Nowhere Left To Run - Pt.29
I had to rewrite this thing about 5 times becAUSE TUMBLR MOBILE JUST WOULDN'T SAVE THE DAMN DRAFT -.- Anyway, sorry if it's short, I'll try writing longer chapters. Hope you guys had awesome holidays and HAPPY 2019
-----------------------
"Ready, honey?" Aubrey stood by the front door of Emily's house, waiting for the girl to finally get ready
"Yup!" The tall brunette rushed to the door, picking up her purse and then pausing when she looked outside "Wait, it's still light, out there. You can't go now!"
"Don't worry, it doesn't affect me anymore" Aubrey chuckled, pulling Emily outside
"And why not?" The girl looked really confused, tilting her head slightly to the side, exposing her neck and the bandage that was still there from when she got out of the hospital two days ago.
"Long story short, I made a deal with a demon and it gave me Angel blood."
"So Demons and Angels also exist?"
"Well, yeah. They're like the source of everyone in the Shadow World. Faeries are half demon and half angel. Warlocks are half demon and half human. Vampires and Werewolves are humans infected with demon disease and Shadowhunters are half human and half angel. Although you can be Transformed into one... I don't really know how this thing works, but you get the point, right?"
"That'so cool!" The brunette squealed with excitement. "What are the chances of me being one of them?"
"Right now? None. A few nights ago? Probably a Vampire, if the bastard who attacked you wanted to Turn you."
"Then I'd be just like you!"
"That's not a good thing, Em."
"Why not? Then you wouldn't have to protect me so much"
"It's a burden! Trust me, you don't want to live too long and you don't want to feel the pain of this kind of hunger"
They continued the way in silence Aubrey running through messages on her phone.
Jessica: Where r u guys?? Me and Ash r already here!
Chloe: Gettin’ ready!
Chloe: Aahn.. I’m taking Beca with me, is that okay?
Jessica: The Shadowhunter?...
Ashley: What Jess meant was... sure it’s okay, Chlo ;)
Aubrey: WHY would you do that????
Chloe: Cuz she's interesting and I wanna know her better 🤷‍♀️
Ashley: So this is a date? 😏
Aubrey: You do realize you two can never be together because of their law, right?
Chloe: What makes u think I want smth like that with her?
Aubrey: I'm sorry, did you forget you started dating Tom because he was "interesting" and you "wanted to know him better"?
Chloe: Tom was a mistake. Beca seems... different
Jessica: So u're saying u do wanna date her?
Aubrey: Huge mistake
Ashley: I ship it!!
Chloe: Let's not go that far, shall we?
Chloe: I mean... she's hot, cute and kinda nice, but I wouldn't say I wanna properly date her...
Jessica: Uhm... friends with privilege?
Chloe: I guess
The moment she sent the message came a knock on the door and she knew that was Beca. She finished combing her hair and opened the door.
"Uh.. you ready?" Beca looked... different. Her clothes, actually. Instead of the all black Shadowhunter gear, she wore dark Jean's and a black tank top with a flannel shirt hiding the Runes all over her arms. It was a nice look on her. Pretty hot too, Chloe thought to herself.
"I am... no gear today?" She noticed Beca looking her up and down, spending a few seconds on the deep cleavage showing because Chloe let a few buttons up her shirt open. "Aand... no weapons? Are you really Beca?" She added in a playful tone
"Ha ha, very funny." The brunette rolled ger eyes, fidgeting with her bike's keys "I wear clothes like these all the time. Just... when I'm in Idris"
"You should wear it more often around here too. You look hot" Chloe smirked, giving the brunette a flirtatious wink and she noticed Beca get all flustered and turn her gaze to the wall.
"Uh... thanks.." Beca muttered, not really knowing what she should do next. Sure she had flirted with a lot of people before, that's how she got most of them into bed with her. Not that it required much effort, to be honest. But it was hard to flirt back when she was sober.
"For real, tho, you look good. Better than all black clothes. Not that you don't look hot on those too, it's just..." Chloe started rambling and shook her head. "Your eyes. These clothes brings out the blue in your eyes"
She noticed the way Beca opened her mouth but no sound came from it, Chloe's cheek burning in embarrassment.
"Sorry, that was cheesy, forget it, let's just go"
"Uhm.. yeah.. okay.."
They left the Institute and got to Beca's bike, both brought to silence because of the embarrassment.

Nowhere Left To Run - Pt.28
"So" Jessica jumped at the sudden approach, turning around to see the boy her mother wanted her to talk to "You're the princess everyone talks about, huh?"
"Uh... I am?" The blonde looked at him, curious. "Why would people be talking about me?"
