When an Atmoran or Nord mourned a sibling, they'd wear a bear pelt, often from a black bear, to show their loss.
The bear was the totem animal of Tsun, the nordic god of trials and adversity. We see him in Sovngarde guarding the Whalebone bridge. He died defending Shor from other gods, this was remembered as one of their "Dead Gods" like Shor. The sibling connection is his the fact that he and his brother Stuhn, the god of ransom fraternity and justice, were shield-thanes to Shor. To mourn his brother's death he adorned parts of the bear into his armor. Making the animal a symbol of mourning a sibling and or a sign of true strength.

Wearing a blackened bear cloak symbolized the mourning of a sibling and the strength to carry what was left behind. The surviving sibling would also be one of the few allowed to light the pyre for the deceased. Their world began with each other and one would end with it.

Back at it again with Snow Elf Food
Before the Atmorans dropped into modern day Skyrim, known then as Mereth, The Snow Elves had another ancient enemy at their back door.
The Ayleids got closer and closer to their borders, seeing the vast land rich with potential. The Snelves were obviously pissed that they'd be bold enough to try and build settlements under their noses. The Arch Curates of the chantries sent out their armies, their seers advising them to not hesitate.
They destroyed anything of the Ayleids that they came across and weren't merciful once they saw the gruesome displays they had their slaves participate in. While they had little contact with humans, The Snow Elves did feel mercy towards the ones under the torture. Most were given a quick and painless death, the bodies left together in the snow. Freed from their place of torment. It was all the more reason to get the nasties out of their land.
One particular artifact caught their eyes however. A beacon of a fallen Magni-Gi and plans for a temple in her honor. The Crowned Prince cast it off the throat of the world, letting the light of Magnus decide where his disowned daughter's relic reside.
Little remains of the conflict, but Meridias beacon was found by her worshippers in the 1st Era, forever uncertain how it got to Skyrim..

The struggle of being an Elder Scrolls Fan with Dyslexia is being adamant on how you spell a certain term, maybe make a few posts about it, then you turn around and see you have been spelling it wrong for MONTHS MAYBE YEARS
Gonna have to give myself a goddamn Elder Scrolls themed spelling test because I can no longer trust my judgement.
Terms I've fucked up are Cyrodiil, Tsaesci, Molag Bal, Elsweyr.. probably more but those are off the top of my head.

Wanted to practice drawing eyes, so I drew up some Elf and Beast race eyes! It's not very lore-friendly, but I do think it's fun to give them different eyes. It adds to their mystical nature, and it's a bit more interesting than just slapping human eyes on them, imo.

WIP Wednesday!!!
Actually on Wednesday this time! This was supposed to be posted on Halloween but I only managed the sketch by then. This time depicting:
Hermaeus Mora, the Prince of Memories
Where [Saya] expected to see a floating eye, she saw instead a tall individual in black robes, with flowing black hair and skin the color of pencil lead. Their features were neither male nor female, ears pointed in elven manner yet somehow unalike, as though it didn’t acknowledge the difference to begin with.
Tumblr media
More details under cut :)
Hermaeus Mora is one of those Princes who famously does not have a humanoid avatar, so designing him was a fun little exercise. I like to think that, as the god of knowledge, he is not actually capable of synthesizing new shapes of his own, but rather assumes the forms of people or entities that already exist (or existed) in the memories of others, including fictional ones if need be.
This particular form is based on the memories of Oghma - the wife that Xarxes created for himself out of his favorite secrets and moments in history. Given that this knowledge originally was taught to him by Mora himself, this is the closest that he has to a "true form". In this form, Hermaeus Mora speaks with multiple voices - a male and female one, with a dissonant chorus of whispers echoing his every word in different languages.
As a bonus - some WIP shots:

