I've drawn Nagito many times, but today I noticed for the first time that his coat has a chest pocket on the left side...... Why did I miss it? I looked at the reference so seriously and so many times, but how is that possible??? (Yeah, I knew that would happen with characters I thought I knew well...)

最近askに答えてるだけになってますけど、ちゃんと狛枝の誕生日に向けて色々描いてますよ😌(主に瓦礫描いてばっかりな気もするけど)
I've only been answering the ASKs lately, but I've been drawing some stuff for Nagito's birthday. Although I feel like I've been drawing a lot of rubble the last few days. lol

What do you, Asaka-chan - as a Japanese national - know about Tokyu Hands? I myself have a head-canon that Iruma-san gets a buzz from huffing sample jars of paint stolen from there.
What a novel head-canon XD
I love Tokyu Hands, and I think some Ultimates would enjoy shopping there. While the size of Tokyu Hands varies from store to store, since Hope's Peak Academy is located in the heart of a large city, its students would likely frequent the larger stores. In particular, there are large Tokyu Hands stores in Shinjuku and Shibuya, and I can easily see them going there to buy what they need for a school festival or something.
The funny thing about your headcanon is that you expect Iruma to not shop properly and steal samples. XD Indeed, Tokyu Hands is a fun store with a good selection, but it's not particularly budget-friendly. If anything, it has an upscale image due to its selection of the latest products. I believe Iruma is not poor, but well, I think she might do something like that.
I think Rantaro would like Tokyu Hands because they have a very large selection of travel goods. And he has the money to buy as much as he wants. 😄 So he can shop there every time he comes back to Japan.
Angie may also like Tokyu Hands because they sell a lot of art supplies, but art supplies are sometimes cheaper at smaller independent stores, and other specialty art supply stores may have a better selection of large materials (like large canvases).
Toko might hate it. They have a good selection of stationery, but it is stylish and brightly lit, and she would probably prefer a dark, small stationery store.
Oh, maybe Mahiru shops there often to buy albums and photo frames. And Himiko might also go there to get props for magic tricks. Wow, even though I never imagined such a situation, I can imagine a lot of different characters shopping there.
I may have strayed from the subject of your question, but I hope I've given you a general idea of what kind of place it is.

I've just drawn this far and I've come to the realisation: "Why am I drawing a normal arm?" Even though I was so excited to be able to draw his prosthetic hand for the first time in a while... Anyway, I'm going to erase that and redraw it…

Reading this reminded me that I have a headcanon that Nagito is self-deprecating because he did not receive proper love from his parents.
I guess his talent actualized from an early age, so he would have been badly injured, sick, or in some kind of trouble as a counter for some lucky outcome. (I'm sure it's not stated how quickly his dog died, but I'm guessing it was pretty quick due to his luck mechanism). As a result, his parents, out of concern for their son, did not like him to do anything and told him "You don't need to do anything" or something like that. This ultimately came across to him as if he was not expected to do anything and caused him to have low self-esteem.
Some might interpret Nagito's statement that his parents never once complimented him on his appearance as indicating that his parents were more indifferent to their son, but he himself has a rather calm disposition and seems to have grown up without any inconvenience, so in my opinion it's not that they didn't love him. I just think that because of their son's various troubles, they may not have had the opportunity to properly convey their love to him. (Or his parents are very busy people and simply didn't have the opportunity to interact with him.)
I also have a headcanon that Nagito believes that his parents prevented him from being aware of the excellence of his talent. He thought that because his parents were talentless people, they couldn't appreciate the wonderfulness of his talent, and that made him hate talentless people.
Well, I know this is a leap of logic, but anyway, it's just that I remembered having such thoughts...
Hello!
Do you think komaeda's self-depreciation and self-loathing just stems from the hierarchy that he has created in his mind or are there any other factors involved? (e.g. his luck cycle)
Hello there! That's interesting question, I'll answer it as best I can! This isn't blatantly said but It's sort of implied or my interpretation! :)
The hierarchy he's created in his head is definitely influenced by hope's peak's beliefs and that is commonly accepted as fact in their world! Nagito is just a really extreme result of it.
Because the hierarchy is specifically influenced by hope's peak I believe that when he was younger, when his luck cycle started, he was really conflicted and started blaming himself for the things that happened.
I think his self esteem eventually became worse because of his luck, blaming himself for it hurting others. Then his general beliefs with hopes peak made him have to come to terms with the fact he's "useless" and when he started taking the hierarchy as fact and using hope as a coping mechanism it got worse. I believe gradually with time he started seeing himself more negatively and at a very young age due to his luck, started seriously believing in the world view from hope's peak that the talentless are worthless, and he already believed his talent is worthless so he thinks he's not worth anything and his self esteem got to the worst it can get. When you are so negative about yourself it's hard to see anything positive, and for Nagito it just got worse and worse really quickly at a young age. All irreversible damage from everything out of his control.
Hopefully that made sense, Thank you for your ask <3