"Maybe because you're the princess?" He smiled a bit, taking a few steps closer. Jessica could feel the boy's long hair on her shoulder as he tilted his head towards her, his voice in a low tone "Or maybe because of your werewolf girlfriend.” The girl felt her cheeks burn. Of course everyone knew it, it’s not like she was trying to hide her relationship with Ashley anyway. “You know, the Court is not happy with that.”
“And you’re here to make me change my mind?“ Jessica crossed her arms, ready to argue with this strange long-haired Fae.
“Not at all, princess.” He shook his head, a soft smile on his face “I’m here to congratulate you. I’d never have the courage to do the same, no matter how much I loved the person...” He motioned to a bench at the hallway and they sat there. “I’m Corey, by the way”
“I’d tell you my name, but you already know it“
“Yeah..“ Corey giggled “So, tell me about you and our girlfriend, what’s your story?”
The guy seemed to be legitimately interested and happy to listen to her talking for a good few minutes so that’s what she did, the conversation lasting for the next 2 hours, until she got a message from Ashley
“Oh, I gotta go“ She said, looking at he message “I’m meeting my friends tonight“
“Cool, can I tag along?“
“Sorry, it’s a girls night only. Maybe next time.” She kissed his cheek and ran towards her chambers, leaving the boy sitting alone on the bench. He was a nice guy, she thought. Maybe they could be friends.
--------------------------------
“Oh dear... Beca, tell me this is not what you’re wearing to the karaoke tonight“ Stacie said as she walked into Beca’s room, watching the petite brunette furrow her brows, confused.
“What’s wrong with what I’m wearing?”“
“It’s a hunting gear! You’re not going to a date wearing a hunting gear!“
“Okay, first of all, it’s not a date. You and Amy have got to stop with this.“ She rolled her eyes, taking her top off “Second, why can’t I?“
“Because I said so“ Stacie tossed her a black tanktop, a red flannel and a pair of dark jeans “Wear these. Dear God, you need new clothes. We’re going shopping tomorrow.“
Beca changed into the clothes Stacie gave her and she had to admit, she didn’t hate the look. “Where am I supposed to keep my weapons?”
“Put a dagger and your stele in your boots“
“Alright...“ Beca did as instructed and turned to the tall brunette at the other end of the small room “Is this good enough for you?“
“Oh, honey, not even close. But this will do. Now get out of here!“
“So bossy..“ Beca mumbled, taking her wallet and the keys to her bike, leaving the room with a strange feeling in her stomach.

Nowhere Left To Run - Pt.27
Jessica couldn’t handle this stupid dinner with the Court that her mother, the Seelie Queen, had arranged. It was all so formal and somehow fake, she just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible, meet Ashley and be free.
“Jessica“ She heard her mom hissing under her breath and so she hid her phone on her dress, cheeks burning for being caught texting Ashley. “No phone on the table. Specially if you’re talking to that girlfriend of yours.”
“It’s not like someone’s paying attention to me here anyway”
“Look again“ The Queen tilted her head towards the other end of the large table, where a man kept his eyes on her. “Talk to him after we’re done here. Maybe you change your mind about all this”
“Highly doubt it...“ Jessica mumbled, twisting the fork on her hand while looking at her half eaten plate. “Excuse me” She said in a loud enough voice for all table to hear and made her way to her room, where she knew Ashley was waiting for her.
And sure enough, the moment she opened the door was when she felt most relieved all day just by the sight of her girlfriend lying on her bed, playing some dumb game on her phone. She closed the door, taking a few steps towards the brunette, a smile on her face because suddenly all her worries were gone.
“Hey honey” Ashley looked up at her, hazel eyes looking right into hers, making her heart leap.
“Everything okay? I didn’t expect you’d be here in less than two hours yet“
“Yeah, I just got tired of that. Wanted to see you“
“Awn, that’s so sweet. Come here“ Jessica wasted no time to rush into Ashley’s open arms, hugging her tight.
“I fucking hate those princess’ duties.“
“I know, sweetie. Want a backrub?“
“Yes, please“
Ashley guided the blonde to lie on her stomach and straddled the princess’ waist, massaging Jessica’s back. “I’ve got some news for you..” And as Jessica let out a grunt that she could only translate as ‘what?’, she kept talking “Chloe was kidnappe-”
“WHAT?!“ Jessica turned abruptly, almost throwing Ashley out of the bed. “We gotta go find her, what the hell are we still doing here?!“
“Relax! She’s okay now, Aubrey rescued her with the Shadowhunters help“ They resumed their previous position, Ashley making sure her girlfriend remained calm. “She’s staying at the Institute for the night, just for safety.”
