Day Two
Dear people of the future and aliens in space, its officially two days after the election and America is heartbroken, we’ll most of us are. The totals from the polls came in and faith in America is not totally shaken as Hillary won the popular vote, proving that at least 200,000 more people in this country don’t live on rural farms. Its been an emotional few days as bigots took Trumps victory not as representation for the silent majority, but as a license to be pricks to their neighbors.
Women, minorities, African Americans, Muslims are all being attacked and ridiculed across the nation. Things are so bad that even millennials who forgot what they where taught in Sunday School are praying. The liberals are protesting in the streets, begging our government to do something and for the electoral college to do its damn job and prevent an unqualified, over-baked sweet potato from becoming the leader of the free world.
As most of my fellow Americans, my Facebook feed is still a mess. Families arguing, tearful coming-outs as children, nieces, grandsons beg their family to protect them from what is now harsh reality.
In case you forgot, with the Trump campaign being nothing but a garbage dump of hateful potential policies I can see how you would, but Trumps VP Mr. Mike Pence believes in conversion therapy as being a thing that should happen. He also believes that an establishment should have the right to turn away gay people if they so please. As a side note, please tell me how that’s any different then putting a Latino/a through therapy to change ethnicities? Or turning away a POC from your business because of their skin color? Last time I checked, we did that America and it was super shitty and we are still dealing with the consequences from that. So in case you forgot, Mike Pence is the biggest duchbag to ever duchbag. Honestly I am actually impressed that Trump managed to find someone who is even more of an asshole than himself. Slow clap for our future president ladies and gentleman.
The racist, and exclusionary rhetoric from his campaign is already coming back to haunt him (or well us the people, Trump is swaggin it up getting to spend the afternoon with the Obamas, yup, looks like Obama is giving Trump a crash course in middle school civics) . We are two days in and the ‘oppressed white Trump supporters’ are already having a field day. Vandalism, harassment, assault; from all age groups people. Children as young as five began telling their class mates to be ready that they we’re about to get deported, middle schoolers began chanting ‘build the wall’ while their Lantinx peers sat there and cried. What is happening around us? We are teaching our children that hate, and racism, and xenophobia is okay. Like, I knew kids where dicks before from experience, but god damn people.
In all fairness, I have seen videos and articiles of Trump supporters being attacked by Hillary supporters. I do agree that its wrong and people should just generally behave better. Attacking others is never excusable and should not be tolerated, but I do think Trumpers need to take a second to put things into perspective. The amount of violence directed toward marginalized groups now has gone up astronomically in the past two days while a VERY small minority of white Trump supports have been attacked. I do agree that this is a threat to our great democracy, but its all about perspective. 1 Trump supporter attacked to 15 minority attacks? You’re really going to be more worried about the supporter attacks? SMALL CHILDREN ARE TELLING THEIR CLASSMATES THAT THEY ARE GOING TO BE DEPORTED.
I’m so tired of people complaining about the protests by calling us whinny millennials. Or to stop saying that ‘Trump isn’t my president’ .Do you actually realize how much a hypocracy this is? Remember when THEY where pissed 8 years ago just because a black man was elected president? Or when they spent  8 years saying that Obama was not THEIR president?  Who by the way has benefited the middle class immensely . So please Deborah and Matthew, take a seat.
Story time.
So for everyone who claims that they where not pissed when Obama was elected on the grounds that he was black, I believe maybe 5 of you. I grew up in a small rural, Florida country town. I went to private Christian/ Catholic school my entire life. I was in the sixth grade when Obama was elected and like most schools in the country, we held our own elections to teach kids about how government works. Mind you, there where only 3 minorities in my entire grade. Myself, a Puerto Rican girl and Black girl. Our grade voted almost unanimously for McCain to win the presidency except for two votes. Kids for months walked around with NObama stickers on their notebooks, or said that a this was a white mans government. I shit you not.  Only now, eight years later, sitting in my college dorm common room, with my peers watching the results of this election, do I finally look back and realize how terrified that one black girl must have been. Now mind you, this isn’t me asking for sympathy, I look white. And thats also not to say that I think I’m better than my fellow Lantinx peers, its just to say that I have never encountered racism at the level that my family or friends with darker skin have. Of course I’ve encountered the usual rhetoric of ‘oh you must be Mexican right?’ of being looked at strange for speaking Spanish with my mom in the grocery store or while on the phone walking across campus. I have been told to tone down my “Latinness” or to speak ‘god-damn-English’. And guess what guys, its not getting better for any of us. Its getting worse. Donald Trump and his campaign has attacked every community I represent. I am a bisexual granddaughter of 4 Cuban immigrants and the great granddaughter of Syrian and Lebanese immigrants. I know that I stand a pretty good chance of not facing any real oppression in the next four years. But I cry for my family, for my friends, for my communities and you should cry for yours too.
