when used as a repository for a formal cap is not considered here.
³Kore ha Shino-ryū kō-no-kata yori shidasareshi-koto nari [これは志野流香の方より仕出されし事也].
The Shino-ryū [志野流], which derived from Shino Sōshin [志野宗信; 1406 ~ 1490] (who was an immigrant from Korea) and his son (who also used the name Shino Sōshin [志野宗信; 1441 ~ 1533]) was one of the two main schools of incense.  The other was the Oie-ryū [御家流], which descended from the nobleman Sanjō-nishi Sanetaka [三條西實隆; 1455 ~ 1537].
Kō-no-kata [香の方] means a practitioner or "follower" of kōdō [香道], the "Way of Incense."
It should be noted that the original Shino family's focus (which used sniffing incense as a way to attain and cultivate samadhi) is much better described by the word kōdō than the approach that was favored by the Oie-ryū (where training in incense appreciation was directed at mastering the rules governing various ancient competition-style games -- in the same way that matcha, prepared as usucha, was used for tō-cha [鬪茶] contests before the introduction of chanoyu from Korea).  Since the original Shino family became extinct (Shino Shōha, Rikyū's friend and contemporary, was the last of the line), the Shino school has changed their focus to resemble the Oie school.
⁴Yūpa [有巴].
This appears to be a misreading of the first character of the name Shōha [省巴], perhaps due to its having been written in the cursive style (which could resemble the kanji yū [有]).  This refers to Shino Shōha [志野省巴; 1502 ~ 1571], who seems to have been the son of Shino Sō-on [志野宗温; 1477 ~ 1557*], rather than merely a disciple of the school.
Shino Shōha was born in the same year as Jōō.
The early Shino family history was lost with Shōha, and (much as is the case with Rikyū) the family's hereditary mythology was concocted during the Edo period. __________ *His dates are also given as ? ~ 1562.
⁵Cha wo mo ichi-fū tatete [茶をも一風たてゝ].
Ichi-fū [一風] means oddity, eccentricity, peculiarity.  In other words (it must be remembered that the text we are reading was written in the Edo period, and so reflects Edo period norms), Shōha did not serve tea according to the rules of a given school*, but did things in his own, eccentric, way.
There is a note of condescension here -- that a practitioner† of incense should presume to practice chanoyu, he must necessarily be doing something unorthodox and strange‡.  While it was virtually a rule, in the Edo period, that a person should concentrate on one activity only, Rikyū and his contemporaries were quite free to indulge their inclinations where they saw fit.  Thus, the clippers that are used by most of the ikebana schools -- though never by the tea schools -- are known as Rikyū-basami [利休鋏] (because they were created by Rikyū after Hideyoshi prohibited the presence of even a small knife in the tearoom); and Rikyū, far from focusing exclusively on wabi chabana created from one or two buds, was responsible for the massive rikka [立華] that decorated Hideyoshi’s shoin.
Jōō, Rikyū, Shino Shōha, Ikenobo Senkō [池坊專好; 1536 ~ 1621], Hosokawa Yūsai [細川幽齋; 1534 ~ 1610], and Tsuda Sōkyū, among many of their contemporaries, were all what we would call masters** of chanoyu, ikebana, incense, and poetry -- and followers of no special “school” (in the modern sense of the word) in any of these things. __________ *In point of fact, there were no such institutions until the Edo period.  In Jōō’s and Rikyū’s day, everyone performed chanoyu according to his own way.  Rikyū’s teachings embodied the basic rules; but within this framework, everyone was free to improvise as he saw fit.
†Though, as a matter of fact, Shōha was effectively the iemoto of the Shino school -- though that sort of position did not exist until the Edo period.
‡Again, with the generations indoctrinated in Kanamori Sōwa’s chanoyu history, there was little chance that anyone would understand that Jōō actually developed his idea for the cha-kai [茶會] from the kō-kai [香會] that had been created by Shino Sōshin and Sō-on; and that Jōō's chakai was, originally, little more than a variant of the Shino family's gatherings (with his guests drawn almost exclusively from among the acquaintances that he had made while participating in the Shino's gatherings, and with Jōō serving koicha to all of the guests, as well as usucha).