Don’t read too much into it, Asaka-chan: In reference to Kodaka, I was trying to be humorous - for his word alone decides which Ultimates live, and which Ultimates die…
…Until he split for TooKyo Games, or something.
Ah, I see. So you are afraid that if you displease him, your favorite Ultimate might be killed. 😄
I'm relieved that you were trying to be humorous! My concern was simply whether it was rude to write Kodaka in my reply when you wrote Kodaka-sama. I am relieved to hear that it was not a big problem.
In my opinion, he tends to kill the more characters that everyone wishes would not die, though :)

Hiii! Love your blog, thank you so much for the Rain Code fan meeting reports! I have a question: why do the characters call Gonta by his first name in the Japanese version of V3? They do it with Angie because she's foreign (I think) but why Gonta?
Hi! thanks for your kind message! I am glad you enjoyed the fan meeting reports! 😄
Yes, for some reason, most people call Gonta just Gonta! I don't think there's a clear reason for that (I checked the official art book to be sure, but it didn't mention it), but I think it's probably because they think it would be easier to understand for him or more comfortable for him since Gonta himself calls himself Gonta. So I guess it was done out of kindness. However, I just checked and found that Kirumi, Maki, Ryoma, and Korekiyo sometimes call him Gokuhara(-kun), so it seems that not everyone calls him Gonta. (I also checked the dialogs in UTDP and found that Ultimate Imposter called him Gokuhara.)
Also, I feel that Shuichi and Kaede's attitude toward Gonta is like dealing with little children, and in general, when dealing with children, you usually call them by their first names, so maybe there is some nuance to it.
Thanks for asking! <3

“Koko Head” is the headland that defines the eastern side of Maunalua Bay along the southeastern side of the Island of Oahu, Hawaii, oddly enough. Maybe, Kodaka-sama had a vacation and thought it useful for a character name.
Or, Kanai Ward has rather unique naming conventions. Who knows?
OMG, I didn't know that! XD
By the way, I posted the other day that I found a brochure of Danganronpa THE STAGE, which is an official play that took place about ten years ago, and actually Kodaka mentioned in the brochure that the idea for Danganronpa suddenly came to him while he was smoking a cigarette alone on his balcony. And as I mentioned in the report I posted the other day, during the RAIN CODE fan meeting, he said that one of the key tricks in the game came to him while he was smoking a cigarette in Taiwan. Following this rule, he probably came up with the surname "Kokohead" while smoking in Hawaii! XD
Case solved. lol
(Should I ask you why you call him Kodaka-sama? I personally like it because it's a bit funny, but I wasn't sure if you called him that for fun or seriously, so I didn't mention it before. Or maybe he told his fans to call him that before?)
Anyway, thanks for asking!

Are RAIN CODE surnames sound funny/weird for Japanese fans as well? Especially Kokohead, I've seen many streamers laughing at his surname whenever he says it in English.
Yes! Or rather, Kokohead doesn't sound weird to English speakers? If so, I'd be surprised! XD
I thought the surname "Kokohead" was obviously lame (Yuma fans, please don't be offended! I really like him, too). But that is why, when I found out who Yuma really was, I was convinced that this was why he had such a surname. So I think it is intentional.
My guess as to why the name Kokohead sounds lame to Japanese people is that such words as "XXX head" are often used as insults among young people. The first thing that came to mind when I heard the name Kokohead was the insulting phrase "kinoko head". "kinoko" means "mashroom," and the phrase is used to make fun of people who have their hair like a mashroom cap. A similar form of insult can be written as "[something that resembles the person's hair or head shape]" + "head". Just like when Shinigami calls Yakou "Fuzz head", it sounds like she is making fun of him. I thought this nuance would be understood by those playing the English version, but no? :)
I think this is an interesting topic and would love to hear the impressions of anyone who reads this!
Another surname that I think is weird is probably Yakou's, because the sound of "Furio" is similar to "furyou", the Japanese word for punk kid. The novel that came with the pre-order bonus, which describes how Yakou became a detective, doesn't seem to indicate that he's a serious or honorable person, so I wonder if that's why he was named Furio from "furyou". (And the fact that he's always smoking is a bit pank kid-ish, too.)
I think these are the only surnames that only sound weird to a Japanese person. The rest are probably also weird surnames for English speakers, like Yomi Hellsmile or Dominic Fulltank.
Come to think of it, I noticed that the Miraheze wiki, which I often refer to doesn't mention anything about Seth's surname; I think his surname is obviously based on Clock Tower. XD But I see now that it is spelled differently in English. In Japanese, it is spelled exactly the same as the character in Clock Tower.
It would be a very long story if I talked about the surnames of all the characters! I'll stop here for now. Thanks for asking!

えっ、今日になって初めて英語版だとSDR2じゃなくてDR2(Superが消えてる)、NDRV3じゃなくてDRV3(Newが消えてる)が正しいということに気づいた😂
これ日本語版のみなのか!!!(衝撃)
──────────
Huh??? Today I realized that in the English versions, DR2 is correct, not SDR2, and DRV3 is correct, not NDRV3!
Oh my gosh, I didn't know these titles are only correct in the Japanese versions! 😂
When you read my posts, you might have thought "What's the S?" or "What's the N?". This is because "Super Danganronpa 2" and "New Danganronpa V3" are the correct titles in the Japanese versions!
FYI, Japanese fans call them “スーダン(SuuDan)” and “ニューダン(NyuuDan)” for short.

