"uhh- Okay? I dunno everything, and I'm sure there's different names people come up with... Kura 'n I just make up these names so that we have something to call 'em. "Mannequin" works better than "Freaky fucking smart mutant," Y'know?

But anyways- I'll try to think of some of them... It's pretty late."

"...First one that comes to mind for me are Deadweights. We call 'em that because that's what they are. You see more dead ones just... taking up space, than you do live ones.

They only live a couple of weeks after the infection takes hold. Something about that strain just... completely fucks the body up. Muscles grow and expand and, eventually, tear your own skin. I've never seen or heard of one sleeping, I doubt they do, even. They're scary. Dumb, but scary. They don't hold back- can't, even, and they'll attack anything that moves.

But this- this is what kills them. They're literally tearing themselves apart like this. If they don't die of exhaustion or just... because they reached their limit, their wounds will get all nasty, and they die.

Kill them fast- go for the head. They won't stop moving just because you shot them a few times."

"There's also the uhhh... The- We don't... actually have a name for them. I've only ever seen a few. I don't... get them.

They look... almost normal. Kind of like- walking corpses, without any of the rotting. They smell awful though. You smell them before you see them. It's not even rot, it's... something else, I dunno. Kind of sweet. Not in a good way.

They're weak, and slow, they're always coughing and wheezing, and- they shouldn't be a threat, right? But they're... They scare me. I've seen someone get infected from them without ever even touching the damn thing... I don't know how, but it happened.

It's- never come up with Kura, haha. I haven't run into any in our area yet. I should- I should probably warn him. Maybe he's listening to this already, who knows."

"And then, there's the Mannequins of course- Everyone knows about Mannequins. If you don't, you're probably gonna die. They're uh- At least where we're at they're rare... I'm not sure if that's the same everywhere else.

Most mutants are dumb. Their brains are all- I dunno, probably mush up in there. It's easy to trick or outsmart them if you know even slightly what you're doing.

But with mannequins- you have to realize that you can't outsmart them.

They- I don't know what's wrong with them. People get infected, and then their bodies... Change. stretch out- twist... in ways that should kill a person. But it doesn't. It doesn't kill them-

They're- They're predators. We're their prey. They- act almost human. They copy sounds and voices to lure you in- they'll stalk you for hours just to finally get you- hide in plain sight, hide- stalk...

...They shouldn't exist. But they do- they do, and-

[[Kura turned away from the radio with a sigh, holding his head. “I Apologize For Earlier, Are You Still Unable To Sleep?” He asked.

Paris was still laying on the couch, staring up blankly at the ceiling. “…’s fine,” he muttered, not turning towards Kura as he spoke.

“You’re Not Going To Heal If You Don’t.” Kura crossed his arms, and shifted his weight to one leg.

Paris scoffed in response, propping himself up into more of a sitting position as he finally faced Kura, glaring. “It’s not even that bad! Seriously— I’m barely hurt! It was just a little fall.”

He glared back at Paris. “This Is About More Than You Miraculously Falling Into A Mud Puddle,” Kura spoke, pausing to gesture towards his side. “Your Arm Is Still Healing, Dolt.”

Paris’ eye twitched. ”Oh, and my arm healing means I have to do nothing but lie down inside all day?!” He replied, narrowing his eyes. “I’m gonna fucking wither away before I ‘heal’ if this goes on any longer!”

Kura huffed, digging his nails into his sleeve, “You Aren’t Going To Fucking Wither! There’s Plenty Of Area To Walk Around, And I Can Do Any Needed Excursions! You Are Going To Rest Here.”

“Rest, Rest, Rest!” Paris mimicked Kura’s voice- badly, as he threw up his one good arm in exasperation. “That’s all you fucking talk about! My brain’s fucking dying— there’s nothing to do in here! Seriously, you won’t even let me talk on the radio!”

Kura furrowed his brow, stomping towards him. “That’s Because You’re Actually Listening To Me And Resting, Just Trying To Get You To Sleep Is Almost Impossible!”

“I’ve slept plenty!” Paris retorted, “And I couldn’t sleep any more even if I wanted to!” He stood up to look Kura mostly eye-to-eye, scowling.

Kura glared down at Paris, “And What Exactly Do You Plan To Do?”he said, snidely.

”I—“ Paris opened his mouth… then closed it, trying to come up with a response…

And then instead pushed past Kura, as he walked towards the radio without a word.

Kura huffed, dragging a palm down his face. ”I”m Going To Go Get A Drink.”

“Fine, you do that.” Paris replied, sighing. “At least you’re not leaving me to die of boredom.”

“You Weren’t Going To—“ he groaned, “You’re Going To Die One Day, And I’ll Die Because Of That, And It’ll All…” Kura’s ranting became inaudible as he snatched his bag of refreshments.

“Oh, quit being dramatic!” Paris turned to the door as he yelled, rolling his eyes. Bad idea.

”Dramatic?!” Kura hissed, and sharply spin around on his heel to stare at Paris. “Well Sorry For Being Cautious After You Lost Your Fucking Arm, Because Some Dolt WON’T BE. I Have To Overcompensate For Your Petulance!”

”I DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU WANT FROM ME,” Paris snapped, slamming his hand against the desk for emphasis. “I’ve BEEN listening to you! I stay inside, as much as I can, and I’m not— fucking— doing any crazy shit!”

“I Want You To Sleep!” Kura three apart his arms, “It’s The Best away For You To Heal, And- And You’re Not Doing That! I’m—“ He interrupted himself with an agonized groan, “Fuck, I Don’t Care What You Do, As Long As You Don’t Overexert Yourself, Go Be An Idiot!”

“I can’t fucking sleep all day and night— every fucking day!” Paris started to argue back, but shut his mouth, grumbling in frustration. “…Fine then! I will go be an idiot. Whatever! I don’t care.”

Kura huffed again, and hid in the next room over to drink.

Paris was silent for a moment, before his eyes widened in clarity, and he turned around to yell at the door again.

”And I didn’t trip into a mud puddle!”