**One other thing distinguishes these men from their successors:  While the Japanese, since the Edo period, have come to consider a professional to be one who has no personal interest in his professional activity -- interest, "passion," are the hallmarks of the amateur -- Jōō, Rikyū, and all of the others were passionately interested in chanoyu, and all of the other activities to which they gave themselves.  True mastery, true creativity, can only come from passion.  Dispassionate impartiality is what ushered in the chanoyu-by-the-numbers approach:  when one has no interest in what one is doing, then he must learn to do it by rote, without thinking, otherwise he will be lost.  Modern-day chanoyu is burdened under an infinity of rules; Rikyū, on the other hand, had only one rule:  yu wo wakashi, cha wo tatete nomu [湯を沸し、茶を立てて飲む] -- “make the hot water boil, and after the tea is prepared, drink it.”  Rikyū never received (or purchased) a menjō....
⁶ Fūryū no hito [風流の人].
A fūryū-jin [風流人] is a man of refined taste, what we might term an aesthete.  But, far from an affectation, such people actually lived their lives in the pursuit of beauty -- in at least in some cases, as a way of cultivating samadhi.
⁷Tana-datami [棚疊].
The word means the tatami on which the oki-dana is usually put -- the utensil mat.
⁸Shoza, ue ni meibutsu kōro, shita ni kōji・koji-tate wo kazarite [初座、上に名物香爐、下にきやうじ・こじ立をかざりて].
Though the author of this entry seems to have been quite unaware of the fact, this was basically how the Shino family organized their kō-kai.
During the shoza, Shōha offered kyara [伽羅] incense for the guests to appreciate, and during the goza he served them tea*.
Kōji [きやうじ = 香筋] are chopsticks, made of ebony (or sometimes, ivory), that are used to handle the small pieces of kyara incense wood.
Koji-tate [こじ立 = 火筋建]:  koji [火筋] are what we usually call hibashi [火箸], metal chopsticks used to handle the charcoal.  The koji-tate was a vase-like vessel in which the koji (and the other implements used to prepare the kōro) were stood.
The koji-tate took the place of the flower arrangement that had become customary with the machi-shū use of the chū-ō-joku. ___________ *Perhaps Shino Shōha continued to follow the earlier practice of only serving koicha to the shōkyaku, while all of the other guests received a bowl of usucha, as Sō-on (his father) had done.  However, given his closeness to Rikyū, this point is in doubt.
⁹Kō wo mawashi [香を廻し].
This expression means that the kiki-kōro [聞き香爐] -- the small censer that was held in the hands while sniffing the incense -- was passed around.
Generally, the censer was passed from hand to hand three times (with the host usually taking a turn to smell the incense at the end of each round, so he could appreciate it, too), so that everyone would be able to “listen to” each of the three stages of burning.
¹⁰Zu shōshō hidari ni shirusu [圖少々左に記す].
Three pairs (shoza・goza) of sketches are found near the end of Book Three of the Nampō Roku.  These will be published as installments 51, 52, and 53.
¹¹Sōeki mo ichidan omoshiroi to te [宗易も一段面白きとて].
Sōeki [宗易], of course, refers to Rikyū.
Ichidan omoshiroi [一段面白い] means something like “all the more interesting;” or “more and more interesting.”
The meaning seems to be that, while it might be expected that Rikyū would have had an interest in any antique tana (this idea is itself doubtful), and considered how to use it for chanoyu, the fact that his friend Shōha was already using the chū-ō-joku in this way would have made it all the more interesting to him.
Without any knowledge of the actual evolution of the practice, it is probably natural that an Edo period commentator would write something like this.  Fortunately, we can be sure that Rikyū, himself, was not so ignorant or ill-informed about things that had occurred during his lifetime.