My headcanon in the post-DR3 world
I'm preparing a short manga for Nagito's birthday, but I thought it might not make sense without my headcanon explanation, so I put it together here.
*I set this post to reblog prohibit because this is basically an explanation of my manga.
*This post is already a bit long, but I actually have a lot more headcanons, so maybe I'll add some of them from time to time.
⚠️Contains Spoilers!
■ The situation of Hinata and Class 77-B after the DR3 Hope Arc:
Hinata and Class 77-B (from now on, I will be writing Hinata's team) are set up as a separate organization from the Future Foundation, traveling around the world by ship to eliminate the remnants of despair and restore the world. (This means everyone did not return to Jabberwock Island, but continued their journey directly on the ship they used to leave Jabberwock Island).
The reason they did not return to Jabberwock Island is because it is land owned by the Future Foundation. Since the killing spree at the Future Foundation was allegedly masterminded by Hinata's team, they cannot return there.
However, the world is not an environment in which they can live without the support of the Future Foundation, so they are actually connected to members like Naegi and others who know the truth.
Naegi and his team have the critical project of rebuilding Hope's Peak Academy, so they basically stay in Japan most of the time and cannot immediately address problems that occur outside of Japan. Therefore, Hinata's team mainly deal with problems outside of Japan. (Basically, they communicate with each other through telecommunications using a specially prepared line.)
Basically, Hajime Hinata's presence is kept secret (not strictly, but the people around him realize that it would be better if he did not appear in public as much as possible), so once Hinata's team have temporarily dealt with the problem, they will leave the area and the Future Foundation will take care of the follow-up. (The Future Foundation employees who do not know the truth simply perceive that another unit of their organization took care of the problem before them. They do not know that it was Hinata's team who took care of it.)
✼••┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈••✼
■ Additional information about post-3 Hajime Hinata:
He made two promises to everyone on his team.
Not using Izuru Kamukura's talents against teammates. Because he could control the will of his teammates if he wanted to, so he promises not to use Kamukura's talents against his teammates except in emergency situations, whether good or bad.
Never be alone. (Always be with someone.) He can use Kamukura's talents, but between after SDR2 and the 3rd Hope Arc, he used his talents so much that he once became "void" as a result of overusing his talents. The state called “void" is also one of my head canons. This occurs as a reaction to overworking his brain. Once this happens, all of his senses will be shut down for a while, and he won't be able to move at all. Recovery time varies from case to case, but usually ranges from 3 to 7 days. The heart and other minimal organs will still work, but he will not be able to eat or do anything else, so he will die if he has no way to eat and excrete. To prevent him from getting into this very dangerous situation, he cannot use his talents excessively, and people around him do not allow it, and this rule was put in place to deal with him in case he becomes void. To enforce this rule, Komaeda accompanies Hinata as a watcher; when Hinata is in his room, the Observer AI (Chiaki Nanami) watches Hinata.
✼••┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈••✼
■ Post-3 Nagito Komaeda:
He is supposed to be Hajime's watcher, so his role is basically to be at Hajime's side. The reason he was put in the role of watching over Hinata was because Hinata's teammates thought he would have a high chance of survival even in a critical situation thanks to his talent. Another reason is the problem of not being able to deal with anyone but Hinata.
The only thing he has to do is to make sure that Hinata is not left alone, so he may not be with Hinata if someone else accompanies him.
✼••┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈••✼
■ Observer AI (Chiaki Nanami) :
After Hajime awoke from the NWP, he used one of Kamukura's talents, the Ultimate Programmer talent, to restore the NWP's Observer AI, because as a result of using Kamukura's talents to predict the future, he found that he alone would not be able to do enough to take care of his returning friends. The restored Observer AI provided mental care for those who returned. After everyone's mental health was restored to some degree, she remained aboard the ship as one of the companions. (One of her roles is to monitor Hinata during bedtime.)
✼••┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈••✼
■ Izuru Kamukura:
In my headcanon, his ego exists as a separate entity from Hajime Hinata even in post-3, but it basically does not appear on the surface. He may appear on the surface when needed, but almost never, as it would cause Hinata's brain to become overloaded.
Hinata can talk to him. Technically speaking, it can only predict what Kamukura is likely to say using Kamukura's talents. However, the accuracy of the predictions is so high that the results are equivalent to having a conversation with Kamukura. Due to this fact, Hinata will get tired if he talks to Kamukura a lot.

