Just watched Run BTS Hangul day episode 1 where Yoongi is making fun of Jimin having zero points. Someone should probably let Yoongi know there were other people present in this episode because I don't think he knew for a lot of it. 😂

Yes! And I felt like the opposite was true too; Jimin seemed very focused on Yoongi.

This little flirty moment...I honestly don’t know how Yoongi managed to keep a straight face.

And then Yoongi asked Jimin if he had zero points and this was Jimin’s reaction:

Yes, Yoongi. We can tell:

“Everyone,” Jimin says, but seems like he’s speaking to one person in particular.

Anyway, this episode reminds me so much of Yoongi saying “I tease Jimin because I love him.”

Random (and rambling) yoonmin thoughts…

Some speculation and some comparisons to other pairs here. If that doesn’t sound like your thing, feel free to move on to greener pastures. 🌾

☑️ We have so many examples of Yoongi starting to hold Jimin’s hand but stopping himself

☑️ and in many cases Jimin does not reciprocate even though we know he and Yoongi are close

☑️ and on both sides, we see behavior that is unique. Yes, Yoongi has gone to hold the hands of other members but stopped himself (I guess? I only know of one example and it’s with Tae in a stressful red carpet situation. I’m not aware of the example with Jin mentioned by anon here; if anyone knows please send me a link 🙏), but otherwise his behavior towards Jimin is the outlier not the norm, in my opinion

☑️ because with Jimin, it’s often Yoongi who initiates

☑️ when we see “awkward” moments between Yoongi and other members, it’s often because he thinks they want to hold hands or hug or whatever or because it’s time to hold hands while they bow or because he’s nudging them to communicate something and people read something into it that isn’t there (I have a few examples in mind, but I don’t want to rain on anyone’s parade)

☑️ but with Jimin, he’ll be minding his own business and then here comes Yoongi wanting to hold hands

☑️ and Jimin’s behavior toward Yoongi (affectionate but careful) is the outlier not the norm for him, compared with how he acts toward the ml and with Hobi (very open)

☑️ and we can’t look at the hand-holding phenomenon and forget that yoonmin spend a lot of time together outside of work

☑️ and when yoonmin have held hands—prior to 2023—it’s been either: 1. under the guise of a game or 2. when (I think) they possibly assumed the cameras weren’t rolling or they weren’t in the shot or it would be edited out.

☑️ and then in 2023, they were affectionate without hesitation (😭) and even though we had tons of content of these two, we don’t see a single “oops I want to hold your hand no I don’t” moment.

The questions I keep coming back to are:

❔Why would these two be so careful about holding hands on camera? All of the guys hold hands…what’s the big deal?

❔Why would that concern, whatever it was, vanish completely in 2023?

These aren’t rhetorical questions; I’d love it if anyone wants to chime in with their thoughts. Their behavior (especially Yoongi’s!) toward each other when it comes to affection is a topic that rolls around in my brain often and I’d love to discuss it.

I’m sure I’m forgetting something here, some important moment that doesn’t fit these patterns, but it does seem like there was a clear change during Ch 2. I tried to provide several examples but we’re dealing with such a large amount of data spread out over 10 years…it’s hard to capture it all.

A few things that stood out to me in episode 29:

1. Jimin says he hopes his partner is Tae since he’d recently bought him a birthday present that he’d like to use in his styling. However, just in case, Jimin chooses three outfits so that he can pick the best one depending on who he is paired up with. As they discuss this, Yoongi says, “He’s so thoroughly prepared.”

2. The guys select a partner at random by throwing a rose. This shouldn’t be a big deal…but it is? Yoongi throws his rose and it lands near both Hobi and Jimin. There is so much discussion about who the rose is closest too, and Yoongi steps off the platform and is on the floor examining the rose’s location. Jimin says, “It’s just wearing clothes, but why am I so nervous?”

3. Yoongi throws the rose again. This time he says, “Go to Jimin!” And the subs: “I only see you.” Ok.

4. Their reactions when the rose lands in front of Jimin!

6. When Jungkook throws his rose, there is again some debate. Yoongi seems to want Jimin’s opinion on the matter. (⚠️ Speculation; watch for yourself and decide)

7. Jimin reveals his outfit (chosen by Yoongi). Again, I’m speculating here, but Yoongi seems a little shy and starstruck. Yoongi notices that Jimin left the tag on and Jimin explains he did so because the outfit is Yoongi’s not his. Yoongi says he could have taken the tag off; he wouldn’t mind. This whole exchange is so soft! Jimin then says that he doesn’t normally wear outfits like this and Yoongi says, amused, that he doesn’t usually either. The whole thing is just so sweet, the way they speak to each other. ❤️‍🩹

There’s a lot I didn’t cover here (there was so much 2seok in this episode! they were so cute!), but those were just the yoonmin moments that stood out to me. What did you think of this episode?

when you establish music as the one thing you love most in this world and then proceed to spend years proclaiming there’s a certain person who has your favorite voice, that you love writing and producing for, and that you wanna be in a subunit with over and over again,,, how can that not be a love confession

I was talking a couple of days ago to my Korean friend about relationships and the differences between western and Korean relationships. One of the differences she pointed out is that while in Europe you usually move in together while you are dating, in Korea you only move in together AFTER you get married.

And yesterday it got me thinking about how despite spending so much together, how little we know about Jimin's house and how we know nothing about Yoongi's, we do know they have separate houses. It kind of makes more sense now 👀

YES!!! 100% this. I feel like some shippers (in general, not just yoonminers) are so intent on proving that certain pairs live together…even though the information we have suggests they each live alone.

We saw Jimin’s apartment during his Sept live and in the doc, and it sure looks like he lives alone in a rather sparsely decorated apartment. Meanwhile, we haven’t seen much of Yoongi’s apartment at all.

In addition to the cultural norm you mentioned, I also think we have to look at this as an issue of privacy/safety. If they lived together full-time, it would be very hard to hide that. It’s one thing to hide (or explain away) late-night visits, but coming and going on a daily basis, sharing the same permanent address, using the on-site amenities like the pool/gym/parking/etc? Too many people would be aware of that. (In my opinion)

I will say, I found it really cute that two of the spaces we saw in Jimin’s apartment—the gaming room with two chairs and the small home gym with boxing equipment—line up with activities we know Jimin and Yoongi do together. (Jimin mentioned working out with Yoongi during Face promos* and of course their gaming has been discussed a few times). Anyway, it’s just funny that we don’t know much about their homes but what we do know adds up with what they’ve told us.