“And is it safe? I mean, it is a place full of Shadowhunters after all...“
“I think it is. Her first contact with them was disturbing, yes, but that’s over, right? Since they’re working together now. Plus, Chloe trusts Beca“
“She barely even know the girl... and she not always trust the right person, may I remind you. Remember Tom?”
“How could I not? He’s the one who kidnapped her, by the way.“
“Do you see my point?“
“Yeah, but she also trusts us. And from what I remember, she’s right about most of the people she chooses to trust.“
Jessica sighed, closing her eyes to enjoy the massage. “Hope you’re right”
A knock on the door made them jump and Ashley got off the blonde right when the Seelie Queen entered the room, looking at them, unamused. She was used to seeing them on her daughter’s room, even though she didn’t approve it.
“Your part in this reunion is not over yet, Jessica. Go back there, it’s not time for... whatever this is.” Looking once at Ashley, she stood up when the brunette nodded her head and left the room after placing a gentle kiss on her girlfriend’s lips. As soon as Jessica was gone, the Queen turned to Ashley before leaving the room herself “You better go home.”
The Queen made her way to her chambers, getting a pen and piece of paper. She wrote only the necessary, as brief as it could be and called out to her most loyal subject, giving him the letter. It would soon be getting where she needed it to be.

Nowhere Left To Run - Pt.26
Hey hey hey, look who’s here with another update ~o~
uuuuuugggghhhhh this week has been a bitch. So much to do for a project to present next week and soooooooooo much stress...
Anyway, have a good day/night wherever you are!
-------------------------------------
Beca stood outside the guestroom, looking at the door in front of her. She wasn't really sure why she'd come here, why she felt like she needed to be here just because Chloe asked her. Taking a deep breath in, she finally knocked on the door, hearing a muffled 'Come in!' from inside before opening the door.
The room was dark, with a low light coming from the side of the bed, which Beca realized it was a little lamp. “Uhm... hi.”
“Hi“ Came Chloe’s soft response, the girl tucked into the bed covers. “Are you just gonna stand there?” The redhead motioned to the empty space at the foot of her but Beca didn’t move. "C'mon... Are you afraid?"
Beca could see a little smirk on Chloe's face and rolled her eyes, approaching the bed. "Of you? Yeah, right..." she scoffed and sat there, looking at the little lamp "You seem like you wouldn't harm a single fly."
"Well, you're not wrong... but I'm not defenseless"
"Right. Let's not forget that I brought you here a few days ago and you didn't do much to get away"
"You kidnapped me!"
"Eh, potato, potahto" Beca shrugged
"You caught me by surprise!"
"Dude, if you can only defend yourself when you know it's coming then you're screwed!" Beca watched as Chloe fell silent, fidgeting with the Witchlight on her hands "If we're gonna keep this mission going you're gonna have to get self defense lessons. Things might get dangerous"
"Yeah, I know. Aubrey's gonna teach me"
"Uh.. I was gonna offer to do that, but whatever.."
Both became silent, Beca feeling a little awkward for thinking that maybe the redhead would want to train with her.
"Oh, here" Chloe reached out her hand with the Witchlight on it "Before I forget to give it back"
Beca reluctantly took it, the stone almost instantly lighting up the room at the Shadowhunter's touch. Beca took that moment to look at Chloe, now in a brighter light. The redhead's eyes were bloodshot, tear stains on her cheeks. Chloe had been crying.
She caught bright blue eyes staring right into hers and Beca felt her cheeks burn in embarrassment, but couldn't find the will to turn her gaze away.
Chloe did instead and cleared her throat as Beca snapped out of and it put the Witchlight in her pocket, turning the room dark again.
“So, what am I doing here exactly?” Beca asked, sitting more comfortably on the bed.
“I thought that maybe we could talk. Y’know, since we’re working together and all... It’s better to get to now each other a little better, don’t you think?“
“Not necessarily“ Beca answered in a slightly cold tone that made Chloe’s heart ache a bit, but then the brunette softened, letting out a heavy sigh. “But okay, I guess we could talk...“
“Okay! Sooo, do you have any siblings?“ Chloe asked with a big smile and Beca raised an eyebrow.
“Why is that important?“
“Uh, I don’t know. Just wanna know if there’s more of the Mitchell family around... could be interesting“
“I don’t see why. I mean, I know I’m good looking and all,” The brunette was showing a bit more of her playful side, Chloe noticed. And she kinda liked it, “but I’m not that interestig. And neither is my family”
“I highly doubt that. And you still haven’t answered me!”
“Yeah, I have a little brother... but he doesn’t live here with us.”
"And there’s other people who live here with you guys?" Chloe asked in a light, happy tone, but the image of the woman's teary face wouldn't left Beca's mind.