First of all, thanks so much for your detailed answers! I'm glad you took the time out of your busy schedule to respond.
As for his eye color, I mentioned in my ask that his eyes are clearly blue at times, but yes, they are also greenish. In fact, I think there are times when they are clearly greenish, even if you just look at Rui Komatsuzaki's art, for example, below is one of the official art on the cover of the official art book:
Tumblr media
So often, on merchandise and such, this eye color is the standard. Like this and this.
I agree with you that gray is really the right color. This is just my guess, but Komatsuzaki tends to paint with low saturation, so he increases the saturation as a final touch, and I think Nagito's eyes would be too distinctly blue or green. But just as a matter of taste, I was a little curious what color you prefer for Nagito's eyes.
Incidentally, what I think is the right color for Nagito is something like this:
Tumblr media
(This is part of a drawing I did for Hajime's birthday that I posted earlier. I was wondering if there were others that would be better, but not as many as I thought because I have a tendency to draw him with a closed eye expression...)
------------
Also, thanks for mentioning his hair color! That's right. Sometimes it's clearly red and sometimes it's not. It is interesting to point out that it is even purple! XD (Come to think of it, the hair color of the Nagito figure designed by Kei Mochizuki was also purple.)
I also feel that it varies from art to art whether his bangs are also red or just the back of his hair is red. The reference sheet says that his hair gets whiter as it goes to the top of his head, so the hair on the top of his head is definitely white, but I think the color of the tips of the bangs is inconsistent. Personally, I interpret his bangs as white and only the back of his hair as red, as shown in this image:
I know a lot of people think Nagito's showing Junko's arm art looks bad but I honestly like it.
Huh? Do many people not like it? If so, it's very surprising. I like it a lot, just like you! While he is acting out of the ordinary by transplanting Junko's arm, I like the fact that his facial expression is like that of a child who is excited about something.
I also like the art of Nagito standing in front of the flame because it uses the design of his hair. Because in the reference sheet, his hair is described as unstable, like a flickering flame.
------------
By the way, I've seen you mention the Danganronpa 2 spin off mangas many times, but this post made me decide to buy them! The Nagito in this manga has the physique of a "180cm" tall man. (This is a side note, but I just learned that his height setting is lowered in the English version! XD) I will read this manga and use it as a reference because I always have the problem that I tend to draw Nagito too young (almost like a ten year old kid).
------------
While I'm at it I also want to highlight his reference sheet, it's clearly consistent because that's the job of a reference and I think his expression is pretty cute here.
THIS!!!! is how I always feel too! Nagito's face on the reference sheet is so cute. I've seen it so many times to reference it, but no matter how many times I see it, I can't help but be surprised at how cute he is.
In fact, Komatsuzaki's drawing style has changed a lot since his early days, and perhaps the most recent drawing of Nagito he did was the bonus art for the collector's edition of Danganronpa Decadence, in which he looks much more mature.
Tumblr media
(I actually didn't know about this art until recently. When I first saw it, I was confused by how insanely cool he was and how short his hair was. lol)
Speaking of reference sheets, I like how thin Nagito's thighs look compared to Hajime's ones. There is no big difference in the silhouette, but Hajime's pants have more horizontal lines where the fat seems to be pushing out the cloth, while Nagito's have fewer horizontal lines, so I think his legs are thinner. I know a lot has been said about the thickness of the chest, but I thought few people mentioned the thinness of the thighs, so I wrote about it. (Sorry for my crazy point of view...)
I was just rambling on about what I remembered from your response rather than replying to you, I hope you can tell that I found your answer very interesting.
To conclude, I would like to talk about my favorite art of Nagito. If I were asked the question, this would be the first thing I would mention:
Tumblr media
(This is a screenshot taken from the Ultimate Gallery of the Switch version of SDR2.)
I really think this art is a good and pretty representation of his face. I like that this art clearly shows how he looks with his coat off and how thin his body is. (This does not mean that I like thin-bodied characters. I just think that it is part of the design of the character of Nagito Komaeda.) I also like the chain on his pants, so I like that it's drawn as well.
Sorry to write at almost as long as or longer than you. Thanks so much for your answer!
Hi Zen! This might be another difficult question for you to answer, but I'd like to ask: Which official artwork of Nagito do you like the most?
Even in the official art, he looks different sometimes, doesn't he? I am still confused as to what color his eyes are. (In a lot of fanfic they are described as gray, but in some art they are clearly blue).
I would like to know which of the official artwork, whether in games, anime or manga, is your favorite.
Whoa!! that Is a difficult question! I'll try to answer it though haha!
I have a lot of them I like but choosing one is pretty difficult... so I'll just start this answer off with a discussion on the inconsistencies statement! I believe Nagito's eyes are definitely gray, at some points it maybe hard to tell but they're definitely gray! There are a few anime moments where his eyes feel green, some promotional material straight up changes it to green, and a small amount spin off art may change it to something that can be interpreted as blue, but for the most part they are absolutely gray.
I think the only actual very small change he undergoes is his color tips? His hair always has a gradient but the colors used for it are a little inconsistent sometimes. In Danganronpa 3 they're red and occasionally purple so it's a little weird haha! Sometimes he's not drawn with his gradient at all, a slight gradient with the same color, a red gradient, or a purple gradient so it's pretty confusing. His gradient also changes with how prominent it is depending on the art if there even is one. He's drawn most often with red subtle tips though so I think that was the intention. You could probably chalk it up to lighting if you wanted Lol.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While I do love a lot of his sprites I think some of them are pretty restrictive and lack all of the emotions we know he's able to show because he does in other appearances. This is why I really like when the Mangas allow him to be very expressive beyond what his sprites can convey! I think his sprites can really excel with some expressions but falls flat with others.
Rambles about his sprites in Dr2 and his slight inconsistencies aside, a lot of his art is great! (I'm very biased) but I do have some strong opinions, positively and negatively, on quite a few of them. The main thing is that I don't know if I actually have a favorite??? It's a really difficult question.
But I do want to highlight these three dr2 cgs I really like! He isn't fully 100% consistent here but I really like them. I know a lot of people think Nagito's showing Junko's arm art looks bad but I honestly like it. Nagito about to play Russian Roulette is such an awesome moment too! The one where he has the fire behind him is not only really cool, but also a really good in game shot of most of his body from a different angle!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I truly, again, love his manga art! His specific spin off's manga has a lot of really amazing, interesting, and fun visuals! Even if I'm not really fond of the anatomy the artist uses it's still really good stuff. The Danganronpa 2 spin off mangas have really good anatomy and expressions he looks sooo good there I'm in love with it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While I'm at it I also want to highlight his reference sheet, it's clearly consistent because that's the job of a reference and I think his expression is pretty cute here. I don't really see people talk about it so I just wanted to also bring it up Lol.
Tumblr media
For the most part I've really struggled to directly answer your question because he has a lot of different interpretations, art, and appearances that all mix together into one mental image or understanding of what he looks like for me. I really love most all of his art so it's hard to say. Nagito has a lot of different tones in his art as well, from his crazed ramblings to happy expressions, he has so many tonally different art pieces because he excels at being sweet and intimidating. This makes it even more difficult!
In conclusion, I don't believe I can come up with an absolute answer for you unfortunately. Regardless though, I definitely learned from this that I have strong opinions on all of his art. I hope you enjoyed my appreciation for some of his art and small talk about mild inconsistencies of his haha!!
Apologies this took so long and Thank you for your ask <3