Burial rituals headcanons
Nords obviously held their funerals with burning pyres but they tend to pass down the dead loved ones trusted weapon through the family. Usually the spouse holds the weapon until their children are ready to wield it. After death, the weapon is usually engraved with a personal quote.
Argonians who still hold the hist in high regard, often spread the ashes of their dead loved one in water ways like rivers, streams etc. Their belief is that all water is connected, so their loved one will find their way back to the hist and be reincarnated.
Khajiit when on the road will make custom urns for their fallen loved ones, some even wear small urns to take pieces of them with them. The passed's jewelry is often worn by their surviving family or caravan members as a way to remember them.
Bosmer preserve bones and make sentimental beaded necklaces out of their loved one's bones. The skull was respectfully kept in tact and often sat in an area the family gathered in. It was a way for the deceased to still watch over them.
Vampires, while being a wide variety in themselves, have a similar ritual noticed among the scattered clans of Tamriel. If the clan members can recover their body, the fallen is cremated and scattered before sunrise, so they can see the sun shortly before their soul would be sent to Oblivion.
Much has been lost on the Dwemer but interesting finds have been found in ruins across the land. Rooms that were built to resemble tombs had coffins against the walls. Inside were masks assumed to be worn by the corpse of a dead Dwemer. Each found seems to be personalized as no two have been the exact same. Sadly, mostly just ash have been found in the coffins, the whereabouts of the corpses is yet to be determined. We can guess that it was a similar process Nords went under when becoming draugr, minus being undead tomb caretakers.
The underground Falmer have been noted to have mourning rituals under careful study. The corpse is covered in a putrid oil that wards off hungry charus from digging up the grave and eating it. Then, they work on a grave marker shortly before burial. Instead of their loud shrieks and clicks, those in attendance were noted to make low rumbling and chittering noises.

Khajiit misc headcanons
When a caravan member dies, they are cremated and carried in a decorated urn or custom made jewelry urns for their loved ones to carry a piece of them with them.
Khajiits make excellent hair stylists since they have so much hair. They're especially good at crafting oils for ones scalp. To trust a Khajiit with your hair means to them you trust their skills and it can feel like an honor. It isn't uncommon for one stylist to be in a caravan since it's necessity to avoid fur matting during travel.
When young cubs shed their baby teeth, their parents collect the teeth in a small container or locket. To bless their children with the happiness they felt as a child through the teeth.
Sphinx Khajiits wear headdresses to cover their sensitive skin and will have lotions on hand to keep themselves moisturized. They might sell it if they're feel generous but won't share their recipes with just anyone.
When tensions were really high towards the Khajiit race, some Khajiit prisoners were subjected to a grueling torture method to ensure they were "disarmed". Declawing faded out around the time Elsweyr became allies with the Aldmeri Dominion. Their guidebooks state that declawing is not a method to use so casually during an interrogation and to avoid it if they can.
The bigger the Khajiit, the deeper their purs are. Alfiqs obviously have the highest pitch purs. Even the more elven looking khajiit can purr but they seldomly do it in public. Its usually reserved for ones they are affectionate with.

Some Anti-AI banners i made, anyone is free to use them, no credit necessary. Light mode and Dark mode versions.
Art and writing and people’s rights need to be protected, and AI has been used already to steal, plagiarize, and be used to threaten people using deepfakes.
As an artist and a writer, it’s an insult to my craft to see AI “works” along side mine.
Like i said, anyone is welcome to save/put these banners on their blog, or on posts, please just reblog this if you do.

Men are so incapable of understanding Dibella lol it's always just 'hehe horny sex goddess' to them when it literally says IN THE LORE how wide her sphere is because it's all about the things that make being alive on Nirn beautiful and pleasurable, and sex is ONE of those things, but it's not the be all and end all, but idk I guess dudes love thinking with their dicks (Not All™️ before anyone throws a conniption fit). I'd imagine this is probably a problem they have within the lore too. Dudes showing up at temples looking for a good time and instead the priestesses are just like 'are you here for the workshop on intuitive nature painting' or whatever lmao
