Whumpee who hasn't slept in days finally gets away and just collapses. They're finally away from Whumper and (relatively) safe, and so they just kind of... crumple.

Bonus points if this is how Caretaker finds them.

A loud beep, followed by sparks and a horrible, cracking cry. Wrists jolt against shackles violently, Whumpee’s body twitching and convulsing.

“Stop!! St-t-top! Turn it off!” Whumpee begs to the empty room, struggling to spit the words out- before the shock collar zaps them once again. Whumpee’s exhausted muscles twitch and lock up for the hundredth time, then their head falls forward against their chest with exhausted sobs. Whumpee’s skin is pale, accentuating the horribly dark bags under their eyes.

Once every ten seconds. That’s how often the collar zapped Whumpee. It’s not torture, Whumper told them, it’s just to keep Whumpee awake so they’re too sleep-deprived and exhausted to escape.

Whumpee’s starting to lose it. They’ve never been this exhausted in their entire life. They scream for mercy, they cry out that they’ve been good, they scream for Whumper to just let them sleep, but their voice is hoarse and has become too quiet to hear.

The collar goes off again, and Whumpee can only twitch against the chains, dazed, exhausted eyes focusing on nothing in the darkness of Whumper’s basement.

Whumpee wakes up with their head throbbing and their eyes already hurting from the little bit of light above them. They blink and grunt softly, trying to move their body, which won't listen to the command.

Their hearing takes a few moments to filter out the words whispered and muttered, but their brain does not identify the voices of caretaker and team leader. It makes their heart beat faster and panic rise in their chest.

"Do you think it's a good idea?" One voice whispers.

"We didn't have another choice, they were attacking everyone in their panic," the second retorts and whumpee tries to move again.

Once their vision clears and they are able to move their head, whumpee sees that they have been restrained, ankles and wrists tied to keep them from moving. Despite wanting to fight it, whumpee rests their head against the pillow again.

The pillow ... weren't they with whumper only moments ago? Strapped to a table, cold and hard against their bare skin? Who were the people just now?

Whumpee tries to struggle against the restraints, but they are too weak. The voices start talking again, but their brain just won't realise who they are ... and the struggle against the restraints becomes more desparate.

rescued whumpees are good but they're even better when they're fucking feral.

kicking, hollering, biting, scratching anyone who even tries to come near them, let alone touch them in any capacity.

huddling themself up in a corner or under furniture as some sort of escape.

literally growling/hissing, glaring at everyone with shifty and untrusting eyes, ready to pounce the moment they see a chance at escape.

not believing the hand reaching to bandage their wound won't make them hurt even worse afterwards.

gaining and losing trust with a caretaker in half a second when they move too fast or try to touch something that hurts.

having to be worked with for days, weeks, months just to get them to settle down when another person occupies the same space as them.

only bonding with other whumpees who were only just recently rescued as well, immediately sensing a similar distress and trying to comfort them

becoming twice as feral when it comes to 'protecting' said whumpee friend from all these people that just want to help

making so much progress in learning how to be comfortable with someone, only to have it undone by an innocent mistake that triggers their past abuse

latching on to one specific caretaker only and being a hellion with anyone else because they're just not the same

causing such a ruckus for so long that it's unnaturally eerie to see them quiet and submissive when a certain face appears to offer their assistance in taming them...

atsushi passing out in the english dub today <3 it's a different Flavor than the japanese version but i absolutely love how faint he sounds, like he's losing his breath 💖💖💖

longer clip than the first one because i was also thinking about this little sequence of events. atsushi hallucinating dazai behind him, and then standing up like that just to pass out a few seconds later. imagining he can see the spots in his vision forming after standing and he's getting too dizzy to stay upright, but he's fighting it so hard in some attempt to get through that sentence at the very least. the sweat shows that too. but in the end it snuck up on him to fast and he fainted 💔 poor thing

Caretaker arrives home after a long day at work and finds Whumpee in the kitchen, cooking and singing to themselves with a smile on their face, and when they spot Caretaker, they greet them with a smile on their face, asking what kind of toppings they would like on the homemade pizza they're making.

Whumpee is acting like no time had passed. They are genuinely confused when Caretaker rushes to hug them, not understanding what's wrong. When Caretaker lets them go, Whumpee wonders aloud how has Caretaker's hair grown so much during just a few hours, or at what point did they rearrange the furniture in the living room.

Caretaker realises Whumpee really is completely oblivious to how long it has been, and thinks the last time they saw each other was that morning.

It's been five years.