"Uh... aside from Amy, Stacie and Jesse there's my father. He's the Head of the Institute. Or he should be, at least."
"What do you mean?"
"He's not... in a great state of mind, lately."
"Why? What happened?" It was weird, Beca thought, talking about her father. And to someone who actually seemed interested or even... preoccupied. And this person was a Faerie, on top of that.
"Depression. Since my-" Beca paused, a lump on her throat as she tried not to picture the exact day her family got torn apart. "Since my mom and older brother died."
"Oh..." Chloe's heart ached for the brunette in front of her. She knew how losing someone felt like. "I'm so sorry, Beca"
"You don't have to say that." Beca was trying so hard not to cry. It's been years since their death but Beca still felt her whole body ache at the mere thought.
"What happened to them? Of course... you don't need to tell m-"
"Faeries." Beca looked at her and, even though it was dark, Chloe could picture the woman's face just by her angry tone and it made the redhead flinch. "Faeries happened and killed them. Along with many others, leaving children without their families after the Dark War."
Chloe gulped loudly, her heart shattered for all the things her kind have done to other people. She knew it wasn't her fault, but couldn't help but feel guilty. Before she knew, tears ran down her face again, crying quietly.
Beca sniffed after a few minutes of complete silence, making the redhead jump out of her thoughts and she felt Beca get up to her feet.
"I better go."
"I'm not like them, you know?" Chloe also got out of the bed.
"I didn't say you were"
"But you think I am"
"I don't know if I can trust you"
"Why? Because I'm a Faerie?? Do you have any idea how much destruction you Shadowhunters brought to the Kingdoms?? How many of us you murdered just for fun??" Beca opened the door, ready to leave but Chloe went on "Yes, the Dark War was bad for both sides, a betrayal from the Faeries, but can't you see the harm your kind caused us before all that?”
Both women stood still, looking at one another. Beca knew Shadowhunters weren’t always right, she knew there were bad ones in he past, she knew it wasn’t the Faeries who began the Dark War, but a Shadowhunter. But the Faeries were his allies and this would not be forgotten by the Clave, the Shadowhunter government.
She remembered her encounter with Flo the other day and the woman was right, she was starting to sound like the Shadowhunter who started this situation, Valentine Morgenstern. She didn’t wanna be like him.
“Look... I know we’re not always right, no matter how the Clave wants us to believe in this.“ Beca closed the door back and ran a hand through her hair, feeling strange. “And I’m not responsible for all that harm you mentio-“
“And neither am I responsible for your family’s death. So don’t go taking it all on me.“ Chloe looked extremely serious, which made Beca’s stomach churn when the redhead took a few steps towards her. “Can’t we just leave this hatred in the past and be friends? Or at least be able to have a proper conversation that doesn’t end up on an argument?”
Beca sighed but agreed with a nod of her head “But it’ll take some time..“
“Go out with me and the girls tomorrow...” then, looking at her phone she realized it was 6am and corrected herself “tonight, actually. We’ll go to a karaoke bar, it could be good to get some of this tension away...”
“Uh... I’m not really into singing...“
“I didn’t say you have to. Just, please, think about it.“

Nowhere Left To Run - Pt.25
“So...“ Beca opened the door to the back entrance of the Institute, the one made specially for Downworlders if necessary and led Chloe into the pitch black corridor, noticing how the redhead stood closer to her as the door slammed shut behind them “As you know, Downworlders cannot enter the main grounds of the Institute, so you’re gonna have to stay here“
Chloe could feel the younger woman moving and grabbed the brunette’s jacket so she wouldn’t be left behind. “I know...”
“Dude, are you afraid?“ Suddenly something lit on Beca’s hand, providing enough light for them to see the end of the corridor. Chloe noticed how close she was to Beca and took a step back, the look of amusement on the woman’s face making her cheeks burn.
“I’d rather not talk about it...“ Sometimes she hated not being able to lie. Chloe was terrified of the dark, she always had a little lamp on, no matter where she was. “Uhm.. what is that?“ She asked, pointing at the little powerful light on Beca’s hand.
“Right...” The brunette chuckled and began to walk along the corridor, Chloe right behind her “It’s a witchlight. Every Shadowhunter’s got one.“
“Interesting. How does it work?“
“Magic” Beca shrugged, reaching to open the door to the next room “It only works for Shadowhunters. Here, gimme your hand.” And as she did, Beca put the witchlight on her hand, the little spot of light fading quickly until the were surrounded by darkness once more. “See?“
She still held the witchlight firmly on her hand when Beca turned the room lights on and she realized the witchlight was a beautiful light-grey stone. Slightly heavy for something as small as the size of her fist.
