one thing I miss from non tumblr social media, even tiny forums, are spoiler embargos. Same day spoilers are vile.
I'd have to not interact with the media at all and block the tags if I want to self-curate to the point where I wouldn't be seeing content about the ongoing thing for weeks. On other platforms people just have the self control I guess?
Fully embracing referring to Israeli and American soldiers as terrorists, because that’s what they are! Arab people have had to deal with you calling them terrorists for more than a decade now, when it’s precisely these countries that have been killing our people and either being glorified for it or it being ignored entirely because it’s easier to turn the other cheek than to truly care. But they are and have always been terrorists.
so I, a grown man, recently touched lego again (one of those display sets bc I want it on my shelf), and realized I think that stuff activates the same brain regions I use when I 3D model?? It's weird, but in a good way.
If you ever tagged me to do one of those tag game thingies and I never did it:
1) Thank you, seriously. Those are fun and being included shows that my followers care enough to want to learn more about me.
2) Very sorry about that, it’s extremely likely that I said to myself “Cool! But I’m busy at the moment, I’ll have to do this later today or tomorrow” before proceeding to just straight-up forget, now it’s too far back in my notifications and/or your blog to find again.
When I was a kid my family pretended to get raptured so I would think I was left behind on earth while they all went to heaven.
I was like 8 years old and my sister and mom had gotten really into the Left Behind novels (bible fan fic about the rapture). In the books when the rapture happened the clothes that people were wearing when they got raptured were left behind in neatly folded piles.
One day when I was getting home from school my family decided that they would leave piles of neatly folded clothes around the house, and then hide in the basement.
The intended effect was that I would get home and see the clothes then, think that my family had been raptured and that I wasn’t good enough to get into heaven… or something?
The problem was that I had never read these books, and didn’t really think about the rapture very often. There was no reason that I would see some laundry on the floor and think “The rapture happened and I’ve been abandoned by God! I’ll never see my family again!! Oh nooo!!!!”
I just sat down and watched cartoons and eventually my family got bored and revealed that they were all hiding in the basement.
It’s a good thing I didn’t understand the joke, otherwise that shit would have been traumatic.
