hi! i just wanna tell you that i LOVE your art style! first your lines are soft and gently. secondly love your color development! the color is felt in a solid silhouette but it doesn't "stand still" and changes and i love to look at it. thirdly i praise your work with color and i'll do it again! 'cause they're clean and gentle… i'm a bit of a fan of academic painting and its principles so it's nice to look at your work. i hope you're not on bad terms with academic stuff, 'cause it would be awkward!!!

aww thank you!! I do enjoy academic work, and I think its very important to do as much of it as you can bear, because it'll make any sort of character work or illustration much stronger.

A lot of the artists I follow on instagram (unfortunately my home base) are actually academic artists— meaning they primarily focus on life drawing. I borrow what I can from them and infuse it into my own work. That's probably where the softness comes from. I'm deeply obsessed with like, making something feel tangible while still preserving mark and texture. I think the best works of art are things that feel viscerally real but are still very clearly crafted from hand. photorealism never landed w/ me because I don't want to erase my mark, nor the way I experience the visual world.

In more life events as my college career draws to a close: I wrote a short story for my intro to writing course and she gave me a 98, so as I am very inclined to eventually forget this or imposter-syndrome my way into thinking it was a pity grade, PLEASE tell me otherwise (this post is an accountability structure).

#for legal reasons this is a joke #okay maybe not legal but ethical #moral perhaps #it's disingenous to suggest that I didn't absolutelty lock into that essay and it wasn't necessary to ref the matrix of oppression at all #I LOVE sociological theory.