@loremaster Great to hear that! (Maybe you wrote it in your reblog because you didn't need a response, but I wanted to respond personally, so let me do it.)
I also think Spike Chunsoft should do events for fans outside Japan! They've been releasing their merchandise outside of Japan, and I'm sure they're aware that they have a lot of fans worldwide, but I guess they don't have a lot of experience with international fan events at the moment. I hope that will change in the future.

RAIN CODE Fan Meeting Report ⑤ (Final)
Tumblr media
(Again, sorry the thumbnail doesn't make sense 😅)
From around the middle of the evening program to the end.
Previous posts:
RAIN CODE Fan Meeting Report ①
RAIN CODE Fan Meeting Report ②

RAIN CODE Fan Meeting Report ④
⚠️This is a looooooong post and contains important spoilers! If you haven't played RAIN CODE yet, you should definitely not expand this post.
Before the second half began, there was a section introducing the merchandise available at the event, just like in the daytime program. It was also announced that those who bought the OST could participate in an autograph session with Kodaka, and the MC asked Kodaka: "From what I found on X, the fans who already participated seemed pretty happy. How was it?" He then replied:
Tumblr media
(The crazy thing about Kodaka is that even when he lies, he never denies it like "just kidding" or "it was a joke"! 😂)
--------
Afterwards, Fukuhara, Suzushiro, and KENN performed a reading that recounted a scene right after Desuhiko's awakening in Mystery Labirinth. The dialog was exactly the same as in the game, so I'll skip the details.
In the next reading, Ishikawa participated and they did the reenactment of the scene in Chapter 4 where they talked to Dr. Huesca in front of his laboratory through a monitor. Originally, Yuma, Desuhiko, and Fubuki talked to him, but Fubuki was replaced by Halara, so the script was a bit special.
Tumblr media
Dr. Huesca's lines just played the in-game audio, which led him to ask Halara who the woman was. 😅
When Yuma told him that Halara was also a detective who had come to protect him, he seemed to think a little. Then Desuhiko said, "Hey, Halara! This might be our chance. Let's draw the geezer outta his hiding place with a honey trap!", then he continued in a cute voice. "Tell him, ' With all my heart... I will serve you nya!'" Halara was confused by his words, but muttered, "You said 'nya'... so is it a cat?" and seemed a little more enthusiastic, so Yuma panicked, "Halara! Don't take it so seriously!" Then Shinigami interrupted, "Wow, that sounds fun! Imitating a cat is a piece of cake. I'll show you my example!" and she continued in a sweet voice, "With all my heart... *breath* I will serve you nya♡"
Tumblr media
(I drew the image above based on the image that was on the back screen, but actually showed a sprite used in the game).
Since no one but Yuma could see that Shinigami was so excited, no one reacted with it, then Halara muttered, "If it means a cat, I might be able to do it." Yuma was confused: "A-Are you sure, Halara?" Halara replied sharply: "Who do you think I am? I'll show you..."
"With all my heart... I will serve you nya!"
Tumblr media
(It was like the "With all my heart..." part is in his/her normal voice, and "I will serve you nya!" is in a softer voice towards the end.)
Desuhiko was surprised: "Y-You've really done it!"
After that, as in the main story of the game, Dr. Huesca pretended to open the lock, but someone attacked him (though it was just his act), causing Desuhiko to panic, and Shinigami forced a punch line to end the reading.
・・・
Ishikawa commented: "What on earth were we made to do?" Fukuhara: "I made sure to ask if Halara was ok!" KENN: "Won't Halara charge them a fee later?"
Ishikawa seemed confused, but Fukuhara and KENN praised her for giving a convincing performance. (Personally, I liked that Halara was never weirdly shy or embarrassed.)
Then, Kodaka commented, "If I had written the script*, I definitely would have let Desuhiko do it too. Like, 'I'll set an example for you!'" KENN: "In disguise?" Kodaka: "Yeah, in disguise." KENN: "So it might not be my voice. Haha." (*As I mentioned in the previous post, the script for the reading was written by someone from Spike Chunsoft, so Kodaka was not involved.)
--------
The next segment was "Kanai Ward Citizen Survey". Just like the daytime program, the audience was asked some questions with three choices for each, and the VAs predict the answer that would be the most popular.
The MC told the audience, "Imagine that you are a resident of Kanai Ward." Then Kodaka said "You are a homunculus, homunculus. Feel the urge to eat steamed meat buns!" 😄
The first question was:
Q1.Who is the Amaterasu employee you want to be your boss? 1. Yomi 2. Martina 3. Makoto
(I believe Makoto is a CEO and not an employee, but I wrote that because that's what the question actually said.)
The audience laughed when the question appeared on the back screen, and Kodaka said: "Is there anyone who would choose the first option!?" Then, the MC asked, "If there are people who choose Yomi, how should we perceive them?":
Tumblr media
(The art used was the same as the acrylic stands.)
And all the VAs predicted that 3.Makoto would be the most popular. (This was the only question that all the VAs answered the same!)