Looking around, she recognized this room and a shiver ran down her spine. Here’s where Beca and her friends kept her a few nights ago, along with other faeries. She swallowed loudly, looking at the other two doors across the place. “So... where should I leave my stuff?”
“Here“ Beca quickly made her way to one of the other doors and Chloe followed, surprised by the sight of an actual bedroom. “You thought you’d sleep on the floor?“
“Uuh... yeah. I kinda did.”
“Well, there’s a bathroom, a fridge... Don’t be surprised if Jesse shows up out of nowhere, he uses this fridge over here to hide his food from Amy and Stacie, but sure he won’t mind if you take anything.“
“Alright... uhm, thanks“ Chloe approached the bed, looking around. “Looks comfy”
“I guess it is..." Beca stared at her for a few seconds before cleaning her throat and turning around to leave. “If you need anything just text me.“
"Okay..." She watched Beca leave the room, closing the door behind her and her footsteps echoed around the almost empty room outside. Another door was closed and Chloe let out a heavy sigh, laying down on the bed.
A few hours had passed, Chloe played with the Witchlight on her hand. She wasn't tired and couldn't sleep even if she was, Tom's corpse flashing behind her eyelids everytime she tried to sleep.
She thought about calling Aubrey, the blonde had always been there for her whenever she needed. But something stopped her from reaching out to her best friend and she looked down at the stone on her hand.
Meanwhile, Beca was in the training room, her hair tied in a bun while she threw knives at the wall, challenging herself to hit some random spots there. She also couldn't sleep, but for a much different reason.
Tom's corpse was nothing to her. Sure, it was tragic how it had to end up this way, but she'd seen a lot of corpses before, she herself was responsible for most of them. It didn't bother her anymore, not the way it used to.
No, her problem was another one. One with shiny blue puppy dog eyes and a beautiful red hair. She still couldn't quite figure out what was happening, why being around Chloe messed with her head that much.
When she got home and found a grumpy Amy at her bedroom door, the blonde feeling left out if all the fun, Amy couldn't stop teasing her about Chloe and so she had to lock herself into the room.
But she couldn't sleep, checking her phone constantly just in case until it became too unbearable for her and she went to the training room just to have something to do and think clearly.
She was not into Chloe. Couldn't be. Faeries were banned from the Shadowhunters accords with the Downworlders, taking along everyone who they had any kind of relationship with.
Also, she tried so much to hate all faeries she come to contact with that this... sympathy for the redhead felt strange. And Beca don't like feeling that she can't quite explain.
She jumped from the sound off her phone buzzing on her pocket and she found herself holding her breath when she saw who the message was from.
Chloe: Hey... u still awake?
Chloe: U forgot ur rock here with me
Beca: It's a Witchlight. And yeah, I know. I'll just take it back in the morning
Chloe: Right..
Chloe: Can't sleep?
Beca: Kinda.
A few moments had passed in silence, Beca holding another breath while looking at her phone.
Chloe: Do you mind coming here a bit? I just... need someone to keep me company for a little while.
Beca: Uhm... okay
With a sigh, Beca put the knives back on their places and left the training room, making her way to the area where Chloe was.

Nowhere Left To Run - Pt.24
The room wasn’t anywhere near clean as it was before and Stacie let out a heavy sigh. Cleaning sucks. Taking a look around, she saw Aubrey looking at the corpse on the floor by her feet. The blonde seemed to be really deep in her own thoughts.
“Hey, are you okay?“ Stacie touched her shoulder, bringing the woman back to reality.
“Yeah, I’m fine.“ Aubrey shook her head, looking at the brunette. “It’s just... It’s’ been so long since I last killed someone that I guess I forgot how awful it feels. Even if it was for the best.“
“I get that... But he wasn’t a good person, was he? I mean, he kidnapped your friend and the Angel knows what might have happened if you hadn’t done that...“
“No, he was never a good person. But still. Taking someone’s life is... brutal.“
Stacie nodded, frowning while some memories ran through her mind. She knew how it felt like. “When was the last time?“
“Years ago. I killed a Seelie guard that was after me.” She shrugged and turned back to the spot she was cleaning before dozing off. Stacie got back to her spot too, taking the bed covers off of it.
“Why would they be after you?“
“Because I used to work for the Queen. I was one of her closest employees.“
“And why is that?“
“Because I knew too many secrets. She needed a spy and so there I was. She didn’t even noticed when I started spying on her until it was too late. We made a deal, my silence and a favor for a fortune of my own.“
“Did you take it?“
“I did the favor, but didn’t take the fortune. It wasn’t what I was on it for.“ When she saw Stacie opening her mouth again to keep asking, Aubrey shook her head. “That’s all you need to know. We don’t even know each other that much, so don’t insist.”
