it's sort of comical how my brother misunderstands the point about his favorite "waifu", rei from evangelion.

rei is some sort of doll, she has multiples of her and each time she dies and comes back, rei dissociates even more from herself. she doesn't feel like a real person. i think rei only makes her own decision in the end of evangelion (film), when she finally told shinji's dad to eat shit. rei is pretty much dehumanized. (it's been a while since i watched the anime though)

and yet my brother sent me this. i think it's a rei cosplayer (please don't harass them if you find this). if anything, this is more of a joke. but my brother also said "I WILL TAKE YOUR ENTIRE STOCK", as in he wants to own rei.

and i'm like, bro. bro did you fucking watch the anime you claim to love. don't you get the POINT of the anime. of your favorite character. srsly.

i feel so bad for rei ayanami, i wish i could protect her somehow. yeah, she's fictional, but considering my brother will turn 27... if he were a teenager too, then i would be less uncomfortable with it, but he's a grown ass man at this point.

i'm rlly done with my doctors telling me i have to overlook my brother's "preferences" to instead build a good and supportive relationship with him.

except... overlooking his weird fucking taste in little girls (and just... girls in general??) is exactly the problem. all my trauma reactions come precisely from the fact that i never questioned what traumatized me. i never questioned my brother liking that shit, and it only grew to bother me further and further.

and guess what worsened that? knowing that everyone would just think i'm being overdramatic or too sensitive. because that's what happened when i tried to talk to people about it.

and my brother only gets away with it. nobody finds it weird. nobody actively calls him out except me, which only makes me look like i'm "crazy" over "fiction", all the while ignoring the fact that my brother got involved with two actual minors irl.

how am i fucking expected to "overlook" my brother being a creep when that can actively hurt others? not to mention how little he cares about MY feelings considering that his pedo taste has only gotten WORSE?

you know, i don't remember my brother ever being rightfully punished for sexually harassing his female peers at school. like i know the girls told the school and my parents found out, but i don't remember them arguing with him or anything. he did stop at least, but he never suffered real consequences as far as i'm concerned.

it's pretty telling though, because i on the other hand was punished and/or judged for everything i did, even stuff that wasn't harmful at all. i'm not saying my brother always had it easy since he was abused pretty badly as a kid, but overall he has always been the "good" sibling while i'm the "bad" one.

and it's ALSO very telling that my brother is older and white, while i'm a brown girl later diagnosed with a personality disorder.

it's rlly hard to talk about my brother's otaku side with others. most of my doctors simply don't understand. i had a rlly heated argument with my first therapist bc of that.

just like my brother, they don't see anything wrong or even mildly STRANGE about liking anime girls who look like children. there's also the fact my brother is attracted to REAL younger girls, so none of this is just about fiction. and even if it weren't, it still fucking baffles me that no one in my social circle sees any problem with my brother buying so many creepy action figures.