The MC then asked the audience to vote. (Votes were given by clapping.) When the MC called out, "Those of you who want Yomi to be your boss, please clap your hands!", a few people responded with a strong clapping! Then Fukuhara said, "There should only be a few people there, but it sounds so loud!" 😂
As for Martina, there were a few more people clapping. However, when it was Makoto's turn, there were much more of them, as expected by the VAs. So it was 3.Makoto who got the most votes.
The next question was:
Q2. Who is the master detective you want to be your boyfriend?
1. Yuma 2. Desuhiko 3. Vivia
The MC asked a somewhat nasty question about each of these choices, and Fukuhara argued.
MC: "If Yuma sees someone in trouble, even in the middle of a date, he'll probably leave to help that person, right?" Fukuhara: "No! Well, uh, maybe." MC: "Desuhiko will definitely look at other girls in the middle of a date, right?" Fukuhara: "No, it's not!" (I understand that he would argue about Yuma, but it was cute that he argued about Desuhiko as well 😄)
MC: "As for Vivia-san, will he pay attention to his partner?" Kodaka: "It must be like having a pet. Like having a pet named Vivia." MC: "Like giving him books or something like that?" Kodaka: "Yes, something like that." Suzushiro: "Like a kept man?" Kodaka: "To be blunt, yes." (Everyone laughed at Kodaka's answer.)
After that, the VAs talked about Desuhiko's charms as a partner. Then Kodaka said: "Don't you hate it if your boyfriend has a talent for disguise? I think his partner would become neurotic, wondering 'if that guy could be Desuhiko, too.'" KENN responded:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kodaka: "Like, 'You again!' or something like that at a business partner company. It's scary, a little." Suzushiro: "Right, it would be so scary if it was real. 😅"
After such a discussion, here is the answer the VAs chose:
Tumblr media
Needless to say, Fukuhara chose 1.Yuma, but Suzushiro chose 2.Desuhiko even though she agreed with Kodaka that Desuhiko might be scary as a boyfriend.
When asked by the MC why, Suzushiro responded: "I still think he's cute." KENN: "But isn't he sometimes a bit like a middle-aged man?" Suzushiro: "I might even think it's cute. If I become obsessed, I might not be able to leave him."
Next, when asked why Ishikawa chose 3, she replied: "Well, because he's stable. He definitely doesn't seem to be unfaithful, does he? He also doesn't seem to be interested in people or himself, but I think it's okay if I can tame him..." MC: "So you'll give him everything he needs to live?" Ishikawa: "Yes, I will." Fukuhara: "It's totally a kept man 😅"
(I was very curious as to why KENN didn't choose Desuhiko, but the MC didn't ask him, maybe due to lack of time.)
The audience then voted but all three choices got a lot of votes, so it was decided that this means that they are all popular, so 1, 2, and 3 are all correct.
The next question was the last:
Last Question: Which line do you want Yuma to say?
1. "Aaahhh! Blood! Blood!" (JA: きゃあああああああっ!血が!血がっ!) 2. "Wait! That statement is no good!" (JA: ちょっと待って!その発言はアウトじゃない!?) 3. "My past and my memories don't matter! I will solve the mystery as Yuma Kokohead!" (JA: 過去も記憶も関係ない!ボクはユーマ=ココヘッドとして謎を解く!)
There is not much to explain about this question, so I will just write the results. Here are the VAs' choices:
Fukuhara: 2 Suzushiro: 1 Ishikawa: 1 KENN: 1
Fukuhara was surprised by this result, but the VAs who chose 1 said they wanted to hear Yuma's scream live. Perhaps the audience felt the same way; most of the audience voted for 1, so Fukuhara actually performed Yuma's scream.
Tumblr media
All VAs answered both the first and second questions correctly, so everyone except for Fukuhara received a book token as a prize.
Fukuhara: "Oh my, I was the only one to get the last question wrong!?" KENN: "Didn't expect only the protagonist actor could not receive it. 😁" Suzushiro: "I'll use this book token properly!" Fukuhara: "Yes... use it for RAIN CODE. 😭" KENN: "Let's get some books for Vivia. 😄"
--------
The next segment was "Guess Exactly! World Detective Organization Certification Test!" in which participants had to choose some RAIN CODE merchandise so that the total amount would be 10,000 yen.
A long table with lots of merchandise was brought on stage for this game, and as the MC introduced the wide variety of merchandise available at RAIN CODE, Suzushiro mentioned: "There are quite a few people in the audience wearing Desuhiko hoodies." and Fukuhara agreed: "That's true. Deshiko's hoodies stand out!" (In fact, I saw several people wearing orange hoodies! I have seen one woman wearing it, but it had mostly been worn by men.)
This game was done in a team competition, with the teams divided into Fukuhara and KENN, and Suzushiro and Ishikawa. As a special assistant, Kodaka participated in the former and Sakakibara in the latter.
When the MC said, "You assistants can only give hints, don't tell them the exact price even if you know it," Kodaka replied, "No, I don't know at all."
Then KENN asked Kodaka: "How involved are you with these kinds of merchandise?" Kodaka: "Well, sometimes I supervise...... No, hardly ever. I just listen to them tell me what they are going to release something like that."
When asked by Ishikawa, "Are you confident that you can remember (the price of each item)?" Sakakibara replied with a smile, "No, I don't". So it seems that neither Kodaka nor Sakakibara had much to do with the merchandise.
As each team began their predictions with almost no clues, Ishikawa found a headband that mimics Shinigami's headdress and said:

When Ishikawa asked Suzushiro to put on the headband, Suzushiro looked surprised for a moment, then silently picked up the headband from the table and put it on her head! Ishikawa's eyes lit up and she did a little jump and said, "Cuuute!!!" (It might seem like I'm exaggerating, but there really was that exact exchange, and it was very cute! XD)
After that, the VAs' predictions were as follows:
Fukuhara and KENN team: ・Deshiko's hoodie: 5,800 yen ・Yuma and Shinigami acrylic stand: 1,500 yen ・World Detective Organization metal pin badge: 2,000 yen ・Swinging glass: 700 yen
Suzushiro and Isikawa team: ・Shinigami figure (in spirit form): 6,500 yen ・Meat buns plush with ball chain: 600 yen ・Shinigami headband: 2,900 yen
When Kodaka saw these, he said: "Shinigami headband is definitely not that expensive!" But Sakakibara argued: "But, swinging glass is definitely not that cheap!" (Sakakibara had been very quiet the whole time, so it was interesting to see him argue clearly with Kodaka 😄)
By the way, it was cute to see KENN doing a pose while the event staff was calculating which one was closer to the 10,000 yen total.
Tumblr media
(Fukuhara didn't notice it for a while, but later noticed it and posed with KENN, whose picture is in the official report article.)
Then, here is the calculation results:
Fukuhara and KENN team: 13,750 yen (+3,750yen)
Suzushiro and Isikawa team: 7,810 yen (-2,190 yen)
So the winners in this game were Suzushiro and Ishikawa.
Kodaka: "Neither team's answer was that close to 10,000 yen..." Sakakibara: "Maybe the swinging glass is more expensive after all. It can't be that cheap for a glass product." Kodaka: "Huh? Isn't it plastic?" Fukuhara: "No, this is glass, Kodaka-san!" Kodaka: "Oh. Then it's more expensive." Fukuhara: "You said, it's not that expensive! 😫" (Their prediction was 700 yen, but the actual price was 1,650 yen. Also, Desuhiko's hoodie was more expensive.)
--------
With that, the main part of the evening program was over and the participants made their final remarks.
Sakakibara: "Thank you so much for having so many of you here. We at Spike Chunsoft will continue to do our best to make RAIN CODE more lively, so please continue to support us. Thank you very much!"
Kodaka: "Today was the first event, and I want to make RAIN CODE more lively so that this will not be the last. Of course, I also want to create a sequel."
He then looked at Sakakibara and continued:
Tumblr media
Sakakibara loudly declared that he would do his best to animate RAIN CODE after being pressed by Kodaka. 😂 Then they went on:
Tumblr media
The VAs laughed out loud at this conversation. (This made me completely like Sakakibara. It was funny that Sakakibara easily declared that he would drive the company, even though he seems like the type of person who would never say such a thing. 🤣)
Kodaka then concluded: "So please continue to support us!"
In closing remarks from the VAs, they talked about how happy they were to see the faces of RAIN CODE fans, and how they hope to have another opportunity to play their characters in a sequel, an anime, or something.
And at the end, they all said "Thank you!" together and left the stage.
--------
The evening program seemed to be over, but the stage went dark, and soon Fukuhara and Suzushiro returned to the stage for a reading play of the farewell scene between Yuma and Shinigami in the final mystery labyrinth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The reading started from the scene where Shinigami made an emergency exit appear and she explained that using it would break Yuma's contract with Shinigami.
For a while, the dialog was exactly the same as in the game. Shinigami told Yuma that if you remember me even a little bit, show the world that everyone is happy there like you said, and Yuma promised that he would make it happen.
Tumblr media
Then, before Yuma headed for the emergency exit, he called out to the audience:
Tumblr media
The audience responded to Yuma and Shinigami's call with applause.
Tumblr media
Yuma: "Well, but that's right. Also, we've been able to entrust this story to everyone here. I think that is one of the solutions." Shinigami: "I'm sure you'll forget about the spoiler talk when you leave here, though. Oh, but then you'll be able to play the game again, so it's a good deal!" Yuma: "You say such things even at a time like this... I think it will be okay. It will stay in everyone's heart."
Yuma then called out to the audience once again:
Tumblr media
(The audience responded with applause.)
Shinigami: "Master. It's about time. We have to say goodbye." Yuma: "...Okay, Shinigami. Here we go!"
Yuma & Shinigami: ""Thank you very much for coming today!!!""
After Yuma and Shinigami's greetings, the stage gradually darkened and the spotlight shone on Shinigami alone.
Shinigami: "I'm not sad or anything. I’m... used to being alone. And that solves everything... Doesn’t it?
I will be waiting... to see you all again!"
Tumblr media
--------
After the reading, Yuma's voice announced that all stage programs were over.
Yuma asked, "Did you all enjoy the last special reading play?" The audience responded with loud applause.
Yuma: “Thank you everyone. We look forward to seeing you all again! Thank you so much for coming today!”
--------
That's all for my report.
Thank you so much for reading to the end! 💖