“Alrighty...“ Stacie covered Tom’s corpse with the bed sheets and started dragging him out of the room. “A little help here? This shit is heavy.“
Aubrey helped her take the body to the backyard, where they buried him way down into the ground so that he wouldn’t be found.
“Y’know, Chloe wanted him to have a funeral..“ Stacie remembered while going back into the house.
“She’ll have to get over it. How the hell are we supposed to explain to his family what happened? It’s for the best this way“
“Agreed..“ They stayed in silence for a few minutes, getting more cleaning supplies and getting the bedroom somewhat rid of the smell of blood. “How did you and Chloe meet?“
Aubrey glanced at her before turning back to the wall and spraying whatever product she had in hand to take the blood off. “Can’t tell you that either.”
“I’m just trying to have a good conversation here, to get to know each other, but you’re so restricted, by the Angel!“ The brunette threw her hands up, frustrated. She really wanted to be friends with Aubrey, but how would that be possible if the woman didn’t want to open up?
“I’m sorry if everything you’re asking I can’t answer, but that’s just how it is!“
“Okay, so... What do you like to do? What’s your favorite color? How did you even get a girlfriend being this restricted?“
“She didn’t know about the Shadow World, so that wasn’t difficult to make something up“ Aubrey shrugged
“So you’re lying to Emily?“ She knew that, of course. But she still thought it was somewhat wrong.
“No. Not exactly...” Aubrey frowned, stopping on her tracks “Not anymore. I told her about me being a Vampire. Her reaction wasn’t good at first, but now everything’s alright I guess..”
“Still, if someone had lied to me about them all the time we’re together I’d be really pissed. You get that all you guys had was a lie, right? For her, at least.“
“Emily’s not like that. She gets that I had to do it to protect her.”
“And yet you told her the truth. So the next best thing now would be to break up with her.“ At Aubrey’s silence, Stacie kept going “You know I’m right. You won’t want to bring her any more into this world, trust me.” Personal experience, she thought to herself.

@androgynousoverthinkers-blog  said: Alright that’s fine with me, what sort of magic though is it like a kiss on the forehead from your mum that makes everything okay kind?
uuuh... kinda? Maybe. It’s like... sure, mom kisses could be magic. Love in general could be magic. Because by loving someone, romantically or not, you both might accomplish great things, love is a powerful thing, so powerful that could actually magic. And the ability to make people happy by entertaining them, even if you’re not feeling like it, is magic. Also, I’m not a religious person, but I do believe that some rituals, prayers and things like that, no matter what religion you might believe in, it could also have it’s amount of some kind of magic.
It may sound pretty lame... but yeah, that’s it lol

Nowhere Left To Run - Pt.23
"Hey, Chloe.." Stacie held the girl's shoulders from keeping her from pacing around "It's okay now. You're going home, get some rest and forget this ever happened."
"No... No, I won't forget.." Chloe shook her head, looking at the house, tears still rolling down her face. "Tom's body-"
"Aubrey and Beca are taking care of it. No one will know"
"But his family.. they need to know he’s dead"
Stacie sighed and hugged the redhead "It's amazing how you can think of it even after what he did"
"Everyone deserves a chance to say goodbye to someone they lost. Whoever they may be." Chloe whispered.
Steps approached them and both Stacie and Chloe took a step back to look at Beca in her pitch black hunting gear, the blood on it almost unnoticeable. Tom's blood.
"Aubrey asked me to take you to the Institute." Beca said while getting on her motorcycle "Stacie, can you help her finish cleaning the room?"
"Yeah, sure.." And with a quick smile to the redhead, Stacie got into the house.
Chloe got on the motorcycle along with Beca, her arms immediately holding the brunette's waist tight. "Can we stop at my house first? I need a change of clothes... and a bath"
"Uh... Yeah, okay" The brunette shrugged and they took off, Chloe keeping her forehead against Beca's back, still shocked.
She didn't even noticed when they arrived at her and Aubrey's house. She felt so numb, couldn't feel her feet touching the floor when she got out of the vehicle, didn't even see where she was going to until she was stood there in front of her wardrobe, looking at herself in the mirror. Her clothes had dark dried blood on it and so did her arms, her left cheek was swollen and hurting, a deep red spreading there in the shape of Tom's hand.
Chloe didn't know how much time she spent there crying, sobbing furiously for all what happened that night. But it was enough time for Beca to be preoccupied and go into the house.
"Chloe, you gotta get ready.."
"Sorry, I..." the redhead got up to her feet, wiping away her tears, sniffing "I got distracted..."
"I could tell..." Beca mumbled, looking uncomfortable. "Uhm.. do you need help?"