I know this post took a turn, its supposed to be humor and satire,  but this blog is supposed to be whats on my mind as well. And to be honest as I sit here at 2 a.m waiting for my laundry to be done, this is whats on my mine.I have seen and spoken with too many people who are terrified, who are heartbroken, who already feel like outsiders in their own home these past few days to not care. I’m not saying that everyone who voted for Trump are terrible racist homophobes, who are against other religions and ways of life. I’m not. I can’t be. Too many people that I love and respect and care about decided to overlook the hate that Trump preaches, to vote toward a better economy or whatever the hell it is they saw in him. Disappointed in them? Maybe a little hurt by it?  Of course I’m hurt by the fact that my own father voted in favor of a man who wants to make sure people similar to me or my family don’t have a future in this country. But do I resent the man? No. I think he did what he thought was best. Do I wish Trump supporters where better educated? Of course I do, or at least I sincerely hope they where not educated enough. They may not have voted for misogamy and hatred but with Trump you get both what you voted for and what you may or may not dislike.
So going forward. Love each other. Don’t let Trump dictate your life, but be careful and take care of each other.  Don’t wait for the President to do it for you, make America Great Again from the people not the cheeto.
In other news, there is a slim chance the state of our union may yet be saved. Ya heard of that old ratchet ass thing called the electoral college? We as Americans may love to hate it, but in December when they cast their votes, some may choose to join the rebel alliance and vote rouge. Thats right, if 20 of the electors decide to vote against their state vote, Hillary may actually have a shot. Only about 29 states have rules about that sort of thing, but even if they do vote against their state, its like a relatively small fine, and with as much as Hillary want’s to run this bitch I’m sure she wouldn’t mind paying them all. Or we can start a go fund me or something because hell yea I’d chip in money for like Steve who decided to be a real hero and elect a competent politician to the highest office in the land instead of a stale cheese fry.   Of course... that is... until the senate totally shuts it down, because ya know, democracy? Even though we don’t live in a democracy?
And with that positive note, It is I, your friendly neighborhood jaded Millennial, signing off.

Greetings
Alright, so I’ve thought about starting this blog a while back, but after last nights election, holy shit. It is time. We’ve elected the fourth horseman of the apocalypse as president and our union is dissolving as we speak, so I figured I might as well start a blog that documented my opinions on the hellscape we are about to find ourselves living in. How are you guys?
Good? Surviving? I hope so.
Here we are, day after election night and everyone is loosing their shit. Liberals are rioting in the streets, Trump supporters now proudly wearing their stupid “make america great again” hats and really no one is happy. The conservatives are pissed that the liberals are pissed and the liberals are pissed because their most basic human rights are about to be  taken away, and generally they’re against that sort of thing.
The republicans are surprised that everyone is pissed?
Wow, shocker, most of the country is against terrible atrosities like conversion therapy, rape, deportation, legal POW torture and a giant ass cheeto in the white house. Oh, I’m sorry, President Elect Giant Ass Cheeto.
Thats right america, let that sink in. You did this. This election was historic, we had the first woman to hold the nomination for a major political party, and we voted in the first president who has never held a single elected or government job in his life. Thats right, Trump couldn’t even get elected treasurer of a high school glee  club because they saw how shitty he was with money. Just because you have a lot of it doesn’t mean you know how to spend it.
To be completely honest there are not just several things I don’t agree with Mr. Trump on, the only thing I agree with him on is that America is a mess. And even then thats mostly his fault. Because of Trump being elected, people are too afraid to come out to friends and family for fear of the rise of hate crimes. Instead its now your family and friends who are coming out as open racists. Lets start the #ThanksTrump .
And while everything is shitty, and it seems like we are living in a modified version of the purge, in which it’s every day if your not a cis white male. Or that it also seems like we’re living in a version of the hunger games where we’re all begging to be chosen as tribute so we don’t have to ride this out. Remember to love each other. And while I’m mostly preaching to those who voted for Trump and are probably just about now realizing how much of a dick they where when voting now that their coworkers and friends are too scared to walk outside. Or their sister called them telling them they where too scared to go to work. Just don’t be jerks guys. Respect the people who are hurting and don’t you dare invalidate their suffering, they have a right to feel like the country has just fucked them up the ass, because it has.
So with that America I decide to stop procrastinating studying and thus begins this blog. I hope to try and update this mildly regularly as a way to relieve stress as I casually resemble the meme with the dog with the house burning down around him. This is fine. Your friendly reminder if you’re looking to defect, I hear Ireland is hiring.
Good luck America, We’re gonna need it.