@pixelatedraindrops Sorry I left your boy on the ground! Maybe this happened afterward:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I haven't drawn the bed, but I trust your great imagination will see it there 😄)
I was going to post something with an @ to you when I get it drawn properly, but thanks for responding even if it's just a doodle. As soon as I saw your comment, I had this idea and I drew it, although it is still just a doodle... I know I'm repeating myself, but I would like to take the time to draw it properly someday!

*The text on the floor says "(I'm) tired" in Japanese.
Ahhhhhhhhhh I'm relieved the fact that I was crazy enough to finish the insanely long fan meeting report. The fan meeting was on March 17th, and it is now April 16th in JST. Huh, I've been writing fan meeting reports for a month? Yeah, I think it took me about 60 hours, including the report on Kodaka's autograph session...
Every day for the last few days I kept thinking "It'll be done tomorrow" or "It'll be done today" but it took much longer than expected. 😅 But I think it's all thanks to the many people who liked and commented and reblogged, so as I write in every post, I really appreciate those who read it. I just write what I wanted to tell someone or draw some illustrations to explain it, but it's been a wonderful experience to see your reactions and to know that there are fans all over the world who love RAIN CODE. I sincerely hope that the fandom will continue to grow in the future.
And I would like to announce to those of you who follow this blog: This blog will take a break from posting about RAIN CODE and will return to a blog where I will post mainly about Danganronpa again. I'm sure I'll be posting posts that contain spoilers for the Danganronpa series, so if you haven't played Danganronpa yet or have only played parts of it, please feel free to unfollow me.
I have no particular desire to increase my follower count, so feel free to remove me. Of course, I'm happy and very grateful for your interest in my blog! But if you haven't played Danganronpa yet, maybe you will in the future, or maybe you'll see a streamer playing it, and I think it would be best to avoid looking at spoiler posts for those times.
By the way, I still have a lot of desire to draw characters from RAIN CODE! At least I will post some art on the first anniversary of the game's release and on the birthday of Fubuki, my favorite character. Besides that, I have about 3 ideas for manga I want to draw for a crossover with Danganronpa, and I have more ideas for drawings and animations of the characters. (I really thought I would have posted more of these by now, but I'm sad that I haven't. Time flies too fast! 😭😭😭)
Anyway, thanks for your interest, including this post. Hope you have a great day! <3