"If you could get the bathtub ready it would be great.." Chloe smiled kindly, appreciating Beca's will to help.
"Alright.."
It's been too long since Beca last had to take care of someone. It kinda terrified her to be in this position again. That's the reason why she got her little brother, Alex, into the Academy; she knew she wasn't doing a great job at taking care of him. But Chloe was an adult. Older than her, she had to remember. It shouldn't be a problem.
The bathtub was half full when Chloe came into the bathroom and began taking her clothes off. Beca tried to look away, but her eyes kept drifting to the scars on the redhead's back, on her right leg.. She wondered what happened for someone like Chloe to have such huge marks like that.
Clearing her throat, Beca got up and began walking out "I'll leave you to it.."
"Hold on." Chloe grabbed her arm, eyes still wide just like a lost puppy "Can you take these to the laundry room, please?"
Beca took the clothes Chloe was handing her with a nod, keeping her eyes away from the woman’s body. “Uh.. want me to make you something for after you’re done here?”
“No need to bother. Thanks, tho“ She offered a tiny smile and got into the tub.
“Alright...“ The brunette made her way to the laundry room and then stopped by the kitchen after dumping the clothes on a basket full with other dirty clothes. Her stomach began to growl, remembering her of the last time she ate. It’s been almost a full 24 hours since then, when Beca had breakfast with her brother. By the Angel, she was starving.
So she took the liberty to make herself a sandwich, searching for whatever she could fit into it. She kinda felt bad for what Chloe had been through tonight, so she made her a hot chocolate with the chocolate bar she found in one of the kitchen cabinets and a packet of tiny little marshmallows.
Once everything was ready and she went to put everything back in place, she let a few things fall to the ground, making a loud noise “Fuck!”
She heard steps coming towards the kitchen and a few seconds later Chloe was there “What happened? Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I just... dropped everythin-” She lost her breath once she got up, arms full of pans, at the sight of Chloe. Now the redhead wore sweatpants and a hoodie, her face fresh from the bath, hair tied up in a messy bun. Just adorable. Beca had to clear her throat and look away, putting the pans back on its places. “I know you said you didn’t want anything, but I figured you’d like one of these...“
Chloe smiled softly, taking the cup of hot chocolate from the counter and bringing it close to smell it “Thanks. You really didn’t have to.”
“So... are you ready to go ooor...” Beca took a bite of her sandwich, almost rolling her eyes for finally having some fucking food.
“Just gotta finish packing some clothes. It won’t take long..“
“That’s okay. As long as I’m here you’re not in danger“
Chloe let out a small giggle for the way Beca couldn’t wait to finish the sentence to have another bite. “Do you always think so highly of yourself?”
“It’s the truth, okay? I’m one of the best Shadowhunters of my generation.“ Losing only for Jace Herondale and his friends, she thought, but was too occupied with her food to correct herself.
“So, what, you’re like a Shadowhunter Hemione?“
Furrowing her brow, Beca stopped for a moment to look at her “Who?“
“Hermione. From Harry Potter“
“Uh... right, yeah, I totally knew that.“
“Oh my God, you don’t know Harry Potter?!“ Chloe sounded almost insulted by it
“Should I?“
“Yes! It’s like The most popular story ever!“
“Eeh, I’m not that into mundane things. If you ask Amy she might know“
“So you don’t like anything that’s from mundane culture?“
“Not everything... I mean, I like the music and some devices.“
“So you like music... at least that’s something we have in common”
Beca stayed silent after that, thinking at how she felt about that. Usually she would hate to have something in common with a Downworlder, let alone a Faerie. It still bothered her, but not so much now.
“Uhm... I feel like I made this weird...“ Chloe bit her bottom lip, looking down at her now-empty cup.
“Kinda, yeah“
“You don’t like me, right?“ The redhead turned her gaze to Beca. “Or what I am. Because of the Dark War?“ And, as Beca stayed quiet once again, she let out a sigh and turned back to go to her bedroom get her clothes packed. “I thought we were making progress.”
Beca stood still on her place, deep in thought as Chloe made her way to the bedroom. Yes, she hated Faeries. Hated. They betrayed the Shadowhunters and killed many of them, including Beca’s mom and older brother. She never had contact with a Faerie before as much as now because of that hatred. But she was starting to notice that Chloe was... different. Different from what she thought Faerie would be. Different form anyone she knew.
And even tho Beca wanted to hate Chloe for what she is, she couldn’t push herself to do it. But guess it’s better for Chloe to think she did.

Nowhere Left To Run - Pt.22
In red: Flashbacks
----------------------
"Where are you taking me?" Chloe was trying to keep herself from panicking, hands grasping at her seat while the man drove them somewhere.
