To you,
. . .
This feeling…
I am unable to explain it to you. It isn’t that I think you wouldn’t understand me, but there’s no coherent way to say it. I could tell you I am lonely, but that’s not really it. I spend each and every moment of my life in proximity to people, whether it be physically or through a screen. It is impossible to be truly solitary in our modern world. Yet, regardless of what I say, I still feel alone. But it is more than that. Each conversation – each battle – fought tirelessly to prove I’m okay to others when I’m not. A wall is raised, separating the true me from my friends, from my family, from you.
I’m sorry. It was never your fault, and I hope you do not convince yourself so. All this time I was given to heal, I wasted, instead beating myself into the mud. You said you were always going to be there for me, but what good is that when I am not there for myself? And so I let my thoughts eat away until I was left hollow. I don’t blame you for leaving, you had enough on your platter mending your own broken soul. All I did was pull you back onto the boat as it sunk into the crashing waves.
Time has moved slowly as of late. As I write this, the rain sputters against the roof slowly, powerfully…”Llovió, con lentitud poderosa,” a favorite quote of mine. I have found a new peace within the passing of time, and the rain reminds me of it. It is what led me to write this letter to you in the first place. That rain, the clock ticking, music, it will all help me heal in due time.
And with that, I wanted to say goodbye. This will be the last you hear of me.
Sayonara,
RPH

Daily Poetry Day 20: Love?
I often ponder the meaning of love
it doesn’t seem depicted correctly
the media certainly gets it wrong
What is love?
kindness
giving
caring
or so I’m told
I care about others
but I can’t call it love
not how it’s described

Daily Poetry Day 19: Insanity
Have you ever thought about it?
it's the thing I mentioned earlier
you know what I'm talking about
it has been driving me to insanity.
Oh of course you don't know
why would you know about it?
I never really told you the story
well it's far too late for that now.
.
.
.
Please go away
I don't need you
I'll be fine alone.
My biggest lies.

Daily Poetry Day 17: The Forest's Orchestra
As brittle air stings my nostrils,
with the sun rising in the morning,
I only hear vehicles whir violently.
Surrounded by concrete and plaster,
I am unable to hear the songbirds sing.
A once peaceful forest, polluted by us.
I yearn to hear the forest's orchestra
undisturbed by human destruction.
What have we done?

Daily Poetry Day 16: Tick Tock
Tick tock goes the clock
three hands unstopping
the wheel of time
I sit and stare at the clock
watching seconds pass by
waiting for life's blessing
But it never comes
i must live myself
not hope for miracles
Life is experience.
Without experience,
you fail to live
So make experiences
travel the globe
meet new people
Break your routine
stray from the path
and learn to live.

Be who you wish to be
by your own influence
do not allow intrusion

Daily Poetry Day 13: Lone King
Weary eyes wander
seeking sanction
in the eyes of another
Atop a velvet pedestal
a cracked crown sits
scars of battles past
The king's mind drifts
into the great expanse
a euphoric image plane
He dances forth
for lack of yield
he learns of death
Love is beyond his grasp
forever alone he shall be
until his lone, dying breath

Daily Poetry Day 12: Fortress of Stone
Manipulators pick apart the brain
like a pickpocket picks a pocket
masters of their corrupt craft.
They spot and tug the strings
creating obedient puppets
the puppeteers of the naive
I have lived and I have learned
experience shatters a heart
but empowers it to solidify
My fortress of stone
risen in ashes of love
shall falter nevermore.

Daily Poetry Day 11: Wish Upon the Sky
A spark zips across the starry horizon
at the dark window sill, a child sits
wishing upon it for health and peace
Each night she waits for that spark
to cross the night sky once again
the moonlight glistening in her eyes
Beneath a clouded night she weeps.
With her wish left wholly unfulfilled,
faith becomes naught but fiction.

Daily Poetry Day 10: No Title
I remember
I remember
I remember
yet I fail to act.
I oft sulk about whomst I've lost
a shell presented to new friends.
Seldom they witness my hollow
I rather hide than face I, myself
Spread thin I am
butter to toast
unappreciative
to thy kindness
I do not act
therefore I just…
I simply reminisce

Daily Poetry Day 9: Squandered
Numb to the pain
unified lives
needn’t of strain
for that I strive
Unwavering hearts
conjoined by love
begins to start
families of doves
A surreal daydream
what does it mean?
For I was crumbled
and tossed downstream.

Daily Poetry Day 8: Shards of a Fragmented Mind
I am shattered
like a pane of glass
the pieces scattered,
never whole again.
Shards lacerate my mind.
The wounds eventually heal,
but never full, leaving scars.
Fragments of pain haunt me.
Those who stood equal,
my dear pack of hounds,
turned to resent me
by the mind of a jackal.
This broke the glass pane
that harbored my soul.
Broken, leaving behind
shards of a fragmented mind
•Blix
A/N: This poem can't fully convey my mind, and I may possibly write more following this if it crosses my mind again in the future. The title, "Shards of a Fragmented Mind," is taken from the title of the poetry book I created for a Creative Writing class. The book showcased a mishap collection of my poetry that really shows that my thought process is very fragmented and random. Honestly this daily poetry thing is doing something similar.

Daily Poetry Day 6: Sunflower
Rise, rise, all rise
face the sun as it rises
bask in the gentle heat
and rise up for the sun
Embrace, embrace
embrace that warmth
shine under midday
embrace the growth
Fall, fall, all fall
fall with the sun
as it drips below
into the planet
Rest, rest, all rest
rest away a hard day
reflect on your work
and let night take hold.