¹²Yojō-han ni te tabi-tabi yō tamau [四疊半にてたび〰用給ふ].
Here it appears to be the intention of the author to reinforce the (Edo period) idea that oki-dana were only to be used in rooms of 4.5-mats (and larger).  This may have been especially important to him because many chū-ō-joku are small enough to be placed beside a mukō-ro*, as well as beside the furo†.
The passage is trying to avoid the idea that Rikyū was influenced by Shōha directly.  Rather, the author seems to be saying that Rikyū saw how Shōha was using this tana, and that inspired him to try his own hand at using it.
The word tamau [給う], which I have translated as “it has been handed down” (the phrase was transposed to the beginning of the sentence to make it more readable) shows us that this passage was written in the Edo period (as, of course, does the language that is used throughout this book).  Nambō Sōkei would never have used this expression, since his observations would have been made directly -- rather than based on second- or third-hand sources (which is what tamau implies). __________ *As was Rikyū's original kyū-dai [休臺] (this tana, which was inspired by the kyū-dai daisu [及第臺子], is known to us as the shi-hō-dana [四方棚]).
†The chū-o-joku was the inspiration for the second version of the kyū-dai -- the tana that we know as the maru-joku [丸卓].  The maru-joku was created specifically to be placed next to a ko-ita furo (it raises the mizusashi to the height it would occupy if placed on the daisu; meanwhile, since only a large furo was placed on the ko-ita, the relationship between the mizusashi on the maru-joku and the mouth of the kama is similar to that of the mizusashi to the kama resting on the medium-sized bronze kimen-buro that is used on the daisu).

Due to the COVID-19 infection concerns, the concert will be held without an audience.
They have held the anniversary concert every November since 2013. Last year's "i☆Ris 7th Anniversary Live ~Shichifuku Banrai~" was held at Pacifico Yokohama National Convention Hall in Kanagawa on November 24, 2019, and its tickets were, of course, sold out.
This eighth-anniversary concert will be their first solo event in a year because their national tour, which had been held every spring, has been postponed due to the influence of COVID-19. Tickets for the online viewing will be available from 18:00 on October 8 to 19:00 on November 9 (JST).
The unit was formed by the six winners of the 1st Anison Vocal Audition held by avex and 81 Produce in August 2012 and is best known for their voice appearances in PriPra (2014-2017) and its sequel Idol Time PriPara (2017-2018). A New Character Named "Yui" Inspired by Idol Time PriPara's Yui to Join Kiratto Pri☆Chan
The official Twitter for the TV anime Kiratto Pri☆Chan has announced two new characters will join its story soon - Yui and Yui's mascot. Yui is obviously inspired by Yui Yumekawa, the protagonist of the Pretty series' previous installment Idol Time PriPara (2017-2018). But according to the tweet, this Yui is going to have a different last name than Yumekawa in the Pri☆Chan story.
Kiratto Pri☆Chan has already had two characters based on the protagonists of the previous Pretty series - Aira Nanahoshi who is inspired by Aira Harune in Pretty Rhythm: Aurora Dream (2011-2012) and Naru Shiawase who is inspired by Naru Ayase in Pretty Rhythm: Rainbow Live (2013-2014). So Yui's appearance is not surprise for the fans of Pretty series, but it is a very happy one.
With the addition of Yui, what fans expect most right now is, of course, the appearance of Laala Manaka, the protagonist of PriPara (2014-2017) and the most iconic character in the whole Pretty series. Will it ever happen in the Pri☆Chan story? Wait and see.
Meanwhile, the unnamed character who is introduced only as "Yui's mascot" looks just like Kuma, the mascot manager on SoLaMi Smile in PriPara. In the story of Idol Time PiPara, however, Yui Yumekawa had her own manager named Punicorn. How is their relationship set up in the Pri☆Chan story?
ぜひ予想してみてくださいね♡#prichan pic.twitter.com/pi6kDY5pok