"Home" He said in a soft tone and a sweet smile. If it wasn't the circumstances, Chloe could swear she went back in time to when they used to date. To when he was just a human boy, innocent.
"I was home."
"No. No no no..." He looked at her, his foot pressing the accelerator while he did, still in the middle of the road. "You see... your home is me. We need each other, babe. We're going to a place where no one is going to take us apart again."
"Tom, the road!" Chloe closed her eyes shut and squeezed her seat as she hear the sound of the truck coming their way. The car changed sides fast and right on time, making the redhead hit her head on the window next to her.
Tom was giggling like a little kid when she looked at him, her head hurting a little. "You're so cute when you're afraid"
"Please, don't... don't do that again.." Chloe closed her eyes again, remembering a couple of accidents they suffered back then.
"Why are you so quiet?" Tom looked at her from the driver's seat, his right hand searching for hers.
"I don't think this trip is a good idea, babe..." the redhead felt his hand on hers, holding a little tight. "Can't we just go back?"
"I don't think so." Tom suddenly moved the car to the other lane and accelerated to full speed, grinning and fixed his gaze on Chloe, who had her eyes wide open in fear "You look so cute when you're afraid"
That was the last thing he said before Chloe screaming and another car came towards them, hitting their car and catching on fire almost instantly.
Chloe still had scars from that day. They weren't supposed to still be alive after that, but they were. And now Chloe's wishing they had died that day, so this wouldn't be happening again.
"We're here". He smiled happily and turned left. They came to a stop in front of the last house on that street and Tom got out of the car, forcing her to get out as well, since she was still so shocked with what had happened that couldn't really move. "You're so tense. Come on, let's get inside, I'll give you a backrub and you can change... I know how you love to swim"
"I'm not going in there."
Tom sighed and shook his head, turning to cup her cheeks with both hands, his eyes darkening "Oh sweetie. It's not like you have a choice." Then he kissed her forehead. Chloe tried to get away from him, but his grip on her face was strong. "Now be a good girl and behave"
He guided her inside the house, showing her every room, stopping at their bedroom. Chloe's heart sank when he told her to lay down on the bed and so she did, his eyes following her. She looked around to search for some kind of weapon just in case, but everything was too far away from her reach.
A few seconds passed in total silence and she jumped scared when he sat next to her. "You'll be sleeping here with me." He looked at the mirror on the opposite wall "We make such a good couple... imagine if we had a child"
"That's never gonna happen."
"Why not?"
"Because I don't want it to happen. We're not a couple, you kidnapped me, Tom!"
"I DID NOT!" He straddled her waist, holding her hands up, tightening his grip when she tried to scape "I did not. You still love me. We were supposed to have this life, a normal life!"
"This is far from being normal, Tom" He tightened his grip even more, eyes darkening and she was sure his chest would be rising and falling with anger if he could still breathe. "You're hurting me!"
"But you love me. That should be enough"
"I don't love you!"
"Shut up"
"No, I won't, because you're crazy! We're never having kids, we're not a couple-"
"Shut up!"
"-And I don't love you anymore and never will!"
"SHUT THE FUCK UP!" He let go of her wrists only to hit her face with a loud slap, followed by Chloe's gasp and a sob that escaped her throat.
"HEY, ASSHOLE!" Came a voice from outside and he turned to look at who the intruder was "How about you shut the fuck up?!" A knife was thrown at him, sticking on his heart and he fell to the ground.
It all happened so fast and yet so slow that Chloe was having trouble processing all that. Never before had she had this much adrenaline for one night.
She didn't even realize she was crying, a hand on her cheek where Tom had hit her, until she saw Beca's face in front of her, pulling her to sit while Aubrey searched her body for any other harm that the man might have caused.
Chloe noticed Aubrey's mouth moving, asking some questions, but she couldn't understand anything. Her eyes were fixed on Tom's body on the ground, trying to process everything.
Another gasp left her mouth when the man started moving again, getting up and taking the knife off his chest. Of course it hadn't worked, it wasn't a wood stick. At the sight of the rising psycho, Aubrey said something to Beca and next thing Chloe saw was her best friend getting up to her feet before being held by Beca, the brunette keeping her from seeing whatever Aubrey was doing to Tom.
"It's okay... everything's okay now..." Beca's voice sounded sweeter than ever, a hand stroking her hair, calming the redhead until it was time to move. "Keep your eyes closed, okay?"
With the brunette's arms still around her, Chloe got to her feet with her eyes closed. Once they reached the door, Chloe opened her eyes and let out a squeak at the sight. Once Beca realized what was going on, she tried to stay in front of it, but the image had already been burned in Chloe's memory.
