i had no problem with elriel as a gwynriel fan, i don’t mind either side, i see how they would work and i was also originally elriel before acosf.

kaz brekker hair significance in the soc duology

kaz brekker’s bad haircut is actually one of the most nuanced and subtle portrayals of his characterization. why? it’s obvious that kaz never does anything without a strategic justification (unless inej is in the picture), so what is the purpose of him having a canonically unfortunate hair? he’s too self aware to be oblivious to this and is shown to know that it’s a bad undercut in six of crows, so what benefit does this offer? it may lend some weight to his image of the “bastard of the barrel”, but that doesn’t fit with his thoughts of getting a better one during the ice court heist.

the reason kaz has a bad haircut is because he most likely cuts it himself so that he doesn’t have to be be touched by another person. he would rather walk around looking like he got in a fight with a lawnmower than have to bear skin-to-skin contact. it’s a really poignant example of the depths of his trauma and its far-reaching impact in his life, even affecting seemingly unrelated things.

but just imagine his hair gradually improving as he grows closer to inej and deeply trusts someone for the first time since he lost everything. imagine her cutting his hair for him above the bathroom sink with one of her knives as he closes his eyes, surrendering himself to her.

last thing i say about evil!Gwyn theories I swear but I find it funny how y’all swore on your lives there was no romantic coding in Gwyn and Az’s interaction in his bonus chapter and then turned around and said Gwyn was seducing him with her Lightsinger powers 😭 like okay so you’re saying there IS romantic coding? Cause she was making him feel that way towards her and seducing him so he’d fall in love with her right ??
